Good news. Did some decent progress on What’s Up Danger so you guys will finally get fed this Wednesday! Bad news, the quality might not be the best since I’m fasting while writing it oTL

Anyways, here are some Batfam w/ Cat Villain! Reader moments/snippets.

TW YANDERE AND MENTION OF NONCON/SOMNO

Both Jason and Reader’s first words to each other were, “What the fuck.”

Reader referring to Jason being a giant, and violent asf esp in comparison to Dick. While Jason was confused at his heart beating so fast and mildly crushing on you while you were fighting.

Bonus points: You guys did the spiderman point meme.

You have the biggest age gap with Dick. I headcannon the boys to be close in age so there wouldn’t be any not so good implications when it comes to relationships, but it’s almost unavoidable unless Batman switches sidekicks every year or so. (You are younger than Jason but older than Tim)

But that is also another reason why you two didn’t click as well as you did with Jason

You’d often make jokes or use slang and Dick would just be ��???” He tried his best though.

On the reverse side of things, and like I mention before Tim and you got along too well as friends. He’s one of the few people you could gush to about literally any fandom and he somehow (through stalking your searches and literally every gadget/appliance you owned) knew everything about it already.

You two have written several theses on fellow vigilantes and villains (mostly ‘dumb’ ones like who has the best cake based on so and so criteria)

Damian is the best when it comes to bantering with you mid-fight. It’s the combined years of sass and assassin training. Went from plain insults to whole ass (not so) subtly being horny when you beat each other down.

He’s also the worst (best?) when it comes to your nicknames. He insists that you two use it on each other. Some exclusive while others he’s usually fine hearing from other mouths.

There was one point in time where you were called Kitten while the boys forced/bribed you to call them Daddy

Tim and Jason have tattoos of you/related to you.

For Jason it’s your name with a few paw prints, and for Tim it’s when he first fought you (and got his ass whooped)

After Jason came back and revealed himself to you, he tattooed the scratch marks you left him on his back after doing the deed.

Damian secretly practices doing henna so he can draw on you during your “wedding” since he doesn’t want anyone touching you. Sort of defeats the purpose, but go off king.

Being the thorough guy he is, he uses lab equipment to make his own blends.

Bruce? Bruce hates your ass. Sometimes it’s in a hatefuckey way but most of the time he blames you for corrupting his kids.

So he corrupted you in turn.

I feel like he gets off to cucking them honestly (blame that one comic) but if Reader is AFAB I wouldn’t be surprised if he impregnated them.

He’s a softie at heart when it comes to you though, courtesy of your similarities with Selina.

Speaking of, Talia adores you.

Like if there was anyone she would want with her son it was you.

She thinks the fact that you haven’t been put behind bars is a testament to your skill, and after getting over your similarity to her “rival in love” she would actively get you to be with her son.

Eventually she realizes she loves you more than Bruce and well, that’s a story for another fic.

You have at least a dozen trackers on you at all times.

Most of them you’ve ingested and pooped out.

It’s mostly Tim of course. But the duty of actually feeding you that stuff usually goes to Dick.

Dick has uh- somnophillia’ed you a fair bit after the break up.

He really, and I mean really likes to watch you sleep.

It reminds him of those ‘catnaps’ you’d take while watching over the Titans.

There would be times where he’d just be in a daze/in autopilot for hours reminiscing about your past together

His favorite memories to go back to were your first fight together, first kiss, and times under the sheets, and a date you guys had before in a festival/circus.

He never takes the antidote for Poison Ivy’s sex pollen and always comes to you for it, regardless of his or your relationship status.

Tim has at least a million typewritten chats with AI you, and around a few hundred hours of voice chats.

You did eventually take his virginity.

He came as soon as he was inside you/you were inside him.

You have been offered to be a part of the bat crew or a vigilante. But,

you massacred many after Jason’s supposed death and feel too guilty to call yourself anything other than a villain.

Chokers with bells. It’s a popular gift to give you. Especially ones that are custom made with expensive ass materials and engraving.

Sometimes Tim just gives you weapons.

Alfred is your best source of blackmail material.

You’ve actively tried cursing him (with immortality). You love the man.

He’s secretly the president of your official fanclub/fansite but you didn’t hear that from me.

You fight a lot with Damian’s pets. Like in a way that you turn into a literal cat and hiss at them.

And last but not least, you’re vv close with every member of the Teen Titans (besties with Rachel and Garfield)

Do you think you could info dump all that you know about Madame Boss and Mayomoto with drawings? I would love to know more about their dynamic and about young Giovanni with baby Jessie. Maybe Delia could ask Jessie about it in a comic? Would it be sad or nostalgic? Maybe both? Like a flashback or something would be cool! Anyway, love your art and everything that you do!! ❤️

I'm not sure I can get it out in just drawings (just because it's a lot) but I have quite a few I've already done if you wanna look through my tags~ I'll also explain a bit here with some of my old comics. Long post under the cut~

Canonically, Madame Boss is the founder of Team Rocket and Giovnanni's mother. Miyamoto was one of her elite agents and Jessie's mother. They're REALLY close as evidenced by how they talk to one another (ex. Madame Boss calling Miyamoto "Miyamoto chan", Miyamoto's informal way of speaking to Madame Boss despite her being her superior, their friendly banter, etc.). Madame Boss sends Miyamoto and two other Team Rocket members on a mission to find Mew, but she and the other members never return. Miyamoto's implied to still be alive, endlessly chasing Mew with Jessie as her north star and reason to keep going. Madame Boss passes away sometime between the radio drama and before the events of the first Pokémon Movie. You can listen to the whole drama here! Madame Boss and Miyamoto are primarily in the first part, but Miyamoto pops up at the end of each of the other parts at different periods of time.

