Bunny Fic Incoming

In honor of @cajunandfire’s latest bunny drabbles, I wanted to share an idea that came to me. Hope you enjoy!

47 stood before a large and colorful map of the area, scrutinizing it carefully. He was there waiting for an informant who was expected to arrive sometime within the hour.

The informant had, in fact, already arrived 30 minutes ago. He stood at the nearby concession stand, trying to work up the courage to speak to the imposing bald man he was certain was his contact. 

However, the informant was frozen in place. From what he could tell, the man seemed frustrated, if not fairly angry. The informant didn’t want to be on the receiving end of his ire, especially considering the shady business he seemed to be associated with. He supposed it was possible that the contact just looked like that naturally, but he was still nervous. Knowing he wouldn’t get paid if he didn’t deliver the information, the informant took a deep breath and tried to confidently stride up to the man at the map stand.

47 noticed someone approaching and hoped it was the informant. A man walked up next to him wearing a green janitor’s outfit, which is what he expected the informant to wear. 47 was about to begin the coded phrase to confirm it was the informant when the man nervously spoke first.

“Hi….I, uh, think you are supposed to meet—“ The man paused when he realized 47 was glaring at him. He froze and didn’t continue speaking.

47 sighed, pointing at an area of the map that was closer to where the man was standing. “Where is the drive?” he asked quietly.

“Oh, right! Uh, h—here you go.” The informant at least tried to be covert in his exchange by pointing at the map above 47’s hand, dropping the flash drive for him to catch it. 

“Thank you,” said 47 as he pocketed the flash drive.

“So uh, is that it or—?” He audibly gulped when 47 glared at him again. “Right, yes, goodbye!”

As the janitorial informant ran away, Diana’s voice returned. “Apologies, 47, he’s new. I think you intimidated him a little,” she chuckled. When 47 didn’t respond, she spoke again. “47, are you feeling alright?”

47 mumbled an affirmative, but Diana didn’t believe it. “Talk to me, 47. What’s wrong? You seem…unusually grumpy, today.”

When he walked through an area empty of visitors, he felt safe to speak freely. “This wasn’t what I expected.”

“What wasn’t?”

“The zoo.”

“Oh…I thought you liked animals, 47. What’s wrong with this place?” 

He mumbled something she couldn’t understand, he said it so quietly. Is he embarrassed? thought Diana.

When Diana didn’t respond, 47 sighed and said, almost petulantly, “This zoo doesn’t have any rabbits.”

Diana blinked. “You wanted to see rabbits?”

“Yes. I’ve walked everywhere and I’ve checked the map,” he frowned. “They have no rabbits.” 

The irritation in his voice was almost adorable if it weren’t for the fact that he was genuinely upset to have not seen any rabbits at the zoo. Diana wasn’t sure what to say, but she sympathized with her agent. “I’m sorry, 47. I will keep that in mind for any future handoffs.” 

“It’s fine.” He lightly sighed in disappointment before returning to a more stoic demeanor. “Where will we exchange the information?”

Diana had arrived at her hotel room that morning and scheduled to meet 47 for the flash drive later that afternoon. She had planned to meet at the local shopping mall as it was a good public place to blend in, but now she was thinking of somewhere else. Somewhere that would make a better day for her grumpy agent. She was already searching through locations on her laptop and seemed to be onto something good.

“I will text you the address,” she said with a smile. “See you soon, Agent.”

A few hours later, 47 drove to the address Diana provided. Strangely, the location was rural and not like the usual crowded places she preferred to meet for intel exchanges.

Part two to this imagine. Title: Fished. Fandom: Planet of the Apes. Pairing: ( Getting BETTER ) Yearning! Blue Eyes x Human! Reader. Rating: K. ( Mucho fluffy. ) Words: 1.8K. Summary: Blue Eyes is not a chatter box. You knew this very well, but still, every so often, he'll bless you with a conversation and always leave you wanting more.

The sound of twigs crushing underweight got Blue Eyes’ attention. He had been so invested in scouring the area with his eyes, checking for any signs of danger that it ultimately left him defenseless to an extent. Actions caused by his young age, something no doubt his Father would scold him about if he were there, about needing to not be so invested into his own personal thoughts that it caused him to lack focus on other, more important tasks. He could almost see, hear Caesar in his mind about that but he pushed it aside. Even when out on his own time, he found himself thinking about his Father. But--- what had caused the twigs to snap?

Blue Eyes tilted his head and out of the corner of his vision was a form. Ah… It was not dangerous, your scent hit him mildly before your entire being came into view and he turned his head back forward, following the dance of light as it seeped in from the sky above, casting fun shadows along the ground of the woods. It was just you. Just… You, Blue Eyes thought and turned his head to glance up at you, opting to rest in a rather comfortable crouch position as his gaze followed fish in the water in front of him that swam dangerously close to the edge of the shore.

