GANGLE

When will Gangle know happiness... 

KINGER

Kinger was adorable as always. I like how the others can rely on him when they're feeling emotionally vulnerable. That scene with Ragatha and her self-doubt, and how Kinger reassures her? I'm glad he has these moments of clarity. Old man even tries to help Pomni, even if he's bad at it. He's so well intentioned. <3

JAX

Jax is a terrible person. He was already very bad before, but somehow got worse. No care for his companions (Pomni and Gangle mostly), no care for the NPCs (he was very eager to see them die horribly). There's some indication Jax might have cared about Kaufmo, but overall, his attitude is so dissonant. It's hard to understand what's really going on inside his head.

RAGATHA

I like that Ragatha didn't hold any grudges over Pomni abandoning her in episode 1. Ragatha is just so sweet. Constantly worrying for Pomni's well being, being considerate enough to try to cheer up Jax of all people. She makes a huge difference in this group, like a glue that keeps everyone together.

GUMMIGOO

LOVED Gummigoo. Yeah I wasn't prepared for him. I didn't know what to expect of him (he looked like a serious bad guy type?), but what we got was so good. Loves his two gummy gator friends (wants to preserve their minds from the weight of self-awareness). His connection to Pomni, the way they could relate, it was all believable and palpable. Nice guy.

POMNI

Pomni herself was my favorite. Compassionate, empathetic, expressing her thoughts calmly and sincerely. Determined, inventive - trying to find ways to get herself and Gummigoo out of that place. 

I think the fact that she spent most of these two episodes physically separated from everyone else was no coincidence. Pomni was disconnected from them. The dream sequence at the beginning? A reflection of her own doubts and fears. That she's nothing, or that no one in the circus would care if she was gone. So she, either intentionally or by happenstance, distanced herself. 

I'm super happy that the episode ended on a hopeful note. Pomni found that her companions would care for her and remember her, and so it turned her views on her head. She's not alone. She has people that she can rely on.....

KAUFMO

(The Kaufmo funeral was very touching too, especially with Zooble organizing it. I've seen jokes that no one cared much that he died in episode 1, so seeing otherwise was pretty cool.)

FANDOM

I hold no ill will against Caine, and this is coming from someone who really really liked Gummygoo (literally screamed a big NOOO when he poofed). It's a little concerning how feral people are getting about Caine.

CAINE

Speaking of Caine, I need understanding between them, I need it SO bad. He keeps making these little decisions that impact the human characters. Especially Pomni. And he's not even aware of how much it hurts them, or that it's harmful at all!!

The way some of them are so dismissive (Zooble waiting for him to go away), annoyed, or only see Caine as a bot that fixes things when everything goes wrong... it makes me think they've tried to reason with him before, and it didn't work, so now they treat him like the machine he is to them.

As of now, Pomni understands him as much as everyone else does. She's frustrated, she's livid, and she has every reason to want to punch his teeth in. But after episode 2???? Considering how sympathetic Pomni was with Gummigoo, an NPC/AI himself???? I have a little hope that Pomni can actually get through to Caine in the future.

You know,the worldbuilding for hazbin and helluva are interesting but at the same time,I feel a bit bored by it. Sorry,it's just it has potential and all of that but hell is just like a nighttown that you can go there and suffered no consequences. And I know helluva is a spinoff to hazbin hotel except it's just destroys the both meanings of it. Especially since hazbin is about redeeming sinners while helluva boss is just don't get mad at me but just soap opera between an elitist with a peasant. I thought helluva boss is gonna be us seeing the IMP doing their missions and encountered many different challenges on navigating a business not seeing a dramatic retelling yaoi festizhization love story of stolas and blitzo. And with hazbin,it's just I wanna see hazbin having different customers and guests and how they interact with the hotel not a literal fight with heaven of all things. What's next? Do I need to get into getting myself info a lore Livestream of Viv telling us? No,I want subtle storytelling not an Italian soap opera,ah man. Ah,now because of this I have to entertain myself with fans making fanmade comics of both helluva and hazbin hotel and I'm not complaining because let's face it,fans does it better than the creator Viv does.

