#Where to invest for beginners? Investment for beginners

as someone who works in investment finance this is all very correct but I DO want to expand on a point you made. I totally understand the simplification there for a finance beginner - it does totally make sense to just think of 401k contributions as the same thing as investing your money in bonds or an index fund. However, a 401k is NOT a type of index fund! It is a type of retirement account that lets you avoid paying taxes on any money you put in. It acts more like a big wallet to hold your index funds and other investments in. It's easy to get confused about that because normally the money you put into your 401k will be automatically invested in an index fund for you, but the 401k is just the bucket the investment is happening in. This can be really important because 1. a lot of people don't realize they can PICK what their 401k is invested in, and 2. a 401k is an employer plan, so if you ever leave your job or decide to save for retirement outside of your job, you will probably be putting your money in an Individual Retirement Account (IRA.) AN IRA DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY INVEST. You have to go in and manually put the money in your IRA into an index fund or else it will just be sitting in cash and not earning you money.
(because I'm on the topic - the difference there can be HUGE. If you're sitting here thinking "ew stonks, that's too risky, I'll just keep my money in a nice safe savings account," you might want to think about the risks a little differently. If you're invested in an S&P 500 index fund (which is one of the most common ones), the historical inflation-adjusted return on that is about 7% per year. At 7% per year, you will have DOUBLED your money in 10 years. If you invest $10,000 in 2025, you would have $20,000 in today's dollars in 2035 without putting ANY more money in. If you keep it in cash earning 0 interest, you will LOSE money. That's because inflation will steal the value of your dollars. At the current rate of about 2.85% inflation per year, you would go from having $10,000 in today's dollars in 2025 to $7,500 in today's dollars in 2035. With the index fund, you have market risk, where the stock market could go down in value and you could lose money that way, but in cash you have inflation risk, and will almost definitely lose at least some of your money.)
Generally speaking, here are the order of financial priorities:
Build an emergency savings of at least 3 months worth of living expenses
Pay down all high-interest debts, such as credit card debts
Build an emergency savings of 6 months - year worth of expenses.
Place some of your savings in a high-yield savings account (or money market fund) that you can still access easily without penalty if you need that money.
Start considering investing in something that yields a higher rate of return, but requires that you let money just *sit* in that investment for months or years at a time (CDs/bonds/index funds/a 401k [which is really just a type of index fund usually]).
Learn how to let your investments just sit without constantly looking at them or worrying about them! This is a skill that requires time, practice, and sometimes research to develop.
As your circumstances change and your familiarity and comfort with investing grows, tweak your exact investment strategy as needed. (For example, shift some money from index funds to bonds as you get older, or move CD investments to stocks as interest rates go down).
#finance#financial education#unironically passionate about this and yes my socialist credentials are in dire shape#the stock market shouldnt exist but as long as it does you need to know how to navigate it

Where to Invest I Index Funds I Beginners Guide
Where to Invest for Beginners? How to get started with investment? Is it good to invest in Index Funds? Let's answer these question in this video below.
Diversification is a key element of a balanced portfolio. There is a plethora of investment options to choose from and it is a good practice to invest your funds across different asset classes. An Index fund is like a mutual fund and exactly imitates an index (e.g., Nifty 50, Bank Nifty, Nifty Midcap, etc.). It thus helps in diversifying your investment and mitigates the risk of your equity portfolio.

Cringe warning: very bad Esperanto.
Lerni sentas malgxuste.)
Sed, mi restis kun la Esperanto(n?) čar gxi estas facila. Mi volas lerni lingvon por la sakeo (that’s… is that seriously the word? Sakeo? I joked once that Esperanto is 80% English words with -o and the end and 15% other languages with o- at the end, but I digress) de lerni lingvon. Homoj diras ke tio estas malbono kialo, sed, kial? Estas amuza… ne estas krimo amuziĝi.
Honeste, mi estis (estis for ‘have been?’ doesn’t feel right…) uzi Google Translate por helpi min, sed ne por lambastono. nur por kontroli se mia gramatiko estas bona.
Cerba furzo? (Googling how to stutter in Esperanto. Great.) (also I’m realising I said bonvolu instead of… oh my god? Am I seriously forgetting hello? Oh, Saluton!)
Edit: after writing this post, I got an easy, actually video about languages recommended… lol
#lemons random rants#Esperanto#conlang#conlangblr#did I mention I want to learn Toki Pona too#anyway- point is with this post- it’s hard to immerse yourself in a conlang#because podcasts in Esperanto tend to be about Esperanto- for example#I dunno.#4-5 years and I still suck#yeah I know doing one duolingo lesson a day is probably why- but you’d think I’d be somewhat good after 4-5 years#I can read basic paragraphs in Esperanto but some words fly over my head.#I could probably read and understand ‘there was a fruit that was very yellow and juicy’ but could I write that sentence? er… unlikely#I also get tio/tiu and all that jazz mixed up#same with mia/miaj/miajn and all that.#I guess it’s kinda intuitive. sometimes I look at something and think ‘this doesn’t feel right.’#I have the same problem with art where I got really discouraged because people assume I’m a beginner#I’ve done art on and off since 2018. even before that I drew a lot in 2017 and 2016.#I’m just not that good.#same with languages.#sometimes I wanna learn music too.#but I make something super generic and repetitive. and give up. because I don’t know how to structure a song.#my instinct is to just add more and more but never change the er- core… melody?#this post took 20 minutes I could’ve been working on my writing or something.#it’s not laziness. I work really hard at my writing. I just struggle to invest time in anything else because… I’m not a natural at it. also#it strangely feels like slacking off when I do anything other than write#edit or proofreading#also I’ve technically cleared the entire Esperanto course on duolingo like five times#I like skipping to all the ‘big tests’ sometimes where they don’t give hints and they’re very long#as for my Toki Pona? Even worse! I know a lot of the words but not how to structure it. suli. laso. mi. jan. a. awesi(?). kulupu. ⭐ So you want to learn pixel art? ⭐
🔹 Part 1 of ??? - The Basics!
Hello, my name is Tofu and I'm a professional pixel artist. I have been supporting myself with freelance pixel art since 2020, when I was let go from my job during the pandemic.
My progress, from 2017 to 2024. IMO the only thing that really matters is time and effort, not some kind of natural talent for art.
This guide will not be comprehensive, as nobody should be expected to read allat. Instead I will lean heavily on my own experience, and share what worked for me, so take everything with a grain of salt. This is a guide, not a tutorial. Cheers!
🔹 Do I need money?
NO!!! Pixel art is one of the most accessible mediums out there.
I still use a mouse because I prefer it to a tablet! You won't be at any disadvantage here if you can't afford the best hardware or software.
Because our canvases are typically very small, you don't need a good PC to run a good brush engine or anything like that.
✨Did you know? One of the most skilled and beloved pixel artists uses MS PAINT! Wow!!
🔹 What software should I use?
Here are some of the most popular programs I see my friends and peers using. Stars show how much I recommend the software for beginners! ⭐
💰 Paid options:
⭐⭐⭐ Aseprite (for PC) - $19.99
This is what I and many other pixel artists use. You may find when applying to jobs that they require some knowledge of Aseprite. Since it has become so popular, companies like that you can swap raw files between artists.
