“Tamao. Can you talk for a minute?”

The long haired young man stood silently waiting for an answer outside the closed door. When there was no reply - he looked up at the ceiling and sighed deeply. He bounced up and down slightly on the spot, growing somewhat impaitent.

Yoh gently but vigorously knocked on the door again.

“Tamao?”

“Come in.” came a quiet shallow voice from the other side.

Yoh slowly slid open the door and stepped into the ambient lit darkened room. He left the door partially open to allow the light to flood in.

“Close the door. Please.” firmly but calmly said the shugenja master shaman.

Yoh obeyed Tamao’s strict instructions and quickly turned around and shut the door. He then took a few hesitant steps further into the room and sat himself down on the floor opposite Tamao. Yoh remained silent, realising that he had, once again, interrupted one of Tamao’s deep elongated trances.

“You’ve spoken to the King?” quietly asked Tamao, eventually. She did not open her eyes as she spoke and remained in her still and calm cross legged pose. Several pink wisps appeared in the air around the pair and danced playfully between them.

“Yes.” replied Yoh, clearing his throat. “He said that something’s wrong in another world. He said… Hana’s in trouble.”

“I see.” softly replied Tamao, opening her eyes and locking her magenta eyes on Yoh’s worried expression. “I wondered how long it would take before he told you.”

“You knew?” gasped Yoh, stunned.

“What else did he say?” calmly asked Tamao, she closed her eyes once more and took in a deep inhale.

“Not much, he… he didn’t exactly go into details, but - what ever it is, it sounded like a big deal. He seemed worried. Which is not like him.”

Tamao remained silent for a moment before she calmly waved her hand in front of her and summoned a larger violet coloured will-o’-the-wisp between them. An image of a fair haired teenager appeared within it - and when Yoh saw him, his eyes widened.

“Is that…?” began Yoh, alarmed.

“A variant of him. One that is on a much darker path than ours.” confirmed Tamao.

“Is he okay?!” desperately asked Yoh as he leaned in closer to the image of his own son that had appeared in front of his eyes.

“It seems he’s facing some enormous forces… and battling some demons of his own. The King has chosen a path for him. He must fight in the King’s name and succeed. The fate of his universe depends on it. And…” Tamao paused. “Hm.”

“And…?” pressed Yoh, desperate to hear more.

“I see. Your brother’s throne depends on it too.”

“Hao’s in trouble?!” shrieked Yoh, leaping to his feet, his eyes white.

“The brother you know makes up just one piece of this story,” went on Tamao, “He may be the King here, but in this alternate realm, he is not the one in control. Sadly, the fate of this outcome rests entirely on this Hana’s shoulders - and there is not much we can do to change that.”

“Please Tamao. There’s got to be something we can do. Hana and Hao need us! We are family! No matter what universe, world, timeline - what ever - it doesn’t matter! That doesn’t change!” loudly pleaded Yoh. He froze again and swallowed nervously. He knew Tamao did not appreciate raised voices when she was performing one of her complex divinations, but he was desperate.

“Please, I’ll do anything.” sadly whispered Yoh, hoping his softened voice would be enough of an unsaid apology for shouting in her presence.

Tamao kept her intense gaze on Yoh for a moment before she closed her eyes again and began to concentrate harder. She screwed her eyes tightly closed as she began a new divination - searching further into the infinite knowledge of the Great Spirits - further than she had ever searched before.

Another foreboding silence grew. Yoh felt the atmosphere in the room change. The spiritual flames all around them grew larger, and then - Tamao saw something interesting.

Very interesting.

A slight amused smile appeared on her face.

“Yoh. Can you sacrifice Harasume for the sake of another world?” asked Tamao, firmly.

Yoh inhaled sharply - stunned by the question. But after a moment, a fierce determined smile appeared on his face.

“Anything.”

