How to Spot a Dragon Before it Spots You!
(Written by a human for humans in the Wings of fire universe).
Transcriptions of my chicken scratch and closeups of each tribe can be found here (two separate posts)!
Otherwise, next week I begin Overcomplicating the Pantala tribes. See you then!
I was inspired by a bird of prey identification poster at my sister's school. It had a very similar layout. I really loved the coloured poses and the multiple silhouettes and thought it would work so well for the Wings of Fire dragons. I'd seen another artist experiment with their wings shapes and wanted to give it a try myself. This is the result! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
All the designs you see here are not final - I drew these without properly planning their full bodies, but the final versions I will try to keep as similar as possible. The only change I might make is the position of their wings. I also won't go back and change this because it doesn't need it. They look good enough like this and, who knows, the changes I make might not be enough that the final designs would be any different. I will be doing a lot of muscle and skeletal anatomy, possibly written in the perspective of a NightWing since they seem like the type to explore the insides of a dragon for science.
This, however, is written in the perspective of a very lucky human who saw these dragons and lived to tell the tale. Or maybe it was a collaborative effort between multiple people adding their own wisdoms, like the Dragon Manual in HTTYD 1. I haven't read Dragonslayer but I think they refer to the dragons as '[element] dragon' (not [Element]Wing at least). I also think that they're not sure RainWings exist (at least according to the 'Here Be Dragons?' over the rainforest, but I didn't want to exclude them from this piece).
The main purpose this guide would serve in-universe would be to help humans identify dragons, preferably before ever being seen. That's why I used a lot of auditory and movement descriptions unique to each tribe, ways that a person could identify a dragon without needing to be close.
I'll be splitting the closeups into 3 and 4 tribes each following this post so you're not scrolling for 10 years (you still will be but I'll try to keep it brief. Will I succeed? No!
Stay tuned next week for the beginning of Overcomplicating the Pantalan Tribes: SilkWings!!!

These were supposed to be done and posted by the end of May for MerMay, but the last drawing (Jinbei) ended up taking longer than expected. I actually started these in May of 2023, inspired by the mermaid designs in the live action Little Mermaid. I didn't want to post anything until at least all ten of the Strawhats were done, as I tend to pick and drop projects depending on my motivation, and I kinda got paranoid about potentially keeping people waiting for the next drawing 😅 Most of these are also the second time drawing the Strawhats as merfolk, and I'd like to post those as well for comparison. As for what kinds of animals they are:
Luffy - Mako shark
Zoro- Tiger shark
Nami - Goldfish/barracuda hybrid
Usopp - Sailfish
Sanji - Betta fish
Chopper - Leafy sea dragon
Robin - Zebra shark
Franky - Humpback whale
Brook - Chimera/ghost shark
Jinbei - Whale shark (obvs)
Vivi - Nile perch
I think these choices fit the characters for the most part, for Luffy through Brook, most of them were the same as the first time I drew them as merfolk. The ones I changed were Nami, Franky, and Brook. For Nami, I thought goldfish suited her well for name and colors, but then I read somewhere that barracuda liked shiny things, and I decided to include that as well, making her a hybrid of the two. Franky was originally a lionfish as a nod to Sunny, but I wanted to diversify the designs more and show that not all merfolk are part fish, but can be part aquatic mammal as well.
Brook was originally a random fish I don't remember, maybe a pike? But I'd seen a video about chimera and heard that they're also called "ghost sharks" and like, I couldn't think of anything more fitting 😆 For Robin, I think an octopus would've been more fitting overall, but these designs originated from a specific AU I had in mind, which is why she's a shark instead. Jinbei was obviously going to stay a whale shark, but I still had to redesign him so he'd fit with the others, and overall, I feel he may be the weakest of the designs as he was the last one I did and I was rushing to have them all done 😓
With Vivi, I did like her original design, but I felt that for a character who comes from a country inspired by Egypt, it didn't really come across in her design. I made some slight changes that could hopefully convey it more, but also differentiate her face more from Nami's.
I think overall, the designs I'm most happy with are Zoro, Nami, and Chopper. With Chopper I had this vision of fins shaped like sakura flowers and tree branches and I adore how he came out 😍🥰❤ But overall I am happy with how everyone looks, but I think improvements can be made. I'll make a separate post that shows the difference between my original designs and the new ones and include it in an edit.

Okay it's after 1am and I've had a lot of wine so obviously it's time for a late night wall-of-text post, but this time it's less likely to piss off your weird uncle or whatever because once again, I gotta talk about the best $4.99 a month I've ever spent.
Please, if you haven't yet, I'm begging you to look into all of the incredible content available on the Dropout.tv streaming service (formerly known as College Humor) . Not only did Whose Line Is It Anyway's Wayne Brady say that the Dropout crew are the only ones doing improv comedy on the same level as Whose Line, but they were also one of the only studios/streaming services allowed to work during the writers' strike because their contracts went above and beyond industry standards. (And, from my own observations, Dropout LOVES hiring queer, trans/nonbinary, and BIPOC performers + crew. Obviously I don't know much about the industry, but they seem like one of the most inclusive companies in Hollywood.)
"Alex, thanks for the recommendation! What shows do they have that you think I'll like?" Oh, you're asking me to gush about my favorite tv shows? Don't mind if I do!!!
Are you D&D curious, but took one look at actual play shows like Critical Role and thought "6 hours an episode? and there's like 750 episodes or whatever? oh baby not my adhd ass..." Don't worry, me too (sorry CR I love you I promise). But Dropout has a show called "Dimension 20" where comedians play Dungeons and Dragons with emotional, immersive storytelling, gut-busting laughs, and spectacular set design that makes you forget it's a fully improvised series controlled by the roll of the dice. They even did a miniseries perfect for D&D beginners called "Dungeons and Drag Queens" where absolute novices and Drag Race royalty Jujubee, Monet X Change, Alaska Thunderfuck, and Bob the Drag Queen embark on an adventure full of mystery, intrigue, and stupidity. I mean, Alaska plays a muscle-bound, axe-wielding, caveman-grunting Orc named Princess, what more could you want? Plus, the primary game master Brennan Lee Mulligan is so easy on the eyes. Oh, you're not into dorky ginger dudes? How about Aabria Iyengar, a 6 foot tall goddess who's equally as nerdy as Brennan but loves basketball. that's right, if nothing else, there's eye candy for every person in every season.
"Oh, why aren't there any good game shows on TV?" you wonder, wishing that the Game Show Network could come up with something that isn't a lame remake of a free-to-play phone game. Well how about Game Changer, "the only game show where the game changes every show (except for [...] Game of Games, Taskmaster, and a few others that have come to light AFTER [Game Changer first aired]. That's right, [the] players have no idea what game it is they're about to play. The only way to learn is by playing, the only way to win is by learning, and the only way to begin is by beginning." And yes, I did sit there and watch the beginning of an episode to make sure I was accurately quoting Game Changer host (and Dropout CEO) Sam Reich's description of his flaghship game show that has THREE separate spin-offs. (for context, he only mentions the other shows that copied his in the one episode I pulled up to get an accurate quote. could you imagine how uncomfortable it would be if he said that every episode? hah!)
Are you more of a traditional Whose Line fan? Look no further than Game Changer spin-off Make Some Noise, where contestants act out "improvisational prompts that [they have] never seen before, isn't that right contestants?" ("We won't know if we've seen them before or not until we see them!" Brennan insists every time he's on...)
You like musicals but wish they were less... ya know, scripted? Check out "Play It By Ear", a fully improvised musical! (you may be familiar with its primary cast members Jess McKenna and Zach Reino from the podcast that inspired it all, "Off Book: the Improvised Musical Podcast with Zach and Jess")
Or maybe you're more into trivia, cuz you're a total nerd like me (and every single performer that's ever appeared on dropout.tv). How about "Umm, Actually" where contestants are given an incorrect statement and have to buzz in to correct it - but you have to say "Umm, Actually" first!
Straight up, you can't go wrong on Dropout. Please, check it out. They're nearly doubling the amount of original shows they have in 2024, and no other streaming service is doing it like them. If I haven't convinced you yet, get the 7 day trial and give em a chance. There's no referral code I can give you that gives me some sort of kickback or whatever, I genuinely wrote what looks like a thousand word essay about Dropout at 1am just because I love them so much.

OC ref sheet!! I'm making an animatic about her so now i'm obligated to ramble about my silly goobers (i have other OCs in this story, i will write about them in future posts dw)
The lore dump shall commence!
I was planning to write all the design details on the ref sheet but uhhh...i forgor some of them:
-in their prologue version their body is segmented, kinda bug like
-she's supposed to resemble a dragonfly (their initial concept was based on a dragon but then i changed the design but it wasn t giving dragon anymore, so dragonfly it is
-pointy teeth :)
-yes i named her after an ikea couch (peak naming strategy if you ask me)
-she/they/he pronouns
-friends call them Frihe
ok now on with the actual lore
She and the other characters i'll have to write about at some point are these sort of higher beings, i call them envoys of the wind, that have way longer life spans than humans and can shape shift to look more human-like (all of them have some sort of animal feature).
I will try to not get too deep into the lore of the world these guys live in (i will make a separate post about it tho)
Basically her job was to find a way for a fallen star (they look like children btw) to regain their uhh cosmic powers (?)
Long story short her plan, although plausible in theory, failed and the star ended up dying (which, yk, left an emotional impact).
