cute and absolute
pairing: jenna ortega x actress!fem reader
word count: 1.8k+
summary: it doesn't go unnoticed that you are one of the only people that jenna lets her walls down with.
based off request!
-
Where Jenna only accepts r's touch ??? Tyy
-🥝
-
Jenna is squirming in the car, screaming at her friend to drive faster so she can eat.
“I’ve been on set since 6 fucking AM! It’s been 10 hours and I’m hungry! I skipped breakfast for this damn shit! What the hell do you mean you can’t get a burrito right now? All I want is a damn burrito and you’re telling me that we have to pick up Y/N, our friend, and first buy the book you wanted because it’s closer? CLOSER?” She screams, gripping her knuckles that were already white enough.
Jacob, one of Jenna’s friends laughs hard, a little threatened but not enough to be stopped. “It’ll only take 15 minutes at most! It’s more convenient, the bookstore is along the way and closer to our location, then we can just buy any burrito you want aft-”
“CLOSER? YOU KNOW WHAT’S CLOSER?” Jenna throws her arms up in dramatic effect, huffing, “Me going insane! My sanity is at 10% right now, and if I don’t get my burrito this instant, I’m going to crash this car and fucking run to the nearest place that has a burrito. DON’T touch me!” She yells, smacking her friend's arm away because she cannot think properly at this moment.
“I’m STARVING, and I’m a woman who needs food to survive in this film ECONOMY! Can’t you drive any faster?-"
Jenna suddenly hears your voice outside from the slightly opened car window. She peeks her eyes out, her hands holding the glass. She suddenly sees you, looking sweet, happy, and perfectly sane as you come out of your driveway. “Hi, Jenna!” You exclaim, completely unaware that she was just ballistic for a burrito 5 seconds ago.
Her frustrated demeanor melts off suddenly, a goofy grin on her face as she sees just how happy you are. She brings her hand up, waving. “Hi!”
She just forgot how hungry she was and the person she just was less than a minute ago. Why was she so upset that she had to wait longer so Jacob could pick you up? She stopped feeling the need to bang her head on the nearest wall.
“Jacob was telling me that you had a long time on set, something about how I had to save him because you were going crazy, so I got you some snacks.” You pull out a bag filled with goodies from your pantry.
The man that was driving stuttered as Jenna slowly turned to him, “I did not say it like that.”
“Oh yeah?” You ask, grabbing your phone and swiping and squinting. “It says here, “Please save me from this woman, she’s acting like a toddler that just shit her pants. SOS, crying crying emoji..” Um, oh and here. “This girl is so dramatic, complaining about not getting her burrito, she's wailing in the back seat. Please save her.” Don’t lie to me.” You state with a grin as Jenna munches on chips.
He rolls his eyes, grumbling.
Jenna interrupts, “Okay, Jacob, you traitor.”
“You cannot be talking, slapping my arm away when I try to calm you down but Y/N being some sort of angel and making you all cuddly.”
The fuming brunette slowly turns back to normal as you slither your arm around hers, laying your head on her shoulder. “Glad to know you love me. How was filming without me?”
Jenna sniffs, letting you ruffle her hair, “One of the directors was trying to show us how the scene should play out, the popcorn in the microwave caught on fire.”
You nod, awkwardly as you look around. “Was it your popcorn?” You guess.
She huffs and sinks into you, “Yes, and now I'm starving."
-
Aliyah is losing her mind. First, her father was fixing the doorbell, and now it seems to be ringing on its own. Now, her older sister won’t cooperate as she tries to steady Jenna’s legs that are in the air. The brunette shrieks, causing Aliyah to pull away and make her tumble.
Aliyah groans, “This is the thirteenth time already! Let me make this clear, you asked me to help you do this random one handed handstand, but you won’t let me even touch you so I can get you into the right pose? You’re so weird.”
Jenna shrugs, her head on the floor as she hangs upside down from the couch. “I am letting you touch me!”
“No you aren’t! You start shrieking and then falling face flat when I do! How the hell are we going to make this work if you won’t cooperate?”
The two siblings hear some shuffling as you crawl through the dog door, fitting yourself in. They blink, staring at you as you wiggle yourself through and throw a hand in the air, showing that you brought food. “Burritos!”
“Y/N! What are you doing? Go through the back door you doofus! You could’ve just knocked!”
You finally manage to squirm your way in as you stand up, brushing some leaves off of you and throwing them into the trash. You flip your hair, crawling through doggy doors were one of your talents. You signal her Jenna to hear you out as you put up a finger, “First of all, I was ringing the doorbell like, five thousand times, then I knocked, and no one was answering! I’m not letting the food get cold.” You pause, looking at Jenna who is currently staring at you upside down and hanging from the couch. “What on earth are you doing?”
“Trying to do a one handed handstand.”
“Oh, wait. Oh! I know how to do that!” Happily, you hand her sister the bag with burritos and tacos, before collapsing to the floor.
There was awkward silence as Jenna and Aliyah stared at each other, “Um..”
Jenna always knew you as the silly girl across the block. Even after 5 years of friendship, she thinks you’ve just gotten sillier.
“That wasn’t it, I haven’t done it in a year. Hold on.” You position yourself, slowly doing a handstand. Jenna can see your shirt slowly rising up and showing your stomach as you keep yourself steady. You lift an arm off and hang it up. “Did I do it?”
Jenna giggles and flops down the couch. “Yeah. I think so.” She crawls behind you and picks up your body that was upside down.
“Hey!”
-
“Okay, slow and steady..” You say softly, squinting and holding Jenna’s legs, making sure she was in the right position. “Aliyah, try steadying her while she puts one arm up.”
“No way, nope.” She argues, eating her taco, “She literally kept shrieking when I tried to and starting kicking and squirming.”
“She’s not shrieking right now?”
“Well you’re just different I guess, you’re her best friend, so..”
You raise your eyebrows, a smile tugging on your lips as you tickle Jenna and make her fall on you. “You just love me, don’t you!?” You giggle, hugging her as she squeals and nuzzles against you.
-
It was late in the evening as you got changed into pajamas and flopped onto your bed. Nights like this always felt better, where you would switch on a show, read a book, or call friends. You decide to check some emails, looking over some asking for you to star in movies, replying to companies that want you as their ambassador, you click out of the tab.
A small ding sounds on your phone as you see that Emma had texted you.

You laugh at yourself as you open the link, the article named ‘Escalating Relationships, Cute or Absolute?’
You roll your eyes and scroll down.
Fans say that they’ve picked up on the actress’s behavior, scooting away from castmates who’ve gotten too close during interviews and only staying close to one or two close ones. Not that she’s uncomfortable, taken from the way she seems unfazed most times. But, it is noticed that she seems like a bundle of happiness with individuals. A clip right here shows her with a fellow castmate, Y/N L/N, both starred in the famous series, Wednesday. It is caught on how Ortega was silently making sure that her friend was okay during an interview that had turned a little more uncomfortable for the other girl, squeezing her hand and clinging onto her. It seemed to have worked, for how the girl began to relax. What a friendship they have!
The tiny moments of comfort and physical touch occur in other interviews too, as well as cute Instagram comments on each other's posts that come off as playful flirting. Some comments are pasted here.
Jenna Ortega commenting on Y/N’s post of a photoshoot press for Wednesday last year in September:
jennaortega: That’s my girl
Another one on a post of the girl just doing an Instagram photo dump this year in March:
jennaortega: if you squint closely you can see me doing the dishes for my wife in the third photo
jennaortega: i will take your last name if i have to
jennaortega: my woman, i love you
Y/N L/N commenting on a post for Jenna’s Adidas campaign last year in November:
y/n_l/n: i will be the only one applauding the longest for u
y/n_l/n: tis is why i got adidas merch
Fast forward to Christmas with a dump of Jenna’s favorite people (Y/N included) in December last year:
y/n_l/n: I love you this is why I wanted to bake the turkey
y/n_l/n: merry christmas to my favorite person
Another one to a selfie of Jenna posted this year in April:
y/n_l/n: oh i’m interested, what’s your number?
y/n_l/n: sign my contract to be with me forever? comes with a long time of house wife chores!
-
What do you think? Are they just really good friends with the cutest flirting? Or secretly dating? Answer us down in our poll, cute, or absolute?
Final vote with 20K votes
Cute: 24%
Absolute: 76%
—
carrots4life: but like, their relationship is both cute and absolute! why aint that a option?
mangofrosties: they are def dating istg i’ve never seen them both this happy unless they are together
-
You smile, looking away from your laptop as you kick your feet. You do feel like Jenna had a soft spot for you, she always hugged you first, tried picking you up, falling asleep with each other on set. But she was just your best friend, you would all say to interviewers.
The door slightly creaks as you turn, smiling. “Hey baby, I think you should see this.”
Jenna flops on the bed with you, letting you cuddle her as she kisses you and reads your screen, a goofy grin on her face.
“I guess they caught on that we might be more than friends. I mean, it's not a lie that we are best friends, girlfriends is just a small little detail."
“Cute and absolute.”

Stress Ball - CC
Pairing: Caitlin Clark x Reader
Summary: The little things you do for Caitlin when she is stressed during a game (based on THIS request)
Warnings: Stressed CC
Word Count: 1.6k
Sweetbans Masterlist
AN: What I would give to be able to do this for her.
The expectations that the world has on Caitlin are unrealistic. Still in her rookie year, people have higher expectations on her than they do veterans who have been playing 5+ years in the league. Now that is not to say Caitlin is not capable because she very much is but the last thing she needs is someone else adding on to the expectations she has on herself.
When you first met Caitlin it was always in passing, playing against each other in tournaments and things like that. It wasn't until you both got drafted to Indiana that you really started to get to know each other. The two of you immediately hit it off in training camp and it was right before the first preseason game when you asked her out. To say things moved fast was an understatement.
It's now 4 months into the season and it has felt like you have been together for years. Being with Caitlin came so easy it was almost scary. Yet every time it felt like it should have gone up in flames, it didn't. The two of you would figure it out together and grow. You complemented each other well.
That leads you to right now. The Fever are playing the Lynx for the last time this season and everything is going wrong for the rookie star. At the end of the first quarter she has no points, 1 rebound and 1 assist. That is including the 2 personal fouls and 2 turnovers.
Everyone breaks from the first quarter huddle and Caitlin doesn't stand up. She just sits there her Gatorade towel bitten between her teeth. She loves those things more than she loves you (not actually but you tease her about it all the time). You can tell she is stuck in her mind which is exactly where she shouldn't be in a time like this. Down 10 after the first, the team needs her to not be stressed but locked in.
You grab your towel and place it around her shoulder. Usually you would pull at her towel and annoy her but seeing her state you decide against it.
Caitlin doesn't look up at you and continues to chew on her towel. You place your hand on her head, moving it to the side of it to sooth other her hair when she leans her head into your hand.
Nothing is said, nothing needs to be said. You know where she is at and she knows you know what she is at.
The buzzard rings and Caitlin finally stands. You remove the towel you put around her shoulders and she puts down her towel as the two of you walk back out to the floor.
The second quarter goes a little better. Caitlin gets on the board with a quick 4 points and it seems like there is momentum building. That is until things get heated between Temi and Alana.
You know Caitlin hates when she is starting to build momentum and something stops it. With a little confrontation on the floor, Caitlin becomes visibly frustrated and she throws her hands up in the air. walking in the other direction. You first help Aliyah grab Temi as the teams are told to go to their respective benches while the refs watch the replay.
Cait is standing on the floor with her hands on her hips, completely unamused. You walk over to her and push her to the bench. While walking behind her, your hands massage her shoulders before coming down to pinch her waist.
"Don't worry, your rhythm will be there when we get back on," you say softly to her. She nods once.
You never want to overstep when it comes to comforting Caitlin on the court. And you would say you do a pretty good job of making sure that you don't but today seems like one of those days where you just can't do enough.
At the half, Caitlin has been doing better but you can tell by her mannerisms that she is not playing near to the standard she is holding herself to.
As everyone is walking back out to the court to stay warm, you grab Caitlin's arm before heading out of the tunnel.
"Hey," you say but she won't make eye contact with you. "Look at me."
When she doesn't, you know she is internally fighting with you and she doesn't want to give in.
You grab her face and force her to look at you. You want to say something, give her encouraging words but know that would only piss her off so you settle with kissing her on the nose.
The action earns you a little smile from her and you let go of her. She begins walking back out and you give her a little slap on the butt.
"Hey!" She squeals causing you to laugh and run out in front of her onto the court.
The third quarter is better. You can see she is playing more like herself. She has made the decision to out the team on her back and carry everyone to the finish line. Everything was going much better until she is fouled and the refs don't make the call.
Her arms come up in a 'how did you not see that' motion and you are quick to grab her arm. The ball goes back the opposing way and Phee draws the foul on Lyss. Everyone is just standing around while the refs discuss something and you notice Caitlin getting frustrated with her hair. You look over at her redoing it for the second time in a row as she lets out a annoyed puff.
You walk over to your girl and pull her hair out of her last attempt. She is about to protest but you are forcing her to bend over so you can collect all of her hair. She giggles, surprising you as you allow her to flip back up.
Now standing begin her as you sooth out the bumps and tie the hair tie around it.
"What is so funny?" You ask as you finish and she turns around smiling. The refs finally walk back over and give Phee her first free throw shot.
"I drooled," Caitlin says as you both look down at the court where sure enough, there was a little pile of Caitlin's spit.
"Ewww gross," you say teasing her and she pushes you playfully. She uses her shoes to clear out it out and you help her. When one of the court-side workers see the two of you trying to clear something up, they run over and wipe it with a towel.
"Careful there, she might be contagious," you tease as the guy looks at you confused. Caitlin just rolls her eyes and pushes you again.
You finish helping her with her hair but bringing her little headband back up to keep the little fly-aways out of her face.
"All better," you say and she looks at you with a little smile.
"Thank you," she says.
"Now let's win this game," you say and push her back to the back court to get the inbound pass.
The game comes down to the wire as the Fever somehow manage to pull out the win. Caitlin and Aliyah head to the pressor after while you and the rest of the team get to head back to the locker.
They are almost through the pressor when someone asks about the interactions between you and Caitlin.
"Caitlin, how do you manage stress when you are on the floor? It seems like you weren't playing like your usual self starting the game off but then came back and dominated the second half." The reported says.
Aliyah looks over at Caitlin with a knowing look.
"Ya, how do you manage your stress on the floor?" Aliyah says egging Caitlin on.
"Well, I have great teammates that know how to lift me up. The success of the team doesn't rely on one person. The win didn't come with me in the second half - ya sure, I helped and contributed but it first started off with Aliyah in the first half. She kept us in the game until I was able to heat up a little." Caitlin says, not specifically mentioning you. Regardless of if she mentions you or not, she knows there are going to be a disgusting amount of edits by tomorrow morning of the two of you, not that she ever minds.
