Mini Episode - “A Real Family”

“You’re going back to Izumo? Wh - When?” quietly asked Tamao, her voice barely louder than a whisper.

“Tomorrow,” replied Hao, taking off his jacket and hanging it on the coat rack in the corner of the room. He then approached the kitchen counter and leaned against it, crossing his arms and locking his eyes on Tamao and smiling warmly at her.

“Oh.” muttered Tamao.

“It should only be for one, maybe two days.” gently went on Hao. “Opacho has just got settled here, and she really seems to like spending time with you. You are so good with her. Would it be okay if she stayed here, with you?”

Tamao froze for a moment, she could feel her face getting warmer as Hao complimented her.

“As… as long as she’s okay with it, then, of course. She’s no trouble at all!” hurriedly said Tamao, she looked away from Hao briefly as she spoke.

“Thank you.” sighed Hao, relieved. “That is extremely kind of you, Tamao.”

There was a pause as Tamao’s face turned a bright pink once again. She took in a deep breath as she tried to steady her nerves to ask the questions that were on her mind.

“Wh - why are you going back? Is Yoh going too?” she asked, hastily.

“Yes.” nodded Hao. “He should have come with me last time, it probably would have saved us a second journey.”

Tamao blinked at Hao’s words but remained silent. She decided not to point out the fact that Hao had not answered her first question.

There was another short pause before Hao stood up straight and sighed.

“It’s late, and, we’ll be heading out early so… I probably should … ” quietly said Hao before making his way to the doorway to head to his room. He then stopped for a moment, before turning back towards her.

“Maybe when I get back, we could do something fun together, take Opacho somewhere. It would be nice for her to experience some kind of normality. You know, the sort of thing a real family does.” Hao then closed his eyes and beamed a radiant kind smile at Tamao, before turning and walking calmly out of the room.

As Hao left, Tamao stepped backwards until she felt the kitchen counter on her lower back, like she was steadying herself. She inhaled sharply, and attempted to calm her racing heart as a delighted smile began to spread across her face.

“A real family.”

Finished re-readin' Shaman King, having the ending on Book for the first time ! It was the greatest story of all time

-- Actually, I think it's a little better in the beginning--before all the Alive Powder, etc.--but it's still pretty cool

-- Their oversouls were more interesting before they became the elemental warriors; everyone already does that with the elements [earth/fire/water/air]. Avatar...Captain Planet...Shaman King....in fact, that's what inspired me to create the Nutrition Warriors back in the day, who, as you know, used the food groups instead

-- If I were Shaman King, I'd want to make a world wherein everyone could relax and live in peace, just like Yoh [wanted]. And I'd make Ordernateur, etc., real . And everyone gets a house that they can decorate however they want, like in Animal Crossing. And find love, if they want

-- Back in the day, my mother thought OBVIOUSLY Yoh would become Shaman King but he would say to the rest "you're in charge of this, you're in charge of this, etc." which of course didn't quite happen. But maybe he did in the original anime, since we never found out who became Shaman King there !

-- It shows an older Opacho, I was once interested in seeing this because there seemed to be some confusion on her gender, not that it really matters of course but just curious. Speaking of which, I wonder if "Princess Hao" is trans icon [?]

-- It looks like there's more character information at the end; will have to look at that later. As noted before, kind of sad that they apparently didn't keep in touch with Ren and Jeanne, but nice to see everyone All Growed Up !

Finally we see a glimpse of adult Opacho in the raw chapter of Shaman king super star! It's been so long since I last saw her, Hopefully it doesn't take long to see her , Hao , Yoh and Anna in the future chapters!

I wish it was in English but it may take a while for that to happen.😭

HaoAnna is not my cup of tea

HaoAnna or Hao x Anna is a very popular ship with Hao. It comes right after Hao x Yoh and Hao x Lyserg. HaoAnna is often shipped as a triangle ship with Yoh. More than the ship itselves. Hao is also shipped with Opacho, Horohoro, Jeanne, Tamao, Marion, Hana and many more. I'm hearing about some shippings for the first time. The most popular shipping with Anna is Yoh x Anna.

The decisive factor for this couple is probably the scene in which Anna hits Hao. Anna: Look, if you keep talking nonsense... *tries to slap Hao* Hao: *stops her hand and scowls* Hao: *put his other hand next to Anna's face against the stone* Now I like you even more. You're the perfect wife for the Shaman King. Hao: *tries to get nearer to her* Anna: *sweats* Anna: *pulls herself together* Anna: Not so fast. I still have my left! *slaps Hao is his face* The scenes in which Anna wants to make Yoh strong so that she "doesn't get stolen by someone" and in which Hao happily tells Opacho that Anna hits like his mother, further encourage this shipping. Also, it was Anna who destroyed Haos Shikigami's and thus piqued his interest. Anna is so tough that she takes on Hao with his own shinigami and even kicks him when he tries to grab her again. Yoh's friends also see a resemblance between Anna and Hao's mother, Asanoha.