This is more where my headcanons begin! Miyamoto, whose dub name I hc being (Calamity) Jane, joined Team Rocket mostly because of her not great circumstances. She works her way up the ladder quickly and impresses Madame Boss. They become close but at the time, Miyamoto was dating a charismatic performer/con man that MB, not so subtly, doesn't approve of. She was right to not approve as this man got Miyamoto pregnant but left her before he'd known.

Madame Boss, despite her penny pinching behavior (Team Rocket wasn't that big yet), does what she can to help out Miyamoto. They had to tread carefully though, they didn't want anyone thinking there was any sort of favoritism happening.

Jessie is born, and for a little while Miyamoto keeps her and raises her the best she can. On more short term missions she'd leave her with Madame Boss, who's not super fond of children, and would have her own son Giovanni watch her (or have another grunt in Team Rocket watch her). This wasn't sustainable, so Miyamoto quickly puts Jessie in foster care (the foster care part is canon). Miyamoto would still visit her daughter whenever she could.

Ultimately, Miyamoto was a very driven, one track minded woman. She would constantly go on missions and after discovering Mew, became obsessed. It was around this time Madame Boss was starting to catch feelings for Miyamoto. Miyamoto would play along but was not nearly as invested in their relationship is Madame Boss was. Not in a malicious or leading on sort of way, she just had a job she wanted to get done

When it was time for Miyamoto to go on the mission to actually find Mew, Madame Boss, while excited at the prospect of getting her hands on a legendary Pokémon and the money that came with that, began to worry in the days leading up to the mission and tried to get Miyamoto to stay. She offered to send a different team out. To her they were disposable, but Miyamoto wasn't. Miyamoto didn't take the offer, wanting the glory and money of finding Mew for herself (but also had a daughter she wanted to get back to and be able to provide for). She leaves and goes MIA

Madame Boss is brokenhearted and after several years of Miyamoto going missing, is not able to run Team Rocket, troubled by the immense amount of guilt and heartache, and Giovanni takes over. She remains in the organization, more so operating in the background. It was rare for agents to see her out and about. But years later she sees Jessie's joined Team Rocket as a trainee. She requests Viper and Giovanni keep an eye out for her. Viper doesn't know why but does as he's told. Giovanni understands, remembering Jessie as the little toddler he'd have to take care of many years ago as well as her mother Miyamoto, who he knew was very close to his mother.

Not too long after, Madame Boss passes away but Giovanni keeps his promise and continues to keep Jessie employed.

I don't think Jessie remembers much of her mom or anything from around this time. I don't think she even remembers her mom being in Team Rocket or Giovanni babysitting her. She just remembers her mother leaving and never coming back and holds some resentment, not knowing the context of why Miyamoto disappeared.

I've thought about doing a story where Miyamoto returns in my hanamusa au but I still gotta think it out more. It starts with Miyamoto stopping by Delia's restaurant and she and Delia talk, not knowing the little connection they have via Jessie.

Which voices do you ship with eachother? I mean, I've already seen Opportunist/Skeptic (which I haven't seen much of in the fandom and I really like your take on them btw ^^) and Smitten/Cold come by, but are there other pairings or dynamics you haven't got to draw yet, but would like to?

Haven’t been too big on the Voice shipping scene aside from jokes but sure, fuck it, let them by gay.

The Opportunist Skeptic comic was meant to be interpreted however people liked, but I think Skeptic’s inquisitive nature and somewhat reassuring presence by sounding like he knows what he’s doing, and Opportunist’s need for validation and to be wanted go pretty well together.

Contrarian and Hero sound fun, because of the Stranger route it’s almost like they know each other the best, except Contrarian is still a little shit, but Hero has a relatively high tolerance given what he puts up with, so they’d have fun banter probably.

I think Cheated with anyone would be funny, particularly Stubborn, they’re like drinking friends that had a little side thing that went a little two far and now they hold hands and they both love hate it.

Smitten and Cold is like a crack ship to me, if you lot are more invested in it y’all can try to change my mind on that one, it’s not like I’m deep set on that opinion.

Paranoid’s a really fun character, I guess he’d get along well with Hunted, they’re both so afraid of everything, might as well be afraid together. Or get kidnapped in winter, that works too I suppose.

Hero and Paranoid too btw, their dialogue when you choose to go upstairs with the Nightmare is fantastic, their tense yet silly quarrel and back and forth with the Narrator was amazing and part of it was even one of the first things I drew for stp. Them arguing was also my first impression of the game, so yeah, they can be gay too.

Idk what else at the moment, these are just the thoughts I had at the moment. I try to go in depth with my responses because if I like to read that kind of ramble shit, I know others might too.

I'll start with: i had a bad-ish day so maybe everything soured my mood and i wasn't ready i. The end. I also picked the wrong ticket and had to watch it in 3D < not a 3D fan due to being sensitive to flashing lights.

Toxin being erased entirely.