As Aliyah and Caitlin are walking back, Aliyah bumps Caitlin.
"I am so telling your girl you just called her your teammate," Aliyah says.
"She is, she is our teammate," Caitlin says.
"Ya but you and the whole world knows she is is the sole reason you were able to get out of your head and back in this game and you just called her a teammate," Aliyah says.
"It isn't a big deal," Caitlin says.
"Fine, then I am going to go and tell her exactly what you said," Aliyah say as she picks up her pace to run and tell you that Caitlin only called you her teammate and not her girlfriend.
"No, wait!" Caitlin calls after Aliyah as she picks up her pace to stop her from tattling.
AN: Short and sweet! Let me know what you think! And as always, thank you for the love and support

A brief History of Mizrahi Jews in Arabic countries and Their expulsion
A\N: While I am an Ashkenazi Jew, I have done A LOT of research, and have both Iraqi friends and relatives to corroborate this with. Also, I'm petty - an Iraqi user who comments regularly on my posts seems to forget about his own country's Jewish history... Well, I hope he forgot instead of the more likely reality: It seems like Arabic people nowadays aren't aware of Jewish history in their countries since they either killed to expelled them all. Thus is born the constant argument that all Jews originated in Europe and are merely settlers in the Middle East.
I realized that what may be obvious to me won't be obvious to others since I'm a history nerd who grew up in Israel with plenty of rich archeological evidence and resources surrounding me. I'm happy to make these posts in hopes of educating others and contributing my part to ending antisemitism and prejudice. ___________________
You might have seen the following picture in one of my previous posts:
It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words. Unfortunately, in this case, it concludes hundreds of years of discrimination, violence, and exile for Mizrahi Jews. * It is important to note that numbers are slightly varied between sources, but the meaning is clear.
In a nutshell- all throughout history, the fate of Jewish people in countries where they weren't the religious majority was the same:
Discriminatory laws, blood libels, being blamed for disasters > violence & murder > Pogroms * > and eventually- exile or mass murder AKA ethnic cleansing \ genocide.
Pogrom- the term refers to violent attacks by local non-Jewish populations on Jews in the Russian Empire and in other countries.
Every Jewish community has its own Pogrom. While my side of the family might immediately think of the Kristallnacht or persecution & pogroms in Hungary, it is different for Jews from different backgrounds. You can read about a few cases of forced conversion to Islam here.
A brief History of the land of Israel
The land of Israel has always been considered a strategic passageway, and so many empires throughout history have conquered it:
* I simply cannot accurately write 3000+ years of Jewish history in the land of Israel. I found that this video summarizes it perfectly.
Exile from the land of Israel
Jews were exiled from the land of Israel numerous times since the Assyrian empire conquered Israel in 732 BCE, to what we call "the diaspora" גולה. It was not by choice and we were persecuted everywhere we went.
Jews were not allowed to legally return to Israel until 1948 when the British mandate over the land of Israel ended and Israel was formed. Yes, even during the Holocaust.
The Jewish answer to exile - Aliyah עליה There have been 5 waves of illegal immigration from all over the world to the land of Israel before 1948, recorded in modern times.
Chart taken from Wikipedia (their chart was the best I could find in English)
Forced Conversion
Whether in conquered Israel or in exile, Jews were often forced to convert to either Christianity or Islam. The choice was between conversion or death.
*You can read more about some of the forced conversion of Jews during history here and here.
First Case study- The last jew of Peki'in, Margalit Zinati
Peki'in is an ancient village in the upper Galilee, Northern Israel. Nowadays, its population is mostly Druze.
Peki'in has had a Jewish presence since the Second Temple period, until Arab riots in the 1930s*. Meet the remaining member of the Zinatis, the only family who returned. (aish.com)
*Read more on the Arab riots of the 1930s here and here. Margalit is currently the last Jew living in the village of Peki'in . She is the last direct descendent of the Zinati Cohen family. The Zinati family's origins are dated back to the Second Temple era. The former Jewish community of Peki'in maintained a presence there since the Second Temple period (516 BCE – 70 CE). That is when the polytheistic Persian Empire conquered the land of Israel. For reference- that was approximately 500 years before Jesus was even born! "During which the Second Temple stood in the city of Jerusalem. It began with the return to Zion and subsequent reconstruction of the Temple in Jerusalem, and ended with the First Jewish–Roman War and the Roman siege of Jerusalem." (Wikipedia)
As an adult, Margalit chose to not marry so she could stay in Peki'in and continue her family's Jewish legacy in Peki'in. She later became in charge of the ancient synagogue in the village and turned her basement into a visiting center \ museum of Jewish history in Peki'in- "House of Zinati". in 2018, she lit up a torch as part of Israel's 70th Independence Day Torch lighting ceremony (which is considered an honor given to influential and trailblazing people).
-Margalit Zinati pictured in the Peki'in Synagogue yard, 2016 Picture taken from Wikipedia, uploaded by Deror Avi.
Second Case study - Iraqi Jews (Babylonian Jews \ יְהוּדִים בָּבְלִים)
Iraqi Jews are one of the oldest documented Jewish communities living in the Middle East. It is estimated that they originated around 600 BC.ת
The Farhud الفرهود הפרהוד
Unfortunately, Iraqi Jewish history ended in the same pattern I've described earlier. The Farhud was the violent mass dispossession against the Jewish population of Baghdad, Iraq between 1-2 June 1941. was the pogrom or the "violent dispossession" that was carried out against the Jewish population of Baghdad, Iraq, on 1–2 June 1941, It immediately followed the British victory in the Anglo-Iraqi War.
Background for the Farhud:
WW2- At the time, many Arabic countries in the Middle East agreed with Nazi ideology.
History of violence towards Jews.
The Anglo-Iraqi War (2–31 May 1941) - caused rising tension, and as usual, it was turned on the Jews.
personal family ties to the Farhud My relative was born in 1939 in Iraq, to a big upper-class Jewish family. Unfortunately, the mass exile of Jews in the 1950s didn't skip her family: she was stripped of her belongings and exiled to Israel along with her family. In the 1950s there were approximately 140,000 Iraqi Jews. As of 2021, there are only 4 left.
----------------- Please feel free to add anything I missed in the notes. And as usual - remember I am a human being. If you cuss or harass me, I will block and report you.

Jenna Ortega x F!Reader
masterlist | series mast. | prev. part | next part
Chapter 5: Strobe Lights and a Strong Drink
Summary: After getting caught in some hot waters with the press, you are forced into an unexpected agreement with America's sweetheart, Jenna Ortega to save your career.
Warnings/Tags: dual!pov, famous!reader, actress!reader, mentions of substances, intoxication, mature language, real people. (do not read if any of these make you uncomfortable)
(this is all fiction!)
Note: Oof, what do you guys think? Thanks for reading and all the support guys!
Word Count: 6k+
Shit.
She kissed you.
She didn’t know why she kissed you.
Her fingers trembled even when you were gone minutes later. She brought the shaky fingers up to touch her burning lips, ignoring her sisters’ amused yet quizzical stares.
This whole week with you at her parents house has been nothing short of blissful. It was almost like domestic how you two acted around her family. Unspoken touches and longing stares.
She doesn’t know what to make of it.
All she knows is when she turned to wish you luck, her stomach churned at how delicately you were looking at her.
But before Jenna can think on it some more, her sisters are pulling her away to find a good spot for your performance; Mia, asking passersby which stage people had flocked to.
You didn’t tell her who you were performing with so they didn’t know where to go. Jenna had forgotten to ask.
“Do you know what time she’s going on stage?” Aliyah asks, holding the actress's hand firmly.
“No…” Jenna replied.
“Okay, do you at least know which stage?” Mia asked.
“No.”
“Do you guys ever talk or do you just share silent looks all day?” Mia sighs, fishing for her phone.
Jenna blushes. “I’ll text Link and ask.”
—
She’s buzzing with excitement but she’s impatient. It’s been two hours since you left her.
Jenna keeps sending texts asking when you are coming out to perform but of course, all you do is tease.
You: Stop being impatient, you’ll see soon ;)
Jenna isn’t sure if her suspicions are true but people around her are talking about a surprise guest for Metro Boomin’s set but she doesn’t remember having heard if you had worked with the producer before.
This could be the song you were working tirelessly over this last week.
“Do you think it’s Y/N?” Aliyah asks, peeking her head past the others in the crowd.
They can practically feel the excitement as the music pumps loudly through the gigantic stage.
“I’m not sure.” Jenna shouts, “This is a good set though!”
“Yeah!” Her sister agreed, pulling her to dance.
The cheers get louder when the song finishes, setting up to transition to the next one; the crowd is amped with anticipation.
“Everyone, give it up for The Weeknd!”
The crowd explodes as he comes out in an all-white jumpsuit and blacked-out sunglasses.
“Give it up for Metro Boomin, Coachella!” He praises as he comes out; talking to the crowd as they cheer audibly.
Jenna feels disappointed that it wasn’t you but is still excited when she sees the familiar face. Her sister Mia is practically jumping in her spot, he's one of her favourite artists.
“Jen, come on!” Mia laughs, tugging her closer to the stage, smiling largely.
She fights the urge to pull out her phone and text you again.
10 minutes go by of The Weeknd performing and Jenna’s enjoying herself; forgetting about you for a moment as she dances with her sisters; taking pictures and videos; allowing the music to consume her.
The Weeknd performs well and the crowd is evidently loving him.
Eventually, the music quiets down and the singer starts speaking.
“Can we play some new shit for a second, Coachella?” The crowd screams, excited to be the first to hear a new song. “Alright… then make some noise for Y/N motherfucking L/N.”
A synthesized deep reverberating beat drops and strobe lights flash blindingly in Jenna's eyes making her squint as you ascend through a cloud of thick fog from backstage.
Her jaw drops.
When Jenna gets clear sight of you, she knew you were a sight to behold. "Wow..."
The outfit you are wearing hung off your figure so well and so tight that Jenna wouldn’t be surprised if she was drooling. The heeled boots paired with it give you height accentuating the rest of your clothes well. You changed your hair and makeup and suddenly she understands why everyone she has spoken to has been enamoured by you.
“Woah…” Aliyah trails off, in awe and then turns to her sister with an amused smirk watching her sister's comically enormous round eyes as she continued to stare at you.
You looked like a superstar on that stage.
At first, she thought Link called you that as a joke but as she watched you walk to centre stage, she understood why.
You start singing and Jenna thinks she can pass away now. She can barely hear you as the crowd starts freaking out when seeing you. A sea of phones are immediately pulled out to capture the rare moment of you on stage. Jenna feels like the ground is shaking as the crowd gets ridiculously noisier the longer you sang the unfamiliar words along with the melody.
The beat drops again and Jenna watches as you bounce around on stage with the largest smile plastered on your face as you expertly performed with the other singer.
That's when Jenna felt it.
She knew it then.
Fuck.
She’s so screwed.
—
Thank you so much for having me Coachella! It's been such a blast!” The crowd screamed thunderously prompting you to painfully clutch your in-ears when you hear just how deafening the audience was now that the backing track wasn't playing.
“Oh shit,” You wince.
You feel loved as you look at the vast and far ocean of blinding lights. This feeling never gets old. It’s been a while since you’ve been on stage; taking a step back to focus on film. When your good friend asked you to do a surprise performance, there was no way you were going to say no.
“You killed it!” Abel laughs in your ear, planting a kiss on your cheek.
“Thanks!” You say bashfully, leaning into the embrace.
“Everyone, give it up for the King of Coachella and Metro Boomin!” You praise, pulling away to yell into the mic, smiling wide and large.
For a hopeful moment, you scan the crowd, trying to find Jenna knowing she’s watching you somewhere.
Somehow, you spot her past the masses immediately.
Like a moth to a flame, you find her through the faceless crowd. Jenna had her hands cupped around her mouth as she cheered for you, trying to peek her head above the others. She drops her hands, landing back on the balls of her feet when you make eye contact and just smiled at you proudly.
As if time stops; you and her just stare at each other for a couple of seconds.
Longer than usual.
Longer than necessary for this PR relationship.
You have no doubts that videos of you and Jenna’s stare-off will be trending by tonight when you see people swinging their arms to pan between you and the other actress when they see your line of sight.
Briefly, you hear mutterings of people in the front row saying Jenna’s name and pointing; getting louder.
You blink, realizing where you were and wave goodbye one last time, steadily springing off stage — itching to get all the eyes off of you.
“That was great Y/N!” Link smiles, hugging you immediately. “Did you hear how loud the crowd was? Holy shit!”
“Thanks, Link… and yeah that was crazy.” You laughed appreciatively, the high of performing and having tens of thousands of eyes on you was starting its comedown. “Come on, I’m dying to get these boots off… no matter how pretty they are.”
“Don’t let your stylist hear that. She was excited about the boots — talked my ear off for 10 minutes.” He rolled his eyes, leading you to a tent backstage.
You follow him, ducking and nodding your head in appreciation as people cheer and compliment your performance.
“Yeah, she does that.” You chuckle.
“So what was that?” He asks lowly.
“What?”
“That kiss.” He looks at you sternly.
“Oh. I’m not sure. She just pulled me in.” You answer honestly, not really having the words to describe it yet.
You’ve been pulled left and right as you got ready for the performance.
“Can you sound anymore like a guy? Give me details how was it?” He leans in.
“I—I don’t know.”
“What do you mean I don’t know. She kissed you! That has to mean something! Maybe you two can finally say goodbye to all that weird silent pining you guys have going on.” He wrinkled his nose in memory of how often he caught the two of you staring into each other’s eyes or swinging hands as you walked in tandem.
The two of you are the very definition of oblivious.
“It’s not pining.”
“Call it whatever you want.”
You sigh, “I don’t really know what it means, Link. It’s just a kiss, it might not mean anything to her..”
“To her?” He takes special note.
You roll your eyes, swinging open the flap of the tent. “Yes for her.”
“What did it mean for you, then?” He turns his back to face the wall as you rapidly change.
“Why do you care so much? When was the last time you were on a date?” You huff; tugging the leather boots off your feet. “Did you try that dating app I told you about? I promise it won’t be like last time.”
“Don’t change the subject.” He growled deeply.
You’re no longer allowed to set him up on dates after that experience.
Huffing, you give in, “I’m not really sure what it meant to me, yet. It all happened so fast but… I don’t think I hated it.”
“Mhm.” You were like a toddler learning to walk. He had to slowly coax you as you learn to do things; like talk about your feelings. “So, what do you wanna do?”
“Do? Nothing, why would I do something?”
“God, you’re dense.”
“Dude!” You throw your hands up.
He rolls his eyes, “Yes, you should do something! Did you not see the way she was looking at you?” He asks confused.
How did you not see how you two looked at each other?
“I–I, maybe. But I don’t wanna read into it.” You admit.