Aseprite is amazingly customizable, with custom skins, scripts and extensions on Itch.io, both free and paid.
If you have ever used any art software before, it has most of the same features and should feel fairly familiar to use. It features a robust animation suite and a tilemap feature, which have saved me thousands of hours of labour in my work. The software is also being updated all the time, and the developers listen to the users. I really recommend Aseprite!
⭐ Photoshop (for PC) - Monthly $$
A decent option for those who already are used to the PS interface. Requires some setup to get it ready for pixel-perfect art, but there are plenty of tutorials for doing so.
Animation is also much more tedious on PS which you may want to consider before investing time!
⭐⭐ ProMotion NG (for PC) - $19.00
An advanced and powerful software which has many features Aseprite does not, including Colour Cycling and animated tiles.
⭐⭐⭐ Pixquare (for iOS) - $7.99 - $19.99 (30% off with code 'tofu'!!)
Probably the best app available for iPad users, in active development, with new features added all the time.
Look! My buddy Jon recommends it highly, and uses it often.
One cool thing about Pixquare is that it takes Aseprite raw files! Many of my friends use it to work on the same project, both in their office and on the go.
⭐ Procreate (for iOS) - $12.99
If you have access to Procreate already, it's a decent option to get used to doing pixel art. It does however require some setup. Artist Pixebo is famously using Procreate, and they have tutorials of their own if you want to learn.
⭐⭐ ReSprite iOS and Android. (free trial, but:) $19.99 premium or $$ monthly
ReSprite is VERY similar in terms of UI to Aseprite, so I can recommend it. They just launched their Android release!
🆓 Free options:
⭐⭐⭐ Libresprite (for PC)
Libresprite is an alternative to Aseprite. It is very, very similar, to the point where documentation for Aseprite will be helpful to Libresprite users.
⭐⭐ Pixilart (for PC and mobile)
A free in-browser app, and also a mobile app! It is tied to the website Pixilart, where artists upload and share their work. A good option for those also looking to get involved in a community.
⭐⭐ Dotpict (for mobile)
Dotpict is similar to Pixilart, with a mobile app tied to a website, but it's a Japanese service. Did you know that in Japanese, pixel art is called 'Dot Art'? Dotpict can be a great way to connect with a different community of pixel artists! They also have prompts and challenges often.
🔹 So I got my software, now what?
◽Nice! Now it's time for the basics of pixel art.
❗ WAIT ❗ Before this section, I want to add a little disclaimer. All of these rules/guidelines can be broken at will, and some 'no-nos' can look amazing when done intentionally.
The pixel-art fundamentals can be exceedingly helpful to new artists, who may feel lost or overwhelmed by choice. But if you feel they restrict you too harshly, don't force yourself! At the end of the day it's your art, and you shouldn't try to contort yourself into what people think a pixel artist 'should be'. What matters is your own artistic expression. 💕👍
◽Phew! With that out of the way...
🔸"The Rules"
There are few hard 'rules' of pixel art, mostly about scaling and exporting. Some of these things will frequently trip up newbies if they aren't aware, and are easy to overlook.
🔹Scaling method
There are a couple ways of scaling your art. The default in most art programs, and the entire internet, is Bi-linear scaling, which usually works out fine for most purposes. But as pixel artists, we need a different method.
Both are scaled up x10. See the difference?
On the left is scaled using Bilinear, and on the right is using Nearest-Neighbor. We love seeing those pixels stay crisp and clean, so we use nearest-neighbor.
(Most pixel-art programs have nearest-neighbor enabled by default! So this may not apply to you, but it's important to know.)
🔹Mixels
Mixels are when there are different (mixed) pixel sizes in the same image.
Here I have scaled up my art- the left is 200%, and the right is 150%. Yuck!
As we can see, the "pixel" sizes end up different. We generally try to scale our work by multiples of 100 - 200%, 300% etc. rather than 150%. At larger scales however, the minute differences in pixel sizes are hardly noticeable!
Mixels are also sometimes seen when an artist scales up their work, then continues drawing on it with a 1 pixel brush.
Many would say that this is not great looking! This type of pixels can be indicative of a beginner artist. But there are plenty of creative pixel artists out there who mixels intentionally, making something modern and cool.
🔹Saving Your Files
We usually save our still images as .PNGs as they don’t create any JPEG artifacts or loss of quality. It's a little hard to see here, but there are some artifacts, and it looks a little blurry. It also makes the art very hard to work with if we are importing a JPEG.
For animations .GIF is good, but be careful of the 256 colour limit. Try to avoid using too many blending mode layers or gradients when working with animations. If you aren’t careful, your animation could flash afterwards, as the .GIF tries to reduce colours wherever it can. It doesn’t look great!
Here's an old piece from 2021 where I experienced .GIF lossiness, because I used gradients and transparency, resulting in way too many colours.
🔹Pixel Art Fundamentals - Techniques and Jargon
❗❗Confused about Jaggies? Anti-Aliasing? Banding? Dithering? THIS THREAD is for you❗❗ << it's a link, click it!!
As far as I'm concerned, this is THE tutorial of all time for understanding pixel art. These are techniques created and named by the community of people who actually put the list together, some of the best pixel artists alive currently. Please read it!!
🔸How To Learn
Okay, so you have your software, and you're all ready to start. But maybe you need some more guidance? Try these tutorials and resources! It can be helpful to work along with a tutorial until you build your confidence up.
⭐⭐ Pixel Logic (A Digital Book) - $10 A very comprehensive visual guide book by a very skilled and established artist in the industry. I own a copy myself.
⭐⭐⭐ StudioMiniBoss - free A collection of visual tutorials, by the artist that worked on Celeste! When starting out, if I got stuck, I would go and scour his tutorials and see how he did it.
⭐ Lospec Tutorials - free A very large collection of various tutorials from all over the internet. There is a lot to sift through here if you have the time.
⭐⭐⭐ Cyangmou's Tutorials - free (tipping optional) Cyangmou is one of the most respected and accomplished modern pixel artists, and he has amassed a HUGE collection of free and incredibly well-educated visual tutorials. He also hosts an educational stream every week on Twitch called 'pixelart for beginners'.
⭐⭐⭐ Youtube Tutorials - free There are hundreds, if not thousands of tutorials on YouTube, but it can be tricky to find the good ones. My personal recommendations are MortMort, Brandon, and AdamCYounis- these guys really know what they're talking about!
🔸 How to choose a canvas size
When looking at pixel art turorials, we may see people suggest things like 16x16, 32x32 and 64x64. These are standard sizes for pixel art games with tiles. However, if you're just making a drawing, you don't necessarily need to use a standard canvas size like that.
What I like to think about when choosing a canvas size for my illustrations is 'what features do I think it is important to represent?' And make my canvas as small as possible, while still leaving room for my most important elements.
Imagine I have characters in a scene like this:
I made my canvas as small as possible (232 x 314), but just big enough to represent the features and have them be recognizable (it's Good Omens fanart 😤)!! If I had made it any bigger, I would be working on it for ever, due to how much more foliage I would have to render.
If you want to do an illustration and you're not sure, just start at somewhere around 100x100 - 200x200 and go from there.
