He pasado aproximadamente 12 años jugando League of legends, dentro de esos 12 años no tengo ningún número fijo para calcular exactamente cuanto tiempo he pasado jugando/pensando en el juego, pero, si es como hoy en día, pienso en un aproximado de más de 10 horas al día.

Pensando en league of legends, en un promedio mensual (donde el mes tiene 720 horas) al mes he de pasar 6 horas al día en promedio, contando que hay días en los que no tengo tan presente el juego, eso da en total (aproximadamente) 180 horas al mes, que en total a lo largo de 12 años, se convierte en 25,920 horas.

Voy a tomar como ejemplo este artículo para presupuestar el dinero que pude haber hecho en esos años.

Hay una métrica específica sobre el valor monetario que tiene la felicidad de un individuo en una relación amorosa, $4,000 usd al año, de los 12 años que he jugado este juego solamente 3 he estado en una relación amorosa, he estado en relaciones de amistad pero, no han sido emocionalmente nutritivas, y mi tiempo se trasladó a otro juego donde compartía tiempo con "amigos", entre comillas porque después de un tiempo me fui dando cuenta de cosas que no me significan un cuidado dentro de la relación, empecé a buscar eso en mis relaciones y he sido más feliz así. Dado que no prioricé mi felicidad no contaré esos años como válidos. Entonces son 9 años en los que pude ser más feliz con mis relaciones, en lugar de enfocarme en league of legends, lo cual implica una pérdida de 699,404.40 pesos mexicanos.

Para este calculo no voy a tomar en cuenta las skins en juego, iconos o rango o cualquier otra cosa que pueda contener valor. Solamente me voy a enfocar en el tiempo, aunque eso me genere estrés y me haga cuestionar mis decisiones de vida. El objetivo de esto es revalorar mi tiempo, darle valor al tiempo pasado para apreciar más el tiempo futuro, usarlo bien antes de que se vaya, apreciarlo.

Si es verdad que cuando uno hace cosas que le llenan, esto atrae a la gente. Como moscas a la luz, sin la connotación negativa y asquerosa que tienen las moscas.

Es un trabajo de fe, que de alguna manera es un cierre también.

Cerrar una etapa, con el league of legends, decirle adiós a este juego que tanto me ha dado y valorarlo como tal, encontrando una manera de comunicar y mostrar lo que significó para mí. Un sandbox del mundo, donde me volví un dolor de huevos para muchas personas, me divertí, competí, me reí, grité, grité muchas veces, aprendí muchísimas cosas de la humanidad y de mi mismo.

Muchas veces no estamos viendo las cosas como son realmente, y queremos rendirnos (desafortunadamente esto también pasa en el mundo real), hay una especie de fe en cada partida de LoL que, honestamente no tiene cabida, es una fe barata, con una retribución vacía. Cada partida está vacía, cada jugada está vacía, pero en la vida también las cosas están vacías, todo lo que signifique se lo estamos poniendo en nuestras cabezas y desafortunadamente no es nada obvio.

Es solo un juego.

Pero, este juego me ha forzado a mirar. A detenerme, fijarme en lo que está sucediendo en frente de mí, sin importar lo exaltado que esté. Para buena o mala fortuna, empecé a ver que mi vida es la que se está yendo. Vi que cada partida que juego algo descuido en mi vida, en el mejor de los casos pierdo dinero, pero en el peor, pierdo amistades, amor y también me he llegado a perder a mí mismo.

Intentando definirme a través de este juego nunca me voy a encontrar, yo no soy el campeón que uso, ni el rango máximo al que he llegado, mi valor está en otro lado, y aquí nunca lo voy a encontrar.