“That look from her seemed like it meant something, I don’t know.”
“What? No way.” You wave off, despite your heart darting wildly in your chest at his words.
You don't want to get your hopes up.
“Dude, I’m this close to knocking you out. I don’t care who you are.” You hear his loud puff echo in the room. “Why is the thought of being with Jenna so bad to you? You guys are practically acting like you’re together – you’ve been sharing a bed with the girl when there’s a whole mansion here in the Valley for you. You even started doing chores around her parent’s house Y/N... In all my years of knowing you, you have never even turned on the dishwasher at home. Be honest with yourself for once, really.”
“How do you know about the chores?” You peek your head out the divider, sending him a confused look.
“Jenna… who else. We talk, you know.” He says, back still facing you.
“What do you guys talk about?”
“None of your concern.”
You rolled your eyes, sighing out long and tired.
“We’re both so busy all the time, there’s no way it’ll work. Do you remember the last person I tried to date? I don’t want that with Jenna. ” Link shudders; he‘s had his fair share of close calls with filing a restraining order… given your history of flings and relationships.
“They’re all either psycho or it just ends up crashing in flames. I don’t want to have to show up at an award show and awkwardly smile at Jenna, pretending like I don’t know her. Or have a song or movie made about me.. again. I knew this PR stunt was bad news.” You shove your head in the t-shirt, feeling much more comfortable in the soft, loose fabric.
“Okay, you don't mean that. Don’t you think you’re –I don’t know–overthinking this a little? Also, I don’t see Jenna as the songwriting type. Maybe an essay about you?”
“Are you done?” You scoffed at the timing of his joke, stepping out from the wall divider. “Also, I think what I said was very reasonable.”
“I’m just saying, maybe she’s different.”
“I doubt it.” Much like your lyrics; you were just as much a pessimist.
But you know you’re lying — you felt instantly just how different she is from anyone you’ve ever met before.
You just didn’t know it could develop into… this.
Even through thousands of people, you managed to find her from that stage.
Jenna has an omnipotent pull on you that was getting harder to evade.
Something tells you the harder you try to yank away, the tighter the leash will start to feel.
You hated feeling suffocated.
“Y/N.” He says disapprovingly. “You don’t mean that.”
“I don’t know, maybe I do.” You try to appear indifferent; looking away from your best friend to find the matching sweater to your pants.
“Hey. I’m serious. Don’t shut yourself out from the potential of something good just because you’re a little scared.”
“That’s not what I’m doing, Link.” You grow annoyed.
When were you going to get some time for yourself? Without someone questioning you or bombarding you?
"Really? Cause it sounds to me like you're a little scared. I mean, think about it. How different would it be if you two actually dated? Everyone already thinks you're together and you've already been travelling apart for work. Not to mention... you two already act like a couple. It's crazy that you don't see it."
"What?" You look at him bewildered. "No, we don't. It's all for the cameras."
"Dude, it's me. Who are you trying to bullshit? Even Enrique won't stop talking about you two. And you know that guy’s around Jenna all the time.”
You scoff, "That—that doesn't mean anything."
"Please, " He holds a hand up, "I can't handle this today, I'm clocking out. Jenna can deal with you now." Then turns and walks out of the tent.
You huff, not wanting to think about his words.
You could play the fool and say that you have no idea what he's talking about. But you see the longing glances from the other actress.
You pretended not to notice her stares when you were around her family this past week. When her dad was complaining about his car not starting so you offered to look at it for him; a chance for you to get to know her dad a little more (if people asked you, his constant silence still kinda scared you). Or when you were the only one who could get her niece to calm down after fussing that one afternoon. Or when you played basketball with her brother Markus – trying desperately not to trash-talk and cuss out the young, competitive teen.
You get the point, she was always watching and you’re not dumb. You definitely see it; the little hairs on the back of your neck always stand when she’s near. Like your own version of Spidey-senses but with… Jenna. But that doesn't mean anything?
The two of you are at her parent’s house – she’s bound to be around.
Maybe she was drunk? You did order some cocktails throughout the night and she’d begged you for a couple of sips — even offering to hold it for you when you saw some friendly faces amidst the crowd. You may have indulged her. Hey, she's drank before, you know she can handle her alcohol.
Yeah, that has to be it right? Just the high of the crowd and the buzz of a strong drink.
You certainly felt like you needed one if you had to face Jenna soon.
Walking over to the bottle of tequila gifted to you by the producer’s team, you pop the top off and grab a shot glass. You pour yourself a generous shot and immediately down it, wincing at the burn it leaves in your throat.
You pour another one and another one before you feel like you've had enough — you're taking too long in here.
"Hey, there you are!" Jenna's voice exclaimed behind you after the sound of a tarp being pulled open.
You turn, surprised, still holding the shot glass and bottle of Don Julio 1942.
She perks a brow up, amused. "Celebrating alone?"
"We live alone—"
"We die alone. Orson Welles. Somebody to Love." She cuts in.
"Snob." You laugh then turned and grabbed another glass. "Want one? I won't tell."
"Yes." Jenna grinned and walked closer. "Why does no one ever talk about the second part of that quote?"
"There's a second part?" You wrinkled your nose in confusion.
"Yeah, only through our love and friendship can we create the illusion for the moment that we're not alone." Jenna quotes, grabbing the shot you held out for her.
"Oh... that's sweet I guess." You place the bottle down, turning to her; ignoring the added meaning behind her words.
"Yeah, it's one of my favourite quotes." Jenna clinks glasses with you.
"Salud." You raise the glass, tap the table and then take the shot heartily.
"You're a dork." Jenna coughs out, wincing at the burn.
"It's customary, darling." You reply teasingly, pulling out a posh English accent.
Jenna laughs a little too hard at your joke, crinkling her nose. "Is that the Little Women accent?"
You blink, taken aback. "You've seen my movie?"
Jenna reddens. "Yeah..." coughing, "like five times. It got you an Oscar nomination."
"That's cute." You grin, heart practically leaping out of your chest.
"I thought I was supposed to find you?" You remembered.
“You were taking too long… and there’s a steady crowd waiting to congratulate you outside but... I wanted to be the first one.” She looks down, kicking the carpet with her booted toe.
You grinned, “You liked it?”
She glanced up, laughing, “Liked it? You were amazing! The crowd was so loud, I definitely lost some of my hearing… I think my Mia and Aliyah might even want you as a sister instead.”
You laugh, shrugging. “Thank you, Jenna… but nah, I think the one they got is pretty cool too. They’re lucky to have you.”
She smiles up at you. And like earlier, you find yourself getting lost in her soft, kind eyes. You two have come a long way since that first meeting…
A part of you thinks, how it feels nice to have someone waiting for you backstage after a performance. Someone that doesn't work for you.
"Hey, so um— are we gonna talk about it?" You gain the courage to ask. Usually, you'd beat around the bush, hating confrontation. You're probably the first person to take a hike at the sign of an inconvenience. But this is Jenna.
Your Jenna.
She had kissed you.
Somethings you can brush off and forget, but not this. You find yourself not wanting to do so, so easily either. Something tells you that it's a memory that'll stick with you for a while, if not forever.
You could probably get Alzheimer's and you still won't forget you and Jenna under the strobe lights and rip-roaring crowd.
A tiny part of you held onto the hope that she’d say she meant it but you would never say that out loud.
"Yeah, I guess we should. Um— did you hate it?" She bit her lip in question.
"Did you?" You cowardly cop-out.
She rolls her eyes, smiling a bit but taking the bait and stepping closer to you. "Not really no..."
"Me too." You blurted and Jenna looks pleased.
"Good." Stepping closer. "Do you think, we can, I don’t know maybe do it again?" She whispers, looking up at you.
"Maybe..." You breathe out; arms stiff by your sides as she leans into your personal space.
"Maybe?" She cocks a coy brow, smirking. "You gonna make me work for it?"
She runs her fingers up your hands to your arm to your shoulder before resting them on your neck. A trail of goosebumps litters your skin.
You bit your lip, not missing how her eyes followed your movements. "I—uh,"
"What? Did I finally make you speechless?" She scrapes her nails against the back of your neck as her other hand rested on your stomach anchoring herself. "If I knew all it had to take was kissing you to shut you up I would've done it a long ti—"
You cut her gloating off, pushing your lips firmly to hers; tightly gripping her sheer button-down shirt. You pray a thousand blessings come to whoever bought this shirt for her because the way her skin burned through the fabric had you clutching her tighter than ever.
She groans against the sudden pressure but melts against you; pulling you down by the hand on your neck; kissing you back. Jenna tilts her head to the side, allowing you to slip your tongue past her lips and into her mouth.
When you traced your hand down her back relishing the way she shuddered under the touch — you made sure to stop and toy with the hook of her bra, just teasing before shamelessly moving your hand on her waist; lower than what should be considered modest for a second kiss.
But you don't care because Jenna is in your arms, kissing you back with the same intensity and for the first time, you feel all the tension between you and her fizzle away.
Like two teenagers who finally managed to find some time alone —she's slotting her leg in between yours making you flinch back.
"Mhmm. Jen not here." You mumble against her lips.
"Sorry, sorry. I got carried away." She blinks, unwrapping herself from you.
You laugh, tugging her closer. "I didn't say move."
Jenna gulps at your tone, feeling flushed. "Okay..."
"We should definitely talk about this though, right?" You sighed, leaning your head on top of hers. Jenna leans into your chest.
"Yeah probably. But this is nice too." She wraps her arms around your waist. She decides she likes the way the curves of your waist made a perfect mould for her arms to rest on.
She looks up, chin on your chest to link eyes. "Maybe it can wait until we're home? My sisters are still waiting outside..."
You look down at her, gently smiling. "Yeah, at home."
Your heart skips a beat.
"Okay." She pulls herself away; linking hands to tug you outside.
But she stops walking just before she can open the flap, promptly spinning on her toes and pulling you down to kiss you again. You only hear her satisfied sighs fanning against your skin.
Then she's pulling away too fast for your liking. "Now we can go."
You can't help but grin ear to ear at that.
—
“The Weeknd, really? I guessed him.” She grumbles from beside you as you two walk back to her sisters.
"I told you, he's a friend. We’re working on some of the soundtrack for his new HBO show." You chuckle, swinging your arm over her shoulder to link hands and tugging her close; wanting to feel closer to the young actress.
"The Idol?" She perks up, having heard about the show.
"Mhmm. Just the music." You hum and Jenna wants to laugh at how nonchalant you sound. How did you have time to do music, act and play your part in this PR relationship? "I composed the arrangement of the song."
"What? That's so cool, I actually want to get into composing." She mentions excitedly.
"You're gonna have to come by the studio sometime then, maybe I can show you a couple of things." You grin, eyes tinged with interest.
"Maybe... but don't change the subject, I guessed The Weeknd." She squeezes your hand, mulling over the idea.
"What do you want? A reward?" You chuckle.
"Yes." She mutters.
"Okay. What would you like? I have a lot to offer?" You say teasingly as you approach her sisters.
But Jenna doesn’t say anything, just takes her free hand and wraps it around your neck to pull you down; connecting your lips in another sensible kiss. You couldn’t fight the sigh that leaves your nose when you feel her tilt her head to the side; deepening the kiss.
Multiple bright flashes breaks your moment.
"Mia! Aliyah!" Jenna glares as they keep smiling.
"What?" Mia asks pretending to sound confused, "Oh shit, these are kinda cute, Jenna you might want this."
Jenna grumbles under her breath, embarrassed and tugged you along to stand a fair distance away from her sisters and closer to the stage.
"Send me those!" You manage to yell before she pulls you out of earshot.
"You two are a match made in heaven." She stands in front of you, leaning against your chest with your arms wrapped around her waist— like before you were pulled away from her to perform.
"Is that jealousy I hear, Ortega? I already told you, there's only one that I care enough to impress. You place your head over her shoulder tugging her close.
Not even the humid desert heat can keep you from wanting to feel closer to the other actress. Jenna seems to be just as comfortable as you so you don't pull away.
"Mhmm. Just checking." She traces a finger over the arm steadily wrapped around her midsection; sending shivers down your spine.
—
“A wedding dress?” You perk up, scanning yourself in the mirror. The Prada x Thom Browne custom gown made just for you made you feel like a Disney princess; hints of gothic design and golden tassels hung haphazardly on the train of dress as it’s still in its work-in-progress stage.
“Mhmm.” Your stylist mumbles, watching the fabric flow down your figure. “With its own flair, this is just the base of the dress. We’ll be adding more details to match the theme.”
“It’s stunning but why this?” You ask, twirling on the podium making the seamstress and tailor scowl beside you.
“To match Jenna, darling, what else for?” She says like you’re stupid — which in hindsight, you might be. But hey, it’s been a long week.
"What is she wearing?" You couldn't help but ask.
She snorts an obnoxious laugh, "Nice try sweetie. You'll see what she wears on the day. Thom would also kill me.”
"I thought you worked for me." You grumbled.
“Not for the Met — I don’t. I’ve seen that tiny girl’s wrath. I’ll deal with you over her.”
After Coachella weekend, there was no 'going home' and 'talking about it' with Jenna because you were already being pulled by Link in the other direction by the end of the night. Telling you about how you need to drive back to L.A. to pack for New York, once again.
Sometimes you felt like you were living most of your life on planes.
This meant you had to leave Jenna (and your dog with her) behind in California as you prepare for the annual fashion gala — where this year, you were tasked with the honour of co-hosting among a panel of other stars and Anna Wintour.
Jenna made sure to send you daily updates on their daily walks. You might have saved a couple of those photos… but as of the last few days, you hadn’t heard from the other actress.
"Now go, Link wants you back in your hotel room to go over your duties for the Met." She holds your hand as you step off the podium. The rest of your fashion team scattered off to their own respective corners; taking notes.
"Thank you, darling. It's always a pleasure to work with you." You say appreciatively.
"The pleasure is all mine." She kisses both of your cheeks before ushering you to a room to change.
—
“Hey, you gotta see this.” Link says as soon as you walk into your hotel suite.
“What is it now?” You ask, sliding in to see what he was looking at.
‘Y/N caught with cocaine? Rumours of a possible arrest. Will this be the end of this young star’s career?’
“How did they find out about the coke?” You grabbed the phone out of his hands, re-reading the article for a possible source.
“Not sure. But Liv has her suspicions. She said she’s looking into it and not to worry. Lawyers are saying they don’t have basis to charge you. Some people don’t believe it but you know, people love to stir shit up.” He watches your creased forward. “I wouldn’t worry about it.”
“How can I not worry about it? They’re drug allegations, lawyers are involved. Jake said that part wouldn’t get out to the press because they weren’t mine. He promised.” You give the phone back to him and start pacing the room.
“Hey, hey. Jake and Liv are handling it and Sarah is already in talks of tracking down whoever the possible source is.”
