jason and roy have a longstanding guys being dudes thing where they text each other pics of their gnarly bruises and not too serious wounds so that the other can be like “woah, i can see the tread pattern of the boot just from the bruise!” because these things are cool and gross in the way that dudes find irresistible and here is a guy who will valorize it without all the you should have been better undertone or smothering worry and it escalates until one day when jay gets a fingernail ripped off and his first thought after all the danger and blood is ha! this beats roy’s thing from last week and like they are somewhat aware that its kinda abnormal but their text convos are a safe space free from shame or judgement so its all good until someone gets a glimpse of pure gore followed by a winky face emoji when jason goes to open his phone
Just gonna casually bring this around to something more dickjayroy, because of course I would. All the above, but:
Dick and Roy running a mission together and, while successful, isn't without casualty. It's nothing they won't survive, but they're a little fucked up. Dick more so, but he's a scrapper. He'll survive the wait for first aid while Roy takes some sick and sleazy mirror pics for his boy Jaybird. It's all good.
Dick might be a little concussed and bleeding on Roy's couch, but Roy can't not share the road burn that stretches up his arm and shoulder.
Roy hearing Dick call for him from down the hall. Just a thoughtful check-in of, 'You okay?' Like Dick in his current state of wooziness and pain has the wherewithal to come help Roy if needed. The thought is sweet.
The fact that Dick would find the resolve to help Roy even as Dick is s t r u g g l i n g is mildly horrifying though, so.
Some cute banter as Roy sends his message off, calling out to Dick that he's good but also for validation that Roy looked cool while he was skidding across asphalt earlier. He was, right?
Pffft, Dick trying to be playful/teasing when he agrees, but he's so fucked up that it comes out sounding more genuine than anything and Roy is ;U; as he settles in to take care of his friend. Helping Dick out of the top of his costume only to pause because - wow.
Just Dick lacking all self-awareness. He's hurt. He's tired. He's got someone he trusts looking after him, so. Dick just slouches on the couch, head tipped over the back of it. Boneless. Dazed. Chest and abs a beautiful sight - all toned muscles heaving with shallow breaths, and like. Dick being hot is nothing Roy blinks an eye at, nah. It's the ugly, weeping wound in his side that does. Blood stained and irritated and already showing signs of bruising crawling up his ribs.
Of course the camera comes out. Of course Roy sneaks off a picture to Jason (it only shows Dick's wounded torso, even if Dick's scowl is handsome and deserves to be seen by more people than Roy lol).
Anyway, Dick joking about if Roy got his good side. To which Roy snickers because Dick is all good sides; but yeah, for sure.
Then Roy proceeds to actually tend to Dick's injury. Cleaning, stitching, distracting. Dick being a model patient, disturbingly still although he's sweating through all the pain. Seemingly ignoring Roy, only he'd never. Because whenever Roy stops talking Dick opens his eyes to look at him until Roy starts talking again.
Just Dick finding comfort in the sound of his friend's voice ahhhhhhhhhh. ;A;
In which a Roy and Jason ask becomes entirely Dick and Roy omg. This happens every time but in my defense they're perfect, so.
While Roy's hands are all bloody from patching Dick up, a reply comes through on Roy's phone. Roy telling Dick to check it for him.
Which leads to a little coy game of, 'what's your password?' and 'hah! like you don't know,' and 'if it's not my birthday idk if i'll recover,' and 'bull. what's your password?' 'the day we met ;)' which it isn't, Roy would discover later. Which would lead to lots of laughs and play fighting and it'd be cute af.
Anyway, Dick checking the message and seeing that the picture Roy took of him went to Jason, of all people. Jason - who has no idea who he's looking at.
Letting Dick read the texts is top tier distraction plan, on Roy's part. Also, it ends up being funny.
Just Jason being genuinely confused because he doesn't know about all of Roy's missions and stuff. So he's just like, 'hot damn.' 'i know that's not you who's mr.man?' and extra stuff about the actual injury with Jason trying to figure out what happened and being all thirsty because he'd take a bite fr
And it makes Dick laugh and ow, but it's so dumb
Dick taking the cheekiest photo with Roy that shows how he's stitching Dick up and tbh? Roy thinks it's criminal the sort of devastation Dick can cause when Dick tries. In that same vein, he's just as devastating when he doesn't try. That's neither here nor there though.
Roy cackling as they send off the photo and watching through titters at the ensuing silence, the indication that Jason is texting before he disappears before coming back again and going away.
Something something with Roy and Jason being fascinated by injury and gore. Meanwhile, Dick is all there for the emotional damage and injury through flustered feels. He's w/e about a bleeding wound, but blood rushing to Jason's cheeks in a blush? That's what Dick would want a picture of.
Commence Roy and Dick having their own text conversation that is entirely photos of just that LOL.
Roy's just living his best life and he deserves it.

Summary: Your relationship with Nagi continues developing as your first match of the tryouts rolls out, leading you into figuring out how to tell Chigiri about your secret and hoping he doesn't hate you. As the tryouts finish, you're ready to find out if you're playing against the U-20 or not
Part 9 - Part 10 - Part 11 -> Masterlist
After meeting Karasu, who again proves to be similar to the captain of the volleyball team in your school by how his personality is, you two decided to do a small meeting to know how powerful each other is while watching the VR videos of each other; he was an amazing playmaker that knew how to take advantage of the weakest point of the other team, so you two were very compatible on the field; besides, he was a very fun and nice guy, so you two clicked off really easily.
You were waiting to see who was gonna be in your team, a mix of excitement and nervousness. Since the 6 of you have been in the VIP area since yesterday, you had no idea the plans of the rest, which makes it even more nerve-wracking
"Relax, we just need to play" Nagi says flicking your forehead slightly "it doesn't really matter who we get anyways"
"How are you so unaffected by everything, huh? You're not even slightly worried" you hit his arm
"I do get affected…just not too often" he defends himself while looking down at your chest, making you hit him against slightly harder this time while the broadcast starts on the other room
"Yes" you whisper excitedly when you saw the faces, Chigiri right there along with Raichi and Barou
"Excited to be with the princess?" Nagi says while looking at his team
"Well, yeah. It's comforting to be with him after all this time, plus I want to tell him as soon as possible.. aren't you excited to be with Reo?" You ask him
"Well, yeah, but i think it will be awkward for now" he shrugs
You noticed that the second match will be against Team A and Team B, soon selecting the players that will rotate, appearing Isagi on Team A and Chigiri on yours, along with dudes that you didn't know.
You were warming up in the field alongside Karasu when they entered
"Hello" you say to them, smirking at Chigiri "you'll be playing on defense today, okay?"
"Yep, no talking back" Karasu adds
The match starts, after a few passes and some crosses from your team, Shindou is able to score the first goal. Just how you and Karasu had planned, let them play first so you could create a counter attack. You restart the match, Karasu taking it and dribbling away and doing feints in between Isagi and Shindou, making a goal and tying the game.
They restart one more time, this time Karasu luring three of the other team in as you start running towards the goal; you are able to pass the cyan hair boy easily, going behind Rin who fails to notice you as Karasu sends you the ball, letting you score freely.
"You were a second late, idiot" Karasu says to you, high fiving you
"Shut it, this is my first time playing with you"
They restart the game, Rin completely ignoring Isagi as he and the cyan hair boy do some one-two passes, allowing Rin to get to the front of the penalty area. You intercept him just on time, however Shindou appears alongside Chigiri who tries to stop him, using Shindou's movements as a cover to make a goal without the goalie being able to read it.
"Oi, don't face the N°1 face on" Karasu tells you
"And why should I listen to you?" You answer back
"Because otherwise i won't pass to you"
"You know you need me" you retort childishly
"Shut up. Don't you want to include your friend too?" He asks, looking at Chigiri
"If he wants to play, he has to make himself useful, not the other way around"
"Intense, but i agree, let's see what happens"
You walk towards the circle, noticing Chigiri looking at you determined, you smirk at him, challenging him hoping he would do something to prove his worth. You start running with Karasu, going towards the penalty area when you see Chigiri running at full speed from the right, surpassing Isagi quickly. Karasu notices this as well, sending it to Chigiri, who is able to catch it and move for a few seconds before Rin intercepts him. You keep running, passing behind the cyan boy and arriving to the best possibly position you could get in, almost forcibly making Chigiri pass it to you and letting you score another goal.
"Well done, Chigiri" you say to him, helping him stand up
"Thanks"
"You're useful" adds Karasu
The game restarts again, the cyan boy sending a perfect pass to Rin, so could have scored if Shindou hasn't tried to come for the ball too, causing to send it outside of the penalty area; Chigiri takes it before it goes out, passing it to you as you send it to Karasu, who is able to freely score a goal, you were winning 4 - 2
They restart the game once again, Karasu keeping his hold on Isagi as the cyan boy tries to pass around to Rin, but you keep intercepting him and not letting the eyelashes boy alone, that's when a boy with a white bandana starts running alongside Isagi, allowing him to escape Karasu for a few seconds and doing a pass between those two. Isagi wants to pass to Rin, but since you were in his tail he ends up passing to Shindou instead, who makes a goal. Once you restart the game Karasu and Rin seem to match up, the raven boy trying to pass Rin as you wait for him, when suddenly Isagi appears and steals the ball from both of them.
He starts a counter attack right away, but you're able to intersect him almost right away, but the cyan boy and the bandana one help him out by doing quick passes between them. Chigiri is able to cut them off, but Isagi is able to find a spot making the cyan boy pass to him, however, Isagi was just a step short the ball, allowing you to kick it away, making it a free ball with Rin and Karasu trying to have it, Rin winning it and making a goal.
You restart the game for the last goal, Karasu quickly surrounded by both Rin and Isagi, so he sends the ball towards Chigiri, but out of nowhere Shindou appears, hitting the ball away from him. The ball goes to Isagi as you keep guarding Rin, so he passes to the cyan boy, who's cut by Chigiri quickly. You suddenly feel a chill down your spine, Isagi's aura suddenly change, and while you wanted to go block him, you couldn't just left Rin alone; the cyan boy sends a pass in the perfect position, making both Rin access Shindou goal for the ball but instead of any of them getting, Isagi appears in the middle taking it and scoring the last goal of the match.
Despite winning you could see the tension between the team, soon Rin and Shindou starting to fight physically, so you sit in the floor watching them entertained
"I can't believe we lost to them, so can childish" Karsu says sighing
"Kinda fun really" you add
«ANY FURTHER ACTS OF VIOLENCE DURING THE SELECTION WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION. BREAK UP IMMEDIATELY AND PASSIONATE FOR THE NEXT MATCH»
You start walking towards the locker room, the rest of the team quickly going to the showers so they can watch the match between Team A and Team C. You close your eyes to relax a little while waiting for them to leave the showers, getting scared once someone taps your shoulder after a few minutes, a wet red hair in front of you with just a towel on
"Hey, still with that complex of yours? You haven't changed drastically since now you're in the top 6, right?" He teases you, a smirk on as he ruffles your hair
"Yeah, that complex won't leave until i do" you joke to
"Well then, i was the last one there, it should be empty now" he starts drying himself, soon moving his hands towards the towel that was covering him. Sure, he thought he was with a dude, and you could probably let it happen freely, but guilt started to appear, making you stand up towards the door
"Hey" he hums at your call "i need to tell you something, let's talk after I shower?"
"Sure, no problem, I'll wait for you in the monitor room"
You shower quickly, your heart beating like crazy as the anxiety builds in, what if he hated you? What if he doesn't want to keep being your friend anymore? You couldn't blame him, your whole friendship was built out of a lie, so it would make sense if he doesn't want to anymore; sure, Nagi didn't mind at all, if anything he seemed to like the fact you were a girl a lot better, but Nagi wasn't Chigiri. Your hands started to sweat the moment they found the knob of the door, Chigiri waiting for you while watching the match.
"Hey, I'm here" You call him, making him pause the video
"You were quick, did you really shower?" He jokes, nudging you when you sit down. You forced a chuckle out, his eyes worried "okay, spit it out, what is it?"
"Chigiri…i… i have been…i am…" you mumble a couple of words, unable to bring it up right away. You look at him, a confused yet supporting look in his eyes as he waits for you to finish. You cover your eyes with your hands, ready to just say it once and for all "I'm a girl"
"I know" he says, it took you a few seconds to process it, making you look through your fingers confused and him laugh "the signs were quite obvious, really, everyone else is pretty dumb to realize"
"You…you knew? Since when?" You are dumbfounded
"I first thought about it in the match against those twins, when we fought, Ego yelled at me when I tried to open your binder to let more air in. Then things just made sense, you never shower with us, change with us, you're often comfortable with skin ship, you blush when you see us naked or without clothes. It kinda make sense"
"You…knew for that long? Why didn't you say something to me?"
"I'm sure you have your reasons, besides, it doesn't really change much, you're still my friend and i still resp-ugh" he gets cut off when you suddenly went to hug him, basically throwing yourself in his arms. He is shocked at first, but he chuckles after a few seconds and hugs you back, petting your head softly "were you worried?"
"I thought you wouldn't want to be my friend anymore" you whisper, your eyes getting wet as you hug him tighter
"Idiot" he pinch your side playfully "i bet this was hard to deal with, I can't imagine how many emotions you have bottle up, sorry for not being here for you sooner"
“Its alright” you say, tears starting to roll down unconsciously
“Don´t cry, you idiot” he hits your head softly “does Ego-san knows? Or anybody, really?”
“Ego knows, he told me to join so i can help you guys up…and Nagi is the only one that knows”
“So you told Nagi before me? How dare you?” he says playfully, moving you away to clean your tears from your face
“He untied my binder in the third match of the second selection, he almost saw me naked” you hit his arm “He has known since then, it has been really relieving”
“I see…so that's why he was so touchy with you, huh? He's a slick man, I must say” he chuckles, shaking his head “so what are you planning to do now? Are you gonna keep going until you're eliminated?”
“I guess…i haven't thought much about it yet, for now i need to focus on this selection first” you say, laying your head on his shoulders “you don't mind this right?”
“Nah, i have an older sister so i'm kinda used to this” he says petting your hair once again "it's a shame that we lost, but i did felt like i got noticed…you could have help me a little though"
"Nah, you had to figure it out yourself, i can't let you outshine me after all" you cuddle a little closer into him
"I'll surpass you, little one" he says "look, the second match is about to start. Your boy better kick that antenna boy ass"
"M-my boy?! Nagi?!" You ask, feeling your face getting redder as the match starts, Chigiri just laughs at your embarrassment
"Well, yeah, what? You thought that I didn't hear you say that he was cute when you first saw him play?" He pokes your side again "hope Reo doesn't get jealous"
"Shut up and watch the match" you say, getting even more red than before while properly sitting next to Chigiri, both of you focusing on the match
Team C ended up losing 3 - 5, but despite how well they played, both Nagi and Reo interactions seemed to be quite tense, especially at the end when Nagi leaves Reo behind while he was sitting on the floor.
"They lost" you say
"Yeah, those two are insane, and so is Nagi and the dude with glasses.. you're one amazing player to be paired with them"
"Thanks for the vote of confidence" you hit him as you stand up, the TV's announcing that the next match will start in ten minutes "gotta go, I'm going to prep for the match"
You lost the next match against Team A and won against Team B, you were able to score a total of 4 goals between those two matches. By the end of the last one, Team A vs Team C, you were in the VIP room getting ready while watching it, noticing how both Rin and Shindou fight each other, Shindou kneeling him in the face and getting ready to basically knock him up if it wasn't because he got electrocuted. He was a good player, you couldn't deny that, but his violent attitude was a major red flag no matter how much of an egoist he was. Ego appears on the TV, giving the next announcements:
«The tryouts are over, six hours from now i will announced the regulars for the match against the U-20 team»
You were eating dinner alongside Nagi, Chigiri, and Yukimiya; in front of you a slice of pizza from Nagi, some chinese food from Yukimiya, fried chicken from Chigiri and your trusty old curry that was shared around too. The ambiece was a mixture of excitement and nervousness, everyone just wanting to receive the news of who will be part of the team.
You're now in the central room, just one more minute until the regular announcements; Nagi was by your side, and so was Chigiri. When the clock reaches zero a door opens up, Ego coming out with fog and lighting.