It's perfectly okay to crop your canvas, or scale it up, or crunch your art down at any point if you think you need a different size. I do it all the time! It only takes a bit of cleanup to get you back to where you were.
🔸Where To Post
Outside of just regular socials, Twitter, Tumblr, Deviantart, Instagram etc, there are a few places that lean more towards pixel art that you might not have heard of.
⭐ Lospec Lospec is a low-res focused art website. Some pieces get given a 'monthly masterpiece' award. Not incredibly active, but I believe there are more features being added often.
⭐⭐ Pixilart Pixilart is a very popular pixel art community, with an app tied to it. The community tends to lean on the young side, so this is a low-pressure place to post with an relaxed vibe.
⭐⭐ Pixeljoint Pixeljoint is one of the big, old-school pixel art websites. You can only upload your art unscaled (1x) because there is a built-in zoom viewer. It has a bit of a reputation for being elitist (back in the 00s it was), but in my experience it's not like that any more. This is a fine place for a pixel artist to post if they are really interested in learning, and the history. The Hall of Fame has some of the most famous / impressive pixel art pieces that paved the way for the work we are doing today.
⭐⭐⭐ Cafe Dot Cafe Dot is my art server so I'm a little biased here. 🍵 It was created during the recent social media turbulence. We wanted a place to post art with no algorithms, and no NFT or AI chuds. We have a heavy no-self-promotion rule, and are more interested in community than skill or exclusivity. The other thing is that we have some kind of verification system- you must apply to be a Creator before you can post in the Art feed, or use voice. This helps combat the people who just want to self-promo and dip, or cause trouble, as well as weed out AI/NFT people. Until then, you are still welcome to post in any of the threads or channels. There is a lot to do in Cafe Dot. I host events weekly, so check the threads!
⭐⭐/r/pixelart The pixel art subreddit is pretty active! I've also heard some of my friends found work through posting here, so it's worth a try if you're looking. However, it is still Reddit- so if you're sensitive to rude people, or criticism you didn't ask for, you may want to avoid this one. Lol
🔸 Where To Find Work
You need money? I got you! As someone who mostly gets scouted on social media, I can share a few tips with you:
Put your email / portfolio in your bio Recruiters don't have all that much time to find artists, make it as easy as possible for someone to find your important information!
Clean up your profile If your profile feed is all full of memes, most people will just tab out rather than sift through. Doesn't apply as much to Tumblr if you have an art tag people can look at.
Post regularly, and repost Activity beats everything in the social media game. It's like rolling the dice, and the more you post the more chances you have. You have to have no shame, it's all business baby
Outside of just posting regularly and hoping people reach out to you, it can be hard to know where to look. Here are a few places you can sign up to and post around on.
/r/INAT INAT (I Need A Team) is a subreddit for finding a team to work with. You can post your portfolio here, or browse for people who need artists.
/r/GameDevClassifieds Same as above, but specifically for game-related projects.
Remote Game Jobs / Work With Indies Like Indeed but for game jobs. Browse them often, or get email notifications.
VGen VGen is a website specifically for commissions. You need a code from another verified artist before you can upgrade your account and sell, so ask around on social media or ask your friends. Once your account is upgraded, you can make a 'menu' of services people can purchase, and they send you an offer which you are able to accept, decline, or counter.
The evil websites of doom: Fiverr and Upwork I don't recommend them!! They take a big cut of your profit, and the sites are teeming with NFT and AI people hoping to make a quick buck. The site is also extremely oversaturated and competitive, resulting in a race to the bottom (the cheapest, the fastest, doing the most for the least). Imagine the kind of clients who go to these websites, looking for the cheapest option. But if you're really desperate...
🔸 Community
I do really recommend getting involved in a community. Finding like-minded friends can help you stay motivated to keep drawing. One day, those friends you met when you were just starting out may become your peers in the industry. Making friends is a game changer!
Discord servers Nowadays, the forums of old are mostly abandoned, and people split off into many different servers. Cafe Dot, Pixel Art Discord (PAD), and if you can stomach scrolling past all the AI slop, you can browse Discord servers here.
Twitch Streams Twitch has kind of a bad reputation for being home to some of the more edgy gamers online, but the pixel art community is extremely welcoming and inclusive. Some of the people I met on Twitch are my friends to this day, and we've even worked together on different projects! Browse pixel art streams here, or follow some I recommend: NickWoz, JDZombi, CupOhJoe, GrayLure, LumpyTouch, FrankiePixelShow, MortMort, Sodor, NateyCakes, NyuraKim, ShinySeabass, I could go on for ever really... There are a lot of good eggs on Pixel Art Twitch.
🔸 Other Helpful Websites
Palettes Lospec has a huge collection of user-made palettes, for any artist who has trouble choosing their colours, or just wants to try something fun. Rejected Palettes is full of palettes that didn't quite make it onto Lospec, ran by people who believe there are no bad colours.
The Spriters Resource TSR is an incredible website where users can upload spritesheets and tilesets from games. You can browse for your favourite childhood game, and see how they made it! This website has helped me so much in understanding how game assets come together in a scene.
VGMaps Similar to the above, except there are entire maps laid out how they would be played. This is incredible if you have to do level design, or for mocking up a scene for fun.
Game UI Database Not pixel-art specific, but UI is a very challenging part of graphics, so this site can be a game-changer for finding good references!
Retronator A digital newspaper for pixel-art lovers! New game releases, tutorials, and artworks!
Itch.io A website where people can upload, games, assets, tools... An amazing hub for game devs and game fans alike. A few of my favourite tools: Tiled, PICO-8, Pixel Composer, Juice FX, Magic Pencil for Aseprite
🔸 The End?
This is just part 1 for now, so please drop me a follow to see any more guides I release in the future. I plan on doing some writeups on how I choose colours, how to practise, and more!
I'm not an expert by any means, but everything I did to get to where I am is outlined in this guide. Pixel art is my passion, my job and my hobby! I want pixel art to be recognized everywhere as an art-form, a medium of its own outside of game-art or computer graphics!
This guide took me a long time, and took a lot of research and experience. Consider following me or supporting me if you are feeling generous.
And good luck to all the fledgling pixel artists, I hope you'll continue and have fun. I hope my guide helped you, and don't hesitate to send me an ask if you have any questions! 💕

Yes! I feel like my hesitance here in like, fully endorsing this is because for an OTT coord you need to own a lot more stuff- not just a regular dress/blouse/socks/headbow but they all need to be OTT versions, and you’re going to want extra jewelry, hair accessories, OTT shoes and bag that match your coord, maybe a parasol- which is a lot of things for someone who’s new to lolita to acquire! But if you have another lolita helping it’s much easier, and if it’s the style you love then there’s nothing wrong with that.
OTT isn’t an ‘experienced lolitas only’ style (and casual lolita isn’t just for newbies either, a lot of lifestylers and people who have been in the community a while wear their lolita casually) it’s just a lot easier to put together an OTT coord when you’ve been collecting accessories for years v. having to buy everything at once (assuming you’re purchasing everything, versus getting dressed out of your friend’s closet).
Would it be okay if a beginners first coord was an OTT hime/sweet style? If said beginner was getting extensive help and advice from an experienced Lolita?