“Sarah… Sarah’s involved.” You mutter.
“Yeah? This kinda affects Jenna too.” He shrugs.
“Fuck. Fuck Jenna knows…” Your eyes widen in realization. Is this why she hasn’t reached out?
The two of you haven’t had time to talk these last few days. She’s been busy with her family and her Dior event while you’ve been on the East Coast prepping for the MET.
Does she know?
“I’m not sure. But if Sarah is involved. Good chances are… Jenna’s heard about it ‘cause she’s been warned.”
“Fuck.” You groan into your hands.
“Does Jenna not know?” Link asks confused.
“I don’t know what she knows, to be honest. I think she might have heard about the coke in the beginning but Jake and Liv made sure to keep that part under wraps. Only my drunken disorderly got out to the press. I–I’m not sure if Jenna ever knew it was true…”
“Y/N, it’s okay. It’s Jenna. I’m sure she’ll understand once you two get a chance to talk.” He places his hand on your shoulder.
“I don’t want to talk about that night, Jake. Especially not with her. It’s not exactly my best moment…”
“Well… I feel like she’s gonna have questions, regardless.” He walks off to the kitchen.
You head to your room to nap away the bad news you just got.
Met Gala duties can wait.
—
“You'll look great beside Jenna."
“Where is she, Enrique?” You tugged on the base of the dress.
“In her room.” He plainly answers, brushing down any wrinkles.
“Can I see her? I need to talk to her.”
His eyes flicker up to you, stopping his fretting. You don’t miss the slight judgment in his eyes. “No can do. She’s still getting ready.”
“I thought we were walking the carpet together?"
“You are. But you’ll see her when she’s done getting ready.”
“Are you mad at me or something?” You couldn’t help but ask, making your makeup artist stop for a moment.
He flicks a brow up, “It’s not my place to be mad at you. You should talk to Jenna.”
“What does that mean?” You furrow your brows.
“Like I said, just talk to her. She’ll be ready in a bit. Meet us on her floor.” Then he walks off
You sighed.
“You’re good to go, hun.” Your glam team confirms.
Eventually, your team trickles out one by one leaving you with a moment to yourself. Closing your eyes, you lean back against your chair and let out a heavy sigh.
You really wanted to talk to Jenna before tonight’s gala.
The news of your ‘possible arrest’ and ‘charges’ is abuzz all over the internet and social media.
It seems like whoever leaked that you were caught with coke made you public enemy number one on certain news outlets, once again.
But people on the internet have differing opinions. Some make fun of the situation, some defend you, and some are outright bashing you.
You’ve deactivated various social media’s, only keeping your Instagram to check on Jenna and her family’s posts from Coachella weekend, but your comments are limited.
The slew of hate you've been hit with from randoms is overwhelming despite you not caring about their thoughts on your life and the way you chose to live it.
There's only so much you can take when the first thing you read when you open social media is your name.
But, you’ve been so swamped with rehearsals and duties as a host that you couldn’t even greet the other actress when she landed. By the time you made it back to your hotel room in the dead of night, you didn’t feel you should disturb Jenna’s much-needed rest — knowing she’s a bit of an insomniac.
“Hey, I just got the okay. We’re good to go. We can meet Jenna.” Link pops his head through the door breaking you out of your thoughts.
You open your eyes, and sighed, taking your time to get up making Link raise his brow. “Hey, it’ll be okay.”
He reassures you once you stepped out of the door, holding the lavish train of your dress behind you.
“Yeah…” You mutter distantly, bunching your dress up with one hand to walk to the elevator.
When you make it to Jenna’s floor your hands begin to perspire. Enrique’s words from earlier ringing loudly in your ears, he definitely made it sound like Jenna was mad at you.
She was right, you do jump to conclusions.
You force yourself to take a calm, deep breath as you wait for her door to open; nervously tapping your high-heeled foot on the carpet.
When the door creaks open, your eyes are snapping to it immediately.
“Wow…” You do a double-take, with a wide-eyed goggle — taking a step back to admire her custom tuxedo dress.
“Thanks…” She tucks a hair behind her ear, glancing down shyly.
“Jenna… I mean it, you look— wow. I mean—“ You stutter embarrassingly.
In all your ears as a performer, you have never been so tongue-tied. What is this girl doing to you?
Even Enrique couldn’t help but laugh behind her, easing the tension as Jenna just flicks an amused brow at you, despite her reddening cheeks.
Clearing your throat, attempting to hide your unabashed staring, “Sorry, I just mean— you look beautiful.”
“Thank you… so do you.” She muttered gingerly.
“You like it? It’s a little on the nose.” It was your turn to blush as you glanced between your outfit and hers — a bride and groom. You try not to put too much meaning on the implication.
“It was my idea, actually.” She admitted.
“Really?” You asked, surprised.
“Yeah,” She steps out, walking ahead of you. “It’ll be great for the press.”
That word was starting to grind your gears whenever it left her mouth.
You frowned as she walked further away.
"Can we talk? I need to tell you something." You slide in next to her.
Damn her and those heels.
"Not now, Y/N," Jenna whispers coldly, sparing you a warning look.
"It's important Jenn—"
"Y/N. I'm serious. Don't make things worse." She says with certainty that made you slightly afraid but knowing when to keep your mouth shut has never been your strong suit.
"You know... about the article." You trail off, unsure how you feel.
"Of course. I know, Y/N. God." She rolls her eyes and walks into the elevator.
You keep your head down and shove yourself into the opposite corner of the metal box; not wanting to be close to the other actress as you attempt to cool down.
She really believed a gossip article?
When the door opens, you couldn’t help but slide in beside her. “And you really believe it? Over me?”
She sighed, pulling you aside to a secluded corner and let both of your teams walk ahead; ignoring their prying eyes.
“I don’t know what to believe Y/N.”
You scoff, brows furrowing, “Me… believe me, Jenna.”
“How?” She says bluntly and you feel your heart drop at her tone and how sure she sounded about her accusations.
You know you’re the farthest from a saint. Did what you do warrant this reaction from her?
Maybe.
But you felt like you should still be able to explain your side.
She takes your stunned silence as a prompt to keep talking.
“This is what you do. You run away from things until it catches up to you. We’ve spent the last few months by each other sides and you never brought up the—“She takes a deep breath, glancing around wearily, “Coke… so you tell me Y/N, what should I believe? ‘Cause it feels like you haven’t been upfront with me.”
“Upfront with you–” You laugh resentfully.
“Guys, we gotta go!” Link yells before you can give in to your rising anger.
I guess you know where you stand with her.
“We—We’ll talk about it later,” Jenna sighs, hanging her head low as if she were tired.
Deep breath...
“Don’t bother. Point made."
“What was that?” Link asks, holding his elbow out for you to take as you walked away from the other actress.
“My answer.” You mumbled, bitterly.
Maybe she is just like the rest of them.

CHAPTER 1, EPISODE ONE
✧.* ࿐ CHAPTER 1’S MIXTAPE ! ꩜ ·˚ ༘₊· ✿ ೀ ➳
001, IT GIRL . . . aliyah’s interlude
002, SWEET ESCAPE . . . gwen stefani & akon
003, WE R WHO WE R . . . kesha
004, PARADISE . . . coldplay
Born from the same father but different mothers, your sibling bond with Percy was unbreakable, certainly unconditional. Your mothers were very close, growing up as best friends from when they were teenagers, accomplishing every achievement together for the sake of you and Percy’s life.
Of course, your moms fell in love, hosting a small spring wedding when you were 10 and Percy was 6 years old.
‘Look…. I didn’t want to be a half-blood. Being a half-blood is dangerous, it’s scary. Most of the time it gets you killed in painful, nasty ways. If you think you might be one of us, my advice is to turn away while you still can because once they know who you are, they’ll sense it too and they’ll come for you. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.’
‘My name is Y/N Jackson-Matthews, I’m sixteen years old. Am I a troubled kid? Depends on which context you put this in.’
‘To my parents, I’m the easy and less rebellious child, never causing fights unless provoked, maintaining good school grades, and protecting my brother from trouble. I didn’t mind any of it, rather enjoying being the protector of the family. It makes me visible and seen as an equal to my other family members. Don’t get my parents wrong, they love and care for me very much, but I always felt invisible, blending into the sidelines, due to my shy nature. Luckily, I’m still growing out of that mindset and managing to be an outspoken girl and not a pushover.’
‘So what happens when the protector is unable to protect? Do they give up instant hope and cower in shame? Or do they fight back, willingly seeking a second chance to redeem themselves? The answer to this question is unclear. Whether you make a change or just bystand like others?
With everything going on, from the upbringing of your heritage, both of your mothers went through thick and thin. Developing from friends into lovers hardly changed anything, presumably their love maintained massively for themselves and shared children. A loving family of four was maintained by dark secrets that cost lives.
After many years of moving from states because of unexplainable sightings you and Percy witnessed in confusion and never properly settling down in schools, Yancy Academy was persistent. You and Percy managed a full school semester at Yancy, and your parents were proud of it.
Everything was going well, Percy finally found a friend, Grover Underwood, the boy was a little peculiar but his personality was a sweet innocent one. Yes, you didn’t have any friends but you were fine with it, half of your schoolmates weren’t even worth the time. So, you just hung out with Grover and Percy, defending them against bullies, particularly a redhead named Nancy Bobofit, who was your classmate.
Despite the girl bullying your younger brothers, she never bothered you to the extent she did with others. You shared most of your classes with her, due to being assigned to AP Classes because of your academic gift. Perhaps, maybe she’s always flustered by your mere presence, her rosy cheeks, giving her true feelings away. Even when it’s with a single glance from you, the redhead girl would duck her head and turn the small smile she had on, plastering it with a hardened frown.
‘Until the day that changed, too…until the day one of them decided to come for me and my brother too. My family’s fate will all be in my hands. And maybe I wasn’t prepared for it, nobody was prepared for it. I’m a protector and nothing we hate worse is an unprepared attack.
Yancy Academy hosted a field trip to the Met Museum about Greek Gods for History Week. Standing beside your younger brothers, Grover and Percy, observing about the many Greek God statues on display while Mr. Brunner briefly discussed Greek History.
Keeping a clipboard in your hand with a worksheet attached to it and you fidgeted with the pen in your other hand. You couldn’t concentrate on anything.
“What you see here, they are not fictions. They are not fantasies. What you see here are the truest and deepest parts of yourselves. Friends…the gods, the monsters, the heroes, you see here in this room are reminders of what we are capable of.” Mr. Brunner explained to the students.
You released a tired sigh, throwing your head slightly back as you resisted the urge to roll your eyes and leave to buy snacks.
Greek Mythology wasn’t your favorite thing to learn about but surprisingly your brother, it’s the only subject he wholeheartedly admires.
“Now, on your worksheets, I want you to choose one of the subjects you see here and describe it. Not just how it looks but how it makes you feel. Hmm…okay, c’mon.” Your History teacher claps twice, urging everyone to disperse and start the assignment.
You blinked down at the clipboard holding your assignment, trying to read the instructions. Your vision goes blurry as you squint your eyes, not believing the sight. Were you seeing things now? Since when do words start to rearrange themselves on paper? That whole ordeal caused even more confusion and an even further increasing headache.
Suddenly, you feel a tap on your shoulder which brings you back to reality as you turn around to face the person. You shake your head, realizing you are in a public place and daydreaming again.
“Hey, Matthews,” Nancy smirks.
“Hey, Bobofit.” Your eyes slanted at the girl’s presence, wondering why the sudden intrusion.
“I was wondering if you had another pen that I could borrow. I seem to have lost mine,”
You nodded with a small smile, about to grab the extra pen from your sweater pocket before your brother joined in the conversation.
“Isn’t that the pen behind your ear?” Percy points out.
You raised your head and scanned the girl’s face as her red hair made it harder to decipher the pen. Nancy’s face flushed in embarrassment as her eyes widened at the blonde’s attempt at humiliation. The redhead absolutely hated that he succeeded in embarrassing her, and in front of you, too. Finally, you spotted the well-hidden pen, observing the writing utensil, safely tucked behind the bridge of her ear.
“Oh yeah, you do have a pen. You don’t need mine.”
Your brother smiles in satisfaction at Nancy’s embarrassment and your cluelessness in the entire situation.
“Yeah, so can you get lost now?” Percy says with a disdained face.
Nancy glares and scoffs at your blonde brother before turning her attention back to you with a half smile. “See you later, Y/N,” she waved with a flirty tone.
You nodded, watching the redhead saunter off to her friend group once again.
“I still don’t get why you even interact with her,” Percy exhales.
“Trust me, I don’t know myself.” You answer him, “Maybe, I want to kill her with kindness,” You joked with a dry tone.
“My sister is always the jester,” Percy rolls his eyes.
“Shut up, doofus,” You shove him. “Let’s hurry up and finish this worksheet so we can buy snacks, I’m starving.”
“I swear you think through your stomach,”
“Whatever, Perseus.”
You two chuckle to yourselves as you both look up at the statue in front of you. It was Perseus, standing victoriously while holding the decapitated head of Medusa.
“What do you see?”
The whole scenery changed, and instead of the museum being crowded it was empty, just the family of four. You, Percy, your mom, Jessica, and your mother, Sally. However, your ages also regressed there too, you were 10 and Percy was 6 as you all stood before the statue. It was a past memory.
“Perseus…that’s me.” A six-year-old Percy answered his mom.
“Mm-hmm, that’s who you’re named after.”
“Is that why you named me after him? Because he was a hero?”
“What makes you think he was a hero?”
“Because he kills monsters.”
“And what makes you think that she was a monster?”
“Mom…”
“Not everyone who looks like a hero is a hero, and not everyone who looks like a monster is a monster.” Your mom, Jessica continues with the conversation.
“This Greek talk is sooo boring,” You mumbled to yourself.
“I named you after him because when he was a very little boy he and his mother were placed in a wooden chest and cast out into the sea by a very angry king.”
Your mom looked at her two children as she spoke, “All alone, afraid, and at night, his mother would whisper in his ear; “Hold fast Perseus. Brave the storm that was made to break us for we are unbreakable as long as we have each other.”
“And against all odds, he managed his way to find a happy ending,” Sally concludes.
You and your mom shared a glance of boredom as she grabbed your hand, sneakily walking away from your brother and mother. You two left the museum and headed towards the food stand outside, ordering two medium-sized pretzels.
“We got pretzels,” You cheered, chewing on the pretzel in your hand as you skipped back inside the museum with your mom.
“And you didn’t bring me any!” Percy yelled in astonishment.
“Why yes, of course, because you and mother were boring me and mom about all this Greek mythology.”
“It’s not my fault your attention span is so short!”
“Oh, like you’re one to talk, Perseus!”
“Just shut up, Y/N/N.”
Before you two could argue again, your mom hit your arm, silencing any of your upcoming words, and replacing it with a hurried yell. Soothing your arm in pain as the impact still subsided, and you pouted at your mom.
