Funny little story for y'all

Once went on a coffee and antiquing date with a guy. He was really nice, none of this is said to disparage him or anything.

So we were chatting about tattoos, he asked about my (unfinished) sleeve. I told him it was based on a poem from the Lord of the Rings books.

"Wow, I've never seen or read Lord of the Rings. I can't imagine liking any media so much I'd want it on my body forever, that's cool."

I asked him about his tattoos. He showed me his favorite.

Guys... Guys.

He has "Not all who wander are lost" on his shoulder.

I was practically weeping, I was laughing so hard in this dingy antique store basement. I couldn't fucking breathe. He was so confused but I somehow managed to communicate "that's from lord of the rings."

"Oh, huh."

My favorite thing about the “not all who wander are lost” poem is that when you first learn about it in tFotR you think it’s like this great prophesy made at Aragorn’s birth by an oracle or something but then later you learn it’s just a funky lil song Bilbo made up for his poetry buddy

just had an airport experience so evil that i literally openly cried from like 10min after deplaning all the way through customs etc until halfway through the train ride back to the city 👍

Anyway they can change between being tiny and human sized. And when they're tinier they can only be seen by the other fae or their selected humans. So if you just passed Noll on the street while Shavuli was perched on his shoulder chatting away you wouldn't see or hear her.