They killed of Carnage and Cletus in 2 so this whole thing flopped without them IMO

You can see where Disney or Sony whoever wanted this or that but when Tom or whoever didn't want it, it got scrapped and had messy left overs.

Too much action and too much comedy ( the dancing was fine, but the hippie family deal went on a bit too long imo ).

Why was Agony introduced but not the other three? Specifically Scream at least?

Knull having his own thanos moment for sony, a spin off or whatever they're doing.

Eddie's ENTIRE attitude.

That Montage was ASS. Hate that song too.

I would have loved to have a genuine queer moment, a kiss, a "i love you", literally anything. I can MAYBE understand if they tried but Sony or Disney said no ( fuck them ) but still. And no i was one of the few that hope there wasn't fucking or kiss with HARD tongue ( i am ace and also these two are my dads to me, it would've been awkward ). Yeah i see some people saying "Its textual" !!!

Yea sure thats nice but aren't you tired? It doesn't have to be queer baiting but like. I'm so tired.

Even if you remove that um? Its not.. that great.

I'm WILLING to watch it again and read positive sides. Because my mood just may have soured.

i think my biggest issue if i take everything away what i just said, is Eddie just going back to being annoyed at every little thing Venom does or wants. ITS OKAY to be concerned about being found by the hunter, but even before then hes just so done. And even during? He should've been concerned. Or Yeah he CAN be annoyed / irritated, but it should be with care. This felt like he was back to thinking of Venom as a tumor, something he just needs to get rid of.

It was vastly upsetting as someone who has partners. Like.. it would be okay if this was the second or first- but it isn't!!!!! And yeah couples fight, but they didn't even do that. Couples have disagreements! But they didn't even talk it out or anything.

Also like? One of my things that bugged me was, when Eddie was complaining about his feet, and we knew Venom couldn't fully take over..... why didn't Venom just yk. Cover his feet for him and walk? That would have been a subtle sweet gesture while they could've still been bantering and so on.

If they had like. Argued, fought, had an emotional moment at the end, Eddie was upset he never got to apologize- i could see it. But thats another thing- he wasn't even THAT upset...

Its fine to not be a super empathetic person, fuck i dont always cry appropriately either. But he didn't show Nothing and not in a "i'm a no empathy person" way.

Idk!!!!!!!! My brain is scrambled.

People have said a lot of what i have problems with already but idk i just!!! Feel the need to put it out there.

Batman and Robin (2023) #1 is out!! 🦇💕

Spoilers and lots of rambling below

Loved hopping in mid-mission with Bruce and Damian banter - the first issues of Damian's B&R 2009 and 2011 runs have Batman and Robin’s relationship on a rocky start, so it’s a refreshing change!

Bruce rhyming with the pause like he’s really thinking about it LOL he's having fun!!

"You roll your eyes just like your mother" SO CUUTE!! a nice way of relating Damian to Talia in a habit haha (would also be neat if Damian had some of his mom's physical features heehee...haha...) Also "it's just us here for a bit." Would anyone else from the batfam be staying there in the future? 🤔

OKAY really want to delve into Damian cutting Bruce off here, since we're mostly in Bruce's POV atm.

Bruce saying that he's happy Damian chose to live with him seems to impose the idea Damian chose Bruce over Talia. From how Bruce thought Talia should "never claim Damian" i don't think that's something Damian wants to hear, especially after Damian already chose not to be on either of his parent's side!!

Batman VS Robin (2022) #4

In the end of his Robin book, Damian says he's still figuring out who he is, so i'm wondering if he's conflicted about losing that independence of being able to carve a path of his own now that he's with Bruce again. Either way, Damian's (VERY CUTE!!) self insert AU story gives us a glimpse of his concerns about his parents and not getting to be a teenager 🥺

We've really gone from Damian just leaving a reminder for Bruce to restock the fridge to Damian cooking breakfast for the both of them 🥺

THIS IS MY FAV PANEL IN THIS ENTIRE ISSUE LOL fav just eating well, cheeks full of food, so cute!! and Damian sounds like he's referring to when Bruce enrolled him to the school in Metropolis lol Though Bruce's reason was also to benefit Damian, he's better communicating that this time!

Super Sons (2017) #10

LOVE DAMIAN'S ROBIN MOBILE!! glad he's moved on from the batmobile and just got his own - it's very much the opposite too in how it's bright, open, and bulky where the batmobile's dark and sleek!

The last part of the issue showcases Di Meo's action! i was pretty worried about it, because when i first saw his interiors for DC VS Vampires (2021) i barely understood what was happening im so sorry sir 😭 Honestly, it was still jarring but much better! HUGE shoutout to their Letterer Steve Wands, because the SFX and dialogue placement improved the flow a lot!

Final thoughts: GORGEOUS ART, FUN WRITING, I LOVE DAMIAN!! i'm analyzing way too much but i'm just so happy to have an ongoing with Damian again (with a writer that actually! likes him!) 😭

My hopes are we get those fun stylized panels of Damian's art/comics where we get insight on his headspace similar to the shoujo panels from Robin!! Reunion of Damian and his pets!! And it's still early, but still holding out for Williamson to keep to his word on this!! 👀

Follow up to this post brought to you by @forgetme-eternally-blissfully, in fanfic snippet format because I gave up on drawing the comic (the fanfic was supposed to be a comic draft but I added too many details)

Kim Dokja lays on the ground among the rubble of a ruined building. He twitches a little before his eyes open. The world is blurry. In the distance, he can see a dark blur fluttering around his surroundings. As his vision comes into focus, he can recognize Yoo Joonghyuk searching through the debris.

