i’ve come to the conclusion after watching heartbreak high, that personally i will forgive and defend characters for being unhinged and insane (rowan) or even just cunts if they have redeemable qualities (probably most of the cast but particularly amerie and harper and yes spider too now) but i will NOT stand characters that are fucking annoying (sasha ,,, srsly my girl quinni did NOT deserve that!!!!)

Sam Sylvester’s not overly optimistic about their recent move to the small town of Astoria, Oregon after a traumatic experience in their last home in the rural Midwest.
Yet Sam’s life seems to be on the upswing after meeting several new friends and a potential love interest in Shep, the pretty neighbor. However, Sam can’t seem to let go of what might have been, and is drawn to investigate the death of a teenage boy in 1980s Astoria. Sam’s convinced he was murdered–especially since Sam’s investigation seems to resurrect some ghosts in the town.
Threatening notes and figures hidden in shadows begin to disrupt Sam’s life. Yet Sam continues to search for the truth. When Sam discovers that they may be closer to a killer than previously known, Sam has a difficult decision to make. Would they risk their new life for a half-lived one?

Hey! If ur looking for good ace rep in a tv show might I recommend heartbreak high? It’s an Aussie teen drama on Netflix and it’s my favourite show bc of the amazing autism representation (actress is actually autistic!!!) but a lot of fans are asexual and enjoy the show for its amazing asexual rep! The show has v nuanced and compassionate rep all around imo!
i’ve seen so many clips of this show that are so relatable, i’ve gotta watch! i’ll start it soon

Hot take but I LOVE when non-human fantasy and scifi creatures are aspec coded! I LOVE these creatures when they're autistic coded too!! I love having and examining a species where these things are the default, where this is their norm and other experiences are the odd ones out. I love their funky designs, I hate the human body and my mortality anyways. I get that it is Unfortunate if it's the only representation, but that shouldn't mean throwing the whole concept away and dunking on it as bad when it shows up. Throw a human ace in there too instead. Actually, honestly, I don't care, the human characters are the characters I care least about when there's cool fantasy beings around with a culture and biology humans can't have. I love the little aroace alien that gets to treat the main couple I really wish weren't a couple as the weird ones and force both the characters and readers to question what they think makes us human. It's not the 1800s, people understand the concept of monsters and aliens as being human, and if being cool and having a different default is dehumanizing then what do I care for being human.
I'm not a monsterfucker or anything I'm just so sick of every time there's a piece of media with an ancient fae who doesn't understand the concept of love it's dismissed as "bad rep", what's so bad about having an entire species of beings that have that experience as the norm and get to interact with the world not as the odd one out? And they've always been better at making people understand my experiences better than any one off special lesson of the day human character ever could. I get the problems with it but frankly I either don't care or I think they're based on the most ignorant outdated type of person that could be consuming the media, and when it comes to rep you should always add, not replace, or worse, subtract!
REAL AS FUCK!!! no disrespect to the aspecs who feel uncomfortable with nonhuman rep (especially when it's the only aspec rep in that series ofc) but i personally LOVE alien/celestial/monstrous characters who are unabashedly aspec.. and honestly it's WEIRDER to have nonhuman characters whose concepts of sex and romance line up 100% with human standards, lmao ¯_(ツ)_/¯
that's why i love the voidpunk label too. to exist as autistic aroace trans etc is to exist in a world that barely considers you human... but what's so great about humanity, anyway? embracing your lack of “humanity” is liberating. go ahead, call me a heartless inhuman alien freak - i’ll take it as a compliment <2

