OK correct me if I'm wrong, but I feel like the main 'yin/yang' parallel with Atsushi and Akutagawa is not something like 'this one is bad but secretly has a good side and this one is good but secretly has a bad side'.
I feel like it's more about 'who they are at their core vs who they choose to be'.
At his core Akutagawa is kind and at his core Atsushi is not. But despite this Atsushi tries every day to make the kinder choices and I love him so much for it. He has to work so hard to be good.
He wants to be a bitch SO bad I know he does but he tries his best to help people and be nice (sometimes he fails but that's OK <3)
Atsushi doesn't always WANT to help people, a lot of the time he's selfish and scared, but he does help people anyway. He keeps helping people over and over again. There's still some selfish motivation to it, and his initial motivation for helping people was because the headmaster told him that's all he was worth, but overall he does care about the people he helps and it weighs on him if he fails to save them. And of course, as the series goes on he starts helping people more because he can rather than because he feels like he needs to.
In Akutagawa's case, he's still capable of being kind but his environment led him into being someone who chooses to hurt people. But he's always been a protector at heart. In the start he was bad compared to Atsushi because he was choosing to hurt people and keep the cycle of abuse going. Just like how Atsushi developed in why he saved people, Akutagawa starts to get redeemed when he chooses to not just act on his rage. Not only does he start to spare people, but he speaks more kindly to them (apologising to Higuchi and telling Kyouka he's proud of her). It all culminates into the moment he chooses to help Atsushi and sacrifice himself for him, going back to his core value of being a protector. Even when he's finally revived, he keeps this role in his new position as Aya's Knight.
I kind of see the streaks of white in Akutagawa and the streaks of black in Atsushi not as their 'hidden sides' but as their fundamental selfs. That's who they are at their core, and their main colours (black for Akutagawa and white for Atsushi) are how they're presented to everyone else and how they try to have people see them as.

Can I talk about the fact Akutagawa doesn’t understand why Atsushi saved him, even though he did the exact same thing for Atsushi. Him using the word 'protect' rather than save is also so powerful to me because that's inherently what Akutagawa always has been- a protector. He was born with his ability and he protected his sister, the other kids in the slums with it. He sacrificed himself so Atsushi could leave the ship. And now, we've yet to see how Bram's wish will play out, but he was asked to protect Aya. Rashomon is shaped like knight armour on him at this exact moment.
And yet he can't understand why someone would do the same for him???? Absolutely INSANE. He's spent so long protecting others and then trying to better himself for approval, to be able to survive on his own by sheer violence that he can't fathom anyone doing the same for him. It was probably the same when Higuchi and the black lizards saved him when he was comatose.
And likely, he knows Atsushi views him as immoral and his actions as abhorrent, and is stuck on the fact Atsushi has had a sudden switch (sudden to him) in such a huge way that he'd die for him, since Atsushi has never been shy about telling Akutagawa just what he thinks of him. He can’t fathom Atsushi seeing his violence and hatred toward him and knowing him so deeply without understanding him and also choosing to save him.
Asagiri you're insane for this truly.

for the character ask game: Akutagawa, since you already got an Atsushi ask~
*turns around, fluttering eyelashes*
Oh, me? Oh, no, I definitely wasn't just waiting for that name to appear in my inbox, why would you even think that, it's not like the character attached to it has already been running through my head all day every day every moment of my joyous life every fragment of my time on this earth it's not like I had this questionnaire already half prepar-
Favourite thing
Oh. This man. This man has THE MOST compelling character development in the whole series. Possibly even out of all media I've ever consumed. It is impossible to put this little fella in a box. He's Rashomoning his way out of the boundaries of any coming-from-a-13-year-old mentally deficient take on his character that tries to paint him in solid blocks of black and white. Nu-uh, my man here is a whole rainbow (also very gay but that's beside the point), he has so many nuances and flavors he might as well be a 10-course 5 Michelin star meal. He has single handedly broken EVERY SINGLE stereotype for an antagonist and even recently turned co-protagonist.
He is a marvel; he has the heart of an angel and the soul of a devil; he is flawed; he has so many damn issues; he is so fucking hot; also kinda funny ngl; he is a born protector, nourished as a murderer; he is the heartless cur with a heart on fire, burning with the the desire to live, to love, to feel, yet he CANNOT because this wretched world of pain and death and senseless duty is his damnation and you are damn right he is going to crawl his way out of this living hell, find his purpose and make this right.
Least favourite thing
Non-existent. Next question. :D

This is a turning point for his whole character arc and the new beginning he so desperately needed to go on living. It is the moment of revelation, of clarity, of finding his purpose, escaping the clutches of his false deity, of reaching the light - giving into it, surrendering all of himself, wholly and truly. It is a moment of transcendence, of gazing upon the soul of his rival and seeing nothing but his own fractured reflection, of embracing all of his vices and virtues and giving them a new meaning, a new life, purpose, reason. It is acceptance and understanding and it is everything it was meant to be from the very beginning. He was meant to grow, he was meant to find love, he was meant to not only survive but to thrive, flourish.