“In public places, we use our inside voices, remember.” Sally gently reprimands her two children.
“But—“
Her warning tone was to be carefully treaded with. “Y/N…”
“Why didn’t Percy get hit too?”
“Don’t take that tone with your mother, missy,” Your mom lectures you with a firm stare. “Don’t make me get the belt.”
Neither of your parents were wearing belts and you wondered where she was gonna find one. For once, you decided to keep your smart mouth shut and avoid the consequences this time.
“Fine, we’ll be even.” Sally sighs, briefly hitting Percy’s arm harshly, wincing when his eyes start to water.
“Sorry, mom.” You held your head down in shame and bashfully took another bite of your pretzel.
He cries and you walk over to him, rubbing his back with your free hand, attempting to comfort him. Soon enough, you soothed and wiped his tears away and gave him a huge bear hug.
“Don’t cry, brother. I’ll keep you safe from our mothers.”
He sniffles at you, still staying silent, reciprocating the hug back and not budging.
Pulling away from the bear hug, you grinned softly at the young blonde. “We’ll share my pretzel if you like.” You shoved the half-eaten pretzel into your brother’s face.
Percy wipes his remaining tears away, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips as he reaches for the desert.
You smiled at your generosity and so did your parents at your kindness shown towards your younger brother. They loved seeing you two get along, too bad that wholesome moment quickly diminished as you began to shout again.
“Not a big piece, you hoarder!”
“How about we get you two separate pretzels?” Sally bargained with an unsure shrug and her wife, Jessica stared at her in disbelief.
“We’re not getting them separate pretzels.” Your mom, Jessica, shakes her head.
“Why not?”
“Can’t you tell, Percy, we’re broke?”
“How broke are we?”
“We’re not broke.”
The family of four started to leave the museum as you walked hand in hand with Percy as he munched on the remainder of your pretzel. You weren’t going to fight him about it because you were getting another one.
“Are you sure?”
“Yes, sweetie, I’m sure.”
“You’re not very convincing, mom.” You skipped to the pretzel stand with Percy by your side.
Sally smiles down at you. “Y/N takes after you,”
“Oh, please, no she does not.” Your mom scoffs in disagreement.
“Mom!” Percy yells out and he breaks his pencil in the process, startling some nearby students.
You glance at your brother in confusion, seeing he’s finally out of his trance state, returning to the harsh reality.
“I’m right here, sweetie,” Percy searched for the voice and internally shrank upon the actual voice of the person. It was Nancy, who was just publicly humiliating him in front of everybody. “Mommy’s here!” She fakely cooed, drawing out some laughs from her friends and others.
You glared at the redhead, smirking to yourself when she backed down and turned away from you two.
“Just ignore her.”
“Well, it’s getting quite hard not to. She’s like a pest, a human-sized annoying pest that you can’t get rid of.”
“Mr. Jackson and Ms. Matthews, you two will learn to control yourself, do you understand me?” You wince at the sudden harshness of Mrs. Dodds’ tone.
“Us?” Percy asked in shock, pointing to the group of girls, ready to defend himself.
“Listen here, lady, we didn’t do anything wrong—“
Mrs. Dodd sharply cut your statements off. “Do you understand me?”
“He can’t help it, Mrs. Dodds. Percy’s special.” Nancy wanted to be desperately involved. Oh, she’s definitely going to get what’s coming for her.
“I will fight you in front of everyone here and show you who’s really special.” You start to walk closer to the posse of girls but a strict voice halts your actions.
“That’s enough!” Mr. Brunner rolls over on his wheelchair to the two of you, “Pay them no mind. When you’re ready to hear what the gods have in store for you, they’ll tell you. I believe in you, in the both of you.”
“Thanks for the unnecessary inspiration, I guess,” You shrugged.
Mr. Brunner pulls two black pens from his suit, “And I believe you two will be needing this.”
Immediately, Percy accepts the pen from his teacher but you aren’t easily impressed or gullible by a basic pen.
“No, thanks, I already have an extra pen.”
“Take the pen, Ms. Matthews.” His demeanor was serious as you gulped, taking the pen out of his hand.
“It’s a pen, though.” You spoke dumbfounded, looking at the pen skeptically.
“Why, yes, Y/N, it is a pen,” Mr. Brunner nodded in agreement. Was he being sarcastic with you?
“Do you want us to write something with it for you?”
“Hang on to them. ‘Tis a mighty instrument,”
“It’s just a pen.” You argued. “If you’re that lazy to write, that’s not my problem, Mr. B.”
“Good day, Y/N.” He rolled away in his wheelchair. “I never knew a girl could have so many questions for a simple thing.” He murmurs to himself.
“What’s so special about this pen?” Your eyebrows furrowed in confusion, observing the simple black ink pen.
“Just let it go, sis.”
“I’m only doing that because lunch is finally here.” You shoved the pen into your sweater pocket.
“All you’re worried about is food.”
“Of course, what else is there to worry about? Food won’t hurt or pretend to love me, food is life.”
“Why do you always do that?”
“What do I always do?”
“Get real depressing when you’re hungry.”
“It’s either a depressing state or a bitchy state, be grateful.”
The trio sits by the huge water fountain and begins to eat their sandwiches while everyone else is talking and standing around with their friends.
“There are all sorts of schools of thought about what drives that kind of bullying. Childhood trauma, a feeling of inadequacy..” Grover lists off.
“Look I get that Nancy has issues, I’m just getting tired of her taking them out on me.” Percy exhales, “I feel like maybe it’s time we do something about it.”
“You could make an appointment with Mr. Kane.” Grover suggests, “He’s really great at talking to—“
“I was thinking more of shoving Nancy into the nearest dumpster,” Percy confesses with an innocent smile.
“Oh…” Grover raises his eyebrows, “That’s not what I really had intended in mind.”
“I like it, let’s do it.”
“No, no, no, Y/N, Percy, have you two learned nothing?”
“Hey, I do learn stuff, I just forget about the consequences…sometimes.”
“If there’s one thing I know about bullies, is that you should never ever stand up to them,” You frowned at that piece of advice.
“That doesn’t sound right.”
“It isn’t right.” You piped up. “That’s a stupidass logic, Grover, you’ll just give them more power than they actually need. The only way to stand up to them is to fight, make them scared of you after you beat their ass.”
“Look…I know this place is hard for people like us but we’re not gonna be here forever. There are better places out there.” Grover reassures his best friend.
A slice of cheese comes hurling your way and it lands on Grover’s face, echoing a smacking sound.
“Oops…” Nancy smirks, balling up the piece of garbage in her hand and walking away.
“Percy….”
You piped up, opening the bag of chips, “Just don’t do anything I wouldn’t do,”
Percy abruptly stands up, frustration consuming his mind, storming over to Nancy and holding his hand out. At first, Nancy stared at him unimpressed with a teasing smile to further anger your brother. Seriously, what was going on with your eyes today?! First, words were disoriented on your paper and now Percy had telekinetically thrown Nancy into the nearby fountain. He did all that within a few feet, possibly two feet away from the redhead girl.
The girl went flying back a few feet in the air, screaming at her sudden height before landing into the fountain. You stare in pure amazement at the sight, laughing slightly at the girl’s hysterics.
How was he able to do that? Did you have that same ability?
“Shit…I would have done the same thing.” You admitted.
“Percy pushed me!” Is the first thing she shouts that causes you to rush over to Percy’s aid.
“What, no I didn’t!” Percy stammers.
There were murmurs and crude looks sent in your brother’s direction but you ignored it.
Judgmental looks were the least of your concerns, moreover, the annoying buzzing sound getting louder. You found the source, furiously shaking in your sweater as you hesitantly pulled the shaking pen out.
“There you are.” A familiar voice rang out, capturing the siblings’ attention. It was Mrs. Dodds’ voice and she was walking menacingly toward you two. The woman still telepathically speaks.
“We’re not fools, Percy Jackson & Y/N Matthews.
“Mrs. Dodds, you okay?”
“It was only a matter of time before we found you two,”
Your heart pounded in your chest as you gripped Percy’s wrist on instinct by your protective nature, pulling him behind you. Both watched as she stalked closer…and it looked like she was transforming into a creature. Slowly but surely, wings started to sprout from her back and her true body revealed itself.
Mrs. Dodds wasn’t even a pretty creature either, yet you only appreciate her color of scales.
“Where is it, half-bloods?” She steps on the stairs of the fountain, “Where is it?” The creature flies above you as the sibling duo stumbles back, fearful of current threats. Too appalled by the sight of everything, Percy held onto your hand tighter as he hid behind you, resting his face in your sweater. As long as he had you by his side, he’d be fine, that’s what his parents said.
‘Protect each other and you’ll be fine. Love and care for each other and you’ll be fine. Don’t ever turn your back on each other, you’re blood siblings and that’s never changing.’
All of a sudden, she plummets down at the two of you with the intent of attacking. Her height is as intimidating as she looks and you internally bite back a gulp. You just hoped she couldn’t smell emotion, and use that to her advantage because your fear was too distinctive right now.
“Hmmm….not you…you can put up a fight,” She glared at you.
Instead of attacking you first, she decided to take Percy, knowing he was too young to understand anything. So she uses her wing to shove you away from your brother, her strength forcing you to separate from the blonde.
“No, Y/N!” Percy yells as you go flying back and crash landing into the hot dog stand truck.
Once you are down, Mrs. Dodds redirects her attention to Percy with a hiss, and the blonde stumbles backward, desperately trying to escape but falls down.
In a second, the monster is on top of him, her clawed fingers briefly skimming over the color of his shirt as she analyzes the terrified boy, “Where is it, half-blood?”
“No,” You whisper, tightening the pen’s grasp, viewing the scared interaction of your brother and that creature.
Hastily getting up from the ground, staring in bewilderment at the transformed gold sword. Huh, guess it was more than an actual pen.
Stabbing the creature in her back, ignoring her first hiss, repeatedly stabbing the monster until it was fully weakened as she eventually began to disintegrate into brown dust.
After the monster dies, you stagger onto the floor, barely sitting down with sense.
“Y/N…” His voice becomes disoriented as your vision changes into a black abyss and everything goes silent.
“Are they dead?” Someone asked.
“Are they okay?”
Managing to open your tired eyes to see a circle around, looking down on you as a groan left your mouth.
“Give them some room, please.”
By the kind demand, some students disappear, mingling back with their friends while Grover stays behind, helping you and Percy off the ground.
“What happened?” Percy breathlessly asked.
You glimpsed over at a drenched Nancy with a towel wrapped around her shoulders, who was glaring daggers at your brother while being comforted by some strange woman.
Turns out, Nancy actually got what she deserved a few minutes later and it was hilarious and shocking at the same time.
“Where’s Mrs. Dodds?”
Percy’s question goes unanswered.
“I didn’t do anything to him.” Nancy exclaims and the woman escorts her away, “He pushed me.”
“Everybody go back to your lunches.” He commands the other students, who still stare and murmur amongst themselves at the sibling duo. “It’s all right Y/N and Percy, just need a moment, that’s all.”
“I didn’t understand, didn’t anyone just see that? Where’s Mrs. Dodds?” You persisted.
At your question, Mr. Brunner and Grover shared a glance.
“Y/N, there’s no one here by that name,”
“Yes, there was. She had white hair in a 1950s hairstyle, wore a trench coat, and totally gave off creeper stalker vibes.
“As I said before, there’s no one here by that name.”
“You sure?” Percy questions.
“I’m quite sure,” Mr. Brunner reaffirms with a tight-lipped smile, “All right, class, let’s move soon. Let’s go, finish your lunches.”
Long story short, all three of you got called into the principal’s office, and heavily questioned because of the earlier incident with Nancy. This talk was definitely not going to be good. By the time you were ready to leave, Grover shocked you with his statement, claiming he saw Percy push Nancy into the fountain.
Observing your brother’s reaction to his best friend’s huge lie, betrayed by the other boy, ultimately thinking he was just like the rest. You gave him a small smile, rubbing his back to reassure him that you were there for him. That’s what you always do, protect and love your younger brother like your life depends on it.
Guess, that’s the end of going to this school, you and Percy are going home! Might as while call your parents and inform them of your early visitation.
Sitting on a bench with your belongings beside you, Percy looks gloomy, probably still portraying Grover’s betrayal in his mind. He seemed to be out of it and you didn’t bother him either. This was his time to reflect on everything that happened so far.
“None of this is easy,” Mr. Brunner strolled in, “Not for you two, not for any of us. I’m very concerned about you two, I saw what happened at the museum.”
“I didn’t touch Nancy.” Percy’s self-reassurance started to sound like a plea. He just wished for Mr. Brunner to believe him, because it seemed like no one was on his side, except for you.
“I know you didn’t. At least, I know you think you didn’t.”
“Listen here, Mr. B, I saw what happened too and my brother’s telling the truth.”
“Do you want to tell me what you think happened? You can tell me. I might just understand.”
“You wanna bet?” Percy tilts his head.
“Percy…Y/N,” He lowly chuckles, “I’ve seen a lot of young people go through this sort of thing in my time, but of all of them, I suspect that…you might have the most difficult journey.”
“Oh, because that puts us at such ease,”
“It was not meant to put you at ease,” Mr. Brunner recorrects you. “I suspect that you two are special. So much more so than you know.”
“Just…stop.” The blonde boy heavily sighs. “Okay, I don’t need any more stories about how special me and my sister don’t realize we are. They aren’t helping in the slightest.”
“And I’m pretty sure I’m dyslexic,” You interrupted. “If that counts as special.”
“Ms. Matthews, you’re special but not in the way you assume.” Mr. Brunner implies.
“How is that relevant?”
“It’s not, I just wanted to feel included.”
“Of course, you do.”
A green, vintage two-seater truck pulls up, signaling your departure for returning home.
“This is our ride, we’re going home.” You spoke to the History teacher, “Get your bags, Percy, let’s go.”
Percy nods at the teacher before retrieving his bags and following into the Yancy Academy truck alongside you. Once you two were settled in the vehicle, the driver revived his engine and pulled out of the driveway.
Goodbye, Yancy Academy, you were decent while it lasted.

🧵𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝: 𝐖𝐡𝐨 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐉𝐞𝐰𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐈𝐬𝐫𝐚𝐞𝐥 𝐀𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐭? 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐭: 𝐈𝐭 𝐖𝐚𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐬.
Enough is enough, Let’s set the record straight: the claim that Arabs welcomed Jews to Israel after the Holocaust is a false narrative and just a lie. The reality is that it's a much more complex and challenging history. Here’s a comprehensive look at the real dynamics of Jewish immigration and the reception in Israel.
1/ An Ancient Bond: Jews and the Land of Israel.