What if Anna eloped with Kitaro and Yoh and Manta married Tamao together and these are their kids? XD

Mio is a shorty but still much taller than her dad lol. She's a clever girl and has more of her auntie's sassiness than her mother's shyness. Noa is laid back like his dad but also super playful when motivated. He tones down his big brother Hana's more aggressive side. Also he got one of the claws from dad's necklace, Hana got one too and Yoh kept the last. 

Lastly Anya looks mostly like mom but with a bit of dad's weird\creepy side. She's usually nice but don't make her mad... She's got a lot of work keeping all these future punk humans and PO'd spirits from wrecking the world so her patience only goes so far, lol... XP

Mini Episode - “A Real Family”

“You’re going back to Izumo? Wh - When?” quietly asked Tamao, her voice barely louder than a whisper.

“Tomorrow,” replied Hao, taking off his jacket and hanging it on the coat rack in the corner of the room. He then approached the kitchen counter and leaned against it, crossing his arms and locking his eyes on Tamao and smiling warmly at her.

“Oh.” muttered Tamao.

“It should only be for one, maybe two days.” gently went on Hao. “Opacho has just got settled here, and she really seems to like spending time with you. You are so good with her. Would it be okay if she stayed here, with you?”

Tamao froze for a moment, she could feel her face getting warmer as Hao complimented her.

“As… as long as she’s okay with it, then, of course. She’s no trouble at all!” hurriedly said Tamao, she looked away from Hao briefly as she spoke.

“Thank you.” sighed Hao, relieved. “That is extremely kind of you, Tamao.”

There was a pause as Tamao’s face turned a bright pink once again. She took in a deep breath as she tried to steady her nerves to ask the questions that were on her mind.

“Wh - why are you going back? Is Yoh going too?” she asked, hastily.

“Yes.” nodded Hao. “He should have come with me last time, it probably would have saved us a second journey.”

Tamao blinked at Hao’s words but remained silent. She decided not to point out the fact that Hao had not answered her first question.

There was another short pause before Hao stood up straight and sighed.

“It’s late, and, we’ll be heading out early so… I probably should … ” quietly said Hao before making his way to the doorway to head to his room. He then stopped for a moment, before turning back towards her.

“Maybe when I get back, we could do something fun together, take Opacho somewhere. It would be nice for her to experience some kind of normality. You know, the sort of thing a real family does.” Hao then closed his eyes and beamed a radiant kind smile at Tamao, before turning and walking calmly out of the room.

As Hao left, Tamao stepped backwards until she felt the kitchen counter on her lower back, like she was steadying herself. She inhaled sharply, and attempted to calm her racing heart as a delighted smile began to spread across her face.

“A real family.”

Shaman King Boys React to Meeting Reader For The First Time ✨

Includes: Yoh, Hororhoro, Ren, Lyserg, Chocolove, and Hao

Yoh:

Based on the situation, I believe his reaction would be different.

If you met him during the beginning shaman fights or during the tournament, I think he'd been in awe at your abilities.

No matter how strange your shamanic abilities may seem, so long as your not actively trying to murder anyone, he'd except you no matter what.

Even if him and Anna weren't engaged, you'd probably still face a lot of skepticism from her. She'd obviously be wary of you, but you two would probably grow close after a while.

Obviously, he wouldn't fall head over heels immediately. To me, Yoh is someone who would need to see different sides of you before ever trusting you fully.

Once the two of you were close, he'd absolutely be more open to hanging out one on one and getting to know you better.

Now, if you were to have met him during school or childhood, things would probably be different.

As a child, I think he'd be a lot more eager to hang out with you. After all, he didn't have any friends and only hung out with Tamao and his family.

He'd probably be more willing to approach you and develop a genuine friendship with you.

Despite how hectic his situation is, he'd definitely appreciate having you by his side.

Overall, he'd be eager to get to know you and develop a genuine bond with you.

Horohoro:

Now, for Horohoro, his reaction to meeting you would depend on a lot of factors.

