.... (looks at calendar) yup definitely october 18th today, don't mind us. this didn't even take that long, I wish I could have done more for one of my fav boys. we were putting off a task we didn't want to do (update resume) which meant getting stuck doing nothing at all for 2 days :)))

this is a classic and a favourite. I was like 3 minutes into the game when I got this and was like ohhh... what's with this guy. oh dear.

bad :( don't call him a *lamo* stupid skill. him referring to himself by his own name is funny, I don't think any of the others do that

idiot doom spiral cuts him off here. but electrochemistry is the only skill that talks about the basal ganglia (Ancient Reptilian Brain). After some research it looks like the mesolimbic pathway and basal ganglia are closely related, and certain structures are even shared between them. Which might explain why electrochemistry is more in tune with ancient reptilian brain than the other skills. There's actually a really similar thing with perception (smell) talking to limbic system, and the olfactory system and limbic system share pathways in the brain. fascinating. which then raises the question of if pre-martinaise harry knew these things -- knows what a mesolimbic pathway is, and an olfactory system and a basal ganglia, and then named them accordingly? or if it was something else...?

(hopefully this is right, I'm a programmer not a neuroscientist. if someone who actually knows about brains knows more please say something lol)

Violet is upset because someone she defended against her found family of 8 years let her get taken by brainwashing adults for 2 seconds and everyone flips their lid.

But Kenny refuses to stop a train, and gets into a whole fight with Lee over it (AND REFUSES TO HELP YOU FIND A LOST LITTLE GIRL WHILE YOU’RE FIGHTING OFF AN INFECTION, where as Violet always defends you in Episode 1 regardless of whether you ignored and/or antagonized her or not), and gets mad at an 11 year old for not being able to handle helping someone in labor by herself and everybody’s like “Nah it’s okay, his family died years ago so he gets to do whatever he wants.” as if Violet didn’t witness one of the only consistent family members in her life die in front of her 💀

There’s so many comparisons I could make and one day I’ll make a Venn Diagram about all of their similarities but for now I’m glad someone pointed this out.

there are some things kenny does that have No excuse (like refusing to help bitten lee look for missing clem all because hes mad you didnt side with him enough. leaving lee to singlehandedly save himself in the pharmacy because he got scared. threatening to slap clem for blaming herself for lees death. off the top of my head). but his behavior on the train is annoying yet understandable. he doesnt want to admit his son is dying and he feels like duck dying in the first place is his fault for not saving shawn. you can convince him to stop without things getting physical

the Problem comes in when people can understand and sympathize with kennys annoying/shitty actions, but when it comes to violet (who has the same "my family is dead and its made me bitter and closed off" backstory (and her whole arc is about learning to love and care again)), suddenly all understanding goes out the window. even tho shes not even a FRACTION as annoying and shitty as kenny can get 😭😭

violet is mean to clem for the One scene where youre introduced to her (ignoring your first moment with her in the courtyard where shes smiling at clem so you already know her shitty attitude later is a lie. louis even defends her. wingman lol. and depending on what you say in response to her you can Immediately see the regret on her face LOL). but before the scene even Ends shes complimenting clem and clem loves it. then youre forced to talk to her and tenn about the twins, you have a nice card game where you can joke around with her, then she shows up at the dorm and they have a nice heart to heart about how theyre BOTH struggling with the loss of people theyve loved, and they can sympathize about both being harsher than they intend (THEY GET EACH OTHER CANONICALLY)

and vi not being "a people person" is a huge part of her arc?? she doesnt like that shes like this 😭 but shes also better with people than she gives herself credit for and its why she makes a good leader. (and even if you pick the "came off strong" option clem is OBVIOUSLY teasing about it but vi cant tell and gets defensive ("its not like im trying to be bffs or whatever. sorry" is so "you want to kiss me so bad it makes you look stupid" of her)

and then after this shes never mean to clem again?? (unless you antagonize her but even then its mostly just about her standing her ground and not taking shit she doesnt deserve. which is fair). shes only mean to brody while fishing (and shes mean to brody because deep down she blames HERSELF) and the whole POINT of that scene is to try and mend their broken relationship which immediately makes vi a happier/nicer person if you do (also interesting how louis doesnt get any shit for His behavior while hunting 🤨 no hes just cool and fun). violet also apologizes for being "weird" in the dorms the previous night as well (bby girl why are you afraid that everything you do is weird 😭 she says that word a lot)