"Good work out there, you unpolished gems, I think this makes it the second time we're meeting directly..?" He says, making you roll your eyes as he starts explaining how he decided on the players. Deep down you wanted to be part of it, but you didn't know if Ego was going to let you be "first, the number one player, Itoshi Rin. This team will be centered around you, in an aggressive offense oriented formation"
He keeps explaining, quite expected to be honest, he was the one who made the most goals out of the whole tournament.
"The goalkeeper.." Ego continues "Gagamaru Gin…, next the two center backs, Aryu Jyubei and Niko Ikki. On either side of those two, we'll have two players that boost speed and technique; for the left side, Bachira Meguru, and for the right side, Chigiri Hyoma" Ego says. You look at Chigiri smiling, hitting his arm excitedly when his name was called out
"You did it! Well done" you whisper excitedly, he smirking at you
"The midfielder, Karasu Tabito…from on here on out i will announce the attackers, first, the ones who will tear down the enemy's wall, the wings will be Yukimiya Kenyu and…Yl Yn"
You hear your name being called, and soon enough you start feeling hands in your hair and hitting your back, both Nagi and Chigiri patting your head while Bachira and Karasu seem to be the ones overly excited.
"You got in, too!" You hear a loud whisper from Bachira
"Well, of course sh-he will, he's good, you know?" Nagi says nonchalantly, almost slipping oit in your secret but managing to quickly recover
"Okay, let me continue" Ego calls loudly, it's barely visible, specially if you don't know him, but you can see a tiny little smile when he noticed the support you had "and finally, at the heart of the offense will be the next two players…Nagi Seishiro, a brilliant outstanding talent"
"Well done, although expected" you nudge him, receiving a nod as his eyes light up ever so slightly
"...and finally, as the ideal partner to Itoshi Rin, the last piece is you…Isagi Yoichi. This are the top 11 who will face the U-20 Japan team"
He then proceeds to explain why Shindou wasn't playing, a question propped by Yukimiya, a simple reason really, not only he didn't spark any chemical reaction with Rin, but also he was too violent that it could cause him a red card. However, he was put as the joker in case there was a need to replace Rin…plan that was dismantled because Itoshi Sae wanted him on the team.
"...we have 15 days left, in this time, you'll go under training to become a team, there is no longer room for failure"
After the first training session, an exhausting one, with everyone else, you were in the Blue Lock meeting room, in which Ego was talking about the 'flow' and how you should try to enter in that state of mind to have even higher possibilities to win.
The days pass quickly, a repetition of similar stuff happening; now you're in the locker room, only 15 minutes away from the match.
"Hey, how does it look?" You ask both the boys in front of you, with your blue lock uniform on, a big 3 in the middle of it.
"You look good with it"
"Beautiful" they both say at the same time, the red hair chuckling at the boldness of the white one
"It feels weird wearing an uniform" you say, petting Nagi's head
"I know, especially since it's from Blue Lock" Isagi adds
"We really are playing against the U-20, we've come crazy far" Chigiri says
"But today won't be the end, in fact, we're just getting started" Nagi says now just on time when Ego comes in. He announces the players that will be on the bench, giving a small pep talk
"... We're winning this Blue Lock, today you'll carve your egos into the world" Ego ends his speech, everyone starting to walk towards the field. You follow too, Ego stopping when you passed by his side "well done, Yn-chan, your job is already completed, so you can enjoy this match"
"Yes" you answer back, going to where Chigiri and Nagi are waiting for you. Even if he hasn't told you anything definitive yet, you already knew, this was probably your last match as part of Blue Lock.
You line up, seeing the U-20 players on the other side while you start stretching "I'm getting excited"
"Same here" Chigiri says, raising his hand for a high five
You walked into the stadium, going to your positions as you keep looking at the huge crowd. It's not like you were nervous, you didn't care who was watching after all, but it felt weird having so many people watching the match; when you used to play for the girls team at your school barely anyone showed up. You keep looking around when a hand hits your head slightly
"Don't tell me you're nervous" Nagi says to you
"Don't hit me!" You hit his arm back "and no, I'm not, just surprised by the crowd"
"Well, that's good, cause we're winning this" he says petting your head before going back to his position.
The match starts now.

Practice (Blue Lock)
YAY!! FINALLY WROTE FOR THESE TWO!!! I love Sae so much 😭 I also feel bad for him that he has to deal with Shidou lmao.
Warnings: Cursing, this is a tickle fic so if that’s not your thing just keep scrolling
Summery: Saes had enough of Shidous antics. Unfortunately there isn’t much he can do about it.
Sae Itoshi was going to kill Ryusei Shidou.
He decided he wanted to give him a very painful death and swore he’d follow through with it when he could. Why, may you ask? Well it all started from an incident that lead him into a downright humiliating situation.
“Sae-Sae pleeeeeaseee???” Shidou whined playfully.
“No.” Sae replied for the millionth time. The grumpy tone telling how fed up he was.
“But Sae-Sae I wanna practice with you!!!” Shidou cried, still following the pink haired prodigy around the field.
The U-20 team had another practice session for the upcoming match against the Blue Lock team, and Sae Itoshi finally agreed to join a practice. But only because he was on the team now for a while, and felt he needed to know who he had to work with. Certainly not because of Shidou. Definitely not. Not in a million years. Maybe…
“Stop with that nickname already! And would you give it a rest?! I’m not practicing with you right now. I’d rather just practice on my own. Juts fuck off.”
Shidou pouted at that.
“Well you’re no fun…” he said with disappointment, reaching to poke him in the ribs.
“Hnhg!”
….
Wait…
“Itoshi Sae what the fuck was that?” Shidou asked with a sly grin, taking notice how he had brought his hand to his side, possibly as a lame form of protection.
“N-nothing. Go away. Leave me alone!” Sae demanded, trying to regain the last bit of composure and pride he had left.
Shidou just smirked.
Sae looked back at him into his eyes almost as if to say, you better fucking not.
Suddenly the two had broke off into a full on chase. Saes legs were working over time today and he hated it.
The team soon took notice as they watched Shidou chasing Sae around the field.
“Wonder what’s got them so riled up?” Oliver Aiku commented as he finally noticed them, watching the two play chase.
Shidou seemed to be gaining on him, but Sae prided himself on being extremely quick and agile.
That is unless he forgot to tighten his shoe lace… which had in fact come complete undone during their little chase scene.
Just like that his agility went out the window, and Sae had fallen flat on his face.
He turned around to stand up. Before he could get up however, a massive weight had fallen on top of him, making him fall on his back, therefore keeping him straddled at the waist by Shidou on the damp and grassy ground of the field.
Unfortunately Shidou was a lot bigger and stronger than Sae could dream of becoming, so simply pushing him off was pretty much off the table. Regardless that didn’t stop his pride from trying to do just that. But it was futile no matter how much strength he put into his shoves.
“Where ya goin Sae-Sae?” Shidou teased, clearly not effected by the defense.
“Sh-Shidou get the fuck off!!” Sae protested, when he had nothing left. Getting angry was his last line of defense to try keeping his pride.
Shidou unfortunately had a counteract for that too.
“So, Sae… are you ticklish? Shidou asked with an evil grin.
“N-No!”
Crap, he said that way too fast.
“Then why’d ya run? Hmm~?”
“Because you’re annoying!”
“Then why are you so nervous?”
Well shit he got him there…
Without further ado, Shidou began wiggling his fingers up and down the pink haired boys sides.
Sae could do nothing but suppress his reactions, keeping his mouth sealed shut as he still continued to push at Shidou. If he was going down he wasn’t going down without a fight.
“Awe Cmon Sae-Sae don’t resist~ I already know you’re ticklish now so what’s the point? Well you could hide it for now… but it’s all fun in games till I find a partICKLulary bad spot~”
That damn bastard. He knew he was just trying to rule him up. Sae would rather kill himself than admit that stupid little pun almost made him break.
Suddenly however, Shidou next found a spot on his ribs. He just had to go for the ribs. The giggles finally overflowed.
“Sh-shihihihit!!!!” Sae cried, squirming around more vigorously as he pointlessly tried pulling his hands off him.
“Awwww there it is!” Shidou said with a wide grin of pure, gleeful satisfaction. Encouraged now, he dug into his ribs, pressing in between each groove as Saes laughter filled the air.
A bunch of other team mates had taken notice and stared in awe as they watched the usually stoic and clam prodigy squealing and laughing right there on the ground as he squirmed and writhed helplessly under Shidou.
“Should… we go help them?” One of them asked, sounding conflicted between concern and amusement.
“Nah~” Oliver Aiku said with a playfully lazy tone. “Little sir genius other there is probably just getting what he deserves.“
On their end however, Sae was having a not so easy time.
“SH-SHIHIHIDOHOHOU WAHAHAHAHAIT!!!!”
Sae had convulsed and threw his head back into loud cackles, as Shidous hands went around and found a spot on the back of his topmost rib.
“Uh-oh~ is this spot sensitive for you~?” Shidou teased with a smirk.
“FUHUHUCK YOHOHOHOHUU- NAHAHAHAHAHA!!!”
As soon as he said that, Shidou decided screw it and went right for his armpits.
Sae wildly kicked out his legs from behind Shidou, arching his back and clamping his arms tightly, despite that not doing anything to help.
“FIHIHIHINE!!! FIHIHIHINE IHIHIHILL PRAHAHAHACTIHIHCE WIHIHIHITH YOHOHOHOU!!!!”
Shidous expression brightened. “Awe you mean that Sae-Sae?”
Sae would’ve replied. That is, if not for the fact that his laughter had gone hysterically silent.
Shidou realized this, because he had stopped his hands, pulling them out.
Sae Itoshi, usually the most cool, calm, and collected out of most, was a mess. His face was red from being flustered and laughing so hard, his usually tamed hair was all messy now, and residue giggles were still leaking out of his mouth.
“Fuhuhuuck I hahate yohou…” Sae groaned, rubbing away at his overexcited nerves.
“Yeah sure you do Sae-Sae…” Shidou grinned, grinning as he poked at the pink heads cheek.
Shidou then held out a hand. “Well? Are we gonna practice or not.” He asked with a knowing grin.
Sae, finally gaining his composure back, accepted the hand.
“Yeah sure. But only on the condition that you don’t get too overexcited. It’s exhausting.”
He got up to see the whole team staring at the two.
Right. First he was going to have to think of a really good excuse to spare himself the embarrassment of teases from the entire team. Ryusei Shidou was so fucking dead.

TRUTH OR DARE?
pairing: piper mclean x reader
summary: truth or dare is always a fun game, especially when secrets hidden for years are revealed.
a/n: my first story for piper, hope u like it!
word count: 1k
warnings: just fluff <3
The sun was beginning to set over Camp Half-Blood, casting golden streaks across the sky as the warm summer breeze rustled through the strawberry fields. The usual camp activities were winding down for the day, and the atmosphere felt calm—almost too calm.
Which is why you weren’t surprised when Hazel, sitting cross-legged on the grass near the Athena cabin, clapped her hands together and declared, “We should play a game.”
You were gathered with some of your closest friends—Percy, Annabeth, Jason, Frank, Calypso, and, of course, Piper. The group had settled around the campfire that evening, laughing and reminiscing after a long day of training.
Percy raised an eyebrow at Hazel’s suggestion. “A game? What kind of game?”
Hazel’s eyes sparkled mischievously. “Truth or Dare.”
Groans echoed through the group, and you laughed nervously. You knew how games like this ended—with embarrassing confessions or ridiculous dares.
“Oh, come on,” Hazel insisted. “It’ll be fun! We need something light after the week we’ve had.”
Annabeth gave a skeptical glance but shrugged, leaning back against Percy’s shoulder. “Fine. But let’s keep it reasonable. I’m not running around the camp in armor or something.”
Jason smirked. “I don’t know, Annabeth. I think that’d be hilarious.”
She shot him a warning glare, but there was a smile tugging at her lips.
You shifted slightly, feeling the gentle press of Piper’s knee against yours. She sat beside you, twirling one of her braids around her finger absentmindedly. The simple contact sent a ripple of nervous energy through you—a feeling you had been dealing with for nearly two years now.
You liked Piper. A lot. More than you’d ever admitted out loud. But confessing that? In front of everyone? No chance.
Hazel grinned, taking charge. “Okay, I’ll start. Jason, truth or dare?”
Jason glanced at the group, rubbing the back of his neck. “Uh, truth.”
Hazel’s smile turned wicked. “Who was your first crush at camp?”
Jason groaned while the rest of you laughed. He muttered something about how Hazel was evil, but he eventually answered. “Thalia,” he said, cheeks reddening. “But in my defense, I didn’t know she was my sister yet!”
The group erupted into laughter, Percy practically falling over with how hard he was laughing.
The game continued, bouncing between friends. Percy dared Annabeth to recite all the Greek gods backward (which she did, smugly), and Frank had to impersonate Ares—which left everyone in stitches.
Then it was Piper’s turn. “Truth or dare?” Jason asked, leaning forward with a grin.
Piper considered for a moment, then shrugged. “Truth.”
Jason’s eyes flicked over to you briefly, and you could tell he was up to something. “Who do you think is the bravest person here?”
Piper’s gaze swept across the group before settling on you. “Y/N,” she said simply.
Your heart nearly stopped.
“Me?” you blurted, feeling heat rush to your face.
Piper smiled, nudging you lightly. “Yeah. You’ve been through a lot, and you always handle things with your head held high. I admire that.”
Your heart raced, but you managed a weak, “Thanks.”
The game carried on, but your mind stayed stuck on Piper’s words.
Finally, it was Hazel’s turn again, and she smiled directly at you. “Y/N,” she said sweetly. “Truth or dare?”
You hesitated. “Truth.”
Hazel’s smile widened. “Who do you like?”
Silence.
Your stomach twisted into knots as every pair of eyes locked onto you. Percy leaned forward with an eager grin, and Jason exchanged a knowing glance with Annabeth.
“Oh, come on,” Percy said, practically vibrating with excitement. “You’ve got to answer.”
“I don’t know,” you mumbled, trying to deflect, but Annabeth crossed her arms and shook her head.
“No getting out of it. It’s the rules.”
You swallowed hard, stealing a glance at Piper, who sat quietly beside you. She wasn’t looking at you, instead fidgeting with her camp bracelet.
Hazel’s eyes softened. “You don’t have to say if it makes you uncomfortable,” she added, but the curiosity was still there.
Your pulse roared in your ears, and suddenly, keeping this secret felt impossible. The weight of it had been pressing on you for too long.
Sighing, you rubbed your palms against your knees, forcing the words out before you could stop yourself. “It’s Piper,” you admitted softly. “I’ve liked Piper for a while now.”
A beat of silence passed, followed by a collective gasp from the group.
Percy’s jaw dropped, and Jason let out a triumphant, “I knew it!”
Annabeth shot him a glare, but even she looked pleasantly surprised.
Piper, however, froze. Her braid slipped from her fingers, and her eyes widened as she slowly turned to face you.
“You…” she started, her voice barely above a whisper.
You nodded, unable to look at her for more than a second. “Yeah. For almost two years, actually.”
The group erupted into chaotic whispers and laughter, but your focus was solely on Piper.
Her hand reached out hesitantly, brushing against yours.
“I—me too,” she admitted, her voice trembling slightly. “I’ve liked you for years, Y/N.”
Your head snapped up, meeting her eyes. “Really?”
Piper’s face broke into a warm, almost shy smile. “Yeah. I guess we were both just dancing around it.”
Hazel beamed, clearly pleased with herself for orchestrating the moment. “I told you this game was a good idea.”
Percy crossed his arms, smirking. “You two are literally the worst at hiding feelings.”
Jason chuckled. “Seriously. We’ve all been waiting for this to happen.”
Piper laughed softly, threading her fingers with yours. “I guess we made it pretty obvious.”
You squeezed her hand, feeling warmth spread through your chest. “Better late than never.”
As the game continued, Piper shifted closer, resting her head lightly against your shoulder. For the first time in two years, the weight of unspoken words lifted, and you felt… complete.
And as the stars blinked to life over Camp Half-Blood, you knew this was only the beginning.