He was born with the most kind and gentle and caring heart, only for it to be ripped from his clutches, shattered across the corpses of his family and buried into the ground where he too belonged. But he never gave into his wretched fate, never listened to the voices, never stopped trying and trying over and over. No. He hung onto the thinnest sliver of hope for existence, seeking something that truly matters. And look just where he found it…

Oh, I have so many here, I don’t even know where to start. So many possibilities for wholesome platonic dynamics.
Aku & Gin - they sooooo need to interact more in canon, I love love love tragic siblings to my bones.
Beast!Aku & Kenji - I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Farmer Aku = Best Aku. Their unlikely friendship is my favourite part of Beast and you know that monologue about the world in halves, yea, that always makes me cry.
Aku & Tachihara - I got this idea from a fanfic (waiting room btw, i can never recommend this one enough) and I’m still not over it. I believe they would make for a fun duo in canon too, given the right opportunity. I sense a lot of fun brotherly protective shenanigans if Tachigin comes into the picture too tehee.
Aku & Chuuya - Chuuya is the best thing to happen to Aku in the Mafia, so that one’s pretty self explanatory. I imagine Chuuya as being very supportive and understanding, which would soothe the wound left by Dazai - for both of them, actually.
OTP
MMMMmmmmmm yea I can’t really make the same joke twice, gets old, gotta think of a new one, ahem…
A boy with righteous soul,
with the most heroic goal -
to bring the world to light,
meets the deadliest of plight.
A soul with no compassion,
in a savage, brutal fashion.
With destiny of bone and blood,
to wither, crawl into the mud.
Until he found a strength reborn,
in this world dark, forlorn.
In the eyes of fated partner
who turned to fallen martyr.
He cried out, born of fire,
with a need so raw and dire,
to reverse the flow of time,
and return that which was mine.
He swore to take him back,
for the boy became his heart,
his hope and reason, fate,
to survive another day.
Until their destined meeting,
in a world lone and fleeting.
Where he needn’t fight alone,
as he found his mirrored soul.
…ye, it’s sskk, big surprise here <3 (yes i wrote that in an hour literally only for the sole purpose of not repeating the jest from the Atsushi one yes)
nOTP
Okay after spilling my heart out in every possible shape and form of poetic ramblings about what I love, it’s a bit hard for me to discuss that which I do not. But it’s Akuhigu, of course, simple as that. It’s not even because “oh it gets into the way of sskk bla bla bla,” no - it’s just genuinely plainly unhealthy as it is even on its own. I feel bad for Higuchi (even tho I accept her role as a character as a reference to irl!Akutagawa’s work) and I’m always going to pray that someday she gets the spotlight she deserves, preferably aside from being a manifestation of Akutagawa’s shadow.
Random headcanon
He has the biggest collection of expensive tea and is soooo judging Atsushi for drinking the cheap supermarket stuff and daring to call that muddied water tea. He also has regular ‘tea dates’ with Gin where they chill with a book and a cup in hand and argue on their favourite flavors.
Unpopular opinion
*cough* bottom aku *cough cough cough* if u know me, u know *faints dramatically to reinforce my statement*
Song I associate with them
Ye, you can blame @gothicmatter again for this one - absolutely and definitely and certainly “Sacrifice” by London After Midnight. I have this shit ingrained in my brain and it is not etching itself out anytime soon. I still listen to it at least once every few days.
Especially the verse…
Darkness is all I want to see
I could never put in to words
What it is you mean to me
is spinning in my head like the Cosmo Clock at all times.

In BEAST even Tanizaki thought Akutagawas ability could be used for a protection job, much like he used it to protect his now deceased friends in the slums. There is a lot that can be said about Akutagawa and his ability with the metaphorical sense and analogy of a blade, a shield, having a wielder or a sheath - but whichever tool or weapon it may be or he has become... not a tool or a beast, but a human.
Even a human, just like either tool, could become a weapon of destruction or one that fights for the good of others/those you care about.
But like a bomb for his goal in the mainline manga he goes on a self destructive path - almost like when he was that child who lost all hope and wanted to take all those he swore revenge to with him to hell, as he said.
But in BEAST and the Mainline Manga, he always ended up killing a lot, finding a purpose or needing to find a better way to handle it, to open his eyes to more than what is in front of him or what he has learned.
Tumblr media
But at his core? In BSD we don't always get good or evil... But Akutagawa has always been a protector, lead onto a self destructive path and ending up causing damage to much around him before he can realize that the way he does things or thinks can be changed for the better of himself. In both BEAST and the mainline one, this is a part of what he gets to learn and develop as a character...
And it will always be one of the most beautiful parts.
At the end of it all, maybe he'll learn that even if what he has been doing whether the reason is truly selfish or not throughout it all... That he has lived to save himself.

Bsd except Akutugawa doesn't look up to Dazai.
Dazai enters a room and Akutugawa has to remind himself not to stab him.
"He'll nullify your ability"
"I'll find a way. I'm sure dying to my worthless ability would be the worst way for him to die."
Dazai turned Akutugawa into someone he himself dispises. He has tried so hard to undo the damage Dazai has done to him.
In the 4 years since he left, Akutagawa has fallen back into the role of protector, and has swore to serve the Port Mafia to protect Yokohama.
Akutagawa mentors Kyouka, but nothing like how Dazai mentored him. He's forever thankful to Atsushi for showing her the light because Kyouka could not thrive in the dark.