So this shipping is based on two arguments: 1. Anna is not afraid of Hao, which impresses him quite a bit. It is shown again and again how people are afraid of Hao because he is so powerful. The only people who aren't afraid of him are Anna and Yo. 2. Anna and Asanoha don't look alike. In addition, both are prone to hitting with the flat of their hands. Asanoha is important to Hao. Her death was the trigger of his misanthropy. So HaoAnna has valid points why it could work as Shipping. I'll explain now why I don't like it. While Anna and Asanoha may be similar, there is a definite difference between them: While Anna and Asanoha may be similar, there is a definite difference between them. Although Asanoha is also tough and tends to raise her hand against her loved ones, she is a very loving and wise person. Anna, on the other hand, is aggressive and cold. That doesn't mean she doesn't care about the people around her. It just means she shows her feelings differently. And that's the catch for me. Hao and Anna are both very cold personalities. Both are not good at showing their feelings to the other. That's why Anna works so well with Yoh. Yoh understands her feelings and can handle her coldness. He is the gentle one. loving part of the relationship and the one who approaches Anna. The same with Ren and Jeanne. While Ren tends to be cold and doesn't show his feelings that much, Jeanne tends to be gentle and the driving force behind their relationship. I think that a rather cool person needs an emotional person in order not to let the relationship grow cold. Does Hao have really feelings for Anna: Anna has often shown that she is a serious opponent. Hao was definitely impressed by her strength and fearlessness. But how seriously does he really mean his offer? I can well imagine that Hao just wanted to tease her. That would suit him well. Because I don't think he had any serious intentions of robbing Yoh of his fiancée. Most importantly, he seems to respect his twin. In my opinion, Hao needs a woman who is not afraid of him and who can gain respect from him. But he also needs a woman who is gentle and loving to him. That's why HaoAnna is not my favorite ship. ATTENTION: Ship what you want as long as you respect each other's shipping. Anyone who likes HaoAnna should enjoy it. I was just giving my opinion why I don't like this shipping.

Mini Episode - “A Real Family” (Part Three)

“Oh so, that’s why she knows you so well?” softly asked Tamao, slightly amazed.

“Opacho knows Hao-sama the best!” squealed Opacho.

“Heh, she’s not wrong. She probably knows me better than I know myself.” chuckled Hao.

The three star gazing shaman lay head-to-head in a star shaped formation underneath a vast starlit sky. Occasionally, glittering fireflies floated out of the soft grassy plain surrounding them and danced above their heads.

“What - what do you mean?” quietly asked Tamao, she found it a lot easier to speak out loud without making eye contact with the one she was talking to, and kept her eyes firmly on the starry constellations above her.

Hao sighed deeply as he searched for the right words to explain.

“Opacho has this amazing ability to accept me for who I am no matter what the circumstances may be… I suppose you could say, that’s what real love is.” gently explained Hao, smiling a bit.

“Opacho loves Hao-sama the best too!”

Tamao smiled in response to Opacho’s outpouring of love towards her devoted guardian, but she remained silent as she quietly considered Hao’s words.

“It’s complicated and hard to explain,” went on Hao, realising he was being somewhat cryptic in his explanation, “Especially with little ears listening… And, I’m not entirely sure I fully understand it myself, but, I’m just thankful that something brought us back together. My life would feel… empty, without her in it.”

Opacho beamed a happy delighted smile up at the sky as Tamao’s mind whirled with more and more questions.

“What was it like… going to another world?” whispered Tamao, closing her eyes briefly as she tried to imagine what that would feel like for a moment.

“Terrifying.”

Tamao opened her eyes at the word. She could hardly imagine Hao being afraid of anything.

“I thought I had lost everything. It was like everything I had worked so hard for was gone. Everything I knew, everyone I cared about…” trailed off Hao.

Opacho let out a little whimper. Hao lifted his hand towards her and gripped her little fingers to reassure her. Opacho smiled in response.

“But then I found Yoh in that world. And the very first thing he did was he brought me and Opacho together. It was like, even though we had just met - he knew me better than I knew myself, too.”

The small child leapt to her feet and began to skip through the grassy field around them, purposely disturbing the resting fireflies so they would swarm the air around them. Tamao and Hao sat up to keep her in their sights, sharing in the same peaceful moment as they watched the happy little girl play.

““Accepting someone for who they are no matter what the circumstances may be”…” quietly whispered Tamao.

Hao remained silent as he absorbed his own words himself as they were repeated back to him.

“Is it true that…” quietly began Tamao, eventually, “Opacho has the same power that Anna once had?”

“In a way,” replied Hao, there was a slight hint of sadness in his tone, he kept his eyes firmly on Opacho as he answered Tamao’s question,

“Opacho’s Reishi is still somewhat in its infancy. Fortunately, though, she was cared for by someone who understood her power and how to properly nurture it.”

After a moment, Tamao hesitantly turned her head to look at Hao’s face, as she did, she noticed there was a hint of pain in his expression,

“Was that “someone”… you?” she whispered, softly.

Hao paused, before turning and meeting Tamao’s curious star lit eyes.

“Yes. I suppose it was.”