okok i saw someone talk about how they dont like zolu (which if u dont idc) but it came down to a mass mischaracterization of zoro, luffy, and sanji so i wanted to talk about it
note that the person i saw was a zosan shipper but im not at all saying zolu is better than zosan or that zosan sucks (also sorry if this comes off rude im autistic LOL)
"zolu doesnt work because luffy is aro ace!"
im aspec, but you guys need to realize asexuality and aromanticism is a spectrum. for example: someone whos demisexual would only have romantic/sexual feelings if they already have a close bond with that person. using luffys aromanticism as an excuse to why zolu doesnt work is. weird. aspec people already dont get a lot of rep, but boiling it down to one definition isnt what we are
"if you ship zolu its because of the one piece live action! they straight washed sanji!"
ok this one kind of pissed me off bc😭..... none of the strawhats are canonically queer. you can def hc someone as gay, bi, lesbian, etc. but until oda says something is canon it isnt. for example, i hc zoro as gay and sanji as bi! but neither of these are canon. sanji wasnt straight washed, his characterization is very similar to the animanga, same as the other characters. the only real difference is they toned down a lot of things they werent able to do bc its not animation
"it feels cishet female gaze-y!"
zolu, arguably, has one of the most complex dynamics in the show. zoro has completely dedicated himself to luffy and luffy has pushed him to accomplish his dream. zoro sacrificed himself in thriller bark, giving up his dream, and promise to kuina, and nearly died in the process. zoros unwavering loyalty in luffy and luffys unwavering trust in zoro is part of the main appeal. im not a cishet female, so its probably why most of this got me upset, but i myself hc them both as aspec, and that they arent very sexual people. i wouldnt necessarily call either "female gaze-y" since the male gaze is a product of the patriarchy and the female gaze is more in a "how does this man treat a woman" way but yeah.
if u disagree w me thats ok! u can block me or send me an ask explaining why u prefer zoro and sanjis dynamic! its just not for me! i just think throwing around baseless accusations like straight washing or fetishization is weird
ok bye sorry

AUTISMING OVER THE SUIT!!! /pos

Quin/"Gold Spider"
A relatively inexperienced Spider-Person for his age, gaining his powers during his college years. Goes by Spider-Man but I call him Gold Spider for convenience. He's very mistrusting and hard to connect with, which isn't helped by a few anomalous properties.

I feel like I never actually realized how much I needed actually good autistic rep made by autistic people until now
I mean I saw these autistic characters made by neurotypical people and played by neurotypical actors (when actors are needed). And I was like "sure, these are mediocre reps and I despise them, and I wish there was actual good rep out there, but whatever, not gonna happen ig so this is all I got". Then I saw some shows by autistic people and with autistic actors coming out and I thought "oh, cool, I'm gonna watch them when I get the motivation" but then never actually watched them, you know ? I knew I wanted that, but it wasn't like... a priority.
But then I got some free time, "hey, what was the name of this show again ?" and. I ended up watching "A Kind Of Spark" and "Everything's Gonna Be Okay" in like two days. And the whole time I was on the verge of tears. When I tell you I even literally cried at some point in the second season of Everything's Gonna Be Okay.
Because I suddendly realized HOW MUCH I NEEDED these kinds of shows, and how STRAIGHT UP OFFENSIVE all – ALL – of the reps made by neurotypicals are. I never understood how important this was. Representation that is just SO REAL. That isn't the neurotypical interpretation of autism, but really what autism actually is. The difference is just SO MUCH MORE obvious now. All these details overlooked by neurotypicals, all their fantasies about autism. Now I'll never be able to even glance at their shows about autism. I already hated them but now I just think they shouldn't even be allowed to make them
I knew this was bad rep. But I never truly understood HOW BADLY it affected me to see these terrible reps everywhere, and HOW MUCH I craved for actual good rep, until I started crying like a baby the second I saw what good rep actually looked like and felt like to me.
It's so weird because I remember I felt the exact same way when I saw an actually good ace rep for the first time, but idk, I just didn't think I would feel the same with autistic rep for some reason ? Because we have autistic rep way more than ace rep... But it's bad rep so at the end of the day it just feels the same as no rep at all, or maybe it's even worse. The realization hit me like a truck and I am in tears lol

