So Mae, I suppose you are super busy because being such amazing writer is no easy job when you have requests coming all the time but, if you have the time, whenever that is, could you write something about James? James Potter x fem!reader ♡ 603 words

James’ hand is especially gentle as he strokes over your hair. Your nose dents into his thigh, and his jeans are coarse and scratchy but the slight pressure is nice. 

“Still dizzy?” he asks, carefully quiet. 

“A little.” Your own voice is thin, fraught. “Not as bad.” 

He sighs, and you feel too weird to decipher whether it’s in relief or dismay. “I’m sorry, angel.” He lifts one of your hands to his mouth, kissing the side. “Is it hurting in any one place?” 

“It’s my whole face. But most in my forehead.” 

James’ touch is featherlight, ghosting over the spot where you’d smacked your head on the stairs. “Here?” 

“Mhm.” 

He makes a worried humming sound in response. You sit in silence for some time, and it’s not uncomfortable, but nothing is comfortable for you right now. You feel terrible, unlike yourself and unsettled because of that and also weepy but not as much as you are embarrassed. And dwelling upon any of this for too long makes your head spin worse. You don’t think you’re dying though it feels like you might be. 

The warm bead rolling down your nose brings you to the realization that you’re crying. James’ coo follows a moment later, and his hand splays protectively atop your head. 

“You’re okay, sweetheart. Do you feel alright to sit up?” 

“Okay,” you mumble. 

He does the work for you, though it’s hard to keep track of the movements. One second your head is on his lap and the next you’re propped against his chest, one muscled arm supporting your back while James rests his lips against your forehead. 

“You’re okay,” he promises. “You’re okay, I’ve got you.” 

“I don’t really feel like going to dinner anymore,” you admit, tasting salt as a tear finds its way into your mouth. 

“Oh,” James lifts his lips to look you in the eyes, “honey, I didn’t expect you to. I’m going to call Remus and cancel in a minute, okay?” He brushes a lock of hair away from your face with his pinkie finger, stroking a sweet line down your cheek. “If you go anywhere, it should probably be to the doctor.” 

“No.” You close your eyes, too upset to care about the low whine that escapes you. “What’re they gonna do?” 

“I don’t know, baby.” James traces the same line again. “They might want to do an MRI or something. I’ve had a concussion before, they’re serious business.” 

You sigh, leaning your head on his shoulder. The material of his jumper is soft beneath your cheek. “I can’t think about it right now.” 

There’s a brief pause. 

“Okay. Okay, we can talk about it tomorrow, if it’s still bad then.” 

“I’m sorry.” 

“You don’t need to be sorry.” James’ arm wraps around your middle, squeezing lightly in a gentle sort of hug. You think that he’s being very careful with you, which you appreciate. You don’t imagine you could handle much more sensation at the moment. “I know it sucks, angel, and you’re handling it so well. We’re gonna do our best to get you feeling better. I love you so much, you know?” 

You feel like you might cry again. You don’t think you have the energy to stop yourself. “I know,” you tell him. “I love you so much, too.” 

“Heaps and heaps.” He gives you another little squeeze, his ability to repress his affection tenuous at best. “Probably the most anyone has ever loved anyone, if we’re being honest.” 

“James.” 

“Yeah?”

“I can’t do that kind of math right now. I love you a lot, okay?” 

“Okay. Same here.”

5: STICKY FINGERS

Runaan going "You've already said that this morning." to Callum- I know I've said it before but I'm so in love with Jonathan Holmes' voice-- it's so smooth and rich and I could listen to it for hours istg

And then Ethari going "Runaan, be kind to the boy!" 😭

"Home for less than a month and she's already tired of my cooking!" I love their banter so so so much gfdghdjk and the face Ethari makes while saying that with the raised eyebrow

And then Ethari introducing Callum to the Moon Cubs I love the fact that we get to see Ethari interacting with other Moonshadow Elves-- I was so nervous that cause of his grief he's going to become guarded and shut out other elves, but he's clearly so loved by the entire village and especially by the kids, and just seeing more of Ethari after living off of scraps ever since Season 3 was just so marvelous And also Runaan's face while he looks at Callum when Ethari introduces him to the kids--- the eyebrow was raised SO HIGH LMAO

Amaya saying "ass" and Gren having to censor her again lmao

Soren going "SALAD GUY" at Terry LMAO Also Soren yelling at Terry both for being on previously being on the wrong side and then for abandoning said wrong side cause it meant abandoning Claudia LMAO "YEAH? WELL I'M CONFUSED TOO" summed it all up so nicely and was freaking hilarious

Terry just casually dropping the Aaravos bomb in the middle of the convo

Callum setting the scene up so that we think he's going to show the kids his primal magic powers but then just going "tickleproof" was SO GOOD LMAO and so wholesome too 😭 I know it's a given considering he has a younger brother but he's so good with the kids it's so adorable

"Ah-ah, I know this trick! You're just buttering me up!" callback to season 2 😭 Loved it, it made me laugh so much back then

Of course the iconic "Rayla! Callum wants to have ten babies with you!!" scene It made me wheeze so much I had pause the show to collect myself istg Not in front of her dads too 😭 Callum's face, Runaan's deadpan stare, Ethari bursting into laughter It was SO good and funny and wholesome gjhdhgfdk And the tiny detail of Runaan's stoic face breaking into a soft smile as Ethari starts laughing 😭 He loves him SO much and he must've missed that laugh SO MUCH

Soren's "How do we know it's not mmmmmagic sap CORVUS CHECK IT." I LOVED THE DELIVERY ON THAT LINE SO MUCH GDJGHDKJ

The fking Moonberry Surprise scene jdkghdjghdk it caught me SO OFF GUARD 😭 Rayla what the hell did you put in that cake

6: INVERSION

The primal stone in Aaravos' staff now actually looks like a mini-moon and I love it so much it's so pretty

The animation of Claudia's face when she says "My dad left this world without unfinished business" is done SO beautifully, the way her hair blows in the wind, and her her eyes get bigger and then fill with tears and tremble as they close-- I'm in love with those few seconds

"Good question. How about you answer it?" "What?" the way Aaravos said it was so soft and small I love it so much

"For Leola. My sweet baby girl." hfjskfhsjfhsk 😭 and then the flashback of Leola shouting "daddy" to him as she dies And the delivery of that monologue by Erik Dellums--- do I need to say more

Callum and Rayla repeating the exact things they said in Season 6 after they found out about the Pearl before Kosmo rewinded time was SUCH a cool detail

And then Callum having a literal panic attack- it was shown so well and the emotions were so RAW and genuine I loved it, Callum stuttering and hyperventilating and then THE SHOT OF THE DARK MAGIC VERSION OF HIM SMILING UP AT HIM WAS SO GOOD AND SCARY And the "Nothing, I just- I- I need- I just need- Um, I need some time by myself-" said in almost monotone was such good performance from Jack de Sena I loved it

Aaravos going "A minor inconvenience." as Soren and Terry come out in his deep low voice was SO BADASS

Also there's something about the animation quality in the scene when Claudia passes both Soren and Terry and turns to look at them both- like, the emotion shown on her face, and the movement is so fuild and smooth, I was just in awe

Dark Magic Callum arriving as a dark silhouette with purple glowing eyes was SO INSANELY COOL I AUDIBLY GASPED I love his design so much - and the fact that his voice is a little deeper and just DIFFERENT, you can hear that somehow it's DIFFERENT and it's so incredibly cool And he has a cool coat so

Also that would've been really funny if some random Moonshadow Elf from Silvergrove was just on a night walk and stumbled upon Callum just sitting on a log and screaming angrily at the air lmao

I realized the plan they had with Claudia's mother literally JUST a second before Claudia went "Too exactly" cause I started to think - where's Lujanne during all of this? And then I thought Actually, where's AARAVOS during all of this LMAO

And the scene with Claudia freezing them in place was SO BADASS and tense I LOVED IT The short chant she used sounded so cool, I even reversed it to hear what the actual spell was but I couldn't make the words out lol

Freaking Ziard's spirit coming back as a terrifying skeleton was SO SCARY AND AMAZING

And then Aaravos absolutely TOWERING over Ezran when he's back to his titan form, with his marking glowings and dark blue shadows with the starry sky in the background-- I was so enchanted by this shot I had to pause to just stare at it And then his laugh just BOOMING across the environment- and how he staggers in the background behind Ezran as they fire at him, shielding his face, like there's something about his movements that just shows how absolutely MASSIVE he is SO WELL and it's SO INSANELY COOL

And again, the animation-- like that one shot when it slowed down and focused on the arrows as they flew towards Aaravos' face, with him blurred in the backround and realization and fear slowly appearing on his face before BOOM I just want to appreciate the quality of the shots and the animation cause DAMN IS IT INCREDIBLE THIS SEASON everyone absolutely outdid themselves And the way the orange light of the fire and the explosions contrasted so well with the blue shadows jgkfhdgjkfdhgkfjdhk I am: in love. Also they literally went and pulled a Gulliver on him didn't they

7: THE TITAN AND THE KING

RUNAAN IS BACK WITH HIS OLD OUTFIT 😭😭😭 and he fixed his hair back!!

