i wish more continuities played with the horror of being revived after your (presumably) grisly demise. It must be real traumatizing right?? Like, it's gotta be! It could really help with characterizing/building a particular character too (cough optimus cough).
You my dear requester have come to exactly the right writer for this request. I have a fic based on this general premise called A Mere Shadow if you are interested. However, I will never turn down the chance to hurt my blorbo even more.
I may have gone a bit nuts with this concept so hold on-
━━━━━━ ⊙ ❖ ⊙ ━━━━━━━━━━━━ ⊙ ❖ ⊙
A Shadow of Death
Optimus Prime has been faced with death many times. Even as Orion Pax he did not fear it. Death was a fact of life, one he came to accept in his youth. The Matrix only further eliminated that intrinsic desire to flee the possibility of being killed. To a certain extent, it was a blessing as it kept him from faltering at crucial moments, even if he was met with pain for his determination.
Blaster shots a little too close to his spark chamber for comfort, stab wounds deep enough to be concerning, plague of the deadly variety, and more close calls than he dared to count... they were all nothing compared to the true call and agony of death. The fire that rained down on the base that fateful cycle was torture for Optimus. When Smokescreen found him, he very nearly begged Primus to let him die. Only once he was dragged away did he have time to think and to rationalize. Living in that state was a torment, but at the time, he knew it was to end. He made his peace with death long ago. He did not fear its embrace.
It was painful, but it was meant to end. He felt his spark abandon his frame, he sensed his mortality fading as he gave up his life in the line of duty. He was not content, but he was ready to pass and leave the burden behind. It had been so long, and finally, death welcomed him into its patient arms. Its chill wrapped around him, digging into the core of his being. It ached, but it was not unpleasant, especially as he began to see the fallen welcoming him, beckoning him to come home. His attachments faded and for the first time since he was a youngling, he was at peace. He did not expect to be drawn back sharply by a power he instinctively knew belonged to another Prime. He did not know what to think when he woke in his new frame, one built stronger, faster, and more capable. However he knew it was wrong, or rather his frame was not the only thing about him to change.
There was not time to think or time to consider. All he could do was fight and spend the next several cycles focused on getting his team settled. They needed to see he was strong, and so he kept up the façade as weeks passed and a shadow of death hung over him. He could not tell them, for what would he say? How was he supposed to explain the oddities that hung around him at all hours, making him suffer in silence while unable to speak. Something didn't let him, almost as if there were rules that forbade him to reveal that which weighed on him to those who could not sense his discomfort as he could.
It began the first time he returned to their new base after a scouting mission. He had been chilled ever since he was reforged and thought it perhaps due to his spark adjusting to the new frame or vice versa. He spent hours flying and moving, working his engine and his thrusters to the point of his plating being hot to the touch. Despite that... he was cold, not in painful manner, but merely... uncomfortable. It was enough to keep his senses sharp and yet it was unnatural. He went to Ratchet to try and have his frame examined, but all the doctor could tell him was that it must have been a quirk of his reforging. His systems were operating fine and his fans were regulating his temperature even better than before. There was no reason for him to feel chilled unless it was a mental issue. At that Ratchet attempted to have him sit down for a mental exam, but Optimus waved it off as his frame still taking time to settle.
Optimus did not bring up the topic again, not even when he stood beside burning buildings and still felt that coldness seeping into his protoform. He could feel digits caressing his plating, yet when he tried to check his sensors, there was nothing there. The cold haunted him, and in the end, he wrote it off as a punishment of eluding death one too many times.
The cold was bearable, but he hated recharge with a passion. Up until his reforging, recharge was one of the rare blessed moment of rest he was allowed. But now? He dreaded every instance where his frame demanded time to recover. He tried to drag it out for as long as he could with additives and all sorts of substitutes for rest, including plugging his processors into the database to defrag while he was still up and active. But in the end, the need eventually came, or the team would grow suspicious and he would be forced to retreat to his berth all the same.
Laying down for recharge was always comforting. It was familiar and allowed age old routine to take over, allowing him to vent deeply and simply feel for a while. But that is when the trouble always started. Optimus could never stop himself from feeling the pull of recharge. Once it set in, he couldn't move. His frame froze up and despite him being quite active mentally, his frame eased and rested, falling into recharge long before he did. Sometimes his optics were unshuttered, other times they weren't when the paralysis set in. Whatever the case, it always felt like he was back in that cave, bleeding out and in agony. It was terrifying to be stuck in that paralysis before recharge as nearly every time there was a haunting moment when his vents failed to work and his spark ceased in its blaze for but a nanoklik. But Primus, that one nanoklik always felt like an eternity where his frame almost seemed uncertain if it was alive or dead.
At the end of that long nanoklik he could feel digits running along his frame and he could see things in the corner of his vision regardless of whether or not his optics were functioning. Whispers that he could not comprehend echoed in his audials as his frame began to ache, desperate for ventilation and for energon to continue flowing. Then just as it started to grow unbearable, almost as if he were about to die, then his frame would return to its normal functioning and the paralysis would fade. For the first few deca-cycles after his restoration, Optimus threw himself to his pedes after such incidents and took up the night watch, unwilling to recharge after the threat of death hung over him.
He almost went to Ratchet, he almost burdened his oldest friend with his fears. So many cycles he spent nearly half in recharge as he fought against the need for rest, terrified of that looming death that never came. He did not fear death, but its agony was something he grew to be wary of. It was nearly enough to force him to act and plead with his team for aid. However in the end... he abstained, even though it pained him more when the dreams began.
Optimus had always dreamed, even as Orion. It was part of his nature, and gaining the Matrix only gave his dreams more vividness and viability. And yet... after being reforged, he no longer dreamed at all, at least not as he used to. When he fell into recharge, he found himself in a void with no light, no sound, and nothing to help him determine if he was up, down, or even within his own frame. He could never see his servos, nor could he sense himself moving if he willed himself to. He was simply left in a world of darkness for hours, unable to feel anything except the chill that plagued him during his waking cycles. That alone was nerve wracking but manageable due to the strange sense of peace he found within that void. Sometime he could swear he saw motes of light dash past him, slipping through that void and vanishing before he had time to observe them. He made it habit to search out those motes of light while within the void that came for him during recharge. It kept him occupied and made the chill less startling.
He learned to recharge through it all, but never for long. The lack of rest made itself known throughout his waking hours as he wandered and did his work. The chill kept him awake, but he could not stop himself from feeling the pull of that cold void whenever his focus slipped. It was almost as though it was calling him, trying to reclaim him after he escaped its grasp. Sometimes when he was particularly unfocused, he would find himself standing under the stars, watching and observing, unable to move as his mind seemed to leave the confines of his frame. In those instances he could sense things, he could see those same motes of light dashing around him, and with time, he came to understand what they were.
Life, sparks, souls.