The Game She Plays- Chapter 5
Previous Chapter
The gym lights flickered off, casting long shadows across the empty court. The sound of sneakers skidding to a halt and volleyballs bouncing off the walls faded as the team slowly disbanded. Caitlyn was waiting in the corner for Mel. Athena wiped her brow with a towel, her chest rising and falling with the exertion. She was always the last to leave, always the one who lingered in the quiet after the chaos.
Mel approached her, a serious expression on her face. Mel and Athena were friends for a while because they were both captains of the volleyball team, but The tension between them was palpable, neither of them could avoid it any longer.
"You know, if you're going to keep running away from this, you might end up losing something that matters," Mel's voice was low, but her words cut through the air like a sharp knife.
Athena shot her a sideways glance, but her face remained unreadable. She tossed the towel over her shoulder, turning to face Mel with a slight furrow of her brow.
"It's not like that, Mel," she said, the words coming out with practiced indifference. "I don't need advice on my love life. I'm good."
Mel's lips pressed into a thin line, clearly not convinced. "People are starting to talk you know.. jumping around each person? It's getting old and they're seeing you with Caitlyn. In here, the library and even at you and Vi's gym," She took a step closer, crossing her arms in front of her. "It's not about love, Athena. It's about not being afraid to let someone in. You can't keep pushing people away just because you're scared of what might happen."
Athena bristled at the words, her posture stiffening. She turned her gaze toward the exit, willing herself to walk away from the conversation. "I'm fine," she muttered, her voice barely above a whisper. But even she could hear the hollowness in it.
Mel stepped forward again, her voice softer now, almost pleading. "I'm just looking out for you, okay? Caitlyn... she's a good person. I've been telling her you're not the relationship type but I think she really see's something.. so, don't shut her out. I've seen you do it before—let someone in, and then you pull back the second it gets too real."
Athena's eyes flickered with something that was almost pain before she masked it with a forced smile. "I'll be fine," she said, but the words didn't hold the weight of conviction. They were a defense mechanism, a way to shut Mel out before she could get any closer.
Mel watched her for a moment longer, concern deepening in her eyes. She knew the walls Athena built weren't just to keep others out; they were a shield against the pain that still lingered from her past.
Before Mel could speak again, Athena grabbed her bag and slung it over her shoulder. "I'm done here," she muttered, quickly walking toward the locker room.
As Athena headed toward the door, a voice rang out from the entrance, stopping her in her tracks. The voice was familiar, sharp, and laced with an unsettling mixture of confidence and mockery.
"Well, well, if it isn't the infamous Athena," Vanessa said with a smirk, her eyes scanning the gym as if she owned the space. She walked in like she was the star of the show, her designer clothes a stark contrast to the gym's sweat-streaked walls.
Athena froze. The blood drained from her face as memories—painful, unwanted—flooded her mind. Vanessa. The name alone was enough to pull Athena back to a time when her heart had been wide open and her trust easily given. And Vanessa? Vanessa had torn it all apart.
"What are you doing here?" Athena's voice was strained, though she masked it with a cool tone.
Vannessa's smile widened, clearly enjoying the effect she was having on Athena. "Thought I'd drop by the court. Why? did u miss me?"
Athena didn't respond immediately. She turned her back to Vanessa, her hands tightening around the strap of her gym bag. The last thing she needed was to deal with Vanessa's games. She kept her voice steady. "It doesn't matter," she said flatly, hoping Vanessa would just leave.
But Vanessa didn't take the hint. She took a few steps closer, looking Athena up and down with a smirk. "I see you're still the same."
Athena's heart skipped a beat. She felt the words stinging, even if she didn't let it show.
Vanessas gaze shifted to Caitlyn, who had been watching from the sidelines. "And you brought your little friend along for the ride, huh? Caitlyn, right? She's cute. Is she your new... distraction?"
Athena's stomach churned. She couldn't stop the flare of anger that rose inside her. Her teeth ground together, but before she could react, Sarah continued, her voice laced with mockery.
"Oh, I heard the rumors, you know? You've always had a thing for the strong, silent type. But I don't think Caitlyn's cut out for it, darling. Trust me on that."
That was enough. Athena spun on her heels, her fists clenched by her sides. "Don't talk about her like you know anything," she snapped, her voice laced with venom.
But Vanessa wasn't fazed. In fact, it seemed to amuse her. "Touchy, huh? Guess some wounds never really heal, I was going to go to workout here for a bit, but now i'm not in the mood" Vanessa said, her smirk never faltering. She turned and walked toward the exit, leaving a cold tension in her wake.
Mel stepped forward, her voice low, almost protective. "You're not going to let her get to you, right? Not again?"
Athena didn't answer immediately. She stood there for a long moment, her gaze fixed on the door where Vanessa had just left. Her walls were trembling, cracks forming as the pain of her past tried to resurface. But she couldn't let it. Not now. Not again.
"I'm fine," she muttered, though the words held none of the strength they usually did.
Mel watched her for a moment before speaking again, softer this time. "She doesn't get to control you, Athena."
But Athena wasn't listening. She had already gone quiet, retreating back into herself, putting the emotional walls back up where they belonged.
From the corner of the gym, Caitlyn had been watching the entire exchange. Her heart ached for Athena—she could see the raw pain beneath the tough exterior. It was a side of Athena she hadn't known existed.
Caitlyn moved toward her, unsure of what to say. But the moment she opened her mouth, she realized it wasn't the right time. Athena wasn't in the mood for conversation.
"Are you okay?" Caitlyn's voice was soft, tentative. She stepped closer, her eyes searching Athena's face for any hint of what had just happened.
Athena didn't answer immediately. Instead, she grabbed her gym bag, her movements sharp and almost mechanical. "I'm fine."
But Caitlyn wasn't fooled. She saw the crack in Athena's armor, and it made her heart ache.
"You don't look fine," Caitlyn tried again, her voice gentle. "What was that about? Who was she?"
Athena flinched at the question, her jaw tightening. "Someone I used to know. It doesn't matter," she replied quickly, brushing past Caitlyn.
Caitlyn couldn't let it go. She needed to understand. "Athena—"
"I said it doesn't matter," Athena cut her off, her voice suddenly cold, like a door slamming shut.
Caitlyn stood there for a moment, feeling the weight of Athena's words. She didn't push further. She couldn't. But something had shifted. She knew now that there was so much more to Athena than the confident, guarded athlete everyone saw. And Caitlyn wanted to know what lay beneath the surface. She let it go, her and Mel let Athena cool off by herself, and they walked away.
________________
Later that evening, VI and Athena found themselves alone in the quiet of their house.
"Talk to me, Athena," VI said, her voice softer now, more insistent. "I'm not letting this go. You can't keep running from everything, not forever."
Athena's eyes flickered, and for a moment, she seemed to falter. But then she crossed her arms over her chest, her walls rising once more.
"I'm fine, I shouldn't have told you what happened" she said, but VI could hear the lie in it. Athena's voice was shaky, barely holding onto control.
"First, No. I'm your sister you don't have to apologize for telling me this." VI voice was firm. "And you're not fine. This has nothing to do with Caitlyn. This is about Vanessa, isn't it?"
Athena's heart skipped, and for the first time in years, the vulnerability she'd buried deep inside her came rushing to the surface. "I let her in, VI. I trusted her, and she—she used me. She didn't love me. She used me," Athena whispered, her voice strained as she said the words she'd been too afraid to admit even to herself.
VI's expression softened, and she stepped closer. "Athena...you don't have to do this alone."
But Athena wasn't ready to let her in, "Please, just- I'm done with this."
VI was confused, "What do you mean?"
Athena got up without explanation and left.
VI knew she couldn't say anything to convince Athena to talk, she just knew she would be there when the time comes. "At least come to Mel's party, it's the last one before exams." She shouts out before she hears the slam of Athenas door.

Genshin [Volleyball Team AU - Inspired by Haikyuu!] What it’s like to be their manager Headcanons
Note: I think a lot of people misunderstand the role of the manager XD It’s not that the whole team is dating you. It’s that the whole team treats you like their family/sister. So you’d better bet that all of them are gunna be hella protective of you XD
Scenario: What do you do for the team and what do they do for you? :D
Warnings: not proofread, fluffy, might have some swear words, platonic relationships
Characters: Zhongli, Diluc, Kaeya, Albedo, Tartaglia, Kazuha, Xiao, Tohma, reader as the team manager
Other works in the Volleyball Team AU Series: Click Here
Genshin Volleyball Team manager
It’s just fuckin’ chaos
On your first day you’re already bombarded with questions by Tartaglia and Kaeya
“So which class are you?” “What’s your height?” “Are you single?”
Captain Zhongli just cannot be bothered to reign them in anymore.
So Vice Captain Diluc does it and grabs their collars. “You idiots, you’re scaring her off!”
Possibly Kazuha and Tohma are the ones you really try to rely on, on your first few weeks.
So how do you gain the trust of your team? Let’s start with each player shall we?
#1 Zhongli (Captain/Wing Spiker/Ace)
Zhongli is just handsome and mature. He’s strict and needs to be the pillar of the team.
You’re intimidated by him the first few weeks and he just seems...a little far. He’s always so focused that you can’t seem to catch a moment to just chat with him.
There’s a day where you notice that his form is a little off, you suspect that he hurt his wrist a little.
You fidget uncomfortably in the gym as they practice, but finally turn to the coach “U-Umm... The captain is... I mean! I’m not sure, but... I think he needs to take a rest,”
The coach calls for someone to substitute Zhongli and suddenly asks you to check on him.
“Huh?! Me?!” the coach pushes you towards him, and Zhongli is just looking at you quizzically, you can practically see the question mark on his face.
“C-Captain, d-do you need some bandages on your wrist?”
Zhongli is taken aback, but silently puts his right wrist out for you to wrap.
Only when you’re done tending to it does he look you in the eye and ask.
“How did you know?”
“...Because I always watch, and all I can do is watch. If I can’t even spot that out then I’m not a very good manager am I?”
Zhongli has a newfound respect for you. He thought you were just a meek and shy thing sitting around and passing them balls but he feels his heart swell that someone like you is seriously watching over them.
#2 Diluc (Vice Captain/Wing Spiker/Defense Specialist)
Diluc is probably the second hardest to get along with or break the ice with.
But he gradually warms up to you when he notices that he’s always the first one you pass a towel and water bottle to.
You’re not doing that on purpose, it’s just him who always comes up first.
After a few days he deliberately goes to you faster cause he always wants to be the one to receive a water bottle and towel from you first. Secretly a puppy.
The moment he realized that you were reliable was when you stayed behind to help him practice when everyone else went home already.
You didn’t let up in your constant praise of “nice receive”, “great spike!” and “that’s so cool!”
He thinks he saw stars in your eyes at some point.
“Hey, Diluc, it’s getting late, let’s leave some energy for tomorrow, yeah?” he could tell from your mannerisms that you were tired too, but you tried not to let it show on your face and still cleaned up with him.
“I’ll see you tomorrow then!” you wave but you’re stopped by a quick. “No,” from him. You tilt your head in wonder and he just looks at you as if it’s the most normal thing in the world.
“It’s late, I’ll walk you home,”
#3 Kaeya (Middle Blocker)
You don’t have to impress this guy, anyone of the female gender impresses him.
lol jk
safe to say it’s not difficult to befriend Kaeya, just bring him a cheering squad and some food.
all jokes aside the way to this guy’s heart is through his stomach.
He’s not a particularly hungry person but there’s this one time he forgot to bring lunch. He was running late, or something of that sort, honestly not something new for him.
He ALSO didn’t bring money so he couldn’t eat food from the cafeteria.
Ask his friends for money you say? Tartaglia would go, “Haha no way!” Albedo would go, “Let this be a lesson for you,” his brother would go “Serves you right,”
By club time he’s famished and dramatic. “Guys, go on without me, this is as far as I go,” as he sprawls on the gym floor.
You ask if he’s okay and he doesn’t answer so Diluc is the one that answers for him. “He forgot his lunch, as always,”
You make a sound of understanding and the next thing you know you’re taking out a lunch box and Kaeya has lifted his head up, sensing food.
“I packed onigiri for everyone today, actually... In case someone was hungry. It’s not much but--”
Kaeya comes alive from the dead and clutches your hands to his chest. “Manager you really are an angel,”
Diluc jump kicks him away from you.
#4 Albedo (Setter)
You also don’t know how to approach this guy
He always looks mad or stoic or something. Like he’s always thinking about something.
He low key actually is always thinking about play strategies and how to set the ball better for his teammates.
You really do think he works so hard while the game is going on, so you decide to help him out a little bit.
You watch a few more of their games and somehow come up with a list of what kinds of sets are better for each different spiker in the team.
There’s surprise in his eyes when you pass the document to him and modestly exclaim “...but, it might not be accurate, since I’m not that experienced,”
He still nods and says “...It’s the thought that counts,”
When he does read your report and try the techniques out he notices that it does hold some merit in it
Is amazed like how Zhongli is amazed. He thought you were just there to hand them bottles and cheer for them but he had never been so wrong as to what a manager’s role is.
Will trust you enough to ask you about his set performance.
Will sometimes slam Kaeya with an insult. “Kaeya, your spike sense is horrid, Y/N can read the moves better than you,”
#5 Tartaglia (Middle Blocker/Wing Spiker)
It’s not that he has a hard time trusting people but let’s just say he has the tendency to make you feel like he likes you but then he actually does that to everyone.
For example: He’ll throw compliments like “Oh that’s amazing Y/N!” but then back in the classroom you’ll hear him say “Oh that’s amazing!” to, like, every other person.
That kinda disappoints you cause then the comment doesn’t really hold that much meaning to it if he keeps on saying it to others too.
He encounters a crisis mid year because this guy is just... he struggles with his grades.
Captain Zhongli has told him he can’t play volleyball if he fails even one subject.
This boy is panicking and has semi-accepted this is the end of his volleyball career.
So you offer to study with him and he’s legit stoked.
Intensive and strict study sessions commence. Note taking, pop quizzes, surprise questions and even sudden random calls from you wherein you ask him a question and he has to answer within 5 seconds.
You’ve pulled all the study techniques you know here, this man better pass everything.
Welp, he still fails History....but since he worked so hard Captain Zhongli excuses it.
He’s so happy that he can’t hold back the stupidly wide smile on his face. He turns to you and for the very very first time in months, he bows and THANKS you.
You realize that he’s never thanked you before. Not even when you pass him water bottles or towels.
You consider it a win, getting rare and sincere appreciation from him.
#6 Kazuha (Decoy/Middle Blocker/Wing Spiker)
One of the easiest to get along with but at the same time, he’s so mature that you feel like you’re not even in the same age range as him.
Definitely someone you can count on though, so you ask him many questions on the first week.
Still, it’s one of those things where you can kind of talk to him but there’s still a wall between you two.
One day while walking around in school there were these boys who were commenting about his height, and questioning his abilities as a volleyball team member.
You didn’t really think much about it when you speak up, “But he’s a really good middle blocker and spiker,”
Those boys look at you weirdly and you realize that you’ve unconsciously spoken up. So you hurriedly walk away.
Little did you know that Kazuha was in some secret corner and heard the whole thing.
Just like that, the next day, it seems as if the wall between you two was gone, and you’re able to talk freely.
That, and he seemed to like asking you to help him practice his spikes and throw balls for him now.
#7 Xiao (Libero)
is deceivingly easy to get along with. Just has a rough exterior but is actually a softie if you squint.
You know this because there are subtle things he does.
He doesn’t speak to you much but then he would be the one picking up the balls with you, or sometimes there’s magically a new set of clean towels on the bench that you don’t remember taking out from the storage room.
This guy is passionate for the game, so he really beats himself up when he isn’t able to receive a ball during actual games.
You worry about his mentality sometimes. I mean, it’s a team game, it’s not like he alone can save the whole game
So you talk to him about it the other day
“You’re already a really good libero Xiao, I mean... I’m not saying you should stop practicing but you don’t have to feel so bad...” you pause because this doesn’t feel like the message you want to convey
“Sorry, what I mean is... You CAN feel bad, but share the burden with your team, you know?”
He knows what you’re saying and contemplates it for a while. He knows that his team has his back, but sometimes just needs reminder about it.
He looks at you and asks, “...Can I share the burden with you too?”
You blink “Huh?”
“You said I can share the burden with my team, but can I share it with you too?”
There is a blush on his cheeks at this point.