Silvergrove's owl griffons are SO GORGEOUS I love them so much, their design is so incredible I'm just wondering what happened to the Shadowpaw :(( Cause we didn't see this cutie for the entire season and I loved his soft kitty face so much, it was my absolute favourite of the creatures

"Aaravos is not the only one with a plan. New friends and old friends are working together to help us stop him" Callum narrating the letter over the montage of the Silvergrove team getting ready was so cinematic with the music in the background

It was only during the rewatch tho that I realized-- when Callum narrates about him going to Akiyu for another pearl, there's a shot of Akiyu herself and the shadow of CLAUDIA looming over her, so we were already being given a hint that she's the one who killed her and it was AMAZING

"Aaravos, what do you have to say for yourself?" "I… am innocent." ICONIC THAT MADE ME SMILE SO MUCH HE'S SO SASSY

Ethari's suspicious face with the raised eyebrow as the stone golems are trying to tell him Rex Igneous is not home I LOVED THAT SCENE SO MUCH And him going "Um, are you certain…?" with a slight smile and that lovely Scottish accent ghfdkh And the trick he pulls with the "Ah, what a shame! I brought a delicious gift…" he DEFINITELY used to do it with little Rayla when she didn't want to do something 😭

The shot of Rex Igneous towering over Ethari as he comes out of the mountain-- again, just showing how fking MASSIVE he is compared to Ethari it was SO COOL

Aaravos lifting himself up all of a sudden and everyone just absolutely FREAKING OUT and then him going softly "Don't be scared." HJKFDHJSK

THE LITTLE MUSHPALS SURROUNDING TERRY THEY WERE ALL SO CUTE especially the one on his shoulder with tiny body and huge eyes and hat I WANT TEN OF THEM 😭

"I suppose you've seen that written in the stars?" "No, no… I've seen it written in his eyes." HFKDHGJKSFHGDFKJ

"Pity… I enjoyed our conversation, young king. But I have lingered here long enough. Look… The sun has set." THE WAY HE SAYS IT AS THEY ALL WALK AWAY FDFGFHDFJKHGDK with him lingering on that "t" in "set" and then the slow realization of what that means it was INCREDIBLE, and that sad pitying smile he has on his face as he says it

RUNAAN PUSHING CALLUM OUT OF THE HARM'S WAY GHJKSGHSJK and getting a boulder to the head 😭😭

Callum using the blood freezing spell on Claudia?? And Claudia still being able to cast spells during that??? When Rayla was completely paralyzed from pain when it was used on her?? And the whole duel between them in general?????

THE SHOT of Claudia holding the staff, with eyes glowing purple, face covered in dark cracks, the lighting making her skin look almost blue, and with Runaan coming up behind her, bow drawn, and then going "Don't. Move." WITH THAT LOW AND SMOOTH VOICE THAT WAS SO FKING BADASS JONATHAN HOLMESSSSSSS

"Now what?" "Now, we wait for Callum to catch his breath. And then, he will decide whether you live or die." HFJDSKHGJDK he was waiting for Callum's order cause he's an ASSASSIN HE CARRIES OUT ORDERS GJGHDK

And the scene with Claudia's dragon armor of course--- the way it lights up before she breathes fire gjhgjkf

THE MAGMA TITAN FROM SEASON 3 AND THEN ZIARD RESURRECTING AVIZANDUM I literally audibly gasped like holy shit NOW it's getting even WORSE I was SO EXCITED

8: DYING LIGHT

Aaravos shaking the entire screen as he walks

When he was just staring at Karim with this unimpressed face without saying a single word-- and then he started smirking, and Karim yapped more and more, and I was thinking "okay, he's gonna swallow him, isn't he? As a reference to the third season, cause he said he swallowed Queen Aditi--" AND THEN THE SQUISH THAT WAS SO GRIM AND GRUESOME AND UNEXPECTED I WAS LITERALLY SPEECHLESS FOR A FEW GOOD MOMENTS And the sound of it too?????? The blood??? Janai's screams???????? I don't think ANYONE expected Karim to go out like that and HOLY SHIT the shock factor was HUUUUUGE

Aaravos being forced onto his back and pinned down by Rex Igneous? 👀👀👀 And then him blasting Rex away - like YES finally we get to see Aaravos fighting with magic, even if it was just for a second

Also I love how different Rex Igneuos' voice is from other Archdragons- like it's not as low and booming as Sol Regem's or deep and royal as Zubeia and Domina's, but it's rather sharp, and rocky, and rough, but it has such authority and power and strength in it too-- like it fits an Archdragon so well but in different ways than the other ones

And the fight between him and Avizandum was such an epic battle, so fitting for the series finale, like we finally get to see the dragons in ACTION action after getting just slivers of it

Also Rex's death caught me off guard-- I didn't expect him to ACTUALLY die, I thought he might get defeated and hurt, but not straight up DEAD halfway through the battle It was really good shock value tho, like it showed how SERIOUS this has gotten

Aaravos going "ARE. YOU. WATCHING?" at the starry sky gfdjdlhjkgf

Runaan saying "You've done well" to the owl gryphon 🥺🥺🥺 He was so SOFT in that moment gfjdhgkd the hardened assassin And he gave it a pet and a little smile too 🥹 AND THEN him and Rayla hugging AGAIN 😭😭 I loved seeing him being affectionate with his beloved family so much

EVERYONE GETTING READY FOR THE FINAL FIGHT AVENGERS ASSEMBLE

STELLA CASUALLY DECAPITATING THE DRAKE WITH THE PORTAL GFDJHGFDJK I didn't expect that from HER OF ALL THE LITTLE CREATURES

DOMINA PROFUNDIS' ENTRANCE Like first the water raining down and then this MASSIVE OCEAN DRAGON appearing with such a cool sound too and flying over Rayla's head like a freaking JETPLANE And the clicking kind of sound she made when she landed next to Zubeia was so incredibly cool I got shivers- and her design is so pretty too, especially with that shot!!!

Aaravos going "I do not fall for the same tricks twice." with that low angry voice gave me so many chills

"But I'm afraid you've misjudged your would-be slayer. Your beloved is an assassin who cannot kill." "No. Not Rayla." AND THEN THE CAMERA MOVING TO REVEAL RUNAAN WITH HIS BOWED TRAINED ON CALLUM FJFGHDFKGD I WAS starting to realize what was happening when Callum said "Moonshadow assassin" and not just "Rayla" BUT TO ACTUALLY SEE IT I audibly gasped grjhdk

9: NOVA

"There is no path to victory. It's over." "You're right. There isn't. Not for you, either. Because we will sacrifice anything to stop you, and save this world. My heart… for Xadia…!" 🥹🥹🥹 no words

Aaravos going "Claudia, you must go!"-- I think it's at that moment he realized there actually is a possibility of losing the fight And then "I WILL NOT-- watch… another daughter die." 🥹🥹🥹 I DO think their father-daughter relationship was the tiniest bit rushed, but it's still made my eyes water, and the way he said it too bfhjhjghjdg so soft but sad and like he wanted to reassure her as well

Runaan clutching his side and reaching his arm out towards Rayla to hug her AGAIN when she comes to the ground HFDJKHGJKFDHGDFJKGHD he loves his family SO MUCH And then the wince as he pulls away cause he's still hurting and the fall made it worse again gjfdhgkj it was such a nice little scene but so telling

The way Aaravos looked in his final moment-- all battered and bruised and with blood trickling down from his nose and mouth and his EYE-- it was so visceral and genuinely scary

The fact that when he died it looked the exact same as Leola died--- with light pouring out of his eyes and mouth jffdgjdk I was just so stunned I couldn't even move

Zym crying out for his mom and crying as she burned---- 😭😭😭 and her going "Goodbye, Azymondias… I will always love--" as the camera switches to Zym just looking up with eyes full of tears-- and the fact the she didn't GET TO FINISH AND SAY "LOVE YOU" IN HER FINAL WORDS MADE LITERALLY WEEP

And the soundtrack that played during that entire scene, with the vocalization and wailing--- it was just oh my God so good

And then after that the "Brothers." scene LMAO Like logically I knew he HAD to start talking at some point, since all the adult Archdragons do, but it caught me SO OFF GUARD and it was SUCH A GOOD SCENE LMAOOOO And apparently he's voiced by Zuko's voice actor too which I find absolutely amazing, the voice fits him SO WELL

Opeli going "I say 'potato', you say 'po-tah-to'…" LMAOOO it was so great to see and hear her so exasperated

Getting to see all the characters from the previous seasons<3 Elmer from Finnegrin's ship, Nyx and Villads, teenage Phoe-Phoe