"Kyouka, I'm happy for you."
Akutagawa is growing to become fond of and protective over Atsushi. He doesn't quite trust that Dazai won't hurt him, but he's relieved he won't.
He knows deep down why Dazai treated him the way he did. That he was only 2 years older than him. But that doesn't make it right and Akutugawa still can't stand him.
Akutagawa: Fine, I'll go help the Jinko but this isn't for you.
Dazai: I know.
Akutagawa: Good, I'll be off than.
Dazai:.. Akutugawa, I am truly proud of who you've become.
Akutagawa: Tch... I have always been this way. You were just to blind to see it.
Dazai: That I was.
Akutagawa: I've used those painful lessons to improve myself. But even so, I will never forgive you for what you've done.
Dazai: nods I know.
Akutagawa: The light looks good in you, don't... Don't lose it.
Dazai: suprised, smiles I won't.

HIIII D, K , V PLEASE !!! (ace attorney if you can cuz i don’t know anything abt bsd x3)
D!!!! -> A pairing you wish you liked but just can’t.
In all honesty, I have none. If I don’t like a pairing I usually just don’t like it. Either that or I’m neutral.
K!!!! -> What character has your favorite development arc/the best development arc
Ik you said only ace attorney, but I have to mention BSD just a bit too for this one :3
So for Ace Attorney I wanna say Godot. I can’t articulate it but just. Ough. Bridge to the turnabout holds a very special place in my heart. ALSO SIMEON SAINT. Ghghgggg. I know I know, that game takes place within a week but the whole of aai2….. waaahh..
For Bungo Stray Dogs, I may be biased but Akutagawa!!!! Ough. His whole character wrecks me. I’m in the process of rereading bsd rn and the first thing he’s introduced as is a thing of terror, a dog of the port mafia. He’s his actions before his person. We know what he’s done to earn his title before we even know his name. And then we’re given the panels to prove these descriptors, and then you go to chapter 88 and!!!!! He’s a protector!!!! I can’t even articulate how much I love this man and his development. Like he’s always been a protector, he was a protector in the slums, he was a protector of his sister always, he may have had the protection beaten out of him in the port mafia, but in the end!!!! He’s always been a protector!!!!!! I need to analyze him one of these days, I’m actually in the process of that rn. My notes doc takes up two pages thus far and I’ve only begun it today and gotten through his debut chapter.
V!!! -> Which character do you relate to the most?
For Ace Attorney, Franziska Von karma for sursies. I won’t explain why but she is very close to my heart for her personal relatability <3

Omg finally a bsd fans with some sense- actually no most if not all bsd fans on Tumblr have common sense
But the TikTok ones? They literally baby dazai so much but hate akutagawa for abusing kyouka. As if dazai wasn't an abuser too and actually has more criminal record than akutagawa.
Wanna know what they justify their hypocrisy with? They say dazai was a "minor" when he abused akutagawa, which is false because he was 18 at dark era, and since aku was an "adult" while abusing kyouka he should be blamed more 💀 one of them literally compared akutagawa to Mori because both of them were adults.
That just proved most bsd fans in TikTok are early teens or straight up children. Because an adult or elder teenager would know a professional doctor, who was given charge of a military squad at the middle of a war, is more mature than a young adult, whose childhood was spent in the slums and teenage years in the mafia
First of all there's no denying that dazai was a child, being used in the Mafia. Nothing can justify that. Nor that we can blame kid dazai choosing to be in the Mafia. Children don't have the sense to save themselves. An adult in Dazai's life, who just happens to be Mori, should've prevented him. Let's make that clear first.
But here's the thing, yes dazai was a kid when he was in the Mafia, but he was over 16 ( considering we have no mention of akutagawa at the beginning of storm bringer, it was later at the story when he and higuchi were seen) when he took in Akutagawa. And Dazai has always been smart. Smarter than his own good. He knew what he was doing when he physically abused an already sickly teen akutagawa. Don't even deny it, dazai fans. Akutagawa coughed blood in front of dazai . Dazai knew that Akutagawa was sick. Not to mention he literally TAUNTS Akutagawa in the dark era saying Odasaku would've trained him more patiently, taunting him of a present he would never have.
Also Dazai's training did more harm than good. In present dazai agrees aku's more powerful when he's in the defense, but at the start of the manga when we see dazai training aku, he was training aku to be more of an "offense". Even though Akutagawa is protector from his core aka great at defense.
To quote Danny Motta, "that offensive problem would've been easily solved with a gun." (Love Danny)
Oh remember Dazai hitting and shooting aku because he killed the mimic member, accusing him of killing people mindlessly?
He was wrong! It wasn't a mindless kill! Aku attacked that mimic member because he attacked the Mafia members around there first! Aku was in a protective defense position! He was literally explaining that to Dazai!
Aku literally listens to those thugs who stole from the Mafia before killing them in 55 minutes. Is he violent? Yes. But him only being seen as a no sense mafia killing machine is wrong and mischaracterization. He's capable of calculated decisions. In dead apple we see him singlehandedly beating rashomon with his own strategy.
I have a theory that since most of the manga is from atsushi's pov, we mostly see aku with atsu's pov. That's why we tend to think of him just how Atsushi does.