violet will Always have clems back (in EP1 and 2!!) No Matter What you do or say to her. i think people take her loyalty for granted. so if you dont save her in EP2 and expect to continue to have her unwavering loyalty in EP3? thats a You problem. she is Fucked Up mentally on that boat by lilly and her not-exactly-ex, and then gets caught in the explosion she didnt want anything to do with. AND THEN SHE APOLOGIZES because she recognizes she was WRONG

(not her literally trying to make a joke about it to ease the tension 😭 people dont give her credit for also having a sense of humor. like louis is the only one who cracks jokes around here) but again when it comes to kenny his actions are understandable and defendable even without an apology 🙄 i literally side with kenny on Everything except the larry thing and if you dont make the right dialogue choice with him? he will not help you look for clem. because of larry 😐 i killed your son for you bro and then took care of his walker doppelganger so you didnt have to. and this isnt even touching his behavior in S2. and yet despite everything he does hes still one of the most beloved characters in the fandom 🤨

i just have to remind myself sometimes that all vi options were made 53-61% and the vi haters are a loud minority. her always being above 50% is so interesting to me because i love when choices are split perfectly 50/50. but the way the fandom talks about her (and the women in general) you wouldnt think shes technically the more popular option (and i Hate playing the popularity card its so annoying, but im only doing it bc people also say shit like "maybe if vi wasnt so mean more people would pick her" they DO pick her!!! you just got mad she was mean for 5 seconds, never payed attention to her again, and used her determinate reaction on the boat as justification for not liking her 😑) (also ignores how mean louis gets in EP2 regardless of choice?? but like kenny His actions are defendable and sympathetic and hers arent 🙄)

( I totally forgot I had this screenshot from the whole Lord thing so here’s a fun theory time while I clean my camera roll and reformat my Bryon/Lorsan headcanons google doc to something manageable. )

I always found this specific interaction interesting because on multiple occasions Lorsan brags about being the one to find Merlin. Which even Lyca points out he didn’t really do shit lmao.

However…

When he has the ‘Lord Lorsan’ title thrown back at him he actively humbles right the fuck down. It’s weird

If you choose the alternative dialogue option and call Lorsan shameless he doesn’t have the same reaction. It’s only if you call him Lord.

Why would a character who’s shown to be a tad bit conceited reject an actually well acknowledged, difficult to achieve, and revered title like that?

Lorsan hates the title of Lord because he never had to actually do anything to get it. He was born smart and born talented and was given his title off pure luck and maybe a mild amount of work.

Compare that to Lyca, who worked tirelessly to become captain of the dusk patrollers (and still doesn’t think she’s as impressive as her brother)

Compare that to Eironn, who’s entire character arch across two games is him striving to become a better swordsman and someone who wants to become worthy of being the scion of the lucent tree

Hell even Bryon had to work to become (in his words) “capable” as a wind whisper

Lorsan hates his title because he doesn’t actually feel like he deserves it

So much of Lorsan’s character arch is dedicated to him not feeling like he’s strong enough. And he’s not. And he knows it.

I’m gonna preface what I’m about to say next because it’s gonna sound mean but I do love this rabbit dearly

I got the angst potential bugs and they’re out for blood

In terms of the quest to save the Dark Forest Lorsan is practically useless

What’s the point of being the best of the perception faction when the decay and death of your home it’s impossible to miss? What’s the point in trying to fight back if Lorsan and everyone around him acknowledges he’s not a strong enough fighter to do much besides get himself killed? What’s the point of being the most gifted wind whisper if all it ever does is convince him to abandon his own safety and everyone who’s loved him in favor of seeing a cruel but beautiful world beyond the tree line? What’s the point in having a title if it’s just empty words that put him above those he desperately wants to stand besides?

How do you live with that?

