one object beside another, and then another
For several weeks, I homebodied, reading Jack Kerouac and Henry Miller, writers whose lives bore zero comparison with my own. After each day of work, I puttered around. To putter is to potter is to poke around. The words express a mumbling, stumbling failure to get it said or done, “it” being a decisive act, a commitment of desire. My “it” was love in all its facets, and my puttering fell far short of that goal. I seemed unable even to know someone else. And yet. And yet, as an instinctual collector, I knew that putting one object beside another, and then another, would make me feel I was getting closer to the cup. A putter moves the ball just a few inches or feet, but each stroke of the blade is as dear as a tremendous drive. Miller and Kerouac would whack the ball. Collectors putter.

【Antebellum/AMV】Psycho Killer
Happy Independence Day guys!! Hope you all enjoy this!
Like I've said the theme of this amv is probably: humorously(?) compressed simple antebellum history (1812-1861) group portraits into 4 minutes. So most scenes are basically related to historical facts, and the numbers there are the years of the events. However I'm historically illiterate in antebellum era, and this was something I decided to make before I even understood antebellum people lol. I hope there aren't any big mistakes x
While playing this song on repeat it suddenly struck me that everyone in the antebellum era was a god damned Psycho Killer, hence the idea for this group portrait. It's kinda sad that some of the characters I didn't get a chance to draw or that I didn't know enough about them.
If you like this, please tell me your favourite scene and feel free to share any thoughts!!! I want comments so badly😭😭😭I will probably make an explanation of timeline later!!!

My Legendborn Cycle Musings & Theories
Tumblr media
May 2023 is when I first got into this series and I've been hooked ever since. I've read Legendborn and Bloodmarked at least twice and I have some thoughts about the books and series in general. So without further ado:
Spoilers ahead!
First of all, I'm glad I waited to make this post because recently more information has been revealed about the next upcoming book (Oathbound), and that instead of the series being a trilogy of books it'll be a tetralogy (4 part book series).
Oathbound
I strongly believe that the Shadow Court is definitely going to be unleashed that was part of the bargain Bree made with the Shadow King after all.
Vera’s warning to Bree at the end of Bloodmarked: “Chaos thrives on imbalance.” In Oathbound, is Bree going to become villainous or corrupted in some form? Since she doesn’t have her ancestors to balance or influence her since she closed the ancestral stream?
Since the third book is called Oathbound I wonder if this means oaths will be broken or removed. Obviously, Natasia's Kingsmage Oath to Martin Davis had to have been removed. Could the same thing happen possibly between Nick and Sel?
At the end of Bloodmarked, the main trio: Bree, Nick, and Sel have become separated. Since this is Bree's story first and foremost I think the book will still only be from Briana's point of view. I don't think we'll be getting multiple points of view. However, I'm not quite sure.
Selwyn Emrys Kane
There’s more to Selwyn Kane than meets the eye. One of the main themes in the Legendborn Cycle is ancestry and inheritance.
Theory 1: Erebus (the Shadow King) is Selwyn’s father. Erebus is described as a father-like figure towards Sel and he has a history and a clear fondness for Natasia (He knew where she was at the end of Bloodmarked). However, we know that the Order supposedly monitored Natasia closely while they ensured she gave birth to an heir. Obviously, since both her and Sel are powerful Merlins there must be more to discover about their bloodline. Also, it is mentioned how closely Sel resembles Merlin his ancestor not only in appearance but also in mannerisms. Sel is a prodigy and has the rare ability to transform into an Owl like his ancestor Merlin. Not to mention, the skill he used to craft aether constructs to hold Bree together after her injury which isn’t easy to do and most likely would’ve killed other Merlins attempting to do it.
Theory 2: Maybe Selwyn’s bloodline has ancestral ties to someone on the Shadow Court.
Nicholas Martin Davis
He's going to be leading the faction of the Order that's still loyal to the Knights of the Round Table.
Maybe he'll continue to forge a further alliance with the Line of Morgaine. Nick will then be further exposed to how they live and maneuver outside of the Order. He is trying to find a solution to stop the Legendborn Cycle without the Scion of Arthur having to die. In Bloodmarked, he found something out but he didn't get to elaborate on it further.
In General
I think the relationship between Sel and William is underrated.
There’s still much we don’t know about Cambions and unions. So far, we know:
Full Demon + Human = Cambion
Human + Cambion = Cambion
But what about: Full Demon + Cambion = ?
Cambion + Cambion =  ?
Are these unions even possible or allowed and could they produce offspring?
On the cover of Bloodmarked, I think Bree is wearing the outfit that she wore during the Rite of Kings ceremony.
Valechaz is clearly enamored and fascinated with Bree and he's such a wildcard. Valec at times can also be hard to read. Will he be a friend or foe going forward?
This may be an unpopular opinion, but in terms of a TV series adaptation of the Legendborn Cycle, I would prefer that it be an animated TV series rather than a live-action series.