All of the envoys agreed to never attempt something like that again and disbanded. Friheten tried to bring the star back to life (well, more like, make her usable again, i will elaborate in further posts) and failed, and then started making medicine out of her feathers-yes, stars have wings.
I should also mention there is only one human settelment left in this world, a city. At this point Friheten had already moved to the city, changing their appareance to look more human (and to sort of cut ties with the past), to become a pharmacist and doctor.
If i were to describe her personality, i'd say she's cunning (deffinitely has that rizz), and a bit motherly towards really close people.

Is Arthur a character in TKN, and if he is, what kind of role does he play? I know Uther is the Villain King of the story, and I was curious on how you planned to portray Arthur, if at all? 👀
Thanks for the ask! :D
For reference, this is Uther’s appearance in TKN!
He may look cool, but trust me, he’s not a good person at all.
He’s charming (superficially), lacking empathy and a sense of guilt, a pathological liar, inclined to psychologically manipulate, bold, impulsive, narcissistic, arrogant, inclined to violence…
The list goes on, and it’s because he’s a psychopath. The word is overused and misused, but I mean it in the (current) true definition. It can be caused by “genetic and environmental issues, such as neglect or abuse by parental figures”, from Wikipedia’s article covering it.
A few risk factors are also “family history, parental neglect, abuse, or psychological manipulation of the affected child”. And depending on how I characterize his father, Constantine (The Third possibly, but idk lol), he could’ve been a sweetheart who was abused into becoming a monster, or he was the monster all along.
Either way, he destroys everyone around him, intentionally or not. He harbors secret hate towards Merlin and Charlie, because neither of them are like him at all, besides both being blatantly magic.
Realizing there’s so much I haven’t thought about…
Back in Daylight’s Redemption: Emerald Embers, Merlin had been living at Camelot for 100 years when the story started (separated from Charlie at that point; I’ll say more about that in a different post). The order of the kings I had was Vortigern, Constantine, Uther, and Arthur. Vortigern is the only one who isn’t explicitly related to them, but he was who I was going with.
The order of the kings still makes sense to me? But I don’t know how long Merlin and Charlie would’ve been living at Camelot before “present day”. T_T
Anyways, Uther is a sun coded character, like Merlin is subtly moon coded with his earrings!
Camelot has the sun as its insignia, making Merlin’s moon motifs seem like he’s rebelling against the royals’ authority. (He is. Secretly.)
Merlin actually had moon motifs back in Daylight's Redemption, to match Morgana! But when I started The King of the Nameless, I wasn't sure who the brutal sun character would be for a while, since at the "beginning" of the story, Morgana isn't even alive yet. And of course, she isn't the Morgana from Tales of Arcadia. (I'll talk more about her later.) Ignore the tag for Morgana lol; that's for ToA's version, not mine.
Finaly had a stroke of genius and decided it would be Uther! That was before he'd been designed lol, so now that he was going to have that coding, I wanted to finally give him one.
It was... difficult. He was being a bitch to design along with just. being a bitch in general. Forgot he was supposed to be 25, so I kept making dudes in their 40s in the game Dragon's Dogma, and I also couldn't decide if I wanted him to be handsome or ugly. To past me, “the first option would show that evil people can be handsome too, but I don't still don’t want people simping for him. The second option might make it unintentionally seem like 'Oh of course he’s evil! He’s ugly!’”
Made a poll asking if I should make him handsome or ugly, and handsome won! After that, I think I finally gave up and commissioned Merlin's first artist, using some references at the bottom of the post.
That's how his design finally came to be!
Then after that, his backstory that I really need to update at some point went through multiple revisions.
Idea 1: Listened to “Monster” from Epic the Musical and thought of him not always being evil until his father died; (magically related, presumably) he saw his brother, Aurelius, who was the older brother and king at this point in time, struggling under the weight of the crown and blamed it on magic doing this. Then as he grew up with Merlin as one his mentors, he realized that Merlin was insane (read: mentally ill) and felt like he was losing him, and presumed his magic did it to him.
His brother died, and his feelings towards magic taking everything from him only increased. Logical solution is, of course, eradicating magic completely so no one else would get hurt because of it (and starting with murdering Merlin). I had no idea how that would fit in with Igraine.
I didn't want to retcon Uther’s character, but I also thought a kind character becoming a monster was peak. I had no idea who a different character could be though.
Idea 2: Constantine sucked ass and Merlin basically raised Uther, but the latter's biological father still managed to get into Uther’s head that Merlin was crazy. That cued the complicated feelings of not wanting the one who raised him to die, while also thinking he needed to be put out of his misery so he wouldn't suffer anymore, and the misguided offspring betrayal. Seemed like a tragic villain at this point, and once again couldn't figure out how to make Igraine fit. He also started planning the magical genocide behind Merlin’s back because he knew that Merlin would never agree, and his reasoning was that magic took his father and brother, and he wouldn’t let that happen to anyone else.
Idea 3: Make Aurelius the asshole brother to fit the previous two ideas. Or Uther was still an asshole and he was dead. Or he faked his death or something.
@danhengsbestie and I got mixed up while talking about the third idea, and she thought I meant make Uther good and Aurelius evil, but I meant keep Uther evil and Aurelius good. She liked his design and though he could be a good guy, and that I could give him a more heroic treatment. I disagreed because if you know what he did to Igraine (and Gorlois afterwards) in the Legends, then you know.
Made another poll. Uther won, so that's what I kept.
If anyone wants to hear more about Uther, and Igraine, Gorlois, and that whole situation, send me an ask? 👀 There's some dark things there so I'd put it in a separate post so people can avoid it if they need to. Also this is getting a bit long even without their designs and things...
Ending Uther's bit with this: something funny about Charlie’s personality changing is that at one point Uther hated him for “being like him (and he doesn’t realize it)” but now their personalities are vastly different lol.
Compared to Uther’s above traits, Charlie’s serious, brave, protective (of Merlin), compassionate (towards Merlin), as well as fierce but loving and loyal, who sometimes takes a little bit longer to care about people than Merlin due to personality differences. He'll readily state his opinions and start arguments without caring, as well as having no qualms about staring people down while gauging their personality and threat level. Was at first completely normal but is now Fucked Up too.
Arthur:
I... have no official design for this dude yet. But like in many of the Legends, he's the son of Uther and Igraine! He's also the older sister of Morgana.
These are just a few of his portrayals in media, in order: King Arthur by Charles Ernest Butler, N. C. Wyeth's title page illustration for The Boy's King Arthur (1922), The Sword in the Stone (1963), The Quest for Camelot, Once Upon A Time, Merlin (2008), and Tales of Arcadia.
These are a couple of beta designs I made before I realized I wanted him to look younger, like his father, and these are also from before Uther got designed lol.
I also made a couple of Picrews for him, but now when I look at them I'm like: "Why are you white."
Because this is the color swatch I picked directly from Morgana's skin, and while her original artist said she could be any race or gender I wanted since she was designed to be ambigious, I went with her being Greek after @honeyxmonkey suggested it!
Decided to attempt another design for him while making this post, and I'm not set on it, but for now this is him lol.
I think he looks like Krel from Tales of Arcadia. 💀
Anyways, onto his portrayal!
Or former portrayal. Apparently most of this is not updated information. I'm so sorry to disappoint lol.
Some of this is a combination of Daylight’s Redemption and TKN content.
DR, January: I was thinking about Arthur struggling with trusting his magic his whole life because of Uther’s upbringing, in spite of Merlin and Morgana proving that magic can be good instead of doing an abrupt 180 as soon as Guinevere dies. Because most fics either have him hating magic the whole fic regardless of logical timelines, or have the 180, but I was thinking the struggle would be interesting because it contrasted Gwen, who’s loved magic her whole life and he loves her, Merlin, and Morgana enough to keep trying to fight his father’s opinions drilled into.
Then it’s all thrown down the drain when Bellroc stabs him and the Order makes him the Green Knight.
And Gwen dying also pushed him over the edge of after all his trying and launching the genocide out of grief despite Merlin and Morgana’s pleas.
TKN, January: Despite me starting to change the newly titled writing into a book, Guinevere was still dead due to magical means, and Arthur still started the genocide out of grief.
February: I realized Merlin being more open with his emotions meant he actually told people about his visions, which made it even more gutwrenching when Merlin told Arthur about his vision of the latter committing the magical genocide, and he was so grief stricken he did it anyways because he felt like Uther was right about everything he taught him despite him being dead for years at this point.
March: He was going to be one of four of Merlin’s adopted kids: him, Guinevere, Morgana, and Mordred. Which is very weird compared to now, where Merlin only has Charlie as his adopted kid lol. I’ll elaborate more on him and Charlie in an ask @gaylightisminetocommand sent!
Arthur was adopted first because Uther was severely lacking as a father figure (to say the least). Guinevere came to Camelot every summer to hopefully become friends with Arthur because the two were betrothed (Swan Princess, anyone?). And they did bond pretty much immediately! Morgana was adopted because at that point, she also lived in Camelot, and Uther was just as amazing with her. Same with Mordred.
Currently: Something that will stay the same from my most recent version is Arthur being nicer than some portrayals, such as Once Upon A Time, where, according to the casting call, is “a good and just ruler who, beneath the surface, is a master manipulator who can carry a grudge to the grave, and maybe beyond. He harbors an eternal burning love for Guinevere that can lean toward being a bit... controlling.”, or Tales of Arcadia, where he enacts a magical genocide after Guinevere dies. (Back then, this was because of Merlin’s influence, but if that stays the same Merlin will be more of a mentor figure than a parental one.)