Unlike Yoh, Horohoro is not the most accepting. If anything about you seems suspicious to him, he would definitely be cold to you initially.

He'd especially be cold to you if you're on Hao's team. Unlike Yoh, who would probably try to look past this and give you a chance, Horohoro would immediately be hostile towards you.

Another factor you'd have to consider is your personality. For example, if your personality was somewhat similar to Ren's, he'd totally be iffy around you.

On the other hand, if your personality was like Yoh's or Lady Jane's, he'd probably be more open to letting you hang out with him.

Once he was comfortable around you, I think he'd actually try to make some kind of effort to get to know you.

Of course, he'd be kind of awkward and standoffish, but it gets better the more time passes.

Now, if you two met as kids, it'd be a lot more difficult to get to know him.

Similar to his relationship with Kororo, he'd attempt to push you away in the beginning. He wouldn't want you to get close to him, so it'd take a lot of time and persistence to get through to him.

Unfortunately, you'd have to deal with his self conscious and spiteful episodes. It would be difficult and sometimes he'd say things he didn't mean, but he'd always try to make it up to you.

Overall, he's another person who'd be super grateful to have you around and would wholeheartedly cherish having you in his life.

Ren:

Ren is one of the people whose relationship with you would depend on when exactly you met him, but let's say you met him after he matured and stopped killing.

Even at this point, I think Ren would still be a bit hostile right out the bat.

Unless he met you through Yoh or someone in the group, he'd have no respect for you.

Of course, it would be different if he considered you a formidable opponent. He'd probably have a decent amount of respect for you and your fighting style, but I still doubt that he'd get close to you.

Assuming you two had never met before, it would take a VERY long time for him to trust and get comfortable with you.

However, it would be different if he met you in the past.

Let's say that you met him through his sister or something like that, since I doubt that his dad would take kindly to your presence otherwise.

Although younger and not exactly mature, I feel like it'd be a lot easier to build a relationship.

Yes, the relationship might not exactly be the healthiest, but I think he'd put up with you if you obey him.

Honestly, it's just far more preferable to meet him later on. I think this is because even if you guys were childhood friends, who's to say he (or maybe his dad?) wouldn't outright kill you over some kind of mistake?

In summary, I think he'd actually be a loyal friend...just not as a child. If you're willing to put in the work to get to know him and spend time with him, he'd remember and cherish it.

Lyserg:

Lyserg is another one of the boys where it would kinda depend on when you met him.

Let's say you met him before he joined the X-Laws. I think he'd definitely be a lot more open minded about meeting you.

He wouldn't judge you, unless you were openly/actively associating with Hao.

It'd be a lot easier to get along with him, plus I think he'd be more open about letting you get close to him.

Now, let's say you met him around the time when he first joined X-Laws.

At the height of Lyserg being sucked up in his mission of getting revenge, he'd definitely be a lot more of a challenge.

I also think that he may attempt to drop you as a friend, if you two were friends beforehand. Unless you persist on being by his side, he'd try to push you away.

Even if he did want to stay close to you, you'd have to go through Marco and all the other X-Laws.

I do think that he'd be a sweet guy in the beginning, but it really does depend on the timing. I personally didn't like Lyserg when he first joined X-Laws, but it definitely got better as the show went on.

Even though he had his rough patches, he'd still be polite and sweet towards you.

Overall, a great guy to meet, but it depends on what point you meet him.

Chocolove:

Joco, to me, would be the easiest to get along with.

He's very openminded and accepting, especially given his past. He wouldn't judge you for any of your faults and could potentially relate to you.

Now, if you were one of Hao's goons, he'd definitely be more on edge. However, if you're not outwardly hostile or anything, he'd possibly be willing to give you a chance.

Besides Yoh, he'd be one of the friendliest ones out of the group.

He's incredibly understanding, but he's also someone who seems eager to make friends and connections.