Runaan and Ethari arriving on the owl griffin, he looked so sad and somber and the blue lighting in that scene was again so gorgeous gjfhdgk

And of course the monologue he gives next I was literally speechless watching it We got to hear about his thoughts and feelings in such depth And is was such a contrast to the stoic and badass cold-blooded assassin we knew from season 1 And Jonathan performance?????? The little bitter laugh at the "A twisted peacemaker, I suppose…", the way his voice started breaking at "My act of violence planted seeds of darkness, seeds of anger and hate, that would grow into a thousand fold the violence I thought I could stop", like you can literally HEAR the genuine TEARS in his voice, how close he is to crying And the shot at Ethari's face in between all of this--- he looked like he was about to break into tears as well, I don't know if he's ever seen his husband being so vulnerable and open about his feelings towards someone else aside from him like in that moment "I was trained to accept that I was already dead, so that I might carry out my dark work without fear. But… I am NOT DEAD! I am ALIVE! I have a family I love!" THE WAY YOU CAN HEAR THE ABSOLUTE ANGUISH IN HIS VOICE AFTER HE'S BEEN A STOIC COLD-HEARTED ASSASSIN FOR SO LONG AND ETHARI'S FACE AT THOSE LAST WORDS AND HIM RUSHING TO HUG RUNAAN And the contrast of the season 1 "I told you, I am already dead" with the season 7 "I am NOT DEAD! I am ALIVE!" 😭😭😭😭

And of course Leola's Last Wish--- the music during that scene was so gorgeous I was crying so much and I IMMEDIATELY went to look for that particular soundtrack, with the harp and the strings gfdjhgdhjkdg

In summary: I love this show with my entire heart. I know people have their complaints about this season, there will always be complaints and disappointment, but honestly I'm just focusing on the things I loved about the season - there was SO much work and love that went into making this, so much PASSION, I can't imagine how hard the creators and the artists and the voice actors worked to get it done, and I just want to thank them SO SO much for creating this, for getting their story out there, for giving us so many incredible characters to love, so many incredible moments, the music, the beauty, the shots-- Gonna get a little personal here but I've been struggling with depression for a long few years now and when I discovered The Dragon Prince this year it was the first time in YEARS that I felt so involved with a story, so enraptured in it, so CONNECTED to it, I just love it all with my entire absolute heart- it brought me so much comfort, maybe because it reminded me of the animated movies I used to watch during winter evening at my parents' house, warm and cozy under the blankets in the living room, maybe because it was just so amazing in itself, or maybe both combined. Good stories are the thing I love the absolute most in the entire world, and God, was THAT a DAMN GOOD STORY. @dragonprinceofficial thank you SO much for giving us this world, this story, these emotions, and please know that despite all the criticism there are so many of us that love the show with our ENTIRE hearts.<3<3<3

The dinner table was full of yummy desserts, wine glasses and most deliciously cinnabun rolls. Our evening dinner was one of celebration, you could see it in everyone's faces, the way their eyes were all wrinkled at the corners and their cheeks full of sweet cinnamon and honey. Everyone was just so happy to celebrate my mom's latest success, an ascension to being on the magazine for women CEO of 2024. As we were close to finishing our meal of the night, my dad finally spoke with a grin in his face. I could see my mom's notorious blush and my sister's little grin of mischief as she darted a cherry at my dad's pudding cup.

"Everyone, attention," my dad attempted to clink his glass of wine with a silver fork, immideatly causing my mom to tug at his elbow whispering a shy 'Don't'.

"ATTENTIOOOON." he yelled this time, a bit louder to compensate for the lack of glass to clink. A placid yet drunk smile formed on his face, whilst mom's was just purely fluster.

"There are no- Hiccup- words to describe the proud husband I have become. I am the husband of the woman CEO of the year, what else should I ask for? To celebrate this, we four will all go to the countryside to relax and rent a cabin, bring your bathing suits ladies and most importantly repelent. I want this special 3 day vacation just to celebrate my incredible wife's achievment." we all clapped at my dad's half drunk speech, the sweet smile lines and crows feet multiplied by the inmense smile he spoke with was the sweetest thing I have seen. We all cheered for this short trip, nothing could make us all happier than a small break.

That same night I grabbed my black totebag and tossed in a couple shorts, underwear and most importantly a one piece bathing suit. Happy as I was, to see my parent's marriage be the standard I should aim for, I tossed in a makeup bag and a hairbrush and I was set. I giggled and looked at my ceiling as I plopped down on the bed. As excited as I was, sleep and sending an excuse of absence to my university were the first step to take if I wanted to join everyone on the trip. I quickly jotted down a quick excuse and pressed send.

"Have you packed everything? Remember to bring at least a pair of jeans if you want to ride the horses at the ranch." My mom peeked her head out of the doorway and looked at me with a grin.

"Yeah I have, don't worry I'll put one on as we leave."

"You better, you don't want to know the rashes you'll get from those stable horses."

I nodded and walked towards the door, kissing her cheek goodnight, and a tight yet quick hug.

I chuckled thinking of my late night antics and finally sat up, a groggy mess and a bird's nest in my hair rose up as I look for my phone.

Upon instinct, my feet pull me out of bed and lead me to the small bathroom next to my bedroom.

Finishing up my morning routine, caking up a couple layers of makeup and finally scooping my boobs to look nice in a fitted cleavage top. I was all set to leave. Let's see, last nights totebag, jeans, they said to bring sunscreen right? yeah. Probs. What else? Right a hair brush and the swimsuit. As I finished listing off every possible thing I could need there I started to take a couple of selfies while I waited for my dad's classic holler to meet my family at the living room.

Soon came a "WE'RE LEAVING." trademarked holler from my dad, who pretty much lied as he sat on the barstool next to the kitchen isle drinking cofffee and biscuits.

"Careful with that one Pinocchio, your snoring is worsening as you speak." My mom scoffed as she dragged a luggage in a haste, a drop of sweat threatening to ruin her laminated brows.

As I also enter the living room in a haste, I hunch over as I see how calmly he's sipping coffee like it's no body's business.

"Living with 3 women has taught me patience, believe me. I have to speed things up or else I'll be the one you women blame when we're late to our check in." He chortled as he lifted his pinkie finger and extended his lips to reach the coffee cup.

A short sigh is escaped by my mom and I as we sit down on the couches, waiting for my sister is going to be eternal. As my dad said, it's good to keep a few tricks to pick up the pace with us. My mouth opens, trying to think of what to say to my sister who's making us all be late.

"LILY, I CALL SHOTGUN" My mom yelled as she pinched my arm, a sign to shut up and let her handle it. I quickly rub my arm with a scoff, trying to discreetly roll my eyes.

As effective as that was, my sister stormed through the halls carrying two totebags and a backpack. A smiled tugged at the corners of my mouth as my Dad, who now waited against the main door, tapped his foot impatiently.

"So, where are we going really?" I asked from the car's backseat.

"To hell bebe." My mom scoffed absentmindedly as she once more won her match of solitaire.

"Seriously, where?" A whine escaped my mouth, like a child's impatience.

"It's a surprsie-- oh and connect your spotify, we're getting bored of the same three songs your sister has playing." Mom's aloof comment had earned an annoyed protest from my sister. "Don't argue while you're at it."

It was going to be a long car ride trip, so might as well just do as she says and stand Lily for as long as I can. To preface, my sister and I don't typically bicker, as we are just used to ignoring eachother's presence, but sometimes she does gets on my nerves. Who's up to standing a whiny and angsty 14 year old for more than an hour? Not me.

This was a sign to just nap the whole carride out, head peacefuly rested against the window, a nice little nap was just what I needed.

Eventually we had reached the point of the ride where everyone is quiet and the two front passangers are just at it gossiping and talking about life in general. That is my favorite ever part of it.

"Right, she thinks that because I am succesful she can just cling to my name and try to force people into giving her a job with no history of ever moving a finger." My mom's voice casually whispered as they started gossiping about family members. It just happens sometimes.

"Hold that thought Marina, pull up the Maps for this section, the fog ahead is pretty harsh." my dad mumbled back as he leaned forward in his seat while grabbing the steering wheel with white knuckles.

My parents argued quietly with the poor google maps assistant, cautiously trying not to wake us up. As we finally reached to a stop, my dad sighed and took a sip of his trusty leather flask, and with a 'pop' his lips smacked and his throat roared.

"Girls, we're here, get your stuff-- we're unpacking as they show us our room." My mom reached towards the backseat and grabbed my sister and I's knees shaking them against eachother to wake us up fully.

Fast forward to our very own cabin, the guide opens the door for us and lets us in.

"Two beds?" I sigh. It seems there were no other options unless I prefered to sleep in the car. The cabin was nice, it had A/C and a nice bathroom. It was pretty pintoresque and quaint, just how I like it, to the exception of course, of sharing a bed with my sister. The two white queen beds had a nice matress and were free of any bugs thankfully. Other than that, there wasn't much more to note of this farm cabins we booked.

