PinkBunnyGirl43 forsaking art for ai is both disheartening and disappointing. The warriors fandom(and arguably the books themselves) have only been kept alive by the countless artists over the past 20+ years and the purposeful introduction of ai into our space is so disgusting.
Here’s the link to a Twitter post with screenshots of her doubling down with the excuse of being “for kids”

Иди нахрен AI
You know, I'm currently torn between the idea of deleting my social networks completely. Or stop doing anything for this damn damn AI machine.
All the platforms that I wanted to use to gain an audience, take orders for art or make merch are crashing…
Moreover, the unemployment rate and working conditions are only getting worse. So now some more capitalist insatiable gluttonous shit is going to take away my opportunities.
I really want it all to burst like a soap bubble and not remember this nightmare in reality.
I'm so damn tired of this madness.

Hey I was just watching this video of the first beta, and we hear a reference to Ikenami?(at 29:33) He seems to be somewhat well known in this game, I wonder why?
https://youtu.be/g5Kv1yhFxaI?si=YqXYRrZRKQyDPtqs
Yep, that's the same place he's found in the second beta, too, the second beta just adds a camera pan over to who the girls are talking about so we actually got to see him finally, haha! The dialogue's pretty much the same (if not exactly the same, I don't remember for certain), so we don't really know yet why he's known even to the girls at Kokatsu when he attends Kiga, assuming there's more to it than just his attractiveness.
Also, just as a heads up, be a little wary of BuffMaister's translation videos! They're translated with AI, as mentioned in the description, which means they're kind of useful for getting the gist, but not always super reliable. Even just in that scene in the first beta, the girls mention Ikenami by name twice, but the name's entirely cut the first time, and very mistranslated the second, and his school name's also dropped from the "translated" dialogue. The overall idea of the lines is translated, but I can understand the Japanese voice lines, so I can tell the detail accuracy of the English text translation is somewhat dubious.

The need for efficient search and retrieval of relevant video content has become increasingly important in the fast-paced digital media landscape. In the older scenario, manual tagging and generating metadata were considered the hallmark of any retrieval method. However, this fails to capture the nuanced semantics of a video and its meaning. Embeddings have made a revolutionary technology that allows machines to understand and index video content indexing based on its intrinsic meaning.
Understanding Embeddings in the Context of Video.
Tumblr media
Embeddings are continuous vector representations that encapsulate the semantic concept of data, be it text, images, audio, or video. In the video context, embeddings are created by feeding visual frames, audio signals, and textual elements (such as subtitles) to deep learning models in some fashion. Such a process changes complex, high-dimensional data into an ordered format that can be readily analyzed and compared by machines.
Tumblr media
Conclusion:
In the scope of applying data science techniques to video content, Embeddings offer a series of solutions ranging from simple keyword search to powerful semantically oriented retrieval systems. By embedding advanced concepts, multimedia videos can be indexed and queried semantically for far more meaningful and efficient access.

Why are animal facilities not named in repository photos?
Hey folk, let's talk about something important! All of the animals on the repository website are anonymous - but why?
The answer: to prevent AI hoaxes.
So here's the thing. "Escaped zoo animal" hoaxes have always been a popular pastime for a certain segment of the population. GenAI has made this way, way easier and much harder to identify as a hoax. Those hoaxes commonly occur after major disasters (or just when someone wants to cause chaos) and can be really dangerous if they divert resources from other critical things.
One of the best ways to identify hoax videos as AI gets increasingly more sophisticated is to actually know what a facility looks like, and which animals are currently living there. If someone wanted to cause harm using my site, and the site identified where/when photos were taken... it would make it easier to replicate a specific place, or a specific animal.
I can't stop people from scraping the site and using it for evil, but I can up the difficulty level.
Fuck GenAI.

A 17-year-old high school student in Dayton, Ohio, has been fined and placed under house arrest after authorities discovered he had hacked into the city’s outdated traffic control system and quietly fixed the timing of several major intersections.
Kameron Price, a self-taught coder and robotics club member, reportedly used a Raspberry Pi and a decommissioned school-issued Chromebook to gain access to the municipal traffic grid. Over the course of several weeks, he rewrote the timing logic for at least five major lights along West 3rd Street—drastically reducing backups during rush hour and syncing green lights to reduce stop-and-go congestion.
“He didn’t disable anything or cause danger,” said a traffic engineer speaking on condition of anonymity. “Honestly, his code was more efficient than what we were using.”
But city officials said the changes violated multiple laws, including unauthorized access to a government system and interference with public infrastructure. Kameron was cited under a local ordinance pertaining to unauthorized modification of municipal services—a misdemeanor typically reserved for utility tampering.
According to Kameron’s parents, he initially took it on as a side project after watching his bus get stuck at the same broken intersection every morning for weeks. “It would take longer to go three blocks than it did to get across town,” his mom explained. “He got tired of watching everyone waste gas and time just sitting there.”
Public reaction has been overwhelmingly in Kameron’s favor. A video of the intersection running smoother than it has in years has gone viral, and a local radio host dubbed him the Subway Surfer of traffic flow. Online petitions calling for the fine to be dropped have already surpassed 50,000 signatures.
“Honestly, give the kid a job,” one commenter wrote. “He’s doing more for this city than whoever programmed those lights in 1998.”
Tumblr media
So the more I look into this story (found on Facebook so I never should have trusted it) on Google, the less I find it to be, ya know, true.
Also, the image below the purported mugshot might be the most AI thing I've seen in a goodong (typo, but keeping it because a goodong while is longer than a good long while, you know it is) while. I try to be less shit about just posting stuff I find without verification, but I'd been up for hours doing backbreaking labor (my back is not happy) getting my folks through SeaTac along with their luggage.