He doesn’t take credit for his title because he doesn’t want empty praises. He does take credit for finding Merlin because that’s the one thing he actually did with his own two hands to save the forest. And even then it’s still someone else’s strength he’s hiding behind

Genuinely I think what drew me to Lorsan’s character is because he’s so desperately a person who wants to become something greater. He’s genuinely kind, and considerate, and tries to make up for some of his shortcomings. He still tries his best even when he knows it’s likely not enough.

(As a former gifted kid who outgrew all their talents but still wants to be something good enough the projection is real)

Also sry this really rambled lol. His character is so fun I love dissecting it :3c

Do you think it’s also why he was a troublemaker in school? Maybe he knew that this was all too easy for him, and that everyone else worked so hard while he got the easy route. Maybe he didn’t want to stand with his peers and possibly bring them down, and so he skipped classes and ran around on his own. All his friends struggled and learned through their own experiences, but he didn’t have that.

Arden probably knew, and it could’ve also been an underlying issue he was trying to help him out with during their teachings together. 😢

Also here’s the end bit of Lorsan’s story because I think it’s really cool

I love his last line there, “what can you tell me that the wind hasn’t already?” It’s so cool, and really emphasizes his close relationship with the wind (｡ ́︿ ̀｡)

would be actually kinda good surprise surprise omg. he would usually always carry in game and if it's solos he's always in the top 30s. actually so good at building i can see the vision do u see the vision ??? like 😧😧 its kinda scary. def has a sweat skin that he uses cause he won the most with it. every time he loses he sits there and laughs for like half a minute before loading into a new game because he doesn't wanna show his inner rage cause he lost to a 12 y.o.

Nice levitation trick Simbai, but she's just allowed to use the Breath like that? Maybe because she's a flux society member? It does make me realise, since the wars were not so long ago, how many people are walking around who could previously use the the Breath all the time but now aren't allowed. That's kind of crazy!

aww I love Artegor trying to convince D'jok to come back, especially with him telling him how hard the SK took it when he left. It's also interesting to see Artegor refer to playing with the Snow Kids as a responsibility - they're a symbol of hope for the people of Akillian, who didn't even want to go to their first match in the stadium due to the trauma from the glaciation.

He also reminds D'jok he's a Snow Kid, which reminds me of their conversation in season.... 2? Where Artegor tells him he'll always be a kid from Akillian. It's also nice that once he's voiced his opinion, he changes the subject instead of pressuring D'jok to answer. He's really developed from the demanding Shadows coach he used to be.

But they don't show the Cyclop's hypnosis thing at all, the animation is exactly the same as the Xenon's flux, and Callie even mentions their "hypnotic" flux and how the players can barely stay on their feet, which doesn't really match what's on screen sooo yeeeeeaahhh this is just an animation error. A pretty big one though.

So team Paradisia have no problem using their flux? Which was a synthetic one to begin with? And the technology for it is no longer available? Or do they just get it implanted once and that's it? So what was up with them going into those pods to “charge”? How does this work???

It seems Tia and Rocket have accepted D'jok back but Micro-Ice and Ahito aren't so enthusiastic. It's strange to see Ahito so resentful but it's a refreshing change to see him react like that.

Micro-Ice's reaction on the other hand isn't taken very seriously and it's presented as them squabbling immaturely but like... he's right to feel hurt! We could've had some good Micro-Ice angst topped off with a heart-to-heart between two guys who canonically consider each other brothers, but here we are.

But it's also kind of weird to portray his arc as if he just needed to learn how to be a team player again, when a big part of why he left was the emotional turmoil from the breakup and him lashing out because of it. That's never really resolved, although I guess the season is trying to say that D'jok became obsessed with winning again, which is what drove Mei away in the first place, but again I'm just speculating here! They had the means for a really good arc for D'jok but fumbled it and decided to retread old paths instead.

"Arghh, where am I?" Ace questioned. He was sitting, and the room he was in was dark.

Wait.

Dark?

Ace could feel a soft fabric in his eyes. 'I must be blindfolded,' he concluded. The redhead noticed his hands were behind him and tried to move them but resisted. 

And he was tied up too? 

"When will he wake up?" a deep but familiar voice filled his ears. 

"I'm afraid you might have hit him too hard, dude," another voice added.

"Dude? Don't dude me, you human. Ace is just weak," a very familiar voice said.