‘Have fun?’ Your signing was rough around the edges, Blue Eyes thought with a huff to himself. A laugh of contentment. You were asking him if he was having fun. A brief expression of happiness hit him, and you felt a surge of gratefulness wash over you. The fishing expedition with himself, you and Ash had gone splendidly. Blue Eyes was quite adamant to be the watch for the entire trip. Not much fishing was done for him, he plucked a few once you were at the embankment of the river and hooted in excitement with Ash at how large a catch it was. You were impressed too, less so once he offered you to hold it, but impressed and happy nonetheless. But he did have a good time watching you and Ash. Ash and… you… You.

The way your body bent against the trick illusion of sunlight bouncing off the water, the chaos of the moment when Ash began chasing you with a fish at the end of his spear, the pleasure on your face when you took your spear out of the water, the tiniest of fishes on the very tip. Tiny, Blue Eyes could eat it in one bite but you were still so proud to call to him, to show it to him. He… He liked that. That you beckoned him, and the way that his name fell from your lips? Blue Eyes felt confused at that and often shook it off, but this time, he couldn’t. It lingered and felt like a mild thorn in his side. He ended up by the embankment in subtle silence, watching, waiting for the second you came back to him to tell him that this time was over, and that you were ready to head back.

With wrinkly hands from being submerged in water for an extended time, you propped yourself next to the Ape Prince, letting your eyes trail along your fingertips before smiling and dropping them into your lap. Pensive silence followed; Common with Blue Eyes but you always found it nice, the non-pressures of having to actually communicate. Ash had gotten himself busy with preparing for departure, you watched as he placed fish into a basket, weaved by yours truly. It wasn’t the best looking, a bit sloppy around the middle, but you couldn’t help but feel proud of the work you had done.

In all honesty, you didn't want to leave. To go back to the Colony in the same silence that you came in, save for Ash’s pestering about you and Blue Eyes. Whatever that Ape saw between his friend and you had to be catapulted in his mind. You didn't want to return just yet as you let your gaze sink into the Prince next to you. Words always found themselves dry when you tried to teeter in your mind how Blue Eyes looked to you.

He was svelte- given his age, given all aspects of his parents, you supposed that made sense. He hadn't quite grown into the same bulk that Caesar had, but no doubt that as the years passed, he would get there, even potentially matching or surpassing his Father. The mild part in his hair, courtesy of his Mother Cornelia. How soft it looked, you thought to yourself with a sigh of longing. What you would give to brush your fingertips through, just to know what it felt like. You imagined silky- the rest of his fur appeared coarse in nature, another aspect of age. He’d smooth out as he got older, the patches of fur that weren’t as thick as others along his shoulders would find themselves evened out and balanced perfectly against the ripple of his muscles underneath. You paused for a moment at the scars across his chest, starting at his right shoulder and encasing his entire upper chest with three parallel and long gashes. If they hurt him, he was good at covering it up as they had already begun to scab over.

The scar that encased his right cheek was noted, feeling a bit of sympathy rest against your chest. How you’d love to heal him, to help him. In these moments of silence, it was always his eyes that caught your attention. You were so used to the intelligence of the green eyes that his were always going to leave you breathless. The bright blue nature, so vivid against the backdrop of his pupils and limbal rings. You wanted to swim in them, that’s how dilated with color they were. You tried your best to gawk, but it was hard not to as you shifted your body ever so slightly to angle away from him, hopeful that if your entire being wasn’t entranced with him, maybe you could focus on something else.

Despite your attempts to cover, Blue Eyes knew you were looking at him. Every pass of your eye, every narrowing and widening, were documented. Known, accepted, and allowed. Blue Eyes did not know why, but even your presence, just sitting beside him doing absolutely nothing, caused him to rattle on the inside. You were great friends with him, you were great friends with Ash, but the stir in the pit of his stomach caused him to shift ever so slightly. He signed, hopeful that it was just a passing feeling and it would fade, ‘Lot of fun. Good fishing ground here.’

A response, albeit late, to your earlier inquiry. You smiled, nodding in agreement. You knew nothing about fishing, Blue Eyes had to know that. ‘I caught one.’ You signed proudly. ‘Finally.’ You tacked on with a laugh.

There was a flash of a happy expression across the Apes face at your joke. ‘Tiny,’ he joked right back, ‘Good, you learned how to do it.’

‘Had good teacher.’ The praise that Blue Eyes got from you pushed him through a metaphorical door. He felt… good. Good that he taught you so well, proud that you told him he was a good teacher.