Your first coord can be whatever style you want it to be. There’s no rule that says your first coord has to be simple, that’s just a bit of advice that I might normally suggest just to make getting starting a little bit easier. If you feel confident in your ability to make an OTT sweet or hime coord that you’ll love and feel cute in right out of the gate, that’s awesome and you should go ahead and do that.
#but if you know where/what to buy it’s fine#you are going to end up shelling out more money unless you’re DIY-ing some stuff but even then#ott is just more expensive#so I would not make the big investment unless you’re sure you want to do lolita#or your friend is willing to buy stuff off of you if you end up not liking it#OTT sweet is also going to be the most ‘noticeable’ style and you’re going to get a lot more comments/attention from people#which is harder to deal with as a beginner!#but you’re 1000% ‘allowed’#it’s just not recommended because it’s harder#and if it turns out to be too much that’s fine! you can try just a regular or casual coord and it’s not a failure#not all your coords have to be ott all the time either#but if that’s what your heart wants then go for it#also Anon check out bb&b jewelry you’ll love it

On Being Well Spoken
I recently received a request about posting something regarding being well spoken.
Something you need to realise is that you’re not going to become well-spoken overnight. You need to practice on people. You need to SPEAK.
I used to stutter so badly that I could barely speak a whole sentence.
Flash forward a few years. I pitched my start up in front of a crowd, I joined Model United Nations in high school and college, I’ve been invited to speak on my entrepreneurial experience by some top universities in my country. It’s taken a lot to get here. And I’m still not where I want to be.
1. Apps to track progress and help you get better at public speaking
An app that you can use: “Speeko.”
I used to use this, it is beginner friendly and you can improve your public speaking skills as well.
2. Use topic generators
Go online and look up a topic generator. Generate a random topic, video yourself speaking on that topic. Don’t give yourself time to prepare anything - read the topic and start speaking. Set a time limit - you’ll realise that speaking for even 2 minutes can be quite difficult at times.
Not only does this make you realise that you may have limited language skills, but it will also make you realise exactly where you’re falling behind. Note down things in a journal.
- is grammar the issue?
- Lack of vocabulary?
- Too many filler sounds?
- Knowledge gap?
This is also a great idea if you’re at an intermediate level of learning a language/ polishing a language. Do this everyday and maintain a diary on your improvement.
3. Reading out loud
Select a news article or any article. Read out loud, slowly and steadily. Pronounce every syllable calmly.
A two minute read should take 5 minutes to read out loud. That’s how slow you should go. Not more than 4-5 words per breath.
Your tongue needs to get used to different syllables and sounds. Practice will help.
4. Talk in real life
Talk to anyone and everyone whenever you can.
Ask your barista how their day is going.
Ask your work or university security if they’ve had a good day and if they ate today.
Chat with your taxi driver about their life. I always start with asking them if they are from the city we’re travelling in. Even if you’re from that city, act like a tourist. Where are the best eateries? The conversation eventually goes to personal questions. How many children do they have, and what do they do? What do they like about the city?
You’ll learn the art of small talk only through practice. No book or guide can actually prepare you. You have to practice, practice and practice.
5. Diaphragm breathing
Diaphragm breathing is very important. Look up some YouTube videos for reference. You essentially breathe from your tummy (stomach goes in and out; not chest going up and down). This is a great calming exercise too.
6. Stuttering tongue/ jaw exercise videos
These are great because they really do prep your jaw and tongue well. The videos could include tongue stretches, placing your tongue on your palette correctly, etc. Search on YouTube.
7. Body posture
You really need to work on your posture too. Sit up straight. Back, STRAIGHT. Chin up, shoulders relaxed. Something as simple as posture can change your level of confidence.
8. Pranayama
A yoga exercise for breathing. You can find a guided video on YouTube for sure.
9. Vocabulary
Invest your time in expanding your vocabulary. There’s enough apps and games that can help you with that, if you aren’t fond of reading. A sign of being well spoken is having great vocabulary.
Start by looking up the synonyms of everyday words.
“I’m upset”
- how many different words can you find for upset?
“I had a crazy day today”
- one can easily use “hectic”, “chaotic” “lively” instead
10. Idioms
Idioms, phrases, sayings - look up common idioms in your language of choice. Aim to use at least 3 new idioms on 3 separate occasions in a week while you speak. You need to understand when and where you can use the idioms in your vocabulary.
11. Knowing when to switch
You can’t talk like a 50 year old heiress to a 10 year old child; you need to get down to their level.
If someone is clearly not a native speaker and is struggling to put words together, don’t use difficult words around them.
If you’re meeting with someone high profile, refrain from using slang.
The best speakers know when to switch their level of language.
You can’t use one singular type of speaking with everyone. You need to understand that there is a time and place for everything - and you’ll be able to switch like a pro only when you actually speak and start gaining experience.

A Win is a Win is a Win - Sakusa x Reader
for anonymous - rivals and meet cutes - for the Milestone Event Week 1
Join My Taglist
The store is almost vacant at this late hour, just one other lone shopper is perusing, his back turned to you.
You go straight to the men’s wear, which brings you closer to him where he’s standing exactly where you’re headed. The sleepwear.
“I’m sorry,” you tell him quietly when you peer over his extended arms.
Yes, you’re in desperate need of some sleepwear - all-linen only - but that doesn’t mean you won’t at least try to get a fashionable piece.
He grabs a grey one and you know, just at the sight of it, that that’s the one you want. The cut is simple, yet stylish, cozy enough that you’ll have a good sleep in it.
“Is there another one of these?”
The guy turns as if he’s just now made aware of your presence.
He’s wearing a face mask, though it’s pulled down to his chin in the absence of the usual crowd of shoppers.
He’s pretty, from the full lips to the beauty marks sitting right beneath his dark curls.
“Go ahead,” he tells you, his voice smooth enough to make your toes curl up.
But as he turns away you realize that he’s gotten your question wrong - or did not care at all. Because he’s taking the last grey pajama set with him.
“Excuse me,” you follow him to the checkout counter. “It’s the last set.”
“Oh?”
“Yes, and I need it.”
“I’m sure you do.”
“I do indeed,” you try to step in his way but his impossibly long legs have no problem stepping past you.
“Excuse me?” He ignores you, addressing the guy at the register instead. “I’d like to buy this set. Is there any chance to only buy the trousers?”
Your heart flutters in relief. “I only need the top.”
“What?” Both men turn to you.
“I said I only need the top. We could share.”
A blush works itself onto his pale cheeks.
“We don’t offer any change with the sets,” the salesperson tells you. “I’d recommend splitting the cost privately.”
“See,” you turn back to your man, err, the man with the pajama. “I’ll transfer you the money right away. I only need the top of it.”
He considers it for a second. But you know that set is pricey. Their pieces are an investment, worth it, but an investment nonetheless.
Finally, he nods. “Very well. You pay, I transfer you the money.”
You grin. “Deal.”
-
His name is Sakusa Kiyoomi, you find out, when the money enters your account.
It’s a nice name, not at all fitting his curmudgeony behaviour.
But you don’t get a chance to tell him that, not when he’s out the door the minute the salesperson snips apart the attached pieces, his pants in hand.
Fine. It’s not like you liked him like that anyway.
-
“Found what you were looking for, Omi-Omi?” A guy asks right in front of you, his voice too loud for this fancy hotel.