Ace scoffed in offense, "Oi! Guys! I can hear you!?"

Everyone in the room took a quick breath. Ace could hear footsteps heading his way, and suddenly, his blindfold was off. His eyes immediately met a bright light, and he closed them due to the brightness. Ace slowly opened his eyes and had to adjust to the light. Everything was dark around him except for Jack holding a flashlight, and the other first years (minus Yuu and Grim) were staring at him. 

"Why did you tie me up?" Ace exclaimed.

Jack sighed, "You all should have listened to me and just asked him."

Epel snorted, "And miss out on the fun? No thanks."

Deuce ignored the two and stepped toward Ace, "Look, we just need you to answer a serious question. Do you like the Prefect?"

"WHAT?? YOU COULD HAVE JUST ASKED NORMALLY!" Ace asked, ignoring Deuce's question. 

Jack sighed, "See."

Deuce sighed, "This is getting us nowhere. Ortho, the powerpoint?" 

Ortho flew to an empty spot in the room (Ace still had no idea where he was), manifested a small device in his hand, and set it down on the floor. A small hologram appeared with a powerpoint titled 'Why Ace loves the Prefect with evidence.'

"The presentation is for us to prove that you like Yuu. It is so obvious, yet nothing has happened," Deuce explained that it was the most obvious thing in the world. 

"I don't like her like that!"

Sebek scoffed, "Don't lie, human! Now watch the presentation."

Epel cleared his throat and approached the projection, "Exhibit A: teasing about her being his type." The slide changed to show a shot of Ace and Yuu walking through the courtyard from someone else's perspective. They were standing side by side with Ace's arm over Yuu's shoulders. There were also some leaves in the footage, so Ace assumed whoever did it was hiding behind some bushes. 

Ace laughed at something Yuu said, "You know, I thought I'd never be into your type, but maybe I was wrong?...Or not!"

Yuu laughed and swatted Ace's arm away, "Your type is magicless humans?"

Ace threw his arm back to its original spot and pulled Yuu close. Meanwhile, Yuu made no move to push it back, "You're special, and you have your own charm," The two continued to walk, unaware of the gasp coming from the student filming them. The voice sounded awfully familiar to Ace. 

"Ortho, you traitor!" The redhead turned to the robotic boy, who shrugged. 

"According to Big Brother's shows, you were clearly showing signs of flirting, which means that you must like Yuu." he deadpanned, causing the other first years to snicker. 

Ace turned to the group, and his resolve started to weaken, "That does not prove anything! That was only me and the Prefect being friendly."

Sebek rolled his eyes and walked to Epel, "Nonsense, human!" He pointed to the presentation with a new slide, "Exhibit B: the basketball game!"

The slide included a video from Ace's recent basketball game; the first years were front and center to watch. It was an NRC vs. RSA match where the game was neck-in-neck. Floyd was in the mood to win, Jamil was gaining fangirls from the 3-pointers he was making, and Ace was currently in possession of the ball. 

The first years cheered as Ace swiveled passed the RSA players and toward the goal.

"GO, ACE! YOU GOT THIS!" Yuu yelled. Only ten seconds were on the clock, and two players left for Ace to pass through. 

He ran around the first guy and through the second as fast as possible. Jamil and Floyd held them off, leaving Ace to score the point. There were only five seconds left when Ace finally jumped. Everyone held their breath as the timer went down.

Ace slammed the ball through the hoop just as the buzzer went off. NRC cheered and picked up Ace in celebration. Once the first year was set down, he immediately ran to where the other first years were. 

Yuu laughed as Ace suddenly hugged her and spun her around. She threw her arms around him as the other first years gawked at them. They watched as Ace spoke to Yuu like she was the only person in the world and vice versa. The noisy audience drowned out the sound, but the group finally realized something was there. Ace even had a big grin and tender eyes to prove it.  

The video ended, and the group turned to Ace, who was bright red. 

"I was caught in the moment! We just won the game!"

Jack rolled his eyes, "You only hugged Yuu and gave the rest of us a high five."

"As Big Brother would say, it looked very sus," Ortho shook his head. 