I did not create this summary but I have permission to share it.
Act I, the background:
The video opens with a timeline of Nano's history, Kilby glazing herself, and bragging about participation numbers.
When Kilby joined the board, she "figured we must be getting five- and six-figure support from big publishers" and "big authors." But, SURPRISE! "Nanowrimo never had that level of backing."
Shows some charts (screenshots, below). Note that the charts show that right around half (give or take, depending on the year) of Nano's funding came from charitable contributions.
Immediately after showing these charts, she says the organization was "primarily funded by sponsorships and merchandies, and not by charitable contributions." This is a great sign for what's to come. *As of 2020, Nano was "six-figure[s]" in debt. Her time on the board was focused on fundraising.
Act II, the scandal:
Kilby claims that the grooming of children ONLY happened off-site, NEVER on nano itself.
Kilby claims that the board publicly shared the findings of its investigation into CF after 10 days. It is implied this was done back in MAY.
Kilby admits nobody had any relevant training or certification for dealing with children.
Kilby claims nobody at NaNo knew who CF/Mod X really was (blatant lie) because they just didn't keep those records, which prevented them from being able to work with child protection organizations.
Kilby claims she was tapped for the ED position because she "understood youth-facing organizations" and "had experience with the required state-mandated training." No evidence of this understanding or experience is supplied.
More self-glazing
"Our top priority is, and was, child safety." lol
Kilby claims they implemented staff background checks "immediately" (later in the video, she'll claim that some unspecified number of people had been "vetted" and were working with the org again).
Further claims that they "developed an advice content [sic]" aimed at teaching minors how to be safe online. ….where? who knows?
Claims they started verifying educators on YWP.
Act III, the community:
Forums: Inconsistent moderations, outdated TOS. Saw problematic, unaddressable behavior. Couldn't maintain the integrity of the space.
One of the problems was that they had "encouraged" "volunteers" to set up "unofficial" Discords and facebook groups with the Nano name. "Nobody under nanowrimo's authority was moderating those groups." Using resources to deal with issues from these "unaffiliated" groups.
"The number of people who view themselves as experts by virtue of how long they've been doing Nanowrimo… numbered in the tens of thousands." [The salt really starts here]
Act IV, the fallout:
ED job was "bigger than rebuilding after an educational crisis" [because you're so good at that, clearly]
When Kilby took over, there were more than a dozen existing labor violations.
Participation had been declining since before 2020, fell off a cliff.
Sponsor money in March 2023: $310k. Sponsor money in March 2024: $125k
2023's funding shortfall was equal to 20% of their total annual budget
"We were operating outside of our mission." Claims they became an "advocacy group that actively lobbied for authors." No further specifics of how, for who, or to whom are provided.
We COULD recover from this, except for not having money.
Act V: Conclusion (why is there still 10 minutes left in the video??)
Nano is shutting down.
Website will stay up "as long as possible, but we cannot guarantee a specific end date" [because I don't know what the host's non-payment policies are or when the check will bounce]
We were going to merge with another writing org, but they noped out when they saw our debt.
"Other potential supporters" were scared off by mean, dastardly 'ol REDDIT
"Many people who withheld their support, or supported us anonymously, told us that the tone of the community was a big issue."
The press was mean to us and inaccurate about our position on AI. (what press? Youtubers??)
Kilby claims they TURNED DOWN "a number of" AI sponsors because it "went against our mission."
"The real alternative to the organization closing, and I can't say this enough, would have been for us to been funded [sic] by the community." No kidding?
"Community funding shouldn't have been a problem."
The collapse of Nano was because of things that happened before I got here (financial mismanagement), but it absolutely wasn't because of AI or a scandal. Don't put it in the newspaper that it was because of AI or a scandal. Those were just a coincidence.
Thank you to everyone I fired, drove away, etc. etc.

i think i have an obsession with Kokichi being overly anonymous online
i have so many aus that are just "Kokichi doesn't want his face on the internet but wants to make content, so he does this over the top shit about it" and honestly it's kinda funny
i think the most recent example of this is an au concept where the whole of V3 are a youtuber/twitch groups who do alot of both gaming and irl stuff together, and Kokichi is literally the only one in the group who lacks a physical appearance ever
people like Shuichi and Kiyo who want to keep a level of privacy just wear face masks and/or sunglasses to help conceal their faces, but Kokichi? Kokichi doesn't show up physically when he participates in irl or vlog style videos- he's always on a discord call on a laptop or someone's phone to participate.
it gets to the point where some fans start to make jokes about him actually being an ai the others made and he doesn't actually exist, the main thing debunking this thought is how interactive and quick witted he is, especially with chat during streams- tho some particularly gullible fans actually do unironically think he's an ai
idfk man i have way too much fun thinking of weird ways to conceal Kokichi's identity online