Still, he could not bring himself to rest comfortably with the compliment from you, documenting the way it made his heart race, the way he felt clammed up when you smiled. ‘Ash is better.’ Ash is better at teaching how to fish, or other things?

You tilted your head and chittered softly, using your words rather than rudimentary signing. It had to be difficult for Blue Eyes to put together cohesive statements from your rather choppy knowledge of sign language. Getting better, but still hard to formulate complete thoughts. “Ash almost stabbed my foot thinking it was a fish.”

Blue Eyes let out a few huffs at that with an open mouth. He was laughing- not at you, but at the situation he imagined. He knew Ash to be that way, and odds are, his friend would deny it happening. He was the greatest fisher of the entire Colony, after all. Self-proclaimed, Blue Eyes sarcastically joked and made fun of Ash for it.

‘He gets… impatient.’ You could tell from the way his hands were moving that he was searching for motions you were going to understand. ‘Wants to catch all at once. Does not wait.’

That… sounded remarkably like Ash, but also like Blue Eyes and you found yourself slapped with a stupid looking smile as you said, “Are you sure you’re not talking about yourself?”

Blue Eyes got quiet next to you in a mild form of self-reflection before snapping rather defensively, ‘No.’

That made you burst out with laughter, tilting your head back and placing a hand on your chest to catch your breath as you wheezed. Blue Eyes watched, turning his head ever so slightly at the sound you were making. Sure, he had heard Humans laugh before - in fact, this was not the first time he’d heard you but the way you moved, the way your head exposed your jugular to his eyes, the way you lightly placed an arm to his bicep, unknowingly or not, to keep yourself leveraged from falling over - Blue Eyes stiffened beside you and let out a small laugh, unsure why what he said was so amusing but he wasn’t able to bring himself to complain upon seeing your visceral reaction.

Wiping tears away from the corners of your eyes, you smiled once more at Blue Eyes. You opened your mouth to speak once more but were cut short as Ash came stumbling in behind the two of you, muttering something about the loss of time and that you needed to head back now to get to the Colony before dark. Blue Eyes gave you a passing glance as he stood next to his friend who gave him a raised eyebrow look - no doubt wondering what the two of you were talking about. Suddenly, as you were preparing to hike your body onto your feet, there was a hand in front of your face. Blue Eyes. You blinked at it, but accepted the action and grasped at his tightly. Without reserve and leaving you breathless as a result, he picked you up like you weighed nothing more than a leaf.

And in stunted silence, you began the trek back home, hoping to the high heavens that Ash didn't come to your reckoning and beg you to tell him about the details from your conversation with Blue Eyes. You wanted to keep his words to yourself.

Happy 10th, Outlander ❤️

Hey Outlander Tumblr Fam, it's been a hot minute!

I know I haven't been able to be active in this blog for a long while (pandemic, trying to build a career, forgetting my password) but I wanted to write a little something to commemorate this very important milestone in our fandom.

08092014 - 08092024 Gosh, has it really been a decade?! Time really does fly.

I've watched this show pretty much since the beginning. I was not into fantasy series before (I am a crime drama girlie) but this show has won me over.

It led me to create this blog to have a separate space for this new found fave - first, as an outlet to all the feelings; and second, to share the creatives art this fandom has.

What I didn't expect to find was people within this community to interact and talk with, more so, a safe space during a very confusing and tumultuous time in my life and inspire me to open up a bit. To make a long story short, this fandom and the people I've been fortunate to share this space with, literally saved me and my life. And that is the most valuable thing 🥹

One other good thing! Watching the show and being in the fandom has brought out the little creative in me - I got to write a bunch of fanfics!

Something I never thought I'd be able to do but over the years, I got to try writing fics, multi-chapter fics, write in different genres, beta and edit for other authors, have people read what I write (what?!) etc. It has been a great joy to be part of the Outlander fanfic writers roster!

To close, there are not enough words to express the love and gratitude I have for #Outlander and the fandom community for the last 10 years. I am forever grateful ❤️ Thank you.

Happy 10 years and happy last 1.5 seasons! I can't wait! P.S Scotland is next in my travel bucket list! Hoping to travel there either this or next year! ✈️

Two years ago today, I published my first chapter of my first fic.

I... never really imagined that I'd go on to write over 200k words. I'm an engineer, not a creative writer. But the stories tugged at me, and I kept writing, trying new stories, trying different things. (In fact, later tonight, I'm even trying a new ship as part of @supergirlmayhem!)

I never really thought I'd get involved in fandom. I never really understood fandom. But meeting people on discord and tumblr and twitter has been such a highlight - I've talked to people all around the world, made some good friends, had hilarious and insightful conversations, and learned so much about myself in the process.