"Yes Bebe, two beds. We're all gonna die because you have ot sleep next to Lily for two nights, wa, wa." My dad mocked my tone playfully and as I shoot a bored look at him he comes to my side and pinches my ribs.

"Stop that!" I giggled and hugged my dad with a fake annoyed look. It wasn't so bad really, it was just for two nights, nothing could really make it that bad.

We set down our things inside the cabin and started to set up our clothes down for the next day, since the fog had really made the trip a little hard for my dad we decided to wait an hour before we got out. It had already been 5pm since we arrived and as the cabin staff said, we had until 7pm to get our dinner served and until 9pm to use the pool. This place seemed neat. I could just lay on the bed until 7, sleep was never enough for me. I positioned my head softly against the mattress, half lidded eyes and soon fast asleep into my 2nd nap of the day.

"Shh shh, you're gonna wake her up." I heard a couple of mumbling and whistling as I finally awoke from slumber. My family opened the door with less than caution as they turned on the lights and sat down on the free bed.

My groggy eyes had finally answered to the light as I rub them and sit up. A more than perplexed face formed as my stitched brows and pursed lips turn to look at my traitor family.

"You guys didn't wake me up?" I croaked, holding my head with my right hand and propping myslef up with the other.

"You seemed passed out, so we decided to dine and wait for you to get inside the pool, it's pretty tempered." Lily mentioned stifling a giggle as she crossed her legs with a smirk.

"Keep your enemies close and your family closer." I mumble as I drown my face into the soft cushion pillow. My dad let out an audible chuckle, and soon a cough as my mom elbows him to the gut.

"Don't fret, we have all tomorrow to spend together, we can also go to the pool right now, we have 2 more hours left until they bleach it." My mom soothingly patted my back as she sits down next to me. A small kiss lands on my temple when she pulls me into an embrace.

"Fine, I'll go." My mom cheered and dragged my wrist to the main entrance. Soon followed my sister and my lucidly drunk dad.

The pool was fine, really nothing special, according to the cabin staff, there's a bunch of recreational going on tomorrow. There's a horse show, boat tour around the lake, cow milking and finally an opportunity to just walk around the farm state altoghter on a horse.

Being the horsegirl to the core type of girl, I of course tried getting my parents to join me on the horse related ones. Aaaand like every other functional family we started arguing, my sister wanted the water ones, mom wanted sun bathing and I the land ones.

"We're not doing the boat tour, have you heard that one news article of the whole 15 passenger boat that sank to the bottom last week nearby?" My dad slammed his fist against the table as we sat in the farm's restaurant. His stitched brows and red eyes indicated that there was no persuading on this one, his heart and mind were set on not letting anyone on a boat.

"But dad!" My sister whined as she dropped her fork.

"No buts." His face turned to the other side, indignant at my sister's persistence.

"We're also not doing horses, we just ate, what kind of brain process thinks that you're not about to barf on the horse lackey and yourself as you get on the horse? I say no." My mom commanded, putting a muffin on my dad's plate. Two set of wide eyes smiled as the big 1000 calorie blueberry muffin landed and soon crumbled against the hands of an italian dad.

I let out an audible groan as she turned down my activity too, facing my sister with joined mischief we nod to each other with a grin.

"Ma, she's poking me." I whined

"Pa she's the one poking me." Lily cried.

"If she doesn't stop I swear I'll stab her with a fork."

"Keep poking me idiot."

"Ma- Did you just hear that? She called me an idiot." I groaned as I turn to my mom's concerned face, and consecuently my sister does too.

"Pa did you see how she threatened me? She has a fork in her hand." Lily's fake tears were starting to roll, which in turn caused my dad to fret and look at my mom for any hint on what to do. It was working.

Lily and I hid a smirk behind the facade of two annoyed sisters, and soon my parent's strong will dissolved. Lily was about to open her mouth as my mom slammed her hand against the table.

"Fine if you two little insects shut up, we can plan out the day." She whisper yelled at us and finally leaned back into her chair, I could see the vein and even the botox fight against eachother.

"We're not doing the boat, but we are going to watch the cows be milked, then we're going to the pool and we'll watch the horse show, after that we're doing the horse tour around the property and finally we're going fishing. That's today's plan, whoever tries to change it is a dead man." My mom leaned forward and looked at both of us in the eye, how she didnt go crossed eye who knows, but at least my sister and I got what we wanted.

We were running a bit late for the horse show, curtsey of Lily as she tried feeding bread to the ducks after being told not to over 4 times by the farmers. We miraculously acquired front row seats, pretty neatly for the four of us, I dusted off the seat and with a grin sat down. This decision will follow up to be a pretty bad one, as I could smell the horse shit the best from the front row seats, wow, so that's why there was so much space down here. I also couldn't see jack shit from here as the picket fence just had to block my view for the most part.

I sighed and slouched over the seat, trying to ignore the petulant smell coming from beautifuly bred horses. As soon as what seemed the second act started, I could see a guy, pretty much my age with a black cotton button up, snug skinny black jeans and a brown metal belt. God was that a sight for sore eyes, swimming in a pool of manure the most handsomest blonde of them all. A dumb smile plastered on my face as I straighten my back and eyes follow like a hungry lion the zebra like prey.

As he gets on the white horse and another lackey throws a black cowboy hat at him that he so perfectly catches with his pale big veiny hand. On the topic of hands, my mom's hand picks up my jaw from the floor and turns my face towards her.

"Don't chase, be chased." wise words from my CEO beautiful mama, her slight smile and smooth brows gave me the 'go ahead' to keep on daydreaming.

This guy was out of the ordinary.

The white stallion I might add starts to dance and trot so perfectly, like the horse just did it out of a whim. Wisely enough the gorgeous hunk of a horseman also grins and flashes a pearly white to the audience. A collective "AAAH" from the female audience is heard across the bleachers.

Long legs, strong arms, chiseled jawline. He had it all.

Man when I tell you I crossed my legs, not out of habit but out of NEED. My whole uterus cried out, especially now that I was caught in ovulation week. I let out a dreamy sigh, once more as this man kept on making his spins and tricks for the audience.

Tragically, it seemed his showtime was about to conclude, but a man as wise as him knows how to garner and cater for the thirsty souls. As he proceeds to rip out his shirt like some attention starved whore, revealing a rock hard abdodmen and straight airstrip direct to heaven.

God this man had to have a lot of women after him after the shows. I let out a nervous string of laughter as he waved off goodby to the audience.

My mom tossed her hand fan into my hand as my head kept on spinning for this DREAM of a man. A small unappreciative sigh followed as the cute guy left the manure field, as he leaves a black bull enters with another HUNK of a man. Is judgement day here yet? It might just strike me here and now.

This other guy, wearing full white attire and blonde hair seemed to be the previous guy, but with a twist. The whole audience went ballistic for him. I could swear my body was not taking any more hot guys in my line of sight anymore, who knew countryside boys were so fucking hot? For one I did not fucking know until now.

This guy's ability to just jump the bull and keep on making the bull follow him around was amazing. The whole show I was on the edge of my seat, finally assimilating the petulant manure smell into my nostrils. It was amazing watching the guy just run after the bull, and making a whole skit of almost being stomped by it. Even recalling it now is making my breath shorten. Everyone laughed at his antics, it was like those old movies where no one could speak, and it was just laughs on the other end. God it was an amazing show.

The whole gig went exactly as the first one, rock hard abs, a killer v line, pretty face, and even prettier smiles. There is no way these guys have ZERO girls after them or throwing themselves at them. Is there?

Eye candy is just that, eye candy, no more. I wasn't about to bag some hot country boy, even worse A FUCKING COWBOY?

Lunch went amazingly fast as my sister wanted to get on the horse as fast as possible, not out of genuine interest for horses, but wanting to get to the water as fast as possible. I kept on smirking here and there remebering those stupid cowboys that just had to look so perfectly hot. As we finally reached the stables the lackeys were mentioning that we had to wisely choose the horse, and just small talk general. Of course, I had other things on my mind so naturally my two parents just kept on talking killing time.

My eyes though, lazily scanned the barns and looked at three guys in the distance just taking discrete sips of beer as they hauled hay into the cow pen. On a second thought, pretty attractive guys worked here, is this the farm's marketing tactic to get the customers to spend more days and money here? Fuck it's working.

The lackey nodded and holded the reigns to his coworker, who also prepared the seat for you. As they finished tying everything up, your uninterested dad gives you a hand to get on the horse.

"Thanks." I murmured.

The ride around the property was gorgeous, as our horses followed a pearly white one ridden by the tour guide I scanned the whole place. It was such a gorgeous greenery that would make anyone want to become countryside. The lush green vines and bushes, the enourmously diverse butterflies that fluttered around the place, and even better the free range cows that pastured across the fence. It was all such a beautiful sight.