It took time, but he came to understand. By the time Megatron was gunning to rebuild the Omega Lock and Ratchet left to join that effort, Optimus found himself... colder. He had never feared death, it was a part of life he didn't care to know but accepted all the same. Now though? Now he understood it. The chill forever sunk into his frame, and he noted that what once was a mere mental issue became reality. He was cold to the touch, even after battle. Things grew to be more distant, or rather less important as the cycles passed him by. The void that he walked in was trying to reclaim him. He could sense it in the way his spark flared and grew dimmer. The void wanted him back, and every day he was drawn closer to it.
What frightened him after his reforging grew to be commonplace. He didn't fear it anymore. The void that came in dreams came to be a second home of sorts, one he grew more adept at seeing the sparks within. It seemed wrong for him to be at peace with the way his mind shifted and how he no longer was terrified of those brief moments where his frame threatened to fail. It simply did not bother him when he saw the void in the corners of his vision or when chilled digits touched him. It became familiar, and with that familiarity, the living realm grew more distant.
He did not emote often, at least not as the others did. Now he did not express himself at all. There was no need. The world was changed for him. The team worried but chalked it up to Ratchet being gone. They were partially correct. Without that mortal tie, the cold came and seeped deeper, making it easier to slip and see the cracks, the thinner places between reality where sparks darted, returning to their maker after their lives ended. It fascinated him, even though it often had him staring into what the others considered empty space when he was supposed to be acting.
He was changing, and what fully solidified that for him was when he began to feel the chill of death closing in around others. He first noted it around Vehicons, mainly those who had brushes with death or were unfortunately killed in combat. There was little he could do for them, as usually by the time he noted the chill, it had already wrapped around the Vehicon in question, dooming them to their fate. He only acted when he felt it around Arcee before she tried to enter a groundbridge. It was harder to feel, but he still stopped her. When questioned, he found he could not speak and explain, so he opted for vague wording, hoping it would help her to see and understand.
Arcee: Optimus, what was that for?
Optimus: You cannot go there. The chill follows you.
Arcee: Sir? What does that mean.
Optimus: Danger Arcee. A threat I cannot save you from.
Arcee: I don't understand-
Optimus: You do not need to. I sense the chill, I see the looming cloud. Do not go. You shall not return if you do.
Harder to focus, harder to think. Whenever he was not working, Optimus watched the sparks come and go, observing with a strange distant affection he could not place. All the while the chill grew deeper, closer to his spark, and his frame became weary despite its power. He was changing...
And the void wanted him back.

(@ftl-faster-than-life HI THIS TOOK A HOT MINUTE WEH Also thanks Tumblr for eating my asks again smh) oH BOY, WHERE DO I START Oh Barry, Barry, Barry, my sweet babygirl, how you've been so incredibly villainized by this fandom I'm going to take this opportunity to address and debunk as many misconceptions about Barry's character that I can remember, in the case if someone who doesn't really know Barry all that well is reading this or to hopefully change some people's minds~
* "Barry is boring": Well, yes but actually no. That's the beauty of Barry--he is designed to be your average, unassuming everyday kind of guy. Problem is, a lot of people think that's all there is to him, but that's really only just the surface.
He has flaws. He's prone to making decisions without consulting his family if he thinks it's for the greater good. You need to explicitly tell this man if you wanna be his lover because he absolutely can NOT read romantic cues to save his own life, he's a guilt sponge, he's weird, he LOVES science and comics and is a huge nerd!! He gets jealous!
Guys-Guys?? He's aN ELDRITCH HORROR??? HELLO????? He is CONSTANTLY living in sheer and utter denial and is desperately grasping his extremely thin veneer of being human, and yet, because of this, he actually puts his family in more jeopardy. Do you even realize how fascinating that is
Barry is a character who also deeply craves companionship/people. He struggles with depression and suicidal tendencies ever since being resurrected. He tries so hard to be what everyone else wants him to be and meet their expectations while failing to take care of himself in the process. He's so much more complex than just "Wally's nice father figure who died in Crisis". People also tend to equate "boring" with "being good/kind" which, you know...I very much disagree with but that's just my opinion * "Barry is racist!" LOL This one is just so wildly incorrect. The origin of this misconception comes from an out-of-context panel Justice League of America #173) of Barry being angry about Black Lightning joining the JL. If you read the whole page the panel comes from, you'd see that in actuality Barry is NOT angry about a black man joining the League but rather, he's angry that that seems to be the only reason Oliver wants him and Barry is (rightfully) calling Oliver out on that. There has been no other time where Barry has a problem with people of color
* "Barry is a Republican" I don't even know where this fanon came from. I think this may have originated from Wally's run where Wally was a conservative and he just assumed?? Barry was the same??? Which is SO laughably wrong (Wally bby, stop projecting on your uncle challenge) For the major part of Barry's original run (and honestly, the majority of the Flash runs after that), he remained largely apolitical . People see a white guy from the 60s and automatically assume he's right leaning /shrug * "Barry's a cop!" Yeahhh, not quite actually. He's a CSI, a forensic scientist, not a blue collar badge sporting cop. He's the behind-the-scenes guy, the one who studies the crime scene and tries to piece together the evidence and bring the culprit to justice. There IS a difference. But people don't really care about the technicalities, tho, they just want to hate Barry and him being "basically" a cop is a fast and easy excuse to do so. And DC certainly isn't helping matters with them constantly pushing the cop agenda for him (thanks a lot DC) * "Barry is sexually-repressed": This is a headcanon I seen a fair amount of and--okay, I get it. Barry is shy and reserved and blushes up a mad storm when someone compliments him. I can see how that might lead people to interpret that as him being sexually repressed/being a prude. But like....Buddy. Homie. Amigo.
