thinking to myself "hmm i have this idea for a plot beat in my fic, but it'll be a challenge to communicate this subtle emotional reality through character interactions and internal monologue" and then stopping and going "wait. im writing a kingdom hearts fic. i can just make it literal and turn it into a fight scene or Lore or something"

Sometimes I think about the rare times I would write OCs back in the 2001-2010 fandom days and the whole "Mary Sue callout" thing was so big so you had to make your OC just like... so boring and ordinary and the canon characters must find them unimportant and never ever let them be a love interest, and even then, people would probably still criticize you making an OC at all.

now I'm like YES my reader OC would catch the eye of this important character who would obsess over her and kill for her because he thinks she's the most sublime being in the world and he'll steal her away to keep her forever <3333

ok like i get riku’s hand is bent back a bit more than sora’s so the perspective makes his hand look smaller HOWEVER i still think sora’s hands are slightly bigger than riku’s and i love that so much

All of the students’ graves were covered from top-to-bottom; candles and flowers and little sentimental trinkets left by surviving friends and family decorating each stone like a personal altar. All, that is, except Baldr’s. (Xehanort visits Scala's graveyard and thinks about some things.)

The interesting experience of being pro Sasuke, anti konoha, pro tobirama, anti Naruto ending, pro Sasusaku, anti Itachi, pro Sakura, anti SasuNaru, pro Tobirama×Izuna, anti Madara, pro karin, anti Orochimaru, pro Uchiha and anti Hashirama. And also as much as I hate the guy danzo was kind of hot when he was younger...

I’m actually obsessed with the idea of Brain just ending up in Scala and having to learn about how to use the new tech (just like he had to figure out MoM’s computer), and I was bored so I wrote a little snippet of him sneaking into a kitchen (and away from Sigurd) and figuring out appliances lol

Brain entered what turned out to be the kitchen. It was cramped, at least compared to the one in the Clocktower. Hardly enough space for more than, maybe 4 people. It had a very distinct smell, not necessarily a bad one, but a strong one. This confused him considering it was alarmingly clean.

There was a counter running along the wall, strangely made of some sort of stone instead of the wood he’d expect. He couldn’t see a stove, which was strange, but even stranger was the contraption on the counter— four little metal prongs supposedly to hold something up and some knobs along the edge. At the end of the counters was an unusual cupboard also made out of metal for whatever reason. It was out of place even compared to the other cupboards in the room, which were made from a purple wood reminiscent of home.

Curiosity piqued, he walked over to investigate, the counter contraption first on his list.

He seemed to be right about the metal prongs being used to hold something. Each of them stuck out above a circular dip, which had a slightly raised cylinder in the middle, rife with tiny holes. That most likely had something to do with the knobs so he twisted one, as a test.

It took a moment but a familiar sharp smell brushed his nose. It was the same scent that came right before an explosive spell. Panic lighting up inside him, he twisted the knob back to its original position, using a swift aero spell to disperse the gas. Why would they even have that?!

Unless…

On a technical level, explosion spells were really just out of control fire spells, and it took a bit for there to be enough gas for him to smell it, so even if fire spells don’t have that smell, they must use that same gas, and if that’s the case then maybe…

He tried the knob again, only slightly twisting it this time, and shot a small fire spell at the dip underneath the prongs. The cylinder in the centre caught, controlled, consistent flames spitting out of each of the holes.

He was right, this was a stove then, just a very weird looking one.

With that mystery solved, he turned the stove off and moved on and over to the metal cupboard.

It was a similar purple to the wooden cupboards with a silver handle and as he got closer he noticed it was letting out a low hum. Interesting.

He opened the cupboard and was greeted by a variety of raw meat, some drinks, and a waft of cold air. This was a refrigerator then? He closed the door, stopping any more of the chill from escaping and gave the outside of the fridge a quick scan for the ice compartment. There wasn’t one.

Then where did the ice go in? Where did they cast blizzard?