Barrage was coming home from a hard day at work. His hand was on his face covering his eyes as he sat at the red light, he groans when it finally turns green.

He pulls up into the driveway of his home, opening the front door and kicking his boots off at the front.

“Baby! I’m home! You would not believe the day I had,” he says, taking his jacket off and hanging it up, he comes around the corner and doesn’t see Y/n in her usual spot after she gets home from work.

Maybe she’s working late? But Y/n hardly ever works late.

He walks upstairs and opens the crack bedroom door, in the bed he sees his wife all snuggled up under the blankets.

“Baby?” He questions, looking at her and quickly moving to her to see what is the matter. He placed the back of his hand on her forehead. “Baby, you’re burning up.”

“I don’t feel good,” she mumbles under the covers.

“I can tell.” He says, he goes into the bathroom and starts pulling out medications for Y/n to take.

“I-I’ve already tried those,” she tells him.

“Did they do anything?”

“Maybe s-stop my cough for a little bit,” she says, sitting up only for Calvin to come by and grab her shoulders to rest her down.

He got his boots back on along with his coat and rushed out of the house.

Y/n grabs a blanket and wraps herself up in the warmth, she goes to the bathroom where she saw all the medications spread out on the sinks counter. She slightly chuckles and takes a Tylenol and a grave a handful of cough drops and heads back to bed to continue her resting.

Calvin sat in that car rider line for what felt like 30 minutes, (it’s was 10 minutes) he sees his kids Reed his son and Addie his daughter standing outside Reed looking for a familiar car while holding his little sisters hand.

Once the line moved Barrage rolls the window down and Reed walks to his dad’s truck opening the back door for Addie to get in and he gets into the passenger side.

“Come on, come on, buckle up,” Calvin says.

“Why are we in a rush?” Reed asked.

“Your mom is sick and I want to get home, asap.”

“What does asap mean?” Addie asked from the back.

“As soon as possible,” Calvin says, bluntly as he pulls out of the parking lot. The man was panicking like if he didn’t get home in time something bad was going to be happen, and nothing was, the man is dramatic.

When Barrage started driving he might have started breaking some traffic laws, speeding, tailgating, slightly running a red light, which Addie called him out on for not waiting.

“So, daddy, if I have to be somewhere does that mean asap?”

“Yes, baby.”

“So we have to get home because mama is sick.”

“Yep, I just want us to get there, so I can take care of her and help her.”

“Can I help her?” Addie asked.

“I don’t know baby, I don’t want you getting sick as well.”

“I won’t get sick, I promise.”

“Baby, that’s not up to you, it’s up to your body and how mama’s germs might hurt you.”

“I’ll be okay. I’m tough.”

Y/n had her eyes closed and she heard the front door slam shut, she opened her eyes and heard Addie’s voice from downstairs asking for a snack.

Barrage ended up giving Addie some grapes and Reed had gone upstairs to start on his homework.

Barrage goes upstairs and pushes the door at the end of the hallway seeing Y/n in the same place he left her.

“Did you take any of the medicine?”

“I-I took a Tylenol and a few cough drops,” she says. Barrage sat on the edge of the bed caressed her hair, she looked so at peace with Barrage comforting her.

"The kids are home, and they're safe, but how are you feeling?"

"Still worse," she says.

"Baby, why didn't you tell me you were sick this morning?" Calvin asked.

"I don't know, maybe I could go to work and suck it up, but I got up and got ready but the moment I was ready to leave. I started to feel sick and my stomach was hurting and I just called in, I didn't tell you cause I wanted you to keep working."

"And the kids?"

"I told them to take the bus and either me or you would pick them up."

Barrage looks down at her and takes a deep breath. "If you feel sick baby, I wouldn't mind coming home early just to take care of you...do you want some tea?"

"Do we have any?"

"I think we have peppermint, chamomile, ginger and elderberry."

"I'll take chamomile."

"The way you like it?" She just nods at his question, he kissed her forehead and walks out of the bedroom and into the hallway, where he sees Addie heading to her room, but she stops and sees her dad walking towards her, his hand goes to the top of her head and pats her black hair as he continues past her to the kitchen.

Addie looks at the bedroom at the end of the hallway and goes towards it, she sees Y/n laying on the bed, snuggled under the blankets and she opens her eyes seeing Addie coming towards the bed.

"Mama?" Y/n placed her arm out to keep the distance between her and Addie.

"Stay there baby," Y/n says, giving her a soft smile. "I don't want you getting sick too."

"But I want to see you mama."

"I'm right here."

"How'd you get sick?" Addie asked.

"I'm not sure baby, just woke up not feeling great."

"Are you feeling better?"

"Not really, daddy went to go make me some tea, so I can feel somewhat better," she smiles at her daughter.

"Reed said you have a cold."

"I do."

"Addie," Calvin came into the bedroom, placing the mug on Y/n's nightstand and picking Addie up.

"I wanna stay with mama."

"She needs rest, come on, let's go play," Barrage says, carrying his daughter back into her bedroom and placed her down on her rug.

"What did I say?" He reminds her.

"To keep my distance."

"Yes, baby, come on now, how about we play or do you have homework that needs to be done?" He asked. She looks down at her feet.

"Homework." She says.

"Then let's get it done," he says as she opens her backpack and pulls out her pink folder covered in stickers and some pencil designs.

Y/n just felt worse, Barrage sat on the edge of the bed holding Y/n's hand as she was heavy breathing as if she had just ran a marathon, her nose was also stuffed up, so she could hardly breath along with a few small whistles coming from her nose that drove her insane, and every time she sniffled trying to clear it, just felt worse.

Barrage had placed a cold rag on her forehead as she laid on her back, his hand moves from holding her hand to moving under her shirt not trying to do anything but just felt to rest there.

"Cal?"

"It's okay, do you wanna take a bath and try to lower your temp?"

"I-I can t-try," she tries to get up, Barrage took the rag off her forehead and he didn't let her touch her ground, he picks her up and takes her to the bathroom, he kicks the door shut but made sure it was cracked.

He sets her on the counter and turns to turn on the bath, he made sure the water was lukewarm, he turns to help her remove her clothes, her sweatpants, her fluffy socks that were so thick to keep her feet warm, then her hoodie (Barrage's hoodie). He picks her back up and gently placed her in the bath.

"I'm gonna go check on the kids, let me know when you're hungry and I'll make you some soup."

"Okay," her face was red and flushed.

He walks out, cracking the bathroom door and heading out, down the hall he opens Reed's door seeing him play his video games and Addie was in there with him giving him a "make over" with her fake makeup products she had got from Y/n.

Addie was fascinated with Y/n's make up, so she bought her daughter some play make up kits. Reed was use to Addie getting in his way while playing his video game(s). He didn't game mad nor did he throw a fit that Addie was blocking him, he just accepted it.

Calvin smiles and walks fully into the bedroom.

"What are you two doing?"

"I'm playing Fortnite."

"I'm giving, bubby a make over, does he look pretty?" She asked showing off Reed's bare face but she pretended that there were markings on his face.

"Very," he chuckles. He rubs Reed's black hair and kissed the top of Addie's head. "I'll come back and check up on you two." Barrage says, walking back to the bedroom.

Y/n had stood up and grabbed the towel hanging up and Barrage came in and before Y/n got out of the tub before her foot hit the bathmat, Barrage picked her up setting her back on the counter.

"You hungry?" She nods and gives a yawn. "butternut squash, chicken noodle or vegetable soup?"

"Vegetable," she says.

Calvin then grabs some sweatpants, another pair of thick socks, and another one of Calvin's hoodies. She walks to the bed, and Barrage walks back to the kitchen.

"Are you making dinner?" Addie asked coming into the kitchen.

"I am, do you want vegetable soup?"

"Vegetables? No," she made a disgusted face. Barrage chuckles.

"I know, you want chicken noodle?" She just nods and he doesn't need to ask Reed knowing he'll probably want chicken noodle.

8:15PM

Barrage placed both bowls on the table giving his kids grilled cheeses as well, he takes a bowl upstairs and opens the bedroom door seeing the TV was on but at low volume, Y/n asleep facing away from the TV and she was fully on his side of the bed and not hers.

"Baby? Babe," he says, placing the bowl on the nightstand and gently shaking her awake.

"Hm?" She hums.

"Dinner's here," he says. She rubs her eyes and turns over.

"Thank you," she says, smiling and taking the warm bowl into her hands.

"Be careful the bowl is hot," she always careful.

Barrage wanted to make sure his family ate before he did, his kids ate first and then his sick wife, Barrage kissed her temple told her he'd be back and then goes back downstairs to get his bowl, and sit with the kids.

"Is mama feeling better?" Addie asked.

"I don't know baby, she might be," he says.

"Will mama still take me to baseball practice tomorrow?" Reed asked.

"Not sure, bud, if not, I'll take ya'."