“Oh, yea! Of course! I don’t play but I’m still part of the team you know!”
Ever since then, during games, if he feels a little frustrated he’d glance at you on the bench and you’d give him a thumbs up for a job well done.
#8 Tohma (Pinch Server/Middle Blocker)
You’re like bffs the moment you see each other
lol jk
You’re still awkward with him the first few days cause that’s just how first meetings are.
But he is very easy to talk to and always makes you feel at ease
Will always be the one to ask how you are if you need any help or if class was okay in general
Seems like the type of person to care more about others than himself
So he’s surprised when you come into the gym and you beat him to asking his usual questions.
“Tohma, how are you today? Did you have a proper lunch?”
“Tohma, are you getting tired? Want some water?”
“Tohma, how was class today?”
All the other members of the team turn to look at the two of you, thinking ‘Why does Tohma get extra attention?’
Tohma certainly doesn’t get extra attention you just TALK to him more. The other members deadass are also getting cared for by you, just in different ways.
This boy has some insecurities though, when it comes to playing the game. He hasn’t been in it for long so he’s the least experienced and that gets to him sometimes.
“Oh, really? But you play really well! I couldn’t tell that you’re new”
His serves are really amazing though.
“Also! You always score points for us with the serves. Sometimes, your serves are my favourite part of the game!”
Has practiced extra hard so as not to let you down.

Helloooo! Kind of new anon here - been obsessed with your headcanons and writing as it is soooo good ahhhhh *flails in fangirl*
I am not sure what rules you have for asks (so feel free to ignore) but just needed to let out the thoughts of Bakugo running around in my head!!
So my impression is that Bakugo would very much be a ride-or-die type of guy. Like the in it for the long game type dude who doesn’t date unless he’s sure he can see himself being with this person for the full ride.
Which makes me cackle to think about how this can tie with a rivals to lovers type trope where the person who stands out just initially annoys the hell out of him - can kick his ass in training, is always ready with a quick retort, doesn’t shy from his grumpiness or outbursts. Both just hating each other’s guts. But also because of that, you understand each other better than anyone else. You see when he’s at a low and he sees when something is bothering you. After seeing each other at your lowest but finding the beauty in that to stick with each other through thick and thin - ughh my heart!!
Then it hits Bakugo when he catches himself daydreaming and wondering what it would be like to have a life with you. And he’s like “oh shit” but little does he know you’re also thinking the same thing lol
hi hi hi!!! thank you so much for enjoying my stuff so much that u wanted to send me an idea of ur own! i appreciate both the follow and the kindness (and trust hehe) A LOT!
can i be honest tho? stories that present two characters at odds w/ one another who are actually the only ones who understand each other.... make. me. BONKERSSSS CRAZY, truly one of my favorite tropes that has me crying and screaming on the floor every single time...
sooooo uh... YES!!! to this idea, and i hope u don't mind me continuing on a lil bit. just thinking about all the moments you have together that u and bakugo just absolutely refuse to talk about.... but mean so much.
the time you land on your wrist wrong after he knocked you out of the air during training, and he immediately stopped the fight to bandage you up. the time he gets off the phone after finding out he didn't make the top ten this year and deku did.... and you let him cry into your shoulder and keep him company and make him tea so he doesn’t have to be alone.
obvs, hardly anyone is aware of u two so no teasing takes place about your crushes... but it's sooooo, so obvious when either of u really think about it, esp when the thoughts u have become less about wanting to beat the other in a fight... and more domestic and sweet. bakugo having a rough night and just wanting to see your face, even if you snap at him (which you wouldn't)... or you just wishing he was there to tell you that you did a good job after patrol.
despite everything, all the fighting and mean words, it's like you're searching for each other every single second!!!
and maybe this is cliche... but i feel like neither of you would confess until... something bad happens. Like another hero is bullying you, or you get caught up with some villain... and bakugo is just going bananas because HE'S THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN TEASE U. HE'S THE ONLY ONE ALLOWED TO FIGHT W/ YOU. BARK BARK WOOF WOOF he gets so defensive! and maybe you do too when the same thing happens to him.
And then you're both finally able to admit... yeah. this is love(and it will be forever).
#bakugo#RIDE OR DIE BAKUGO I SCREAMMMMMMMMM#i want him so badly#im not usually an enemies to loves person but like. having a weird relationship and still seeking comfort in each other???#ohhhh that's my drug of choice yes please#i hope u don't mind i got to this so late AND added so much#it was an excellent idea ... chef's kiss..........#caitie things#long post#anon#queue

howdy i had a dream about vampires and mumscarian so behold the ramblings of my drowsy brain. i've also gotten distracted like seven times trying to write this lmao boatem as vampire hunters but scar gets turned (because of course he does) and the group is torn between team 'well-he's-a-vampire-now-we-gotta-kill-him' (impulse and pearl) and team 'how-about-we-don't-do-that?' (mumbo and grian) mumbo's got a spine like a wet noodle though so he flip flops between both groups. grian puts up a front of wanting to kill scar but every time the two come face to face he seems to always miss when it counts the most.
it doesn't help that scar's fully embraced the aesthetic and is like 20% hotter with the fangs along.
the two do a lot of flirt-fighting, grian insistent that he can take on scar by himself only to come back battered and even more determined to "handle" scar on his own.
everything boils over when grian's has scar pinned to the floor, sliver chains on his wrists to keep the vampire down, stake poised over his heart, and he just can't kill him. scar does his best to convince grian that he doesn't need to do this, that he can just let scar get away yet again, and grian quietly confesses that he doesn't want to let scar go.
he misses when they were on the same side, and his heart's split in two.
dropping the smug facade, scar bares his heart in return, that he hasn't been attacking humans, he hasn't hurt a living soul, that just because he was turned he wasn't suddenly a completely new person.
"i might be a vampire, but that doesn't make me a monster."
grian caves and lets scar go, but not before making a small side comment about enjoying their chasing game, but that it has to end sooner rather than later.
the two find each other yet again, but it's different, grian's not geared up for one, his only defense a silver cross at his neck, he's slower, he's not putting up a real fight. and he's grinning the whole time.
scar gets grian pinned up to a wall, eyeing up the chain with an annoyed grumble. a contingency plan, grian explains, flushed and breathing heavy.
grian makes scar promise that if he's turned, he'll still be good. it's that blurry line between monsters and humanity, and he promises.
grian yanks off the chain in one clean snap, when they're interrupted by mumbo, silver knife out and ready. he's already lost scar, he wasn't going to lose grian too. mumbo tells scar to stop controlling grian, because surely that was the only reason grian hadn't killed scar yet.
but grian holds up the chain in clear view, and lets it fall. with an open hand he asks mumbo to come with them, that they can all be together again, no more fighting, to run away and live the rest of eternity happily.
grian can feel scar getting impatient, the vampire's breath hot against his neck, fangs lightly pressed to his skin, and he pleads with mumbo to come with him.
mumbo hesitates, and in the distance, pearl could be heard shouting, her voice drawing near. he turns back, and looks down at his knife.
scar didn't want to fight him, and neither did grian. but pearl did.
he steps close, picking up the chain, and for a moment he really considered the offer. but a pair of footsteps grew close, and mumbo pocketed the chain, rushing back down the alley. "i'll cover for you." grian opens his mouth to beg again, but scar's bloodlust had reached its peak, and he sinks his fangs into grian's neck. he lets out a shrill scream, and the last thing grian sees is mumbo warding off two shadowy figures, being carried away in scar's arms. grian wakes up with a vial of blood pressed against his lips, and drinks greedily, curled up into scar's side. "we'll get him," scar reassures him. "we'll bring him home." tl;dr two vampires and their human boyfriend try not to die hope u enjoy like halfway thru this ask basically turned into a fic in it of itself - ☾ anon (im new here :D )
WHY CANT I HAVE DREAMS LIKE THIS BRUH
this is such a great idea too. Scar getting turned then force to run from them </3 Grian can't bring it in him to kill Scar cuz LOVE and Mumbo so on the fence.. waaah theres so much angst potential before Grian decides to be with Scar forever amazing amazing, i love this crescent moon anon- sososo much <3 the little ficlet itself is amazingly written too aaaaa

saiki kusuo x reader
word count: 1.6k
synopsis: you go to saiki’s place to play some video games. saiki learns a bit about your dirty laundry.
cw: suggestions of past sexual abuse. it’s not explicitly stated but it’s heavily implied.
genre: fluff, hurt/comfort
reader is gender neutral!
===================================================
notes:
i’ve had this sitting in my drafts for a few weeks now, but i was never happy with it.
it’s implied that you and saiki are in week 2-4 of dating;;;
i have some other stuff in the works but im tired so notes r boring today
enjoy waaaaaa
===================================================
When Saiki and you were left alone together, the tension that hung in the air was fun and playful. Coy glances, the heart jittering brushes of skin, and the almost knowing smiles you two would shoot each other. This time around, it was heavy, and it weighed hefty on both your shoulders.
It was your first time over at his place since you had begun dating.
You had texted him: can i come over? i bought a new game i wanna play it with u
He was very happy you decided to make the first move, he didn’t want to make you feel uncomfortable.
Immediately, the “devlivered” at the corner of your text changed to “read”. He hastily typed back: Sure, let me know when you’re here. My parents aren’t home.
You saw letters on your screen, but you squinted your eyes shut upon them entering your field of vision. You had thrown your phone across the room, too nervous to look at his response. Tentatively picking it up, your heart nearly exploded at his words. You quickly respond: okay! be there soon :)
Saiki suddenly felt a bit on edge, realization finally striking him that you were about to be in his presence. In his bedroom. Alone.
Saiki Kusuo never really felt things too intensely, so to feel it strike at his heart and stomach was almost a bit too much for his liking.
Saiki wound up sitting patiently at the dining room table, using his telekensis to pick things up, rearrange ornaments and fine china, and clean up trash. The last thing he wants is you coming over when the place is a mess.
The doorbell rang, not that he needed it to know you were here. Beckoning you in, you pull out a small disc box from your bag.
“I heard really good reviews from it. I was interested in it since I liked the art style but I wanted to wait until people played it and reviews came out before I committed.”
He takes it from your hands to inspect it, “I’m not super interested in recent games, I like older ones a bit more. Indie ones too. I’ve heard that the gameplay is really compelling.”
“That’s okay, we can still play together, right?” You almost look a bit nervous. Saiki gnawed at the inside of his lip.
“Sure,” you don’t look satisfied, “I don’t mind, doing things with you is nice.”
The content expression on your face satisfies him. You follow him upstairs.
Then the tension settles. You’re so close, the pleasant floral scent from your detergent lingering where you walk. He peers behind you as you take in his room: simple, clean, minimalistic. It’s painfully in character. You smile, flopping face down on his bed.
“I’ve only ever been here with everyone else, it was so lively then, but it’s so different when it’s quiet!” You situate yourself so you’re sitting at the edge of his bed, legs dangling off the side.
“It’s the same room.”
“Yeah but, now it’s just me and you.”
“I suppose so.”
You watch as he peers to the wall, a bit away from you.
“What, you’re not nervous are you? Do I make you, THE Saiki Kusuo nervous?”
He clicks his tongue, and begins stalking towards you. He stops right in front of you, shins nearly touching the mattress of his bed. He looks down, expression deadpanned like usual. Perhaps thats precisely why you got so flustered. Your hands coming to clasp politely in your lap, you look up at him, determined to hold eye contact.
“Mhm,” he smirks, “you do. What will you do about it?”
He watches as your lips part into a small ‘o’, before you turn your head down and begin to pout. He’ll spare you this time. The small proximity between you settles in; he should get out of here, nervousness is finally catching up, it’s a bit too much for him to handle. For such a cocky one-liner, he really can’t keep it together. He exits his room for a moment with a brief “wait here”.
He hears you let out a sigh down the hall. Taking the chance to inspect his belongings, you peer under his bed, nothing suspicious there, before making your way to his desk. There’s his computer, a nice leather desk chair, a lamp, and a small empty mug that holds pens, pencils, and highlighters. You thumb through them.
He re-enters his room, quietly opening the door, but just enough so where you hear. Outstreching his arm, he hands you a bottle of iced tea.
“This is,” inspecting the label, “you don’t usually drink these, right?”
Saiki stays quiet.
“So you got it for me? You remembered I liked it?”
He nods.
You beam at him, mutter your gratitude, and pull out the games box.
Placing the disc onto the disc reader, and pushing it in, you start up the game, and watch the intro animation.
“Yeah, the graphics are really nice,” he comments.
You adjust yourself, sitting on top a cushion on the floor, he moves a bit closer.
Skipping though dialog, tutorials, and the first few levels of the game, Saiki controller finally begins responding.
“I’m sorry, I thought the multiplayer feature would be available from the start.”
“It’s okay, you can pick first”
“Hmm...” you pause, brows furrowing in focus as you look through the different player avatar options. Finally, you turn to him and smile, “this one! Your turn.”
Saiki bites at the inside of his lip, again, moving his thumb over the joystick, he picks his avatar.
It’s nice, it’s quiet, the sound of cicada’s chirping outside his bedroom window, and the soft hum of his fan are gentle. Neither of you are talking about grand things like aspirations and inhibitions, but you didn’t have to. The soft, casual tone of conversation is something Saiki’s making sure to cherish. The game’s fun, Saiki is enjoying himself, he enjoys you.
But tension still looms heavy overhead. You aren’t the only one who was thinking about it, how close you two were, how your elbows kept bumping, the small,and the way you both tried to get just a millimeter closer.
Saiki knew what you wanted, but he couldn’t pull himself to take initiative. Why? Was nervousness just another curse set out to plague him?
He’s reading your mind, he knows without a doubt you want to, so why is he so nervous to reach out and touch you? He wants to run away.
“Saiki?”
Your voice broke his thoughts, he turns to you. “Are you okay?”
He does it without thinking, slowly placing the controller down and putting his palms on your shoulders.
“I’m just not used to this,” he finally says, “like, dating and all that.”
You wrap your fingers around his wrists, “that’s okay, I’ve never dated anyone either, we can just take it slow. We have time.” You reassure, “I’m nervous too,” voice smaller than before. He lifts his hands off, hovering them in front of you, debating on where he should put them. Should he put them back on your shoulders, or would that be weird? Maybe it’s okay if he takes your hands into his, but right now your hands are...
His vision finally focuses, and he looks at your hands, defensively positioned in front of your chest with your palms facing him. You’re looking at him with a half smile, but your brows are pursed down. You’re watching him very carefully.
Your thoughts still, pausing until he moves again, taking your hands in his own. He’s confused, why do you look so skittish?
You look visibily confused that he takes your hands. He’s granted one thought:
He’s not gonna do anything, see? He’s just holding my hands, that’s it. He’s not gonna do anything.
Do what? What do you mean? Do what?
“What do you mean?” He blurts out, voice ringing through your head.
Astonishment paints your face. Shit, you didn’t think you said anything out loud. Could he read your mind? He chooses not to say anything.
You shake your arms, he retracts his hands.
“I’ve just had bad experiences with people in the past, I got nervous, that’s all. I’m sorry.”
Oh. Your internal dialog isn’t as pleasant as the words you choose to say.
“Maybe I’ll tell you about it more in the future,” you still have the strength to smile at him?
He reaches out to touch you again, but never connecting. He hesitates this time, fingers hovering over your forearm.
“I’m not really interested in that sort of stuff. I wouldn’t do that to you. I won’t do that to you,” he corrects.
With a smile pained with melancholy, you shift yourself forward, wrapping your arms around his torso, burying your face into his shoulder, legs finding their way between his. He wastes no time wrapping his own arms around your back, pressing your chest closer to his own. Your hearts pound against each other, breathing syncing as you both exhale a sigh.
“I didn’t mean to scare you.”
“I know,” your voice is muffled.
You stay like that for a few moments. Cicada’s chirping, fan blowing, there’s nothing to say- the silence is comforting in it’s own way.
You finally pull away from him, voice much brighter, “but I’m not ready to kiss you yet, I think my heart would explode!” He flushes red. Adjusting to sit back onto the cushion, you lean your weight onto his side. He tension has finally settled, and Saiki sighs contently.
Saiki only uses his powers in ways to convinience himself. Fortunately, keeping you safe was more than convinient to him: it was the bare minimum- an absolute necessity.