“Shut up,” another voice grumbles and you recognize that misery instantly. It’s Sakusa.
He turns to glare at his colleague, his eyes catching you just a few feet behind them.
“Are you following me?” He asks, clearly annoyed.
“No,” your smile is all saccharine sweetness. “I hope you sleep well tonight. In my pants.”
You sidestep him, enjoying the pink flush on his cheeks a little too much, to get to the stairs.
“What’s that supposed to mean, Omi-Omi?” You hear behind you, but you don’t turn back to look. You’re better than that.
-
“Slept well?” A deep voice asks from behind you as you fill your plate at the breakfast buffet. A shiver runs down the back at the sound.
“Very well,” you admit. “And you?”
“As well as one can in sheets that have hopefully been washed before.”
“What?” You turn in surprise. “Didn’t you ask for all new sheets? Beginner-mistake.”
His eyes, dark and cool, watch you like one would his favorite food.
“Interesting,” he points out but doesn’t say more, stepping away with his breakfast in hand.
He got it from the other end of the buffet, which tells you that he came all the way over just to talk to you.
But, you remind yourself, that doesn’t mean anything. After all he would have been perfectly fine stealing your pajama set if you hadn’t stopped him.
-
“You ready?” Juro asks from behind the camera. You nod.
The door opens as if pulled by your thoughts.
You ready yourself for the next athlete you’re going to interview, only to choke on your own spit when you recognize the- well, everything.
Sakusa looks just as surprised as you are, though he masks it quickly, taking the seat across from you.
“You’re not getting a cold, are you?” He asks when you cough into the crook of your arm.
“Just swallowed wrong,” you apologize. “I’m sorry.”
His mouth, formerly turned into a flat line, pulls into a smirk.
“That’s what you get for sleeping in my clothes.”
Juro gasps behind you as your cheeks heat up and you all but dive into your bag for a moment of privacy to calm yourself down.
“Where were we?” You ask once you feel ready again, glaring at Sakusa in the most professional way he can muster.
“I was wondering if you have any allergies?”
“Shouldn’t I ask the questions?”
“Am I not allowed to ask my own?”
“You- you are.” This is getting out of hand. “What do you want to know?”
“Allergies,” he repeats, before smiling to himself. “And another thing. What is the correct way to wash your hands.”
You snort. “There is only one way to wash your hands.”
“Elaborate.”
You do, mostly because you want him to disagree. Surprisingly enough, he smiles.
“Allergies?”
“None,” you shake your head to emphasize it. “I just hate the feeling of cheap fabric.”
“Agreed,” he looks down at his lap as if he’s looking at notes. “Are you free this weekend?”
You almost swallow wrong again.
“That depends on who’s asking.”
“And if I’m the one asking?” There’s something like vulnerability in his eyes now, warming the dark brown.
“Depends,” you repeat, unable to keep your own smile at bay. “Are you free as well?”
-
“Aw,” Atsumu coo’s at your story. “You guys had a meet-cute.”
“It wasn’t a meet-cute,” Kiyoomi disagrees. His foot is hooked around your ankle in the most private way of showing affection. “It was annoying.”
“It wasn’t annoying,” you correct him. “You were annoying.”
“Excuse me?”
“Annoyingly cute?” You correct yourself, fluttering your eyelashes up at him.
He huffs out a something between a laugh and a groan.
“Saved your ass again,” he tells you before leaning in for a kiss on the temple which in turn, drives Atsumu away.
A win is a win is a win.

Hiya! I know you get this a lot, but I wanted to start off by saying how much I ADORE your work and that I genuinely cannot WAIT for day 3 of Mushroom Oasis. Your artstyle is so pleasing on the eyes! ٩(^‿^)۶ You might have been asked this before, but I was just wondering what programs you used when programming/making your visual novels ^^’
I love writing stories/drawing and I had loads of ideas bustling about making visual novels but have no idea where to actually start…
MUCH LOVE 💗💗💗💗
I use Ren'Py! It's incredibly beginner friendly and truth be told, coding is not my forte. I mostly looked at how my friend did it for Lift Your Spirits and kinda just worked with what I understood at the time!
Most of the time this is me working in Ren'Py:
Dev ramble under cut:
I know the question didn't explicitly ask but just a teensy bit of unsolicited advice, I recommend starting with a script!
You can't make a visual novel without the novel part done first, and it helps to see if you really have something good enough for a finished game before investing the time and energy into artwork, coding, et cetera. You can even start writing before you figure out how to use Ren'Py, as the script can help motivate you to finish what you started! At least that's how it worked for me!
#cheea chatter#bts#also join game jams!!#working with a deadline is a great motivator#plus helps people find your game thats catered to their interest#itchio has plenty of jams too esp in the VN category

here's first of the bigger requests that came through during the hard hours, my dear ✨ anonie, i hope you enjoy your piece! <3
LOSE TO WIN
warnings: bdsm dynamics, mistress kink, spanking, humiliation and praise, strap on usage, strap on deep-throating, coming untouched, anal fingering, pegging, rough handling, rough sex, orgasm denial, face slapping, riding
word count: 3.9k
Minho wasn't the kind of person you'd expect to get into trouble. He was smart. Sly. Always had a comeback, always knew how to get himself out of hot water. But he was also impulsive, hot-blooded and stubborn. He knew that about himself, maybe better than anyone else.
And he was incredibly competitive. So maybe that's why his plan was such a bad idea.
I mean, of course his friends would try to persuade him to not go to a casino, unless they were shitty no one would encourage their friend to go gamble, but Minho wouldn't listen - of course he wouldn't.
He didn't begin to understand why it was such a bad idea for him specifically to go until he was sitting at the poker table with a terrible hand of cards and no way to lie himself out of it.
People tend to do stupid things when they get their first big paycheck - buy a car they don't need, spend it on clothes or stupid investments. Going to a casino might be the stupidest though, not that the man would admit that, even as his beginner's luck shifted and the tide turned.
Winning a nice sum in the first few rounds, he felt confident - he should stay, play more - he could double it, triple it, he could go home with three paychecks instead of one. He'd show his friends, he'd be the one laughing at them.
But then he started to lose. And it was not pretty.
He wasn't sure how it worked in casinos, but when he was discreetly offered more chips to have a chance to win his money back, he didn't think to stop and ask where they came from or what the consequences were - he just needed a chance to win and then he'd leave. That was all, just one lucky hand and then this nightmare would be over.
When the last game ended, Minho was in a daze - it took him several long seconds to realise that he'd lost once more, and this time he was in deep shit. Not only his own money was gone, but now he owed someone.
He didn't notice you at all, eyeing him the whole evening and having a private laugh about how cutely clueless he was. It was so obviously his first time gambling, your trained eye could see it the second he stepped in the room. Oh, you'd just eat him up.
And now, watching the man sit there all miserable, head in hands as he came to terms with his situation, it was your prime opportunity to strike.
"First time?"
Minho looked up as soon as he heard the melodious voice, coming face to face with you dressed in a black expensive dress, hair and face all made up. At first glance he could tell you were someone important. And very, very rich.