I also really want to say thank you to anyone who has read my fics!!! I didn't watch Supergirl until after it finished airing, and thus was really late to the fandom in general. Those of you still reading new fics are the lifeblood of the fandom.

This Ficaversary, I'm very grateful to have found this fandom ❤️

I love, love so much your blog! I recently finished Shadow and Bone trilogy and my head is like no thought, only Darklina xD So I'm really glad to have found this blog and read your thoughtfull meta!

I have so many thoughts about the trilogy (I've read SoC dualogy but I'm not that big of fan) so I will start with this question: What do you think was the purpose of the donkey dream sequency in S&S? I mean this:

Are they very poor? I ask Ana Kuya.

Not so poor as others.

Then why doesn't he buy a donkey?

He doesn't need a donkey, says Ana Kuya. He has a wife.

I'm going to marry Alina, Mal says.

Then Alina has another dream, where she's the girl but then floats to the sky, leaving the salt behind her.

While reading it, I thought it as a metaphor her being afraid of being with Mal, of becoming ordinary girl and being shackled to him. But with the ending of the trilogy, her losing powers and marrying Mal, didn't she just do that? What do you think LB intented to with this scene? I'm interested knowing your interpration.

Admittedly, I haven't analyzed this scene. Probably because it's too weird and painful.

This couple that they see on the road can really bring Malina flashbacks to the reader.

The man is joyful, carefree, whistling away without a care. He's every inch of Mal from the moment he's been introduced to us.

The woman is tired and struggling. She's Alina carrying this power inside of her without knowing it.

The man doesn't seem to care that his wife is exhausted. The same way Mal didn't seem to care when Alina was sick and dragging her feet. There is this obvious subordination that Mal wants to replicate. Unwillingly or not, Leigh Bardugo really kept Mal's character canon with this vision: he always wanted Alina to depend on him, not to have her own independence.

One could say that his statement "I'm going to marry Alina" is irrelevant with the previous conversation but it does look very suspicious, doesn't it? Mal, a mere child now, seeing this couple and finding it normal for the man to dominate his wife. Was he influenced by such scenes and therefore found them normal?

This scene could be interpreted as Baghra giving advice to Alina regarding her powers and what happens if you suppress them.

But still, why does it kinda look like the same "Have power but only so much as" shit again.

And to be grateful for what? For being a Grisha? Or maybe for having enough strength without needing to search for the remaining amplifiers.

Just like I said in the beginning, these scenes are really sad. For a woman to be compared to a donkey, for a young boy that wants to marry her and (very) possibly treat her that way makes you feel depressed inside. Especially if the reader is a woman too.

The first memory could be real. Or (and I lean on this interpretation) Alina unconsciously conjured a metaphor of how her relationship is with Mal. Deep down she knows how things really are (Mal is the master and Alina just a weak girl trying to catch up on this connection by suppressing the thing that keeps her healthy) but she pushes these things aside, deludes herself and clings on her love for him. The same way she did when she lost her powers. Just look what she said in "Rule of Wolves" to the Darkling. "I am happy. You never saw me this way". Meanwhile Alina's mental state: ☠️☠️

But how Bardugo thought about this scene? That Mal just made an innocent, romantic comment that didn't pass the vibe check. I'm very sure that she didn't want him to be sexist here (she cares about this character too much to spoil his reputation) but she bamboozled herself and made him look like a little prick. Ana Kuya's comment "He doesn't need a donkey. He has a wife" probably reflects the sexist world that Leigh created. Which, by the way, would be fine if she had only let her protagonist break away from these kind of "chains" and find her own power and purpose inside this story *gestures towards George R. R. Martin's female characters*.

The contrast between you and him is like day and light, and when you both come strolling by weather that be passing by the local convent shop. Or making a quick stop to a store that’s peeked your interest, eyes were bound to wonder. The stares were noticeable, but you guys have gotten use to it, cause your love for him couldn’t be dented by a pair of curious eyes.

Your personality peeked his interest, I mean who could be this kind and caring??, no less to just some normal people who haven’t impacted you in any significant way. It just made him…confused? (-∀-💦)

The way your kind eyes stared at him Tugged at his heart in an alarming (at least to him) way! The blush that spreed across his face the first time you gave him a sliver of kindness was to much for him.

Your cheerfulness always brightened him up especially after tough interactions with glam. Railing up and you being the only one to comfort him back to his collected self. And even if he doesn’t vocalize it he is very much grateful <3.

You make it point to make him feel understand-ed and would never make him feel alienated by his interest un like some un kind people. You let him rant about his newly found obsession or just show off a new skill he learnt.