Let me first say that The idea that Jews arrived in Israel only as Holocaust refugees disregards their ancient and continuous connection to the land. Jews have maintained a consistent presence in Israel for thousands of years, documented in ancient texts and archaeological findings. Cities like Jerusalem, Hebron, and Safed were significant centers of Jewish life long before the 20th century. This deep-rooted connection shows the significance of Israel to the Jewish people throughout history.
2/ The status of Israel in the 1880s
By the 1880s, when the First Aliyah began, Israel was largely neglected and in disrepair. The region suffered from economic stagnation, sparse infrastructure, and minimal habitation. Many areas were desolate, with abandoned villages and a general lack of modern amenities. Public health conditions were dire, with widespread malaria and typhoid fever, and there was a severe shortage of medical facilities and basic health care. The land had been left in a state of neglect by previous rulers and local inhabitants, who had not invested in its development.
3/ The Transformation by Jewish Immigration.
Jewish immigrants arriving in the 1880s faced severe conditions but undertook significant efforts to transform the land. They joined the local Jewish community and they established agricultural settlements, drained swamps, and developed irrigation systems, turning barren land into productive farmland. New towns and cities emerged, such as Tel Aviv, which started as a small neighborhood and grew into a bustling urban center. Their work laid the foundation for the modern state of Israel, significantly enhancing living conditions and infrastructure.
4/ Hostility from Local Arab Populations.
Despite the historical presence of Jews, the arrival of Jewish immigrants in the late 19th and early 20th centuries was met with increasing hostility from local Arabs. Many of these Arabs, who began migrating to Israel around the same time as the First Aliyah, viewed the Jewish newcomers with growing animosity. This hostility manifested in violent confrontations and revolts, such as the 1929 Hebron massacre, where 67 Jews were killed, and the Arab revolt from 1936 to 1939, which targeted Jewish settlements and British authorities. This resistance reflects the significant opposition Jews faced, contrary to claims of a warm welcome.
5/ The Arab Mufti’s Alliance with Nazi Germany.
The situation grew more complex during World War II. Haj Amin al-Husseini, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, sought an alliance with Nazi Germany. In 1941, he met with Adolf Hitler, offering support for the Nazi regime and advocating for anti-Jewish policies in Palestine. This collaboration proves again the intense hostility Arab leaders had towards Jews and their aspirations, complicating the notion of Arab support for Jewish migration.
6/ The Efforts of Local Jews to Aid Holocaust Survivors
In stark contrast to the hostility faced, local Jewish communities in Palestine went to extraordinary lengths to assist Holocaust survivors. As the horrors of the Holocaust became known, Jewish organizations in Israel, including the Jewish Agency and various relief committees, worked tirelessly to find refuge for survivors. They orchestrated complicated immigration operations, known as Aliyah Bet, to bypass British restrictions and bring Jews to Israel. The efforts of these local Jewish organizations were instrumental in providing sanctuary and rebuilding lives.
7/ The Birth of modern Israel and the 1948 War.
The Holocaust heightened the urgency for a Jewish homeland. Despite restrictive British immigration policies, many Jews found refuge in Israel. The establishment of the modern State of Israel in 1948 was met with fierce opposition from neighboring Arab countries, who rejected the creation of a Jewish state. This rejection led to the Arab-Israeli War of 1948, driven by the refusal to accept a Jewish state and resulting in significant losses for the Arab forces.
8/ Displacement and Historical Complexity.
The narrative that Jews “took away” Arab land oversimplifies a complex situation. The land of Israel has always been home to a diverse population, including Jews, Muslims, and Christians. The 1948 war and subsequent conflicts led to significant displacement on both sides, including the expulsion of Jews from Arab countries and the creation of Palestinian refugees. This complexity reflects a turbulent history rather than a simple story of land grabbing.
9/ Refuting the “Jews Left” Myth.
The claim that Jews left Israel and returned only after the Holocaust is misleading. The fluctuating Jewish population in Israel over the years does not negate the fact that Jews have consistently maintained a presence there. The migration waves of the 1880s and 1920s demonstrate a profound connection to the land, driven by historical and spiritual significance, not by temporary circumstances.
Saying that Jews left Israel and came back only after the Holocaust is like saying that pasta isn’t Italian because there was a shortage in the 1930s. The essence of our connection to the land has remained unbroken, despite periods of challenge and fluctuation. Just as Italian cuisine remains Italian regardless of temporary shortages, the historical and spiritual bond of Jews to Israel endures despite the changing dynamics over time.
11/ Conclusion: Resilience Through Truth
The ongoing attempts to distort, manipulate, or deny Jewish heritage and historical facts only serve to strengthen our resolve and unity. No one welcomed us to Israel after the Holocaust but the local Jewish community, who worked tirelessly to provide refuge and rebuild lives. Despite the efforts to alter or obscure these historical truths, they remain steadfast and undeniable.
We will not let you change our history. No matter how much people try to change this fact, it won’t work. Throughout history, countless attempts have been made to erase or undermine the Jewish people, and each time, these efforts have failed. Today, with a strong and thriving State of Israel, it is not only misguided but delusional to believe that such attempts can succeed. The more history is challenged or distorted, the closer and stronger we become as a people. Our connection to the land, our historical narrative, and our cultural identity are deeply ingrained and resilient, reinforcing our unbreakable bond to the land and our unwavering strength as a nation.

"i could be a better boyfriend than him"
boyfriend - dove cameron
💌:: hi hi hiii! im rn suuuuper busy but i just had this idea i need to write it asapp!!! Its another drabble thoughhhh:( i js cant be stuck w writing one long fic!! Was gonna put fluff in here but i scrapped the idea<3
dom!college!ellie williams x f!reader
warnings bbg: mdni!!! fingering, smut generally, toxic releationship, pet names???
summary: reader having an asshole of a boyfriend and ellie being reader's bestfriend thinks she could be a better boyfriend.
---☆
You came rushing to ellie's apartment elevator with tears mixed with mascara drailing down your face. Geez, you had a rough day. You quickly pressed number 5, that's the floor ellie is on.
Luckly no one was in the elevator with you so nobody had to see you being a mess. You grabbed your phone while still being in the elevator and quickly texted ellie.
You
Els, im a minute away from your room.
You got out of the elevator and found ellie's apartment door. Your just hoping she's isn't outside, i mean she has no classes at this time as she told you this morning.
You knocked on the door nervously, scared if she wasn't home. Then the door opened-- phew! She is home.
Ellie stops and looks at you top to bottom. "Hey what's wrong?" She asked in a soft voice. "I-" ellie stops you. "Wait, come inside first" she insisted.
You came in her apartment room dropping your bag on the floor and broke into tears. "is it your boyfriend again? What did he do to you this time?" She hugged you while patting your head gently.
"I- i j- just asked him to-" you sobbed again. "To- to go to come over a- and he said h-he couldn't" you sniffed. "W-when i asked-- why? He said he had a lot of assigments unfinished and he's busy-" ellie whiped a tear running down your cheeks.
"B-b-but when i went back to campus- to get the books i left, i- i saw him with aliyah- a- and t-they k- kissed.." ellie looked at you with pure sympathy. "Sit down" she told you.
You sat on her bed next to her. "B-but aliyah is dating that popular guy..." you sobbed. "She dates the whole campus y/n, just dump him! Your better on your own"
"But- if i dumped him, i- id hurt him..." you told her. Ellie looks at you in disbelief "your kidding right?" Said in a slightly mocking tone. "So your feel sorry for him?" She scoffs "funny. After making you cry for hours every single day? Never had time for you and instead he's hooking up with other hoes like that bitch aliyah?"
You avoided eye contact with ellie, she sounded angry. "So i'm just gonna let him hurt my g- bestfriend like that?" You shake your head slowly. "You still going to be with him? Come on, your not a loser" she mocked you.
"Your not going back with him. Im not letting him hurt you again. Enough is enough" you looked at her with soggy eyes still.
Ellie got closer to your face and whispered to your ears. "I could be a better boyfriend than him"
Suddenly she pushes you to the wall. "You are not going back to him" she stared at you coldly. She lifts up your chin. "Els...-" she kissed you a bit harsh while gripping on your shorts. You looked at her. Don't know how to react.
"Don't be an idiot, your better alone, or..." she towers over you on her bed practically pinning you to the wall. "...With me"
She pulls the top of your tanktop with her right hand and pulled down one of the strap with her left hand. "Ellie...." you whined. "Who do you belong to now?" She asked you demandingly. "Y-you"
You were so fucked up in the head, all fuzzy almost couldn't think straight. You feel drunk, this time it's not because you were at dina's and partying all night, this time its different.
It was a suprise, throughout the past 2 years, ellie does act a little 'different' with you, considering you've known her for half your life.
"You have no idea how long i've wanted to do this..." ellie whispered. You pulled ellie's shirt "can i just be yours....?" You muttered.
Ellie smirked and scoffs a bit mockingly "your mine" she said in a tone you've never heard before. She pulled down both of the straps of your tanktop and pulled it down.
She kissed your neck, biting it.... leaving marks. God, how are you going to cover this up? You started groaning.
"You smell nice, did your boyfriend bought you this parfume?" She stopped and looks at you. "N-no... i bought it mysel- shit..." she slid down the pretty shorts you wore.
"Better huh? Its getting hot in here" she smiled at took off her shirt and damn... she works out a lot doesn't she?
Ellie pushed her knuckle on your clothes cunt. "S'wet babe, who did this to you?" She asked. "Don'know" you mumbled. She pulled down your underwear and you gasped slightly. She suddenly inserts one digit in you. "Do you know now?" She asked again. "S'you- its you els"
She curled her finger in you. "-eghh.... el-ellie....." god your totally fuck up, its only one finger- and again, she puts another digit in you as you clenched around her fingers.
"Your so pretty..." ellie spat out those words making you blush like crazy. Its not like she never compliments you, she always compliment you every time you two meet and you put so much effort to your clothes i mean this time you were barely wearing anything.
You keep on moaning and groaning, shes is doing something to you. Then she pulled out both her digits and starts edging you. "Ff-fuck fuck fuuckk.." you yelled out.
"Y'gonna cum for me sweetie?" She asked. "S--soon, p-probablly i-" you came on her hand with a moan as you reached your climax. "Good girl" she praised you.

...
Okay, so here’s my fan theory on what the wedding ceremony could potentially be like.
The wedding party and their roles:
The guest list:
I’m not sure how religious either Suletta or Miorine are, but given that faux churches are popular for Western-style weddings in Japan, I’d guess they’d likely have their ceremony in that sort of setting regardless. It’ll be a small, invite-only affair, and Miorine will do her best to divert any possible media attention.
Suletta insists on still referring to her role as Groom (how very gender of her), while Miorine’s role as Bride is self-explanatory (unless you haven’t watched the show...but if that’s so, why are you reading this?).
Since Celebrant (or Officiant, if you prefer) is both one of the most important roles aside from Bride and Groom, and pretty much only requires talking, it’s perfect for Ericht in her current state (though I think it’s likely they’d link her communication device to a Haro for better visibility and voice projection for the guests), and is fitting for her as both sister of the groom and someone who played a huge role in helping Suletta and Miorine get together in the first place. And yes, while a Haro celebrant might seem an odd choice in-universe, keep in mind that:
We’ve already seen a Haro as a therapist, so it stands to reason they might be used in other speaking capacities as well.
This is not a legally binding ceremony, so Ericht doesn’t require any credentials whatsoever.
Screw the rules, Miorine has money.
Best Maid vs. Maid of Honor (as well as the whole bride and groom parties in general) prompted some debate amongst Earth House, since by this point in time all of them feel close to both bride and groom. In the end though, I think they would reason that Chuchu, as Suletta’s senpai who helped her through some very dark times, would make the most sense as Suletta’s Best Maid, while Nika, being the first member of Earth House to grow close to Miorine (and honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s why she had to ‘vanish’ from the plot for awhile, so that Miorine wouldn’t have a peer confidant that she could consult with while trying to deal with the Prospera-Suletta situation) and the one who prompted Miorine to risk being honest with her feelings about Suletta, would be best as Mio’s Maid of Honor.
The rest of Earth House divvied themselves between bride and groom based on two factors:
Working relationship - Martin, Lilique, and Till tended to have more administrative duties back in Asticassia, and consequently have worked a lot with Miorine, while Ojelo, Nuno, and Aliyah tended toward a lot more ‘hands-on’ work alongside Suletta.
Aesthetics - Miorine’s party is dressed in shades of blue, Suletta’s is dressed in shades of red, so Earth House members also chose based on which they’d prefer to wear for the ceremony.
Since queer marriage is considered normal in this setting, Till and Martin do not express any discomfort with being bridesmen, nor do Chuchu and Aliyah with being groomsmaids (if anything, they probably take some quiet pride in it).
I’m going with the fan theory that Prospera Mercury, former CEO of Shin Sei, was declared legally dead 3 years ago, and that Suletta was taken in (and legally adopted) by her mother’s previously missing ‘sister’, Elnora Samaya, who acts as Mother of the Groom, escorting Suletta down the aisle in her wheelchair.
I’m not sure if Miorine has gone full no-contact with her father or not, but even assuming she’s allows him to attend via space!Zoom call, she asks Rajan, one of the very few people she had a decent relationship with pre-Suletta, to act in her father’s stead as Father of the Bride.
Incidentally, Elnora and Rajan are seated as far apart from each other as possible at all times.
Sabina and the other ex-Grassley ladies are perfect for the role of ushers, directing guests to their seats and generally troubleshooting and making sure the ceremony goes smoothly. As Head Usher, Sabina remains near Suletta in particular, in case the latter over-exerts herself and needs assistance. Secretly, they also double as security, and are equipped with (non-lethal) arms to disable any potential troublemakers, with Sabina acting as the personal bodyguard of both Suletta and Miorine.
Guel, Felsi, and Petra have all forged connections with GUND-Arm, Inc. (and Lauda too, I guess), so their invitation seems likely.
Elan Ceres is also ostensibly attending the ceremony, but in truth, he remained behind to mind the business while No. 5, who actually developed a bond with Earth House, attends in his stead.
Rouji seems to be working with GUND-Arm in some capacity, and Secelia is likely still on good terms, so they’re invited as well.
Belmeria and Guston are also invited for their previous assistance.
Godoy is invited by Suletta on the basis she wanted her mom to have some friendly company, but he is thoroughly inspected for any concealed arms.
It initially looks like either Guel or Lauda will be the one to catch the bouquet, but at the last moment Felsi snatches it instead.
Suletta and Miorine then opt to travel to Japan for their honeymoon (in a nod to the Japan tours that were shown between Season 1 and 2).