A sharp pain coming from his side causes Kim Dokja to let out a groan as he struggles to push himself up to a sitting position. The sound catches Yoo Joonghyuk's attention and immediately he starts making a beeline in Kim Dokja's direction.

As Yoo Joonghyuk approaches, Kim Dokja takes note of Yoo Joonghyuk's tattered coat, his bloodstained body, the wounds on his face, hands, legs. None too serious though some deep enough to inevitably leave scars later.

Yoo Joonghyuk is getting closer, kneeling down, reaching his hand out towards Kim Dokja's face, making a move to pull Kim Dokja in when Kim Dokja decides to open his mouth.

"You're not losing your balance and having trouble standing are you? I'm not going to carry you on my back this time."

"Shut up," is all Yoo Joonghyuk says as he wraps his arms around Kim Dokja's shoulders. His grip is tight, one hand on the back of Kim Dokja's head, the other circled around his upper back.

There is a gash in Kim Dokja's side that throbs with pain. Blood loss has his head spinning and his vision blurring again. From where his face is pressed into Yoo Joonghyuk's shoulder, Kim Dokja can smell blood, sweat, smoke. Buildings continue to crumple in the background and the sound of something falling pitters in his ears. His hands tense and untense, relax and remain by his sides.

Kim Dokja lets out a breath and leans into Yoo Joonghyuk, just slightly. Just enough so that Yoo Joonghyuk can tighten his hold by a hair.

Author's notes (what would normally be my image caption):

I said in the referenced post that Kim Dokja has no trouble reciprocating affection once someone else initiates, but I think Yoo Joonghyuk is the exception. Always exceptional, that one. At least during the Scenarios.

Kim Dokja can read his movements, see what Yoo Joonghyuk is aiming to do, can read his mind, dammit. But he can't comprehend his actions. Yoo Joonghyuk acting in a way that Kim Dokja doesn't know about is something that happens more and more often as time goes on, and serves as a reminder of the wall that exists between a protagonist and a reader, but also the wall that exists between two normal people. Because at this moment, Kim Dokja is still struggling to see Yoo Joonghyuk as his own person instead of a protagonist or a 1863x-regressor-to-be. He's blinded by what he knows and has seen in his own past, which he assumes will be Yoo Joonghyuk's future. When he looks at him, does he see those ghosts of the future flickering superimposed over the shape of the man before him? This is the sort of wall that exists between them.

So when Yoo Joonghyuk acts outside of Kim Dokja's expectations, Kim Dokja tries to push them back on course with banter. "Yoo Joonghyuk is getting closer, kneeling down, reaching his hand out towards Kim Dokja's face, making a move to pull Kim Dokja in-" Kim Dokja sees all of this, takes note of all of this, knows what's to come of it. Doesn't understand it one bit. He's not oblivious. It's more like, "Why? Why me? Why would someone feel this way about and want to do these things with me?" He KNOWS the effect he has on people. He intentionally calculates how much he interacts with Jung Heewon and Lee Hyunsung to ensure their loyalty towards him in the early scenarios (not so much so after like Scenario 5-ish so we're talking early-early scenarios. After that point he more supports them in the direction they want to go (when that direction is the direction he already wanted them to go anyways. something something picking teammates because he knew they were already loyal and righteous by nature, nurturing them so that they would be able to carry out their justice no matter the adversary. He chose them because he knew they were loyal and strong, but they weren't loyal or strong at the time. But they would be in the future. But they wouldn't have been without him. But in another time where he didn't exist they were strong anyways see this is how he is able to have ultimate faith in his party members and know the kind of support he has given them while still being unable to recognize his own value in the grand scheme of things. Because they would have been fine without him, he's SEEN it. This is another wall between him and other people, another future ghost)). So he knows how much influence he has in other peoples' lives. But he values himself so little that he is blind to the emotional, sentimental weight he has to these people. No matter how much he knows he's done for them, he won't see himself as worthy of genuine praise or recognition, affection, love.

So this lack of self recognition extends to his perception of all of his companions, but especially so to Yoo Joonghyuk. Yoo Joonghyuk is probably the person whom Kim Dokja is the most strict about characterization with. Kim Dokja knows him the best, it's true, but he also doesn't know a damn thing about him as a person instead of a character and that makes him feel a certain way. Vulnerable, I think. Lonely. That childish feeling of betrayal when the characters walk off the page without him. There are sides to people and characters that you will never know simply because they weren't observed. And there are sides of people that you have no right to know. It is by becoming a person instead of a reader that you must abide by those rules and give up omniscience. Part of being a person and recognizing another's personhood is to willingly not know everything about them.

Anyways. He's not there yet. Not by Hug Attempt #2. This was supposed to have 3 parts with the last one set after the epilogue but we'll see if I ever get to it.

Based on the fabulous flower shop AU created by @onetrickponi in her fic Shamus. If you haven’t already, go read it immediately! It’s so beautifully written, with laugh-out-loud, character-accurate banter, phenomenal world building, and some of the most lovely prose ever crafted.

This started as a simple sketch because I just wanted to draw them happy (chapter 109 is crushing my soul). Once I started coloring, it evolved into a cover of sorts.

