I think continuity wise Aladdin has the best pay off for their viewers.
First movie[1992]: the main characters meet, fall in love, and get in engaged.
Second movie [1994]: which is more so, why the main gang trust iago after he was a villain in the first movie.
Tv series[1994]: The main couple is engaged the whole time. Three whole seasons!
Third movie[1996]: They finally get married and we get to meet and learn about Aladdin's father.
We get to see the characters we've grown attached to over the years, finally tie the knot and it answers an important character's fact.
Small edit: I meant this post as in Disney Prince continuity not in general of all media, don't come for me. I can't fight.

A whole page of Iago studies/screenshot redraws from 2021. Most were taken from “The Return of Jafar,” which is a fabulous movie if you like this obnoxious loudmouth and inconsistent (but charming) animation!

I think something that makes the Aladdin Sequels and Spinoffs better than other Disney Movie tie-ins is that there's a much stronger continuity than other "secondary" Disney media. This is even present in the Hercules Crossover Episode, which surprisingly makes more references to the sequels and the TV show than the actual movie:
Jafar is dead and complains about his "treacherous parrot", which is a reference to Return of Jafar, music from the TV show is reused and Aladdin's clothes and the fact he and Jasmine are now married is a reference to the King of Thieves.
Sadly, Disney only tends to reference the "main films" nowadays, if Princess Jasmine were to have a cameo in a TV show, then you can expect her to only reference events from the first movie, if at all.

30th Anniversary of The Return of Jafar
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Return of Jafar was the first of MANY direct-to-video Disney sequels. Like with the original Aladdin, I watched RoJ a lot as a kid. While it doesn’t hold up as well anymore (the 3rd movie is significantly better), I still have a soft spot for it. Even though the film is not as ambitious as the original (the first Aladdin’s budget was $28 million vs. RoJ’s $5 million), it was nice to see Iago have his own redemption arc which for the most part was pretty well done. The Return of Jafar became one of the best selling VHS tapes of all time and paved the way for the direct-to-video market not only for Disney, but for other studios as well, because later that same year Universal Studios released The Land Before Time II: The Great Valley Adventure, which was the first of MANY Land Before Time sequels. The Return of Jafar was also a pilot for the upcoming Aladdin tv series which premiered on the Disney Afternoon block later that year, similar to how some of the previous Disney Afternoon shows had multi-episode pilots (except this time it was straight to video, but there are a few obvious moments that you could tell where the commercial breaks were supposed to be).