Of course, he'd probably be wary of you given the circumstances of the tournament, but he'd still be super fun and engaging.

I feel like you'd most likely meet him through a fight or by laughing at one of his jokes.

After a few conversations, I think he'd enjoy hanging out with you. Of course, you wouldn't get anything serious or deep out of him, but he would definitely be sweet.

Even when he becomes blind, I don't think that would affect how he would treat you.

Overall, his energy and easy going personality would make it pretty easy to get to know him. Given that his beliefs are based on rehabilitation and acceptance, he'd be more willing to give you a chance compared to the others.

10/10 friend and would probably be your best bet besides Yoh.

Hao:

Easily the worst one to meet if he didn't like you.

Assuming that you were at least associated with Yoh's group and unknown to him, he'd be interested as to who you were.

You'd have to be super careful with your thoughts around him, but he'd also be interested in the kind of mindset/opinions you have.

Even if you stayed away from him, it'd only make him more curious. He'd pop up spontaneously, which is probably how you two met in the first place.

Now, let's say you were one of his minions. Whatever situation you were in before doesn't matter to him, he'd still approach you out of curiosity.

Originally, he would just manipulate you to get you to join. Even if you did resist him at first, it's honestly inevitable.

At first, he'd pay minimal attention to you. However, after a while with you hanging around, he'd slowly grow closer to you.

Of course, it'd be incredibly discreet. He can't let the others know that he has favorites or any sort of weaknesses.

He'd meet you secretly in both scenarios, unless he wants to mess with Yoh's group. You're interesting to him, no matter if he can read your thoughts or not.

Overall, he's entertaining if he likes you. He'll let you hang around him as much as you want, just make sure not to bring awareness to anything... suspicious.

Just be careful not to piss him off, because he really doesn't want to waste his mana on consuming your soul.

Another form of criticism I have for shaman king's writing is the fact that Tamao becomes as abusive as Anna in flowers. Takei could've and should've written tamao as a strong female character without making her abusive. Even she;s afraid of Anna and hana is also hers and yoh's son (she had feelings for yoh) so it seems quite contradictory that she would hit their child anyway. I wonder if Anna even knows or she does and yet she doesnt care?

IIRC, she also uses a really strong oversoul on hana whenever he picks fights and misbehaves? I don't really like hana, but no wonder why he didnt tell tamao yohane tried to kill him. And we're supposed to see tamao as a replacement mom for hana and a strong character?

It doesn't even feel like character development but more like a form of possession at this point. Tamao was the timid type of character. For her development should be a visible curve from timid to more brave and confident. I never read the manga so I dunno if there is any time given to her development, but it feels like a jump for Tamao to be like this in Flowers. Which again brings back the limited archetypes that Takei uses for his female characters. He has only a few and he juggles them like balls. Thanks to that they really feel one-dimensional.

He really should work on this, because this is so bad.

I wonder what Anna and yoh were thinking when they brought a literal baby (hana) to a war zone. tamao also keeps hitting hana and it backfires on her because hana doesnt tell her yohane tried to kill him. I get it, Hana isn't a very nice person and bratty af, but welp, tamao, Anna and yoh all suck lmao.

I don't think Tamao sucks, because from what it is implied Hana pulls shit all the time, not just with Yohane. Whilst I am not too big on her physical abuse, I do understand why she felt like she needed to give him punishment without knowing the full context of the situation. At least she's actually trying to parent him, unlike his actual parents... Yoh and Anna on the other hand, I can agree with. Because yes and a thousand times yes, who is so fucking stupid to take their baby into a warzone?! They would have died if it weren't for nepotism! And then they ditch their child to the point where Hana actually thought that Tamao was his real mom? I wonder how much they're actually paying her to take care of all their responsibilities whilst they travel all over the world as hippies advocating for peace. I swear, Yoh and Anna never should have become parents, they are selfish as fuck. Ryu and Tamao are Hana's true parents if you ask me.