Also, Mordred is still going to be related to him, but he isn’t his son like the Legends. Especially not through his mother being Morgana (or Morgause depending on the version). They’re both Arthur’s half-sisters, and there won’t be any incest in TKN at all. Mordred also won’t bring around the end of Camelot lol. I think.
Also also, he’s a great older brother to Morgana, and he and Guinevere actually have a wholesome marriage! He never has any lovers besides her, and they rule Camelot as equals.
To apologize for the lack of information, I’m also going to yap about Guinevere and Morgana!
Guinevere:
I actually have more of a set design for her!
I could've SWORN she's usually blonde at first, so I made that design first, but most images I found depict her with brown hair. So now… I can’t decide if I like blonde or brunette better. 😭
Back in January, when I was first coming up with new ideas, I thought of Morgana being a teenager instead of a grown woman like usual, and at this point, she was the child produced by ahem. The if you know thing. Her being so much younger when Uther died and being the result of the Uther thing™️ instead of Arthur caused her a lot of insecurity, but Guinevere didn’t care about the circumstances of her birth because it wasn’t her fault, and basically became an older sister to her. When she died, Morgana was shattered.
Debated on if I was going to keep her dead or not as I went through more revisions, and finally decided not to :] She’s gonna live!!!
Back when Merlin had four kids, I was debating on if he possibly would have three instead, since her just coming every summer might not be enough for him to be a dad to her. At the very least, they’d have been friends.
In her current version, she still loves Morgana, and she’s an older sister figure to her like before. And a line in God Games from Epic: the Musical applies to her: “Never once has he cheated on his wife”. The Lancelot affair destroying the round table doesn’t occur, and we love a loyal queen!
Morgana:
Like Merlin, she’s gone through a few design changes.
This was her first design! And I still think she looks cute :) It’s very different from her current one though lol.
This was way back when I first started TKN! I was thinking of inverting Arthur and Morgana’s usual designs, and making him have black hair, and her have blonde hair.
I’ll go through her ton of backstory changes like Merlin and Charlie first and reveal her design at the end!
As I said, originally, she was Uther’s daughter produced by that, a bastard child because Uther wasn’t married to her mother. He hated her because of it, even though it was the consequences of his own actions.
In the og Arthurian Legends, the result was Arthur, but I forgot which sibling it was, so I had to Google it, and I also wanted Morgana angst. Uther also treated her like shit for having magic; she was eight when it first started.
He only let Merlin train her in magic so she wouldn’t become a monster, but unbeknownst to them, he was secretly sending assassins in attempts to rid himself of her (and he might have done it to Merlin too).
Also I wasn’t very smart lol, because then I couldn’t decide if she or Arthur was going to be Igraine’s child but… in Arthurian Legends they’re both her kids. I thought they were half-siblings through Uther, not her. That’s part of why Morgana was the bastard child first, but then I couldn’t decide which one it was going to be, and apparently. I didn’t have to and I’m just stupid.
Like how I forgot Arthur was the original child by Uther in the Legends. 😭 But in my defense, I may have been thinking of BBC Merlin where they were actually half-siblings through Uther.
After my realization, I was thinking about how Merlin would become Morgana’s surrogate father because of her being Igraine and Gorlois’ daughter, and Uther wouldn’t have any claim to take her to Camelot that way; so maybe they would actually die of old age later on, and then she was taken to Camelot. (Uther was possibly still alive because he was forcing Merlin to keep him immortal. Idk. Or Arthur and Gwen were ruling Camelot by then and he wantsd to take in the half-sister he’s never met.) So anyways, she latched onto Merlin because he was nice just like her parents were, and he was magic just like her, and as much as her parents had loved her, they had never known what it was to be magic in a world that hated you.
But then @danhengsbestie said killing them off was rude lol.
Then I thought that maybe actually she could start coming to Camelot every summer or something so Merlin could teach her magic. And then she has three parents.
When Guinevere dies, she and Arthur were both heartbroken, and her grief got even worse when Arthur launched the genocide against magical beings despite her and Merlin’s pleas.
She couldn’t take being in the castle after Gwen’s funeral, and she goes out to the forest, where my equivalent of the Arcane Order at this point found her.
“Nari” sensed her soul and how much pain she was in, and they decide that her grief and young age makes her a prime target for them.
They easily manipulate her into being their pawn, and the “fight” between Merlin and her was him getting her to stand down after he tells her who they truly are.
But no one else was taking her unintentional betrayal well…
Well, that was wild. It’s gonna get even worse with Merlin and Charlie’s post lollll.
Another idea I had was Morgana getting a prosthetic arm later, like how ToA Morgana got the prosthetic hand.
And a day later, I found an adoptable that I decided was perfect! I was so glad they (designed to be an ambiguous gender as well as race lol) were still available, because I would’ve been crushed. 😭 I couldn’t believe nobody had snagged them.
They didn’t have a name either when I got them lol, but I saw them and I was like “Ohh that’s beautiful!! WAIT THAT WOULD BE A PERFECT MORGANA DESIGN”
I thought it was hilarious that I had the idea for her to have a prosthetic arm and then not even a day later bam. art.
I still have to figure out how she loses her arm and part of her left ear, along with getting the scars on her face.
The one thing that’s stayed consistent about her is being a lesbian! :D Like ToA’s is.
Back when Uther was still her stepfather, I had an idea for him being so despicable that he yelled at Morgana after she lost her arm for being that “careless” when she’d just woken up at Camelot after passing out from the blood loss and being bandaged up. Yeah that definitely won’t happen now.
I wasn’t actually going to make her Greek at first, but when I was making a reference sheet for her, her skin color came out as various shades of brown when I used a color picker tool. Before, I thought she was white because of the lighting. I thought it was my mistake, so I asked her original artist if he had a possible race for her, and he said I could decide.
Like I said, @honeyxmonkey suggested her being Greek after saying she looked vaguely Latina lol, and I ran with it! I also made a few Picrews of her during the figuring out her race part, and you can see how she changed! The third one is actually still a little bit lighter than her color swatch lol.
Oh also, she gets a familiar eventually! :D Her name is Willa!
Since Charlie is one of the biggest animal familiars currently existing, she’ll definitely be smaller than him, but other than that I don’t have a current size for her lol.

[image description: photos of a Breath of the Wild-themed hanafuda card deck, art rendered with hand-drawn inks and colors printed letterpress from linoleum blocks. hanafuda are a Japanese style of playing cards where the faces only use imagery, with no pips, ranks, or point values printed. there are 12 suits of 4 cards each, 48 total. in the classic deck design, suits are unified by particular flowers or plants; in this version the unifying elements for each suit are plants, creatures, or items from Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. suits of horses, Guardians, koroks, dragons, ex. there are also photos of the small linocuts used to print each color, one cut for every color on each card. cards are about 1 3/8 inch by 2 1/8 inch. end description.]
🎊🎊 tadaaaaa 🎊🎊 here tis, my craftalong project for Desert Bus for Hope 2024! the event starts Nov. 8th this year, and this card deck is up for silent auction starting 6pm PST on Saturday the 9th.
hanafuda!! very very fun to get familiar with this card deck and its games. i think about doing other formats of card deck all the time and always just have to wait for a subject matter that compels me to intersect with a structure that interests me. nintendo started out producing card decks, and maybe they have made LoZ hanafuda in the past—i didn't find one but i'm truly bad at web research—anyway there isn't one available now, only a 52-card deck with alternate Zelda art.
i limited the scope to BotW for lots of reasons, big one being keeping the suits tightly defined to specific things and places, & utilizing one singular map type/environment interface. even adding TotK seemed like a nightmare for keeping suit assignments tidy. each place is a specific location in-game (with some adjustments for better composition, like, Akkala tower is there behind Foothill Stable, but i made the angles of the view cleaner), and wherever applicable, items rendered with surrounding context are done as a specific location where that item appears in-game (the sword in the rock is a real place, where you can pick up a rusty sword and see the Great Plateau Tower beyond). i'll admit to some extra heavy lifting on Satori Mountain but i only actually cheated once: Silent Princess flowers don't grow at the Springs around the statues of Hylia. but that's it!! everything else is real.
the Brights are the Master Sword, Hyrule Castle, the Blood Moon, Hylia, and the Dragons; tanzaku are shrines and towers; instead of Boar-Deer-Butterfly it's Rudania-Naboris-Medoh; instead of sakura-viewing and moon-viewing parties there are…………oh no and oh NO parties?? (guardian stalker + hyrule castle, stalker + blood moon.) in these photos, the suits are laid out in order, January to December. I made a little guide to go in the box based on the one for Nintendo's Mario Hanafuda, which also includes instructions for playing Koi-Koi.
