I can’t be the only person who loved the WhoDonut episode in S1, right?
It’s just so funny to me that Wakko’s stomach is just such a black hole that he can’t tell he ate in his sleep. And then instead of yelling for his siblings to wake up or even try to figure out what happened himself, he just. screams. At the top of his lungs.

What are some Animaniacs episodes from both the original and the reboot you would recommend to newcomers (like me)?
Thank you for your question!
Well, there’s the first episodes of each series, of course (btw although it is the longer show I’d suggest starting with the original before the reboot considering the reboot is really more of a sequel series).
But if you want less obvious options, I would suggest;
For 1993:
The Warners’ 65th Anniversary Special (Episode 65)
Yakko's World/Cookies for Einstein/Win Big (Episode 2)
HMS Yakko; Slappy Goes Walnuts; Yakko's Universe (Episode 3)
Taming of the Screwy (Episode 5)
Piano Rag / When Rita Met Run (Episode 7)
King Yakko (Episode 10)
Bonus segments: I’m Cute, Potty Emergency, Bumbie’s Mom, Bubba Bo Bob Brain, Smitten with Kittens
The idea of the list is that I’m recommending episodes that I think are good introductions to Animaniacs in general, not just my favourites. These episodes/segments either cover the Warners’ origin, serve as good introductions to what I believe are the best segments of the show besides the Warners, provide a good idea of what Animaniacs’ music is like, or is a good showcase of one/all of the Warners’ personalities and what they do.
For 2020:
Gold Meddlers/Pinko and the Brain/Math-Terpiece Theater: Apples (Episode 3)
Warner She Wrote; France France Revolution; Gift Rapper (Episode 7)
WhoDonut; Mousechurian Candidate; Starbox and Cindy (Episode 8)
Here Comes Treble; That's Not the Issue; Future Brain; The Incredible Gnome in People's Mouths (Episode 9)
Phantomaniacs; Fear and Laughter in Burbank; Bride of Pinky; Things That Go Bump in the Night (Episode 11)
Rome Sweet Rome/Backwards Pinky/Wakko's Short Shorts: Now Loading (Episode 14)
Bonus segments: Suffragette City, Ralph Cam, Roadent Trip, The Cutening, A Zit!, Yakko’s Big Idea
Again, the idea is that I think these episodes/segments are a good introduction to show’s characters and characterisations, songs, tone, etc. So nothing too continuity dependent, and nothing too far into the run (even though I really like a lot of season 3).
If you’d rather have a list of my favourite episodes and segments rather than the ones I think are good introductions, I made a post about them here.
If you do check these out, I hope you like what you see!

Part 19 of The Warners Are Puppies And Here’s Why!
We have alot going on in the episode WhoDonut. The first thing we see is a sleeping Dot’s ear perking up as she hears Wakko screaming.
Tumblr media
The we get to see Wakko’s fangs the whole time he’s screaming his head off.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then we see both his and Yakko’s fangs as he’s cringing at Wakko’s loud screaming and putting his hands over his sensitive ears.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wakko then reveals that he’s crying/screaming because someone stole/ate his donuts. We can see his fangs as he talks and he’s making sad puppy eyes the whole time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We can still see his sad puppy eyes as Yakko goes to inspect the donut box and then asks Wakko if the donuts were “Designer Donuts.” You’ll notice that Yakko makes puppy eyes when he says Designer Donuts.”
Tumblr media
Wakko is still making sad puppy eyes as he nods yes.
Tumblr media
Dot then decides to investigate and look for clues and you can see her fangs as she talks.
Tumblr media
After concluding that the donuts were eaten recently Wakko suddenly accuses Yakko and Dot of eating them and you can see his fangs as he talks.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After they state they had alibis Wakko then states he’ll turn the face of who ever stole/ate his donuts into Mashed Potatoes With Gravy. He makes sad puppy eyes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Suddenly he remembers that Mashed Potatoes With Gravy was one of the flavors. We see his fangs as he talks and he makes sad puppy eyes again before starting to cry. You see Yakko’s fangs as he gets uncomfortable and cringes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As Dot reassures Wakko that they’ll find who took stole/ate his donuts,he makes and adorable happy face and you can see his fangs.
Tumblr media
A few minutes later Yakko makes this joke “Well, well, well, looks like we have a real whodonut on our hands.” we see his fangs as he talks.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A few minutes later Dot and Wakko decide they need to make a list of suspects. Then you can see Dot’s fangs as she spots an ant with a crumb.
Tumblr media
Wakko quickly decides to follow the ant, getting down on all fours and sniffing the ground as he follows it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As this is happening Yakko decides too make a few ANT puns, getting zapped by Dot with a PUN GUN a bunch of times you can see her fangs each time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The last time Yakko gets zapped with the PUN GUN he “dies” and Dot zaps his spirit back into his body. You can see Yakko’s fangs as he “dies”.
Tumblr media
This post needs to be split into two...sooo...I hope you enjoy part 1 of part 19 of my The Warners Are Puppies And Here’s Why! series.

musing over a concept where Olaf would be a better fit for the initial relationship with Esmé over Jerome (don’t worry it gets sapphic) but. Olaf is way worse than Jerome to me. so no