This man had more canon sex than Hal Jordan. He and Iris were getting it on FREQUENTLY in the Silver Age and that's not me exaggerating. Just look at Flash #197 where it was Barry's birthday and he and Iris made out and stayed in bed practically the whole day together. Maybe you could say they just did that in the morning and they did other things later buuuut I don't believe that for a minute lol. Or! In Flash #195 where Barry was late to a ceremony of a submarine departure because (you guessed it!) he was too busy exploring his wife's mouth. Just because Barry doesn't make sexually-charged remarks or cop a feel from Iris constantly doesn't mean he's opposed to sex. I see it more as him just being way more private and reserved about it, but he IS very much down to fuck as she is (or Hal! Whichever your ship may be~)
While we're kinda on the subject, I'm really not a fan of the whole Barry being "shojo-fied/uwu-fied" thing, if I'm being honest?? Like, yes, if you give him any kind of compliment, he will blush furiously and stutter. But that's different from him being totally ignorant on what sex is/being a weak, delicate little flower who needs a "Big, Strong man" like Hal to save him (also, like...can we stop treating Barry as the "girl" of the ship just because he's skinnier and smaller than Hal pls and thank you). He is an mid-20-30 year old adult man. And a forensic scientist who probably seen a lot of sex-related crimes in his line of work. I'm pretty sure he knows what sex is, guys (in fact, he would be the guy who actually hosts Sex Ed classes bc the misinformation out there is staggering lol)
"Barry is weak/one of the weaker superheroes": Ok, I've never seen anyone say this persay, but it is very evident in how people portray him a lot of the time. They see his smaller frame and the fact that he runs fast to mean he's a glass cannon (Honestly they do this to a lot of the other speedsters as well) which hi! Wrong again! Speedsters are actually INSANELY durable little dudes. He could tank a punch from Darkseid. He can drag MASSIVE SHIPS behind him!! Wally once punched Eobard with the equivalent force of a dwarf star. Yeah. Now I get whump, I personally love it, I do, but I also enjoy seeing Barry being the absolute powerhouse he is. He can vibrate through solid matter, he can manipulate frequencies, and he's incredibly smart with how to use his powers, always thinking up on the spot improv strategies and techniques! Please stop nerfing him, guys, speedsters get too much of that from the writers OTL * "He's conservative because of his buzzcut!" Ok this one actually had like, a whole article?? On it?? And it truly is so wild lmao. When the only thing people can find to hate a character on is his haircut, you know they have no basis for their argument lol * "Barry is abusive!" Nope. Not even close. People love to pull this as a "gotcha" to Barry fans, regarding the panels of "Barry" beating up Wally and verbally abusing him (The Return of Barry Allen). Except....that wasn't Barry, that was Eobard disguised as him. You know...if you read the full run, you would know that lol You literally couldn't find a more least abusive person than Barry lol. Which actually leads me into the next one... * "Barry was an example of toxic masculinity!" AH yes, of course, with how he's so openly kind and compassionate, how he loves kids and animals, how he openly cries and shows emotion, how he's super respectful of people regardless, how he chugs Respect Women juice all day everyday, how he's contributing to fundraisers to help impoverished people and further medical progress, how he's so concerned about the state of the environment and is firmly against consumption of fossil fuels, how he constantly tells his son nephew he's so proud of him and that he's his hero, how he runs home after work bc he's genuinely so excited to see his wife, how he loves her SO much and smothers her with kisses every chance he gets UGH. How does Iris stand him /s And since we're talking about Barry and how the fandom treats him, I can't not talk about the elephant in the room--Flashpoint To start off, lemme preface this real quick:
FLASHPOINT WAS NOT BARRY'S FAULT
He DID NOT intend to trade the lives of his family for his mom He DID NOT run back in time because he was jealous of Wally (uhh lmao what???? Yeah, I can't even begin to explain how wack that is) He DID NOT run back in time because he was "selfish" and "wanted his mommy back" (unfriendly reminder that Nora is a separate character and shouldn't be treated as just an appendage of a male character <333) Some actual context for non-comic readers: Eobard killing his mom is actually an aberration of the true timeline. It was PERFECTLY REASONABLE to assume that it would restore itself to its original version!! Barry had also traveled in time before in the comics without any repercussions or ill effects, so there was NO CONCEIVABLE REASON FOR HIM TO THINK ANYTHING OF THE SCALE OF FLASHPOINT WOULD EVEN HAPPEN If people had read the issues preceding Flashpoint, they'd see Barry did all of that for Nora!! Because he despised the fact that she had to pay with her life because of a villain of his!! That it wasn't right for her to die for his sake!!
"But Eobard said Flashpoint was Barry's fault-!" EOBARD is A BITCH ASS LIAR who purposely twists the truth to hurt Barry as much as he can!! Of COURSE he would say that!! What ACTUALLY happened is that Eobard is the one who somehow made Nora's death such a critical and important fixture in time to the point of just tempering with that can cause a catastrophic domino effect. Flashpoint is EOBARD'S FAULT and HIS ALONE (and Idk, Doctor Manhattan's too ig if you wanna include him)
Barry loves his family and cares so, so, SO EXTREMELY MUCH. He could literally not be any prouder of Wally if he actually tried!! Everything he does is for his family, even sacrificing his own mental health and happiness for them and it makes me SO sad to see everyone cling to this butchered version of him in their minds (though it's not entirely their fault, DC is also definitely to blame)
#dc#dc comics#barry allen#the flash#eobard thawne#reverse flash#character ask game#dc meta#I tried to scale back my saltiness but uhhh#Yeah it still kinda came out there at the end there lol my bad everybody#I'm tired of seeing slander on my dash#Flashpoint apologist? I should have touched on dark elves in my beauty standards post... Let me just slap this on here real quick. So as we went into there, beauty standards can show political dynamics and sort of reflects the politics of who get to be seen as human, who get to be seen as desirable and promoted within a society. So like, beauty is power right, in the sense that beauty standards are highly influenced by the ones in power, the ones who have the time & resources to look a certain way and the power to present that look as desirable to large groups. It’s complex and diverse but generally beauty standards are upheld by the elite, the influential.
By the former 'time & resources' thing I mean stuff like clothes, health, makeup or even cosmetic surgeries, or even simply the freedom to only go out in public when you look your best— Meanwhile the latter, the power to present that look as desirable to large groups, usually applies more to situations where it’s about a whole category of people like an ethnicity that was uplifted as the ideal. Not just in a political or economic dynamic, but discrimination on a systematic level without regard for individual appearance or action.
For example in the former, not all people who wear makeup are rich, and while makeup did historically help signal status, if you’re poor and wear nice makeup you can still touch some of that beneficial association with the beauty standards that makeup helps you attain. In the latter……. Well you get, "no, all elves are good! So the elves who do bad things must be something else!". Where, in trying to have uniform standards for a whole group, you kinda just get erased or othered if you don’t conform to expectations. The elves especially put effort into giving off this air of perfection, which they've successfully made tallmen populations believe. So, for those people, the answer that "But elves are inherently good and beautiful and perfect?" asks, isn't "well elves mustn't be inherently perfect", but instead is "there must be bad ones too, innately too." A similar phenomenon happens with the reverse too, where people will say there are "the good ones" within a group that's seen negatively.
"But Fumi, in this case the difference is purely linguistic and perceived, there’s no visual difference!" Yeah, and there being little visual distinction between two groups has never stopped people from being discriminated tbh. Different types of christians seeing each other as heathwbs for example, or the deep british vs irish hatred that has existed. A tidbit of history I find fascinating was the infamous use of "speak white" from english-speaking canadians against french-speaking canadians especially, because complicated history aside, last century as the business owners the anglophones had the power over the majoritarily francophone working class and a lot of political sway even though they were the minority in the Québec region. There’s a different cultural and ethnic identity there, and language was the most important difference between the two groups- and I suppose the most noticeable one.
The way we as social creatures and social groups categorize people and the groups they form is complex, interesting and very important to our society and the way we approach both the world and social interactions, and that's what leads to discrimination. We decide what’s important and then we decide it’s what people should be judged and distinguished by. Belonging to a group is a show of status, and can be a weaponized both ways, for and against. If you’re not worthy to be an elf, a "good" elf, then you’re not.