8 colors, 88 blocks, +1 very simple reduction cut for the Sheikah eye on the back side. the classic deck is completely blank on the back, but if i hadn't done the eye i think the deck would've been missing some kind of unifying umbrella. and if you're asking yourself, hey, even with overage it’s only 5 copies of each card, why not hand color the cards? i also asked this. i tried some things and unfortunately did not like the texture at all. Only 88 little lino cuts would do for my brain worms. each card is two layers of 120# cover cross-laminated together. the drawings went down first on each copy; the back sides were printed on separate sheets before lamination. laminated, pressed, colors printed post-lamination, then each card die cut out of the 3x3 inch sheet. i very much like the color palate that came out of it; since the pen drawings went down before colors i printed the grey first to find the bottom end of the value range, bookended it with the yellow, and filled in the middle. my favorite color of the bunch turns out to be the soft brown, or maybe the "gold" with no metallic in it.
i would say this card deck was about as much work as last year's tarot deck but it wasn't all the same kind of work—i didn't have to trawl through a novel of text for excerpts and battle feelings of intellectual inadequacy to have confidence in my reading comprehension, for instance. i had to learn how to draw, like, 20 things i hadn't drawn before, and carve 88 little lino cuts, but it's just not the same kind of effort. long hours, but largely calmer. the tiny but thicc little cards are so nice to hold. i am quite happy with the style of the illustrations i found, trying to make them recognizable objects, so small, and two-color. all in all very satisfying!! (confession: i logged quite a bit of footage from my own BotW playthrough to get reference material but i still haven't actually finished Medoh myself. or fought Ganon. i keep putting it off to mess around and get armor upgrades instead. gotta get to that finally.)
wip
under the cut: the body of the little game guide that went in the box, with instructions for Koi-Koi and explainers on the yaku.

FEMALE MOVIE/TV RECS (PART 1 / FANTASY)
got inspired from a recommendation post so decided to make a list of movies and shows with female-centric stories/female protagonists. since i can't post all of the genres in one post, i'll split it into multiple posts and y'all can save or add to the list as you wish. (disclaimer: i have watched most of these, but i only know about the existence of others. not every movie/show on these lists will be my recommendation. my recommendations will be beneath the list with reasons. also some of these are way better than others in terms of storytelling/performance--which is why i'll list my faves separately):
#1. FANTASY/ADVENTURE (LIVE ACTION)
Common Themes of Media In the List:
-Strong female friendships
-Romance critical (or anti-romantic centrism)
-Emphasis on female-female relationships
-Warrior girls and women
-Revenge against awful men
-Distrust of male love interests
Ones I Haven't Watched:
His Dark Materials
Everything Everywhere All At Once
Paradise Hills
Crimson Peak
Outlander
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina
House of the Dragon
The Nevers
Cursed
NOT LISTED BUT QUALIFIES
Pan's Labyrinth
Mary Poppins
Twilight
The Craft
The BFG
PERSONAL NOTES FOR THE ONES I'VE WATCHED
The School for Good and Evil
5/10
There were many things about it that were good. The chemistry between the two leading actresses, the primacy of friendship over romance, the effects, the costume and set design, the insane cast (Charlize Theron, Cate Blanchett, Michelle Yeoh, Kerry Washington?!) and the score. Some of the performances were good, too. The pitfalls of the film had more to do with the writing and directing. Some scenes were rushed, some dialogue was embarrassingly bad, some plot points were just nonsensical and childish. The magic system was also not well executed (though I've seen worse).
It's mostly mid, but the ending is refreshing for the fairytale genre and if you like fairytale fluff, you'll probably be more willing to forgive the film's transgressions. If you can, there'll be a lot of fun left to have with it.
2. Damsel
6.5/10
More action than fantasy and with a much smaller cast. Most of the movie focuses on Millie's character. The performances in this were pretty good, though. If you like heroines getting revenge, non-cliche fantasy stories involving princesses, and dragons, this movie is right up your alley! Also the costuming is delightful! It's predictable, but it is also entertaining.
3. Willow
7/10
This show was just fun. Fantastic effects, female heroics, tomfoolery, lesbians, action, evil forces, cool costuming, lesbians, sword-play, riddle-solving, dumbass princes, sarcastic mentors, and lesbians! This show knew exactly what it was trying to be. Aside from some poor performances, my overall impressions is positive.
4. Wednesday
7/10
I personally enjoy Wednesday Addams' character wherever I see her. Having a whole show of her was just a treat. I didn't care for the typical highschool-shenanigans (like the cliques) as much, but there were many enjoyable elements in this for me. Particularly, the effects, the crime, the other female characters, and the ending. It's entertaining and pretty to look at. Also I'm always on my wenclair propaganda.
5. Shadow & Bone
6/10
I've read the Six of Crows duology and the first book of the Shadow & Bone trilogy, so for me this show was a let down. For new watchers, however, you'll find interesting female characters, cool effects, and an entertaining (though sometimes choppy) plot. Inej Ghafa is my queen forever, regardless.
6. Renegade Nell
7/10
This is puts the fantasy in revenge fantasy. I love all the actresses from Derry Girls, and Louisa Harland is still charming in this. It's basically if Gentleman Jack (same director, I think) and Tinkerbell teamed up. Or if Little Women was also Pirates of the Caribbean but instead of taking to the sea it was highway robbery! The action sequences are so fun, the villains are nuanced (particularly the villainess) the comedy isn't overbearing (like I forgot I was watching a Disney show tbh) and the silly towel boy from Ted Lasso is here! I personally had fun. I hope it's renewed.
7. Alice in Wonderland/Through the Looking Glass
7/10 (i love these so much so it's 8/10 for me)
It sucks that Depp is in this, but I can never ever forsake my girl Mia Wasikowska. I just love these movies. I love the design, the music, the costumes, the irreverence toward marriage and romance, Alice's personality and relationship with her mother, how it tackles the pathologisation of female autonomy, the performances, etc. The books are one of my favorite books of all time so there's that.
8. Maleficent
7/10
I really loved the performances in this, the metaphor for rape, the satisfying revenge. I don't mind that it was cliché. I love Maleficent movies. AND the Lana Del Ray cover for "Once Upon A Dream." Also, the first one makes me tear up every time. The mother-daughter love is just so touching to me.
9. Warrior Nun
(?/10)
I love the premise of this show and I can get behind the characters. The protagonist just annoyed me so much so often I have taken multiple breaks and can't remember the story. I am all for imperfect, asshole girl characters. But this protagonist was just whiny and careless beyond reason. And it was taking too long for her to get with the nuns. Like I was not invested enough in her running away arc. Like sis get your ass to the coven you are not that main of a character!
She took up so much screentime when literally every other character in the show was more interesting than she was.
At least there's lesbians.
10. Snow White & The Huntsman
(8/10)
What can I say? Kristen Stewart was hot in this, as was stepmother. Effects? Stellar. Direction? Stellar. Performance? Mostly stellar. Drama? Action? Magic? All there. Thoroughly entertaining. Refreshingly anti-Disney. Unfortunately there are some annoying men involved (I'm talking about the dwarves of course) but it never gets too overbearing. This is, however, the least feminist of the entire list and scores lowest on the above common themes.

if it hasn't been asked already. revolver for the ask game? your postings are fun to read
smacks my desk MY BOY, THANK YOU FOR GIVING HIM TO ME. also thank you that's so sweet of you to say
Why I like them/why I don’t Where do I even start-
He's one of the most honourable characters in the whole franchise. He's ridiculously composed, that the few times he's rattled you know it's significant. He's carrying the sins of his father like they're his own, even though he was eight when the incident happened. But it's like he understands he's the only one who can carry that burden and deliver closure to the ones affected because he wasn't one of the perpetrators, but was still involved and wrapped up in it all.
But he's also a dork who strikes poses during duels. His deck consists of gun and bullet dragons. He's so extra and camp in the best way and is never not taken as a very serious threat. He's one of the strongest duelists in the show. He doesn't consider himself a victim of anything. He was willing to die at the end of S1. He regularly finds the villain of the arc/his enemies first and almost murks them. He's connected to flower and ocean imagery. He gave one of the most beautiful description about loved ones who has passed away I've ever heard. He cares So Much but isn't the best at showing it, yet can help in just the way others need. He hates himself so damn much. But does not let that get in the way of what he believes needs to be done. But he's not completely close-minded either.
Ryoken's just such an amasing character. I love him so much.
What I like about their appearance Everything Since I did the same for Aoi I'll do both his real world and LV designs.
Ryoken: Gorg. Beautiful beautiful boy. I love the soft tones used for his eyes and the blue in his hair. The feathery side bangs are so pretty. And I'm so weak for white hair. I'm not above to admitting I'm not fond of his outfit, but that's just because it's very far from my taste in clothes. I don't think it's as bad as people claim it is though. Love his pink shirt, and that his colour scheme overall in the real world is very soft-toned and almost pastel in contrast to the bolder colours used in his avatar. And of course the eyes, and the eyelashes. My god he is so pretty.
Revolver S1: I like this design! I do think it's usurped by his second avatar, but they share a majority of the same elements and design points, so I'll cover those in the next part. I think his mask is pretty cool ngl, and it's Very yummy to chew on for analysis. The red hair with lighter shades running up the sides looks great as well.
Revolver S2-3: I do think this is just, an absolutely banging design. The way it's separated into parts through use of colours and lines. Love the long gloves, and the coat is so cool, it really adds to his presence. The second avatar did a good I think by adding these cut-ins at the hips to give it more definition and volume.
The new hair colour is really good too, adds another change besides the mask showing more of his face to show his growth from the last time we saw him. Like a visual sign he's mellowed out after the breakdown he had in the S1 finale. Especially love the grey-violet eye colour they gave him, it's really nice. And that visor.... I know it's a crime they hide half of his beautiful face, but it's also so exciting to catch glimpses of his fringe under it. And it does look cool, I can't lie.