Even small things like you congratulating him on a good score he got, or maybe for remembering the smallest thing, even commenting on his intelligence. It’s not like his teachers, just thanking him for being the only knowledgeable student, but instead asking more questions to learn more about the topic, and really see how much he knows. And though he doesn’t like being bombarded questions he deems stupid, when it comes to you it makes him like seeing the shock and awed look you give him. Can you blame him? Not only is it adorable but he likes showing off in front of you.

He would rather be dead then admit this but he loves the way you smell like strawberry, he would take this to his grave before admitting this he finds it embarrassing ( =ω= )

Let’s you do his eye shadow only because of how delicate and caring you are with it, you always make sure to take your time so you don’t hurt him little moments like that is what he absolutely adores about you!

I feel like he gets easily flustered by physical touch so whenever your get happy just by seeing him and hug him you can look up and see him red as a strawberry (≧◡≦) ♡

Whenever he goes shopping in the off chance he has some money to spend after he’s done grabbing some clothing he always makes sure to drop by your favorite store. Weather that be a cute accessory story, or a small bakery you might have said you enjoyed, either way he always makes sure he has left over money. So whenever he has a bag filled of random darkly colored clothing only to walk into a store and buy you some pink clips for your hair you can imagine the cashiers surprise. Dee though a bit embarrassed doesn’t care much it’s worth seeing your bright smile at the small item.

About one year ago I was discovering Station 19 and those of you that know me, know how much I regret for not doing it earlier, but I’m so glad and grateful I did it anyway! I was just coming back to social media, after 7 years of deep depression and one day I saw on my dash a Marina gifset and some Danielle and Stefania videos from the Cons in Paris and Milan, and I was sold… since then my life has never been the same again 🥹

It has been a pretty difficult time to join the fandom… the worst of times… God (and also @iamthelegman 🥹🫶🏼) knows how hard and overwhelming all of this has been for me, but still very grateful to be part of it and to be fighting alongside you all. Not in my worst dreams I could imagine this would be the situation one year later, but it all also has helped me to be stronger and more resilient!!

I’ll be forever grateful for these two humans, for changing my life forever and for making me a better version of myself and making me love myself for who I am and to finally accepting and embracing it with no shame or guilt!!! And also for bringing beautiful people into my life, people I love deeply and will be taking with me forever. I may lose Station 19 and Marina today… but because of these two I found my people!!

Dear Stuck, I hope you are doing well. Although I have never written on here and plan on doing so more, I'd like to thank you for all the work you've put into keeping this ship alive and supporting the girls both individually and together. You are one of the few people that stayed behind after everything that happened and for that I am grateful. In our eyes, Camren is just a love between two beautiful girls that are constantly being forced apart by forces greater than them. Their will to keep on fighting for that feeling that they first felt at 17 (yes, Used to this is THE Camren anthem to me) gives me so much hope for their future. As a young queer girl, they were the first couple that I encountered that I found a home in. Their love gave me courage to come out and say the things that I kept guarded in my heart for so long and for that I am forever grateful. Nonetheless, apart from expressing my deepest gratitudes to you and this incredible fandom, I'd like to say that I encountered something interesting the other day that I have never seen, in the 8 years that I have been in this fandom.

It's a radio interview from Ryan Seacrest, recorded around the time when 7/27 was released. The thing that intrigued me is that only Camila and Lauren are interviewed by him and although it is quite short, it made my heart soar when I saw it. Have you ever seen this? And I am very curious as to why only C and L were interviewed when the other girls (or what sounded like them) could be heard in the background. As you can imagine, hearing them being interviewed on their own made me so emotional and gave me a tiny glimpse into their potential future as a free couple, a future that they deserve to have after everything they have been through. Hey buddy! First of all, thank you for your kind words. I don't really feel like I deserve them because one: I'm not as active on CamrenLand anymore and two: I totally distanced myself from Lauren as a fan. I don't follow her anymore, but I still like Camren. I think that just like you, this fandom has filled my life a lot, especially because of the people I've met. Some are very good, others not so much. But they've been there and that's appreciated. I'm so happy for you, buddy. To know that the girls' love, as cute and chaotic as it has been, has helped you and other fans have the courage to come out of the closet. It's an achievement, not only for the girls, Lauren and Camila, but for yourself. That courage was always inside you, you just needed a little push and Camren gave it to you. It's amazing and really gratifying to know that they did help.

As for the interview, it's the first time I've listened to it and it's been great to do so. I didn't know her but I loved it. I didn't know how much I missed hearing the girls talk until now. They were always a good team in interviews. Whether it was making jokes or supporting each other when needed. The times Lauren defended Camila from the mockery of the interviewers I always found it very loving.

I don't know if the girls are still together, I hope they are. If they're not together, I've always wanted them to be happy with whoever they choose and now Camila... well, no. I'm not going to talk about this in your answer, buddy. Maybe later.

