It only just occurred to me. But Jamie knew the cursing rule without us seeing it established during Uncle’s Day. So now I’m imagining how that exchange went.

I could see Roy’s sister initiating the call. Explaining who she is but that Phoebe can explain it best. And then that proper little dweeb gets on to explain Uncle’s Day; that they have tea and then themed presents* and it ends in a two-person play.

But then also about the fine system, that they don’t offer milk with their tea because of Uncle Roy being lactose intolerant. Like she gets to talk to someone N E W who also loves her Uncle Roy. She gets over/excited and just info dumps about her uncle.

And of course Jamie is charmed. He’s an excited about things info dumper too. And a Roy Kent stan. And a just-some-bloke-named-roy fan too.

So he puts some change in his pocket and shows up for Phoebe. It being about Roy is just icing on the cake.

* “This year we’re making shirts!”

Jamie *pen leaking ink into his mouth thinking “does it count if I come up with the idea but someone else does the actual work?”

Phoebe *tapping her capped pen against her Uncle’s Day 2023 plan* “I suppose so…”

Here’s a snippet from chapter 8 or in the morning i’m bulletproof which I have not given up on. Just have a few tweaks to the last chapter.

And when Jamie climbs into his twin bed later that night, he dreams of Wembley, but not the changing room interaction with his Dad. He dreams of his England debut, and it’s more intuition than memory when he wakes. He slips his brace back on after he showers, and this time, its presence is more a challenge than a hindrance. He glances at the England memorabilia around his small room and looks in the mirror after he’s dressed. You’re Jamie Fucking Tartt, he tells himself. And you’re going to the World Cup.

A new mantra repeating in his head, he goes downstairs to see his Mum and Simon. Jamie knows he has lots of work ahead of him, but he’s never shied away from hard work. He’s reminded of his original drive every time his Mum smiles at him. She’s why I work so hard. Jamie’s finally realised working hard and being a good lad don’t have to be contradictory. And he can be both of those for himself, too.

And as a bonus, below the cut is a snippet from an untitled whumptober entry that’s Roy supporting Phoebe and his sister when she leaves her husband.

“Happy Uncle’s Day!” they greet, holding hands.

“What the fuck is this?” he asks.

“Uncle’s Day,” Phoebe says excitedly, jumping up and down.

“What the fuck is Uncle’s Day?” Roy asks, looking at Ruth.

“It’s our new favourite holiday,” Ruth explains. “Phoe wanted to celebrate Uncle’s Roy so…”

Ruth trails off and widens her arm, palm up to show Roy a homemade banner and spread of food on the table.

“This is a made up holiday.”

“No, it’s not,” Phoebe says confidently.

Roy looks at Ruth with raised eyebrows.

“Any day that annoys Roy is a holiday for me,” Ruth gloats.

In my perfect world, where my AU is a 40-episode fully animated show; this episode would reveal the seemingly unsuspecting Old Man Mcgucket as the leader of a powerful secret cult of memory erasure. Mcgucket, believing Ford to still be under the influence of "the demon that stares," kidnaps him and attempts to "exorcise"/erase the so-called demon out of Ford's brain.

However, with the metal plate bolted into Ford's skull not only keeping out demons such as Bill, but also keeping them in; Bill is forced to instead take over Ford's body with nowhere else to go. Together with the twins who've come to rescue their Grunkle Ford, they frantically run from a hoard of cultists and their terrifying leader.

The twins discover that their Grunkle Ford's past goes much deeper than they had originally anticipated, and that their Uncle Bill isn't who they think he is....

2003-2007

He desperately tried to make Yuuji’s first word be “fuck.”

He got so sick and tired of having to watch the same Barney VHS tape while babysitting that he ripped the film out and blamed it on toddler Yuuji.

Yuuji always begs him to draw his tattoos on him every time he babysits.

One time toddler Yuuji broke Sukuna’s flip phone in half. Sukuna was too impressed to be mad at him for it.

2008-2013

He brought five year old Yuuji to a Slipknot concert and had him up on his shoulders with big noise cancelling headphones on… and also “forgot” to ask Jin permission to bring him beforehand.

He tried to do a trick on Yuuji’s razor scooter and accidentally broke it.

He took Yuuji with him to Warped Tour.

He got really embarrassed when Jin showed Yuuji his high school yearbook photos of him with a mohawk.

He has a leather jacket with pins and patches all over it and Yuuji LOVES wearing it when he comes over.

2014-2017

He cut Yuuji’s hair when he got into middle school and told Jin “I’ll be damned if my nephew has a bowl cut.”

When Yuuji got into a fight at school he asked him “did you win?” When Yuuji said yes he took him to get ice cream.

He had a white iPhone and dropped it, cracking the glass on the back; Yuuji colored in the cracks with neon pink sharpie.

The first time Yuuji snuck out Sukuna chewed him out when he got back home, telling him “I don’t care if you sneak off, but you fucking tell me next time.”

Whenever Yuuji gets in trouble at school, Sukuna is always the one to pick him up because the principal is afraid of him.