And of course I have to point out the bullet earrings. Top tier design. Just immaculate. It's so distinct and memorable. It even got made into official merch. Just iconic.
Do I prefer their dub names or original names? His name only gets a letter hacked off in the dub, thankfully, but I cannot take Varis seriously. It's a bit silly, but also in my first language it's spelled and sounds very close to a word for something less than pleasant =_=
OTP Datastormshipping my beloved, datastorm my everything. I can say so much about them but it would make this post even longer.
NOTP Datastorm is such an otp to me that I don't romantically ship either Ryoken or Yusaku with any other character. I don't think anything comes close to NOTP status for me with Ryoken though.
OT3 But I can accept Ai into the mix, since I see him and Yusaku as very queerplatonic.
Favourite card they use Am I basic if I say Borreload Dragon. I love that giant gun boy so much. The colour scheme is very nice, especially with the contrasting teal wings.
But also. Mirror Force is so iconic. It is SO FUNNY they had Revolver use Mirror Force and built it up so much. And for Link monsters it technically is! They can't be put in defense position! How effective it is makes it even funnier. You know he was having a blast blindsiding people with all these old trap cards.
Favourite moment they were in I can't pick one oh god-
Okay but, seriously I can't pick just one. He has so many good moments over the course of the show. All the duels against Yusaku. The first irl conversation he has with Yusaku. First time using Storm Access. Crashing the Ignis reunion party and curbstomping Windy into putty. The due against Lightning. The AFTERMATH of the duel against Lightning. Both duels against Takeru. The final scene between Ryoken and Yusaku. Yeah no I can't pick one. And a lot of his best moments are built from past scenes and the development he's had across the show.
Least favourite moment None, my perfect boy has done nothing wrong in his whole life- /j

I need to talk about Adrian's character design (And why his Villain defeat bothers me)
I just really like his design. Not only because it is a sick-ass 90s-early 2000s design. But because it incorporates dragon elements perfectly.
What do I mean? Well you see, Adrian is half fire-dragon. Now here's the thing, right? You'd think that detail would be more important. And not just a throw away line to get into how Nicky was told his mother was a goat his whole life. After all, that detail is all over his design. The etching on his coat looking like dragon scales, the flames on it, his turtleneck top also having a scale pattern, and his dragon claw on his finger. Even in terms of being a prince, it exceeds that aswell. The fuzz on the end of his sleeves, the cool demon necklace, the kick-ass satanic logo on the back. And the hair? Well, it just looks cool. Overall, it makes him look very regal and villanous which makes sense as he is the major big bad of the film and the one that actually manages to be king. It also captures his smart and cunning aura.
Even his Satan look, though very ugly, also had dragon details on him. What with the literal spikes on his red robe and how in the movie when he drops down, it mimics that of the dragon. So you'd think since they put it all over his design, that it'd be important. Right? Right? Fuck no.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm not ungrateful for Bat Adrian. I love this little goober. But in terms of story, it's a letdown. Then you see his defeat. Then it became a cop out. He's defeated by Ozzie Osborn (yes the Ozzie Osborn) biting his bat head off and then getting spit out into the flask. For a villain so great, he had a pretty lame defeat. (I mean seriously. Adrian could've easily flown away there. But he just stood there to be grabbed because of plot I guess). Y'know what would've been better? If Adrian ends up turning into a big horrible dragon. And Nicky has to slay him, but thinks it's impossible because he's a massive dragon. THEN he gets help from Ozzie and using holy magic, he turns into a sword and Nicky uses it to fight Adrian and cut his head off. It would've been so much more epic than what we got. And if I could get a little self indulgent here;
That's a dragon skeleton. I just figured it out recently that that's what it was. And Adrian and Cassius sat near it which would've been a great bit of foreshadowing to Adrian's defeat here. (Also real talk for a second but it's been bugging me if dragons are native to hell in this universe or not and this bit answers that for me). It would've been so awesome and so cool to have the final battle be like that and much more rewarding and satisfying. But no no, he had to turn into a bat so that Ozzie could eat him because while performing on stage, a fan threw a dead bat on stage and he picked it up and ate it's head off. Jeez, that's so funny. I'm laughing right now typing this (sarcasm btw). And that's the thing with this movie for me. I can't properly put it into words just yet but a small part of feels like the movie prioritizes comedy than anything important. Of course you should prioritize comedy in a comedy and it's not like the story is bad. It's good actually. And maybe I'm expecting too much from a movie made by Adam Sandler of all people. But I feel like this movie could be so much more, and do so much more. But that's going have to be a discussion for another time in a separate post.
That's about it. Overall, I just think it should've played into the dragon aspect and give a pretty good villain and much more better defeat than what we got (maybe it would've been even funnier but it's probably going to be in a "wtf" kinda way than a genuianly funny way but who knows).
I have alot more to say about this film (both in praise and criticism) so look out for that. If I have more to say on this topic I'll reblog. Bye!

do we need another long post about the house of the undying? no but i needed to put all my thoughts in one place and i’m merely giving the people what they want.
obviously spoilers all the through the end of the series, and the winds of winter, and also we’re doing some predicting here. i welcome disagreement and debate but if you're gonna be mean keep it pushing for the love of god. most up to date graphic and then let’s goooooooo-
key
first of all, please understand i'm not positing that george was thinking about elements this concretely when he was designing these prophies. i'm not not saying that either but it's mostly just to help ME visualize the events and look for patterns. "why is there no air" because. that's why. the white text is stuff that is not related to a specific moment with an element.
secondly, i started highlighting the figurative language because i see a lot of discussion on literal v figurative. i think people contradict themselves a lot in this regard - you'll see someone go from "if the towers aren't literal towers than we can't trust the prophecies at all" to "well this one is more figurative and that's fine" within a paragraph. i think this is all completely silly. george is writing what sounds best to him and sometimes its literal and sometimes its figurative and that's fine.
and lastly, i also kinda split it up into two pieces - the threes and the visions. again, not saying they aren't related but i am saying they're slightly separated.
spoken prophecies
three fires you shall light - one for life, one for death, and one to love
so FIRST OF ALL i do wonder if there’s a pattern here - ie first thing refers to the dothraki time period, second to meereen/essos in general, third to westeros, or something similar. there’s some that seem more obvious, and when you look at it, it sort of seems to fit that pattern - that’s kind of what the color coding is, it started when i thought i saw a pattern there. i think it's really notable that a lot of the stuff in the first row have clearly already happened - except the treason for blood which i'll get to later.
for life is drogo’s funeral pyre that brings to life her dragons, this one feels like the obvious & correct conclusion. however i don’t want to say like “one hundred percent” bc what if george pulls something else. u get me. but imo it makes sense that one or two things would have happened already, to confirm to dany it’s true telling, and would stick out obviously in her memory. am i over explaining something really obvious lol.
for death is not as obvious. there’s a few options, for now i have landed on either the upcoming battle in meereen (it’s gonna go on a while) or whatever is happening in Vaes Dothrak/with the Dothraki. both those are very close events that to me feel like a kind of…hinge point? i guess in her story. like arya getting on the boat to braavos, sansa coming to the vale, jon becoming lord commander, etc etc, they’re jumping into a new part of their story, and both of these events are specific "fire light" moments that will change the trajectory of dany's story. i think it will be the first time we see her use drogon offensively, with the explicit aim of killing someone when she says dracarys, hence the “for death.”
to love...listen so the thing is regardless of how she REACTS to it, or the details on how it happens, i think it makes complete sense that dany is the one to set off the wildfire pots. i’m not saying she’s going to ~rah go mad~ but i am saying it’s been a Thing in her family to play around with wildfire anyway (aegon iv, aegon v, aerion, AND her father all play with it!) and it’s her father that put the pots there, it just makes so much more sense narratively for dany to be the one to deal with the legacy aerys left behind and one of the biggest Chekho'vs Guns in the series. i love the joncon & young griff & golden company stuff but introducing the wildfire as aerys' creation just for two characters who are very disconnected from aerys and the kl plotline to flow it up does not have the emotional impact of a character we’ve been following for Every Book being actively involved with the accidental destruction of the city her family built, and the city her dad took steps to try to blow up (who we see talking about blowing it up in a vision right before this!!).
now while i think “a fire to love” is likely about the event of king’s landing going up, i think there’s a lot of options for what that even means. i think it’s going to be OBVIOUS when it does happen, because the first fire is obvious & imo what the second one involves also seems obvious (and other prophecies, like the Ghost of High Heart’s Lady Stoneheart prophecy, are fairly obvious when they’re spoken like this (patchface doesn’t count). But i think its not quite obvious YET simply because there’s minimum 2k pages left lol. My gut feeling here is the fire to love will be about the wildfire pots though!
three mounts you will ride - one to bed, one to dread, and one to love
one to bed seems kind of obvious here as well; dany mounting her silver to her marriage bed with Drogo.
one to dread is murkier. lot of theories but the one i lean towards is the greyjoy fleet/a ship. the dothraki refer to ships as “wooden horses” and "wooden mounts" so it fits the mount theme, and it’s certainly dreadful, both that she’s likely to be paranoid about them (bc of the kraken & dark flame warning) and because dany & her new fleet are on their way to start conquering westeros.