Interesting especially because looking at the elf portraits page there seems to be many different cultures within the elf race, so yes "good elf" vs "dark elf" is considered something like a race rather than an ethnicity or culture presumably. There's definitely a "main" elven culture since it seems pretty uniform whenever it's brought up in the adventurer's bible and the story, though, wether the differenr cultures form different communities in different places or live together as one nation. But maybe more treated like a mental illness since it’s acquired, or sometimes slang? It's not completely clear wether it's thought of as fully innate or something learned, a chosen moral failure like sin is, but with how they speak about it they do sound very essentialists, even Chilchuck seems to get a chill considering Marcille could be one. Quoting Kui's lore comic, "There are two kinds of elves, nice holy elves and evil elves bewitched by darkness". It’s just considered like an innate thing that separates them from the concept of elves... 🤔 But this sort of category being vague is often a feature and not a bug, because then they can be a boogeyman to bring up just whenever is convenient, that can fit whoever, like calling a kid a "fairy's child" for whatever behavior in the olden days, because if you don't precise a lot what a dark elf is then it can apply to whoever you see fit, and it doesn't need to be coherent or consistent. The sort of discrimination headspace that leads to the classic fascist "the enemy is both strong and weak" type rethoric.
"Dark elves" is interesting within Dunmeshi because it's about people trying to fully separate elves from the concept of bad and untrustworthy people, even though they look the same. "Elf" isn’t just a beauty standard, it is The ultimate ideal of perfection both in appearance and morality, and if something threatens that perception and reputation it has to get rationalized and compartmentalized. Those are coping mechanisms to avoid having your whole world view challenged or shattered. To tallmen who practically worship elves, it’s a huge deal!! To them that makes it make sense! Some elves are born good and some elves are born evil, simple as! No world view re-examination needed!
So for Marcille for example... It’s interesting because she has an outside view of elven society despite being elven herself. She was raised amongst tallmen, aka the people who idolize elves to this intense degree. It had to have affected her dynamics with others— not unlike the academy students, mostly gnomes and tallmen, who looked up to her as some natural-born genius, even though she did do research and study to get her skills and grades. It also had to affect her relationship with having a role model growing up (having none around except for her mother who pretty much renounced her elven culture, a novel series that sensationalizes and glamorizes elves), her dynamic with being elven itself, because even though she doesn't feel like she fully fits into it she's interested in elven culture, and she herself enforces the beauty standards around elves and acts elitist about it- as seen when tallmen actors playing Daltian Clan opera, when men are very masculine rather than very androgynous like with Laios, having long hair, having no facial or body hair. With this angle, all of this behavior of hers is very "internalized high standards that were my bible to follow growing up and so others must follow them too and these high standards must be worth upholding".
Considering everything, elves being looked up to as a role model in appearance and behavior, plus them having the reputation of being great at magic, and Marcille having grown up amongst mostly tallmen, we start understanding that there was IMMENSE pressure on Marcille to conform to that idea of an elf. She has a lot of pressure and a very high beauty & behavior compass to conform to. She also has an idealist and rigid sense of justice and morals, like how Namari is a heartless traitor for leaving instead of coming along to save Falin, and she needs people to believe she has noooo facial or body hair. She probably WAS afraid of being seen as a dark elf, aka fundamentally evil, for her dark magic research. You don't want to be a letdown, do you? You don't want to be the ugliest elf, do you? You don't want to be a dark elf, do you? You don't want to be one of the bad ones.
Shave your facial hair and deny you have any body hair. Take care of elven traditions like hair-braiding and have pride. Be the kind, smartest model student. Do magic by the book. Never do dark magic. Ah shit-
And so she hid the domain of her research, and so she hid being a half-elf.
#Beauty standards are a way to be seen as more human n worthy but so is performing a behavior. Like masking or showing parts of u#It’s all about performing your humanity n worth it’s alllll about belonging in a social group n being valued by it#Maybe that’s why i like sociopolitics hm. Marcille my beloved#Marcille Donato#Read Distant Utopia by Kui#dungeon meshi#Would it be comedically wrong if i tagged this bite sized fumi#kinda the reverse of model minority myth but with the same lived pressure#spoilers#dungeon meshi manga spoilers#you know. If you consider Marcille having reallyyy a hard time fitting in especially into the elven mold then her succubus being#her fav Dalclan character treating her like the novel protagonist- a girl who's a LONGLOST PRINCESS who was a noooble elf all along#and swept away to become part of elven society and important and cherished is very...... aughhhh yeah#i mention it often but imo the point of Mithrun looking exactly liek general Hareus is to show fantasy vs reality of like#the glamorized elven military in novels that Marcille grew up liking vs the real elven military that creatres such miserable shells of ppl#the very much not glamorized or likable Mithrun that's after her to kill her

A still frame from the animatic I'm working on. The japanese text is just a lyric from the song~ 😺
#krosmoz#wakfu#dofus#joris jurgen#''how much layers of symbolism can i cram into an image that appears for 3 seconds'' challenge accomplished successfully#myart#1. the tarot used are self-explanatory. the tower tarot's design is lifted directly from aux tresors de kerubim (im insane)#the reversed empress has hearts and spades (kerubum and atcham) as well as planet symbols. (mercury fits joris as a character;#saturn is the capricorn planet and Joris's canonical zodiac sign is capricorn. also saturn fits him too.)#the reversed star tarot also has the capricorn constellation on it. because i am insane.#the red roadmap/line on the background leads from stars to the moon.#and stars are a common thing to see in aux tresors.#the moon has been used as symbolism for immortality and loneliness both in my works; krosmoz; and real life.#so stars -> moon (and the tarot in between) are kinda a summary of his life. but with the way that it both starts and ends in space there i#a feeling that his life is marked by loneliness/immortality from the start#so yeah this is me being insane about aux tresors again. my most favorite show for 7yo children and Wakfu's better more well written cousin#anyway the animatic is 49-51% done.#ok i will also elaborate onthe tarot: the reversed star is his loss of faith in humanity. the tower is every bad thing that has happened#to him and made him both grow survive and Get More Jaded and Doom-pilled.#and the reversed empress is about his insecurities and living with his dad and uncle in a weird and unhealthy codeoendency for 600 years#also his mania of contr (but also need to be controlled and comforted by his dad and uncle. because he never really grew up.)#joris in waven era is VERY reversed empress with his warcrimes as the ruler of bonta. but even before then he's very reversed empress.#*control. man lotsa typos...

At one point after the storm marcus visits laplace, makes her way to the receptionist's table and sees lucy (looks uncannily like hofmann) and hofmann's manloser brother (also looks like hofmann for obv reasons) talking to each other there and every thread of emotional regulation she's been trying to keep together snaps and then she proceeds to detonate into tears at the sight of them both.
she just misses her mentor man.