Had they figured out a way to imbue the fridge with magic so they wouldn’t need to refill it? He couldn’t say he’d blame them if they had. It was a horrible feeling, losing all your food because it slipped your mind.

But if they had, how? He supposed he’d never really tried to imbue an object with elemental magic before. They were generally one off, quick firing spells. He just assumed it wouldn’t last long enough to work, not unless you changed the whole base of the spell. Which he thought might do it, if they could break down the magic enough to isolate the properties then combine-

“Oh, there you are,” an exasperated mutter came from the doorway, “Master Brain, you really should tell me if you’re ever going someplace”.

i love all of the story, but the way it ends is my favorite because it's such an emotional scene as well as a bit on the morbid side like "holy shit what did they do" especially because of the pov chosen

i realize making a meme about it doesn't really convey how much i love it, but yeah oh well

Watching Re: Chain of Memories Cutscenes again for fic purposes, and like

Putting aside how I forgot just how gay this game and some of the lines are (looking at you, Repliku)

In the scene where Repliku turns around to be all like "I thought I told you to go home!" to Sora, he starts out walking away. And after Sora starts running at him, there's like a full second where Repliku looks like this

HE CAN HEAR THE CLOP OF SORA'S SHOES ON THE FLOOR

HE STOPPED MOVING. HE KNOWS HE'S HERE

He just smiles before turning around all frustrated

also i always think about an AU where they bring Nanami back, but not Nanami from Hope's Peak, the Nanami from the NWP.

In Kingdom Hearts (BARE WITH ME), everything can have a heart (metaphorical/metaphysical. not the literal organ, but is vital for something to be fully alive). It's formed from your connections to others, and the experiences you have. Even digital beings grow hearts if they're put in the right conditions and form enough connections to others.

I think that right at the start, Nanami would have been a blank slate, simply a stand in for code, just a representation of the therapeutic software of the NWP (like how Miku is just a representation of her Vocaloid sound package) but designed to be someone so intergral and important to their lives, someone they all loved, possibly to boost the potential for success within the program. But I think that as their time within the program goes on, as her relationships with the others expand and deepen, she became more and more 'real'. I think she grew her own heart, one seperate, original, and her own. One unconnected to the girl she's supposed to be a copy of.

If this heart could have been saved from deletion, just like the rest of the Remnants were, and been brought back into the real world, made physical, put into a vessel, Nanami could have been resurrected.

But the implications of this.

Everyone has their memories back of this girl that she isn't, wasn't and never really could be. She's someone different now, forged by different experiences, colder, jankier. What would this mean for their grief? Kamukura grieved Nanami, even if he didn't know why. Hinata grieved Nanami, repressed as he was by the Project. The whole class turned to despair watching her die. Some watched her die two times over. Now Nanami is back, and she's everything they remember and she isnt. Nanami is back and she has to live up to these expectations of who everyone thinks she should be, and who she really is. Would the Remnants still greive? I think they would. I think she'd feel that. Where would the therapy tool she was built around end and a real girl, a newly real girl, who has never lived before start? She didn't even ask to be brought back. Would it be selfish to force such an existance upon her?

I think, as hopeful an ending as it would seem on the surface, Nanami coming back to life would be a whole new form of despair.

"How old are you, anyway?" Riku asks, and it's casual and matter-of-fact, but Ventus has to stop and think.

Fifteen, he could say, but that's not quite true, is it? I was fifteen when I fell asleep, maybe, and that's better, that's true, at least, but it still doesn't answer Riku's question. "Twenty-five, I guess," he says, after probably too much time has passed.

"Oh," Riku says, and he seems so taken aback that Ven almost feels bad for him. "You don't..."

He hesitates, and Ven snorts. "I know. I still look fifteen. Aqua and Terra are almost thirty, but neither of them looks a day over twenty."

Riku thinks for a moment, and then he shrugs. "Well. Xion and Roxas both look fifteen, and they're, what, two? None of us make much sense."

"I at least still feel fifteen," Ven admits. "Those ten years... I was hardly aware of anything. It's... worse, for Aqua."
