People watching Fourever You, did you know the YouTube channel has additional scenes that aren't shown in the four parts of the episodes? Like this week had three of them.

The first showed Hill and Ter talking outside the restaurant because Hill is upset that Ter got a late-night job, so Hill stated he will now be taking Ter to his job and picking him up to make sure he is safe.

And Johan changed out of his clothes, so we could see he has a tattoo on his hip.

Each week has one to three additional scenes, but I don't think people realize because the views on them are low compared to the views for the actual episodes.

They aren't subbed, so you have to select for AI auto subs, but the gist is clear. Go to the Studio Wabi Sabi's YouTube and watch the additional scenes if you want. You don't lose much without them, but they do give a bit more context to what's happening.

becoming someone else

Telling the story of someone unlike yourself.

Why is it that some stories are hard to tell? By stories, I mean chapters—sets of scenes that make up smaller arcs within the larger context of the novel.

Why is it so hard to get into the head of some characters? It’s not as though the author must understand every fold of the character’s psyche in order to represent them faithfully on the page. And yet, sometimes it is.

I have been slowly working away at a single chapter exploring the origin of the relationship between two central characters—already established when the story commences—over the course of a month without making much ground. Both points of view are presented, so in theory this should be an interesting exercise. But I am truly struggling with it.

One of the characters, despite being close to my heart as one of the original main cast is incredibly unlikable—at least at this point in the timeline—and also so unlike myself. It can be understood, therefore, that this is the point of difficulty in moving forward with the scene. Yet this is core to his personality and core to his role in the story.

As a break from this chapter, I tried a free-writing prompt from the podcast Writing Excuses where the protagonist of your story applies for that position.

Of course, this was an easy flow for me to settle into since I had written ninety-percent of page of swords in the perspective of this character. However, I quickly realised how shallow she was when interposed into the mundane setting of a coffee shop.

Because it had never come up before—given the story’s context and settings—she lacked a basic set of likes and dislikes that would dictate what beverage she would choose when given the option. Worse still, this was something all my characters lacked for a range of subjects. Suddenly, I realised the value of filling out one of the many character questionnaire templates floating around the internet.

When I finally decided that her favourite hot drink would be peppermint tea, and gave her a quiet moment to enjoy it, she became infinitely more concrete. Not just because I could relate to her—“Hey, I like peppermint tea too!”—but because her liking one thing suggested her liking (and disliking) a dozen more.

In moving away from the chapter I was trudging through, I organically discovered the secret to fixing what wasn’t working within it.

So there was my answer: In what ways might I make this character human? What quirks and preferences can provide texture and humanity? And how can I set up the scene to enable the reveal of these?

If a character is unrelatable, give them something that makes them so. You should have no trouble, from then, in telling their story. After all, they are not so different from you or I if you dig a little deeper.

Whilst overall I prefer the manga to the anime, there's one aspect that I think the anime does better - the very ending.

Compared to the manga's very compactly shown thoughts of the cast, the anime gives each of them a short scene.

But although that change already is great, what matters to me the most, is this added scene of Saiko.

Despite it being so short, it feels so fitting and important to Saiko's character, making its absence in the original seem wrong. (They also added Rifuta, though comparatively, her scene isn't so significant.)

As you can see, the update is finally here! I'm sorry it took me so long, I really wasn't expecting it to. Alas, writing and coding are rather time consuming. And 100k words is basically a novel's worth.

Despite the word count, if you're only playing one route, it may not take you that long to read. Unfortunately, that is a problem with writing IFs, it feels like a lot when you're writing it but then when you go to play it...

On the plus side, there's many different routes you can try! I'd highly recommend using multiple saves to check out other options.

This headcanon was born out of Kaito's official art with a tobacco pipe, and how irritable and aggressive Kaito is sometimes portrayed

I think he started smoking with the handouts of his older comrades at his astronomical internship. Maybe he thought it was cool, or maybe he just didn't want to be perceived as a child :D