one to love…it’s drogon. we use different meanings of “to” both times before - one to bed, literally a mount that takes her to a place, and one to dread, the greyjoy fleet and the “dread” of them being untrustworthy, and of landing in westeros. it makes sense to me that this “to” is a third use of the word "to"- talking not of a literal or metaphorical place the mount takes her, but of the feelings she has for the mount. and whatever romances or husbands she may have, drogon will always be her greatest love.
three treasons you shall know…once for blood, once for gold, and once for love
this section is difficult for me. dany believes they have all happened but not onlyy do i not believe she’s gotten it right, more and more i'm coming around on the idea that none of them have happened yet. what's more is that the events we likely have already gotten (mount to bed, fire for life) are very obvious but nothing really sticks out to me as an obvious betrayal for either blood, gold, or love!
i’ve played with ideas about how SHE is the one doing treasons to someone else but i’m still very much on the fence here. i think it’s likely these treasons are going to come from WELL KNOWN characters, likely even POV characters. i’ve gotten stuck on the word “know” - does it mean she’ll simply learn of three reasons that happen? that feels like “well the valonqar doesn’t HAVE to be CERSEI’S brother” copium to me though. the reality is....i'm not sure lmao.
once for blood… anyways i don’t think mmd is the treason for blood - mmd doesn’t betray dany! drogo doesn’t listen to mirri’s instructions, jorah doesn’t listen to mirri’s instructions, and mirri is not acting vindictively she’s acting defensively. she does not betray dany, though i would argue that dany betrays her - you could argue it’s for blood as in for rhaego, for mmd’s magical abilities for the sacrifice, but i’m unsure about that and i think the fact that dany is so confident makes me believe it's not this.
once for gold
The wealth of the westerlands was matched, in ancient times, with the hunger of the Freehold of Valyria for precious metals, yet there seems no evidence that the dragonlords ever made contact with the lords of the Rock, Casterly or Lannister. Septon Barth speculated on the matter, referring to a Valyrian text that has since been lost, suggesting that the Freehold's sorcerers foretold that the gold of Casterly Rock would destroy them.
from twoiaf. it might be talking about tyland & jason taking the gold from the treasury which directly leads to the death of the dragons + jaime fucking up aerys but i feel like why mention that now and not earlier if it was meant to apply to past events?? nah, i think someone is selling dany out for lannister gold. who tho?? again, unsure lol. i can see several scenarios - one of her sellsword allies flipping for gold, maybe a greyjoy (??) flipping for gold. i had the thought that tyrion would get her to westeros, then flip on her because aegon offers him lord of casterly rock as a title outright - literally flipping for lannister gold - but i don’t know that dany wouldn’t just promise him the lordship outright in essos tbh so.
once for love - again, fuck if i know and i’m not confident of any predictions i’ve had or have seen.
what i noticed is that the last part in each of these three groups are likely to do with the burning of KL - the mount to love being drogon, the fire for love being the burning of KL. so perhaps the treason for love will be tied to the fire for love and mount to love, and it’s a love that is one and the same - dany will betray her people because of her love for drogon with the burning of KL.
obviously…someone my predictions here run on a theme - dany will clash violently with people in vaes dothraki and meereen (at minimum & obvious), dany will Be Involved with KL burning, and yes it will probably involve her doing something from dragonback. if you asked me “take away any theory about dany setting off the wildfire, what are you most confident in” it’s the mounts for sure. i think three different mounts, a horse, a ship, and a dragon, all make sense. i think one to bed feels obvious, one to dread Is A Ship even if it’s not greyjoy related, and one to love is clearly drogon. i’m also pretty conspiracy brained about the lannister gold!! but it’s also like…fire for death….she uses her dragon to kill…fire to love…involved with the plot her dad started….we can debate the context but i think the EVENT is correct.
vision sequence
Viserys screamed as the molten gold ran down his cheeks and filled his mouth.
obvious, it happened on page already. i'm noting here that both of her brothers died at the hands of a younger relative (Viserys by Dany, Rhaegar by Robert) who immediately takes their title.
A tall lord with copper skin and silver-gold hair stood beneath the banner of a fiery stallion, a burning city behind him.
Seems likely to be rhaego, given the dothraki look with targaryen hair and the fiery (his mama) stallion (his pops) as his sigil. Also notable to me that all three men are direct relatives - her brothers and her son.
Rubies flew like drops of blood from the chest of a dying prince, and he sank to his knees in the water and with his last breath murmured a woman's name.
obvious from contexts clues that this is rhaegar dying on the trident. name he’s saying could be lyanna, but i am a “he said visenya” truther.
mother of dragons, daughter of death . . .
her brothers both die young, violent deaths. her unborn son, rhaego, can never fulfill the prophecy because of his premature death. all three men shown are descended from aerys & rhaella’s line ie potential princes in the prince that was promised prophecy. all three must die in order for dany to rise as the prince.
“daughter of death” meaning she outlived all the sons of death, even the son who knew about the prophecy, so all that’s left to be prince is the daughter, the true prince that was promised.
Glowing like sunset, a red sword was raised in the hand of a blue-eyed king who cast no shadow.
Stannis - blue eyed king, with Melisandre’s fake burning sword and shadow shenanigans. It’s interesting when you bring in the “slayer of lies” line because - what specifically is the lie she’s slaying? That Stannis is Azor Ahai, the PTWP? Or is it MOSTLY to do with Lightbringer being fake? Does Melisandre factor into it at all? And do all three sections point to the same lie or different lies??
A cloth dragon swayed on poles amidst a cheering crowd.
less obvious - i tend towards the cloth dragon being victarion. dany calls the cloth dragon a “mummer’s dragon” as in she believes it’s a puppet. but crucially, it doesn’t say mummer’s dragon in that section! i find it unlikely that the cloth dragon and the mummer’s dragon are the same person!
However, as I note, he DOES have a fake horn - perhaps she slays the lie that the horn is real? i think i just a feeling the lie of the sword and the horn are linked but maybe i am cornplating here. i also think, if we take victarian as the cloth dragon, it's interesting that you have stannis being propped up by a rholloric priestess, and victarian being propped up by a rholloric priest. that feels like another azor ahai prophecy link.
From a smoking tower, a great stone beast took wing, breathing shadow fire.
it could be euron, with the towers being the ten towers at oldtown, where he currently is. could be stannis, meli loves to talk about stone dragons. it could be dany & drogon - her dragon awoken from stone.
now, IF the second one (cloth dragon) is in fact victarion, i think it’s a little weird that this is euron bc then it’s two greyjoys in a row. but i suppose that’s not disqualifying, it’s not like the greyjoys are trustworthy.
mother of dragons, slayer of lies . . .
i'm even more fuzzy on this one than i am on the "stone dragon" one to be honest. what are the lies. it’s more than one lie right. or is it a singular lie. is it azhor ahai. is it something else. i had this thought that like, the first is about the lie that stannis has lightbringer - he doesn’t bc lightbringer isn’t even a sword, it’s drogon. the second lie is about the lie of the horn - victarian thinks he can take drogon from her but he is wrong. the third is euron raising squid stuff - he thinks he can raise a creature equal to hers, he is wrong. perhaps its about another object that euron has, similar to the sword and the horn? i keep coming back to it even though, every time i type it out, i look at what i wrote like “who let this man cook."
i will say what's interesting is that the daughter of death section is very tied to the prince that was promised prophecy - dany inheriting the prince title after outliving all the other princes, rhaegar literally invoking the prophecy with his last breath - and this section seems more focused on azor ahai.
Her silver was trotting through the grass, to a darkling stream beneath a sea of stars.
the obvious scene is dany riding her silver to her wedding BUT. note the "darkling stream beneath a sea of stars" in the description - the dothraki believe that the afterlife is riding forever in the grass lands. there’s a death association in this section.
A corpse stood at the prow of a ship, eyes bright in his dead face, grey lips smiling sadly.
i think it’s obvious WHAT this is but not quite obvious WHO it is (note corpse in parentheses). we literally see euron do this to aeron, and more it’s the corpse that is smiling sadly, indicating that the Corpse is the Greyjoy. BUT the corpse could technically be ANYONE who a greyjoy nails to the prow. also note death stuff again.
A blue flower grew from a chink in a wall of ice, and filled the air with sweetness
obviously jon is the blue flower, whose actions cause a chink in the nights watch (or a chink in the wall). i think this one is so goofy and i hate it skdjdj because the other two feel so mysterious and then this one is just a pin drop on jon’s location 🤧 however i would like to note that sweetness is not usually associated with good things in this series. it’s often used to mask poison, literally & metaphorically. this could mean like, so many things, but the death imagery in all three just goes WAY HARD.
mother of dragons, bride of fire . . .
there's a lot of "these will be her great loves" stuff but i'm not totally sure that's where it ends. i don't think this is inherently about dany being married to these three (four?) men. instead, i think the “bride of fire” is meant as a parallel to robb’s “true wife” being his sword. what they choose is their battles, and violence, and not any specific person to truly be wed to. see here:
She looked at her son, watched him as he listened to the lords debate, frowning, troubled, yet wedded to his war. He had pledged himself to marry a daughter of Walder Frey, but she saw his true bride plain before her now: the sword he had laid on the table.
visions part two
again, this part is all over the place. a lot of this has already happened by a dance with dragons.
Shadows whirled and danced inside a tent, boneless and terrible.
This is blood magic that mmd did to bring drogo back to life and claimed the life of dany's son, rhaego.
A little girl ran barefoot toward a big house with a red door.