"Um, y-yeah, sorry if I'm blocking the table." He moved as in to get up and leave, but you stopped him quickly and instead offered him a cigarette. Minho threw a nervous glance at the security guys, but they didn't seem bothered by anything you were doing, so he accepted. Of course, what he didn't know was that as the owner's daughter you had free range to do pretty much anything, and they knew better than to interfere when you were hunting.
"I can pay it for you," you offered easily, playing with the packet in your hands while Minho choked his sorrows with nicotine. He startled and you had to suppress a satisfied smirk. This would be so much fun, you couldn't wait to ruin him.
"N-no, that's fine. I'm fine." So he was still deep in denial, huh. You leaned closer and plucked the cigarette out of his hands, taking a drag yourself. You saw his eyes glued to your lips, shock and interest mixing in his brown irises.
"Look, boy, I'm going to be honest with you," you started, spinning your soft web, "you're fucked, spectacularly so might I add. If you try to leave now, you'll end up in some really mean people's hands. I can pay your debt and trust me, I'm much nicer when it comes to paying back." Minho looked like he didn't trust your words one bit, but that's what's nice about desperation - it makes you do things even if you know you shouldn't.
It was all reflected right there in his eyes. You knew you had him, he only had to stop running away from it.
"What would you want in return?" he asked hesitantly and you grinned. What a smart boy, knowing you weren't after money.
"One night, you listen to my every word," you said confidently, "be a good little toy for me."
You saw him shudder before he attempted to school his features into a look of carefully constructed disgust, but you knew. You really hit jackpot with this one, no pun intended.
He sat there in silence for a little while and you let him. He had to come to terms with reality and realise you were offering him the only way out, you would not interfere with that - he had to do that all on his own.
Minho knew he was stupid and got himself into trouble. For the first time in a really long time he couldn't come up with a way to get out of this - he desperately wracked his brain for any solutions while you sat next to him and inspected your nails like a shark waiting for the fish to crawl up all the way in his mouth.
But really, how bad could it really be? He'd just fuck you and he'd be okay, it was definitely the better option than getting beaten up by loansharks. It would be easy, right? He was pretty good in bed, so he had the confidence he could pleasure you and then you'd let him go and everything would be okay. Easy peasy.
He nodded. You grinned. Bad premonition filled his stomach.
Minho cried out when another hit landed on his exposed thighs, your hand then gently caressing the reddening sensitive skin there. There were tears brimming in his eyes, the burn of the impact turning him needy and whiney.
You didn't waste any time after you dragged him off into a hotel room, immediately ordering him to pull his trousers down and bend over the edge of the bed. You yourself dragged a chair over and sat down, face level with his perky underwear clad ass. He needed a punishment, that's what you said, and he was maybe starting to agree.
"Will this teach you not to be such a dumb boy? Maybe I can fuck some common sense into that pretty head of yours, huh?" You teased and taunted, delivering sharp words after each spank until Minho's head was swimming and he couldn't see through tears, biting his lips to stop all the pitiful whimpers from spilling out of his mouth.
But even though he didn't know what to think of this, his body has made up its mind already - he could feel his cock hanging between his legs, so hard it hurt, but ignored and useless. He attempted to sneakily touch himself a few minutes ago, only to get another hard hit and the sharp words "hands where I can see them, boy!", so now he didn't try anymore.
Everything was kind of fuzzy and he couldn't even tell up from down, but fuck, he didn't want to stop, and that scared him. Right now he'd probably let you do about anything to him.
"What do you think, have you learnt your lesson?" Your condescending words broke him out of his haze, but he could only pitifully whine, realising just how much his knees were shaking, close to buckling under his weight. You'd stopped your punishment, but he still felt the phantom sting of your previous smacks.
"Well alright then. Take off the rest of your clothes and sit down on the bed." Embarrassingly enough, Minho wanted to scramble to follow your order, but his limbs just wouldn't cooperate, so he sluggishly turned and fought his shirt off while you sat in your chair silently and watched.
You waited until he was done and sitting down before you came to him, standing in front of him and taking in the state of him. And what a vision he made with his red eyes, tear tracks over his cheeks and lips bitten raw, all crimson and swollen. The once proud and cocky expression he wore during the game now changed into neediness and desperation. And that's what you liked to see.
His lips in particular caught your attention, and you found yourself tracing them with your thumb, mesmerised.
"Fuck, I kinda really want to fuck your throat..." You only mused that out loud, muttering it into the charged air between you, but the absolutely wrecked needy sound that escaped Minho's mouth surprised you both, judging by the blush suddenly spreading down his neck.
"Oh? You like that? Well, who am I to ruin your fun.."
You walked over to one of the huge built in closets, pulling a big box out and gingerly going through its contents. Minho saw glimpses of various sex toys and other kink related objects, and he decided he really didn't want to know why you had that here. Some things were better left unquestioned. And he wasn't even sure whether you'd like being questioned. He desperately didn't want to displease you.
When you found what you were looking for, you pulled it out with an exclamation of victory and finally let Minho see what he apparently asked for - a harness and a strap on dildo - huge, veiny and deep purple. He shuddered, and though he'd like to lie to himself and say it was apprehension, the way his dick jumped upon seeing it spoke a different story.
You had to take your dress off to put it on, and the vision of you in only your black lacy underwear, black heels and the strap on harness did something to Minho's brain. You just simply gestured to the ground by your feet, face curled into a beastly grin.
"Kneel."
And as simple as that, he was on the ground in front of you so fast he might have had carpet burns. You laughed at him, like he was pathetic. He felt pathetic, with his mouth already watering and filling with drool, jaw clenched because otherwise he'd already have it wide open, and he squirmed under your domineering eyes.
You grabbed him by his chin, gently, turning his face up and guiding his lips towards the tip of your dildo. "If you need to stop, tap my leg twice like this." You demonstrated and he nodded, hesitantly letting his lips kiss the cold silicone.
Minho had tried it with boys before, and he wasn't against it, but he'd never sucked a cock in his life, and he had no idea what to do, so he started slow. You didn't seem to mind, eyes keenly watching him as he licked the toy and kissed along it softly, familiarising himself with the veins and ridges. Your hand stayed on his face, holding him in place and gently guiding him.
But of course your patience would run out at some point, and soon your hand pulled him onto the dick, sliding it between his lips and teasingly always thrusting a little deeper, until it was kissing his throat and making him gag. This repeated a few times - you'd slide in, he'd gag and you'd pull out to give him a little break, until you took matters into your own hands - quite literally.
Grabbing his head, you took control of his movements, guiding him in a smooth motion.
"Don't panic, relax your throat," your words rang out and Minho fought to follow your instructions, eyes full of overwhelmed tears, "breathe through your nose. Deep breaths. There you go."
You felt his his throat relax, sliding in a little further - and Minho choked. But this time it was a good sound, all nicely wrapped up in a tiny moan, and you groaned in answer, thrusting a little harder the next time.
His face screwed into one of pleasure and you saw his thighs clench, mouth suddenly hungrily chasing after you every time you pulled out. You pumped your hips rhythmically, growing breathless as you watched him moan and choke on it, with every thrust taking a little more until his face was pressed into the leather of harness, gurgly moans slipping out.
It was enough to drive a saint mad.