Deuce stepped forward towards Sebek and Epel, "Moving on, Exhibit C: when you frantically texted me that we have to save Yuu from Jamil even though I got the message too-"

Ace had had enough of this embarrassment, finally letting everything out, "ALRIGHT! I'LL ADMIT IT! I LIKE YUU!" He wriggled in his chair and breathed, "But what was said here stays here, capiche?"

Epel sweatdropped, "Uhh, about that…."

"Myah! You can go in now!" Grim called out, and Ace's face became ghost white in fear. A door opened, and light filled the room. Ace scanned his surroundings and realized something.

"I was in Ramshackle this whole time!" he exclaimed, eyeing the familiar wallpaper and design.

Yuu laughed, "I'm surprised you didn't realize it and you stayed here for a long time." She turned to the other, "You all can leave now. I want to talk to Ace alone."

A series of "alright" and "okays" filled the room as everyone packed their things and left. Yuu bent down to undo the knot when the two were alone. 

"How much did you hear?" Ace asked after a moment of silence. 

Yuu stood before the boy and held his hands in hers, "All of it. Grim insisted that I stayed to listen," She admitted while running a thumb over his hand. 

"Well, I guess I'll admit it again," Ace intertwined their hands. It shocked Yuu so much that she looked at him and saw that Ace had a serious face. "I like you, Yuu. I am willing to say I am in love with you." Yuu stared at Ace in shock, but he could tell there was doubt in her eyes. "What's wrong?"

Yuu sighed, "It makes me happy to hear that because the feelings are mutual. However, what if the same thing happens to your previous girlfriend? You found her annoying and ghosted her!"

Ace stood up and brought Yuu for a hug, "Look, you're not her, and she is not you. You're Yuu, the cheekiest, blunt, and toughest girl I know. I won't ghost you. I promise." He pulled away slightly to look at Yuu with a look that showed off his boyish charm. "Now, how about we get out of here and forget about this weird day."

Yuu laughed and pulled away from the hug. She intertwined her hand with Ace's, "It's a date."

Soooo as always here's my opinion on First episode of Loki's Season 2 :)

Here are the things that i really liked and feel like highlight of this episode imo

FIRST THINGS FIRST IT WAS REALLY NICE TO SEE Ke Huy Quan as OB aka Ouroboros... nice addition to the marvel family

secondly WHY IS MY GUY MOBIUS SO OBSESSED WITH HIS SKIN LMFAOO😭😭 HE WAS EVEN READY TO DIE BUT LOOSING HIS SKIN WAS MUCH MORE IMPORTANT TO HIM

LIKE EVERYONE IN THE ROOM WERE LOOSING THEIR MINDS ABOUT TVA AND FUTURE AND ANALYSING THE SITUATION AND HERE IN THE BACK MY DUDE MOBIUS IS WRITING " SKIN " ON A DUSTED TAB AND WONDERING HE WOULD MAKE IT OUT OR NOT😭😂 made me chuckle

But in the End Mobius not only pulled himself off to do the task even tho he knew he could fucking die and risked it all because of his Long distance low commitment causal Boyfriend LOKI 😭💀

And in the end credits i really cried a bit for Sylvie ik you all hate her but listen to me behind the " Bad girl, boss bitch " behaviour she's is just a broken little kid who's never grown up, all she ever needed was love,affection and somebody to trust on and wanted to live a normal life but she never got that and everytime she trusted and loved someone they either broke her heart and left her alone and that's the reason she became who she is its hard for her to trust anyone bcoz she doesn't want to get hurt again coz she feels she had enough and finally when she looks at this people having normal lives and talking their friends and loved ones she finally has a little bit of hope in her eyes and has happy tears and smiles a bit THIS IS WHAT SHE ALWAYS WANTED 😭❤ And i am sure this is the direction marvel markers will go thru for Sylvie's character this season and i am excited for the coming episodes

reunion volume thoughts

first off oh damn goodbye Jin, Claudia, and Bea gonna miss yall so much 🥲😭

second, this was just such an anticlimactic way to say goodbye to all these characters lol

I'm not mad at them bringing in all the characters in groups so not everyone gets introduced all at once, but oh why did we start with Sienna and Hazel and then only at the end did we get Claudia, Theo, and Bea? Like I love a drama filled season, but even this I'm like let me take a victory lap with my friends first pleaseeee

