congrats on learning german. a sluggish pace seems pretty reasonable tbh we're pretty self aware about german being hard for outsiders. that being said i do love our language and think it's great when others willingly subject themselves to learning it (assuming you're doing this willingly)

Thank you so muchh! I started to learn German after moving to a German speaking country for Uni (in English), and eventhough I really didn’t need to learn the language, I decided to go all the way and learn it! I’ve been learning it (on and off) for about four years now, and even though I live in a place where its the main language, I still find it very hard to understand natives, and I while I now have a pretty good reading comprehension, I still find it difficult to form sentences in which I can express myself freely (and it also being grammatically correct), and it doesn’t help that I basically only speak English there. However even considering all that I find it a really charming language (when it’s not as stressful). I really like how classy and eloquent it is, it makes me feel like a philospher everytime I say something, even while ordering at McDonalds. And while I still a ways to go to be where I would feel “fluent”, after 4 years I can finally say I feel satisfied with where I am. Why LET ME TELL YOU WHY! I STARTED PLAYING ANIMAL CROSSING IN GERMAN!!! ITS THE BEST THING EVER! Of course I’ve tried watching TV shows in German but it’s always either: too boring (because sometimes i watch kids shows since theyre easy to understand), too easy (because sometimes i watch kids shows AND THEY’RE KIDS SHOWS), or way too hard (not because it’s too hard to understand just, that theres too many word I don’t know and then while I get the jist, I don’t get the complete meaning, plus then I have to pause a lot and that ruins the fun of whatever I’m watching). BUT NOW. NOW I HAVE CUTE LITTLE ANIMALS TELLING ME FUNNY GERMAN WORDS ABOUT THERE DAY.

THE PUNS! THE MOTHER FUCKING PUNS!

THEY MAKE MY DAY EVERYTIME I CATCH SOMETHING AND THEN I LEARN A WORD THAT RHYMES WITH BARSCH (abmarsch) or KLIESCHE (Klieschee). I LOVE IT! Honestly an easy going game like AC is the best thing, since no dialogue ever really matters, and theres nothing serious ever going on so if you want to skip some dialogue, it doesn’t matter, or if there ARE some dialogue you want to take your time to study, you can do that and not lose the weight of the dialogue. Why? BECAUSE THERE IS NO WEIGHT! THEY’RE TALKING ANIMALS TALKING ABOUT BUGS AND FISHES (and debts and art fraud but we can ignore that)

Plus now I found a good way to study those words that I translate, using Reverso and Quizlet. Honestly after many years of trial and error I finally found some way to make this satisfying and it feels amazing. Hopefully I can take some intensive course after I finish Uni. Unfortunately I wont be able to study German, since all my time is taken by more important uni stuff, but soon! Thanks for the congratulations, it’s been a slow and tough journey but i’m sure soon I’ll have a pretty good grasp on it!

If you don't know me well and you've heard my opinions abt people talking shit, I probably seem like the person that enjoys talking shit about others. To which the truth of the matter is that I don't. Tbh, I feel I do something worse. When I talk about a person to someone else, I break them down from the bottom up by analyzing what makes them so irritating, but also what makes them so great, and I share that analysis with the person I'm talking to. It quickly escalates to bringing up a person's personal issues, traumas, insecurities, etc, and analyzing them under a lens.

Pluto in the 1st house - Very strong auras. Could deliberately see through bs a mile away. Not gifted in being friendly, lol just kidding. Their not 'nice' though. And they don't have to be. Pluto in the 4th house - Could of had a transformative experience at home and I don't mean that nicely. There are somethings that should be left unsaid but sometimes things need a reawakening. They don't seem to let things go here.. but why would they? There past is like a haunting story awaiting to be unraveled just so you can piece together the puzzles that we're left unfinished. They are quiet when it comes to their personal life and hide themselves from the world so that you won't get an inkling of what truly is masked behind the bushes.

Pluto in the 5th house - Very deep bonds with their art work and can do a performance like no other. They will have you feeling every bit of emotion in their vibration just to help you feel what the character is feeling. I noticed there are a lot of good actors with this placement. The subconscious/dream world is the most important part of their day to day because it rules the present in a way that cant be controlled but must be felt. Tips on how to avoid being unintentionally ableist

1. When a disabled person says they cannot do something, and you wish to offer solutions, do not make a solution that involves them powering through pain, or something thats not accessible to the disabled.

Example:

Disabled person: "washing dishes hurts too much and i cannot do it."

Abled person: "what if you did one dish at a time throughout the day?"

This statement is not respecting that this disabled person just said they "can't". Always respect that. No matter how simple the task would be for you.

Disabled person:" i think ill use plastic silverware so i don't make dishes."

Abled person: "plastic is bad for the environment!"

This statement shuts down the most accessible and disabled friendly option that this disabled person can actually do because of the abled persons personal beliefs. This is not helpful, and ableist.

Better yet, instead of offering solutions, ask them directly "is there anything you need that you do not have that would help you do this?" This allows the disabled person to think about what would work, and they will always have a better idea of what would work than you do.

To add on to this, when we say we have no more energy to solve a problem or do a task, or change our lifestyle, we mean it.

2. If you feel discomfort when a disabled person is talking about their health, good and bad, that is ableist. Your discomfort is coming from a place that deams disabled peoples very existence as a bad thing and you need to fix that.

For example:

Disabled person:" this week has been rough pain wise, ive been through a lot, felt like my body was on fire. Lucky i got new meds though and i think they're helping!"

Abled person: "can we talk about something else, this is a bummer."

Disabled people should be able to exist freely without worrying about your personal comfort. Do you really think its appropriate to tell someone in constant pain that their life is making YOU uncomfortable?

3. Do not treat disabled people as tragedies, do not romanticize their old life or put their current one down.

For example:

Disabled person: "yeah my life is pretty difficult sometimes, ive lost a lot but i still have happy moments."

Abled person: "it makes me so sad to see what disabled people go through :(. You used to love rock climbing and running, i would love to see you move around more again."

This statement is putting more value on the disabled persons abled past, and ignoring their life as a whole.

4. Do not avoid speaking to disabled people because it hurts to see your loved one disabled.

For example: my grandmother avoids conversations with me because it hurts her to see me in pain. While she has good intentions it leaves me being unable to be close to her. This is very isolating to the disabled.

5. Do not stop inviting your disabled friend/loved one out even if they are never well enough to attend. Unless we specifically ask you to stop asking if we can go out, good chances are we want to know you still care because again, disability is very isolating.

6. When a disabled person says certain things in their health have gotten better or worse, do not challenge this because you don't see a difference.

For example:

Disabled person: "yeah things are getting a little better"

Abled person sees disabled person using their wheelchair like usual: "i thought you said you were getting better?"

Better and worse are usually small changes only the disabled experience, its not like abled people healing from a broken arm. Better to a disabled person could mean they can stand for 10 more minutes.

7. Do not expect disabled people to ever be abled again, and again, do not put more value on an abled life.

For example:

Disabled person:"I have been using a wheelchair for 2 years."

Abled person: "oh you're young, im sure you'll be walking around in no time!"

This statement invalidates and ignores the disabled persons current life by hoping they get a more abled bodied life. Its fine to hope disabled people get better, but you don't get to decide what better looks like.