Y/n was on her back looking up at the ceiling, Barrage laying next to her, his arm under her head as his other was just holding her tightly. Barrage didn't care if he got sick as long as his wife felt better that's all he cared about.

She looks over at him and caressed his black hair.

"I wish you didn't cuddle me right now."

"Hmm~ I'm just making sure you're comfortable."

"But you'll probably get sick too."

"Don't care."

"I do."

"I don't...now, go to bed," he says, cupping her face and kissing her cheek.

Y/n had woke up first, she was feeling good, her stomach still felt bad, but she got up and heads to the bathroom to take a Dayquil, she goes downstairs and starts fixing breakfast for everyone.

Hey everyone, I wrote a short story about Robert meeting mister Rogers, which I think would be very wholesome and sweet :3 I would love to know what you all think!

Robert Fischer let out an annoyed sigh when the elevator stopped abruptly. He knew that it might take a while before the elevator would be on its way again, there have been problems with it for weeks now. He kept pressing buttons, hoping to jig it awake but it was no use. “It might be a while, we should relax and take a breather,” an elderly man in a red cardigan and sneakers said in a soft voice.

“So you have no idea of the things that are on the line here, of the deals I have to make, the deadlines I need to follow..” Robert listed, shaking his head in disbelief.

“You know what the most important thing in the world is to me right now, Robert” Mister Rogers asked him kindly.

Robert scoffed. “Do tell.”

“Talking to Robert Fischer,” the man answered.

For a few moments, Robert was taken aback. Something about the kindness of this man struck a chord with him. He didn’t want anything from him, he didn’t need anything from him.

He didn’t make Robert worry, he didn’t scold him for missing a meeting, he wanted to talk to him. Even more so, talking to him was the most important thing to him. Tears filled Robert’s eyes and he looked away with a sob.

“I’m sorry..I..” he muttered, embarrassed to the core. “It’s alright, Robert. You’ve been working hard, haven’t you?” Mister Rogers said as he put a hand on Robert’s shoulder.

“Very hard..it’s…it’s all I do. I have to make my father proud,” Robert rasped.

“I bet your father is very proud of you. Just for being you.”

Robert shook his head. “Then you don’t know my father. My mother died when I was eleven years old. ‘Robert, there's really nothing to be said.’ I was eleven,” he bitterly recalls.

Mister Rogers frowns and thinks it over.

“When we love a person, we accept him or her exactly as is: the lovely with the unlovely, the strong with the fearful, the true mixed in with the façade, and of course, the only way we can do it is by accepting ourselves that way. Maybe…maybe your father struggled with that. And that doesn’t make you feel any better of course but…but I think that your father loves you. To the best of his capabilities,” he finally says.

Mister Rogers smiles as he sees that Robert is struggling with a response.

"I'm proud of you for the times you came in second, or third, or fourth, but what you did was the best you had ever done."

15-Day BL Challenge in 1 Night!

I'm more of a lurker than a poster but Tumblr's my fave place to wallow in BLness. My 2nd favorite place is the spreadsheet where I track the shows I've watched (172 completed in just over a year), so @negrowhat 's challenge was irresistible. I'm gonna cram my answers in one post. Here goes!

Fave OG Actor Pairing: Some of the ones I think of as OG are only like 4 years old, so this was tough. And the 18 shows that have gotten my top score aren't very old. But I went through those 18 and picked the oldest, and it was the 2018 Korean microfilm Some More. Because it's so short it's super rewatchable, but even if I wasn't able to watch the whole thing a half dozen times (which I have), I'd still have gone back & watched the sweet moments and sex scene about 25 times (which I have). So I guess my fave OG actor pairing is Park Chan Ung and Kim Joon Bum! How they got me so deeply invested in their love in mere minutes is beyond me, but they did!

Fave Rookie Actor Pairing: Does Japan do the CP thing that Thailand does? I don't think so, but one couple I wish had about a dozen more BL series together lined up are Kouhei Higuchi and Atsuki Mashiko of My Personal Weatherman! Their chemistry was visceral and they're too pretty to be believed.

Side Dish That Should've Been the Main Course: While I enjoyed the main pairing a lot, they were nothing compared to the crazy rollercoaster side plot (how'd it go from so funny to SO dark to so sexy to so sweet and wholesome like that??) of Vegas/Pete from KinnPorsche!

Fave Ship Dynamic: Obvs from answers 2 & 3 I am not against D/s ships at ALL. Also a sucker for tough-but-submissive-bodyguard with mafia-brat-prince. Honestly I like tons of different dynamics from innocent to toxic, but one that gives me major butterflies is a guy who thinks he's straight but when confronted with the idea of liking another guy, doesn't have a macho freakout or run away, just kind of straightforwardly & sincerely searches his feelings until he figures it out. And then takes care of his baby. Why's that so HOT and sweet? Some of my fave examples: Pete/Ae in Love By Chance, Le Jian/Amber from DNA Says Love You, and Ida/Aoki from My Love Mix-Up!

Biggest Flop: This is expectations vs. execution, right? There's loads of shows I've abandoned, some I've stuck with for no good reason, etc., that are way worse than what I consider my personal biggest let-down. I was so enamored of Perth from LBC that I assumed he could do no wrong, and the bully-to-lover, rich/poor pairings often do it for me. So I guess I just assumed Dangerous Romance would be amazing, and it was REALLY good for a couple episodes. It wasn't the worst thing I ever saw, but so much of it just ... felt ... flat. Very surprising.

Fave Line From Your Fave Series: Well I know my fave series--Cherry Magic Thailand was the most perfect, entrancing, heartwarming series EVER, OMG, it was staggeringly good and stuck the landing in a way few shows have managed. I can't really think of one standout line--the script was so on point & there were HUNDREDS of sweet tingly moments. There were some epic ones in ep11 tho: When Achi says "The voice inside your head is so loud" and Karan (the boldest he's ever been) replies "Don't worry; soon you won't be able to read my mind anymore." (But then clearly uses that power one more time to gain the sweetest nonverbal consent EVER.) Then, Karan: "Do you regret losing your power?" Achi: "I'd regret not loving you." (OMG how I squealed.)

Fave Villain: This was so tough. An over-the-top villain I loved to hate (and an actor I loved from his sweetie-pie green-flag role in SCOY) was obvs Heng Asavarid as Chalothon in The Sign. But an actor who was so excellent at being loathsome and malicious toward the main couple, with just enough of a redemption arc that I didn't totally despise the character by the end (but did hate most of the way through): Park Hae In as Eun Ji (Jae Won's ex) in The Eighth Sense. It was a typical "faen fatale" role but so well done. So a tie between 2 totally different takes on the destructive ex.

The Trope You Hate Except When It's "This Series": OK, "hate" is a strong word for how I feel about the drop-of-rain-makes-you-ill so love-interest-takes-care-of-you trope. It's OK. But holy SHIT is it overused. Holy shit. I sigh resignedly when I realize we're going there. EXCEPT. When P'Phayu goes to visit Rain in Love in the Air when he's sick, and his version of caregiving? Forcibly applying medicine in the form of a rectal suppository. It is so funny, weirdly sexy, very in line with their dynamic (doesn't get in the way of their romance moments later at all), & it shoves a big middle finger up the overoveroverused sick-bed trope.

Most Visually Pleasing Love Scene: Okay, THE scene in The Sign is the clear winner in my & many people's books. But there are so many runners-up: the post-race one in Love in the Air. Just about every one in Pit Babe (both couples) & My Personal Weatherman. (A lot of other faves don't quite qualify as visually or emotionally pleasing--lustfully pleasing should be a 3rd category in this challenge!)

Most Emotionally Pleasing Love Scene: Again, I have a clear winner: Cherry Magic Thailand. So full of emotion, so well deserved, so everything. Sigh. But lots of runners-up: same scene in The Sign, both kissing scenes in DNA Says Love You (tame but soo emotionally satisfying), Ray & Sand's camper reunion in Only Friends, the post-prison love scenes for both couples in Kiseki: Dear to Me, the 1st time in I Feel You Linger in the Air ...

Breakup That Should've Stayed Broken Up: Maybe it's because I try to be choosy in what I watch all the way thru or maybe I'm a big softy who tends to root for every couple no matter how lame. In all my completed shows, I could only think of 2 breakups where I wasn't at all invested in them getting back together (and maybe against it): Tian/Poon, What Zabb Man and Top/Mew, Only Friends.

Wedding You Wish You Had an Invite To: If we're talking weddings that actually appeared in the show, Achi and Karan's in Cherry Magic Thailand, obvs! If it's hypothetical weddings, I'd be desperate to go to one of ANY of the characters in Playboyy! I'd wear a bulletproof vest & bring my own flask of booze, but it would be the trashy chaos-filled social event of a lifetime.

Why do you want to fight BEN from treasure planet?