Vivziepop so quickly strays from her original concepts, and it makes both shows difficult to watch. The last Helluva Boss episode that includes I.M.P. going to Earth on a mission to kill someone is episode 5, ‘Unhappy Campers,’ and that was only Millie and Moxxie. The last time the whole team went was episode 4 of season 1! Helluva Boss is now just a show about Viv’s twinks and kinks. I genuinely think I’ve seen enough of Stolas for a lifetime. There’s so much potential with a show like this, and I would have loved to see Helluva Boss explore both Hell and the Human World, but it does neither. There are so many ways this show could be executed to explore the worlds and character dynamics, but we barely even know anything about how these characters interact with each other.

Hazbin Hotel does the same thing. We have the possibility to explore Hell and Heaven, but we don’t. Hazbin Hotel is also supposed to be more about the women characters, but we know very little about Charlie, Vaggie, Niffty, or any of the other women; we instead get episodes about Husk, Alastor, Lucifer, Angel, Vox, and Val. Hazbin was supposed to be about new people coming to the hotel to learn about redemption. The only person we actually get is Sir Pentious, who doesn’t even change or learn anything about virtue and redemption. We also kind of get Cherri, but she isn’t even part of the hotel. 8 whole episodes for two official people in the hotel. I’d rather we see people coming to the hotel and learning about redemption for an entire season instead of the drama we see go down with Adam and Heaven.

Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss just move WAY too quickly. I think it’s even difficult for fans to write fanfics and comics about these characters because they have nothing to go off of. Almost none of the characters have personalities, and we don’t know how they interact with each other. However, I do think that Viv’s Hell is an interesting world. I just wish it was explored more. We’ve only see a few of the rings, met a few of the sins, and seen very little of Hell at all. I have no hope that Hazbin Hotel or Helluva Boss will be better shows, the only hope I have is that in 30 years, someone reboots these shows, and actually makes them good.

Also, the way he talks, the sound of his voice, the words he uses, his pronunciation, if there were awards for talking he would get one

The languages he speaks, I want to study him, linguistically, he is truly a phenomenon

I just wanted to say that I am really envious of the way you write the Vees. As someone who struggles with making characters woobiefying and with characterization in general, I appreciate how you can write these characters perfectly that the show didn’t have time to portray. I didn’t have a specific request, but now I was wondering if you could give me some advice on how to analyze and write a character, even if you have a personal bias towards them?

Awww thank you so much ❤️ I don't have like any degree in literature or anything that would give me credibility in giving writing advice, usually I just go with the flow. But I'll do my best!

Imo the most fundamental thing is the way you think about characters. In fandom spaces, we very often see them as "people we like" - hence all the discourses like in Valentino's case "if you like him it means you are a bad person". I think that woobification is influenced by this cognitive dissonance caused by liking characters that should be unlikeable. For me the way out of it was giving up "characters as people" mindset and changing it for "characters as tools". Bacause that's what they are - tools you use to build your narrative. When I say I love Valentino I don't mean I would shake his hand - I mean he's my favourite toy I can do multiple things with. And it's his flaws that make him so much fun. Because outside of the comedy genre, narrative cannot exist without conflict. The more flaws a character has, the more conflict it causes. That's why villains are such a powerful driving force for stories (here are some great essays about it: 1, 2). Put any character in the room with Val and you have an interesting bit not only because of the usual character differences that could happen between eg. Vaggie and Husk but also because stakes suddenly become high. What will he do? Will he hurt them? We saw what he's capable of. Will he be nice? Man, that's even worse because it means he has his own motive to be nice. What might it be? That's what keeps the audience engaged with your writing. Extra points if you give him some human weaknesses or conflicting desires. When it comes to characterization, nuance is the key. That's why I love VoxVal so much - two characters that are absolutely awful but they are fiercely in love. How could Valentino be capable of simply caring about someone but himself? What kind of human is buried underneath all this evil? So much to unpack here. Nothing I'd like to experience but everything I'd like to see from a safe distance. Consider: would you even like the Vees so much in the beginning if they were just other guests at the hotel? In the show, neither of them has a single redeemable quality. And yet, here we are.

When it comes to writing characteristics it's also important to watch characters from different perspectives - that helps with giving them nuance. Let's take Vox. People seem to like and respect him, he's obviously an influential figure (he has a lot of social power). But from Alastor's perspective, he's just a pathetic little attention-seeking looser (he has a fragile ego and lowe self-esteem). Yet his assistant seemed to be scared shitless while talking to him (he had done things that made people from his closer look aware that he's dangerous). Angel knows he watches his abuse and hangs out with Valentino (at best he's indifferent to other's suffering, at worst he enjoys it). Carmilla doesn't respect him but they are on terms good enough, Vox wants to do business with her (he's a competent business partner). For the rest of Vees he's smart enough to listen to him but at the same time he's their cringefail naurospicy bestie. Add all of those perspectives together and you have yourself a multidimensional character that can interact with other elements of the narrative in vastly different ways. Also, from that point you can build up, asking yourself other questions "What would they think/do/say?".

Also, the last thing: every character needs a clear goal that influences all their decision. Choose it and always keep it in mind. Bonus points: a character has two main goals that are contradictory. When I write Vox he has two goal: power and adoration. He always has to choose which one is more important to him because while he has measures to achieve great power, some things that he would want to do are socially undesirable. In Valentino's case: hedonistic pleasure and immediate gratification vs love for Vox that demands sacrifices and compromises.

So anyway I hope that will be helpful to you <3 And don't be too hard on yourself when it comes to writing, not everything must be Game of Thrones. Especially in fandom spaces, sometimes we all want to indulge in some simple fluff or crack.

It bothers me a lot when i see people down play Husk's abuse in the show. Some of them even imply that he actually deserves to be in the situation he's in.

I think this all stems from the Valentino vs. Alastor, in which of them is the worst person. This is a horrible debate. There is no real way to judge who is the least evil person because that's not really an objective thing. It's even more stupid when you notice that we don't even see all that Alastor does to Husk. He 100% did worst things with him, especially when he first got his soul.

I do understand why the comparison since the show frames some moments as parales between Husk's and Angel's situations. Their experiences are similar and intertwined. However, there are differences in their experiences, and the main difference is the themes that Angel and Husk have and are exploring to the audience.

Angel has never really done anything really bad in Hell. The only 2 things that he's done are cross Husks boundaries and killing some egg boys in a war for territory. He was tricked by Valentino into this situation, and his only real sin is using drugs. He can easily redeem, and he is going in that direction, remove Val, and then he would be redeemed prety quickly.

Husk is not that easy to redeem because he thinks he can't be redeemed. He hates himself for betting his soul and for possessing souls know that he knows how bad and evil that act really is even if he only gambled with them and never did nothing to the people he possessed. He thinks he is irredeemable even though he only does good actions in the show. He helps Angel multiple times with his problems, he encourages Angel to redeem himself, he puts other people's lives first in fights, and protects them, he takes care of Niffty when she's drunk, he always listens to people's problems and gives advices and even confronts Alastor beacouse he's worried that Mimzy could bring harm to the hotel just to get treated horribly by his boos.

Despite all the good he does, he still doesn't think he can be redeemed, so he doesn't even try "I'm not the one trying to get into heaven" -episode6. He has actually done bad things, and because of the suffering he endures, he can't see thar he has actually become a nice selfles person. He is very human in that sense. The idea that people pass that "o he's a hypocrite for owning souls him self in the past" or "Alastor doesn't even treat him that badly" is absurd to me.

The point is that no one deserves to be abused like he is, and if you can't see that he's actually suffering abuse, then you are just blind or choosing not to see it. Husk deserves a second chance as he's seen the error of his ways "I know what it's like to regret the choices made"-episode 4. He doesn't deserve to be abused like this. Who is worse, Val or Alastor? It does not matter. They both are monsters who should not treat people like that. That being not so sutelly shown to us by Wendigo=monster, Alastor becomes Wendigo there for Alastor=Monster

Both of them are vilains, and that's it. Don't go downplay someone's abuse just because you think the guy doing it is cool or because you think other people suffered more.

Alastor! He's a serial killer and cannibal in every AU I make unless otherwise stated. Some AU will include Al being trans, having epilepsy, or severe scarring and sometimes migraines. Eating disorder in the fact he mainly eats humans and starves a lot of the time

Nifty in every AU will be Alastors little sister, be it through found family or actual adoption. She is also a cannibal and a nurse unless otherwise stated. Every AU she lost her eye while being sex trafficked.

Rosie and Husk are Always going to be Exes, be it married or dating, but exes. Rosie is a cannibal, Husk isn't he just helps his family hide evidence. In certain AU they're Nifty and or Al's adoptive parents/found family parent's in others they are just older friends who are protective and the mom/dad friend. Rosie is a psychologist and Husk a bartender, most AU they're gonna be ex military

So, yes I see harvesting purple cords for Lolicia like someone who do gardening but like a professional. Like someone who have collection of carnivorous plants and flowers, for exemple, will stay a lot of time in their garden, observe the plant, give them food, even draw them or write their eating schedule ? Or gardening bonsai (little Japanese trees) needs a lot of 'care' to not die immediately. Attending the purple cords would be like that!

Oh, that is what you mean ! Hum... what can I tell without spoiling... okay I have some personality traits and habits for Lolicia :

  - Lolicia is a good listener

  - Lolicia can enter in a phase of 'stillness' where she can't move for days, without eating/drinking/functioning in general. And she is just there, motionless, the time pass and she can't see it passing so from time to time she can be a bit confused of what the heck is happening around her when she "awakes".

That can put her into position when someone could have tell her something when she was motionless, thinking she was listening to them but not at all. I think it can be annoying for people to deal with it. The trick is to double check if she is responding or call her name.

  -  Lolicia's mind is like a line with two bubbles at each side. This sides are called 'extreme'. And on this line there is a little ball that move back and forth between the extremes. Most of the time it is kept that way. Its a balance and its nice.

Left side is extreme compassion, and understanding, and its just amazing and lucky would be the Chosen One to keep the ball in that bubble, in Lolicia's presence. It never happened yet. There was only one person who was able to be very close to that extreme, for now.🌸

Right side is extreme violence and nobody wants to make the ball go into this bubble. Alastor did it once and he still remembers it.

- If Lolicia is touched and didn't expect it and doesn't like the person who did it, the red scales of her body slip off and it needs an entire day to grow back and she hates it and probably that would put the person on the wrong extreme of her mind.

(fun fact : it's because 'deep-sea anglerfish skin is grimy black or gray and fragile, without scales. In fact, their skin is so thin it can slip off their bodies when touched by human hands retrieving them from deep-ocean nets'.)

  - Once Lolicia is... confortable with someone she plays a lot. She will make energy for the playtime and be a bit faster than her usual slow pace for this person. She plays with the mind and physically, testing dominance and trying to see how the supremacy is doing.

  - Lolicia don't sleep inside the bed or on thr bed or under the cover. Lolicia sleeps curled up on top of the pillow.

The way you explained they relationship with Purple cord was really nice.And for some reason, I think Lolicia could buy themself a garden like Stolas' garden in Hell, if possible.

A Fizziepop Take: Let's talk about one helluva boss teaching a demon princess to kill...?

Ok, I love this ask! The idea of Charlie interacting in Blitz is everything I didn't know I needed in all the right ways.

I think Charlie and Blitz would actually get along really well because he would remind Charlie a lot of her friends from the hotel, and I think Blitz would find her kind and overall gentle nature comforting and he would see a lot of Loona's sweeter side in that. If they were to interact, I definitely can Charlie trying to talk to Blitz about "redemption" in a sense of trying to get him to better himself despite his permanent residence in hell since he is hellborn like her, and I think she would kinda scold him for adding to the overpopulation problem in hell by probably sending more souls down to them with his business.... But Blitz being Blitz would absolutely try to bring her over to "the dark side" by showing her that what he and the others do at IMP isn't that bad.

I could see Charlie being interested in Blitz's job considering he does murder for hire but for the most part, the people who come to him seem to have some legit reasons for wanting the target dead (like the guy in "Unhappy Campers" who wanted them to take out whoever killed him). While she wouldn't like the fact that he is adding to the overpopulation problem in hell and she would still see it as "mean", I think she could actually make a kickass assassin.... in very, very specific situations. Regardless of how the person was wronged or what they paid, I don't think Charlie would have the heart to kill someone who she thought could be redeemed in the end, especially not a living human, but looking back at how Charlie reacted to witnessing Angel's abuse at the hands of Valentino in the "Masquerade" episode of Hazbin Hotel, I think she could take someone out who was already in hell and who was there for things like abuse or someone like Val who was a powerful being in hell and still resorted to physical abuse the way Val does to keep his control over his underlings. Despite that just being how things are done, Charlie would feel like there's a gentler way to command respect and authority and I think on some level she knows that while there could be a chance for redemption for some demons, not every soul in hell is going to be able to be redeemed, and I think at some point for the sake of trying to make her home a better place and fix the overpopulation problems they're having, she would see taking demons like Val out as something that had to be done. I think if Blitz tried to teach her for that reason and focused on just killing other demons, she would be able to do it no problem... but she's way too nice to do it just to do it or traveling to the human world the way the IMP gang does ... And since she would mostly work on killing other demons, I think Striker would be a better teacher for her if I'm honest.

But if she didn't have the hotel, and she wasn't on this whole redemption kick the way she is, I don't think she'd be able to do any of this at all. She's a little too softhearted for it and it would probably weigh on her pretty heavily, especially since her father probably made sure the worst things in their realm never got close enough to taint her innocent and optimistic view of most things and people so I don't think she would be able to process killing anyone as quickly as she would need to in order to be good at the job.

'Useless' Valentino Headcanons

TW: ... physical abuse, typical Val topics. He's a villain and this touches a tiny bit into his psyche.

During life, Val owned two tropical birds: a rose-ringed (green) parakeet and a red parrot. Both of them outlived him. His first bird was given to him by his sugar daddy, which subconsciously influenced Val into gifting Fat Nuggets to Angel Dust.

Valentino collects expensive sports cars and hot rods, but isn't allowed to drive them because of his poor eyesight, even though he knows how. Sometimes, he does it anyway. The cars are technically Val's, but the other two Vees use them more than he does.

If someone dislikes Val or makes him feel replaced, he will assume that it is because of some kind of physical shortcoming of his and not even consider that it may be his personality or actions that's turning them off. Everything is a personal jab.

For the most part, Val loves his demon form, but is extremely self-conscious about the fact that he does not have hair. He had long, black hair in life (see younger dash game human Val ) and feels like he got snubbed by not having any. Sometimes, he gets jealous of sinners whose eyes have pupils.

Valentino is not the smartest Vee, but is much more clever than he acts. If he is acting stupid around you, it is: A. an attempt to pacify or win special treatment, friendship, or affection, B. a manipulation tactic or attempt to purposely annoy (which he loves doing! annoying others is a pastime!), or C. he genuinely enjoys your company. It could be a mix of many.

If it is someone he does not control, and attacking/scaring them is not an option, Valentino uses flirting to placate... much like Angel does.

Val and Angel come from similar beginnings, but turned into vastly different people.

Val genuinely loves Vox, in his own questionable way, even if he is often bored of him and isn't the best to him. It does not make it better, but any violence toward Vox is a spur-of-the-moment emotional outburst, and is not a decided-upon attempt to hurt him, unlike with Angel. Val eventually comes back around and feels guilty if Vox is suffering because of him, even if he acts childish about it to his face. Val isn't a great (or even good) partner, but he does want to see Vox thrive. There are certain lines that he would never cross with Vox.

Val never loved Angel, but was (and is) extremely physically attracted to him. Physically, he would choose Angel over Vox.

Velvette is viewed as a platonic life partner, and she is probably the one person who Val is consistently the most wholesome with.

Val died between 1976 and 1978, at the age of 38.

In spite of his line of work, Valentino is very immature about many things the concept of marriage and thinks it's "grody" - to the extent of covering his eyes and making gagging noises at marriage scenes in movies.

Hey! I'm so sorry this is running so late, Nonny, I meant to reply sooner than this but I tend to get distracted super easily. I've got the ADHD pretty bad and in my past life I was the goldfish that made scientists think they all had five second memories.

At any rate, I have quite a few Hellaverse OCs! A lot of fankids and then quite a few surrounding Ozzie or Valentino. I've been working more with the ones that deal with Val, lately, which are mostly Darío, Ostello, and Anya!

The main OCs I have are Ostello, Anya, Darío, Ozzie's Parents (Abstemiounessa and Valore), Archangel Uriel, Leviathan, Magpie, Vick, and then a few others that I don't do much with. I also have fankids but that may be for another time.

I literally just reworked Ostello's bio and took it from 364 words to 1,101 words and updated a lot of information that had become wrong as I wrote him. Anya recently got upgraded from OC that I didn't really do anything with to OC that I'm using a lot more.

When Anya was alive, she worked in a veterinarian’s office that saw a lot of exotic pets owned by bad people. There were all kinds of things that she had to overlook in her line of work, including humans that had bullet wounds or other such injuries. She doubled as a nurse when she had to, and learned how to take care of human and animal injuries alike. Always having been nurturing and gentle, she was well-loved by the Russian mafia in her town in Belarus and ended up getting married to a lower-ranking member after tending to him for one summer.

She was shot on their wedding day when a rival cell infiltrated the wedding and killed as many of the people there as they could. She died holding her lover’s hand, and vowing revenge. This never came to fruition.

Meeting Valentino not long after she fell, Anya was hired on to be his PA after she ended up gentling him through an injury that he obtained in a turf war. She happened to be there at the time, and he decided having a medically minded personal assistant would be a good idea. She sold her soul to him, and being an important member of his team, she was given the golden tooth that Angel Dust and Val both had. She is in love with Valentino, but he only sees her as a friend. She’s mostly okay with this because it’s worth it just to be near him. It is her job to handle most things that Vox doesn’t handle for him. This can be anything from cast lists to work schedules to bartending if he needs someone to cover a shift. If Val needs it done, she’ll do it.

Her snakes are Frog Eating Rat Snakes, and because of this, they have bacteria in their mouths. If she bites you, it is an immediate, violent, and disgusting case of leprosy that can kill in minutes. She has only ever bitten three people, and she usually doesn’t, but she will absolutely do it if it is necessary.

Anya is very nosy and always likes to be up on the latest gossip and whatever juicy things are going on around Val. She will pry into his business while she takes care of him while he’s drunk so she is abreast of the latest drama.

When he was alive, his name was Oscar Lawrence. Oscar was the son of Ruth and Samuel Lawrence, their only child. Marty was his father’s best friend, his right-hand man in the fire department, and his wife’s affair partner. Oscar knew about the affair for approximately a year before his father died on Christmas day when he was ten years old. A year after his father’s death, Marty was his stepfather, and while he never held any express animosity toward him, he never called Marty his father. His mother and Marty had two kids together who were twelve and fourteen years younger than he was, and he was never particularly close to his half-siblings.

At seventeen, he had dropped out of school and gone to work in a club in Omaha. He was discovered singing one of the numbers from a nightly show while cleaning by his boss, who loved his sound and gave him his own attempt at playing a show one Saturday night. For starters, he did a few covers of things that he had heard and ended the night on a song he’d written himself. His lyrics were filled with a longing he became known for, a desire for something he could never have. It became something that was so Oscar Lawrence to long, to pine so genuinely and openly that it was impossible to separate from him. So much of his music was about barely scraping his fingertips against the thing he longed for, and nobody could ever quite get out of him what it was.

When he was twenty, he met Olivia, his wife-to-be. She fell for him, hard and fast, and he never felt much. But it was a suspicious thing for a man his age not to have a wife, and he liked Olivia enough to live with her. Oscar was rarely home, out touring and recording a lot, but at twenty-one their daughter, Gertrude “Gertie” Rose Lawrence was born. He rarely saw her, and when he was home, he was usually sad and drunk. Gertie doesn’t remember much of her dad, but his biggest sin with her was neglect. He never rose his hand against her or her mother, and he was never particularly cruel.

However, he did cheat on his wife. Often while he was on tour, he could sleep with any woman that wanted him in ways he found impossible to do with his wife at home. Like many singers of his time, he also had a stage presence on the silver screen. Much like he found many temporary replacements for his wife, he found a semi-permanent replacement for his daughter as a mentor to Shirley Temple.

If there was something as Oscar Lawrence as pure, unadulterated longing, it was a desire to run from what he did have with that same desperation.

His biggest sin in life was that he was gay in a time when that was very highly frowned upon, and it was a well-kept secret. Nobody knew about it, and he never once acted on it while he was alive.

When he died in 1944, it was a slow, painful, and disorienting death alone in a hospital half a country away from his family. His wife and daughter flew out to see him just in time to say goodbye, and he couldn’t recall who they were. He died of acute liver failure that had progressed under the radar of his manager who had been busy working him through the holidays.

Olivia sued the company for negligence that led to her husband’s death, and she and Gertie continued to never want for anything but the man whom they owed their cushy lives to. Neither could say they knew him before he died, and after they would know him even less.

Oscar sort of expected to fall into Hell, and when he did, he was unsurprised. For a few months, he just tooled around, feeling out his new abilities and appearance as a badger. He discovered early on that he had pyrokinesis and it was something of a novelty for a while.