Not to mention aku is an unreliable narrator when it comes to defining himself. He calls himself heartless, someone who doesn't feel anything, but he protects orphans who are weaker than him, he mourns them, believes hell would've been better than living after his friends are killed and he was unable to save them. He kills all the dogs in the slum when one of his friends was torn apart by one. He remembers that friend of his who died because of the cold in the slums. (These are from beast manga and novel)
And Dazai to this day, emotionally manipulates Akutagawa. But I guess that doesn't count because he's in the Ada now.
Lol I know I'm coming out as such a dazai hater right now. Jokes on you I indeed am. I won't deny him losing his childhood to the Mafia. It's literally mentioned in the stormbinger that with each mafia mission, Dazai's eyes got more and more darker. Clearly stating that the Mafia environment made him more depressed.
Being a dazai hater is exhausting. You sympathize with him, understand him, but can't stop hating him.
And no, no redemption of him would lighten the grudge I feel against him .
Lol sorry for the rant.
it irritates me so bad whenever i see “blame mori” comments on content about dazai abusing akutagawa like holy shit ! people ! are ! responsible ! for ! their ! actions !! dazai was the one who abused akutagawa not mori so it is dazais fault. mori didnt even instruct him to treat akutagawa that way. sure you could place some of the blame on mori just as you could place some of the blame of aku abusing kyouka on dazai but at the end of the day aku and dazai are responsible for their actions.
yes trauma totally went into why they did what they did (hell i dont even think aku comprehends it as abuse “it didnt hurt. dazai gave my life meaning”) but when someone continues the cycle, the whole point of that concept is that they are now becoming an abuser as well and in the eyes of their victims they are just as guilty as their own abuser. we can understand why they did what they did and what went into it but that doesnt change the fact that they are at fault and responsible for their actions.
every defense i see goes like this: “heres why their actions are understandable” like ok great we sympathize with them and stuff but where does that connect to them being blameless??

r u familiar with the enneagram system? if so, i'd be curious to know what u think dazai, akutagawa, yosano, or anyone else's type is. of course, that's just a suggestion. i really like ur blog and hope life's going well for u.
I am familiar with it!
I'm not a huge fan of it for several reasons that I won't get into here, and as a psychology student I do feel compelled to alert people that tests like the Enneagram and MBTI, while fun, are not statistically valid or empirically grounded, and that I absolutely hate how these kinds of pseudo-psychological tests are still sometimes used by companies in the hiring process. They have no place there.
But, like I said, they are fun to do and I think my young teenage self, who spent literal years trying to rework some of these tests to yield more consistent results when analyzing fictional characters, would like it if I gave it a shot!
I'll do Dazai, Akutagawa and Yosano, and I'll add in Atsushi, Kyouka and Tachihara because of the recent episodes. :)
Dazai: I think he kind of has to be a 5w4. (I hate it I hate it that's my type arghhhh) 5s tend to withdraw and become detached observers - their ideal is to become as knowledgeable, intelligent and competent in their area as possible. The 4 as a wing meanwhile gives this type an emotional underpinning it wouldn't normally have. The 4 wing makes the 5 desire more in the way of self-expression and makes them tend to turn their knowledge and information gathering about people over hard facts. While the 4 might be considered an alternative, as 4s tend to be melancholic and feel separate from the rest of the crowd, it's also too focused on self-expression to be right for Dazai's character. 5s may have similar feelings but they deal with it more by rationalizing these feelings or withdrawing from people. 5s also tend to move towards 7s when under stress or in a bad place, which typically involves frantic attempts at spontaneity or excitement in an attempt to not feel so drained, trapped or incompetent. When in a healthier mindset, they tend to move towards 8, which enables more assertive, leader-like, and protective behaviours.
Akutagawa: I'd say a true 3. 3s are all about achievement, objectives and competency - and about gaining recognition for it. While they are normally characterized as extraverted, I think the core is there in Akutagawa - the need to win above all else, the idea that love and recognition are based on accomplishment, the projecting of their own insecurities onto others. These are traits that are present even in Beast, and likely rooted in his survivalist mindset. Akutagawa will go about whatever means are required to succeed, and he is objective-driven and direct in his ambitions to an almost extreme degree. Under stress, they go to 9, which leads them to stubbornly continue on the path they have set and put themselves under immense pressure without questioning why or branching off to something different, likely out of familiarity with the struggle and a fear of revision. This is quite clear in the main universe, with Dazai's approval being one of the only things that matters to him and making him largely unable to see alternate paths and driving him to reckless action. In a healthier mindset, they move towards 6, which makes them more committed team players. This seems to be where Beast was going, and hopefully we see that with shin soukoku as well.
Yosano: I'd say type 8w9 for sure. 8s are protectors, powerful and assertive to avoid showing weakness or vulnerability. Nothing else really makes sense for Yosano; she's always been an assertive person, and she doesn't mince her words - she likes to get to the point quickly and get things done. She also projects an image of intimidation and doesn't reveal much about herself to her coworkers. The 9 wing brings a more mellow side to the type 8 and focuses their protectiveness more on places of safety - like the Agency for Yosano and how protective she is of it and the people in it! Under stress, 8s move to 5, which causes them to withdraw into themselves as they try to detach from what's going on and question themselves and their usual confidence... yeah... In a healthier setting, they move towards the 2, which enables them to put their confidence and control towards helping those who need it, instead of focusing only on minimizing their own vulnerability.
