Welcome to Nars Hell. Long ass post about the BatDog

I'm taking this comic as her canonical origins completely.

Why do I say her? I think it's a typo, but they literally say "she" in the comic when Alfred takes her from the shelter. I'm a big personal fan of butch dogs so I'm sticking to it. Less perceptive batfam members still misgender her but it literally doesn't matter she's a dog

Ace is Alfred's little baby. His skrunkly. His best friend his good time boy.

Likewise, Alfred is the only person in the world Ace listens to. The only bitch in this house she respects.

She only responds to British accents. Yes this results in the family doing their best (worst) Alfred impressions on the regular to get her to do what they want.

She is a terrifying guard dog to almost everyone except Alfred. To Alfred she's a spoiled puppydog who wears sweaters and cries if she doesn't get a special dinner plate like everyone else

Alfred talks to her like a person. Like he holds conversations with her. The family insists it's adorable but he's just having a civil conversation with a colleague

Ace has preference for Damian, Cass, and Duke. She is their little sweetiepie as well.

She would protect Damian with her life and tries to do so often. Fuck that mailman's life forever he's coming for her baby

Damian is the only one other than Alfred she'll listen to, but only when she wants to. No she won't get off of you Damian baby needs to sleep.

Cass she can chill and hang with. Cass is the only one who lets her sleep in the people beds

Duke can play with her like a real dog. Like, with chew toys and stuff. It's weird to watch. He has a million nicknames for her too

She's doesn't necessarily like Bruce but she protects Bruce like it's her job. THAT'S her boy. Alfred hired (adopted) her to protect the emo man so that's what she'll do

She is trained in service dog stuff! She can open doors, alert to medical emergencies, and even bring pills.

Damien looked up from his book. He hadn't expected the man who had sat down next to him to say something. Most people were not that friendly in Gotham.

"Uh..."

He turned and noticed that Ace was playing with a big white dog.

"Yea, that's Ace."

Ace...his father's dog, really. Also known as 'Batdog' on occasion.

"Sort of. I mean, he's my dad's dog. I have a cow and cows are not allowed at the dog park."

He chuckled.

Why did he feel the need to say this?

"Sorry. People don't usually talk to strangers in Gotham. You new in town?"

It was sometimes difficult for Rogue, not to service dog. The pup loved his job. He loved helping both Matthew and Allen. That was why Allen and Matthew both liked getting him out to dog parks when they could. Since Mattie was at work, it was Allen who was puppy sitting and got to take him. He let Rogue off leash and took the vest off before allowing the fluffy white dog to explore on his own following along only because Rogue would stop and look at Allen whenever he was too far away.

Rogue started trying to play with another dog, and Allen took the opportunity to sit down on the bench and take a breather. "Hi, is that one yours?" The redhead asked the person he had just sat next to as he moved to bring his backpack to his lap.

Batfam Headcanons: Mornings

- Alfred is always up first

- It doesn’t matter how early anybody else wakes up, no matter what, Alfred is standing tall and awake cleaning around the house and getting breakfast ready

- Tim normally comes down next, sleep deprived as hell, either because he needs another reload of caffeine or because Alfred has dragged him down to eat something

- It always ends with him sitting at the counter drinking his coffee while working on his laptop

- Damian is awake next. He’s awake from 5, but stays in his room if he’s not in the Cave

- He normally comes in with music blasting in his earbuds, but doesn’t fail to make a snarky comment on how Tim resembles a zombie

- He will then try and convert everyone to Vegetarianism

- Duke wakes up next, normally at the same time as Cass

- Only difference is that Cass comes down fresh faced and ready for the day while Duke is half asleep and covered in Ace’s dog spit

- Sometimes Jason is passed on the couch or library drunk

- Dick comes in every few days to restock on cereal and catch up with everyone

- Damian tries to swap out Tim’s sugar with salt on most days

- Dick somehow manages to finish all the cereal in one sitting every time he’s there

- Jason used to sneak whiskey into his coffee while in the kitchen, but once, he accidentally put it in Cass’ cup and she hurled it at his head

- Duke kinda just passes out in his cereal

- Bruce never tries to join in on the commotion. He contently watches his family from a safe distant