Continuing my thoughts, have you guys read that theory where the reason why we never saw their wedding is because it hasn't happened yet
LIKE in Japan only family members are allowed to stay overnight in the hospital with the patient, so the nurse had to break this to sulemio like
Nurse: Sorry, only family are allowed to stay overnight :(
Miorine: Okay BET, watch me
And Miorine just comes in the next day with a marriage license because she wants to be with Suletta as soon as possible and support Suletta in her journey to recovery
The reason why the wedding hasn't happened yet despite the fact Miorine's a nepo baby ceo and can definitely afford it easily is because Nika was in jail for three years and Nika had helped them out lots in season 1 and they can't have a wedding without THE sulemio believer present, like that's their groomsmaiden-bridesman

X-Men: The End - Review
Book 1: Dreamers and Demons
In one of Chris Claremont's many ill-advised returns to the X-books, he set about writing a hypothetical and non-canon end to the series. Set about 15 years in the future, the story travels to every corner of the X universe - if briefly - so if nothing else everyone gets an answer for where their favourite character ends.
Greg Land did the cover. I hate Greg Land.
I praise it mostly on a conceptual level. Pretty much every long running corner of the MU received a 'The End' mini, but Claremont split it up into 3 separate miniseries. Captain America and Iron Man both got 5 issues, KISS (yes, the band) got 3, the X-Men got 18. As someone who always wanted characters to die, grow and retire but was often foiled or undone by fiat - I respect that he'd want to do it properly. However, more is not always better. It's fun, cringe, and nonsensical at times. A LOT of people die unceremoniously. Don't take it too seriously.
The first few pages sets up that that 15 years have seriously passed. People are dead and retired, some have kids that look exactly like them, the never aging kids grew up. The Shi'Ar are killing X-Men, like a lot of them, except they're doing it in disguise. Jean Grey has returned as the Phoenix and is hanging out with (kidnapped him while he was doing Letterman lol) Nightcrawler, Carol Danvers' hologram, and Aliyah - the child of Bishop and Deathbird.
Here she is going for an expository jog down memory lane.
We spend a little time getting to know her, as she's the closest thing to a viewpoint character. She's inexperienced and way out of her depth, but her heroic instincts are sharp. Interestingly she 'doesn't really care about the Shi'Ar.' Aliyah lives on the Starjammer with a pretty impressive holodeck, she's never met her dad, her mum is holding the Shi'Ar empire together and her best mate is holo Danvers. Lilandra is apparently 'mad.'
Immediately Kree slavers approach Chandilar and Claremont begins clearing the board. Madrox and Siryn die for real, Nocturne is a hound and Aliyah manages to knock her out and take her to the ship. Phoenix comes out of nowhere and begins wrecking shit and the Kree do the same.
Also, WarSkrulls.
If it sounds like confusing nonsense, that's because it is. The first third of the miniseries is about establishing Aliyah and checking in on various X-Men before killing most of them. Seriously, it's easier for me to list who lives rather than who dies. It's confusing but I think it works as front loading the deaths so books 2 and 3 have a more manageable cast of characters. If you plan to stick the landing, it's going to be easier to trim the decades of bloat/worldbuilding the X-books have received.
We get a brief overview of Earth stuff before they start to die, though everyone in these panels lives (mostly hehe). Kitty Pryde is running for president with Rachel as her campaign manager! Storm and Logan live together and he's her full time caretaker. Emma and Scott have two kids. Cable hunts terrorists apparently.
Here's the Summerses. A lot of people wear speed dealer sunnies in the future, with Cyclops even saying SPEED right there. Coincidence? Also their children are boring.
You'll note the daughter may as well be a clone of Emma (she isn't but you know what I mean.) The baby is called Alex after long dead Havok, definitely tempting fate there. I'd sooner call my child Omega Red, but I'm not a parent. Chuck pokes his big bald head in and Emma tells him to beat it. Scott checks in with folks all over the globe, many of whom die. He is concerned of course.
Told you. Rogue and Gambit live and they definitely saw The Matrix. This isn't plot relevant - this is just how they roll apparently.
Hank and Cecilia McCoy live and they do *something* in Africa. Doctor stuff I think? This book moves so damn quickly. They live but everyone around them dies. Hank is right about the mutant problem. The named X-Men body count is at 18 by book 3.
Hey Yukio! Come to homoerotically kill Ororo, huh? DW, she wins despite full paralysis. Don't fuck with Storm. At this point we find out ALL these assassins are WarSkrulls sent by the Shi'Ar. Storm's powers have wrecked her body btw to the point Logan feeds her and she kinda wants to die. 😭
Madeline Pryor, Stryfe, and some weirdo I don't know come for the X-Mansion. Dust dusts Maddie Pryor. That dude getting punched by Not!Stryfe is the son of Colossus and Polaris. Yeah he looks exactly like Colossus. Nice to get confirmation of Polaris' awful taste in men. She does have a dope butch short hair look that slaps, so it's not all bad choices and emotionally stunted communists.
Nearly everyone else not pictured is dead as a doornail, ash and bone at best. Claremont was pretty damn thorough - 90% of the X-Men and their allies dead. Apocalypse bit the dust too, in a pretty embarrassing way. Of course Sinister lives because he's working with the Shi'Ar but has his own agenda, as usual. They're starting to realise that the Shi'Ar sent the WarSkrulls, but the preemptive strikes were super effective. Book 1 ends on the Starjammer with the passengers realising Cassandra Nova has been Lilandra all this time.
I'm sorry, CHUCKY sends me. No cap. I could write an essay on this panel and invite speculation.
The last page has the Xavier Institute's singularity power core exploding after that lot end up also being WarSkrulls sent by the Shi'Ar - looks like having the school be built mostly from Shi'Ar tech backfired. The school is definitely gone - along with at least the state of New York but I suspect much more - then a smash cut to this masterpiece. Callisto with fucking tentacles for arms saying 'Chucky?' as Chuck is overwhelmed by grief. I'm assuming they're in a polycule with Mags over here, but it must gall him to be the third most dramatic person in a scene. It's just too much to respond without some kind of levity, but if it wasn't clear by now - the stage is being cleared ruthlessly. Northstar was at the school, so maybe some people survived but Claremont is not half arsing it. This is definitely a whole arse situation, maybe even more.
DUN DUN DUN 🫠
Wait what? Chuck's evil twin, the Mummudrai? Hectic! So we know we've just seen Cassandra Nova send many WarSkrull strike teams after X-Men in the form of people that will hurt them psychologically and it was very successful. Hmm... it's 15 years in the future - does that mean she's been leading Bird Gang this whole time? No Xandra in this timeline but the X-Men interact with the Shi'Ar a lot. That's some wild patience for Cassandra Nova, and the notion that she's been preparing all this time is terrifying. My God, all the X-Men are going to die aren't they? Maybe, though I can't stop thinking about how Lilandra Nova would have handled a booty call from Chucky. Ughh gross.
I think it's worth saying that the high amount of action is a YMMV sitch - I personally can do without no punching at all in a book, and get frustrated when a mandated and arbitrary fight happens just because that's what cape comics do. Just because action has to be special to wow me doesn't mean I don't recognise its value, mainly I believe we can demand more from our comics - as an evolved art form instead of the pulp it began as. What I said earlier about front loading the death applies to the action too. I suspect your enjoyment of this book will come down to your feelings on action or ability to appreciate it ironically/unseriously.
I'll leave part one there, though I want to point out that Sunspot is whitewashed so badly he looks like Shawn Mullins. At least he dies - I love Bobby Da Costa but I'd prefer no Sunspot to dorky white guy Sunspot. Stay tuned for part 2 and thank fuck that's over. Spinning a coherent narrative from a book without one is a challenge, especially with only 10 pictures to work with. I considered counting and listing all the deaths, but I got to 30 and realised I wasn't enjoying it and doubted anyone else would. I'm not a wiki, and hopefully I've done my job while leaving some meat on the bones for folks who still want to read it. Don't worry, Kitty's presidential run is still live and it's implied she won the primaries. Independent? As if. Definitely a democrat, because the X-Men are mostly centrist bitches. Still, I hope she wins and First Lady Rachel and her achieve something.
I haven't been doing much long form lately so I welcome any feedback you might have. 💜💜❤️

FEVER VS SUN IN UNCASVILLE, CT - PLAYOFFS GAME 2
Photos by Christopher Hall
Throughout her first season in the WNBA, Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark was an unprecedented TV draw for the league. It was only fitting, then, that Clark helped set one final viewership record in her last game of the season—even in defeat.
The Connecticut Sun's 87–81 victory over the Fever in Game 2 of the WNBA first round Wednesday drew a television audience of 2.5 million viewers on ESPN—the largest cable audience in the history of the league.
Caitlin Clark led the Fever in scoring with 25 points, six rebounds, nine assists, one steal and one block. Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston had 17 points and 16 points respectively. Boston also grabbed 19 rebounds in the game, becoming the first player in WNBA postseason history to achieve that stat since Rebekkah Brunson on September 24, 2015.
With the win, the Sun win the best-of-three first round series, 2-0, and advance to the WNBA Semifinals for the sixth consecutive season. Alyssa Thomas led the way for Connecticut with a double-double, notching 19 points, 13 assists, five rebounds and one steal in the win. The outing marked her second straight game this postseason with 13 assists and her 22nd career postseason double-double, which is good for third all-time in WNBA playoff history, tying Sylvia Fowles. Thomas played all 40 minutes in tonight’s game, notching her 10th career postseason game doing so.

legally binded - drabble (1)
Jenna Ortega x F!Reader
masterlist | series mast. |
Drabble #1: The Week in Coachella
Summary: After getting caught in some hot waters with the press, you are forced into an unexpected agreement with America's sweetheart, Jenna Ortega to save your career.
Warnings/Tags: dual!pov, famous!reader, actress!reader, mentions of substances, intoxication, mature language, real people. (do not read if any of these make you uncomfortable)
(this is all fiction!)
Note: a little insight as to the ‘domestic bliss’ J was referring to 👀 this takes place during chapter 4, the week leading up to R’s peformance. the first of many drabbles (hopefully)
Word Count: 3.8k+
Monday:
“Turn it off… Jenna, turn it off!”
You whined, aimlessly swiping your hand on the covers in hopes it hits the other actress.
The alarm blaring rudely in the dark, quiet air interrupted the solitude of the early morning.
You hear her groans but it sounded muffled under the lump of covers and pillows. “You turn it off…”
“Jenna…” You groaned but she still refused to move from her seemingly comfortable position. With a huff, you throw the covers off your head, squinting in the unlit room. The sun hasn’t even risen yet, what the fuck?
Reaching over Jenna’s body, you grabbed your phone on her bedside table. You must have fallen asleep with it in your hand again and Jenna must have placed it there for you.
“It’s not even mine.” You muttered, reaching for her phone instead and snoozing the alarm. Then you flung yourself back into your side of the bed, sighing in satisfaction because the annoying alarm wasn’t blaring in your eardrums anymore.
“Was it my phone?” Jenna lifted the cover off her head but remained under. Her hair is a mess after a night of tossing and turning and yet she still looked… pretty. You’re not blind, she’s gorgeous but there’s something about her, being the first thing you wake up to that makes your heart palpitate uncomfortably.
Probably heartburn from last night’s dinner. Yeah. That’s it.
“Mhmm.” You hummed. It’s too early for words.
She groaned dropping the covers to hide again. “I have pick up at 5.”
“You’re working?” You questioned.
“Yeah, I forgot to tell you.” You hear and feel the shuffles of Jenna climbing out of the covers. “Are you going to be okay being alone with my family today?”
Cracking a single eye open and even through the darkness in the room, you see her brows knitted worriedly. “I’ll be fine, Jenna. I’ve been here for two days now, I’m settled in.”
“Are you sure? You can come with me to set if you want. I think I’m only filming some promo videos of Dior.” She urged. When you hear the concern in her voice, you opened your eyes fully, sitting up.
“Jen, I’ll be okay. I promise. It’ll be nice to just chill today too ‘cause I’m not needed for soundcheck again until Thursday.” You reassured, blindly placing your hand on her bare thigh.
You feel her tense under your touch and you were about to pull away and apologize, not meaning to place your hand there but she placed her palm atop yours. “Okay… but if you need me to come back–”
“I won’t need to, but I will text you if anything happens, stop worrying.” You rolled your eyes, pulling your burning hand away. “Now go get ready before you’re late. I will be going to bed.”
“How can you go back to sleep so easily?” She questioned, climbing out of the covers.
“Mhmm… magic.” You slur, already on the verge of sleeping.
You miss Jenna watching you for a few, long seconds with a fond smile after you’ve fallen asleep. You also miss her panic once she realized what she was doing, promptly turning on her heel to walk into the bathroom.
***
It was around 8:30 when you woke up again and like last time, it wasn’t on your own accord.
“Dad says wake up.” You spring up from the bed, eyes still closed.
You weren’t even sure if you were still dreaming but you swore you heard a voice.
“Over here.” Blinking your eyes open, you see Aliyah leaning against the doorframe with a smug smile. “Nice hair, is this what Jenna’s been waking up to every morning?”
“I see you and her share the same need to make fun of me.” You grumbled, wiping your eyes as they adjusted to the sunlight peering into the room.
“Mhmm. That’s how the family shows we care, we tease.” The younger girl shrugged, “Now come on, there’s breakfast downstairs and then chores.”
“Chores?” You asked but she already left.
Fucking chores? What the hell did you sign up for?
Swiftly, you threw on a presentable sweatsuit and brushed your teeth before hopping down the steps. From the moment you opened the door, you could already smell savoury waft of the morning meal awaiting you in the kitchen.
When you round the corner, entering the dining room everyone was already there, “Good morning.”
“Good morning, sweetheart.” Natalie smiled when she saw you. “Sorry Aliyah woke you up like that,”
You see her send her daughter a warning glance but you just laughed, waving it off. “No, it’s alright. Worked like a charm.”
“Come sit and eat.” She ushered, and you noted her uniform.
“I assume you’re working today?”
“Yes, it’s just going to be you kids in the house today.”
With Coachella weekend coming up, you had forgotten you were currently staying in a house with people who worked regular, 9-5 jobs.
“Oh, alright.” You smiled gratefully when the matriarch placed a plate of food in front of you.
“Dad and I have to go, you guys be safe okay? Call if you need anything.” She called out to the rest of her kids.
“You guys are carpooling?” Mia asked.
“Yup, the car’s not starting again.” The man grumbled, rising from his seat.
You perk up at that comment. “I can take a look at it for you if you want?”
All heads turn to you.
“You know cars?” Jenna’s dad asked, skeptical. This is the first time you’ve talked directly to the man.
“Yes sir.” You clear your throat, sitting up straighter. There was something about the man, maybe it was his constant silence or just Dads in general that made you a bit tense and feel out of your depth. “Used to work on them with my best friend, just a hobby but I learned a thing or two.”
He raised a brow but didn’t say anything. Natalie spoke up for him. “You don’t have to do that Y/N, but we would appreciate it regardless.”