One night while walking the streets and experimenting with it in the lonely hours of the morning, he gave a fireball too much juice and shot an Overlord on her way back from a big deal. He didn’t expect it, and it led to a huge fight between the two of them in which Ostello accidentally became the victor. It was a hard fight and when her gun was knocked from her hands, he managed to grab it in the ensuing wrestling for it. Unbeknownst to him, it was loaded with holy bullets, and ended in her demise.

Her attendants, who had scattered during the fight, came to him to tell him that he was now in charge of her territory as long as nobody else took it, and he took the responsibility fairly seriously. This didn’t stop him from pursuing a musical career on top of the weapons dealing, of course, but it was somethingi that he did want to do to the best of his ability.

Ostello, as he eventually renamed himself, became a rather beloved fixture of the Pentagram. He was hard to upset and treated his workers with dignity and respect. They were paid well, especially those who gathered holy metals during the Extermination, and he never went so far as to treat any of them cruelly.

He worked with Alastor to produce radio shows and sang live several times for him. When Vox eventually came around, Ostello left Alastor’s employ to work under a label that Vox owned. He performed for him there, with concerts and other such things, until the day he was killed. His music is still fairly popular and played in several Voxtech buildings.

In 1972, he met Valentino, and in two months married the moth. He was a devoted husband who wanted nothing more than to make his wife happy, and he spent the next eight years absolutely enamored by him. However, Valentino had never really been in love with him, and in 1980 used a holy spearhead pilfered from Ostello’s own armory to kill him.

Due to his love for Valentino driving him to be a much, much happier and better person, when he died he was reincarnated in Heaven. He dislikes Heaven very much because he misses Valentino and was reunited with Olivia. He does not know that Gertie is in Hell. He has been watching Valentino in Hell for years and is abreast with the latest things going on in his life at all times.

A prominent Val creator that I happen to respect a lot hopped into my DMs with screenshots of a couple of my posts highlighting some gifs, and took it upon themself (pronouns left ambiguous for anonymity) to explain the difference between the apparent debate between ✨reblogging✨ and ✨reposting.✨

I will preface by saying I did not even know this was a thing. Being someone who is not a gif creator, I didn't know there were unspoken rules about this.

I have been on Tumblr since April. April. Yeah, that's right.

A little over three months. Some of these people have been here for years, and as we all know, this platform is a wild place. Rules aren't always clear and there's new ones added almost daily.

I don't have that many people who interact with me on a personal, intimate level aside from reblogs and likes, so there's actually no one to educate me, or even offer a "hey, this is a thing, watch your six."

But I will make it ✨VERY✨ clear.

There was never any malicious intent on my end about reposting gifs. I genuinely apologize to whomever this has affected.

I am a gif saver and use them in my personal, non-tumblr messages, and I had absolutely no idea that using them on tumblr outside of reblogging was even a thing. For this to be considered theft absolutely blows my mind in an enlightening way (don't take the expression in a condescending way) and I am genuinely baffled that people would ✨intentionally✨ do that to other creators. With GIFS.

GIFS. The cutest, fluffiest, funnest way to communicate.

My lawd.

But, I digress.

Please, chalk this offense of mine up to ignorance. I am a 28-year-old adult and will take responsibility for my actions, and will own up to my mistakes.

But I will not simply lay down and accept blame for the hell of it because blame is being dolled out.

I will explain myself before the court of my peers.

Don't hang people out to dry without allowing them a defense. ✨That✨ is being a good human, that is being gracious and what true education looks like.

People in a court of actual law are innocent until proven guilty, and it should be that way here, on a ✨platform.✨

Full stop, end story.

After some clarification, this user (they are not a mutual, I follow them but they do not follow me) did not have damning intent (as best I can tell) and was not malicious in their bringing this to my attention.

To them, thank you for the cautionary warning, it's taken under advisement loud and clear.

Please allow new people to make mistakes and give them grace.

Tumblr is a big, overwhelming, and sometimes terrifying place. Many of us are geriatric users who don't want to stir tea or intentionally step on toes, and we don't deserve to be crucified for mistakes at the altar of the masses.

This isn't to stay that I don't understand. I get that a sour apple ruins the bushel. I know.

As a writer and a creator, I know.

But the exception isn't the rule, and it certainly isn't the majority.

Allow people to make mistakes. Give them the benefit of the doubt. We are innocent until we're proven guilty.