I’m working on comic pages, which I’ll be posting soon-ish (I’m slow at drawing). It feels wrong to condense such gorgeous writing, but I’ll try my best to do it justice. This all started because I began reading Shamus and couldn’t stop thinking about the story, so much so that, the next thing I knew, I had a bunch of sketches on my tablet. Poni was gracious enough to let me draw her words. And here we are.

[HYRULE PARK: 5TH ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL]

July 30th marked 5 years since I published the first drawing of Link meeting the boys from South Park. You have no idea what has happened over the years. First of all, Hyrule Park has outlived most of the other South Park AU comics such as Mirai Park, Hell Park, Revenge Park, SP Fleur Blue, SP Left 4 Dead, my pals South Park High and others. While they were actively developing and then abruptly canceled, Hyrule Park was just drawing its second chapter😆. During this time, my AU acquired a couple of fans but the comic took so long to develop that most of those fans lost interest in it (and some even lost interest in Zelda and/or South Park in general). But despite all this, I do not lose hope of acquiring my own fan base who would draw me fanarts, made memes, or just asking me, "When is the next part?"

Guys, I hope that your interest in Hyrule Park will be renewed, because I actually waited all these years for the release of Tears of the Kingdom so that I could immediately build the entire chronology of events, and at the same time honed my writing skills. Someone will say: “Hey, why do you need to hone something? Your pursuit of ideals will only destroy you! Do whatever you want.” And I really did. And here is the result: the comic version is being reworked, because I started making it back when I knew very little about the lore of both the Breath of the Wild saga and the Zelda universe in general.

Fun fact: I did not plan this story as a multimedia saga. It was supposed to be a short banter comic about Stan, Craig, and their homies ending up the world of Breath of the Wild, meeting Link, going on an adventure, saving Zelda and going home. But then I found out that the BotW sequel is in development, then I found out how fan comics work and what is interesting to fandoms. Then Age of Calamity was released, and I came up with a prequel fanfic called Hyrule Warriors: Backstories, after which I learned about new needs in the fandom. By the time I adapted this story for Ficbook.me, its canon had changed to such an extent that I had to rewrite everything from the beginning. Fortunately, I only wrote the first two chapters. Then I got other projects (FNAF MA, The EDM Gang and even the lore of my cybersona grew into a plot worthy of a manga), I had a need for promotion, so I started doing all these marathons of my favorite animated series and AU, taking part in Linktober and Art Fight... In the end, I have ADHD, a mental disorder that makes it hard to concentrate on anything, so my brain needed a change of activity all the time, which distracted me from Hyrule Park.

So, yeah. There are a crap ton of reasons for delays. But there is good news: I am already prepared enough to continue this story. I changed its format, and now I don’t have to draw every scene of the comic. Instead, I can describe some of them with text. I also formulated a more or less clear picture of further events. All I need are those for whom I will try, and I need to know about such people through feedback.

The 'give me a blank notebook and I tell you about a fic I'm not writing' meme which is blatant bait but ok here goes. Call of Duty fandom, feat. the Ghost comics as a baseline. '22 timeline. The basic premise is 'Single Dad Simon Riley', because I want that man to have a kid damnit he's got All the Trauma he deserves one universe where he gets to mitigate some of that trauma. The setup is: Ghost is a mercenary who works with a select group of people, because he's *out* he's not in the Service anymore he's a goddamn single dad. He's going to leave his kid with a babysitter he trusts and he's going to go out and do the murders that the government will pay him to do. Joseph is his entire world and most of his personality at this point. He does not live on base, but near it. Cue him running occasional missions with the 141 and Soap *paying attention* to him, because he's down bad for the big man with the gentle voice and utter unhinged battlefield methodology. Gaz gives him endless shit for it. They go on a mission, it's *bad*. The kind of people they go after are monsters, after all. There's a kid, and Ghost *instantly* goes into Dad mode. He's down on her level, talkin' to her soft and gentle, and he extracts her himself because she's terrified but also he's going to be making sure she ends up with medics and then a good care home. Soap is down incredibly bad, he is so fuckin' thirsty, that man is hot as fuck and Soap desperately wants him to make any sort of indication that his flirting is accepted. Simon flat out tells him that he doesn't have room for more than one man in his life and cue Soap dying a little inside thinking that Ghost has a husband already shit he's a lucky man. It's comms banter and Soap responds with 'ah, shame. Must be the luckiest man, to have bagged you.' and all like gracefully bowing out, and Simon snorts. "He's *nine* and he's starting his new school on Monday, so if we're not out of this shithole by Saturday night, I'm gonna be a right bitch about it." He says, conversationally, and Soap perks right back up, ears standing straight up type puppy-happy attention because Soap *loves* kids. Cue Soap learning about Ghosts nephew, the kid he's raising all on his own (score!) and yeah. Yeah that's a whole thing and they get back to base and Soap catches Ghost at the gate with a hastily wrapped box of drawing pencils, because Ghosts nephew likes to draw too and Soap had these ones because he got them on a 2-for-1 sale at the art store and they're not opened. Cue an 'I'll show you my etchings' joke somewhere in there, and Ghost thaws. Just a bit. A tiny bit. He softens just a bit to say "Thank you, Johnny. I'm sure he'll love them." and then he's gone into the gloomy pre-dawn light. Soap *swoons*. Gaz, as the best friend he is, gives him a wholesale discount on the endless shit he gives him for being down so bad for an Operator that they've never actually seen officially or without his mask. Soap does in fact tape up the little thank you card Joseph drew him, that Ghost dutifully delivered to him. It has a little bar of soap on the front and the letters were made with little stamps and it's so fucking cute he cries about it.