Oh boy. LEMME JUST RANT A LIL’—

He’s just rather… abrasive? Granted, Ben in the original Treasure Island was also loud and obnoxious, but I think the difference between them is the tone they both brought to their respective stories. Ben from Treasure Island was funny in that he said outlandish phrases and kept trying to touch people (which I admit I LOVE that they kept about B.E.N.), but his character wasn’t ever explicitly used for comic relief. He was more tragic that comedic, even to the very end of his story. Jim at the end of the book tells that he spent all his money at once and was homeless again in just a few weeks. It’s funny-ish, because you’d think he’d be a bit smarter with his money after being marooned for 3 years, but mostly it’s tragic because he’s still wandering and poor with no one, even though all that treasure was rightfully his.

B.E.N. on the other hand is blatantly used for comic relief, which I really don’t think was necessary. It’s not like the story was exceptionally dark up till then. Captain Amelia’s dry wit, Doppler’s bumbling earnestness, Jim’s teenage sass, Silver’s crude pirate-y commentary, and even Morphy are all plenty of fun! They seamlessly inject comedy into the story without taking you out of it. But when B.E.N. is funny, it’s just “WOOO HE’S CRAAAAAAZYYYYYY” comedy. Granted, a lot of his one-liners are really funny! I quote him often, even though I don’t care for him very much. Nevertheless, some lines just feel out of place in the story, and he acts so much like a person that you wonder why he’s even a robot (he’s robot to explain why he’s still around after 100 years [yes, I get that he’s programmed extremely well. But still!]). For example: “WAS I EVER DANCING WITH A DROID NAMED LUPÉ?!” just SCREAMED out in the middle of the moment when it feels like our heroes are losing. Silver has gone full dark side, showing no mercy; Doppler and Amelia are tied up, apparently hopeless, and Jim is being used as a human GPS, being lead for all the world like a dancing bear (geddit?). If B.E.N. was gonna shout something, it didn’t have to be so uselessly funny. Just him shouting would be inappropriate enough in that moment. But nope, because he’s voiced by Martin Short, Mr. Comedy Man, B.E.N. has to be 80% idiot, 20% accidentally useful. The more accidentally useful a character is, the closer to Jar Jar Binks they are. And I cannot stand Jar Jar Binks.

OPPOSITION: He’s just that stupid because his brain is gone! He’s smart at the end of the movie! — Yes… but he’s still obnoxious. He’s a little better, but talks just a little too long. His “I know you don’t like hugging, but get ready cuz I’m gonna hug ya—“ THAT was actually humorous and kinda sweet. Then when Jim hugs him back, it’s wholesome! But then they have B.E.N. go on to cry (badly) and ask for a tissue—AS JIM IS REALIZING SILVER IS LEAVING. Maybe I’m an idiot, but I thought that exchange was funny and wholesome and I wish B.E.N. had been reeled back a bit in his surprised reaction to getting a hug back. His surprise is warranted, but dang.

That’s all just a very long way of saying that I wish he’d been played a little quieter (still loud, but quieter), and that he’d been more purposefully helpful. Ben from Treasure Island was like a geode. He was crusty on the outside, but showed himself to be actually quite clever (though not financially savvy) and basically secured the treasure all by himself. He just needed a ship and a crew. B.E.N. from Treasure Planet was like a Wish.com quartz crystal. A rather useless fellow dressed up in a shiny comedy crust. “I have to pee!” (A thing robots can’t even do?) —BOOM! Hiding place! “I like this fresh air door I have!” —BOOM! Gateway to the center of the planet. The only time I really like that dynamic is when he’s lamenting that he can’t remember something super important (the booby traps), and then immediately after Jim reinstalls his brain, he’s like “HOLY FRICK THE BOOBY TRAPS—“.

Again, this is all just my opinion! I don’t fully hate him, and he is funny, but I think they over exaggerated him in an attempt to appeal to kids and they just didn’t need to do that! If they’d dialed him back just a tad, I think it would’ve made that last part of the movie feel less like a tonal rollercoaster. What do y’all think?

We had a lot of thoughts about these songs while working with the lyrics, so we decided to do a mini album review! Please enjoy listening to each songs as we reflect on the lyrics and composition~

Up Stairs

Mod Yumi: A very gentle, comforting song, as expected from a Minato/Seiya duet. The composers did an excellent job capturing the feeling of nostalgia; this somehow feels like a song I've known and loved for years. The lyrics are perfect--I love the references to the bridge scene from s1 ep10. The line "I had a place where my heart could relax" is so precious <3 Overall, I don't think it's the strongest song on the album, but it's definitely one of my top faves!

Mod Optimus Prime: A heartfelt way to start off the album! It's very sweet and mellow, which of course really fits the fact that, y'know, the song is about Minato and Seiya's relationship! It's more or less just a straight callback to all of season one, but it's really touching how (both literally and figuratively) they come together at the end there.

Crossover

Mod Yumi: This song is so excessively dramatic and I kinda love it?? It does NOT sound like a song that ties into a soothing, chill slice of life archery anime and I am here for it. But I'm also weak for synth horns; give me a cheesy overexuberant fake brass section and I'm sold. Bonus points for all of the archery references and unnecessarily homoerotic lyrics. (And special shoutout to Mod Optimus Prime, our resident FukuJun stan, for helping me with the color codes because I was completely lost lmao)

Mod Optimus Prime: Probably the character duo song with the most...attitude to it? And sass, which of course, fits these two incredibly troublesome boys. To me, it's almost like the two are having a back-and-forth with each other while also brazenly admitting to each other just how tangled up they are—admittedly a reoccurring theme for the duet songs, but that doesn't make it any less cute, I think!

Ari no Mama de

Mod Yumi: Very cute and wholesome, doesn't really do it for me in terms of composition though. I do think this is the most well-acted song on the album. Having heard both of these seiyuu sing as other characters (notably Suzuki Ryouta as Bisco from Sabikui Bisco and Yano Shougo as Mafuyu from Given), I was blown away by how different they both managed to sound! Changing your voice to that extent while singing is not an easy thing to do. I was also tickled by the fact that they both noticeably sang less well than I know they're both capable of singing, because it suited the characters better to do so. Listening to this song, you wouldn't think either of these singers are particularly talented, but that fact is proof in and of itself that they ARE talented. Mad respect for the skill displayed here!

Mod Optimus Prime: Unsurprisingly, sunshine boy Ryouhei and the other local cheery boy have an easygoing and slow duet! I can't really say too much aside from the fact that the lyrics are both just really cute and earnest—you can see Ryouhei's influence here, haha.

Growing Up

Mod Yumi: Very cute, very catchy! I enjoy this song a lot. As a side note, I find it interesting that besides Minato, Nanao is the only character to be featured in two songs. One of the things I like about Nanao is that he's characterized mainly through his relationships with other characters. Sometimes when we see this happening it's more to do with lazy character writing (and lbr, it usually happens with female characters). But in this case, it actually builds our understanding of the character, rather than just casting him into the side character role of 'only here to develop the MCs'. To me it's always felt like he's the most put-together of the team, watching over everyone else and giving them a nudge in the right direction, while blending in so effortlessly they don't suspect a thing, like the social chameleon he is. Oops, this just turned into me gushing about Tsurune character writing lol. The song's nice idk what else to tell ya

Mod Optimus Prime: Also yet another honest song—a rare thing for Kacchan! It's obviously about Kaito and Nanao's close friendship and the further development during season two, so it's fitting we also get to see more of Nanao's (somewhat hidden) stubborn side here. Not to meme here, but really shows how their relationship fits the, "the more things change, the more things stay the same," aka them supporting ("protecting") each other through thick and thin.

Gekkou

Mod Yumi: I'm not the biggest fan of the composition of this song. I can't put my finger on why, but the main melody isn't working for me (and doesn't work great for Asashin's voice either tbh). That said, the backing track lives rent free in my head, I'm OBSESSED. And I love the dreamy feel of the lyrics! Whereas the others feel more like a dialogue between the singers, this one feels like a poem. The ethereal quality of the music and the lyrics draws me back to Masa-san's introduction, when he was a cryptid/ghost (lmao) appearing in the dead of night to guide Minato back to archery

Mod Optimus Prime: I've only heard Asanuma Shintarou (Masaki's VA) sing in a higher register, so this was both surprising and pleasant—it's quite soothing to hear! It's also fitting that the only Real Adult™️ with bounds of experience compared to these young'uns gets a really poetic and dramatic song with, of course, lots of moon references.

Kyoumei

Mod Yumi: THIS IS THE BEST ONE. This song is a legit bop omg. Leave it to luck life to give us a character song that exceeds typical character songs! I also love the meaning of the lyrics; it almost feels like a new angle on the Shuu/Minato relationship in a way? Of course we know their history and their affectionate rivalry, but we don't really see either of them putting into words how they feel about each other (especially Shuu-- I had to laugh at the line "we didn't need mundane words"; like no dude we could actually use a few more words from you, given your track record of communicating approximately 7% of your thoughts smh). This song puts into words how much they mean to each other and how, despite their complicated history and rivalry, they still care about each other.