You did. She was your best friend actually, and had two kids of her own. She had been there for you through it all

"See, my wife... I think you two would get along a lot better than you'd think. I know it's weird to see someone who meant a lot to you who should be dead just, sitting in front of you now. Much less someone you loved."

You're entire face goes red, dread filled your stomach at the notion, but before you could apologize or anything, he rests a hand on your shoulder.

"Relax. It's no big deal. In fact, I'd like to invite you to dinner. My wife has been dying to meet you!"

You accept warily

Later on you're all ready, sitting on their front door step, overthinking.

You're about to turn around when the door opens behind you

"Oh! You must be (Y/n)!!! I've heard so much about you!"

You freeze in place slowly turning

Your stomach drops again. It's...?

"I'm (Y/n)."

She greets you with a hug, and you stand there stiffly, in even more shock than when you had met Peter B for the first time

She pulls back, and it's like looking into a mirror

She smiles warmly at you, you flashing a nervous smile yourself

She takes the wine you had in your grasp, her face lighting up at the sight of it

"Well! Looks like we have the same taste. I-I mean, I guess we'd have to, right?"

You can't help but burst into laughter. Looks like you really are funnier than you thought

Dinner was one of the strangest, yet most relaxing experiences you've had with the multidimensional hopping you've had so far

You knew there were plenty of you in multiple universes, one of you was just born in one of them!

The way he'd look at her, well, also you I guess, was now bittersweet

He held so much love in his gaze, and suddenly you no longer felt any resentment or jealousy to yourself

It was painfully beautiful to see that maybe, if your Peter had just stayed with you long enough, you could have had this too.

I never when I checked out the eurovision entries for each country at the start of the year that I would be here at the end of it, having found new friends and even meeting people in person (❤️Berlin queue❤️), only listening to Finnish music, planning a visit to Finland and learning a new language for the first time in years 😁 I'm having so much fun and I'm so grateful to käärijä and his crew for this and all the crazy party things so far and that we will get in the future 😁

PART ONE

Sometimes the stars align and wishes do come true. Let me tell you the story of me finally getting the chance to meet Jared and Jensen. Sorry it will be "a bit" long 😉

It was in April 2023 when my friend Neria (we found each other on Twitter through the German Doctor Who # and we're both huge SPN fans) and I talked on the phone (we've never met in person bc we're living 900 kilometers apart) about J2. We "pitied" ourselves that we'll never meet them in person bc we can't afford CE or JiB con. But then, a few days later, on Saturday April 22nd suddenly the announcement of Jensen being at PurCon 8 came on.

So I immidiately called Neria (they are a Jensen-leaning J2 stan) to tell them that I wanted to attend this con so bad. They agreed but they didn't know if they could afford it. Fortunately I had a small amount of savings and it would be enough for a ticket and a photo op. So I called my best friend Petra (she is an absolute Deangirl but not in the fandom) to ask her if she wants to go with me to the con. To my utter delight she was on board and I bought 2 single day tickets for Saturday May 25th 2024 (it was clear that my health wouldn't allow me to attend 2 days in a row, I knew the train travel alone would take its toll on me). My Twitter friend Conni insisted to gift me my entry ticket and I can't express how grateful I am to have such awesome friends. So shoutout to Conni and a big thank you ❤️. Shortly after Neria decided "fuck it" and bought also a Saturday ticket, so we could finally meet in person. And I would see Jensen Ackles and I started to count the months 😂 I tried to get a photo op but I wasn't lucky at the first two batches, finally with the release of the 3rd batch and help from Neria (they got lucky on the 1st round) I got an op with him too. YAY \○/

A while after that Jared was announced for Infinity con which took place 2 weeks before PurCon. I briefly contemplated to sell my ticket and op for PurCon to go to Infinity but I dismissed the idea because didn't want to abandon my friends and so I decided to stay on the PurCon route. I mean - one out of two was better than nothing, right? Who could've guessed that I would be rewarded for this?

And then, on February 19th 2024 the announcement that Jared was moved from Infinity con to PurCon! I freaked out! I couldn't believe my luck and I just screamed my joy into the world (yeah, my neighbours are used to that 😂🙈) And this time I got lucky at the first try and got an op with Jared too. From this moment on I was just a happy mess, I flew constantly and I started to count the days 😂 On April 15th 2024 Ent Events put the J2 VIP panel on sale and yes, you're right - I bought for Petra and me the tickets. There were only 5 weeks left and my anxiety began to skyrocket. Hotel, train ticket etc was booked too, now we dreaded the day for the con.