The whole thing wraps up with a firefight in a jungle somewhere, Ghost confessing that he likes Soap a bit, a touch, just the tiniest amount really, and maybe Soap can be allowed to keep his hands, if he touches him. Soap shoots, he scores. The outro is a year or so later, with Soap showing up to the park for a youth football game, because Joseph plays and he wants to show Soap how good he is at Goalie. He's very good and Soap cheers embarrassingly loudly and Simon doesn't murder him even a little bit. I don't have the energy to write this entirely, the whole thing is goopy feelings softness, interspersed with intense violence, but it'd be fun to read if someone else wants to take this outline and run far, run fast, run screaming with it!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (2023) Review

Why would they release this only a month after Across the Spider-Verse?? It’s as if they WANT to live in the shadows!

Plot: After years of being sheltered from the human world, the Turtle brothers set out to win the hearts of New Yorkers and be accepted as normal teenagers. Their new friend, April O'Neil, helps them take on a mysterious crime syndicate, but they soon get in over their heads when an army of mutants is unleashed upon them.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles of course are close to the hearts of many people’s childhoods, however I do not share that element of nostalgia. I am aware of the turtles and their pizza obsession, and I have unfortunately seen both of the Michael Bay produced ones, but nonetheless I walked into Mutant Mayhem with a very open mind. I am a fan of Seth Rogen and have also been enjoying this new style of animation that spawned from 2018′s Into the Spider-Verse, that steps away from the Disney/Pixar dominated oversaturated 3D computer animation and instead incorporates 2D and various interesting art styles from watercolours to comic-book sketches. Again, Spider-Verse started this and is still probably the most well executed one, however I personally also believe Klaus and Puss in Boots: The Last Wish have managed to take this new artwork animation style and make it their own. Mutant Mayhem again looks very good visually, and even though this one doesn’t really add much more to this animation style that Spider-Verse already did, there were still some creative choices made, like in many shots parts of the character drawings and the background sketches looking unfinished, as if a kid drew them, which I found to be a nice touch, especially with the movie’s youthful nature. But yes, the artwork is very close to Spider-Verse, and that is not the only comparison. Strangely enough the energetic music score by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross hits near all the same notes and drum beats of Daniel Pemberton’s excellent Across the Spider-Verse soundtrack. Both are very similar, and again reiterated that TMNT: Mutant Mayhem gladly embraces that it exists solely due to the trend that Spider-Verse started.

What really works for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem is that it actually accepts the fact that its titular turtles are teenagers. Voiced entirely by a youthful cast, the four central turtles have amazing banter and share that coming-of-age feel, making their friendship believable and entertaining to watch. At times it feels like you’re just hanging out with a bunch of friends who are being goofs. The supporting cast all do their part and are evidently having fun themselves. Ice Cube makes for a formidable villain who at first comes off really cool and charming, but then turns into an intimidating presence that manages to proudly proclaim rap lyrics. Jackie Chan is an inspired casting choice, as he brings an endearing warmth as the overprotective father-figure to the turtles, and his vocal performance felt genuine. There’s many famous actors that provide vocal additions to the shedload of characters in this movie, but I’d say Paul Rudd stood out the most as a crazy skater-bro who was foolishly funny.

Jeff Rowe (known for The Mitchells vs. The Machines) balances the themes of coming-of-age and acceptance really well with the fast-paced action-packed energy of Seth Rogen’s and Evan Goldberg’s script, and there’s plenty of laughs and colourful set pieces to keep kids entertained at the cinema this month. This is definitely a more younger audience aimed affair, but I enjoyed it nonetheless and at the very least is the best version of TMNT I have seen so far. Naturally my main comparisons are those Michael Bay movies and, well, that’s not a very high bar. But don’t worry, Mutant Mayhem provides plenty of entertainment value, popping imagery and mountains of ninja skills. And pizza, of course.

Hey it's that anon again. y'know that one from like a day ago. or a few days ago I don't have a good sense of time. it could be 2030 for all I know

I think my most major like, post-canon take is that I'd probably sorta hate it if I were treating it as a real completely serious canon continuation of Homestuck. Instead I read it more like fanfic than anything, just slightly more Creator Approved than most fics.

Not to say I lack standards of quality for fanfic, but I am more open to certain character alterations and interpretations (there are still more than a handful I don't like in post-canon) because I am more cool with seeing it as someone else's vision of a character rather than them being "utterly ruined" in canon or whatever.

I think it also helps that I read all of Homestuck a couple years after HS^2 paused so I wasn't in the active fandom during all of that (I almost was! I originally tried reading back in 2011 but I fell off of it within 500 pages because I had bad taste) so I didn't actually have my opinion particularly swayed by outside influences and was just more willing to give it a fair reading.

My next most major post-canon take is that, as an epilogues and HS^2 liker, the most recent upd8 is quite literally the best I've actually felt about the writing in ANY post-canon content. I think even if I DISLIKED HS^2, I'd still be interested in seeing where it goes from here, after that.