I had enough gems so I was like ehh fuck it I'll listen to Hazel's airport drama but I did notice for more details about the same/related story later on you did still have to pay gems which is ridiculous and also if you didn't pay for at least one, then it's literally just them bickering for most of the reunion and then you get a little bit of free drama between your LI and some other dude. Like I think if you care less about the casa islanders' drama (which I absolutely understand bc I also care less about those islanders' stories), then this was a boring volume pretty much

small odd thing was that no other islanders showed up. like I get that not everyone would show if this was real and for the fiction clearly fusebox just doesnt want to draw the other islanders, but fusebox would only have to draw one dress for the missing islanders and it would make sense for them to show up. like Rachel is an OG where is she?? Felicity had some drama with the guys too how abou her?

Tyler's storyline didn't do much for me bc he gets dumped so fast that it's weird he has all these declarations about missing his connection with MC and wishing he had another chance. And it's sweet and tbh after playing this volume I do like Tyler's character more, but it's still so intense so fast. But also, if this whole storyline was for a reunion in s4 for Hazeem??? would love that. Like he got to know MC for a while but was pursuing Najuma and he realized too late he should've went for MC.

Oakley and Emel not making it on the outside was absolutely expected it went exactly how i thought it would but I do still wish they got 3rd or 4th place at least

Sophie and Jack together but unhappy and unpopular also something I would've predicted.

Sophie and Luna need to stopppp. I don't care for the other guys but I did pick Jack as the potential other man just to potentially piss off Sophie (unfortunately didn't really come into play).

why is Luna still salty though

althoughhhhh I did notice Luna and Tyler look good next to each other is all I'm saying. if both of them got more screen time I wouldn't be mad if they coupled with each other after MC stole Jin.

and Jin's texting airport drama was so small too like it's really nothing and went exactly how I'd expect it to go

ok so general thoughts/fixes

the way almost everyone is single and you get a chance to run away with the og boys (plus liam) one last time doesn't really work for me (except Liam I guess his thing was fine, I do like the realism of him being like I came off as such an asshole I'm sorry but then also still being a little messy bc that's just him). I think maybe if there was an actual gap irl between the reunion getting released and the s8 finale it would feel better.

personally I think it could've just gone like the S1 reunion where it's a two parter, first of all. second, we get the scenery change whether it's Christmas in S1 or in S8's case, make it more autumn since it's been a few months. Again, just adds to the feeling like time has passed bc if it's just in the villa, it doesn't feel like we ever really left? THTH2 does this well too because they're still on an island vacation but they changed the backgrounds at least because it's a different location and I think that helps a lot.

I'd like less casa islanders drama and less dumped OG islanders drama

Literally would be okay if it was just partying and seeing like hey what are you up to? Is Hari's business going well? Is Jin booked and busier than ever as a model? Did MC and her partner move in together? Like we got a little bit from Liam's podcast news, Tyler traveling, and the broken up couples' relationship status, but that's it I think.

I'm trying to remember what made the other reunions so fun and I think fusebox gets close but not quite. So the first two revolve around weddings/proposals and S3 around a potential breakup, but I do like the idea of everyone hearing how one or two of the islanders slandered everyone on a podcast and they're all mad. It just also doesn't work because what if MC doesn't care? So it needs to be that plus something with your LI (for good or for bad), and then cut out most of the other stuff. Like we can include that apparently all the casa people hooked up with each other at one point but let's not let that be the main storyline or let it be less prevalent

you should be able to run away with Claudia or Bea if you're allowed to run away with the OG boys at the end. Like they can have the same storylines as the guys too, Bea being single and ready to move into a real relationship that she realized she wasn't really ready for during the show (like Tyler) and then Claudia yet again having doubts about Theo like the broken record that relationship is (like the guys in an unhappy couple with Emel/Sophie/Luna).

also ending in a big group hug is lame, it's very friend island energy and even s3 doesn't end like that. might as well copy S1 just end with your LI or running away with some other character while the person that was pursuing them earlier yells at you (does this only happen with Tim/Jen? I don't remember lol)