#marcus#lucy#enigma#reverse 1999#not tagging hofmann here but she is here in spirit. fly high once again.....#this kinda hits a little more knowing lucy compliments marcus' efforts for figuring out the storm ritual when the rest of laplace is finick#on trusting the info because she's only a rookie investigator. like yeah it kinda goes to shit but.#wait oh my god. if marcus finds out what happens with the storm ritual that poor girl is going straight into another self-loathing spiral o#my fucking god. no god no#i was just gonna make a funny joke but now i just hurt myself. okay

Ok, I'll ask! Since team Sonic all have their traumas, what might be Amy's? Anything to do with some other characters, like Cream or Vanilla, or some new ones per the movies? Thanks, and glad you liked the movie too, IT WAS FREAKING AMAZING!!!! 🖤❤️🖤
Hello @selemercy !! I’m so happy you asked because I’m really excited to dive into what could be the possible horrors and traumas of our little sweet pink hedgehog (and speculate in general about her in the fourth movie) !!!
THIS WILL HAVE SPOILERS TO SONIC 3, PLEASE AVOID IF YOU DON’T SEE IT YET!!! (GO SEE THE MOVIE IS PEAK!)
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
LET’S GO!!!!
First, I will delimit some info. For what we’re seeing in the SCU, the games are the base but not followed step by step, so some modifications can be done. Also, it seems that it’s a game per movie, so Cream and Vanilla wouldn’t be in the movie or barely mentioned. Also using what was seen in the post credit scene.
Ok? Ok.
In the movies, Sonic, Knuckles, Tails and Shadow all have their traumas and heavy backstory that molded them as characters that impact them in all the story. Seeing how this universe is building them so well, I can’t see Amy not receiving a similar development. Because, even loving Amy, I have to admit: she doesn’t have a strong or big backstory for herself. Her own origin was err…kinda cliche, borderlining problematic (for today standards ofc). Sure, she evolved a lot but when we talk about movies, backstory is a huge point. So, a change comes. Let’s see some points.
Sonic 4 will follow probrally loosely the events of Sonic CD. That's my most safe bet. With Metal Sonic involved, I only can see this game as the base. But keep in mind the key-word here: base. The movies give me some strong reasons that Amy’s and backstory will be wildly different, while her personality could have some changes yet, keeping the core of Amy Rose. So, some changes:
Amy will be from the Little Planet. Amy Rose doesn’t have a home, so taking into account Sonic CD, this is what could be a good change, Little Planet can and is inhabited in the games, so can be in the movies too! Is a pretty big one too, because my next bet is…
Amy will find Sonic because she’s the guardian AND holder AND user of the Time Stones! See, remember the whole “find you because fate told me”? Can work with some changes that I will explain later!
Amy will PROTECT Sonic! You hear me right, Amy Rose in the movie universe will be a protector of this boy this time!
With that explained, here my humble takes!
Amy will be a girly girl from the Little Planet, that still with her core traits: optimist, full of unconditional love, kind, hot-tempered, bold, fearless, proactive, energetic and with a huge amount of empathy. She is the girl we already know with an eagerness of adventure and unstoppable drive, great!
To her life before chaos I have two lines:
She has been alone since…always. Sonic had Longclaw, Knuckles his tribe, Tails his village. Amy…had nobody. No origin or family. She grows up as an orphan and with no parental figure. We would see her living in some orphanage or an institution for kids like her. The point is that Amy would not have nobody and this makes a number on her. She wants help and to be there for people so much… because no one ever has been there for her. Would be a great contrast with everyone and Sonic, in particular. She loves the universe so much, yet… with no family or friends. (bonus point if she sees the Wachowski at some point with a found look wishing that she had a family too *cries*)
A bunch of messed up things happened that left her with anyone. Big tragedy here. Amy would have a good family but a disaster out of her control ripped them of her. In this case, the Metal Sonic army (more elaboration later). In this case, she also would lead with grif, but she would feel more the impotence in front of fate and tragedy, and this would mess her up.
Or even can be none of this!
So, Amy Rose is a kind, feisty and lovely girl that lives in her home: Little Planet. She would have some attachment issues, if for the reasons above or other, she would have them (some good material about this here and here). Amy would feel really bad about being alone, left behind and virtually, without anyone in the world, thinking that even longing for bonds, she is always left behind, leading to some issues and a sense of inferiority. Yet, Amy would love everyone and everything, seeing the best in all people and trusting that life can be good. She would be resilient and lovable.
Not only that, maybe because she would be an apprentice of the guardian (like Sonic and Longclaw) or by chance, but Amy also would know where lays the Time Stones. The central piece of her culture and the reason she believes times and fate is the answer to all. You can’t fight destiny, isn’t it?
Well, is all sun and rainbows in her life…
Until the plot happens :D
The Metals Sonic would appear and dominate Little Planet, wanting the Time Stones to reign supreme, destroying all she ever knew. But Amy then got them first to discover a way to fix things and they show how: Metal Sonic can be defeated. What leads to the bad end is Sonic being defeated, so now she has to make sure he's alive. This blue boy became her hope and the girl now has a mission: find and protect Sonic.
Then Amy runs away to Earth at the current timeline with the help of the Stones, at the same age and time as Sonic.
Now, she was truly alone, having to hide from the Metal Army that now made her a target, trying to always do good things to people but never staying for so long. Is dangerous. She is running from a powerful enemy and can’t stay with anyone.
She doesn't know how to find the blue hedgehog either.
The Time Stones would give only some flashes of Sonic and Amy has no courage to use them again, afraid of messing up the only change she has. As she grows up, they'd only give some glimpses of how Sonic is in the moment, and how he spent the most part of his life hiding, would make it pretty hard to find him.
Also would make her basically grow up along him and her only constant in life. In the flashes, Amy would always observe as if he was sad or happy, catch his little mannerisms and the people he sees. She finds him funny, a little lonely, and ultimately a good person. She sees his power and why he is the one who stops those machines. Amy really wants to talk to him.
He's on Earth like her. Is everything she knows.
Meanwhile she trained a lot. Being chased for your whole life teaches some tricks and Amy became very good at being under the radar. She learned how to elude the metal sonics even with the power of the Times Stones buzzing beneath her skin. She learned to fight with the hammer, the only thing she brought with her from home. How to use her chaos energy in her favor.
A warrior made after years.
Is when the things with Shadow and the almost destruction of the Earth gave her the sign she needed and using the Time Stone, finally finds where Sonic would be.
So basically it would be this. Also, imo, Amy's conflict would be that she wants to save everyone from Metal Sonic. But she is also attached to Sonic and after basically growing up with him and seeing him with his family…let's say she doesn't feel exactly comfortable sending him to battle. Maybe also with some visions with him dying in the mix, and a Future that all is okay, but she dies instead and she prefers this than sending her lover one to danger thanks to some sacrificial tendences plus unconditional love PLUS nobody would care because everyone leaves her behind anyway and Sonic had so much to lose.
What would drive him crazy because he may or may not have fallen in love with her (if some media can do Sonamy right is the SCU and they are kinda confirmed to be a point of the movie so…yeah. My take on Sonamy is the old that fate brings us and we're doomed by the narrative. A classic. I could write a post about Sonamy in the SCU context and that could really work!)