Atsushi: I waffled between 2 and 6 for him before deciding on 2w1. 2 makes sense with its emphasis on helping others to be needed and building an image of being someone who helps others so they don't have to bother/deal with their own issues. 6s are too suspicious and focused primarily on security to be a good match for Atsushi, who, while he doesn't want to be hurt anymore and loves having a supportive group of people to come back to, is uh. Often very reckless. The 1 wing is that undercurrent of not just doing helpful things for others, but of doing helpful things that are also morally right and just. Underdeveloped 1 can result in some black and white thinking, which Atsushi can be a bit prone to, especially early in the series. 2s can be prone to becoming strongly prideful via their good deeds, but they can crash hard if they neglect their own needs for too long or somehow "fail" another. They are not supposed to be "selfish", and I think we see Atsushi struggle to fit his own needs into his image of the "one who saves others" he thinks he needs to be to be worthy. When under stress, they tap into the sudden aggression of 8, which may cause them to try to exert power to stop feeling vulnerable, but the growth towards 4 lets them explore their own feelings and perceptions to figure out what they actually want.
Kyouka: Probably a 9w8. Kyouka has very simple, straightforward wants and needs - part of the beauty of her character is that while everyone is angsting over big picture things (and she does too, continuously questioning her own goodness and worthiness), she also pretty quickly gets to the heart of it - "the crepe was delicious" "i like bunnies and tofu" - her desires are all simple little things that bring her happiness and give her a reason to fight back. Seeing Kyouka come to life over the course of the series is genuinely one of BSD's biggest joys. 9s are all about comfort, repression of anger, "going with the flow", etc. They tend not to be incredibly assertive, but are supportive and can quickly turn obstinate and quietly protective if their stability and home are threatened. Under stress, they detach, go numb and essentially keep their heads down and do what they're told, which is reminiscent of how Kyouka was so distant at the beginning of the story. In a growth mindset, they move towards the 3, which allows them to actively pursue their goals, not just for others but for themselves. The 8 wing was chosen due to Kyouka's sudden action and decisiveness when someone/something she cares about is threatened - she's less concerned with the morality of the 1 and more about protecting what matters to her by any means.
Tachihara: I'll be honest, I'm not entirely sold on this but I'm thinking a 6w7. 6s are all about the group, and are hardworking and committed types, but also known for being skeptical, uncertain, and questioning. The thing about Tachi is that he's actually a pretty loyal dude, he's just unfortunately attached to two different groups... what's interesting is that the resolution to this conflict is related to his earlier proclamation that "orders make him who he is", and that loyalty to the boss' (Mori's) wishes is a crucial factor in his choice to stay with the Mafia. 6s tend to feel insecure without some stable structure around them and tend to like having some direction from others. At the same time, some of the indecisiveness and uncertainty is alleviated by the 7 wing, which brings a little more impulsiveness and energy to the usually muted 6. Under stress, 6s move towards 3s, which makes them feel the need to accomplish and succeed to "measure up" - I think about Tachihara always being compared to his brother until one day he just gave up. 6s move towards 9s when in growth, and this is at the core of what a 6 wants: they really crave security and belonging, and the 9 alleviates some of the suspicion the 6 carries and makes them feel more relaxed.

Hello! Could I request some before and after dating headcanons of Akutagawa, Oda, Mori, Chuuya, and Poe with an S/O who has Asperger's Autism (it's a high functioning variation)? (Social anxiety, brutally honest, socially awkward, tends to get obsessive over what interests them and can talk for hours about it, tends to hide away a lot, loud, certain sounds make them uncomfortable, certain touches or even being touched without permission being painful mentally unless they initiate it first, ect.)
A/N: Hellow, anon~ First of all, I'm sorry if this took too long! Please forgive me~ (・ัω・ั) Second, I hope you don't mind that I wrote this as before reader told the guys about their autism and after they've told the guys cos I wasn't really sure what you mean. I'm sorry ;-; Lastly, I'm also not very educated about this matter so please know that I based this hcs from the information you've given me and some research on the internet. If any part of this hc comes off as offensive, insensitive or just wrong, please let me know and I'll gladly change them. So with that being said, here's your request and I hope I did alright hehe
Tumblr media
Akutagawa Ryuunosuke
Before:
• Akutagawa wouldn't even really notice it. Not that he doesn't care enough to notice but it's just that, for him, everybody's different.
• He wouldn't be surprised or will find your behaviors as off-putting but he will surely be curious. He might not ask you directly though and would just continue to observe you until you finally bring it up.
After:
• Although he truly is still a bit confused about it, he understands you more now. He'll try his best to not push you into situations that'll make you uneasy and he'll be more outspoken so the both of you can have a clear understanding.
• He won't treat you any different (except being a little bit more gentle) and lets you be just the way that you are. Expect him to be a little bit more protective of you, too.
Oda Sakunosuke
Before:
• Admittedly, it's something new for Oda and he's not really sure how to deal with it.
• He would notice the way you flinch on a loud sudden noise or the way that you seem to freeze under his touch and it really wouldn't take long for Oda to ask you about it.