But somehow time flew and suddenly it was Friday May 24th and my travel began very early. I had to take an earlier train bc of course there was a construction site on our track and trains were delayed ~ 30 minutes and I needed to catch my ICE (high speed train) in Munich. So this is me waiting for my train to Munich at 7 a.m (and naturally I wore my Imperfect-akf-hoodie! 🥰)

I arrived in Munich central station where I met up with my bestie Petra. This is us in the ICE to Düsseldorf

During the whole journey we were in contact with Neria with them we would meet in Düsseldorf central station. Well, before that we collected delays on our way to Düsseldorf, I didn't expect any different 😂 But finally we arrived and I was able to hug Neria for the first time 🥰

And then the chaos began (yes, it ran all too smoothly, so somewhere along the way things had to go sideways). We needed the train to Düsseldorf airport. Yeah. We were on the right platform but they moved our train to another platform. So again the march to the lift and finally on the right platform the displays were a complete mess. Trains were delayed and the displays showed the wrong trains and so on. But we got into the right (and overcrowded) train and made it to Düsseldorf airport. From there we had to take a bus to our hotel (we weren't in the con hotel but a cheaper one 2 kilometers from the con hotel) and well....first we went into the wrong direction at the station because there were no signs for an exit or for the bus station but we've got that figured out. Then we "argued"about the choice which bus we'd take (Petra doesn't find her parked car even if she stands right in front of it and myself with no orientation sense at all) - my app showed a different bus line than Petra's. We decided to go with mine. And tadaaa - it was the wrong one. So we had to march 1,5 km to our hotel "and I will walk 500 miles..." it definately felt that way. I just wanted to lay down on the sidewalk bc I was in so much pain, my back fired constantly and even with my walker (on wheels) I had to pause every 200 meters or so. If I had listened to Petra and had taken the other bus we'd have had only 150 m to our hotel. After check-in we just fell onto the bed because we were exhausted. Us in our room.

We recovered a bit from our strenuous journey for a few hours before we made us on the way to the con hotel to the registry (open from 4 to 8 p.m). There we arrived without any mishap at about 6.30 p.m and holy fuck...the queue lasted all through the foyer and even further back. But we got lucky to have lovely company while waiting and the line moved forward (very) slowly. And I was so thankful for my baby Cordi (the name of my walker) because I could sit down on it. I wouldn't have lasted with standing all the time. There were a lot more people coming after us in the line and it was already after 8 p.m and some were worried that they would close the registration but I was confident that they wouldn't. They couldn't send away ~ 500 people bc that would have meant even more chaos on Saturday morning. And they continued to register all of us and we finally made it to the counter. It was about 9.30 p.m when we were finished and could finally grab something to eat. When we left the hotel we stumbled about her 🥰

After that little photo session we just went into the McDonalds at Terminal C and then took the skytrain back to the airport train station and we found out that the last bus to our hotel was at 8 p.m. So again we walked. 😩 and then fell into our beds.

Saturday morning I was awake at 6 a.m. I couldn't sleep any longer. THIS WAS THE DAY!

So we left early for the con hotel to attend the opening ceremony and to get a first glance at J2.

I can not describe how I felt, it was anxiety, excitement and anticipation.

First Mark Sheppard, Ty Olsson, DJ Qualls, Osric Chau and Sahin Satchel.

And then THEY WERE REALLY HERE! Jared and Jensen. 🥰 I saw them with my own eyes for the very first time. I have no idea how I was able to take the vid/pic (sorry for the bad quality, remember - last row and taken with my cellphone) bc I was so over the moon.

After the opening ceremony we had plenty of time till the VIP panel, so we visited the overstuffed vendor room. There I found a beautiful Dean Winchester art which I bought as a thank you for Conni (she watched SPN and is a Jensen girl but not a fan in general).

Hey Ally! I’m wondering if you have any recommendations for angsty gatty fics/authors? (I’ve personally coined you the queen of that very specific sub genre haha) and in general, did you have a favorite fic you read (regardless of fandom) in 2023?

Hi! Yes! There are many talented Gatty writers in this fandom and I am so grateful to get to share the same space as them!

Some of my favorites are:

Literally anything and everything that @lookedlikethebins who can be found on AO3 as andfacedown has written - everything hurts SO GOOD

I've also been really enjoying @sundrownsthehouse who can be found on AO3 under the same name.

It's Only Green Where You Water by an anonymous user has absolutely broken me in the best way and I am still obsessed with it even though it hasn't been updated since April - I hope the mystery author is okay! (They have a few other fics listed in the author's notes as well that are also incredible!!)

@0ceanxey3s is another author I really enjoy - and can be found on AO3 as 0ceanxeyes it's more of a general / friendship dynamic between Fictional!Matty and Fictional!George compared to a romantic one but wow do they manage to hurt me in the best way!