Thanks for asking!
#amy rose#sonic the hedgehog#sonic movie 3#sonic 3#sonic the hedgehog 3#sonamy#sonic 3 spoilers#I would die if they give Amy time powers#Like she can see the future because of time stones? I would die on spot!#Her story can be soo good and kinda tragic#Also her relationship with Sonic can be so cute too! People talk about reverse Sonamy but honestly?#I prefer they both low-key obsessed with each other just in a different font#Sonic would be most suave and corny and Amy like confident flirting but don't be fooled!#Both are devoted#And not just romantically but like...yeah that person is my person#I can elaborate later#maybe I write a fic about this#and write a essay

have yuo ever thought about what if aaravi was a merfolk? i think she would be badass.. ((not that she isnt already))
i have, actually! ironically i've even drawn her as a merfolk before, albeit. it's very, very old art... when i was still giving merfolk hair even! this puts it around 3-4 years old, though i did get minorly obsessed with this as an AU when i did.
there's really no way to translate aaravi into a merfolk without making her some variety of low royal bastard. it's technically true with her dad as-is — while it's not nearly the kind of thing that has actual power and weight behind it, he would be considered somewhere in the general realm of courtly nobility for fae (whatever that means for fae, i haven't fully figured it out myself) and this is something that does have a minor influence on aaravi herself. it's far from the only thing giving her issues with authority and especially with nobility, but it certainly doesn't help either.
in this case, aaravi would be considered a hybrid between an abyssal merfolk and a pacific-migratory merfolk. in terms of physical appearance, this is what gives her the reddish-gold coloration. effectively, she got the abyssal pigmentation for red and pink, but with a major diluting effect from the silvery-blue pacific-migratory side, with her patterns and patterning showing up from that side of her genetics. if you swapped out the red pigment for blue here, she'd look a lot closer to a pacific-migratory, and the yellow pigment shows up in both. she has a mild case of gigantism, hence the latter picture here — ironically, she'd be larger than miranda, when it should be the other way around, because miranda's growth was stunted at a young age. otherwise, most of her body shape is closer to a pacific-migratory, with a longer, narrower skull than a full abyssal, and thus is not quite as adept at bone-crushing as someone like miranda.
(miranda should likewise probably be considered partially hybridized herself... but honestly no part of the abyssal population should be considered "full abyssal" anymore either. miranda is pretty close to what a full abyssal should be like, due to various gene treatments involved in her conception, and due to the reigning king being considered just abyssal enough to count, despite the outcrossing in his background — but these are the strains of a population that's wedged itself deeper and deeper into fatal inbreeding and the attempts to both fix that as well as desperately not being willing to let it go. miranda's family tree is a wreathe, to put it lightly.)
in terms of what this means socially: pacific-migratory merfolk are the most common type of merfolk in the capital city and the surrounding area, but they're also pretty widespread in general, being the majority population in things like the great nomadic families and their communities. the organized whale hunts come from these, and they're still the most common merfolk to see involved with them, both serving a spiritual function and managing the whale populations, while also providing whale meat for the rest of the population. they're considered in the realm of middle royals by default within the kingdom, though not all in these communities are, and i see aaravi's mom as having come from one of these groups, not being a middle royal nor a part of that group herself, but in an esteemed position as a whale-hunter.
aaravi's dad, then, would have to come from one of the low royals — not considered part of the royal family itself and thus not a part of the ruling line, but part of the periphery of that, the other Big-Fucking-Deal families surrounding and supporting that rule, those who are inside of the royal courts and those who both marry into the royal family and who get the non-inheriting royal family members when they undoubtedly have to do something else besides wait in the wings. whether or not he was an inheriting member of his family line or not... well, i don't know! it'd matter a lot more if he was, and aaravi's existence would be even more strictly punished if it came out, but there's really no way for her to exist at all without it being something that would cause major issues in the line of inheritance and disgrace for the family lines involved.
royals don't like bastards. i've mentioned this before, but it still rings true. as much as they like to sleep around and reap the rewards of their position and what it allows them to get away with, the family lines themselves originate from miivt'ia groups that only allowed other merfolk to join them if they were born into them, and long-term agreements in the form of "marriages" between them and other groups were used to form political agreements between those groups and ensure those agreements were being held, while also guaranteeing that some members of their family line were being allowed to join another's, thus enabling them to move up. having kids outside of this system starts to pull it into question: should aaravi be considered a part of this family line? what about the fact that she was raised outside of it, by someone else, and thus doesn't meet criteria for an effective member? does this weaken or call into question current agreements between those who have married into this line and the family lines they come from? has the royal in question behaved improperly, by weakening this family line and the responsibilities they should be held to?
royals do not like answering any of these questions. not only does it provide a major weakness for themselves and their own position to be called into question and potentially face consequences for opening their family line up to such doubts, but now the family line itself is in jeopardy, as other royals tangentially or even uninvolved with the creation of a bastard can use it as leverage to further their own goals and agendas. the discovery of a bastard can easily prove to be the last straw in making a complicated web of political maneuvering fail and a family line to be destroyed, so royals are quite invested in making sure no bastards in their line come to exist, destroying any bastards they do find before anyone else can discover them, and discovering the bastards of other families to use as leverage against them.
unfortunately, royals do sleep around a lot. they're merfolk. monogamy isn't really a thing they tend to do, and they're already biased towards multiple partners in a short period of time and a low barrier to having sex at all to encourage community-building and to remove tensions. they're also royals, so they're seldom at want for a lack of partners either, and royals having sex in ways that doesn't weaken their family line isn't really discouraged beyond cases of obligate birth control. it's why miranda being considered a virgin matters — she doesn't have kids and she's never been involved in one of these political "marriages". it doesn't matter if she's had sex before, it's even encouraged due to the political implications of her "performing well", so long as these two criteria are met. as much as it pains the royals, bastards are a lot more common than any of them insist.
so! about that destroying!
when i say royals are determined to destroy any of their bastards they find, i mean that involves killing them as quickly and as quietly as possible. this nearly always means also killing the non-royal communities they were born into, as group parenting occurs not only within the miivt'ia but the miivt'ia adjacent to them, and anyone who might have ever known about the bastard and their birth. information about a dead bastard is nearly as valuable as the bastard themselves, and so royals want a clean slate, to ensure absolutely nothing gets out that this ever happened.
bastards still do occur, of course, and they can even fly under the radar, but the issue then starts to form in the communities they're a part of, and the non-royal part of their inheritance. this salted-earth approach to the finding of any bastard at all puts them in direct danger as well, not least of all because if they knew, they could be considered to be either helping the bastard and working against the royal and the throne at large. although your average merfolk is a lot less... enthusiastic about the royals than the royals themselves would have you believe, this is still the kind of thing that puts them at risk, and thus the kind of thing they very seldom view positively either. they're just as much at risk of entirely shunning any bastard that they find and cutting all contact, pretending they do not exist and never existed, or just outright revealing their existence to the royal in question, in a bid to try and save themselves and limit damage.
