Reading is my life line, it’s how I keep myself motivated, it distracts me from my chronic illnesses and chronic pain, I can honestly say I wouldn’t be here if it was for reading!!! Thank you to all of the authors and fanfic writers for all of the hard work they put into their stories! I appreciate you!!!!!
If anyone would like to add to my collection and bring a smile to my face please feel free to check out my wishlist! Much love!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

spirk fics i've read recently(ish) and loved
My Heart to Your Heart by greenforsnow @m-b-w - TOS - need a gentle fic? this is it. softness pervades every syllable of this fic!
Through the Wall by Sexy_Lil_Emo - AOS - a fic inspired by nsfw fanart. who needs plot with that?
Malfunction by Maeko - AOS - a nice, short nightcap when you need something sweet to read before bed
Impulse (or, Three Kisses) by decidedlynotheterosexual @decidedly-not-heterosexual - TOS - spock loses control but in the *sweetest* way and they talk about it like adults and this is just soothing and nice
The Proposal by TheKittyCorps @contrascene - AOS - spirk version of "the proposal." laugh out loud funny in parts (yes, hijinks included)
Heirs to the Glimmering World by gunstreet @gunstreet - SNW/TOS - sybok, michael, and sam conspire to get their brothers together!! siblings! tentative first meetings! sex!
De Profundis by Rhaegal (RhaegalKS) - TOS - tmp-era spirk. spock knows he fucked up so he's gonna woo jim
The Kiss by awarrington - TOS - there are some super dated things in this fic (it was originally written in 1994) but this is one of the best i've read dealing with jim coming to terms with his bisexuality and attraction to spock. def don't read if you can't or don't want to take it in context of its time. if you can/have the emotional bandwidth to, then it's well worth it
On the Arrow by Fic_me_senseless - AOS - post-into darkness, heavy read, so much longing, and pain, and it makes you ache in the best way
i'm also in a "watch beyond on repeat phase" so here are my favorite post-beyond fics:
The Steadfastness of Stars by itsnatalie - AOS - this fic. THIS FIC. i was only going to read one paragraph, really. i skipped work, read the whole thing, and now this is in my top five spirk fics
in my life, i love you more by spaceisgay (ChancellorGriffin) - AOS - idek how many times i've read this now. i watch beyond, i read this fic. if they never make a fourth movie, this will be my canon
And Then I Let It Go by kianspo - AOS - yorktown happens, spock goes missing, jim goes after him. this could so be canon too
on the complete opposite side of post-beyond angst is two (YES TWO, we are so blessed!) "spock makes jim coffee" fics that will both make you smile and feel warm all over:
Home in a Mug by Lizzy0305
certainty relief by itsamew @enterprise-me-capn
and (because i can never quite seem to keep these lists solely focused on spirk) one AOS mckirk fic:
retro/spect by slightlycrunchy @slightlycrunchy - best friends to lovers anyone? this is just so so so lovely!

Up next! This came highly recommended by many friends (and also the internet at large when I asked for SFF revenge recs, so thanks!), and I have Tracked Down The Original Covers, so I'm ready to go.

Posting about my currently reading/tbr to get ahold of it because I am scrambled rn
Books I am currently reading:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Blue Hunger by Viola Di Grado and A Visit from the Goon Squad by Jennifer Egan! I’m liking both so far and excited to finish them soon!
Books I’m “technically” currently reading:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez and Anthology of Armenian Poetry! I’m enjoying both of these so far, but they’ve taken the back burner since they’re longer works and I’ve been gifted new books!
More books I’m “technically” reading:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Perfume by Patrick Süskind and Nausea by Jean-Paul Sarte! I started both of these last year and only got a few pages in before prioritizing other books (either for class or to meet my reading goal). Hoping to finish them soon this year!
Finally, books high on my tbr:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Our Wives Under the Sea by Julia Armfield and Three Apples Fell from the Sky by Narine Abgaryan! These will probably cut in front of some of my currently readings because I’m so excited for them lmao.