After:
• Oda is one of the most understanding man you'll ever meet in your life so it's given that he took all the information well. With a reassuring smile, he'll tell you that he still wants to date you and he doesn't think that it'll be any difficult than dating any other person without autism.
• He approached it in a very calm manner but he values it with great importance, of course. He will love you for the person you are nevertheless and will always be accommodating to your needs.
Ougai Mori
Before:
• Being a doctor, it's given that Mori already knows about autism before you can even explain it to him.
• He understands what it fully means and how he should go about this, approaching the matter as both a doctor and a suitor.
After:
• Mori handles it like the professional that he is. He's always there to make communication a little bit easier for the both of you, being as open and honest as possible to avoid any misunderstandings.
• He will also not ask you to come with him to any social gatherings if you don't feel like it. If ever you would be in a crowd though, he will always stay close to you and lets you hold his hand if you want to, to give you that assurance that he's right there if you need him and there's nothing to be worried about.
Chuuya Nakahara
Before:
• Let's be real here. He doesn't know a single thing about it so he might say or do a thing or two that could come off as a little bit insensitive or just straight up triggering for you.
• Although he has heard about it, his knowledge about it is limited and Chuuya might jump into conclusions or stereotypes when you told him about the disability.
After:
• He is a changed man. He has researched about it day and night to fully understand you. He feels so proud of himself for being so educated about it and will absolutely see himself as your protector from other people that doesn't understand or discriminates.
• Will legit pick a fight with anybody that will judge you. When people looks at you funny for being loud, especially when he knows you're just excited or talking about something that makes you happy, he will glare back at them, calling them uneducated swines above other names, before turning back to you and just encouraging you to keep doing your own thing. "Ignore the haters," he'll say.
Edgar Allan Poe
Before:
• He's quite informed about it albeit not as much as Mori and wasn't really able to know it from the get go.
• He's timid about the whole thing and even though he noticed your tendency to hide away a lot and your brutal honesty in times where other people would've been quiet, he is unsure on how to approach you about it but he figured out the only way to go about it is to be honest and just ask you.
After:
• Poe is a very gentle person in general so that helped your relationship to sail smoothly.
• Whenever he'll ask for your permission to touch you or if he's explaining something that went over your head, his words are always comforting and caring. Even if he's being more straightforward than his usual self, he still makes the effort to speak kindly and treat you with respect without making you feel like he's only doing it because of your disability.

Your blog is great :D anyway, may I have hcs for Dazai, Chuuya, Akutagawa, Atsushi, and Ranpo with their s/o that use wheelchair because of their disability? Thanks :D
Why thank you, I’m glad that you like my blog! (And thank you for taking the time to clarify what kind of wheelchair when I asked, I appreciate it!)
Dazai Osamu
Dazai probably enjoys the fact that you’re on wheels a little too much. As long as you’re not endangered by his doing so, he often gets a bit… acrobatic while he’s pushing you around. It’s not uncommon to catch Dazai sprinting through the ADA’s hallways, the back grips of your wheelchair grasped tight in his fists, squealing around corners as he has you time how fast the two of you can circle the building. He’s also been known to tip you back, testing how long he can make a wheelie last.
You have no idea where he got the thing, and you probably don’t want to know, but soon Dazai has a wheelchair of his own, polished and ready for tomfoolery. Despite the fact that you’ve been in a wheelchair for a long time before your boyfriend broke this one out, Dazai is convinced that he can maneuver one better than you. At every opportunity, Dazai pulls out the thing and challenges you to a wheelchair race. No hill is too steep, no back alley is too complicated, and no street is too crowded to be the site of an impromptu relay. No matter whether he wins or loses, there’s always a twinkle in Dazai’s eyes as you reach the finish line, and you swear you’ve never heard him laugh quite so hard as when you blaze past bewildered pedestrians.
Although he’s often chided for his childish antics by those who think he should take your situation more seriously, Dazai wouldn’t dream of stepping down from anything that brings a smile to your face. He can’t imagine what it’s like to be bound to a chair for so many hours a day, and he only wants to ensure that you’re enjoying yourself as much as possible even though you’re limited in what you can do.
Even though Dazai may act like it’s all fun and games, he’s got a keen eye on you at all times. He wouldn’t dream of doing anything that would place you in harm’s way, and while he doesn’t treat you like glass because he knows that’s not how he would want to be treated, he’s always especially careful around you.
Nakahara Chuuya
Ever the romantic, Chuuya takes every opportunity to show you he cares through your wheelchair. Often, when you wake up, there’s a fresh bouquet of deep red roses resting on the seat of your wheelchair, paired with an encouraging note scrawled in his messy cursive. He knows that you must feel a bit trapped when confined to your wheelchair, and wants to make sure there’s sweet, positive memories tied to the device, too.
Sometimes, Chuuya sweeps you right out of the wheelchair, moving your arms to latch around his neck as he carries you, bridal-style. “You must get sick of sitting all the time,” he explains, when you ask. Whenever you’re tired of the wheelchair, all you need to is beckon to your boyfriend, and he’ll whisk you out of the device, holding you for as long as you want.