it's not a great position to be in! aaravi could have flown under the radar as a grouper-hybrid instead, as grouper merfolk are the closest other species to abyssals and share most of the physical traits of them, that red-gold-pink coloration would absolutely betray her as an abyssal hybrid instead. i never designed salil, but i imagine he would have even more noticeable "tells" as well (though i also never fully worked out what salil's existence would mean in this AU).
hence, while aaravi could get away with repeatedly obscuring and "dyeing" the color of her scales, salil would need more than that, and from the moment they were born, there was no way their mom didn't know exactly what happened and exactly what was at risk. in this AU, i can only imagine she began to isolate even harder than she did as a human and a slayer, being even more insistent that absolutely no one should see either of them without limiting as much contact as possible, and that she's the only one of them who is allowed to meet and talk to other merfolk. while this wouldn't be enough to kill a merfolk from loneliness, it WOULD still have a major impact on their health and very nearly kill them, so aaravi's mom dying of an illness likewise checks out.
it depends from there — ironically i imagine the two siblings going their separate ways from a disagreement in what they should do. aaravi would be more of the type to insist that they can only trust each other and only look after each other, that salil cannot be allowed to be seen by other merfolk without everything falling apart, and wanting to stay together with him in a similar, isolated manner. salil would be more likely to insist on separating, so that if one of them is found out, it'll be harder to find the other, and having safety in being able to each obscure themselves, likely finding the way both his mother and aaravi treated him to be uniquely isolating and punishing and, perhaps, wanting to try his luck elsewhere than to continue to be treated as untouchable. aaravi wouldn't be able to do much to stop salil from leaving, if he feels like she's not listening to him and deciding to go his own way regardless, and she would have to do something to ensure she's not left completely alone in the world, a death sentence for a merfolk.
where her interactions with miranda start varies from this point... aaravi probably would similarly join a group of merfolk living outside of the law, obscuring her identity and her history and her bastard status as much as possible, and it's not unlikely that said community of merfolk might be mercenaries or similar, as she would have fairly applicable talents and they would be more willing to look the other way or not ask questions. miranda does have more dealings with mercenary groups within the merkingdom than she will EVER talk about, and it's possible that they start to interact from here, though again, it varies and i'm less solid on this.
miranda's position in turn, if or when she figures out aaravi's an abyssal hybrid and thus can only be a royal bastard, would be... well. like i said. royals keep making bastards for a reason. being able to bond with anyone outside of the bounds of their title would be tempting enough for anyone, and especially enough to not consider or not care very much about the position that they're putting the other party in. royals also just tend to like "that which they aren't allowed to have", the same as anyone. and miranda, as much as she is normally and as much as she would be in this AU, really would just have a Thing for bastards. they're just her type and they just hit her brain in exactly the right way to make her obsess, and she wouldn't be able to deny that she finds them deeply attractive. she would never admit this, not even to herself, but yeah, the moment this comes out she would start getting the hots for aaravi really bad.
and, honestly, they could likely use this to their advantage? like i said, other royals DO have an investment in finding the royals of other lineages and using them in political maneuvering, and it's pretty hard to get any better than the Crown Princess Herself discovering the bastard of a lesser low royal and deciding to keep her around. it would likewise provide a safer position for aaravi, because, again, Crown Princess Herself, and who is going to challenge her rulings or how she wants to toss around her power? especially since miranda is considered special for multiple reasons inside her title, reasons which aaravi could very much use to her advantage on top of being half abyssal herself.
as for where the rest of this goes, who knows! i never fully developed this AU, and although i do still continually return to it, it's never solidified in my mind as one thing or the other.
#all the care guide says is 'biomass'#asks#felismiscellaneous#miravi.txt#aaravi mishra#monster prom#yeah sure this gets the main tag#enjoy some really long discussion on the aaravi merfolk au#the art is SO old please dont judge it#assuredly this plan will work Not As Well as either of the two think it will. but like. its better than most they have!#dont we all love as i tell on miranda. having the hots for exactly the kinda people she says she hates.#theres a reason shes a reverse monsterfucker. she sees a ''do not touch'' sign and immediately has GOTTA touch.#this also applies to normal aaravi. although miranda will never admit it.#the universal love of bringing home someone your parents would ABSOLUTELY not approve of.

Reverse!Lanterns AU??
The thing with Reverse!Robins is that you could theoretically do it with any hero legacy that has at least three members. It might be a little messier in the cases where mentorship is involved, like in a potential Reverse!Flashes (hahaha) lineup where Wally now comes before Barry, but still doable. With the Earth Green Lanterns at least, that's not a concern since they're all pretty much equals.
So imagine Jo Mullein as Earth's first Green Lantern, recruited by a dying Abin Sur. Since she's filling Hal's role, she'd be the one who was mentored by Sinestro, finds out about Korugar, and takes him down. She becomes the greatest Green Lantern and helps found the Justice League. And she'd also be the one who gets taken over by Parallax and destroys the Corps, before eventually being brought back.
Jessica Cruz is the next one up, and because she's got the position that Guy normally has in history, she narrowly misses being chosen as the first by simply being further away from Abin's crash site. Instead, she takes a power battery explosion to the face and falls into a coma before waking up with a radically different personality and joining the JLI. Perhaps this is the cause of her anxiety struggles in this universe, if the personalities remain the same.
Simon Baz takes John's place. Marries and loses Katma, blows up Xanshi, temporarily becomes a Guardian of the Universe in the whole shebang with Mosaic World, becomes a Darkstar, etc. In the modern day, he's the solid and dependable Green Lantern who leads the Corps through their darkest hours.
Hilariously, because Kyle Rayner sits smack dab in the middle of all this, literally nothing about his story changes aside from it being Jo who becomes Parallax and destroys the Corps. He's still the last Green Lantern, the Torchbearer, Ion, and White Lantern.
John Stewart in this universe is chosen by Jo and Sinestro's combined ring after he's arrested for a crime he didn't actually commit. His introduction to the Corps comes during the weird period in which the Guardians went completely off the rails and tried to zombify all life in the universe.
Guy Gardner gets the dubious honor of being "chosen" as the Power Ring host and having to wield the evil version of the green light before becoming a proper Green Lantern. Shortly thereafter, he gets partnered with John and the two of them are forced to share a power battery for bickering in front of Jo.
And last, we come to Hal Jordan. In this topsy-turvy reality, he's offered a different kind of power ring by a Guardian and sent to the Far Sector to solve the mystery
#kinda ran out of steam at the end there#doesn't help that Jo is still so new and doesn't have many feats that can then go to Hal#writing this made me realize just how much Hal is involved in the others' stories#like yeah I get he's the first but still#reverse robins#except not really#reverse lanterns#jo mullein#jessica cruz#simon baz#kyle rayner#john stewart#guy gardner#hal jordan#green lantern#green lantern corps#justice league#justice league international#dc comics#funnily enough the dcau actually did this first by giving kyle the abin sur origin and then having john be the next GL#alas they didn't keep it going by having guy then hal#and then they skipped Simon in favor of Jessica in the fatal five movie

Godryn felt a strange tremble inside the amulet. Or it was his own hand? Could have sworn that there were voices, but it was hard to understand what they said.