Autistic Wakko Headcanons
Since someone asked...
Very emotional, is quick to laugh and quick to cry
His hat is his comfort item, as he’s never seen without it. Sometimes he gets very distressed and upset whenever he doesn’t have it or can’t find it
He is the most sensitive out of the Warners and often takes things very seriously
Usually very calm and collected but has his moments; his meltdowns involve uncontrollable crying fits, ear tugging, lip chewing or panic attacks
He’s got sensory issues, so tags on clothing are the bane of his existence. That’s why he finds his sweater incredibly comfy since it doesn’t have any tags and he never has to worry about them
You know how he always his tongue hanging out as a form of stimming? Not only that, but he also wags his tail or flaps his hands sometimes so hard that he starts to fly away and Yakko has to hold him down by his ankle. Tail wagging, hand flapping, jumping up and down while tugging on his ears excitedly (as seen in “Ups and Downs”) or running around on all fours like a puppy (as seen in “WhoDonut”) are some forms of happy stimming
He really doesn’t understand social cues and has difficulty in social situations
Doesn’t really feel the need to talk unless he has something to say
Incredibly passionate about a lot of things! He’s the kind of person that hops from one special interest after another. His favorite actor is none other than Don Knotts, his most enduring and prominent interest
He has a bit of an interest with puppetry
Geography is another one of Wakko’s interests and one he really loves, as seen in “Wakko’s America”

THEORY: YAKKO HATES ANIMANIACS
Old evidence:
"We're the Warner Brothers!"
"Like the studio?"
"Not very much but we don't have a choice. "
"I've got a headache THIS big and it's got Warner Brothers written all over it."
"You call the dreck they stick us with writing? Please."
New evidence:
Yakko's the one that instigated the Reboot It song which was quite cynical
Yakko keeps delivering lines with an angry edge to his tone that we've never heard from him before.
Examples:
Warner she wrote: Yeah, that's how they make cartoons in 2020 (yeah he softened it with a slapstick dance but listen to the tone in his voice. It's SUPER bitter. Also his comment about 'contemplating the brief nature of his existence'
Whodonut: yelling at the camera man and calling him stupid, same hard tone of voice. Also they never used to yell at the show staff.
Hindenburg cola: "Hey! Zack Schneider!" Listen to his tone of voice there and look at how his expression changes. He smiles but it's like a second too late and ends up looking super deliberate and forced. He's done that one other time but I forget where, but it was the same thing where the smile came just a second too late which made it look fake.
France France Revolution: He was taking way too much delight in tormenting Marie about her upcoming execution. It was super dark coming from someone like Yakko. It was like he was letting something out of himself that had gotten pent up. He was really mean spirited and smug in that scene.
He's less energetic and allows Dot to take command a lot of the time. Like he's just less invested this time around.
Conclusion:
Yakko hates the show. Maybe it's the writing, maybe they were forced into it, or promised things they weren't given, but they're now stuck and can't escape and he's not hiding his bitterness very well.
Thoughts?

Anyone notice in 'Warner She Wrote', Dot and Wakko have no trouble sleeping once they have some white noise to listen to. Yakko, on the other hand, is awake all night.
Not to mention in 'WhoDonut', Yakko is awake and alert in two seconds after Dot hit the side of the bed
Tumblr media
Gonna go ahead and suggest this boy does not sleep. Do with this information what you will.

Wakko Warner (Acrylic Painting)
Tumblr media
I've done some acrylic paintings before but this is my first official time I created a painting with acrylic paints. Here is Wakko Warner from the Animaniacs Reboot Episode Whodonut.
FYI, I can't believe I made the reboot skin color accurate.

What bothers me the most about the Animaniacs reboot is how... under-utilized the concept is?? Like... it's about 3 cartoon characters that were so chaotic and insane that they were locked away!! In most of the reboot the Warners are just mildly annoying at worst, and that's being generous. There's very distinct lack of visual gags, violence and broken physics in these episodes which have been replaced by more cynical humour as well as gross-outs.
Another thing I noticed is that they don't really do much to the people they're tormenting, and instead often leave it to other forces to teach the villain a lesson. This can be seen in Warners Unbound, Bun Control, Good Warner Hunting, France France Revolution, Manny Manspreader, and Anima-nyet. In fact, I can really only think of 4 ish shorts that they do it themselves which are the Nicklewise ep, WhoDonut (Ralph didn't deserve it though), Hildenburg Cola, and Here Comes Treble.
This is really bothersome especially since they're REALITY-BENDING TRICKSTER BEINGS who can literally do ANYTHING as long as it's funny. So why don't the episodes use that?
Also, the other characters barely react to them either!! The new CEO just ignores them, Ralph barely chases them, and Scratchy is just tired of them. Where's the fear, the confusion, the anger?? They're LIVING CARTOONS. Living cartoons who extremely powerful and destructive! Where has that energy gone??

That moment in Whodonut where Yakko interrupts the Animaniacs intro is just making me picture him yelling at an offscreen Fred Jones who’s just defensively going ‘Okay, fine! And I’m not dumb...” and meanwhile the rest of the Scooby gang is pointedly looking away and whistling cause they know Fred is a massive fucking idiot XD