Okay, nvm the other suggestions, what I really want to know about is Everett's fuckboy era. Please tell us about that.
Everett has a fuckboy era as soon as he starts playing for the Phillies. He's an ace pitcher, and he's young and attractive, and that really goes to his head for a bit. But let's start at the beginning...
All of this is actually fueled by the fact that he and the love of his life grew up together and went to Vanderbilt together and tried to date during college. We know Piper is autistic, and she struggled a bit with the level of popularity that Ev had at Vanderbilt. While she felt comfortable with him, the constant attention and everything else surrounding him were not the vibe she was looking for. They tried to date and then they were FWB, but she ultimately dumped him and they stayed just friends. She is referenced in Draft Day when Coach and Kitten say Piper is his girlfriend, but he says she's not.
So Ev moves to Philly and starts playing pro ball. He and Piper are still close (she's back in San Diego using her degree from Vanderbilt). They spend a lot of time on the phone. She always makes him laugh. But while he's still massively into her, she mentions she's dating someone else. Next thing you know, Everett starts taking girls home left and right. His agent and PR reps have to get involved, and many NDAs are signed. It gets to be so much that Bradley makes a special trip out to see his son to have a conversation about how he and Kitten are afraid Everett is going to regret some of the decisions he's making.
Bradley is also the one who gets to the bottom of things. Everett loves his friend Piper in every way that you can love someone. It's pure and perfect, and he still craves the physical connection they had. But he knows Piper won't thrive in a relationship with him as an MLB pitcher. It's tragic. It's beautiful. It's friends to lovers to friends to something, maybe, perhaps.

Gurdeep is an engineer and a soldier. Georgie’s a food scientist. One is pragmatic with a tough outer shell; the other’s an optimist, a person of ideas and compassion. In the span of a single afternoon, the couple find themselves in charge of planning a self-sustaining colony on Mars. Together, they’re humanity’s last hope for survival.
They have 160 slots to fill with experts from all over the world as they set about designing an all-new society with its own government, economy, and culture – and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
Among those chosen for the mission is Devon, an autistic scientist with a unique skill set who finds life on Earth strange and alienating. Maybe a whole new planet is exactly what’s needed.
With 1,114 days until the launch, excitement and tensions run high. Earth’s second chance hangs in the balance. Between strict genetic requirements and the dangers of the dystopian almost-present, will everyone make it to the final countdown?

very true but if ur talking abt the situation i’m talking abt it is kinda ableist/fatphobic how ppl r hcing the only physically disabled and idk hes not rlly plus-sized but hes bigger than the other characters whos also pretty heavily autistic coded as ace, esp when he’s canonically very not ace
like if ur a disabled/plus-sized/autistic ace person hcing him as ace then there isnt rlly a problem but denying that there’s ableism involved is just ignorant
(also yes this is abt the ace Will/Dustin discourse since i’m pretty sure thats what ur talking abt and this is entirely on the Dustin side of things since i have no opinion on the Will stuff except that i personally cant see him as ace)
making characters asexual doesn't infantilise them. autistic aces exist. gay aces exist. disabled aces exist. our asexuality doesn't discount us as queer or as people or as representation. it's ridiculous that i have to say this