As soon as you leave, he’ll find the bastards that did it.

→ Now, Jungkook was never one for romance, far from the sappy type. But why couldn’t he word it more softly, gently? He wasn’t just trying to fuck you, he was trying to… make love. GENRE romance, smut, teensy angst WARNINGS eventual smut, mentions of sex, virginity plays a huge role OTHER college crushes, childhood friends to lovers, besties to lovers, volleyball player!jk, student council pres!oc, seokjin is 32... and a a coach lol<3 RATING m (18+) WC 1.5k
NOTES (!) seokjin being a hot 32 year old <3 jk gets progressively more dumb as it goes, prayer circle <3 lmk what u think !
[ masterlist ]
The truth is, the reason Jungkook doesn’t lie that much is because he’s terrible at it.
His mother had found out soon enough who put that dent on the car after a slip-up at the dinner table. His high school coach had learned he had purposely skipped out on practice after an accidental snapchat and jealous teammate had snitched. And, well. Fifteen minutes after the end of practice finds him sitting outside the gymnasium, a grimace on his face as he considers running back to your room and confessing to all his lies. Admitting he’s still a virgin— which was practically of no use to you —and maybe even revealing his own recently uncovered feelings was the easy way out.
Thankfully, Assistant Coach Kim Seokjin is there to knock some sense into him. The hard plastic of the clipboard they use to outline their attacks smacks him hard over the head, making Jungkook’s bones rattle from his skull down to his toes as he steps up behind him. He whirls around to glare at the perpetrator, only to come face to face with the aforementioned assistant coach. “Go home,” Seokjin says, twirling the gym keys in one hand. “I’m trying to lock up.”
“What’s stopping you,” Jungkook huffs, tucking his knees to his chest, ignoring the awfully rude manner in which Seokjin nudges him away, foot against his back as if he’s just an annoying pile of cardboard boxes in his way.
“What’s wrong with you today?” Seokjin asks casually, doesn’t sit next to Jungkook on the steps because he’s always been a little too posh. According to Taehyung, Kim Seokjin graduated from some elite university in another country with near immaculate all-around player statistics before Jungkook even knew what a volleyball was. His success and fame in the world of collegiate volleyball is why he never wears the standard-issued slippers around the court, always some high-end, luxury brand. One glance slightly to his left has Jungkook meeting the black stripe of the frequently sought after Givenchy sneakers head on.
He scoffs, a sound that Seokjin doesn’t approve of if the karate chop he lands on the back of his neck is anything to go by. “Ow,” Jungkook flinches, pushing him away with an irritated sigh before eventually slumping over his knees again because it’s the exact same thing you do to him sometimes. Study nights— dates, his brain supplies now —where he begins gazing off into space are filled with numerous karate chops to the neck in an effort to get him to focus on his homework. “Come on, Jungkookie,” you always tease, playful smile, lithe fingers toying with the corners of the pages in your book in a way that was almost sensual. But then he does a double-take because he’s aware of the rose-tinted lens he’s unknowingly slapped over it, something he would have maybe not noticed pre-realization of his feelings. And even he is shocked by the absolute seductiveness his brain inserts into an otherwise innocent memory. He’s pretty sure you haven’t called him Jungkookie in years— was his brain trying to hint at something here?
Jungkook groans, knocking his head against his knees as a form of self-punishment for his lecherous thoughts concerning his best friend.
But his show of emotions must move Assistant Coach Kim because, after a moment of trying to concuss himself against his own knee, there’s a hand placed on his shoulder that makes Jungkook pause. He doesn’t even bother turning around, just throws his head back to look at Seokjin upside down. He’s got a double chin from this angle. “It’s a girl, isn’t it,” his coach sighs, looking at Jungkook with what can only be described as an unimpressed expression.
“No,” Jungkook defends even though it’s true. “Can’t I just be sad for oth—“
“I heard Jimin call you a simp on the way out,” Seokjin says rather bluntly. And then he surprises Jungkook a second time as he throws aside his posh status to sit on the dirty concrete steps beside him with a sigh. “What did you do?”
See, Jungkook could lie here and prance off to deal with his own problems. Leaving Seokjin and everyone else in the dark concerning his personal life was, honestly speaking, the smartest thing to do. He didn’t mind his volleyball teammates and friends (in this case, his coach), but he also wasn’t too fond of being relentlessly teased throughout the entire five or more hours they spent together almost every day of the week.
But also…
If what Taehyung had said is true— that being, if Kim Seokjin is the illustrious bachelor who charmed his way into multiple foreign panties all whilst demolishing the spirits of liberos and defensive specialists in another country —then Jungkook needed to capitalize off his presence immediately.
So he lays his cards out flat. “I… might’ve told my best friend I’d take her virginity,” he blurts out, turning to face Seokjin. For the most part, the older man doesn’t look too surprised. If anything, mildly amused. Jungkook quickly adds, “while also being a virgin.”
“You’re a what,” Seokjin exclaims, chokes on his own saliva in an admittedly not Casanova, bachelor-esque fashion that ends with him coughing into his elbow and Jungkook hurriedly patting his back. “You?” Seokjin repeats once he’s composed himself. “Are a— don’t you have a girlfriend?”
Jungkook’s cheeks warm. “No, Coach. I do not have a girlfriend,” he emphasizes, because who knew sharing the details of his (lack of) sex life would be this embarrassing?
Seokjin frowns. “What about that girl?” he asks, and Jungkook raises his brows. “You know the one. Carries around stacks of papers to sign, goes to all the games. The one who pats you on head all the time.” And he’s talking about you, of course he is, but the insinuation that other people might, maybe, possibly, perceive you as his girlfriend makes Jungkook malfunction.
“She’s— That’s—“ he sighs, dropping his head down until his chin touches his chest, brushed against the lucky necklace you’d given him two years ago during their first trip to Nationals. “That’s… my best friend.”
Beside him, Seokjin says, “the one you’re gonna fuck?”
Jungkook lets out a long exhale. “Yes. The one I’m going to fuck.” And it’s so blunt and crude, not that it’s surprising coming from him, but it’s surprising because he’s talking about you. Now, Jungkook was never one for romance, far from the sappy type. But why couldn’t he word it more softly, gently? He wasn’t just trying to fuck you, he was trying to… make love.
The thought must show on his face because Seokjin snorts. “Well, good luck.”
And then he stands up and begins walking down the sidewalk and Jungkook can’t spring up fast enough. “Wait,” he gasps, clutching at his forearm. He feels like a dorky character in those dramas you like so much, the ones you force him into watching every time he comes over. Like he’s some disgraced son looking for his father’s approval. Except Assistant Coach Kim is neither his father nor someone he really wants approval from anyway.
What he does want is pointers. From an experienced pro, if you will.
Jungkook has to swallow down all his pride as a man to ask his next question. “H- How do I—“
Seokjin beats to it him with a flick to the forehead. “I’m your volleyball coach, kid,” he frowns, crossing his arms over his chest. “Not your sex coach.” It’s a sensible rejection, one that Jungkook expected, but still. He deflates, let’s the weight of the world and his heavy gym bag nearly knock him onto the ground.
But Assistant Coach Kim Seokjin is kinder than he lets on and, after one annoyed sigh, let’s him in on the secret Jungkook has been chasing for all his life. (Or, well, for the past few hours since he first propositioned you.)
“The key to impressing your partner is to always act like you know what you’re doing,” he tells him, arms crossed over his shoulders. It’s night now, the campus shrouded in darkness. But Jungkook swears a heavenly light shines down on Kim Seokjin just then, a halo appearing over his head when he jabs a finger against Jungkook’s chest. “Confidence is sexy.”
“Confidence is sexy,” Jungkook repeats, feels like a kid who’s just met his favorite wrestler after years of being an avid fan, watching every match, memorizing every finishing move, collecting every figurine— it’s a little too specific but it makes sense in Jungkook’s case. You would understand this analogy perfectly, having grown alongside him during his iconic wrestling phase (before volleyball). You had indulged him in his interest, had let him practice those Do Not Try at Home moves on you again and again, even when you knew it ended with you bruised and crying, the twin pigtails you used to rock as a kid uneven and messy. But as your best friend, you had let him twist your arm and pin you to the count of three, because that’s what a good best friend did.
And as your best friend, Jungkook was gearing himself up to completely, thoroughly rock your virgin world. Because that’s what a good best friend did.

invisible string | dreamwastaken
(requested plot by red string of fate soulmate au, dream is still a streamer, reader has commitment issues, dream just wants someone to love, chat is the best wingman, sapnap and george try but they suck, reader is timid but dream makes them feel brave, taylor swift references, this is not very deep or poetic at all, i don’t like typing y/n so after this i’m going to move to ___)
listen to: invisible string by taylor swift
In kindergarten, red strings were simply a crafting tool, and teachers never mentioned how much pain they would eventually bring.
Because when they appear, from a child’s eighteenth birthday and beyond, they tighten like a godforsaken high school ring that came in one size too small. Like the universe is a child tugging their mother towards the ice cream truck, you’re pulled around central Florida, passes faces you can’t memorize and voices too garbled to hear.
The string knows where you need to go, and when.
And you’re at the park, feeding ducks and trying to ignore that incessant pull that tugs at your pinky, when you hear it.
It’s a voice you know only because it’s a voice that’s been in your house before. At least, through your brother’s tablet screen. Some gamer online — a streamer, with a distinct wheezing laugh that you’d recognize anywhere.
And you do. Behind you.
You risk a small peak, and your heart drops into your chest. He’s tall. Too tall to not intimidate you. And his sandy hair is wavy, curling at the collar of his sweatshirt, falling perfectly into place when he runs his hands through it. When he does, you see it, the red string.
Which means he could see it too. All he’d have to do is turn around.
But you’re not ready. You haven’t been, not since you watched your cousin get rejected on her eighteenth birthday. Since you watched a string of fate get clipped in front of you, like the three fates had finally had enough of your cousin’s happiness.
It was enough to make you curl into yourself, and reject the natural pull set before you. So you run, and you try not to think of what would’ve happened if he saw you before you saw him. You try not to feel the clippers, but the blade feels tangible against your skin.
You don’t stop running until you arrive home.
“Hey chat, just wanted to do a few practice runs and catch up with you guys,” Dream mumbles into the mic, already restarting his game after deciding he didn’t like his seed. The donos begin rolling in, even before Sapnap and George have unmuted, so Dream flits his eyes to the display screen, subconsciously reading along with the text-to-speech voice, “Dream, what if we shared a string of fate? Ahaha, just kidding... unless... love you bestie.”
Dream chuckles, “Actually chat, I felt a tug today! Isn’t that weird? I was actually reading up on what that could mean, and it seems like either my soulmate is in a lot of distress, or they were in my vicinity. I’m hoping, for their sake, it’s the second one. How would you even comfort a soulmate if all you can do is tug on a stupid string?”
“Simp!” George finally unmutes just to be annoying, and Dream knows soulmates are a touchy spot for him, considering he wasn’t given a string on his eighteenth. Which is strange, but not impossible. Of course, chat doesn’t know this, because it would give them more hope of becoming George’s metaphorical soulmate, but it certainly makes for awkward conversations once Dream and Sapnap get into their own soulmate bonds.
“I’m not simping, George!” Dream feels a bit defensive, because he’s genuinely just curious. He has no interest in meeting his soulmate right now. At least, that’s what he tells himself. He has his streams, and his friends, and chat. He’s fine.
[abbywastaken donated $10: dream why don’t you go back to where you felt the pull and see if you feel it again? that’s how i found my soulmate. okay luv u bye.]
“Thanks, Abby. Love you, too. Um, honestly I was in a pretty public place, so I don’t know if they would even come back anytime soon. Also, this is Orlando, right? Tourists are everywhere.”
Sapnap snorts, and Dream thinks it’s funny, since he’s in the other room. “Just say you’re a coward and go.”
“I’m not!” Dream says. “It was just a small pull, okay? It wasn’t even a big deal.”
He feels another lurch when he says that, but this one is in his chest. It taps against his heart, a quick reminder that it beats for someone else, and he needs to watch his words. “Okay, it was a big deal. Sort of. I’ll go tomorrow, okay chat?”
Chat is spamming all types of messages, from encouragement to jealousy. Dream manages to read off a few donos and create his first nether portal of the stream. He answers as they appear, eyes scanning for a fortress. “No, I didn’t see them… I’m not telling you guys where I was, that’s weird… I’m wearing a sweatshirt and jeans… Hi, Sarah and Patrick…”
He trails off as the donos do, and works at getting blaze rods. George is talking about a riddle he just learned, and he’s trying to trick Sapnap into saying something stupid.
Lost in his own thoughts, he finally closes the stream after a hasty goodbye. “What if I missed my chance?” He asks the two boys on the other line.
“It’s a string of fate, Dream,” George says. “You didn’t miss your chance.”
“Maybe they saw how ugly you are and ran away,” Sapnap says, completely joking, but the thought lingers in Dream’s head.
Did they feel the tug, and run away?
You pour cereal for yourself, and when your brother shuffles into the kitchen, you make him a bowl as well.
He’s eleven, and as little brothers go, he’s pretty chill. Aside from the inappropriate jokes and hogging the bathroom when you have to get ready for work, you like hanging around with him.
You pass him his bowl, and he grins. “I’m gonna watch Dream’s new video on the TV, since mom’s not home.”
You furrow your brows. Dream must be one of the dozens of streamers he likes. Maybe one of his friends will be in chat with him, and you will be able to connect a voice to a face. “Can I sit with you?”
He gives you an odd look, and it’s true, you don’t ask to watch videos with him often. “I guess.”
You eat a spoonful of cereal and settle into the couch while he gets everything ready. He clicks on a lime green icon of a little white blob man, and when the first video appears, you’re taken aback by the voice.
That’s the voice you heard. It’s this one, out of all the random men yelling about a block game. It’s Dream.
“Why doesn’t he show his face?” You manage, wanting information about the person that shares your string.
“What?”
“Like, he’s handsome, right? Why doesn’t he have a facecam?”
Your brother snorts. “Handsome? He’s never shown his face, Y/n. Don’t you know who Dream is? He’s like, super famous.”
“Oh.” You think of his golden hair, as sunny and soft as the glow around his entire being. His voice right now, joyous as he gets chased by his friends. “I mean, I don’t keep up with streamers.”
He begins to explain Dream and his friends, along with lore in their role play server, and it’s all interesting enough that you sit and listen, holding on to the little bits of information you can collect about your soulmate.
You file these facts in a secluded corner of your brain and try to make a whole person, along with the hair and the laugh and the intense music he plays as he gets hunted by his friends.
By nightfall, you’re following all of his socials and binge-watching his old streams, holding on to the way he speaks to his friends, and the fond way he replies to donos.
[dreamwastaken is live!]
You click on it, bundled underneath your covers as if someone might see you and find out your secret.
“Hi, chat! I know I was just live yesterday, but I cut it too short and wanted to come talk to you guys.”
He uses his avatar to wave at the screen, and it’s kind of an adorable sight.
[gogysimp donated $25: did you go see your soulmate?]
Your heart stops. Does he know? Did he see you? Or even worse, has he already found someone else, and he just hasn’t severed the tie?
“No!” Dream’s laugh pulls you out of your worries. “I was busy with meetings today, actually. And I was too nervous. Sapnap also refused to come with me, so I’m just going to go another day.”
So he didn’t see you. He just knows you were there.
You click the donate tab before you can stop yourself.
[y/n donated $1: would you reject your soulmate if you didn’t like them?]
Dream mumbles the question, and you try to ignore the way your heart deflates when he skips saying your name. “I don’t think so,” he states plainly. “I mean, logically, a soulmate would be your other half, so I wouldn’t not like them. But I know some people just don’t click, or there are other issues. So, I don’t know. I guess the only thing I can say is that I don’t want to reject them. And I hope they don’t reject me. I mean, imagine finding out your soulmate is a Minecraft Youtuber. That would be pretty weird…”
You giggle to yourself as he trails off and answers another donation. So he’s against rejection. Okay. Maybe you have a chance.
[kyra donated $60: i’m your soulmate.]
“Meet me where you felt the tug, then,” Dream says sassily. “Chat, don’t be weird, okay? I can’t control who my soulmate is, and I don’t want you guys to exclude them if they become a pat of my life.”
Oh, you think. So his chat is vocal about their opinions, and apparently they mean a lot to him. You shiver despite your warm position and imagine how annoying you might seem to his loyal viewers: someone who only knew about him because of their brother.
Insecurity pushes against your chest, so you close the stream and push your phone away, hoping to forget this ever happened, that maybe you won’t have to deal with the inevitable if you don’t think about it.
Yogurt Barn isn’t the first place on your list of dream jobs, but it has decent pay and helps you pay off student loans, so you appreciate it nonetheless. The teal sweatshirt they gave you as a uniform keeps you warm as you scoop the frozen treats.
Your coworker, a girl named Madison, is busy manning the counter, so you check each flavor and refill the ones running empty.
“Can I ask you a question?” Madison met her soulmate, Anna, only days after she got her string. It was a textbook romance, two people meant for each other, no doubt in anyone’s mind. She might be able to help you now. That is, if you can even admit to who your soulmate is.
“What’s up?”
“I felt the tug,” you say, avoiding her eyes in favor of restacking the medium cups.
“No way!” Madison is perky in a way that makes you want to be included. You like this about her. “Did you see them? Did you talk to them?”
“He—” You want to say that the part of him you saw was perfect, enough to keep you up when you should be dreaming. But reality is nothing if not disappointing. “I ran.”
“Y/n…” Madison gives you a stern look — like a mother finding out their child didn’t defrost the chicken in time. “Why would you run?”
“I don’t want to be rejected.” The magenta swirls painted onto the walls are a stark change to the clay sidewalks of the strip mall. “And before you say he wouldn’t… It’s happened to my cousin. It’s possible.”
Madison frowns. “But that can’t be the only reason, right? I mean, we all know someone who has been rejected. It’s usually not the end of the world for them.”
“He’s a famous streamer,” you blurt, and you’re thankful the shop is as empty as it is. Just the words themselves sound fake.
Madison snorts. “Like, gaming? That’s what’s holding you back? He’s a gamer?”
“I don’t care that he’s a gamer!” You hiss. “I care that he has a loyal fanbase who more than likely all want to be his soulmate!”
“You can’t say that for certain,” Madison says. “I mean, everyone knows about the soulmate system. If you watch someone and don’t feel the pull, you know they aren’t your soulmate, right? So why wouldn’t they accept you?”
“I don’t know,” you say. “I’m just scared. I mean, he’s got this huge following and everything and I’m just me. I work in a yogurt shop for goodness’ sake.”
You head into the back to grab more cups, and the bell rings, signaling a new customer.
“Welcome to Yogurt Barn, what can I get for you?” Madison’s customer service voice pricks your ears.
You sift through the boxes to find the smaller cups and listen to the customer’s order. “Can I have a strawberry cone?”
Your string pulls, that same familiar voice filling your head, not on the screen but once again just a few feet away. He’s infiltrating your life, so close you could reach out and touch him, but it’s such a terrifying thought that you set down the cups.
You tear off your apron, and run into the break room to grab a water and calm yourself down.
It’s ten minutes before Madison comes back to find you. “Hey, are you okay? You disappeared.”
You take a deep breath and stare at the poster on the wall. It’s brightly colored, with a walking yogurt cup waving and reminding employees to wash their hands before scooping. “That was him. The guy— the pull— Dream— I can’t— Does he know? Is he following me?”
“It’s okay,” Madison runs her hand down your back. “It’s okay. He isn’t following you. When the pull starts it tends to draw the couple together until they meet. He probably doesn’t know it’s you.”
You nod and take your breaths in gulps. “Okay. Yeah, you’re right. You’re right.”
“Why don’t you go home early, okay?”
Dream is live again.
Fresh out of the shower, you pull a t-shirt over your body and burrow into your blankets. Earbuds in, you try to focus on the sound of his voice, ignoring every ounce of anxiety that’s been riddling your mind.
“Hi, chat. I’m gonna practice speed runs again. I think George is joining soon.”
You open the chat and scroll through the emotes, clicking the ones you like and sending them, just to calm yourself down.
[kylo donated $5: did you find your soulmate?]
Dream laughs. The sound makes your chest tighten with longing. Your fingers ache. “Actually, I went to the place I felt the pull again. I dunno what I was expecting, but they didn’t show up. But after that, I was running some errands and I felt it, chat! I felt the pull again.”
He trails off while his character starts to look for a lava pool. “I feel discouraged but I don’t want to like, chase them, you know? I don’t want to scare them off.”
You click the donation tab again.
[y/n donated $1: maybe your soulmate heard your voice and got scared of you because they watch your videos.]
It’s not the total truth, but it might help him sleep better. You don’t want him to feel discouraged, but you can’t bring yourself to follow the pull.
“That could be a possibility…” Dream crafts a portal and sends his character through. “But I wish I could talk to them. I wish I could tell them that it’s okay. Like, we don’t have to rush into anything.”
[y/n donated $1: They probably wish they could talk to you too]
“Thanks, Y/n.” He sucks in a breath as soon as he says your name. The Minecraft pause screen appears and the sound of a discord call can be heard.
Your heart pounds in your chest. Something about him saying your name just solidified everything. Your arms feel hot and cold all at once, like you’ve just been thrown in a frozen lake. He has to be feeling it too.
“Chat, I gotta go, okay? I’ll try to stream again soon.”
“Hello?” A sleepy voice comes in through Dream’s earbuds.
“George! Their name is Y/n!” Dream is so excited, his voice raising a few octaves as he talks. “Someone donated with that name and I felt like, super weird. I didn’t feel it until I said the name out loud.”
“That’s crazy,” George says, monotone but supportive. “Do you think the dono is actually them?”
“I don’t know,” Dream scrolls through their past donos and quickly screenshots each one. “I mean, they definitely could be.”
He shares the pictures in their group chat.
George hums. “It sounds like they’re trying to tell you how they feel without admitting that it’s them. Where did you say you felt a pull?”
“At the park, and at the yogurt shop down the road.”
“So go there again. Maybe all they need is a little courage. If you feel the pull this time, you should follow it.”
Dream thinks about it for a moment before finally agreeing. He changes the subject to their next jackbox stream, and George is now happily talking about how they’re going to team up against Sapnap.
He goes into Sapnap’s room that night. He sits on his desk chair while Sapnap sits cross legged on his bed, scrolling through his phone. “Do you wanna get frozen yogurt tomorrow? My treat.”
“Hell yeah!”
The new strawberry-lemonade custard is a hit. Not only are the colors aesthetically pleasing for the teenagers who want a nice snapchat story, but there was a promotional coupon in the mail that has people lining up to the door.
“It’s not even that good,” you tell Madison while the two of you are on break. You’re both using a sample spoon to try out the new summer flavors, and in your opinion, strawberry-lemonade isn’t even the best one. “Blood orange is better.”
Madison wrinkles her nose. “No, blue raspberry is best.”
“It’s sour, though,” you say.
“Guys! Break’s over and you’ve got a line!” Your manager stares disapprovingly at the cups of custard the both of you are indulging in.
“We’re coming.” You toss the cup into the trash and walk out, scratching at the sudden itch on your pinky finger.
Pulling on your gloves, you grab a scoop and address the first customer, “Welcome to Yogurt Barn.”
“Hi!”
You still like you’ve been caught stealing on camera. You look up, hand clutching the scoop so tightly you can feel the cold steel through your gloves.
It’s Dream.
It’s him. He’s tall, and his hair is a sunshine blond, dark at the roots and curling beneath his ears. And his freckles… little spots all across his cheeks so endearing that you get a little distracted staring at them.
Then he’s talking, and you have to focus on his jade-green eyes, not his lips, which are a warm pink. “It’s you.”
You blink. Fear strikes your spine and you drop the scoop. “I gotta go.”
“Wait!” Dream calls, just as Madison shouts your name.
You exit out the back door again. Your heart is pounding against your chest, ribs expanding, and all you can hear is the sound of your name coming out of his lips, just last night through a screen.
“Y/n?” Only it’s in front of you, a few feet away, and he’s searching your eyes for any reassurance that you won’t run away again. That you won’t reject him. “That’s your name right?” He keeps talking, a nervous smile flitting across his face. “The donos? That was you?”
You can see the string now, red and blaring, tightening with each step Dream takes. It’s signing off your fate, for better or for worse, and you can’t fathom why he’s trying so hard, why he cares so much.
It’s hot in Florida but you feel cold, chilled to the bone. You straighten up. You figure you owe it to him to look up in the eye.
He leaves you breathless, eyes shining in the sun. “It was me,” you say. “You’re Dream.”
“Clay, actually,” he says. His smile widens, and it’s magnificently bold. He’s triumphant, just from your reply, and that alone gives you the slightest bit of hope.
“Clay,” you say. “I’m— I’m not— I don’t know if I’m ready.”
“You don’t have to be.” Clay is quick to reply, hands open and palms up. It’s a complete surrender — putting it all in your hands. “We don’t have to announce it. We don’t have to be anything at all, if you need time. But I would like to be your friend. If— If that’s okay.”
But you want to be close to him. The draw of your strings pulling each other closer and closer makes you want to wrap your arms around him. If he hasn’t rejected you, maybe you can do this. “I– I want to be more than friends, but I’m terrified of you rejecting me. I’m afraid of the string getting cut.”
Clay set his brows, “I won’t let that happen. We’re connected. Fate, ya know?”
“Yeah,” you breathe, and it’s a sigh of relief. “Okay. Maybe I’ll give you my number?”
“I’ll give you mine!” Clay is animated, holding out his hand for your phone. “That way you can text me when you’re ready.”
The red string shines like gold in the Florida sun, and when your fingertips brush, it burns with a satisfying warmth.

you!
pairing: miya atsumu x fem!reader genre: fluff, an atsumu and reader meet cute!! word count: 2.1k warnings: light cursing synopsis: atsumu may or may not have developed a tiny crush on karasuno’s substitute manager.
requested by anon <3 aah i’m so sorry i kind of changed the plot slightly :))
special thanks to maddie @prettysetterakaashi for the beta <3
LISTEN TO: all about you - nct u
the first time you meet miya atsumu, he is seventeen, wearing his number seven jersey, and so ready to whoop your team’s (and, really, anyone else’s) ass.
the arena is much bigger than you had dreamed - much like the ones you’d seen on television - like the sendai gymnasium, but multiply it by four. it’s loud, overwhelming, and teeming of air-tight pressure. you swear you could almost hear it: the wavering heartbeats, the rolling cameras, the competitive atmosphere.
maybe you had overdressed just a little bit. turned your tracksuit into a stylish oversized-padded-jacket-baggy-pants-tight-shirt situation. (you absolutely blushed when kiyoko said you were pretty today.)
out of the crowd of volleyball players gathered before the opening ceremony, you spot a faux blonde tuft of hair and a loud voice accompanying it. he nags at one of his teammates as he stuffs his coat in his bag.
broad back. sloped shoulders. the number seven.
“say, is that inarizaki’s setter you talked about from camp?” slightly motioning to the side, you ask your fellow first-year, kageyama tobio.
kageyama nods sharply, “yes. why?”
“yachi told me that if we win the first match, we’ll be up against them. i heard they were runner ups for the last interhigh,” you mutter, “whew, scary.”
and extremely handsome, you want to say.
there’s a pause, and you continue, “i mean, not that we’re guaranteed to win the first match anyways. it’s nationals...”
kageyama shrugs at your statement, “it’s nationals.”
you remember yachi had told you to have faith in the boys.
so when you heard the whistle on game point announcing karasuno’s victory on the first round, you couldn’t help but mumble an ‘i knew it’ under your breath by the bleachers.
but as you cheered, yellow water bottles in hand, voice an octave higher, you swore you felt a pair of eyes that ogled at you from the second floor.
your senses were correct - miya atsumu was wondering what kind of volleyball team had someone as cute as you in all of japan.
“eyes on their plays, not the managers.” miya osamu’s hand lands square on his twin’s back, earning a surprise yelp in response.
“they’re not even playing anymore! they just won!” atsumu gestures dramatically, but he keeps looking your way.
“well ya better keep yer eyes on the ball tomorrow-”
“-and YOU need ‘ta jump higher for our new quicks.”
osamu sighs, and as they hear their coach calling them down, the two leave the second floor balcony in rare silence. he figures his brother might have developed a little crush on karasuno’s substitute manager. it was always common for his brother to develop some kind of attraction to someone from somewhere far, yet the way atsumu’s staring so intently has him thinking he might actually want to do something about you.
“you’re weird,” osamu snickers.
atsumu furrows his brows in joking offence. “-isn’t that, like, rude?”
atsumu wasn’t, isn’t, and will never be the kind of guy who loses sight of the ball. ever.
he reckons his peripheral vision has widened for this match and this match only, seeing as he feels an extra pair of eyes on him.
for some reason, he feels the need to play around a bit more today.
his sets vary even more in tempo, he’s spiked more than usual, and he can’t stop moving. it doesn’t help either that inarizaki’s ten-point lead in the second set only fuels his playtime. anything to rack up some more points.
although he’s stuck with jump floaters, he thinks flipping off karasuno’s super libero is almost enough to make up for his lack of jump serves, so he savours every time he’s in the back right, ready to serve.
he doesn’t mind the gasps that come out of your mouth when he lands a service ace, either.
and as the set point goes to inarizaki with a lead that just seemed so right, atsumu promises himself to come up to you once inarizaki wins.
he knows he’s going to win.
his shoes feel light on the rubber floor, like he could squat down and bend back and jump up all he wants. his muscles are working hard, and his senses are on point.
when he looks around, seeing the teammates he knows can catch his sets and karasuno preparing their defense, his eyes instead flutter to you, in the corner on the benches, holding desperately onto two yellow water bottles. you’re wearing a normal tracksuit this time, but he still thinks it’s cute.
he tries not to think of you between rallies. not about how he’d like to see you cheer for him when he crushes your team. not about how he’s found the perfect dinner spot near the gymnasium to take you out to after the win. not about the satisfaction he’ll feel after seeing little tobio’s defeat and your hand in his. (assuming that a first date involves holding hands - atsumu’s never been on one.)
so, with only the third set left to win, atsumu doesn’t bother asking what could go wrong. because he knows to make sure that nothing, nothing at all, will result in a loss for inarizaki.
oh, how he was wrong.
when karasuno’s frustratingly good first year duo blocks his ball and sends it plummeting to the edge of the court, atsumu knows that the whistle that follows means that this might even be the last time he sees you this year - and what if you’re not at nationals next year?
the sting of losing comes first as the usual shaking hands and lining up to bow commences after the game, and as he says some last words to his teammates and school, he catches sight of you hugging the team’s other beautiful manager. you have tears of joy threatening to fall out of the corners of your eyes, and he admits you look precious with the edges of your mouth upturned and your cheekbones raised in a victorious smile.
he wants to see you like this with him. although he doesn’t know you at all, he doesn’t want to miss you; yet he can’t pinpoint why.
so after calling to hinata and telling him he’ll “set for him someday” (it was half-spite and half-promise, but it came out as a threat), atsumu’s gaze fixes on the back of the other side of the court at the benches where you are.
“‘tsumu, let’s go,” osamu calls back at him, and it brings him back to reality.
except reality’s a loss where he doesn’t get to see you in his life ever again. and though he’ll accept the outcome of a national-level volleyball match, he knows he can do something to at least catch up with you - he’s still got a few days in tokyo, after all.
“ah screw it!” atsumu mumbles to himself, and begins to suck up his pride. what he’s about to do will be either extremely embarrassing or extremely endearing, he thinks.
he walks up to the karasuno bench where you’re at the side, packing up the water bottles in a duffle bag to carry. you’re squatting down, unseeing of him, until there are a few footsteps and the feeling of a person behind you. you turn around, and it makes you stand up quickly.
you look at the setter, bleached hair untoned and face oddly satisfying to look at. you had paid a little too much attention to him during the opening ceremony, and though you had suppressed the knowledge of his ogling at you from yesterday, you can’t help but feel your attraction to the setter worsen with him right in front of you.
“you. meet me at the entrance,” atsumu invites, and though his face is obviously burning red, something about his words make your heart pump a little too fast.
it doesn’t take much contemplation to figure out your answer is yes. yet, somehow, saying yes while your heart suddenly changes its pace takes a little bit more time than you thought.
you’re about to reply when you see osamu call his brother loudly, making atsumu’s eyes go wide in embarrassment. you stifle a laugh, and you give him a subtle nod, though judging by the way he runs like he’s chasing an out-of-bounds ball, you reckon he might not have seen you.
again, you’re correct - atsumu thinks he’s just witnessed his own death, running fast at one of his only attempts at ever asking someone out.
how does one ask someone out? is it, like, ‘hey, wanna go on a date’? or is it, like, ‘hey i like you and i think you’re pretty and i tried to find you on instagram but i don’t know your name’? he agrees with himself that it’s safer to say the former.
atsumu is pulled back to his team, embarrassment seeping through his senses from his asking out on top of that familiar sting of losing. he changes into his sweatpants and jacket in silence, backpack worn tightly around his shoulders as the rest of the team walks through the venue.
“'samu, have you ever been turned down by a girl?” atsumu tries his best not to sound like he’s sulking (he is).
osamu hums, “what did you do to karasuno’s manager?”
“ugh, not telling.”
meanwhile, burning excitement and far-fetched fantasies finally hit you.
your heart now beats fast - maybe not as fast as when karasuno had anticipated atsumu’s serve, but still fast - and you’re not sure what kinds of chances you’ll get in the future.
there is an internal debate: there’s no denying the mutual attraction, so why stop? you want to tell yourself that nationals is for volleyball and for you to fill in for your friend yachi, but his words repeat themselves in your head, and it’s only mere seconds that pass before you know exactly what to do.
you come up to kiyoko, and she replies with a kind hum. you ask, “can i go... uh, buy some souvenirs real quick? i’ll bring this bag with the water bottles with me.”
she looks around first, “ah, how long will you be gone?”
“not long.”
“well, the boys are going to change, so, alright. don’t get lost, okay?”
“okay!” your feet bring you out of the court area, and into the maze of the gymnasium. (you have no idea where you’re going.)
it makes you think; is this all worth it for the stranger miya atsumu? maybe. maybe not. but you’ve gotten the chance - might as well take it.
there are things you whisper to yourself as you run around the foyer, unsure of which entrance he’d be most likely to meet you in, so you end up running to all of them. there are around five entrances total.
“this is so stupid,” is one of the things you whisper to yourself.
“he’s not even that cute,” is another.
“why couldn’t he just ask me out normally?” a sigh at the second entrance.
“ugh, but he’s... so good at volleyball,” a remark at the third entrance.
and finally, at the fifth entrance all the way at the back, “you!”
that is when you spot that familiar tuft of untoned bleached hair, swept to the left, his maroon club jacket replacing his jersey. you hope you’re not seeing a mirage, seeing as he hadn’t looked back when you first exclaimed of your presence.
your voice is louder and more embarrassing than his, “miya atsumu!”
now he looks.
now he turns red.
you see his brother osamu with some kind of amused grin as you grab onto the setter’s club jacket, dragging him somewhere. you mumble an ‘excuse me’ to his brother, and he surprisingly nods.
when you drag atsumu into a secluded corner still inside the venue, his face is bright red like you remember it. you let go of his arm, and it makes you cringe to see how you had literally just pulled japan’s number one high school setter by his sleeve.
“what was that?” atsumu fixes his bag. he tries to hide his incoming grin.
“you- you told me to meet you at the entrance,” you fumble with the ends of your jacket, “so i did.”
“huh,” atsumu mutters, matter-of-factly. he sounds amused. he looks at you with a smile. “i’m glad.”
there’s a silence as he offers to carry your bag. you let him.
“i know this place near this venue, do you- do you want to go there sometime?”
your ears perk up - it’s exactly what you want to hear. now, there is no contemplation.
you inhale. “yeah. i would like that.”
atsumu takes a deep breath, and he smiles like a happy child. you tell him your full name, and he tells you his, even though he knows you already know it.
it turns out, the first time you really meet miya atsumu, he is seventeen, wearing his dishevelled maroon club jacket, and so not ready to miss you.
and thank god; he was definitely going to see you again.

Submitted by @twitchyglitchy: don't know if you meant submit as in send something to submit or to just wait for the askbox to open back up but when you get the time perhaps #41 with fatherly Sun Wukong and MK?
--------------------
Sorry, I was opening up the inbox again but then I walked away to get a snack, and then three people submitted this way. So sorry! XD
I think this could be considered the unofficial prequel to THIS and THIS Explains how MK got sick
prompt list
Blurred Lines
Rated: G
Wukong held out his hand a few drops of rain starting to fall against the palm of his paw. He looks up with a frown, the sky's overhead grey with the promise of rain. Judging by how dark the clouds have become in such a short time looks like they were in for a downpour.
He opens his mouth to tell MK their training was over for the day but found he was having to dodge a staff hurtling towards him. Apparently, the kid had not noticed the rain yet or was looking to take advantage of how distracted he was for an easy win.
He smirks shifting to one foot easily, completely dodging the attack, MK expected the blow to land and found when it didn't his balance was off. That was something they really needed stonework on, his balance. It's like MK was compensating for missing weight in his body, he wonders if maybe if MK grew a tail that problem would magically resolve itself.
MK topless forward onto his face and rolls a few feet, till he's laying on his back with a groan.
Monkey king saunters over to the boy a few more drops of rain hitting his fur as he walks.
"Good job today, I think we need to work on your balance though." He offers a hand out to MK who smacks it away and stands up on his own with a grunt. That.. .was unusual. The boy always had a pretty good attitude even when he lost. Never a sore loser when they sparred.
"Again." MK grunts our whipping his nose off on his sleeve with a determined look. The sky above them rumbles with a warning and Wukong's face twists down in a frown. Something was brewing and it wasn't just the storm.
"Let's call it a night kid. It's gonna rain soon." A few more drops fall against his fur and face and MK shakes his head back and forth, droplets flying from his hair. No way the kid didn't notice.
"No we can train a bit longer, rain never killed anyone." He smiles, already taking a challenging stance. Wukong crosses his arms over his chest and feels a tail-flick behind him.
"Not a chance. We're done for today."
MK lets out a sigh and leans against his staff side-eyeing him.
"Hmmm...never thought the great monkey king was afraid of a little water." MK smirks and Wukong stiffens under the jab. His fur bristled under his insulted pride and he smirks back at MK with his tail swishing behind him annoyedly.
"Fine. Smartass. We can keep training but don't come crying to me when the heavens open up." His eyebrow twitches, taking up a defensive stance ready for whatever the boy would throw at him.
Almost as if on cue, the sky opens up and it's a downpour. He opens his mouth to tell MK they couldn't train in this but MK is rushing forward with a war cry on his lips Wukong barely has any time to react dodging and blocking a flurry of blows.
"Mk stop! It's pouring!" He tries to reason with MK who only steps forward into a strike, Wukong barely has time to grab the staff, halting it from bashing his face in. He didn't want to do this, he always goes easy on MK so they could slowly build up to his level, but at this point, the boy wouldn't listen to reason.
He grabs the staff and digs his heel into the ear and shifts his weight. He flips MK over his body slamming them hard into the earth..he hears MK let out a gasp of pain and he worries he's actually hurt the boy.
"Kid oh my gosh! Are you ok-" he reaches for MK who looks stunned on his back looking up at the sky with wide eyes, water dripping down his face and mixing with the earth.
"You have been...holding back on me" MK whispers out his face scrunching up in what could only be described as pain and betrayal. He sits up with anger on his face
"You don't even use all your strength on me??!!!" He yells at Wukong who's now getting a turn to be stunned.
"Well...of course not bud. I don't want to hurt you." He looks soaked to the bone now shivering, his hair hangs limp while his clothes stick to his body.
"That's not fair!!! How can I get stronger if you aren't even trying to train me!" He yells shivering again. Even Wukong could feel the rain soaking his fur and making his clothes heavier.
"Come on MK….I'm doing my best to train you."
Wrong choice of words.
MK's face becomes vacant and broken. Tears now pouring down his cheeks and mixing with the rain.
"What, so you're saying it's MY fault?? That I'm u-untrainable??!" He yells, gripping his hair and tugs.
"That you're doing your best because it's so hard to train me? Cause I'm a failure??" Thunder cracks after a flash of light only serves to illuminate the look of betrayal carved into MKs face.
"Kid stop!" He grabs the boy by his shoulders trying to stop him from spiraling.
"You're doing AMAZING. Your progressing faster than I did at your age. But you GOT to keep in mind that it takes time to get where I'm at." MK sniffs his lip warbling and Wukong grabs his hands to squeeze it reassuringly.
They are shaking like a leaf and are ice cold in his grip.
“Your hands are so cold!" He rubs them together between his paws trying to warm them up. He brings the hands to his mouth breathing hot air into them. It seemed content productive with them standing in the rain.
"Come on. Let's get you inside and dried off, you will catch your death out here." MK nods numbly and Wukong leads him indoors to his stone house where a few monkeys have already holed themselves up for the storm. They chitter and shrieks of concern from the monkeys greet his ears as they fret over both their king and their quote-unquote 'brother'.
Wukong ushers MK to his bathroom where he throws a towel over Their head and tries to absorb all the water that his mop of a head consumed. MK just stands limp allowing him to dry his hair. It's concerning that he hasn't even let out a squeak since they came inside.
"MK…." He pulls the towel away to look at their face. Indoors now, out of the pelting rain, it's so much harder for MK to hide his tears. His cheeks are puffed out and his eyes are red as a constant stream drips down his face and chin adding to the puddle on the floor steadily.
“I just want to do better….be strong like you.” MK’s eyes flit to wukong guilty before looking away to his soaked shoes. It shoves a wedge between Wukongs ribs painfully and presses upward threatening to separate ribs from the flesh.
"Look at me." Wukong titles his chin up forcing Expresso's eyes to look at him.
"You're doing amazing. I want you to know that. Every day you surprise me who how much you have learned. " He explains and he sees the boy's chest hitch slightly another batch of tears joining his.
"I'm very proud of how far you have come." He smiles at the boy whose lip warbles again. A sopping wet body slaps into his as ML throws his arms around his chest and buries his face into his wet clothes. At first, Wukong has no idea how to react, his arms hovering over the wet form but when MK squeezes him tighter he is prompted to wrap his own arms around the boy. He runs his fingers through the wet locks and tries to warm them up with his body. Subconsciously hai tail finds MK's ankle and wraps around it as if he was trying to get every possible grip he could on the boy. He lets out a soothing purr on his chest as if he's coddling his own child instead of his successor.
At this point how could you tell the difference?
The line has been slowly blurred over time like rain against sidewalk chalk to the point he had no idea where he stood on which side.
At this point he couldn't be bothered to care. Which terrified him.
He pulls away eventually but his tail remains around MK's ankle.
"You should head home, you need to change out of your wet clothes so you don't catch a cold. Okay?" He asked, offering a lazy smile to MK who seemed marginally better and lips quirked with a shy smile.
"Okay. Can we still train again tomorrow?" They asked sheepishly and Wukong ruffles the top of his head
"Sure can bud! Bring your A-game because you moved up a level tonight and it's gonna be a bit harder." He smirks again and his words only seem to encourage. MK smiles brightly now, eyes shining with the promise of more difficult training.
"Can't wait!" He beams pulling away already and shakes like a dog adding more excess water to his bathroom floor.
"Okay okay, that's enough. Get on outta here. And take care of yourself."
MK salutes as he backs away from his mentor..
"Sure thing!"
Wukong walks him to the door his tail only letting go of the boy's ankle when he finally is driving away on his noodle cart. He waves to the boy something warm newly sprouted in his chest. The line between mentor and father figure blurring a little more

Say My Name and I’ll Be There: 9.1
Author’s Note: Short chapter. My anxiety has gotten really bad and I’m busy so I could use some virtual hugs haha
"You dared to deceive an archon?"
The bellow hung heavy in the morning air, but Childe didn't flinch. "Oh? If my memory serves me correctly, you were all for my plan." A slight excitement rushed within his chest at the thought of the possibility of fighting an archon today. The joy he would feel! To have the privilege of testing his strength against a former god--
"Don't play games with me," Zhongli growled, his infuriated gaze sliding to the brat that was more than amused at his ill-composed state. Archons, the consultant was trying so hard not to summon a meteor this instant--something his past self would've done without a moment of hesitation. "You nearly--"
"I never claimed to be one of the good guys, sensei."
Zhongli bit the inside of his lip until he drew blood and his eyes glowed a threatening yellow that was far too similar to the Exuvia. He so desperately wanted to run Childe into the ground, to pummel him with the same spears that defeated Osial himself. To do so would mean the complete and utter destruction of the harbor that sat below them, as they were on the hill behind the Liyue Qixing's headquarters. The sun beat down on them harshly as if to mirror Zhongli's rage.
"I have my own agenda to fulfill, in the end." Something somewhat apologetic flashed in the harbinger's eyes before he looked out to the vast sea, still unflinching from Zhongli's threatening aura.
"You have broken a contract. A breach in trust. Do you know what this means for you?" I'll end him right here. As a cost for the Tsaritsa to pay for breaching--No. Zhongli took a deep breath to quell the raging tides of fury that swirled in his being. No. The Tsaritsa broke no contract. I willingly gave Xiao after being played like a fool by Childe. That's right. Anger consumes all rational thought; Zhongli could not allow himself to make the same mistakes. To do so would surely destroy any concept of safety for you and Xiao.
"I will fight to the death if you see it fit, Mr. Zhongli." The corner of his lips curled slightly upwards after hearing the anger in the consultant's voice, but they downturned again as he turned to face the man. "But, as I see it, I have learned from that...experience in Fontaine."
Zhongli's hard gaze remained unwavering as stone.
"Mezzetin..." Childe returned to his view of the ocean. "...has been in too dark of a place as of late. I had deceived you in an effort to protect her from your yaksha; his presence seemed to have too negative of an impact on her. So I thought, for her benefit, I would recruit her into the Fatui for her own safety. From Xiao, and from the unrelenting forces of Snezhnaya. She wouldn't have to live in fear of us as long as she was with us.
"But then another side effect showed up and I realized I had made a mistake for deceiving you, Mr. Zhongli. I was mistaken to think that the yaksha was the problem instead of the distance between the pair. That, dear sensei, is why I brought her here for the Lantern Rite."
While he's speaking from the heart, he is still being untruthful. The archon stood unmoving, rage reigniting a little until a memory of Guizhong flashed in his mind. He wouldn't bring her to Liyue without another motive.
"I'm speaking honestly, Mr. Zhongli." Childe didn't even hold his signature smile across his lips; he was dead serious. "While this excursion most definitely benefits the Tsaritsa, I only brought Mezzetin for her own wellbeing."
Zhongli still wasn't buying it, and he approached Childe until he was at his ear. His low voice had to have dropped an octave lower while he maintained his composed but threatening demeanor. "The next time you cross me or seek to harm those in our group, you will join Osial below Guyun Stone Forest."
The threat was enough to send a slight chill down Childe's spine, as reluctant as he would admit it, but the harbinger grinned darkly nonetheless. After all, how could a measly chill overpower the thrill of battle he always got? It egged him on, but...he did consider Zhongli a comrade more than a means to an end for the Tsaritsa. One that he didn't want to lose, even if he was still pissed that the consultant had deceived him for being a human and not the Lord of Geo.
The archon began to brush past Childe, when the harbinger gripped his shoulder to keep him in place. "Mark my words, Mr. Zhongli. When the time comes, you will be relying on me once more."
What? Zhongli rotated his head, but Childe had already let go of his shoulder and started to walk off. He would've perceived the statement as the threat that it was, if it weren't for the different fluctuations in Childe's voice. Was that melancholy he sensed? Guilt? Uncertainty? Zhongli narrowed his eyes as he watched the harbinger scale off the mountain with his glider.
Perhaps that was enough to get through to him, Childe thought to himself without peering over his shoulder. He didn't dare say too much. The Tsaritsa will get what she needs for her war; what's it to her if he moves a few chess pieces across the board himself? This is the only time he would ever allow to make such a daring exception. As long as you and Aether didn't try to intervene down the line, then maybe he could bring you freedom...
That was a cry for help, Zhongli found himself dumb-founded. Childe's figure was now a spec in the distance and near touchdown in the plaza.