And Minho loved it - you could see it in the way his red cock jumped and twitched, throbbing in his lap like it was about to burst without a single touch. You felt your own pussy, so wet and empty, squeezing and clenching around nothing while you guided Minho's pretty face to choke on your cock.
"Fuck, wish I could feel your throat, bet it's so fucking good," you groaned out breathlessly, picking up pace and roughly slamming in, Minho's eyes rolling back into his skull as he took it, fingers helplessly digging into the meat of your thighs.
You should have seen the warning signs, but truly you didn't think he'd be capable of something like that - when his moans doubled in frequence, growing higher, more desperate, more whimpery, his hips jumping abortedly as his cock throbbed and twitched with rising intensity, you thought nothing of it, enjoying the view of his face covered in tears and drool, cock slipping in and out of his mouth.
You thought nothing of it until suddenly Minho was cumming with a high-pitched raspy moan, cock spurting out thick streaks of jizz all over his stomach and thighs. You pulled out in shock, eyes appreciatively flying over the scene, over his fucked out ruined face and body covered in white as he panted with laboured breaths.
"Mistress..." he rasped out, voice all gone and scratchy, and your pussy throbbed so hard you were worried you might cum too. Instead you steeled yourself and smirked again.
"What a naughty boy you are, did I say you could do that?" Minho didn't seem to have much brain power to come up with an answer and he only whined, tired body winding down. "Get on the bed."
He still faithfully obeyed your commands, dragging himself to the king sized bed and dropping down like he was dead. Crawling in behind him, you signalled for him to turn over on his stomach and he did.
His ass and thighs were still a little red from earlier, and when you touched the skin, he jolted a little, whimpers falling into a pillow.
"Well, Mistress has to punish you now, again" you tsked at him, hand reaching for a bottle of lube and condoms standing on the nightstand. Pulling one over your fingers and warming some of the smooth liquid, you carefully reached down between his cheeks, running softly over the puckered rim and pushing on it. You would have been worried about his reaction, had it not been for the immediate groan tumbling out of his lips as his hips jerked into your fingers, back arching and begging for more.
"What a naughty boy you are indeed," you whispered, giggling in amazement. You truly found a gem tonight.
His hole had a little resistance to it, but with careful smooth movements you quickly slipped in, stretching him out on two fingers. You chose a slow sensual pace, winding him up again, pouring some fire back into his veins. You heard his breathy little sighs, hips moving in a rhythm with your fingers, rolling in little circles and slowly working them in deeper and deeper.
Once they slipped all in and you started up a faster pace, the sighs turned into pleased little moans, those that spoke of a complete satisfaction of having been filled up and fucked open, and you salivated at the prospect of fucking him soon. And when you managed to curl your fingers just right, hitting his prostate and punching out a loud moan out of him, your head almost spun with lust.
Minho took three of your fingers like a champ, rocking back onto them and trying to subtly grind his already hard again cock into the sheets - and you let him, even though he probably thought you didn't know. Soon he wouldn't have such a luxury anyway, so what's a few cheeky rubs now.
"Such a slut, I really had no idea who I stumbled upon, huh?" you teased some more, fucking your fingers in roughly and massaging his walls in a way you knew drove him crazy. His hips never stilled for a moment, chasing his pleasure mindlessly as he drooled into the white bedding.
"Don't worry baby, Mistress will fuck you good," you murmured, pulling out and ignoring his needy panicked whines at losing the stimulation.
Without losing a second you immediately reached over to get another condom, getting your cock all nice and wet and ready. Giving his ass cheek one last smack, you angled your hips and pushed in mercilessly.
The cock went in easy, his hole all nice stretched and covered in lube, and the reaction from Minho was instantaneous. You felt him tense underneath you, a little pained whimper falling out of his lips just as he pushed back hungrily and pulling you deeper inside.
You understood what he wanted perfectly, and wasted no second giving it to him just right. Pulling back, you thrusted back in forcefully, punching out a pained moan out of the man.
You set a ruthless pace, pounding into him and angling your cock just right to smack right into his prostate on every stroke. Minho cried and screamed underneath you, keeping his hips still and presenting for you like a bitch in heat, hungrily taking all the aching pleasure.
"H-hurts...!" he moaned into the pillow even as his hips shook with how much he strained them to be able to take more.
"Hurts? Does it baby?" you entertained him, smirking behind him.
"So- so goo-" he got choked up on a groan, drool shining on his chin, "it's so good! More!"
"Demanding, aren't you baby?" you mused out loud, slowing down so you could pound into him harder, "but you have to be a good boy and not cum until I tell you to."
You felt how his body immediately tensed under yours with the overflow of pleasure, and he sagged into the bed, only letting out content whimpers as you continued the tempo.
You yourself were growing breathless, the fucking taking a toll on you as well - you were better at controlling yourself, but the way the harness pressed into your clit with every movement, sliding with all the slick you produced, your own arousal was slowly growing to crescendo.
Minho shook under you, his whole body taut and hands helplessly grabbing onto anything he could reach.
"Please! I wanna cum! Please!" his voice was all raspy with desperation, hips jumping back into yours. You tsked at him loudly between quiet moans, one hand going to spank him again.
You knew it wasn't fair, especially not when he jerked underneath you with a debauched groan, desperation growing tenfold in him.
"Please! Mistress!" for a few more thrusts those were the only words that slipped out of him, an endless repeat of cries and pleading.
"Can you be a good boy? Can you listen?" you taunted again, sweat rolling down your body, hands slipping on his skin with the perspiration. You were so close, you needed to cum so bad.
"Yes! Yes!" he chanted, and he really took it well. You fucked forward a few more times, aiming to give more pressure on his prostate - and when Minho flailed under you with tortured groans, but still didn't cum, you decided to take mercy on him.
Movements tinged with your own desperation, you quickly pulled out and tore yourself out of the harness, stepping out of your panties as well in the process.
Minho was desperately whining on the bed, hips still in the air and begging for more, but you grabbed him and manhandled him onto his back, in rush putting a condom on for him before you mounted him and sunk on his cock, a pleased sigh leaving your lips while Minho cried with overstimulation and denied pleasure.
You felt how his entire body trembled, freezing every time you moved your hips, eyes wide and wet with tears.
Your lust catching up to you, you couldn't help yourself and ride him with reckless abandon, just chasing your pleasure and using him like your own fuck toy while he thrashed on the bed, hips chasing after your wet heat and inaudible nonsense spilling out of his red lips.
"Go on baby," you gritted out between breathless sighs and groans, "take what you need." You were so close you could almost taste your orgasm on your tongue.
But instead of cumming immeadiately as you expected him to do, Minho only cried harder underneath you, incomprehensible pleading filling the room.
"Hit- hit me! Please Mistress, hit me!"
To say you were shocked would be an understatement, but you couldn't hide how your cunt clenched on his cock at his demands, and you reached behind to caress the back of his thighs again, only to be stopped once more.
Minho grabbed your hand and without any preamble pulled it to his face, big begging eyes watching you bounce on his cock. The groan that spilled out of your mouth was absolutely beastly and you clenched on his cock so hard you both almost came.
But who were you to deny him?
Caressing his cheek briefly, you pulled back and delivered a sharp slap, watching his face screw up with pleasure, cock throbbing almost violently, so close to bursting.
