Elaborating about Why We Build The Wall. Yes, you can make very big, very obvious parallels with Hadestown’s wall and Trump, and the show knows this. It’s already an extremely political piece of theatre, and it has certainly been in mind in the direction and performance of this song since Trump’s presidency. But it is not ABOUT Trump. Why We Build The Wall and Hadestown’s wall in general predates the Trump presidency by YEARS. Hadestown is and always has been a deeply political story, and if your reading of Hades, Hadestown as a place and the wall itself starts and ends with “oh it’s Trump” you are going to miss so much of what the wall actually is in the story. The wall is real and literal but it is metaphorical too. It is a physical wall but it is a mental one too, it is there to imprison the workers of Hadestown just as much as Hades’ own ideology and his ownership and control of every person in Hadestown - the controlling aspect of which he attempts to extend to Persephone herself. Like yeah it sounds like it’s about Trump and you can think of it that way but it isn’t, and you need to think about it more than that, because Hades isn’t Trump and Hadestown is about more than the wall, and the wall is about more than the 2016 presidency because it existed long before that

So...The Greek Gods Again, Huh?

I’ve had an interesting past two weeks. Because of Danny Motta, I finally decided to listen to Epic—The Musical, and then Hadestown was in town, so I went to see that.

I have to admit it: I loved both of those gods-damned musicals. And on top of that, Stray Gods also plays around with the Greeks and the idea of them singing. I found myself at the foot of Olympus once again, mad that humanity keeps bringing me here!

There are so many gods in the world, so many pantheons, so many stories, that I am often befuddled that we’ve hung around with Zeus’s lot so much. And yet we have… in multiple musical formats, no less. Even before Disney’s Hercules movie, there was the Hercules live-action show, and certain ’90s kids, who I can’t be counted among, were deep in the pages of Percy Jackson, becoming quite familiar with Olympian schenanigans. In short, the world has never forgotten the Greek gods, even though I’ve thoroughly been done with them.

But…

I fear they’ve finally won. But because of the Buddha, not them! Pah! They wish!

I… actually enjoyed the Hercules cartoon when I was small. I enjoyed Hades, Stray Gods, Hadestown, and Epic. I can’t say there’s ever been a point I’ve hated seeing the Greek gods—maybe bored at most, but with an all-star cast of things I’ve enjoyed, those bored moments don’t really matter either. I am terribly done going to God-Era Greece, but I’m done kind of hating the trip.

If people are going to keep steering the car to Olympus, I might pout, but after a little tantrum, I’ll peek up and say, “So…the Greek gods again, huh? Alright, let’s see how the story is told this time!”

What does that have to do with the Buddha? Well, the man spoke often about the importance of the journey. The trials it brings will change us, and I’d be lying if I said the time with the Greek gods didn’t change me.

I’ve seen a lot of posts praising the intertwined love stories of Hadestown - their songs, their themes, their acting, their emotional impact - and all of it is absolutely deserved. But can we take a moment to appreciate the weight of "If It's True"?

I was expecting star-crossed lover feelings. I knew there would be an archetypal tragedy that seems both preventable and inevitable. Those elements, I could brace myself for somewhat. But nothing prepared me in the slightest for the CLASS CONFLICT arc, and it gave me chills like Eurydice had in that storm.

You're most welcome! I love snooping around maps and seeing stuff others capture from freecam mods myself, so again, I'm happy to be able to share. I really want to have WAY more detailed location pages on the wiki eventually, but this'll have to do for now. Also, I would love to see your layouts and I'm sure others would as well!

I don't think it's actually his apartment, though, he just went HARD in terms of personalizing his space. According to Yokoyama, he does also live in (well, "is the type to" live in) Minato--Roppongi specifically--and Mine mentions having gym equipment at home too, but I don't think it's the same place because the spaces are all work or recreation without any of the necessities, and there aren't any more doors. But if anything, it's pretty safe to say his home probably has the same vibe as his office, and I think that still fits for a "workaholic."

I thiiiiink Mine's old company was an IT startup, but he's got his fingers in a lot of pies, for sure. There's a cell phone software company that's a front for the Hakuho Clan, and I would guess he probably still has shares in Every Taxi Company in Kamurocho. Fitness is very much a thing he holds in high importance and is extremely picky about ("not being in the mood" to work out if he doesn't have his specific brand of protein and cancelling a proper gym membership because he "has better equipment at home"), so if he has the money, why not right lmao

I have seen the uncorrupted piano room and you're right that there's literally nothing else there other than the piano lol; in terms of the missing furnishings I was referring to, it's just some decor, mainly. He certainly could use an actual bench, but there isn't one in the "fixed" model either... fair enough though, since only the piano is "needed" for that shot.

About the doors behind the piano, those actually open out to the hallway outside the office. So you can enter either through the main entrance or the piano room. It is consistent with the game since Katase comes into the gym through the piano room, I guess, but it is kind of weird.

It'd definitely be nice to see more detailed entries for places (though I guess I speak from the minor perspective of artists compared to the general RGG fanbase, so it'd be understandable if it's not a paramount priority)! On that note though, maybe one day I'll dump them to the public. They're pretty old and messy: they have just enough info to get me by but might be indecipherable to. Everyone else LMAO BUT maybe I'll drop it after a revision (I also want to make sure everything's accurate if we're looking at the WHOLE room instead of just bits and pieces of it in the background of comics I make)

I figured it wasn't his personal apartment and was more strictly an office space (definitely a very personal one on that note). With that in mind, I'm forced to wonder what Mine's actual personal space looks like (but I'll let sleeping dogs lie: it's not something we'll ever get concrete info on, so I won't drive myself crazy trying to speculate on it when I have next to nothing to go off of for a layout)