.......................
"Will you two cut it out already?!" You had thought that the subject had long passed, but apparently Aether had no mercy teasing you as he had always teased Paimon. "We didn't do anything! How many times do I have to say that?" You drew a deep breath to keep up with your mouth. "Or do I have to whack it into you?!"
"Hm, dunno, Paimon thinks denial is even more suspicious than silence!"
"Ugh, why did you have to go and say we 'slept together...'" Your head dropped into your hands in an exasperated manner, eyebrows furrowing together with the threat of an impending headache.
"Mortals make too large of a fuss over such trivial matters. It was really nothing," Xiao scoffed at the traveler and the weird floating thing he still couldn't figure out. It was then that he remembered your odd behavior in bed this morning, and how you were exhibiting the same redness now. "Though...I do have a few questions. Why do humans flush red at the most random of times?"
"EH?!" Your hand instinctually flew to his mouth, nearly covering up--except the yaksha caught your wrist before you had the chance to prevent him from saying anything else that could be perceived the wrong way. "What are you--?! Just stop talking!"
"Like now," Xiao noted aloud, completely oblivious to the dumb-founded shock--or what could've been exasperated horror--on Aether's and Paimon's faces.
"Think of it as a defense mechanism," Childe approached the group, completely lacking the tension from earlier. "Or as an indicator for lying."
"'Lying?'" Xiao looked unconvinced as his eyes met yours. You definitely didn't flush red when lying.
"Well, in some settings," Childe let out a chuckle before plopping his hand atop your head. It wouldn't be inaccurate to think that Xiao nearly summoned his weapon and thought of slicing his hand off right then and there. "Are you ready to go?"
"Go? But you said tomorrow." Lips pursed into an irritated pout as you turned to face him, nonchalantly pushing his hand off of you in the process. "And Zhongli said something about a possible del-"
"The matter is settled." Was it just you, or was his smile a little strained?
"And if we don't let you take her back?" Aether stepped forward. A few pedestrians glanced his way while passing the group.
"Oh? Is this your way of asking me for a fight? I'd be happy to humor you."
"You can't take all three of us at once," the boy took another step forward, this time lowering his stance as if he were ready to lunge at the harbinger. Paimon egged him on.
"Will you two stop with this macho contest?" Your growl seemed to snap them out of it. "No one is fighting. I left with the harbingers to prevent that from happening."
"If the lady insists." Child winked at Aether, who scoffed in turn. Then he faced you once more. "As for the sudden change in our depart, I simply changed my mind. Meet at the Northland Bank. You have one hour."
.....................
"One hour?!?!" You were still fuming over the smug smile that had tugged at the corner of Childe's lips after the three of you parted from him. "What...What am I supposed to do in an hour?! I swear I'm gonna--"
"Paimon thinks we should take him out now!"
"Why are you so bloodthirsty when it comes to Childe?" Aether reminded her to keep her voice down, suddenly conscious of the stares you were all getting.
"Why aren't you? He's lied to us, hurt us, and now he's hurting our friends! Paimon simply can't accept that!"
Aether had long since tuned Paimon's voice out and was focused on you and Xiao instead. The lack of eye contact between the two of you made it blatantly obvious there were some things to discuss privately. "We'll let you have some alone time."
"Huh? Why're you leaving?" You spun on your heel with a confused expression, whirling to a stop once you faced the boy. "Shouldn't we all be together before I--"
"You'd rather not be alone with your boyfriend before you leave?" A confused, innocent tilt of the head sent you into another wave of embarrassment.
"B-boyfriend?!"
"Hold up! You're telling Paimon you're embarrassed by THAT even though you two--"
"Boy...friend...?" Xiao's face twisted in clear disgust as if he had eaten something sour, the words being carefully sounded out. You were his companion. What is this 'boy friend' term being flung around all of a sudden? "I've lived for a millennia and you dare refer to me as a child? Have you no respect for the adepti?"
"U-um!" Your stammer caught the attention of his narrowed eyes, and his gaze softened slightly. "Just ignore them. It's not a bad term or anything of the sort," you sent a pleading glance Aether's way so he wouldn't reveal the meaning of the word. Boyfriend...ah, I guess he is now...! Despite your heated cheeks, a flutter of excitement pressed against your chest at the thought and you broke eye contact with the yaksha.
"Yeah, you two need to talk about that," Aether laughed before turning serious. "Be careful. If you need help, Xiao can hear you, right? You just need to pray to him and--"
You nodded, "I know," and gifted him with a grim smile. "Don't worry about me. Focus on finding your sister. I'll figure out a way to deal with the Tsaritsa sooner or later." You pulled him into a tight hug, yanking Paimon out of the air to envelope her in one too. "I'll come back."
"That better be a promise you won't break."
"I swear it on my Granny's grave." The three of you released one another and stepped back. You waved them goodbye as they ran in the direction of the funeral parlor before turning to Xiao. "So..."
Xiao crossed his arms and shifted his weight onto his other foot, closing his eyes in a somewhat pensive manner. "Is there anything you wanted to do before you leave?"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You twist and turn in front of the mirror. A frown is plastered on your face as your hands trail over your swollen stomach.
“Din, do I look bigger than usual?”
The mandalorian looks up from where he was cleaning his blaster. His helmet tilts and soon he arises from his seat. Two large hands press and rub over your taut skin. “Cyare, you’re pregnant.”
“Really? I didn’t notice.” Glaring at him through the mirror, you sigh, “No, I just feel like… I don’t know… bigger.”
His hands leave your stomach to quickly pull off his helmet and attach his lips to your neck. “Hmmm, well I think you look amazing.” The vibrations from his voice travel down your spine and send tingle throughout your body.
Smiling, you turn your head and press a kiss to his cheek. “Thanks love.”
“It’ll be alright, don’t worry.” Stopping his attack on your neck, he rests his chin on your head and peers down at your stomach. “I’m so excited for him to arrive.”
A loud laugh breaks from your lips at his certain belief of your unborn child being a boy.
***
Reeza, your daughter, has sat herself on the counter near the sink. She peers out the small window longingly at her father and her brother.
Din has decided that Myles, your firstborn son, is finally old enough to begin his mandalorian training. Most mornings are now spent with you, Reeza, and Grogu setting up breakfast while your husband and Myles will train outside.
“Mommy?”
“Yes dear?” You look up from your sizzling pan of vegetables.
“When do I get to start training? I want to be a warrior too.”
Sighing, you wipe your hands on the towel that was draped over your shoulder. Walking over to her, your hand cups her cheek and you press a kiss to the top of her head. “Well, it's up to your father, but probably next year.”
“Next year!” Her arms fly up into the air in distress and she buries her head in your chest. “I can’t wait that long.”
Looking down, your brush through her long brown hair. Both of your children are carbon copies of your husband. “Maybe if you ask nicely, Myles will tell you what exercises he does and you can copy them. Then maybe Daddy will notice and he’ll start you early.”
“Good idea Mommy!” She releases you and turns to carefully watch them again.
Smiling, you go back to your pan and add some species. “Ree, could you go tell them that breakfast is ready.” She nods and jumps off the counter, running outside the hatch.
You set five plates down on the small table, and walk over to Grogu who was focused on memorizing his metal ball. He looks up and coos at you, arms lifting into the universal sign for “up.” Frowning, you peer down at him.
“You know if I get down, there's no way I’m getting back up.” His arms lower and he walks over to his seat at the table, before pulling himself up onto the chair. He looks at you and babbles something. Shaking your head you jokingly wave a finger at him. “You just wanted to see if I would fall for your tricks, didn’t you.”
Before he can respond, arms are wrapped around your middle and a helmet is shoved into the crevice between your head and your shoulder. He chuckles at your soft squeak of surprise, “Smells good, mesh’la.” Giving you one last slight squeeze, he releases you and sits down at the head of the table.
Smiling, you start dishing up three plates and setting them in front of your children. “Thanks Mommy.” “Thank you.” and “Gaa!” Reeza and Grogu sit next to each other while Myles sits across from them, your husband sits at the head and you sit at the other end.
Reaching for Din’s plate, he swats your hand away, “Go sit down, I’ve got it cyare.” Taking his helmet off and setting it on the floor next to his chair, he smiles and presses a kiss to your lips.
“Ewww, stop it!” Myles complains and Reeza makes a gagging sound, Grogu just giggles at them.
Breaking away you look at your children who all look disgusted. “How do you think you little rascals were made?”
“DIN!” You slap his chest with your towel and he just grins at you. Turning to your children, you exclaim, “Don’t listen to your father!”
“Mommy, what does Daddy mean?” Sweet little innocent Reeza asks.
Glaring at your husband you walk over and brush her hair away from her forehead, “You ask Daddy that in a few years, okay?” You can tell she is confused by the way her head tilts, mirroring the frequent habit of your husband perfectly. Albeit, she just nods and shoves another spoonful of vegetables into her mouth.
Sending Din one last glare, you sit down and start at your own plate. “Myles, stop playing with your brother. Eat your food.”
His head whips to meet your own, shock written all over his face that you caught him. Recently, Myles and Grogu have been playing the game of “levitating food.” Myles will point at a specific piece of food and Grogu will try and lift it into his mouth. Pouting, he looks down at his plate and stabs an unsuspecting pepper.
Silence is a foreign term in the Djarin residence, and today is no different. As soon as everyone settles down, the child gives a hard kick to your ribs. A whine falls from your lips as your hand flies over your stomach. The mandalorian instantly is at your side, rubbing and massaging whatever skin his hands can reach.
“Sorry, they’re just kicking hard.” Giving your worried family an apologetic smile, you try and laugh it off.
Your husband’s eyes frantically watch your features, checking to see if you are in any pain. When he finds no signs, he places a hand over your stomach in a protective manner. Turning to his children he sighs, “Your mother and I have made a decision.”
All three children stop eating and look at him. They all look so serious. You have to bite back a smile at how they all sport the same serious face their father uses, even Grogu has started making the same expressions as his father.
“We’ve decided that we are going to travel and spend the next month and a half at the covert. That way the child will be born safely there and Myles you can get your first helmet.”
“I want a brother!” Myles shouts before the idea of his own helmet even processes.
“Not fair, you have Grogu. I want a sister!” Reeza sticks her tongue out at Myles.
“Wait!” Myles turns to his father, eyes as large as the moon. “I get my own helmet?” With a proud grin, your husband nods and Myles yells out in delight. “When are we leaving? Can we go now?”
Din turns to look at you and asks, “Well should we go now?”
You nod your head and everyone jumps into action. Reeza grabs plates and brings them to the sink. Din and Myles practically run to the cockpit and start the procedure for liftoff. Even though it’s only been seven months, your stomach has already surpassed the size of your last pregnancy. They do say that every pregnancy the child is bigger than the last, but this is alot bigger than you expected.
***
“Din? No way. How have you been? I haven’t seen you in years man.” Paz Vizsla envelopes your husband into a large hug and they both pat each other backs. They talk back and forth for a while before Paz finally sees you walking down the hatch. “I see you’ve been busy.” He throws your husband a glance before walking over to also hug you.
You stand at the base of the hatch, Grogu attached to your hip while Myles holds your other hand. Reeza, a tad shocked at the size of the man, hides behind your legs and clutches your skirt. “Fancy seeing you here.” You toss the familiar helmet a wide smile and he walks over to hug you.
“My my, Reeza you’re so big! Last time I saw you, you fit in the palm of my hand.” Still unsure of the warrior, she slowly makes her way from behind you. “And Myles, I heard you are coming for your helmet. I’m so proud of you.”
Your son smiles at Paz and lets the man pick him up. “Thanks, I’m super excited.”
“You should be, you’ve been the talk of the covert recently.” Din walks over to your side and Reeza runs over to him, wanting to be in her fathers arms. Picking her up, you all walk into the covert.
As soon as you make it through the doors, everyone is greeting you. Women coo at the large swell to your belly and the men pat Din on the back, your children have run off with the other covert children.
Shortly the armorer greets you, “Welcome back. Your room is ready, right next to the med bay.” She gives you a nod and goes back to her duties. It took awhile for her to warm up to you since you are not mandalorian. But as the years have gone on and the more children you produce, she seems to have now taken a liking to you.
The women pull you away from the main group to sit by the fire. “You look like you could pop any second! How far along are you?” Beti, one of your friends, asks.
“It’s only been a little over seven months.” All the women gasp in shock and hands fly over your stomach.
“No way, the baby is supposed to grow the most in the next couple months! You can’t grow much more.”
“I know!” Seeing Beti’s look of question, you sigh, “Yes, I’m sure it’s only been seven months.”
She throws her hands up in defense. “You know, Mirta was huge, about as big as you are, and she had twins.” Women nod and make sounds of agreement.
All the sudden, the dots start connecting. You thought you remembered less activity from your other pregnancies and now it makes sense. Your hand flies to cover your mouth that has hung open in shock. But your mind rejects the idea and you shake your head. “There’s no way.”
***
The bed dips as your husband crawls under the covers with you. “Hey handsome.”
He nuzzles up against you and presses a kiss to your shoulder. “Mmm cyar’ika.” You let out a giggle as his scruff tickles your neck. All at once, pain erupts from your stomach. “Cyare?”
“Din…” A pathetic wail falls from your lips and you roll off the bed, standing and clutching the edge of the bed for stability, “the baby.”
His features flood with panic before they fall back into his stoic facade. “Alright, let’s get you to the med bay.” Nodding, you grab his shirt and clench your teeth as another wave of pain passes through your body.
Your eyes widen when water runs down your thighs. “Din, my w-water-” A groan interrupts your own voice.
He scoops you from your feet. “It’s okay, cyare, I’ve got you.” His voice soothes your nerves a little, but there is little you can do to a woman in labor.
As you enter the med bay, the doctor instantly starts informing you both on the procedure and plan however you can’t focus on what she’s saying. Din lays you down on the medical bed and moves to clutch your hand.
After many excruciating hours of pain and yelled curses you finally hear the wail of a child. You catch your breath as the doctor informs you that you’ve had a healthy baby boy. Handing your son to you, she nods before closing a curtain around you both.
Din rips his helmet from his head and instantly presses a kiss to your forehead and then to his new son. “Oh mesh’la.” His voice cracks with emotion and a tear falls onto his cheek.
But before you can respond another wave of pain travels through your body. “DIN!” Handing your son to him, you clutch the blanket. Instantly, he throws his helmet on and flings open the curtain to find the doctor.
“Somethings wrong!” You can hear the panic in his voice as he beckons her back to you. “This has never happened before. Please, help her.”
She takes a look at the spot between your legs before glancing at your husband. “She’s having another.”
“Kriff, another?!” You should have known, Beti told you so. A nurse walks over to Din and takes your son from his arms, needing to clean him.
“Alright cyare, you got it. I’m right here. Come on, cyar’ika.” You don’t miss the way he grimaces when you squeeze his hand.
After what seems like seconds and yet hours, another cry is heard and finally the pain subsides. Din gasps as he leans forward, trying to catch a glimpse of his child leaving your body. “Congratulations, you have a healthy baby girl.”
The nurse arrives back with your son, handing him to Din, and the doctor hands your daughter to you. Once again, she nods before closing the thick curtain.
Pressing a kiss to her head you peer up at your husband who hasn’t moved since the nurse offered him his son. He seems frozen, you’re not even sure he is breathing. “Din?”
It takes him a second to slowly turn his helmet to meet your gaze. One shaky hand lifts up his helmet, his eyes as wide as saucers and swirling with unshed tears. The helmet makes a loud bang as it falls from his grasp onto the floor. That same hand reaches over to your daughter and caresses her head. “They’re perfect.” A tear falls from his eyes, “Kriff, you’re perfect.”
He falls to his knees, but makes sure to keep his new son secure and safe. His head leans on your shoulder and finally all his tears fall. Loud sobs echo throughout the small enclosed space.
“I’m so happy.” The twins have both fallen asleep, one on your chest and the other in his embrace. He chokes on a tear before offering you a kiss, teardrops falling from his eyes to mix with the ones you are now shedding. “You’re amazing.”
One of your hands moves over to lightly trail over your son's figure. You meet his eyes and a loud cry breaks from your lips at the twinkles of love and softness in his.
“I love you.” He rests his forehead against yours and you both close your eyes. “You’re too good for me.”