It only took one more before Minho was arching under you, crying out as his cock twitched and throbbed inside you, spilling into the condom.
Watching his face bleed into ecstasy and feeling his orgasm so viscerally, hearing his blissed out cries, you felt yourself clench and then you were cumming on his cock as well, riding out your orgasm on his cock as the pleasure consumed you from inside.
Your bodies jerked together for a few more moments, lust riddled brains savouring every second of the liquid ecstasy flowing through your veins, before you slid down to the bed to his side, attempting to catch your breath.
The last thing Minho remembered were your soft whispers of praises you pressed into his naked skin with gentle kisses.
You smiled and let him, seeing no reason in waking him up. After all, he didn't have to hear you settle everything with the casino, letting them know that there was no debt to settle cause the money he lost was yours all along. He didn't need to know the truth.
When Minho limped home the next day, covered in bruises, back hurting like crazy but muscles slack in a way that only good sex could facilitate, he couldn't even look into his friends' eyes with shame.
Of course they were worried for him - he looked terrible and they could see the little winces he did with every fast movement. He looked like he'd gotten beaten up after losing all his money.
And Minho would let them believe that, until the end of his life. They didn't need to know the truth.

Best Props for BDSM
It’s your Gentle Domme Kalita here, excited to explore an essential aspect of BDSM that can elevate your experiences: BDSM props. Having the right tools can transform your sessions from ordinary to extraordinary, adding layers of excitement, trust, and intimacy. Whether you’re a curious newbie or an experienced player, this post will guide you through some of the best props to enhance your BDSM play. Let’s dive in!
1. Bondage Gear
Bondage gear forms the backbone of many BDSM scenes. Here’s a look at some popular options:
Ropes: Soft cotton or hemp ropes are perfect for bondage, offering flexibility and comfort. Ropes can be used to create beautiful body harnesses or traditional ties. Remember to learn a few basic knots to ensure safety while creating stunning effects.
Cuffs: Padded cuffs are an excellent choice for beginners and seasoned players alike. They offer comfort while still providing a feeling of restraint. You can find them in velcro, leather, or chain variations for added style.
Hogtie Straps: These versatile straps allow you to bind your submissive in multiple ways. They can be adjusted to fit comfortably and securely, providing endless opportunities for effective and exciting bondage.
2. Blindfolds and Hoods
Sensory deprivation is a thrilling aspect of BDSM that can heighten arousal and anticipation:
Silk Blindfolds: A classic choice, silk or satin blindfolds are not only comfortable but add an element of luxury to your sessions. They can amplify sensations and allow your submissive to focus solely on touch, sound, and smell.
Hoods: For a more intense experience, consider hoods that cover both eyes and mouth. These add an extra layer of sensory deprivation and can be a thrilling addition to roleplay scenarios.
3. Impact Toys
For those who enjoy sensation play, impact toys can add a delightful sting to your sessions:
Whips and Floggers: Floggers made from soft materials are a great place to start. They offer a thuddy sensation rather than a sharp one, making them ideal for those new to impact play. As with all props, ensure you understand how to use them safely.
Paddles: Wooden or silicone paddles provide a solid thwack! Start with lighter paddles and gradually work your way up to heavier ones as your partner becomes more accustomed to sensation play.
Canes: If you and your partner are ready for the next level, consider using a cane. They require a bit more skill, so be sure to educate yourself on safe practices before introducing them into your play.
4. Sensory Play Items
Incorporating sensory props can elevate the connection and experience:
Feathers and Fur: Using feathers or soft fur can create an enticing contrast to the more intense sensations of bondage or impact play. They can be used to tease sensitive skin and provoke laughter or gasps of pleasure.
Ice Cubes and Warm Oils: Experiment with temperature play by incorporating ice cubes or warm massage oils into your scenes. The contrasts in sensation can awaken the senses and enhance pleasure significantly.
5. Roleplay Props
Roleplay can be a fabulous way to explore different dynamics within BDSM:
Costumes and Lingerie: Invest in a few costume pieces or alluring lingerie to embody your character fully. Whether it’s a police officer, a teacher, or a pet, the outfits you choose can enhance the entire experience.
Accessories: Consider using items like collars, leashes, or cuffs that match your roleplay theme. These elements can add authenticity to your scenario and deepen the power exchange.
6. Aftercare Tools
Aftercare is a vital part of any BDSM experience. Consider these items for a nurturing environment post-play:
Blankets and Pillows: Create a cozy space where you can have your aftercare discussions and snuggles. Soft blankets help in making your partner feel warm and protected.
Hydration and Snacks: Stock up on water, herbal teas, or light snacks. Staying hydrated and nourished is crucial after a BDSM session, especially if it has been physically engaging.
7. Communication Tools
Effective communication is key, even when it comes to BDSM props:
Consent Forms: For those diving deeper into BDSM, consider having a consent form that outlines what will occur during the scene. This can foster trust and clarity.
Notebooks for Reflection: Use a notebook to jot down thoughts, feelings, and preferences after your sessions. This reflection can guide future play and enhance both partners’ understanding of their desires.

I'm on my second career path choice after disliking my first choice (both fields required schooling), and I'm finding that I also strongly dislike my second choice. I'll be 27 soon and I'm feeling like a failure. All I want is to make decent money and not be miserable. I really thought the fields I chose would be right for me when I chose them and had to learn the hard way that they weren't. I'm tired, tired of being a perpetual beginner and of spending so much time and energy on schooling and "figuring it out". I just want to be doing the thing and move forwards so I can focus on the things that really matter to me. Any advice for someone in this position?
It sounds really frustrating. I wish we lived in a world where a person was free to explore careers without attaching a university size price tag to it. Here's the deal though: 27 is not old. I know it feels old, but I promise you it's not. I'm 37 myself and exploring my options and I don't feel too old at all. Many people do it. Since you're asking for my advice, I think for now you can work the highest paying job you can stand and pay off debt. Personal fulfillment in one's career is something to be envied, but obviously not the reality for most people. Show up, cash your check, pay down debt, and invest time and energy into your relationships and hobbies. I imagine your disillusionment with the first two careers might have been caused by any number of factors: 1) A misunderstanding of what working the career looks like day to day. 2) A youthful ignorance to the realities of capitalism. 3) The personal transformation that occurs between the ages of 18-27 changed you into a person that's no longer interested in the things you once were. The good news is that your personality begins to settle as you approach 30. You know much better what you need and want, your limitations, and the limitations of the world around you. I think you'll find the career path you're looking for. Just buckle down, make some money, make a secure place for yourself financially and socially, then revisit the subject when your sense of self solidifies.
Now I never talk about this because it's plain rude and makes me look like a jackass. When I went to college at 18 I had a small fortune from my dead father's life insurance. $250,000 or right about there. I spent all that money in 4 years and landed flat on my ass at 22 with nothing. I worked assembly line, food court, drug dealing, writing for scam websites, retail, online sex work, and even sold buttons at sports games. It took me until I was 28 to go back to school and I had to take out student loans to do it. But by that time I knew what I wanted. That initial failure of losing all that money, in the end, gave me the life experience to make wise choices. It was soul crushing the entire time but even the poor can make due with friends and a sense of humor. Don't beat yourself up. The past is the past. You will be fine.