Mod Optimus Prime: Luck Life actually composed this song, which really shows in the style (that catchy guitar, anyone?)! I adore the constant references to "sounds"—while a bit cheesy and on those nose, of course, it fits these two to a T and calls back to that season one finale. Again, not that any of the songs are really subtle, but "We might be apart, but I believe we'll someday return / So we didn't need mundane words" really just sums up their unique friendship/rivalry. Also, love how the two only sing together at the end: really fits with the song's whole message/theme about the two being separated, but eventually reuniting! How sweet.

Since I never seem to have made a post about my top Ed Edd n Eddy episodes, here it is! 

Most of my favorites come from the later seasons, sorry if that’s a disappointment to some.

#5 May I have this Ed?

This one is just cute, with the added bonus of Eddy basically declaring himself done with girls at the end. Between Eddy pretending to be way cooler than he actually is, Edd being terrified out of his mind over a dance, and Ed just having the time of his life, what’s not to like? The stuff happening in the background is almost funnier than the focus lmao. I wish Eddy hadn’t made them wear that ridiculous facial hair get-up, but I get it, it’s part of his character to fake puberty. Just… Eddy why.

#4 Hand Me Down Ed

Truly a very funny episode, but it is a little awkward to watch. The second-hand embarrassment is real. Someone please get Double Dee some clothes… Though, Rolf opening the door and just belting out in song was one of the moments that made me laugh the hardest in the whole series. I’m ever-fascinated by Kevin Lordi’s theory on the boomerang bringing out repressed traits rather than opposite traits, which is really what places this episode on my list.

#3 Every Which Way But Ed

What’s not the love about this episode? Baby Eds, Flashback gags, heavy-set characters that aren’t being made fun of, lines like “Zappity-Zap-Zap,” “You bet your sweet bippy I did!” All of it is just so wholesome and great. The storytelling is pretty cool too, we get to see the reasons behind a lot of small details we never would have thought twice about. But gosh the sequence with baby eds is too cute to leave off this list, I cry from the cuteness every time.

#2 Thick as an Ed

This has got to be one of the funniest episodes ever, which is why I’ve placed it #2. The humor is spot on, the writing is phenomenal, and the voice actors are truly the proverbial cherry on top of this delicious cake of an episode. The visual gag of the color falling off Double Dee from the stench has me in tears every time, and he and Ed’s little verbal spat is just *chef’s kiss* Literally nothing gets done but it’s far from a boring episode.

#1 Fistful of Ed

This one is number one on my list purely for the characterization and the writing. To have Edd become the school bully on accident was such a bold move, and they pulled it off so well. I love that they didn’t go a cliché route of having his friends back him up. Ed is actually scared of him, and Eddy, well… Eddy’s just an instigator, taking advantage of the situation for his own gain and not at all helping his suffering friend, in typical Eddy fashion. And to have Jimmy be the one who helps Edd in the end was a twist that I never saw coming, but it fit so well. This episode made me stop and truly appreciate Jimmy’s character. Plus, the ending sequence when Eddy tells the Kankers off was actually really nice. Overall, a very well-done episode.

My first Writeblr tag game!!

Thanks so much for the tag @mthollowell-writes! This is one of my first ever tag-games, so I'm pumped. Also, this made me realize I rly need to do a WIP intro for my main project. It's a dark fantasy/horror with some romance, too. The working title is Fucked Up Fairytale. That aside, let's goooooo

1) What motivates you to write?

Anything and everything! Writing is my coping mechanism, for good times and bad. It helps me keep hold of happy feelings and release negative ones. 

2) A line/short snippet of your writing that you are most proud/happy of. If not maybe share a line of someone else's work you love (just please credit them)

I have multiple WIPs, but I'm going to refer to the one I plan on actually turning into a book. The working title is Fucked Up Fairytale. That may undergo revisions. Anyhow, I'll share two lines/snippets, if I may! Mainly because the first one is very short indeed. Here it is:

I braced myself for stupidity, and he didn’t let me down. —This is in the main character's (Margot's) narrative inner voice during a conversation with her little brother. 

And here's the other one, same chapter, same conversation! I feel like I may have gone a little overboard with Margot's world-weariness, but I kinda like it:

“The world I dream of has me making six figures at a job where my boss doesn’t need me to show him my tits,” I said, a chill creeping into my tone. “It has me going home at a reasonable hour so I can watch TV and fall asleep with a bag of spicy chips, preferably next to a spouse who doesn’t mind that they make me gassy.”

Neither of us spoke for a couple beats. Then, softly, my brother asked, "And where's the magic in that?"

"Nowhere, Callie. That's kind of the point."

3) Which OC makes you smile every time you think/talk about them and what are they like?

That would apply to Margot's love interest from Fucked Up Fairytale. He's, um… special. To me, and in general. Seeing as he's one of the Folk, it would be unwise to share his name, especially since not even Margot knows it as of right now. He calls himself the Huntsman, so that'll work for now.

He's this rather delicate-looking youngish man; slender, short and long-haired—he's quite pretty, really. And he's the smuggest, most self-satisfied dork you've ever met, but in a sweet, non-threatening way. I just love his and Margot's more wholesome exchanges. They clash a lot; she's a recent university graduate, has been a skeptic all her life and didn't mean to get roped up into any supernatural stuff, and he's this forest-dwelling fairy-like entity. But they end up being really good for each other, despite (or perhaps because of) their differences. Even though their dynamic starts off based purely on physical attraction, it grows into something more and their interactions really feel cathartic at times.

4) What process of writing do you enjoy the most?

I love what happens shortly after getting the idea for something. It's like a little twitch in the brain that grows and grows and it's just… awesome. And I'm not actually doing anything at that stage, so it's also the easiest step. Also, I just love writing dialogue.

5) What part of writing do you think you are the best at? (Yes stroke your own ego it's okay)

I think that's also writing dialogue! Not much else to say there. Oh, and nature descriptions sometimes. I've been told my nature descriptions are beautiful.

6) What is something in the writeblr community is most enjoyable?

How passionate everyone is! We all do the same thing, we write, and we all love doing it. And there's such an undertone of positivity to it all, of openness. That's really nice.

7) A writing tool/device you use that helps you with writing? (It could be speech to text, a writing program etc)

Oof. This one's too hard for me. I'm honestly struggling with a lot of writing software so… I don't have a good answer to that. 

8) A piece of worldbuilding that you like in your own story? (It could be the magic system, a particular place in the story, a law etc)

The majority of Fucked Up Fairytale takes place in a single location. It's a magical forest that is its own entity, almost deity-adjacent. Certain characters worship it to gain its protection and power, but it can also be dangerous, trapping humans and turning them into so something they're… not. 

I just really like that forest! I enjoy describing it, I enjoy creating new creatures it may be harboring, I enjoy lending this seemingly inanimate idyllic environment a personality that kind of shines through in a lot of scenes. I almost wish it were real. Almost.

9) What piece of advice would you say to encourage others to write if they are having a rough patch?

I'm with you.

That's all I, or anyone, can really offer, I believe. I've dealt with month-long dry spells, really horrible ones. I know it's shitty, I know it sucks. My advice, if I had any, would be to force yourself to write anyways. It's the only way to get back into it, and you should never ever give up writing. Writing is worth it.

Well, obviously I'm gonna have to mention @prismatic-bell who once wrote a wonderful thirty-part fanfic to one of my stories and is, in fact, amazing. Xe has contributed greatly to a lot of my stories and I will be forever grateful for that. Also @rehnwriter who helped me set up my blog because I'm bad at internet stuff and need constant surveillance.

I'm not into any other groups so i don't have any bias lines for other groups but it's just about jm.

I actually connected to him as a person first and that's how i decided he's my bias lol. I actually tried other members before jm too, but as suga said there's something about jm that tugs at your heartstrings. It did and i never looked anywhere else. I don't have bias wrecker cause just like you this bias ain't wrecking.

I didn't know he was a main dancer i only knew these men dance and sing since i wasnt much aware of kpop at that time but everything i found about jm after biasing him has only made me love him more. It keeps growing. I love everything about him. I love his voice it's addictive. even his laugh is addictive it sounds really good. Even some songs that i already like sounds more good in his voice to me.

As someone who has loved dance all their life jimin's dance gives me different kind of satisfaction. Watching him dance is really like an art in motion. The execution of emotions, his body control, his body lines, expression everything is so perfect to me. His personality is just cherry on top but that's actually the main factor of loving him for me. he's got everything that I'd love in someone and maybe that's why he's my bias. getting to know jimin was one of the best things that's happened to me. I'll love him forever. He's really special.

I love Jimin's dancing the most too, he's so amazing!

I feel this way about Jungkook - like every day I like him more! I can relate! And Jimin is my second favorite... Jikook and Jinkook are my babies <3