Hi! I waited til I read all of HS2 to reply so I actually know what I’m talking about. I get you on the benefits of backreading, reading this thing in one go I cannot imagine waiting month-long pauses in between scenes, boy can you really feel them in the text (in a way that wasn’t true in the original comic.)

I don’t find that either the AH-lessness or the divisiveness of the postcanon stuff changes the fact that this is the de facto continuation of the canon storyline - it is the reason any of us are reading it. Them framing the epilogues as an AO3 fic doesn’t make them any less on homestuck.com, rejecting this continuation is an active choice you have to make as a HS reader.

Anyway reading HS2 I was surprised both by how little plot occurred (except in Candy, ironically -- oh my GOD I cannot believe Meat decided to do 3 more years of The Yard/Meteorstuck) and how overall unobjectionable it was? This comic’s just been a lot of really nice art and decently written character banter, and that’s essentially it. Then both took a shocking nosedive in ch15/16, the worst writing I’ve seen in all of HS/postcanon, which was so egregious that I think��� if the New Team honestly cares about this project shouldn’t they at the very least go back and revise some of that? At least fix the numerous typos?? Instead we get Terezi offering wry meta commentary that this time she’ll “do it right”, which already communicates a dismissive attitude I’m not impressed by. But hey all we've seen so far is two new conversations, everybody loves Sollux, let’s see if JR can fanfic his way into a compelling story.

I showed this JuAli idea to my friends before, I’m glad they liked it hehe. I originally wrote this back in November!

I usually write my ideas down in script dialogue format as potential comic ideas for the future. Also cuz I figured that bolding the names would make things easier to read

I'm busy so Idk when I'll sketch this all out and redraw it properly, but this one tweet generated some ideas in my head that I showed to Cinna and Raisu. Back in November, I roughly wrote the gist of it down, but I felt like adding to it cuz it’s one of my personal faves. It's just kissing but it's kinda suggestive/implicit so y'know.

A little comic idea I had in my head. I showed it to my friends and they really enjoyed it, I'm glad! It's one of my faves too tbh. I first wrote this in November, but I decided to make edits to it. I like writing banter!!!

Some rambles

*Note: Sometimes I just write the dialogue only because I have a good visual imagination, so the dialogue itself is already a good outline to use for potential comic ideas in the future, but I thought it’d be fun to add to it. I write dialogue scripts a lot (whenever the inspiration hits and I’m not doing art).

I’m a visual person, so I mainly do art (and comic idea dialogue scripts as outlines for potential art ideas). A lot of times, when I get ideas, I visualize scenes in my head, so my ideas are written in script dialogue format. 

I like writing ideas down so that I don't forget and so that I can still imagine and draw them in the future. I have a good visual imagination, so even if I just write the dialogue, I can imagine what the scene conveys pretty easily. 

I was wondering if I should just have short descriptions on a line on its own, just like a play/movie script would, but it’s actually easier for me to read when the name is bolded beside it, so then I know which actions/descriptions are assigned to which character, y’know.

I tend to have certain quirks when writing dialogue scripts

I put descriptions in brackets () beside the name. I decided to make them italics though to differentiate them more, cuz I also use brackets () for character thoughts. 

It’s not in this one, but I’ll put a (...) on a line on its own to mark line breaks for scene transitions (or to mark that the scene is still a WIP and I need to add to it)

I’ll put any notes with (*) asterisks. 

I bold names so it’s easier to read

Whenever I get hit with sudden blorbo thoughts or inspiration to write ideas, I write them in Notepad or Google Docs, but I also do a lot of reactions and discussions with mutuals/friends. Someone posts something they want to talk about in the chat (ie. animanga/game reactions, AU and art ideas, etc.) and others join in and talk about it if they have time.

A lot of times, I tend to think back on my discussions with friends a lot, because I think they're inspiring and their thoughts help give a lot of insight.

But I don't tend to reference other ships in my ship stuff since I usually focus on ships solo. Like in my AU stuff, I tend to focus on just the ship/characters itself.

Like I would rather deal with my multiships in their own separate AUs, since it’s easier for me to work with. Most of the time I just prefer to have my AUs focus on just the ship itself (and occasionally other charas.) 

I do love AliHaku though. But I liked that line and it was good, so I still tried to include it though. NGNGNNG. Without mentioning any names, cuz let’s keep this JuAli focused

Me: I posted this on main, but I might as well post it again here ^^ For JuAli, I feel like at first, Judar hates Alibaba with so much love. And Judar would just constantly be like "I really don't get this guy at all" and "I don't understand what he's thinking at all!"

I feel like in the early stages of them catching feelies, they’d both be really awkward around each other and constantly headbutt each other…  

Judar is verbally harsh (violently tsun) and demands around verbally a LOT, like a needy cat that wants attention and affection. The tsundere catboy bad boy... And I feel like at first, they’d both be really awkward around each other and fluster each other. I think they'd always be pretty competitive with each other (in a playful, fun way) but they'd warm up to each other over time.

I'm busy so Idk when I'll sketch this all out but it was based off this idea I had in my head.

Like with JuAli, I think their games are mostly light-hearted and fun, and enticing and passionate.

Like it emphasizes playful competitiveness, a heavy focus on drawing things out, wanting to enjoy themselves for as long as they can and do their best to make every intimate occasion they have together worth the wait. Everything about their intimacy is energetic and passionate, (just like them!)

