襦 vs 褶衣 Ru vs. Xiyi

Apart from the Ru (襦), the Weijin + Northern/Southern Dynasties also saw another style of upper wear called the Xiyi (褶衣).

I searched for hours how to differentiate Xiyi and Ru, and I'm STILL not quite sure I got it right. The only big difference I noted was that the Ru shirt had the thick piece of fabric right across the waist, whereas Xiyi didn't. But if it's worn tucked under the pants/skirt, I don't really know how you'd be able to tell the difference.

If anyone has more info on the differences between these two please let me know, I'm so confused xD

窄臂大袖 - 襦和褶衣 Slim-arm wide sleeve Ru and Xiyi

I absolutely LOVE the drastic sleeves of this style. The slim, form-fitting upper arm with the sudden widening of the sleeve is gorgeous 😍 The widened collar also gives it a more casual appearance. This period's Hanfu influenced a lot of the later Hanfu style in the Tang Dynasty which was famous for its wide variety of clothing.

@fouryearsofshades kindly informed me that the Xiyi (褶衣) has a fold where the sleeve connects to the body of the clothing, another identifiable difference from the Ru (襦). (Thank you! It's so difficult to tell the details sometimes when just looking at photos 😭😭)

Meet Xiyi, a 200-year old lizardfolk witch. She's been around forever, and she's been Everywhere in Derranu (the world which the campaign takes place in). She's been a wanderer since she was very young, and you can tell - she speaks most languages. She isn't fluent, but she has the gist (she's very smart).

She's not formed the strongest relationships with those around her; the closest she ever got to someone was just over thirty years ago, when she married a budding warlord, Temaralen, from Manai Nutag. Everything was going amazingly, until Xiyi left in the night without warning...

I can't say what she traded in exchange for her powers, since other players will be seeing this, but it has cost her a lot.