This is Dany as a child. Interesting that she refers to herself as "a little girl" kind of separating herself from the vision she is in.
Mirri Maz Duur shrieked in the flames, a dragon bursting from her brow.
Waking the dragons, becoming the mother of dragons through blood sacrifice.
Behind a silver horse the bloody corpse of a naked man bounced and dragged.
The wineseller who attempts to kill her.
A white lion ran through grass taller than a man.
the lion drogo kills and gifts her in the dothraki sea.
Beneath the Mother of Mountains, a line of naked crones crept from a great lake and knelt shivering before her, their grey heads bowed.
The crones of vaes dothraki - this one doesn't seem to have happened yet and "naked crones" "shivering before her" feels like it's going to involve however she gets out of Vaes Dothrak. Very sinister feeling here to me.
Ten thousand slaves lifted bloodstained hands as she raced by on her silver, riding like the wind. "Mother!" they cried. "Mother, mother!" They were reaching for her, touching her, tugging at her cloak, the hem of her skirt, her foot, her leg, her breast. They wanted her, needed her, the fire, the life, and Dany gasped and opened her arms to give herself to them.
Obviously the myhsa scene. I think it's interesting how she associates herself with "the fire" "the life" and how she's being grabbed at.
But then black wings buffeted her round the head, and a scream of fury cut the indigo air, and suddenly the visions were gone, ripped away, and Dany's gasp turned to horror.
this is just so sinister to me. Drogon ending the vision sequence and her gasp turning to horror - feels bad scoob!
idk how to end this.
um dany is azor ahai and the prince that was promised but i don't think this is a good thing even a little bit. also drogon is lightbringer.

Hello!! First: I think calling your asks a mail box is so cute )::
Secondly: Are.. you a nightwing? Have you ever thought about mixing TDCA with WOF?? I personally see sun and moon as a nightwing sandwing hybrid who was cursed by magic to switch forms between the light and the dark ::3 but I would love to hear your thoughts!! (If you don’t care much for WOF still would love to hear your thoughts on dragon versions of sun and moon !!) - Muffiiee
TYSM!^^ I might change it eventually, as I had it like that because I was playing around with my phone notification sounds skkdjwjeej. I'll probably keep it for a while tho!
Also, the "I wonder who it's from!" in the gif immediately made me think of Blues Clues akdbdbdbdbbb
And no, I'm not a Nightwing. Dw tho! A lot of people get her confused! She actually has a separate WoF design (Rain/Night) that's on my TH!^^ Her regular design is non-wof.
And yes, I have! AKJSJSHSHHS i finally get to talk about them! I am currently working on the WoF!DCA lore (at least for my renditions).
Base by LotusMoon
They're separate dragons in mine, and they're brothers! They're Sand/night hybrids with just a biiit of Skywing heritage (hence Sunny's tail!)
They ended up working for Thorn in the Scorpion Den during the tail end of the war as caretakers, mainly caring for injured and orphaned dragonets.
After the war, they decide to start a daycare/orphanage, considering there were still many displaced dragonets during the war. (Mind you, they're still 17 or so in human years at this time, so probably 6-7 in dragon years and still considered dragonets. Around the same age as the DoD ig idk anymore lol)
I don't have their lore figured out much beyond that though-
(However, I have thought about pulling these two into my Ninjago Multiverse AU. Galaxy, (my sona) is the MC of that au and got dragged to the Pizzaplex to stop the virus via her Portals, and now works there. Sun and Moon have accidentally ended up on two adventures with her (Hunger Games and an MLP infection world). Maybe I'll add a third at some point, and DCA Sun and Moon end up dragons for a while ajdjdhjd)
I also have a few OCs I want to involve in their lore somehow. I was actually writing in that specific Google doc when I got this ask LMAO-
I can give you a few snippets if you want! :D (Some of it not Sun and Moon related specifically, but I might tie the other character's story into theirs later! (If I make full fledged fics, I'll probably post em in a similar style to the WoF books; one in Skyfrost's pov, one in Sun's, one in Moon's, ect. Although, I'm already working on two fnaf fics and many little smaller drabbles so it might be a while before I get anything very long XD)
#galaxy rambles#sorry if this is a bit long ajjsjdbdbdbr#i rarely get asks at all so having a chance to ramble is awesome! :3#dca fandom#fnaf dca#wings of fire#fnaf daycare attendant

Introduction post (Updated)
Hello, and welcome to my blog!
Open up to read more info about it.
About me
My name is Ram, you can also call me Re, Dram or Rered. I use He\Him pronounce, but don't mind any pronounce at all. I'm pansexual agender and happily taken .3
I'm 22 years old artist, but I also really like voice acting and cooking. My other interests are video games and dragons in any shape and form. I live in Russia, so I can speak on 2 languages.
About my stuff
I draw various stuff, mostly furries, monsters, dragons, and fandom stuff! Currently as this post being created, I dived deep into Rain World fandom, so most of the stuff you'll see here is RW related.
!Content Warning!
I may keep this blog sfw, but I DO draw violent stuff from time to time, such as:
Gore
Violence
Blood
Physical and mental manipulation
Horror stuff
Unnerving images
I usually put respective TWs and CWs before the post, but please, watch those only if you're sure you'll handle such. I don't say that I'm ace in drawing that, but my standarts of if it's traumatizing or not are more hardcore, since I'm more mature and traumatized myself.
Interactions
Gonna point it out so there won't be any questions.
I do allow
✓ Art interactions, such as art trades, art gifts, character interacrions and other fun stuff. I honestly like those, and could overreact if you draw me some sort of gift, bc I'm not used to it. But that's okay!
✓ Text interactions like dms and asks. Gonna clarify 2 things about it:
1. I don't mind speaking with ppl, but I do have anxiety. If you want to chat, please don't just say "hi" and void, state your point and ask away. I don't bite, but I can run away bc of my sociophobia, lol
2. If you're under 18, you're still allowed to dm me, BUT keep it NSFW free, for both yours and my safety, okay? Some of my friends are minors, and I don't mind speaking with such, but again, keeping everything clear.
✓ Collabs. If you suddenly want me for some project, like drawing something or voicing a character, don't be afraid to ask me out for it!
Extra note on my reposts. I rarely do that, since I want this blog focused on my stuff, but if I do repost some stuff, consider yourself lucky. I do it only for 2 reasons:
1. You're my bestie or a good friend and I want to support your creativity <3
2. Your stuff hit me right in the spot and I count it as extremely cool!
I don't allow
✘ NSFW in any other shape that wasn't mentioned before, that includes any kind of sexual content. I want to stay SFW artist as long as I can, I know I can easily draw furry NSFW due having needed skills, being adult and living separate from parents, but I don't want to resort to it.
✘ Ask box spam. Call me cold hearted, but I don't care about your problems. Life sucks for all of us, some more, some less, we all struggling here and I'm not paid for caring about your problems. Adapt and thrive, or die trying. Such messages will be deleted, and sender will be blocked and reported.
✘ Art thieft. I may not put signatures on most of my art because I couldn't care less, but I won't appretiate if you're steal my art and call it yours. If you like my style, or how I draw something, you can always dm me about it, you can copy my drawings for study or use it as reference. If you do so, please don't forget to mention me as inspiration or something like that, I'll greatly appretiate it.
Stuff I'm currently working on
Rain World AUs
The Frostrot - one of my biggest projects so far. I'm a co-owner of the au, original creator is @dvepalki, a good friend of mine. I'm helping him out with storyline, worldbuilding, slugcat(and other animals in general) designs, and some iterators designs! Whole plot revolves around the idea of dystopia and iterators mostly going off-string and creating own countries, with more evolved, aka anthro, scugs and scavs as citizens, after Ancients mysteriously perish. #the frostrot - main tag for this au, all the content for it could be found here Dreamscape - my personal main AU, that's based mostly on my mental shit, like sleeping patterns, traumas and ext. Currently being actively developed. Instead of seeking a way to get out of The Cycle, Ancients wanted to achieve any kind of immortality, and that's how Dreamscape was created, a wast digital mainframe, that could give you digital immortality. Iterators taking care of their creators, divided in local servers of Dreamscape. At some point, from unfortunate event, Sliver of Straw dies, and Nightmares manifests, and from here everything starts to crumble down. #rw dreamscape - main tag for this au, all the content for it could be found here Bug in a Maze - my secondary personal AU, based on concept of fact that war never changes. Currently being semi-actively developed. Ancients abandoned their pursuit for salvation, and war broke between Houses, as they rip eachother's throats for what's left of the resources. #RW Bug in a Maze - main tag for this au, all the content for it could be found here Rotstruck - my tretiary personal AU, based on idea what if iterators were furries, lol. Currently on hold, characters are only used for Discord rps Mammals and Reptilians were on a brick of a war, when global apocalypse struck down, turning almost everyone into rotstruck zombies. Pebbles, the main suspect on that case, escapes his home universe and wander around other universes, trying to find a cure not only for himself, since he's also infected, but for his whole world. #CFP: Rotstruck - main tag for this au, all the content for it could be found here
Rain World Ships
Forbidden Noodles - Cherrybush with a twist, both of scuggos are dead lmao. Basically a ship of HLL and Echo Saint, two fellas couldn't escape their demise, so they just chill and support each other. #rw forbidden noodles - tag for this ship
Side work stuff
@temple-of-srs - my side blog, dedicated to drawing SRS. You can send your prompts for this character over here!