Tina Turner, the iconic singer who was dubbed the "Queen of Rock'n Roll," died on Wednesday, May 24, at the age of 83. Her publicist Bernard Doherty confirmed to PEOPLE that she died in her home near Zurich, Switzerland.
"Tina Turner, the "Queen of Rock'n Roll" has died peacefully today at the age of 83 after a long illness in her home in Küsnacht near Zurich, Switzerland. With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model," Doherty said in a statement. "There will be a private funeral ceremony attended by close friends and family. Please respect the privacy of her family at this difficult time."
As the front-woman for the Ike & Tina Turner Revue, Turner's performance prowess made her and her then-husband Ike Turner one of the most electrifying acts of the 1960s, serving up high octane covers of "Proud Mary," "Come Together," and "I Want to Take You Higher." Turner eventually struck out on her own as a solo artist in the '70s and became a star in the MTV age with hits like "What's Love Got to Do with It," "The Best," and "Private Dancer."

Inside Tina Turner's 37-Year Romance with Erwin Bach
Tina Turner found her king when she met her future second husband Erwin Bach at an airport nearly 40 years ago. The music legend opened up about her romance with Bach, now 67, in her 2021 HBO documentary Tina.
"He was [16 years] younger [than me]. He was 30 years old at the time and had the prettiest face. I mean, you cannot [describe] it. It was like insane. [I thought], 'Where did he come from?' He was really so good-looking. My heart [was beating fast] and it means that a soul has met, and my hands were shaking," Turner recalled in the film.
Inside Tina Turner's Health Struggles
Throughout her longstanding 60-year career, the Queen of Rock was often vocal about her health struggles, which date back to 1978 when she was diagnosed with hypertension.
She detailed the experience in an interview with the European Health Kidney Alliance explaining, "I can’t remember ever getting an explanation about what high blood pressure means or how it affects the body. I considered high blood pressure my normal. Hence, I didn’t really try to control it."
With her condition left untreated, Turner suffered a stroke in 2013 just three weeks after she wed her husband, Erwin Bach. Her health took a turn for the worse again in 2016 when she was diagnosed with intestinal cancer.
After experiencing unpleasant side effects from her initial treatment, Turner turned to homeopathic remedies, which only worsened her condition and led her to have total kidney failure. William Haines and Marion Davies in Show People (King Vidor, 1928)
Cast: Marion Davies, William Haines, Dell Henderson, Paul Ralli, Tenen Holtz, Harry Gribbon, Sidney Bracey, Polly Moran, Albert Conti. Screenplay: Agnes Christine Johnston, Laurence Stallings, Wanda Tuchock; Titles: Ralph Spence. Cinematography: John Arnold. Art direction: Cedric Gibbons. Film editing: Hugh Wynn.
It's a shame that Marion Davies is known today primarily as William Randolph Hearst's mistress, and hence the presumable model for the talentless opera singer Susan Alexander Kane in Citizen Kane (Orson Welles, 1941). For Davies was not only not an opera singer, she was also bursting with talent. King Vidor's Show People demonstrates her skill for comedy, acknowledged as an inspiration by such later glamorous comedians as Carole Lombard and Lucille Ball. Everything Davies could do except talk -- this is one of her last silent films -- is on display, including her skill at slapstick: She does a fine pratfall and takes copious amounts of seltzer in the face. (Hearst reportedly forbade her being the recipient of a custard pie -- that was somehow one shtick beneath her.) She mugs divinely as the comic actress Peggy Pepper who is "promoted" into the serious artiste Patricia Pepoire. Attempting Mae Murray-style bee-stung lips, Davies comes up with a hilariously rabbity moue. The movie also gives us a chance to see William Haines at work. One of the few leading men of the day who dared to lead an almost openly gay life, Haines plays the comic actor who gives Peggy her first break into pictures, loses her when she tries to become a dramatic actress, but of course finally gets her after she sheds the Patricia Pepoire persona. When he was ordered by MGM's bullying Louis B. Mayer to pretend to be straight in his offscreen life, Haines quit pictures and became a successful interior designer; his life partner, Jimmie Shields, became his business partner as well. Ronald and Nancy Reagan were among their clients. Show People also has cameos by Charles Chaplin, Douglas Fairbanks, William S. Hart, and other stars of the day. Peggy Pepper even encounters Marion Davies herself in one scene.
