Translation: "Hello guys. how are you? Today we are at Gaza's largest refugee camp located in Rafah, south of the strip. A huge number of refugees fleeing death, fear and destruction. They took refuge here, they were told it is safe to be here, although it's a fact, there is NOWHERE SAFE in Gaza.. We hope war ends soon"

Who is left out when we narrate the story of Palestine? - Zena Agha, Skin Deep Magazine, 8/8/22
The pieces in [PALESTINE: WAYS OF BEING] are efforts to shape our future. They shed light on three un- and under-explored areas of Palestinian life: queerness, incarceration and Blackness. Looking at where we came from and where we’re going, they expand on some of the ways of being Palestinian today.
Tareq Baconi: Dreams of a Palestine where I can hold myself whole
Living in a time not mine: An anonymous letter from inside an Israeli prison
Mousa Qous: In the heart of the Old City, generations of Afro-Palestinians persevere in the face of occupation
Samah Fadil: Putting the pieces together: Fragments of oral history in exile

Note
btw Ovid does say that andromeda was a dark skinned women
Yeah, while her ethnicity and nationality is all over the place in ancient sources she’s very much not a white woman. Last time I drew her her design was based on ancient Egyptian clothing and modern-ish Ethiopian jewelry. Tho now I wanna redesign her a little and make her Afro-Palestinian since the one real location that was specified in her story if Jaffa, Palestine.

Please support the Al-Tarabin family!
Tumblr media
I'd like to take this time to spotlight an Afro-Palestinian family from Gaza as they fundraise to take care of basic living expenses. Mr. Mohammed- @tarbeen-family-2 -also suffers from kidney failure on TOP of displacement and the suffering that comes along with. Please do not allow them to go uncared for or unheard. This family deserves better. If you cannot donate, share! But everyone can do something during this time of need!
As of 9/4/24: €573 raised of €10,000 ‼️‼️‼️

Al-Ajaweed Band is a group made up of Black/Afro-Palestinians from the Baq'a Refugee Camp in Jordan. They’re known for being some of the best at dabka!
(linked because the tunnel of quote tweets has more dance videos)
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Please give their page the views they deserve.

Palestinian identity is not defined by DNA can you guys please stop using DNA as some kind of argument because DNA doesn’t make you indigenous. Indigeniety is defined by the relationship to the land and settler colonialism. Palestinians aren’t indigenous because some of us have genetic ties to Canaanites but because we’re literally being colonized. Please stop using the DNA angle it is only going to hurt people like Armenian Palestinians, Afro-Palestinians, mixed Palestinians, so on and so forth.
