Riku: Oh, hey Taro! What are you doing here?

Taro: I just spending some time off with the twins, While R/n and Tregear are at work.

[The twins run up to their step-dad (Their names are Chika and Kaito.).]

Chika: Daddy, we gonna go get a drink. {points at drinking fountain/bubbler.]

Taro: Alright go for it.

Riku: Isn’t that fountain little tall for them?

Taro: It’s fine, just watch.

[They watch the twins stare at the fountain for a few seconds, before Kaito gets on all fours and lets his sister climb onto his back so she can reach the fountain, when Chika is done she does the same so her brother can also get a drink, they run back to Taro who high-fives them.]

Taro: That was some good teamwork you two!

As for the relationship with their older brother Taiga. He loves them to bits; even though he was adamant at first that he was going to hate them. Cos: "They're Tregear's kids..." but that all went away once Taro convinced him to hold them Taiga's heart melted and now spends his time playing with or spoiling the crap out of his younger siblings whenever he comes to visit. ]

a thought:

yoh and ren's relationship feels the healthiest and realistic because there is conflict and disagreement at times that is worked out through a blanket sense of knowing each other but also explicitly discussing and communicating thoughts and concerns when needed

idk man you can't convince me that anna just knows what yoh's thinking all the time every time without shit being said, i feel less and less understanding of the relationship between yoh and anna the more i look at it someone else explain to me maybe

Propaganda

Marlana: Alana and Margot are beautiful badass manipulative women. They meet because Alana is Margot's twin brother Mason's psychiatrist, and also Alana is trying to help Mason capture Hannibal so they can torture him. Along the way, Alana and Margot start sleeping together behind the scenes (has to be behind the scenes from Mason because he's family head and a huge homophobe but it is onscreen) and fall in love, and eventually Alana and Margot develop a plot to steal Mason's money, have a Verger heir (I'll spare you the gritty details but let's just say the Verger DNA comes from Mason, not Margot 💀), get married, (and bonus they do end up killing Mason) and live happily ever after as a badass wlw couple with their son (at least until they have to go into hiding a couple years later for Alana's safety when Hannibal breaks out of prison)

so beloved mutual is finishing up the shaman king manga at the moment and we just looked through my favourite scene together and I want to talk about my favourite visual storytelling from it

this is the great spirit scene with hao and yoh

in most of the manga, yoh's eyes are dark while hao's eyes are light. this is the easiest way to differentiate them besides things like hair length and clothes

in this scene, yoh's eyes are light too

however, you can still tell them apart because they're framed facing each other. in this scene, we see how similar the two are for the first time, how their minds work in the same way. we can see hao reflected in yoh instead of, as my mutual has pointed out, the parallels between anna and hao. they were once the same soul, after all

throughout their conversation, we zoom in closer and closer to their faces. at first, we can see hao's earrings to tell that he's the one speaking. again, we can reference the direction their heads face

and then the manga takes that away

for a few short panels, they're framed facing the same way, with the same eyes. the only difference is how their facial expressions have changed slightly. it's at this point, right before they're framed identically, that we get the split, and the end of the scene

I think this is what the manga means by "becoming one". yes the 2001 version was more literate, but I think I prefer this scene and its subtlety

this scene so clearly demonstrates how yoh and hao work when compared to each other. how in some ways they are one being but also where they're fundamentally different

and I just think that's neat

I’m probably use this blog for writing, talking about said fandoms, obsessively thinking about my ocs for each said fandom, and making very politically(/j) incorrect analysis about characters. And, more! I’m sorry this is so long, really just ask me abt anything and it’ll eventually happen.

Last thing: I might post about my own stories that are… painfully unfinished, so here’s a brief intro about each (they’re all heavily inspired by my respective fandoms, we don’t talk abt that):

*Insert Dramatic Title* (IDT): A robot by the name of Edis is asked to save humanity from a prophecy stating that, from five years from now, the world will end.

Slaughterhouse (SH): A pair of twins live in a “Haven Town” where there outside world was shrouded into an apocalypse. They learn how to truly survive in such a restrictive environment and find out the subtle corruption of their system.

‘Vest of the ‘Usual (VOU): A young boy has unusual abilities that leads him to work in the government, which depicts him having to do the unthinkable: go to school. And, do his job, that too.

Act I (A1): Olesia Lexina has had one dream all her life: protect humanity from the evil that is godlyhood! This follows her journey through the ideal of becoming on of the top members of the “Guardians of Humanity”.

Project: New World (P:NW): The government has allowed a project and organization by the name of “New World” to attempt to “purify humanity of all of its wrongdoings” and it has taken the world by storm; unfortunately, Chara has absolutely no interest in any of it.

The Eight Tragedies (T8T): An Angel has come to earth to ultimately destroy everyone on it, in which a humanities major named Reminiscence gives the world (her two friends) a chance to fix their problems before it can do so—by going into the past eight times to fix mistakes that should’ve never happened.

Majic Girl: BOOM ★ (MG:★): this one is something I’ve been meaning to get motivation to work on properly. A young freshman girl watches her whole world turn upside down (close to literally) to as some sort of eldritch horror resurfaces the earth! And she is one of the few people making the attempt to kill it.

$1 Supermarket ($1): The economy as we know it had crashed after inflation has risen way too high to the point even the upper class finds it hard to buy anything. Thus, a brand new chain store by the name of $1 Supermarket has arisen! Where everything is exactly $1! And there’s like, a bunch of monsters everywhere, but that’s besides the point.