Yo, I've seen your book rec posts on and off for a while, and I was wondering if you could (if you have time ^.^ if not, that's cool too) throw up a list of your favorite lgbt/neurodivergent/unique protagonist books? I don't think I've ever read a book outside of fanfiction where the lead/s weren't just some form of 'normal' or straight or whatever. Also, since you're one of my favorite authors I feel like I'd be more inclined to give one of them a go lol ^.^'
There are an increasing number of diverse books out there!
Here are some of my personal favourites in no particular order, by which I mean I have rated them 4 stars (I really liked it) or 5 stars (it was amazing) and then curated the list some more on top of that. E.g. I might have thought it was amazing at the time, but if I can't tell you anything that happened in the story years after reading it, it's not on the list. That doesn't mean it's not worth reading, just that I have a bad memory so if I remember it definitely did something right!)
You can find more books I've read on my Goodreads. There are books that fit what you've asked for on there, it just doesn't fit my personal curated favourites list!
LGBTQ books
The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller (m/m)
If We Were Villains by M.L Rio (m/m)
Girls Made of Snow and Glass and Girl, Serpent, Thorn by Melissa Bashardoust
Sawkill Girls by Claire Legrand (f/f + ace)
In the Dream House by Carmen Maria Machado (f/f - non fiction)
Salt Slow by Julia Armfield (f/f)
Giovanni's Room by James Baldwin (m/m)
Nightwood by Djuna Barnes (f/f - though be warned, this is a weird one! Rated highly more because I can't get it out of my head than that I liked it)
Tipping the Velvet and Fingersmith by Sarah Waters (f/f)
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid
Peter Darling by Austin Chant (m/m, trans)
The Binding by Bridget Collins (m/m)
The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J Klune (m/m)
Plain Bad Heroines by Emily M. Danforth (f/f)
The Greenhollow duology by Emily Tesh (m/m)
These Violent Delights by Micah Nemerever (m/m)
One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston (f/f)
(Obligatory read MY BOOK The God Key (m/m) here!) Obviously, this is my favourite ;)
Unique/Interesting protagonists:
Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman
Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn
The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay by Michael Chabon
I Am Not A Serial Killer by Dan Wells
Middlegame by Seanan McGuire (Her Wayward Children series is also great and has a lot of LGBTQ rep!)
The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang (MC has Asperger's)
A Spindle Splintered by Alix.E. Harrow (terminally ill MC, also f/f)
Fugitive Pieces by Anne Michaels
House of Leaves by Mark.Z. Danielewski
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time by Mark Haddon (Autistic MC)
Disfigured: On Fairytales, Disability and Making Space by Amanda Leduc (nonfiction)

I haven't seen anyone talking about tori spring possibly not being ace?
In the tv show, tori doesn't tell Charlie she's ace, as she does in the books.
I'm fucking pissed. Yes, it's great we have Isaac for aro ace rep, but we can't cut alloace rep out either.
also, michael is soooo autistic and I love him

i'm writing a book! and it's getting published!
if you just want the immediate details you can click the read and read a short FAQ! if you need more to get sold on it, stick around and check it out!
My YA SFF fantasy debut, ALVOSKIA: Call of the Infrans, follows an Unchosen one named Ally who is struggling to find where she belongs amidst her chosen one found family family when violence arrives at their doorstep, and they're forced to fulfil their duties earlier than expected. There's dragons and child soldiers and subverted fantasy tropes, some tone consistent werewolves, an almost entirely queer main cast with the majority also being characters of colour, and if you've been following my blog for any amount of time, it probably has something for you.
If you like ATLA: "what if there were multiple Avatars running around, and what if they weren't all automatically good people?" + past lives and reincarnation cycles
If you like Derry Girls: hot mess of teenagers getting in and out of trouble together while being ridiculous (and sometimes very sad)
If you like PJO: young teenagers with cool powers going on quests together and coming-of-age. And snark. Lots of snark
If you like Six of Crows: morally dubious collection of protagonists, some heisting may or may not happen, outsiders working together
If you like TDP: elves and dragons and long standing grudges and politics
If you like Star Wars: y'know how the Force like consumes you the farther you wander in? yeah that's the magic system here. + some shadow, death, and shapeshifter stuff
If you like HTTYD: you're here for the found family and fun fantasy aesthetic aren't you
Rep: queer (aro, ace, bi, pan, trans, lesbian, nonbinary, genderfluid, gay main characters, often times overlapping); Asian (Indonesian), Black, Sri Lankan and Pakistani (coded) rep; hijabi rep; one character is an amputee and one main character is Autistic.
The debut month is March 2026! Sometimes there is even very pretty (commissioned or friends) art for it:

If you want more info in the meantime you can shoot me an ask or you can follow this sideblog for it. If you want a taste of my fandom writing first you can check out my AO3 or writing snippets on said side blog, like this one:
