No addiction thing was for oliveras no? I thought she will have somewhat an interesting arc, but apparently the writer kept her only as mark's occasional caregiver and therapist.

Even if they did not mention the particular name of the tumor, it would be more acceptable. Just mention he has some terminal brain tumor, and later we see it had some rare treatment. But no.... Haas has to show off that he googled the name of one inoperable aggressive form of tumor and gift it to the character whom he needed to do most of the action scenes and clearly was relying on his sole fanbase to let the show stand.

Yeah, they dropped Oliveras addiction and then nothing more was done with it. A moot pointed out that Haas threw darts for the plot 😂 and I guess after the addiction confession the dart landed on an entirely different plotline. 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️

I think Jensen is at the point where he’s just working. It’s not about the craft or passion for acting anymore. It doesn’t sound like he can maintain the lifestyle he’s used to. He’s taking jobs all over the place doing whatever. To me, this is like a person working multiple part time gigs to pay the bills. His acting is taking a back seat. Prime is known for short paying their stars (it’s streaming after all) so it’s not as great to be a star of streaming shows. It sounds like he’s taking what comes his way that is manageable. If he doesn’t have to do heavy lifting, works for him. He collects his pay and leaves for the next. Thinking about it like this is depressing. He looks so tired. The lawsuit probably isn’t helping matters.

He's not broke (yet) but he isn't a good business man. To pay 3 million $ for a song for a shitty show...having a 6 million $ mortgage for a mansion he doesn't even live in. He has to pay Nannies and a housemaid, maybe even a cook. His first wife's "beauty touch ups" are for sure expensive (even if she doesn't look like it) and there's still the lawsuit against him and Danneel personally. If they'll lose at court (trial date is January 2026) then they'll have to pay millions out of their own money. Regarding income, streaming platforms like Amazon or Netflix are known for paying minimum wages. I guess Jensen gets not even 40 % of his SPN income from Amazon. Yes, the con money is good as pocket money to pay the monthly bills, I guess.

Jensen's acting started to decline already in SPN, I'd say season 9 or ten it started to show. It really seems he and Dean melted into each other and now he's stuck. And it seems to get worse with every new role.

I’m a Dean girl but I’ve been loving Jared and Gen lately. They seem like such a healthy married couple. Jared looks so free and heavenly. That’s what happens when you marry someone that supports you! And Gen looks so good too. I’ll always root for them. The Ackles on the other hand look like plastic wannabes. I’m not buying what they’re selling. I was looking at old posts when they announced TW and Walker I. Daniel and Jensen congratulated Jared and themselves while Jared and Gen only acknowledged Walker. AAs were going on about class but like…wasn’t it classless to go behind Jared’s back in the first place and develop a show about Winchesters without telling The Sam Winchester? Fake, the lot of them. I don’t want to put the Pads on a pedestal but they genuinely seem to to be good people.

The Pads are a real family. And look how Jared is thriving since SPN ended and he can spend so much time with Gen and the kids. And they are good people.

The Ackles marriage is dead. I doubt it was ever much alive. It's just so ridiculous how Jensen wants to sell the family man image when he's barely seeing his kids. And whenever he appears in public with his first wife, one wants to put on a winter coat, so icy is their "chemistry".

To prequelgate - I'm still convinced that Danneel was the leak. She was the one who immidiately reposted the article. I'm still shocked how Jensen could hide this from Jared. TW was already in progress when they returned to Vancouver to shoot the final two episodes. "Fun fact" This betrayal now sticks to Jensen like a mark of Cain - at least in the showbiz.

She so obviously has the hots for him and if she would've fucked with him, you can be sure she would let it "slip". She's that kind of gal. And she wouldn't be satisfied with an ONS. She would want to have the full meal ticket. And that's the reason Jensen never slept with her.

Anyone remember (iirc it was last year) when CE put duo ops of her and Jensen on sale? And then those op offers vanished quickly. My money is on: CE wanted to test the waters if they sell and then Jensen got wind of it and he refused to do these ops. 😈

I don’t mind Countdown but I feel like Mark could have been a more interesting character if he were battling an addiction instead of a tumor. There are real people dying of that same cancer and if he were to somehow get past it, it would be in bad taste. Now a drug addiction would be angsty. He was undercover so who’s to say he could have done what he needed to do to survive. Similar symptoms too so he wouldn’t have to change much. He would be more relatable. Instead, we have Dean in a non spn setting going out in a blaze of glory. Yawn. Seen fifteen seasons of that.

I would be on board with the tumor if it were operable but with high risks (blindness, loss of speech/motoric etc) and Mark doesn't want to take them at first. An addiction would've been a good alternative. Withdrawal and high to the gills- but I have my doubts, Jensen would've acted that better. 😫

Regarding always playing Dean - I'm so fed up with his one-trick pony show. I really love Dean but Dean belongs to SPN. Ackles, get your lazy (acting) ass in gear and if you're not capeable to come up with an entirely different character yourself, then get an acting coach.

I am now worried that I am going to AA zone as I have tried a lot to see it with my critical eyes, but I find Jensen fine in countdown. Not a great acting of course, but he is consistent and there are scenes I really liked. Jensen is acting like ‘Jensen’, what I exactly expect from him. Of course I would not expect any emmy level acting here. I can understand the frustration of critics with him, but to say it is his worst acting so far including the parody in French mistake is a bit too reaching… I mean, I have seen him acting worse than this in SPN later seasons itself. He was worse in Dean parody of TW; he overacted so much in Tracker that I couldn’t watch it full. Mark in Countdown is not that bad!

Or I am blind and I have no understanding or intelligence to understand acting quality.

I never watched TW, I have only seen the snippets of his appearances there and maybe I have to agree with you regarding the Dean with beard and turtleneck. That was 100 % Jensen and even himself he acted terrible (I get the beard, he couldn't shave it bc he was filming sth else and had to keep the beard but the turtleneck and the coat? 🤦‍♀️).

He began to "phone it in" in later seasons SPN especially with emotions. I'm still a fan of Michael-Dean, I know many don't like him but I found him good there. For me he was convincingly not Dean. I liked how he changed the voice and the speech pattern. And then Soldier Boy. Still his best acting so far. But the rest? All a mix-up between Dean and Jensen. Beau Arlen at least was likeable and he made me care about him a bit. But Russell and Mark? They are too exaggerated, to overacted for my taste.

I mean, he played versions of Dean on Big Sky and Tracker but on Countdown it's the worst "acting" I've seen of him so far (and that includes the gimmick scene of French mistake), there's no real emotion or vulnerability. It's histrionic and overacted. I really don't know why he doesn't give a flying fuck anymore. With such bad performances, I've set my expectations bar for VR Soldier Boy very low. There'll be no Kripke on set to kick his ass and Jensen already said that 50's SB will be different from current SB. Yeah, well...it will be probably another Dean.😭

Jared has a clause saying he won’t be away from home more than two weeks right? It sounds like he tries to be there for his kids. His favouritism of Odette just seems more like she’s the youngest and the only girl. Like, not as toxic as whatever the Ackles situation is. I wonder if their kids know about what happened on Rust? They seem very scared, and want him home…but that could be because he’s away a lot. I will say that he’s missing his kids growing up. But right now, they seem to love him.

Yes, Gen and Jared made that pact and that's why he doesn't take (leading) offers that would film away from Austin.

I don't know if the twins are aware yet about Rust but JJ is for sure. She has the age of being online or her friends told her about. Yes, Jensen misses out on a lot regarding his kids but he chose this lifestyle 🤷‍♀️

The dynamic between youngest and eldest daughter vying for dad’s attention…I know it well. It’s so toxic. I resented my sister for a long time before I grew up and realized my parents were the problem and were straight up dicks for trying to set us up against each other for their own amusement. At least his son is the boy but the girls? Oooh, I see therapy in their future but if all goes well, they won’t hate each other. I’m not sure why someone would get enjoyment out of that.

I know the resentments, too. I had loving parents and an awesome childhood, I was Daddy's girl (I was the youngest of 4 sisters and 1 brother) but there was rivalry, even more when we were adults.

But we were never pitted against eo like JJ and Arrow. Or were unwanted. Imagine the shock for the twins when they will find out about that. Jensen didn't seem to have a deep bond to Zepp when he was little, at least now there seems to be some father-son time with them.

I have to bring up the Pads, yes, it's clear that Odette is Jared's favourite (Shep seems to be Gen's) but they take we time with every single child. They make sure that each child has quality time with each parent. This is possible bc Jared made his family a priority (Jensen is rarely home, he's just a visiting Dad instead of a hands on one) and he wants to see the kids grow up. I also appreciate that they already send their kids to therapy (I guess they started when Tom? was bullied). They make sure their kids have a safe space where they can talk about issues and gain self-confidence and strength.

For the Ackles - I remember Jensen talking about the twins when they were toddlers, that Arrow already speaks Spanish (Arrow seems to be very smart and ahead of her age) bc at least one of the Nanny's spoke it. And sorry but I don't see Danneel as the mothering type. I guess the kids are raised by Nannies, for her the 3 are tokens - and before someone comes at me again: Yes, the Pads also have at least one Nanny and a housemaid. That's not the issue.