Deadgirl picking a lucky dip book at the bookstore and the only clues she gets is ‘grumpy workplace romance’?
Groundbreaking.
Also the sales assistant winked at me and said, “this one has a lot of spice, too”. Not sure if I gave off smutty reader vibes, but thanks anyway lady because I’m excited.

Due respect, but in my opinion, immortal characters who are “bored with immortality” are severely lacking in imagination.
You know what would happen to me if I got immortality? Reading. In fact, immortality might be the only way to make a dent in my TBR.
Know who got it right? I can think of 3:
1. Mathew Clairmont (Couldn’t be sure that continuing to go to school wouldn’t bring him happiness, so decided to keep getting degrees just in case. Might unravel the secrets of the universe on the way, might not, he’s got the time to figure it out. Had to go back in time and be a spy instead for a while and was very upset about it).
2. The Doctor (IYKYK).
3. Tessa Grey (I grant you it’s early, but if anyone thinks this girl isn’t going to read her way into eternity I’m sorry, but you’re just wrong).

9 books I plan to read in 2025!
I was tagged by @leofrith <3
Omeros by Derek Walcott
I technically started this in the last week of December '24 but I'm putting it here because I'm less than 20% through it =] so far I think I might be too unfamiliar with the Greek tragedies to "get it" but I'm pushing through nonetheless.
A poem in five books, of circular narrative design, titled with the Greek name for Homer, which simultaneously charts two currents of history: the visible history charted in events -- the tribal losses of the American Indian, the tragedy of African enslavement -- and the interior, unwritten epic fashioned from the suffering of the individual in exile
Chernobyl: History of a Tragedy by Serhii Plokhy
In Chernobyl, award-winning historian Serhii Plokhy draws on recently opened archives to recreate these events in all their drama. A moment by moment account of the heroes, perpetrators and victims of a tragedy, Chernobyl is the first full account of a gripping, unforgettable Cold War story.
Operation Columba: The Secret Pigeon Service by Gordon Corera
The fascinating, untold story of how British intelligence secretly used homing pigeons as part of a clandestine espionage operation to gather information, communicate, and coordinate with members of the Resistance to defeat the Nazis in occupied Europe during World War II.
Chain-Gang All-Stars by Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah
The explosive, hotly-anticipated debut novel from the New York Times-bestselling author of Friday Black, about two top women gladiators fighting for their freedom within a depraved private prison system not so far-removed from America’s own.
Babel-17 by Samuel R. Delaney
Sabotage threatens to undermine the war effort, and the military calls in Rydra. Random attacks lay waste to warships, weapons factories, and munitions dumps, and all are tied together by strings of sound, broadcast over the radio before and after each accident. In that gibberish Rydra recognizes a coherent message, with all of the beauty, persuasive power, and order that only language possesses. To save humanity, she will master this strange tongue. But the more she learns, the more she is tempted to join the other side . . .
The Cartographers by Peng Shepherd
From the critically acclaimed author of The Book of M, a highly imaginative thriller about a young woman who discovers that a strange map in her deceased father’s belongings holds an incredible, deadly secret—one that will lead her on an extraordinary adventure and to the truth about her family’s dark history. What is the purpose of a map?
The Rover by Mel Odom
Edgewick Lamplighter (Wick to his friends) is a humble librarian in the isolated halls of Greydawn Moors until dreams of wanderlust and a bit of dereliction in his duties result in his being shanghaied to a far-off land.
New and Selected Poems Vol II by Mary Oliver
This graceful volume, designed to be paired with New and Selected Poems, Volume One, includes new poems on birds, toads, flowers, insects, bodies of water, and the extraordinary experience of the everyday in our lives. In the words of Alicia Ostriker, 'Mary Oliver moves by instinct, faith, and determination. She is among our finest poets, and still growing.' In both the older and new poems, Mary Oliver is a poet at the height of her control of image and language.
Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir
Tamsyn Muir's Gideon the Ninth unveils a solar system of swordplay, cut-throat politics, and lesbian necromancers. Her characters leap off the page, as skillfully animated as arcane revenants. The result is a heart-pounding epic science fantasy.
I tag @sh5 @stormikins @aesnawan @woahpip @dykefagz and anybody else who wants to do it! Feel free to tag me!