@betweenthings2 that can be found on AO3 with the same name has also written some lovely angsty fics!

As always, my all time favorite fic i read in 2023 was Poses by @vinylandcoffeecollection - this is literally my favorite fic in the entire Gatty tag and I have reread it way too many times.

There are SO MANY lovely talented writers in this fandom and this tag and I am sure that I've forgotten some as I just did a quick scroll through my bookmarks tag on AO3! I hope that you enjoy some of these if you haven't read them already! 17. How obsessively do you sit and stare at your fic after you've just posted and wait for feedback?

Oof so this is where I make my confession — the answer is VERY obsessively.

I swipe to refresh for hours — between meetings, between gym reps, half-asleep in the middle of the night — checking to see if the kudos and views go up, and I get such a serotonin boost when I get comment notifications in my inbox. ^_^;

So yeah, I definitely experience also the opposite — getting bummed/down when there’s little engagement. I don’t want to say that to guilt anyone into validating me haha but I know it’s a fairly universal fic writer experience too! The AO3 subreddit has been a nice place to know I’m not alone in that. And it’s also something I’m working on for myself!

Honestly, as a newer author I feel so lucky to get any engagement at all! Especially after my very first fic was a long fic in a small fandom. Writing for BG3 been a very different experience for sure!

43. Talk about a positive experience with fanfiction or the fanfiction community that you will always remember.

I have felt really blessed to have had so many things to smile about — especially ever since rejoining tumblr. I wish I had done it sooner! I’ve found a little community here with readers, shout out especially to those I’ve gotten to chat and ramble with: @avashnea, @lumienyx, @the-cutest-deviant, @thetoastyurge, @agent-jaselin , and @kasumitanart.

I’m going to feel bad for missing anyone because I’m not confident about matching readers’ AO3 names to their tumblr names, but I’ve also been so grateful for @autumnlassitude, @grovyrosegirl, @chamtong, as well as a couple of the others listed earlier for so often leaving enthusiastic comments with every update.

If I didn’t mention you but you know you’re a recurring reader, it wasn’t intentional! Please introduce yourself in the comments so I know who you are! :D I wish I could thank you all individually. ❤️

One positive experience in particular was towards the beginning of my tumblr return when I decided to read a fic of a mutual, touch too much by @lumienyx.

I really loved it and it was the perfect comfort fic that I needed after some post-Mirror, mirror burnout (and generally a stressful week.) After I commented, they quickly replied so sweetly and enthusiastically, mentioning that Tipping the Scales was part of what inspired them to write the fic in the first place! I think I actually got teary-eyed to learn that someone not only loved what I wrote, but was inspired by it!

We then ended up chatting for hours (until like 3 or 4 AM my time haha) and I was just so excited to realize I had truly found my people on here.

So thank you, @lumienyx. :’) 💙 You were exactly who I needed to meet and chat with during the height of writing burnout!

Hi there! I stumbled across your podcast when I was rooting around in Tumblr and it has been one of my best accidental finds! I love the concept and the fact that I get to listen to many of my favourite authors talk about their work. You are wonderful for creating an initiative like this and I will be steadily making my way through your list of episodes ❤️

I have two questions that I was hoping I could ask you about. There’s absolutely no pressure to respond to me if you’d rather not.

1) I wanted to know if you’ve had any POC creators on the podcast? I am particularly interested in their perspective on fandom, so I did a tag search but it didn’t come up with anything - although Tumblr is known notoriously for being wonky with the tag searches.

2) Would you be open to having POC writers on your podcast anytime?

I'm a big open book and all questions are welcome, so I'm really glad you asked! Technically speaking, there is a POC person on every episode, and it's me. I am 1st (and 2nd) generation Chicano. Admittedly it isn't something I talk about very often on the podcast. I think I mentioned it exactly one time during the first Mandalorian episode.

Several of my past fanfiction writer guests have been POC! I won't point out most of them by name without consent, as most of those episodes were focused on the fandoms and fanfictions of those writers and not on POC perspectives specifically, but one I can mention is the episode with DragongirlG. That was our first episode for The Untamed fandom, and DragongirlG offered to give us some thoughts on the fandom as someone who is Chinese diaspora, for which I was very grateful!

I have never outright asked any POC guests to give POC perspectives on fandom without them offering first simply because, at times, it can be an emotionally heavy topic and I don't want any guest feeling obligated since it is nobody's job to educate us.

That being said, if anyone else wants to offer to give POC perspectives on fandom for the show, I welcome that opportunity! We don't shy away from anything on FFM so long as my guest is comfortable and wants to speak about it. POC fanfiction writers are always, always welcome on Fanfic Maverick.
