“Tamao. Can you talk for a minute?”

The long haired young man stood silently waiting for an answer outside the closed door. When there was no reply - he looked up at the ceiling and sighed deeply. He bounced up and down slightly on the spot, growing somewhat impaitent.

Yoh gently but vigorously knocked on the door again.

“Tamao?”

“Come in.” came a quiet shallow voice from the other side.

Yoh slowly slid open the door and stepped into the ambient lit darkened room. He left the door partially open to allow the light to flood in.

“Close the door. Please.” firmly but calmly said the shugenja master shaman.

Yoh obeyed Tamao’s strict instructions and quickly turned around and shut the door. He then took a few hesitant steps further into the room and sat himself down on the floor opposite Tamao. Yoh remained silent, realising that he had, once again, interrupted one of Tamao’s deep elongated trances.

“You’ve spoken to the King?” quietly asked Tamao, eventually. She did not open her eyes as she spoke and remained in her still and calm cross legged pose. Several pink wisps appeared in the air around the pair and danced playfully between them.

“Yes.” replied Yoh, clearing his throat. “He said that something’s wrong in another world. He said… Hana’s in trouble.”

“I see.” softly replied Tamao, opening her eyes and locking her magenta eyes on Yoh’s worried expression. “I wondered how long it would take before he told you.”

“You knew?” gasped Yoh, stunned.

“What else did he say?” calmly asked Tamao, she closed her eyes once more and took in a deep inhale.

“Not much, he… he didn’t exactly go into details, but - what ever it is, it sounded like a big deal. He seemed worried. Which is not like him.”

Tamao remained silent for a moment before she calmly waved her hand in front of her and summoned a larger violet coloured will-o’-the-wisp between them. An image of a fair haired teenager appeared within it - and when Yoh saw him, his eyes widened.

“Is that…?” began Yoh, alarmed.

“A variant of him. One that is on a much darker path than ours.” confirmed Tamao.

“Is he okay?!” desperately asked Yoh as he leaned in closer to the image of his own son that had appeared in front of his eyes.

“It seems he’s facing some enormous forces… and battling some demons of his own. The King has chosen a path for him. He must fight in the King’s name and succeed. The fate of his universe depends on it. And…” Tamao paused. “Hm.”

“And…?” pressed Yoh, desperate to hear more.

“I see. Your brother’s throne depends on it too.”

“Hao’s in trouble?!” shrieked Yoh, leaping to his feet, his eyes white.

“The brother you know makes up just one piece of this story,” went on Tamao, “He may be the King here, but in this alternate realm, he is not the one in control. Sadly, the fate of this outcome rests entirely on this Hana’s shoulders - and there is not much we can do to change that.”

“Please Tamao. There’s got to be something we can do. Hana and Hao need us! We are family! No matter what universe, world, timeline - what ever - it doesn’t matter! That doesn’t change!” loudly pleaded Yoh. He froze again and swallowed nervously. He knew Tamao did not appreciate raised voices when she was performing one of her complex divinations, but he was desperate.

“Please, I’ll do anything.” sadly whispered Yoh, hoping his softened voice would be enough of an unsaid apology for shouting in her presence.

Tamao kept her intense gaze on Yoh for a moment before she closed her eyes again and began to concentrate harder. She screwed her eyes tightly closed as she began a new divination - searching further into the infinite knowledge of the Great Spirits - further than she had ever searched before.

Another foreboding silence grew. Yoh felt the atmosphere in the room change. The spiritual flames all around them grew larger, and then - Tamao saw something interesting.

Very interesting.

A slight amused smile appeared on her face.

“Yoh. Can you sacrifice Harasume for the sake of another world?” asked Tamao, firmly.

Yoh inhaled sharply - stunned by the question. But after a moment, a fierce determined smile appeared on his face.

“Anything.”

Hana-boy’s getting so many presents lately, first the PV then all the bday fanart! 😂 But also, I decided to coincide this with @skpetals ‘s August event!

Anyway, have a drabble to go along with this picture! (It’s below the cut)

Part 1

He couldn’t suppress the grin on his face as he stared at the pair.

“Is that…?” Asked the woman leaning next to him, looking over his shoulder as he flipped through photos.

“They’re celebrating Obon!” He beamed, looking at the radiant lantern lights around them. “…Huh, where’s Ryu?”

“Probably taking the photo.” the woman replied. She stared at the small boy in the photo. “Still not smiling for pictures, huh?”

The man couldn’t help but laugh. “He won’t do it unless he really feels like it! In a way, he’s much like you, isn’t he?”

The woman eyed him sternly. “And what is that supposed to mean?”

“It means that he’s cute when he pouts, just like you~” the man laughed again as he felt a few light hits to his shoulder.

“Tch.”

The couple both continued to stare at the Polaroid. It was a massive feat that this even got to them. But here it was, and he was just as they remembered. Messy blond hair, beautiful brown eyes, and still oh so tiny.

But…

“Can you believe he’s already in elementary?” The woman asked, breaking the silence.

“No,” he shook his head. “Time sure flies, doesn’t it?”

“He’s getting so big.” the woman commented softly.

“I think he can still fit squarely in our arms.” The man smiled.

The woman stared up at him, sharing one solemn glance before looking away. “…I never did hold him enough.”

The man closed his eyes. Some thoughts passed through his mind regarding one man— or rather, the lack thereof. There was only a room full of music records, a pair of headphones, and a guitar that was much too big for him to hold at the time.

“…me neither.”

He wondered if the boy in the picture loved Soul Bob too.

Ans: It's a secret, but rumors say that Nagumo owns the entire top floor of a luxurious penthouse apartment in Minato ward… or maybe not… (in other words, Nagumo is fucking filthy rich because most wealthy people in Japan live in the Minato ward/district of Tokyo City).

Q: Who did the tattoos on Nagumo's body/skin?

Ans: Some tattoos are usually done at a tattoo parlor, while others are done by himself.

Q. Are there any characters who have had a girlfriend before?

Ans: Among the main characters, Heisuke, Natsuki, and Nagumo have had girlfriends in the past. However due to their unique profession as assassins, their relationships don't last long.

Q. What are Nagumo's likes, dislikes & hobbies?

Ans: Nagumo's hobbies are sleeping and playing playful pranks on people. His likes are his bed and nighttime. His dislikes are mornings, to get up early in the morning, and riding fast vehicles. Apparently, he spends his weekends and holidays at home playing sudoku games and doesn't go out and meet people that much.

Ans: (In this new 2025 Fanbook, mangaka Yuto Suzuki sensei didn't mention Nagumo's alternative career choices, but he talked about it a few years ago where he said that Nagumo would've become a model or an actor if he didn't become an assassin).