Aaand that's about it! Enjoy your stay here!

Mourynn, my GW2 OC's bio page! This is just meant to be a simplified breakdown of her character where I will branch out (lol) to all the other aspects in detail in their own separate posts/drawings. I just wanted her bio to me more visual instead of all just text, and I also included some inspirations with a little background info to fill in some blanks (which will be expanded upon later as well). to note: - she does, for the most part, follow the canonical Commander storyline, except not EVERY part and with not the same exact personality of the in game player character either (tbh I don't think anyone's Commander OCs do so I suppose this is obvious lol) - allowing her to still play the Commander role (to a slightly lesser degree but still just enough) allows me to integrate her into all areas of Tyria, and with a more diverse set of experiences and characters to interact with and keep her involved in the major storyline (ESPECIALLY with the Elder Dragon storyline. I'm going to have lots of fun with those interactions and experiences) - this also opens more doors for giving her unique experiences in these different zones with different characters that don't happen in game (since it's easier for me to work with an existing storyline instead fo fully creating a new one. Uses up less of my brain battery) - this also allows me to poke fun at some things in game with Mourynn in character bc I have SO many things saved up that are highly amusing to me and this way I can use a bunch of my saved screenshots to my potential. - I'm also taking advantage of a bunch of plot holes and other spans of time (such as the Firstborn Era before the Secondborn came about) Her dragon form will have it's own page (with inspirations) since there is lots I still need to design and showcase, and I wanted it to have it's own separate focus! Everything will make more sense once it's all done (such as explaining how a firstborn and scion(?) are to exist at the same time, I have a fun way to which I wanna explain it once I'm done the dragon bio page). I'll also have a separate breakdown of her Elite spec and showing/explaining what it does and how it works bc it was a lot of fun to create.
Anyways this is a VERY self indulgent OC, and since I only ever make one OC (since they're almost always a self-insert to some degree with me), she's going to be very spoiled and will allow me to give her lots of attention and have fun with all the dynamics. I also can't mentally handle more than one OC bc that is WAY too overwhelming for me lol.
#Mourynn#Mourynn art#gw2 OC#sylvari OC#sylvari#Artgallery#Gw2#Rip I wish I was better at focussing bc it makes my drawing so slow. This really could've been finished a month ago; but alas~#also sry for all the rambling; I'm just one of those people who over explains things -_-' I can't help myself#also I love dragons! in case you haven't noticed jlaskj (also my chinese zodiac is the Dragon so I always use that as an excuse as well lol#Working on her dragon form next!!! I can't wait; i've been wanting to do this for like; 3 years now; but I wanted to finish this stuff firs#she's been literally slow cooking in my brain for like; 3-4yrs at this point; she's finally escaping the confines of my brain

Skyscraper Softie: Never Again
Here it is folks! The alternate route for Skyscraper Softie starring Mina. I will go over the differences between it and the normal route mostly on a different post. For now let's get started.
Mina decides to visit Kafka at the hospital on the night he would transfer. A chance taken upon recognizing her oldest friend and having some spare time for today. Mina hears Kafka mutter 'Kaiju' so she lunges over immediately only to see a tail alongside a tiny leg disappear down his throat.
She also tries to stop the panicking man from swan diving out the window but the sudden burst of kaiju strength allows him to slip away. You can bet your ass Mina immediately froze once Kafka had finished transforming. Also yes she joins Reno in the impromptu escape out of the city.
Mina couldn't exactly be spotted by hospital staff or patients as it's pretty obvious on what they would ask her to do. Kill the giant Kaiju aka Kafka. That doesn't mean she called for a very impromptu rendezvous with her most trusted comrades like Hoshina Soshiro.
Mina knows she can't keep Kafka's condition hidden forever and the safest place for him is under Defense Force jurisdiction. A choice he completely understood thus the man allowed himself to be taken in under heavy sedation. This particular incident can considered one of the few instances that manage to stun the DF.
A Kaiju type able to turn humans into kaiju? Preposterous. Yet the DNA samples from the newly dubbed No.8 and Mina's testimony was terrifying proof. Kafka was given one month to prove he could retain control of himself for the chance to live. A test the man successfully passes.
Now Kafka is managed by the Third Division with Mina and Soshiro serving as his designated keepers. Since the place is pretty good distance away from civilization, he has some roaming room until a proper enclosure for him can be built. Tests are a given with Mina or Reno(given an intern role) always present to provide emotional support.
Kafka isn't as isolated from people like in the other route. It doesn't mean he's avoiding any unfriendly individuals in the Defense Force. Due to how protective Mina is of Kafka, officers often call him "Captain's Pet Dragon" or "Ashiro's Beast".
He tries to not it bother him. Kafka's diet nowadays consists mainly of raw meat such as Kaiju/Honju/Yoju. Although the Rookies, Mina and Soshiro often sneak him human food whenever they can. His ability to transform into human form alongside creating avatars is also tested. (Canon form and 7 inch skull faced lizard.)
Kafka's smaller lizard model has been employed quite often to gather evidence on corruption inside the Defense Force. You can thank some of the more inhumane treatment he gotten by some members and pettiness from that. (His captains rubbed off on him.)
Mina is super protective of Kafka and definitely uses her position as his handler to the fullest. There are quite a number of people who wish to have a 9.8 fortitude Kaiju under their commander ignoring the details. She has blocked certain experiments like keeping a lizard clone from rejoining the man's body after an extended time.
(Do know if this experiment went through then Skully would be created as a clone separated for too long would restructure into its own being. A rebirth of sorts that is fully completed upon attaining a different DNA set from someone by blood sample or physical contact. Like Soshiro/Mina. I'll do a Skully edition on a different post.)
Kafka does get employed on missions but which form he's allowed to use differs. If the Kaiju in question is huge such as the Mushroom Honju then his true form is utilized. Otherwise an avatar is only allowed to be deployed.
Kafka does send out an avatar during the Entrance Exam incident and First Mission. The former gets him scolded by Mina as they knew who the fortitude 9.8 belonged too. Luckily it was for a good reason since she has to bat away any opportunities or chances that could get him taken away.
Mina already lost Kafka once after joining the Defense Force. No way in hell is she gonna lose him again even if he's now a skyscraper sized softie. Thankfully there are a lot of people who agree with her on that sentiment.

Hi I'm putting my specialty in art history to use to talk about the kind of Portrait I think Aymeric would have. Because there is genuinely a lot that goes into portraits of world leaders and stuff like that. What symbolism is used in it, their posture, what they're wearing, etc etc etc. (This is going to be really long winded bear with me. Art history is simply my passion and job.)
I'll be using this portrait of George Washington by Gilbert Stuart vs. the coronation portrait of George iii by Allan Ramsay to convey what I think Aymeric's would be like and what he would most hate.
something to be noted is that George Washington did not want any portraits and he was notoriously bad at sitting for them. the only reason the Gilbert Stuart portrait exists at all is because Martha Washington insisted. (She was displeased by the result because he never properly finished the portraits (one was originally supposed to be her and George together.))
Gilbert Stuart also only painted his head. the rest of his body was a stand-in, done separately and away from George. More things to note: George didn't want to be seen as a king nor royalty and he did not want to be painted as such. He had made this clear to the previous portraitist he was good friends with: Charles Wilson Peale.
Thus: he is wearing a simple black coat.
he is holding onto a sword rather than have it hang at his side to denote his history as a soldier.
The table to his side has some paper and a pen on it to reflect his work in statesmanship.
His portrait, aside from the roman pillars and such, as that was the style of the time, is very down to earth. Note the hand outstretched as well, this openness is not something a lot of leaders of the world were shown to have. hands were either kept at their side, hidden way in clothes, or otherwise unimportant. they're leaders after all. untouchable.
Let's talk a bit about The Coronation of George III.
Compared to George Washington's portrait, it is pure and utter extravagance.
(Posting again so you don't have to scroll up)
The roman pillar. The pink almost satin-looking curtain behind him. The gold clothes with layers upon layers of furs and expensive dyes and jewelry. He has a sword certainly that rather than being held, hangs at his side looking entirely the part of pageantry.
His pose is relaxed, almost uncaring in how natural it is, befitting someone who is at the highest position of their nation. Hand on one hip, the other in the furs of his own robe hanging on the table.
This is a king. His face is beautiful, almost too beautiful and his wig perfect.
The royal crown sits atop a royal blue pillow to the right, which also lays atop a royal red cloth. the carpet he stands on is many-colored showing the wealth employed by the British Empire at the time.
This detail on his necklace is the Order of the Garter which has symbolized the British Royal Family since back in the 1300s, which was later worn by King Charles III.
Anyways all this to say I think Aymeric would want something more akin to George Washington's portrait.
He certainly doesn't want to be seen as king of Ishgard, nor does he enjoy the extravagance other Houses often pursue. He's always tried to be more down to earth, approachable by the common man than some on high authority that is impossible to reach.
He'd have Naegling in his portrait, held to denote his history as a soldier and Lord Commander. He'd wear more subdued clothes as opposed to his ensemble he usually wears.
There would be a bow and quiver in the background as well for set design. The table beside him would have a pen and papers stacked as well as a book of Heavensward on it.
Rather than the Borel heraldry he'd have that same relief of Hraesvelgr and Shiva he commissioned for Falcon's Nest to symbolize their newfound friendship with dragons.