You nodded, sending them a small smile. Aware that the man still hasn’t given you an answer but hey, you’ll take what you can get.
“We gotta go.” The parents bid goodbye and when the door shut, an awkward silence hung in the hair.
You keep your head down and pretend your breakfast was the most interesting thing on Earth.
“So, you got plans today?” Mia asked.
Lifting your head, you pointed to yourself, “Me?”
“Who else?” She raised a brow, and suddenly you’re made aware that sarcasm runs in the family.
Rolling your eyes playfully, you drop your spoon. “I don’t have plans.”
“Perfect. We’re all doing something.” Mia grinned.
You looked at Aliyah and Markus sending them apprehensive looks. “I… don’t like the way you said that.”
“Relax, superstar… when was the last time you let loose?” Mia grinned leaning on her elbows.
You glanced at the three siblings warily, “Fine… but if Jenna asks, it wasn’t my idea.”
“We’ll deal with her.” Aliyah matched her sister’s grin.
***
“This was your idea of letting loose?” You heaved exasperatedly, leaning against the leather headrest of the driver’s seat.
The three siblings’ laugh resounds around you, agitating you further. Is this what it was like to have siblings? Maybe you’re not missing out on much.
“I thought you were an action star? Don’t you guys get paid to work out for Marvel?” Aliyah asked from the backseat.
“I’m out of commission.” You glared through the rearview mirror. “And I hate hiking… why did we pick that?”
You started the ignition, cranking the AC to full blast and sighing in relief as the cool air relieves your sticky-red skin.
“I don’t know if you’ve noticed. But there isn’t much to do around here.” Markus piqued up from beside his sister. “So when we all get together, we like to go hiking. Jen can’t make it most of the time, but I guess you’re the next best thing.”
He joked prompting his sisters to laugh but you flushed under the suggestion. You chose not to comment, instead pulling out of the parking spot. Clearing your thickening throat, you asked, “Where to?”
When you get back to the house, you're instantly met with an unimpressed look from the actress.
“You guys hung out without me?” Jenna crossed her arms as she stood in the foyer of her home, watching her siblings plus you trickle into the house. It’s fair to say that the younger actress was quite confused when she came back to an empty house.
“Yup…” Mia responded, sipping on her drink as she walked passed the shorter actress.
One by one, she glared at each of her siblings as they walked passed her until only you remained. You smiled sheepishly, holding out a drink. “They said you always get this smoothie… don’t be mad?”
Jenna stared at the drink in your hands. Her heart fluttered wildly in her chest. “Thanks…”
You send a large, goofy smile, pleased with yourself, “No worries.”

Tuesday:
The jury’s still up for debate if you’re enjoying yourself.
See you thought you were. Sure sharing a single queen bed with Jenna is… less than ideal, the home-cooked dinners have been delicious, and her family has been nothing but hospitable. You should be having a good time, right? Except, right now you’re seriously debating changing your answer cause you’re stuck.
Tied down, would be a better description.
“Jenna, please. Help!” You managed to pull out a free arm from one of her cousin’s firm grip.
Why do these kids have such strong hands?
Jenna turned at the sound of your desperation, cutting her conversation with her sisters short then she laughed, taking her phone out to record.
“No, please.” You nearly cried out, flailing your free hand.
“Show us your superpowers, Spider-Woman!” Another child yelled, jumping in front of you.
“Ow..” Your footing stumbles with the added weight, trying to hold the kid up in your arms.
“I count… one, two, three… oh and there's a fourth one hiding behind your legs, how cute.” Jenna circles you, recording all the children clinging onto you for dear life.
“Jenna, please. I’m gonna drop this child…” You begged again, arms burning uncomfortably.
You’re one kid away from toppling over if she doesn’t help you. If you do, you’re taking her down with you.
“I thought you do action movies? Use that action star training…” Jenna teased just like her sister, in turn, you glared menacingly.
“If I do go down, I’m taking you with me…”
She rolled her eyes, put her phone away then walked over to grab the kid in your arms. “Come on, guys… let’s give her some space.” She shooed off.
They groaned, echoing ‘you’re no fun’ at Jenna, and you’d laugh at her offended face if you weren’t thankful that you feel 100 pounds lighter.
“You sure took your time,” You scoffed at her, watching as Jenna lets the toddler down on the ground after she got too fussy in her arms.
“Mmm… it was just too adorable.” She pulled out her phone to show you the multiple pictures of your panicked face, flailing hand and the small army of kids sticking to your side.
“Delete that…” You attempted to swipe her phone, but she stuck her arm out of reach, too quick for you.
“No!” She laughed, leaning back. You leaned forward, trying to swipe at the phone again but she pressed her hips against yours — pushing you back.
“Delete it!” You grabbed the dip in her waist with one hand; the phone now just at the tip of your fingers.
Jenna curled into a ball, clutching the phone to her chest making you wrap your arms around her body – practically embracing her.
“Seriously?” You laughed at the childish antics.
“Let me keep it!” She snickered, body shaking as she laughed and you couldn’t help but join in, forgetting about the embarrassing photos.
“Fine.” Rolling your eyes, you dropped your arms to your side, stepping back. “But if you post that, you’re dead.”
Jenna uncurled, standing straight with a lop-sided smile, “Who’s gonna stop me?”
You stare back challengingly but once you saw the up flick of her brow, you knew it was a done deal. With a sigh and a drop of a head, you muttered. “Whatever…”
Then you walked back to your seat beside her sisters.
Reaching down on the grass to grab your drink, you pretend not to hear Aliyah and Mia telling Jenna that you two are cute.
Pulling out your phone, you ignore everything going on around you. You feel Jenna take her seat beside you.
“Hey Y/N,” Aliyah spoke up, phone in hand.
You flick a brow up, “What’s up?”
“You know this song?” She tapped her phone, connecting it to the speaker and playing a song that sounded faintly familiar.
Furrowing your brows, you shake your head, glancing at Jenna who had a confused look as well. “No? Did I write it?”
“You don’t know what songs you wrote?” Jenna asked, turning to you.
“No? There’s too many and sometimes if it doesn’t fit me, I just take writing credit or I produce it for someone else.” You shrugged.
Aaliyah shook her head, gaining your attention. “No, listen.” She smirked.
When the singer started singing, you froze, the tips of your ears reddening.
“I don’t get it?” Jenna asked.
“This is Nonsense by Sabrina Carpenter,” Aaliyah commented.
“Okay?” Jenna was lost. “Am I missing something?”
“Nope. I don’t think so— you wanna go for a walk?” You stood up swiftly, nearly giving Jenna whiplash as her eyes followed your movements.
You wiggle your fingers for her to take, but Jenna stayed put.
“Later —“ She dismissed you, turning to her sisters who wore smug smiles on their faces, “What’s so special about this song?”
“Ask her…” Aliyah nodded toward you, currently pretending like you couldn’t hear the conversation around you.
She raised her brow, noting your weird demeanour. “What’s so special about this song?”
“Nothing.” Jenna raised a brow. You sighed, sitting back down beside her with a slump, ignoring the three others piercing stares. “Except it’s about…. me, or so I’ve heard, I don’t know.”
Jenna’s brows raised in surprise, her cheeks reddening when the next line plays. “It feels so good I had to jump the octave?”
You flushed, covering your face in embarrassment. “God, this is my worst nightmare.”
Her sisters’ watched with satisfied smiles as you continued to be embarrassed, actively avoiding everyone’s eyes and Jenna, who was stunned in silence but honestly looked more bothered the longer the song played.
You’ve never actually heard the song in its entirety, too embarrassed when someone said it was about you. You only saw the other singer one, two, three maybe even four times — so you were shocked.
“How fast can you take your clothes off, pop quiz?” Jenna reiterated as the song ended.
“Please, stop!” You groaned into your palms.
If Jenna wasn’t so satisfied with your embarrassment already, she might even admit that she’s a bit… irritated, for reasons unknown.
“Okay, Aliyah enough.” Jenna glared when the song replayed by accident.
Her sisters tried to chuckle lowly, but Jenna glared until they took the hint and scurried away, leaving just you and her.
“Are they gone?” You peeked through the opening in your fingers.
“They're gone.” She chuckled, but the silence that followed was slightly awkward. “So… you and Sabrina? Didn’t know that.”
You cleared your throat, dropping your hands. “Yeah—uh. It wasn’t really anything.”
“Sounds like it was something…I mean she wrote a whole song about you.” Jenna questioned and for a second you wondered if she was jealous.
No, no way.
“That’s just fan theories and shit. I actually don’t know if it’s about me.” You felt the need to clear up. “It didn’t mean anything to me, at least.”
Jenna scanned you for a few seconds, feeling slightly uncomfortable under the intense gaze. “Mhmm. Cool.”
You blinked, unsure what that meant. But before you could say anything she’s standing, holding her hand out for you to take.
“Wanna go on that walk now?”
You nodded, slipping your fingers in between hers.

Wednesday:
“Have you seen Y/N?” Jenna peeked her head inside her brother’s room.
“Not recently…” Markus responded, not looking away from his computer screen. “I think I saw her an hour ago though.”
“Where?” She huffed, leaning against the door frame.
“Don’t remember…” He replied distractedly. Jenna sighed, knowing she wasn’t gonna get a straight answer from him.
Making her way down the stairs, she rounded the corner, entering the living room. “Has anybody seen Y/N?”
She was met with silence. “Hello?” Jenna spoke up agitated.
“She’s with Dad, relax,” Aliyah answered and the actress couldn't even hide her shock. “She’s checking the car or something.”
“They’re together? Alone?”
Her sister nodded, confused.
“Yes? Why?’
“No reason…” Jenna lied.
“Is she scared of Dad?” Aliyah asked, a smirk on her lips.
Jenna rolled her eyes, not answering. Turning on her heel, she walked swiftly to the garage. You never admitted it out loud but she could see how tense you are around her Dad. It amused her more than anything.
Upon opening the door, she’s expecting to be met with silence as you worked on the car. Instead, her Dad’s laughter filled the room.
“That’ll teach you to make a bet with her…” Her dad continued to joke.
Stepping closer, she can make out your muffled chuckles from under the car. “Yeah… that one was on me, honestly. Robbed me clean of a thousand dollars.”
“Oh hey, honey. What are you doing here?” Her dad asked, noticing her standing by the door with a dumbfounded look on her face.
“Is that Jenna?” You asked.
“Yeah…” He responded.
Jenna blinked out of her stupor, walking to the hood of the car where her Dad waited patiently as you lay underneath the vehicle. “What’s going on here?”
You slid out from under the engine, using an old skateboard as a mechanic creeper; some oil splotched on your cheek. “Your Dad said the car wasn’t starting, so I offered to have a look at it.”
Jenna watches on as her Dad extended a hand out to haul you up. Exchanging the wrench in your hand for a wet rag to wipe the dirt off. She flicked a brow up in surprise. “I didn’t know you knew cars like that…”
You match her raised brow, “what, you think my cars are just for show?”
She rolled her eyes, not answering while you grinned, taking it as a win. She allowed her gaze to drop, noting your engine oil-stained white shirt hugging your arms tight and dark washed-out denim jeans. Looking like a real mechanic.
“I think it was the transmission, try turning it on.” You said to her Dad.
He follows your instructions, pushing the key into the ignition and turning it. Sputtered sounds of the engine roughly kicked back until eventually, it settled into a low, even rumble. You send her Dad a gratified smile. “What’d I say?”
“Impressive…” He scratched his chin, “I went to three different mechanics and none of them could tell me what was wrong.”
“Those guys are useless. You call me anytime there’s something wrong with her.” You popped off the hood struts, putting it back in its place before dropping the car hood closed with a loud slam, tapping on the top contently.
“You actually fixed that old junk?” Jenna crossed her arms, a little impressed but she’d never say it out loud.
You spin, flicking an unamused brow. “You doubting my skills, Ortega?”
Jenna tried shrugging impassively, walking closer to observe the running car. “Every single one of my siblings learned how to drive in this car, including me. Dad refuses to get rid of it.”
You run a hand over the hood again. What the younger actress said must’ve added to your satisfaction. “Just makes it more special then…”
“See, she gets it.” Her Dad peeks his head out from the driver's seat.
“We’re not starting this…” Jenna spun in her heels, walking back into the house. She ignored her thudding chest.

Thursday:
“Hey, how was Soundcheck?” Jenna looked up from her book, watching as you trudge into her childhood bedroom in slow steps.
“S’okay…” You mumbled, lazily dropping your shoulder bag on the foot of the bed. With a heavy sigh, you sat down and let gravity do all the work as you fell onto your back. Sighing in relief when it connects with the soft mattress.
“What’s wrong?” Jenna crawled to the foot of the bed, rubbing your shoulder. She watched as your eyes fluttered closed in fatigue.
“Long day… too hot.” You muttered causing Jenna to chuckle.
“Well, we are in the desert.”
“Should have thought about that when I agreed to perform…” By now, Jenna’s fingers worked their way through your hair. Softly scratching your scalp.
“Speaking of performing…” Jenna tried not to pay attention to the way you practically purred under her touch. “Who are you going on with?”
You grinned adorably, like when a baby smiled in their sleep. “Nice try…”
She tugged on your roots a bit, “Tease…”
“You’re the one tugging on my hair…” You cracked an eye open, staring up at her. Jenna flushed, choosing to ignore your words.
“Why don’t you take a shower and we can finish watching Breaking Bad? Relax before your performance tomorrow?”
“That sounds perfect.” You scrambled up to grab some clothes from your suitcase before running to the adjoining bathroom.
Jenna shook her head in amusement, ignoring the butterflies thrashing in her stomach. She moved up the bed, getting your side ready, and propping up the pillows to your preferred angle. Then she grabbed the remote, exiting out of the trashy reality show that she wasn’t really paying attention to. Only choosing the program to pass the time as she waited for you to come… home. But only because she’s honourable and chooses to uphold her side of the agreement; not to watch Breaking Bad without the other.
20 minutes pass when the bathroom door creaked open and you stepped out, looking far more relaxed than when you first came in.
Sliding into your side, you wiggled around, trying to get comfortable. “You kept your promise and didn’t watch the next episode.”
“Surprised?” She raised a brow.
“Mmm… a little.” You shrug, shooting her a chaffing smile.
She elbowed your side, “idiot.”
“Okay, okay, just play the episode. I’ve been looking forward to watching it with you all day.” You covered a blanket over your lap, not realizing what you just said. Jenna stares at you, not speaking.
You turn, pulling a face before it contorts to an amused smile. You grab the remote out of her hands, not calling her out on her silence. “Come on, get down here.”
Still unspeaking, Jenna’s body moves automatically, sliding in close beside you; shoulders pressed together. The younger actress doesn’t have it in her to admit that she’s been waiting for you to come back because recently, she finds she can’t sleep without you.
Jenna chooses not to comment when she feels your head lean comfortably against hers.