He also remembered, that masked man gave him the same one in the dream few nights ago. It was a type of situation, when Godryn had no idea what to do.
His foresight powers got unusually stronger since arrival to Vvanderfell.
He got too much attention from the people, like they afraid of him.
Masked man actually helping him to understand, who is he really are.
And damn amulet, that was thrown away, because voices are too loud in his head. Because its new question with no answer.
Au, where everything was the same, except Voryn and Nerevar got different endings in the battle of Red Mountain. Godryn Ovathur, the incarnation of Voryn Dagoth, decided to start a new life in Morrowind, a motherland of his ancestors, but he did not expect WHO they were.
•Nerevar being sharmat, but he is not identify himself as god actually, more like being blessed to save people of Morrowind from traitors
•House Dagoth actually awake only because Dagoth' descendants. Its them being capable to spread coprus

look Skypeia is not even close to my favorite arc I honestly felt like it went on for just a little too long. But I can't deny it when Luffy rang that bell and Mont Blanc Cricket looked up in the sky and saw Luffy hitting this pose.
And just allowed himself to finally fully believe int he story he always hoped was true. Because The golden city didnt sink to the bottom of the sea it shot to the top of the sky.
I think about that everyday.
#Truly one of the best emotional arcs not involving a crew member in one piece#Also this pose is kinda similar to luffy's joyboy one which is cute but its more distinctly him#but yeah I know Oda sensei had to go take a walk after he came up with a reverse atlantis and having the city be in the sky#cause if I wrote that i PROMISE YOU NO BUILDING COULD CONTAIN ME#one piece#skypeia#skypiea arc#straw hat pirates#straw hats#monkey d. luffy#mont blanc noland#one piece thoughts#straw hat crew#sthe power of belief man

"Is it hard to play against Brady [Tkachuk]?" "Yeah! Is it ever? You're talking about one of those killers, right? Okay, let's talk about Brady coming down on ya coming to pick up a puck it's—yeah, yeah. He's uh—he's a big boy, and he has absolutely zero regard for your health and safety." "Nope, dudn't care. Hey, when someone like that though—" "And that's... good for him!" "—but when you... when he's coming down on you, are you like, 'I'm gonna spin off of him' or are you like, 'You know what? I'm gonna dig the puck in the corner and I'm gonna put my shoulder right into his chest, and do a reverse hit.' Like, do you think about both of those? Or just like real quick—like, you know, when you reverse hit a guy—" "Yeah..." "—it fucks him! As a forward, man—you reverse hit me? I'm not hitting you again! 'Cuz now I'm fuckin' scared." "Yeah, yeah, I think... I mean, with him it's so important where the puck is and, you know, with guys that size—like, do you really wanna put your shoulder into him in that moment? Like is that gonna hurt you more than it's gonna hurt him? Potentially? I mean I'm more of, like uh, the 'avoid the hit, grab the puck.' You know, 'try and make a play'... Um, but yeah, I think it depends on the game, time of year, where we are, it's all important."

Can we hear more about the King in the reverse isekai au?
Sure thing!! :D
Funnily enough I’ve been slowly working on and off on a silly lil comic including the King from Reverse Entry AU recently. So have a messy concept sketch of what he’ll look like. Before the mumblings under the cut (design will most likely be tweaked later tbh ASFASD)
To talk about the King I also need to talk a tiny bit about this Siffrin’s background, so here is the briefest of rundowns for them first (which will prob get a more elaborate post some other time):
Siffrin’s parents used to run a storefront (refer to first bullet point section in this post).
It was their life’s work and they loved that place dearly, since they built it themselves from the ground up.
However, his parent’s passed when he was 19-20, and that storefront ended up falling into his hands.
They were in college at the time, and ended up switching majors to try to get better know-how in running a business.
But at the end of the day, they had to sell it.
[the above premise was heavily inspired by stuff that happens in a webtoon with the initials GH since it is very near and dear to me actually]
With that established, onto talking about the King in relation to above!
The King was a family friend to Siffrin’s parents.
The wooden crown is actually a gag gift from one of Siffrin’s parents due to “The King” being a nickname for him from college, it’s not actually his name ASFASDA.
(It’s actually too big for his head and sometimes it falls above his eyes actually LMAO)
For a time, he worked underneath the storefront when he was down on his luck, and he is eternally grateful for that.
After he got back up on his feet, he still made sure to visit from time to time, and even helped lead a couple of the crafts sessions the store did.
When Siffrin’s parents passed, he was devastated, since they were close, and had known each other basically forever.
And they had done a lot for him when he needed help as well.
But, at the time he was not in the best position to try and help with the storefront from a financial standpoint.
However, he, alongside a couple of others, did try to volunteer around the storefront to help it stay running for a time (it was well-beloved in the community, after all!)
It just wasn’t enough.
He was one of the few people at the time who was against Siffrin’s decision to sell it off to some random company
(which happened to be the crafts company that Siffrin and the King and literally everyone else now work for now)
Mainly due to knowing what that store meant to Siffrin’s parents / how it helped him when he was at his lowest / overall having lots of good memories tied to it / he didn't want to let one of the last remnants of his friends to be thrown to the wind
And to end this off, some miscellaneous tidbits on the King in the present time of this AU:
The King actually joined the company specifically because it was the one to buy out the Siffrin Family Storefront™ and usurped what they were doing with it
But uh…. he’s like in the IT department?
And has like no real influence on what goes on with whatever acquisitions the company makes
Or what the company does with them LMAO (without it being probably directly illegal)
Best he can do is be a nuisance to those working around it tbh
Like actively slowing down conversations on fully discontinuing the products attached to the storefront to further stretch out its life?
Or being annoying with tech and just? Not being helpful. When people are having system issues that cause delays in work despite being a main contact.
And in general probably being more nosy in places he probably shouldn’t be tbh.
Stuff like that!
There’s a chance that some of this gets tweaked the slightest bit / elaborated more on later since I am always Indecisive, but those are the vibes!
Thanks for asking :D!!! Also again if anyone has any questions on literally anything from this silly AU feel free to ask!!!!!
#reverse entry au#isat modern office au#asks#isat spoilers#<- the literal king#and also tangential relations to discussion of act 3 sorta kinda#better to be safe than sorry!!#fun fact i very briefly entertained giving#giving the king#a limited edition burger king crown as the sentimental item instead#like the halloween one??? that one!!!#and??? he would just wear it to show off that he had it????#ASFASDAS very funny in my mind but doesnt make much sense for this setting#probably better suited for a fast food au tbh#someone PLEASE take that and use it it would be SO FUNNY (at least to me LMAO)#may the king get his limited edition crown and parade it around because he can#um yeah!#tag talk over SAFASFDSAF