Though it's also fun to imagine a bit more rough aggressiveness, rough kisses and biting. 

When I imagine the early stages of their relationship/pining I think they'll butt heads more often and it'll be more aggressive, then it'll progress to something very loving and more on the same wave length.

Daily/Hourly accounts

Before the Twitter changes, folks would have daily/hourly accounts dedicated their fave medias, books, poems, etc. They’d put their fave quotes in (or animanga/game screencaps of their faves), have them be posted on intervals. People did it just cuz they wanna assign quotes to their fave charas/ships or have accounts dedicated to them

But then Muskrat’s stankass changes happened... I was thinking it would’ve been cute to have a JuAli daily account post screencaps of either of them from the manga tbh

I am actually so excited to answer these they are great questions. Putting them under the break because I have a lot of thoughts and don't want to take up so much space.

1. You have to make one Robin (Dick, Jason, Tim, Stephanie, Damian) not exist permanently and never have existed. Choose which.

If I'm allowed to modify the length of the other Robins? Then Damian 100%. I think a lot of his character arc could have been covered by Steph if she'd had more time—the anger, the violence, the villain parent. I don't like how authors took Damian's existence as the "blood kid" and ran with it to such extremes of him (and Dick) being his only real kids. Damian has also spent such little time actually as Bruce's Robin, opting more for independent stories, that I find him a lot less important to the Robin mythos than the other boys. (He's important to the Bruce mythos, but not Robin). I do genuinely really like Damian, he's one of my favourite robins, but... he'd be the one to go.

2. Superman comics, Batman comics, Wonder Woman comics, Flash comics. You can only keep 2.

I'm keeping Superman and Wonder Woman. Which, as someone who primarily reads Superman and Batman streams, surprised me. Superman is staying because I love it to death and it is so important to comic history. Wonder Woman is staying because it's important and I find it hilarious. Batman is the unfortunate loss but primarily because it's changed so much over the years and each version has been done by others.

3. How many children does Batman have in Canon.

4. Design a new character for the Wonder Woman mythos.

A jail keeper of constellations, keeping the greek heroes memorialized in the sky in a frozen, isolated, but perpetual honoured stasis.

5. Choose one Titans Team constellation.

Currently, I'm really digging the classic World's Finest: Teen Titans roster: Dick Donna, Garth, Wally, Roy, and Karen (Bumblebee)!

6. Worst Batman writer.

I'm going to flip the script and say the best current author is James Tynion IV. The worst Superman author is my nemesis Cary Bates. He has written some Batman, but he is primarily a Superman author and absolutely ruined Lois Lane. (Similarly, my biggest complaints about Tom King are his portrayals of Lois, and my biggest compliments of Zdarsky is his inclusion of Supes. Zdarsky would be my least favourite Bman writer rn though).

7. Opinions on the Young Justice cartoon.

I've never seen it!

8. (similiar to 3 but different) who do you consider main batfam.

Bruce, Alfred, Dick, Kate, Barbara, Jason, Tim, Damian, Cass, Steph, Duke. Those are the ones that stick out like a sore thumb to me if they're not included. It's unfortunate how big that is.

9. Which non canon book do you consider canon.

Solely the aspect of Future State where Maps Mizoguchi got to be Robin. The 1940s radio show I consider gospel in many ways and a lot of the Golden/Silver age Imaginary Stories or non-comics material greatly informs how I see the characters.

10. Worst dc artist.

... Michael Turner (reintroduced Supergirl in 2004). I dislike his style and hate the way he draws women.

11. Kill one person permanently. (not the joker)

I love him to death so I'm killing Hal Jordan. He's been in a semi-replaced limbo for decades now and something needs to happen (and I like John Stewart more).

12. Favourite Tom King book.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow!!! Mat Lopes is my favourite DC artist of all time and his work with Bilquis Evely is god tier. The art makes up for any writing issues.

13. Which book would you give Tom King to write.

Teen Titans or any teenage group. I think his biggest strengths are in writing good banter and short fun scenarios (Batburger, etc). He messes around a lot with the foundations of a given character's situation (look at the mess of Batman's world now) but I don't think that would be a big deal if he worked with a Team that already has a rotating roster. Especially if a lot of the characters on that team aren't long-time established characters, it'd be great. Also it gets bad when he makes it too edgy or focuses on mental health themes but that'd be less of an issue with kids and is honestly just a trap that almost every Batman author has.

14. Opinion on The Dark Knight Returns.

I own it. I haven't read it. I don't particularly care for its premise but I recognize how important it is. Also the amount of titles Carrie Kelley has gone through (Robin, Catgirl, Batgirl, Batwoman) is hilarious though.

15. Favorite Jason Todd version.

Honestly, I'm really enjoying him right now in Joker: The Man Who Stopped Laughing. I like his outfit and its nods to his LoA training. I like that he still uses guns as well as his non-lethal methods. I like that he's still on the outskirts of the bat-family while not waxing angstly every second of it or being randomly happy and reincorporated (*cough cough* B&R: Eternal). I love his partnerships with Steph and Rose and Manhunter. I'd be happy if we had stuck around this characterization for a lot longer.

If we're including rebirth as well then Supergirl/Kara Zor-El. 100%. I have a lot of beef with the way she was written in the early 2000s.

JASON: bounces between Dick and Tim. I don't think he considers Duke or Steph his siblings but I think he has uncomplicated good opinions of them