No hard feelings, mutuals and users and people of the interwebs.

**edit to add– we talk about creators not creating because their stuff gets misinterpreted and handled. Creators and beneficiaries complain about people not creating anymore. While all those claims are true, condemning newbies and those who want to create but are anxious and nervous about it does nothing but make it even harder to grow the balls to post in the first place. I, being someone who doesn't really care about the opinions of others to begin with and just creates because it burns within me and I love it, am the exception. Most of the time people aren't like me. Be careful with new people on this platform, they could very well be your next favorite creator, but you may not know that if you crush their soul and affirm their anxieties. End story.

6. Do they have pet names for each other? Do they like them?

Not so sure that these quite fall under pet names, but Five's one to call Roslynd, "My love/dear/darling" very very frequently in his smooth Kaasi accent that would make anyone melt like butter. It also isn't a pet name but he's one of the only people to call Roslynd by her full name instead of Ros, which in its own way carries a bit of intimacy.

For Roslynd, she knows that Five has gone by his cipher designation for so long that calling him Val (very rarely Valetyn) in of itself is like calling him by a more intimate name. I think the most pet-namey she gets with him is "my love/love" consistently. But she's also absolutely come up with the most ridiculous nonsense known to man that makes Five stop in his tracks and go "WHAT did you just call me??"

11. What good do they bring out in each other?

OOF so much. They both bring out so much good in each other. Roslynd grounds Five a lot, especially when they first reconnect and he's still actively in the field. She reminds him of his humanity, that he's not just a weapon. She also brings out a sense of humor in him, albeit dry. Five is a very serious person who often takes things very literally and Ros helps him loosen up a bit, get a bit more mischief in him.

In their Academy days, Roslynd brings Five out of his shell. He was very content to work-aholic his way through training and exist on his own, but Roslynd (aside from challenging him academically in their little rivalry) dragged him out away from studies and that's how he met his core group of friends, such as Rhys.

Conversely, Five brings out a mellower side of Roslynd. She's very intense in a very high energy way, and Five's quieter form of intensity tends to balance her out. They're both lovely counter balances to each other. Roslynd also finds that Five brings out a softer side of her, one who isn't as sharp and down-to-business.

15. What habits or characteristics have they picked up from each other?

Roslynd has picked up getting way too attached to the agents from Five.

Roslynd picked up making her office less clinical and more home-y from Five. She didn't realize she could bring in softer lamps that don't give her headaches until she went into his for the first time and went "WAIT you changed the lighting??" xD

Ros has definitely found herself accidentally falling into some of Five's mannerisms in conversation, such as his nonverbal acknowledgements or irritated "hmphs" (you know when you're around someone long enough you start picking up their vocabulary as your own?)

Five has definitely picked up on things from Ros, he's just refusing to offer them up in my brain.

25. Who said “I love you” first?

This might be unexpected, but Five :3

In their Academy days when they had their 'right person wrong time' thing going, Roslynd voiced how much she cared for Five and it was painfully obvious that he's in denial head over heels for her but was never voiced as "I love you".

By the time they begin working together again, Roslynd is just so relieved to have Five back in her life while still recognizing there's several years of trauma now on the shoulders of the man she loved/loves and she doesn't know if he still feels the same. So she is generally content to just things take their course and go where they may. It's Five who finally takes that step and admits his love for her and they go from there!

Do you believe in God, Val?

Dear anon, you ask me about a tricky subject to discuss & I hope I won’t hurt anyone’s feelings or beliefs in my reply… This is my personal point of view about God, everyone is free to disagree, but any hater’s aggressive comment will be deleted.

I was raised in a pious catholic family, but I have always practiced religion  more as a tradition than as a true faith. Growing up, I gradually gave up. Well, I don’t believe in God strictly speaking, but I think there is some universal energy out here that we can rely on. I practice reiki for instance, within my intimate circle of family and friends.

I also believe in the power of the human mind, which is capable of creating well-being or its opposite, of bringing relief & comfort as well as angst. I wanted to become a psychologist, but for several reasons I could not achieve my goal.

As a conclusion, maybe believing in God might have soothed me from angst & mental suffering, but I can’t force myself to have faith in God. The very idea of someone or something driving  my life beforehand is unbearable to me.

Freedom and free will are very important to me, even if it means making mistakes. Life is not a long quiet river, but somehow I manage to live a good life 😌