Your comfort is Chuuya’s number-one priority. Whenever you’re sore from being stuck in the same position, he’ll rub and massage anywhere that aches until you feel better. He makes sure that you have a soft cushion in your wheelchair if you want one, and if there’s a loose screw or squeaky wheel, Chuuya either puzzles through how to fix it or just purchases a completely new wheelchair for you, custom-made to perfectly fit your body.
If you share an apartment, there’s no high shelves in the entire house. He pretends this is so that he doesn’t accidentally store something above your reach, but the no-upper-shelves policy is as much for him as it is for you. He would never admit this fact; it makes him feel better if he can fool himself into thinking he’s not that short.
Knowing that it must be discouraging to be bound to a wheelchair, Chuuya encourages you at every opportunity. If you even drop a hint of feeling defective, or not good enough because you need the help of wheels, he does his best to chase these thoughts away. For every flaw you can list, Chuuya will wax poetic about a hundred of your qualities, complimenting you ceaselessly until you have no choice but to feel confident.
Akutagawa Ryuunosuke
Nobody is going to even lay a finger on you without Akutagawa’s permission. Although he realizes that you’re not some delicate flower just because you’re seated in a wheelchair most of the time, he can’t help watching over you with an especially close eye. Akutagawa is your fiercest protector, and if someone so much as glares in your direction, Rashomon’s snapping at their heels before they even realize what they did wrong.
The only one Akutagawa trusts with your care is himself, and he hates being gone from your side for even a second. Whenever Port Mafia business calls him away from you for awhile, he assigns one of the more trusty Mafia members to look after you (usually Gin, or Higuchi, if she’ll come unglued from his side long enough to be of service). Even if he knows you’re in good hands, worries still flood Akutagawa’s mind when he’s gone. Not until he comes back home and witnesses for himself that you’re still alright can he rest easy.
Akutagawa would never admit it, but he would bend over backwards to keep you comfortable. If you ask for anything at all, you’ll have it within seconds. Often, if you have more than one request, Akutagawa assigns Higuchi to take care of one while he sees to the other; he simply doesn’t want you to be without what you need for a moment longer than necessary. (Poor Higuchi doesn’t exactly understand why she’s being sent out on shopping trips for seemingly random items; she didn’t sign up for the Port Mafia to check off Akutagawa’s to-do list, but apparently that’s her fate.)
If there’s any daily exercises you’re supposed to do to strengthen your legs, Akutagawa hounds you until they’re done. He would never admit as much, but he’s incredibly concerned with your health. If there’s ever any orders from your doctor, Akutagawa will be their strictest enforcer.
Akutagawa will rip limb-from-limb anyone moronic enough to mock you. He doesn’t really know how to encourage you when you’re downcast about needing a wheelchair, but he sure as hell won’t hesitate to break out what he does know; punishment. If he’s not so good at soothing the wounds that words leave, well, he’s damn good at destroying the knives that made those wounds.
Nakajima Atsushi
There is no one more caring or attentive than Atsushi, and if you even think about needing something he’s by your side, begging you to let him help out. From vacuuming your carpets and taking out your trash to going on emergency toilet paper runs, no chore is too big or too small for Atsushi to handle. Anything that he can do for you makes his heart sing; he knows it must be difficult for you, and if he can do anything to help, he’s glad to take care of it.
Before bringing you anywhere, Atsushi scouts the place out, ensuring there’s wheelchair ramps and that it’s all easily accessible. He does this for anywhere ranging from grocery shops to potential date sites; he would feel absolutely awful if he tried to take you on a date somewhere and you didn’t enjoy it because it was too difficult to get around. To ensure this never happens, he double checks in advance.
Atsushi spends all of his free time and days off from the ADA behind your wheelchair. Pushing you everywhere, he brings you to all of his most beloved places across the city, describing what he loves about the scenery as you two criss-cross the map of Yokohama. Often, he’ll bring you to the spot of his latest adventure with the ADA (is it’s safe to venture back, that is), regaling you with tales of his work and all the strangeness it entails. If he doesn’t have a specific journey in mind, he lets you direct him, wheeling you down streets you’ve only looked down before and getting hopelessly lost in Yokohama’s back alleys, laughing as you try to sniff out the trail home. Atsushi hopes that by traveling through the city with you, bringing you everywhere you want to go, you won’t feel trapped, locked in place by your wheelchair.
Atsushi is your number one cheerleader, and whenever you’re feeling depressed about the wheelchair that’s constantly with you, he’s immediately by your side, snuggling your worries away. He showers you with affection when your mood falls, letting you know that you’re in no way lesser for needing a wheelchair. He assures you that no matter what, he’ll always stick to your side, and points out that everybody needs help sometimes; you’re not any different just because that help turned out to be physical.
Edogawa Ranpo
Whenever he notices someone offering to help you out, Ranpo feels a bit jealous. He’s been known to bemoan the fact that he doesn’t have a wheelchair of his own; to him, it sounds like a pretty nice setup, sitting all the time and being wheeled from place to place, with no need to walk. If these comments make you uncomfortable, he’ll knock it off, but every once in a while you’ll catch him eyeing your wheelchair with a pout.