I haven't watched any TAS yet (nor finished most of the other shows, as I said I only really got started last year so I have a lot to catch up on and right now the only ones I've finished even a full season of (I jump around based on interesting episode plots and I know many spoilers already anyway so I've still watched later eps of most series) are Lower Decks and Prodigy which I've watched in full and wow this bracket got way too long, sorry) but from what I understand it's where Bob April first appeared, right? It must be so cool to have a character you grew up with that you can still love and see new adaptations of! I used to have characters like that actually, until JKR revealed her transphobia 😔 Oh well...

Yep! The name "Bob April" used to be a trivia question that even most casual Trekkies couldn't identify. That's changed forever now thanks to SNW, but it's been my nom de Internet too long to give up, now.

TAS is worth watching, but only after TOS. The animation, coloring (by a literal color-blind colorist), and especially the music are atrociously bad. But the plots are honest-to-IDIC real Trek stories, by real Trek writers and SF authors, stripped down to bare essentials to fit a 22 minute format. But shrinking them down like that relies on you already knowing the characters pretty well from watching TOS. If you try it and can't get past the flaws, the Alan Dean Foster adaptations are worth checking out. I'm about to finish S4 of a VOY rewatch, so I'm gradually refreshing my memory of Neelix as we speak. I'm not a big Neelix fan. His relationship with Kes was cringe-inducing, both from the age/experience gap and his vicious jealousy. But he does have some good bits scattered here and there, and is showing character growth. Much like Wesley Crusher, the actor is betrayed by the writing, but the character is definitely filling a needed role, even now that he's well past knowing anything about the territory they're traveling through.

I really want to get into star trek but I have no idea where to start and you seem like you know quite a bit.

I was wondering if you could tell me where the best place to begin is cause I've heard some varying opinions.

i know chronological makes the most sense in terms of storyline but honestly i would start with TOS. it's a classic and it's in the middle chronologically but it's a damn good show and it's not really confusing to watch for anyone new to the franchise. i'd say TOS and then chronological*

To our knowledge, only the Enterprise (all versions of it), the Defiant, Voyager, and a small handful of others run into issues. I should bust out my episode guide (that only covers TOS through S4 DS9 & S2 VOY), then look up the rest on Memory Alpha and compile a full list of ships that meet an untimely fate.

Of course, that does mean I’d have to acknowledge the garbage that was Enterprise, with Scott Bakula, and it’s GLARING plot hole in the first five minutes of the pilot, and I REALLY don’t want to do that…

Still, it is quite tempting. Maybe some day…

The best thing about Star Trek is that there are two possibilities:

1. All of Starfleet is like this. Every ship keeps getting stuck in negative space wedgies where they become their own parents and accidentally marry JFK while learning a lesson about what it means to be human, every week

2. Only the ships/stations we see are like this. Most ships spend their time ferrying diplomats around, delivering supplies, and charting nebulae. The diplomats never have a dark secret that endangers the ship. The supplies get there in time, and they never have to play a deadly game with a sufficiently advanced alien to survive, and the nebulae? Beautiful, but they're just a bunch of ionized hydrogen and assorted space dust. They never conceal a romulan battle fleet ready to invade Thrackus VII that's only uncovered because a teenager accidentally beats them all at space checkers.

These are the only two possibilities. And they are both hilarious.

Either there's an entire interstellar organization that's constantly tripping into weird science shit and plots against the universe and alien worlds where everyone has to eat their shoes or they are put to death...

Or there are like 8 ships out there which are just SO WEIRD and the rest of the organization is like "oh God not them again. We sent them to go stop an asteroid and they got their whole ship duplicated, one of the crew murdered their other self, they blew up their ship to stop aliens from turning them into spiders, then went back in time to stop space Nazis from killing Alexander Graham Bell and preventing the invention of the communicator. Next time, just send the USS Hatshepsut. The last weird thing that happened to them is that once they left Starbase 17 only to discover a week later that they'd gotten 20,000 boxes of self-sealing stembolts instead of oscillation overthrusters by mistake, so they had to stop by Deep Space 4 and get some extra supplies."

Like I said, both of these possibilities are hilarious.