Although Ranpo will push you anywhere you want if you break out your best puppy eyes and say please, he’d much rather spend your time together more lazily. He finds all kind of indoor hobbies for the two of you to do together; if you’re inside, he figures, you won’t have any problems getting around and he won’t have to wheel you. Ranpo’s open to most of your suggestions, but some of his favorite ways to pass the time with you include adult coloring books, baking (with you doing all the legwork and him doing all the sampling, of course) and snuggling while you two watch detective shows (although the experience is a bit ruined when he pulls out the glasses and spoils the entire episode).
Ranpo’s confused when you’re discouraged about the things you can’t do because of you’re wheelchair. He points out that there’s many things he can’t do, either, but he’s still the greatest detective alive; none of your inabilities subtract from who you are, and he reminds you of this often.
All in all, Ranpo doesn’t see you as any different just because you’re on wheels. He’s more careful not to hurt you, granted, but otherwise Ranpo treats you exactly the same as everyone else. (Well, not exactly the same; thankfully, he’s considerably kinder to you than most. You’d have a long list of relationship issues if he wasn’t.)
On the rare occasions that the mood strikes him to go out and about, Ranpo brings you on dates where you can both sit. He doesn’t want a potential idea to be cancelled out because it’s all but inaccessible, so he figures if it’s a place the both of you can lounge around, that won’t be a problem. Often, he sets up a comfortable little spot along one of Yokohama’s beaches, or a picnic in a field somewhere that you can watch the stars once the sun goes down.

Tumblr media
I'll probably add more onto this when I can write more. For now I'll dump these maybe along with some basic thoughts before I write a long analysis a few hours from now.
Tumblr media
To sum up a thought instead of my upcoming dump-analysis and random theorizing. This reason could be Akutagawa seeing a value in a life which isn't his own. In beast we see him trying to teach those who killed his friends the value of a life through killing them, and eventually even lost his own way and hadn't noticed how he basically didn't show how to value his sisters life or his own with his recklessness until it was too late. And here we may get the answer would be throughout everything he may of seen a value in Atsushi's life, a life other than his own. Someone similar to him but so different, the other side of the coin. I can't describe properly right now but I had a random thought before on how this shows Akutagawa kind of saving himself or past self in a way but differently from when he said he was glad for Kyouka but thats for next time where I write more.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Earlier than this we see Dazai saying he knows why.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Throughout this series its obvious how much they both grew from each other and how their bonds shifted, beast gave me even more insight into how they would be as friends even (atsushi and akutagawa that is.) And them being the successful soukoku is something I enjoy a lot, from Mori and Fukuzawa which are black and white and completely don't see eye to eye or can be a working team, to Dazai and Chuuya who were forced to work together for their capabilities despite not getting along but they are there for eachother when things depend on it as comrades, then theres Akutagawa and Atsushi Yin and Yang - even their designs are showing how they all are so different and how they would work together or not. SSKK balances each other out, (I still don't think SSKK is a good name for their Yin and Yang relation.) But anyways, these two have so much development its amazing.
Tumblr media
I know there are many theories surrounding Akutagawa currently with his memory loss etc. But over here he technically is saving/protecting a "commoner" or the "innocent" just as Knight Akutagawa says. And he as a character if you look back has always been a bit of a protector, as we know with his now deceased friends in the slums. Not to mention Rashomon is not just offensive but defensive, which can kind of show how it protects himself and could protect others - just another thought.
Tumblr media
Akutagawa's death definitely influenced/impacted/affected Atsushi alot, not even in a shipping POV but as a canon appreciator and theorist/overanalyst I have to say this scene is one of my favourites. And Akutagawa gaining some (or all I am not sure as of now) of his memories after this MAKES SENSE! Because Akutagawa literally has been trying to kill atsushi for so long, their promise was even for him not to kill anyone for 6 months before the death battle with Atsushi (which I kinda hope still happens and ends like how beast's battle between them ended kind of.) And it is a big impactful thing to Akutagawa because this was a moment where he sacrificed himself, for someone who had most of his things being wants and obtaining that wanted goal which stems from selfishness (which atsushi similarily has) this was a selfless act for protecting someone, someone who has become worthy of being saved? Someone who just deserves to live because he now fully understands the value of others' lives? Of course Akutagawa would "wake up" after Atsushi sacrificed himself and said the same words he did since its quite a big deal to his whole character. Also an honerable mention to 55 minutes?! I will make a separate thing on random thoughts of Akutagawa and Rashomon at some point about the cutting through space - or rather how he manages to retain consciousness or memories despite certain things or losing them. Maybe the things that impact him impact him that much that it sticks no matter what. In 55 minutes when he was dying in flames after searching for Higuchi and having his moment of last words - when the time is reversed we see he still remembered the exact time of the disaster, and himself burning he remembers, he also made sure to check up on Higuchi near around that time too so he remembered quite a lot for someone who died and wasn't supposed to have ANY memory of something that never HAPPENED YET. Yet he retained some of it, and VAMPIRE Aku also had some of his consciousness as Atsushi spoke or when he SAVED/SPARED Aya. (Also random noting that the vapirism had no affect on Atsushi.) Aku still kept his promise like the man of honor he is, and this even shows how he'd still protect a child and have moments of memory despite being a vampire who is supposed to only take orders and be mindless like a DOG which Aku HAS been to the mafia but an uncontrollable one too. So what I see is that he really does have something going on with memories and how things personally impacting him plays a huge role in his character and character development which is obvious because Dazai...
