I don't know if anyone is going to be interested in this, but I am trying to create my own personalized universe/continuity/series out of DC because their modern media does nothing but depress and torment me. This is my universe's version of The Ray. I don't know if anyone on here is going to like my take on him.
My universe exists in defiance of any and all Crisis events. It takes place after whatever the final event before DC's (hypothetical) bankruptcy is, so my universe is literally immune from ever being retconned/rebooted/erased by any crisis events.

Just started Chevrons Locked and hoo-boy am I dubious.
I know that it’s “unofficial and unauthorized” so I’m going into it with a bucket of salt at hand… But here’s the thing, I’ve barely started and already I have problems with it. They have an illustration of every member of SG-1 on the front cover except Jonas and then on page TWO they spell Corin’s name wrong as “Corin Jemic.”
This does not bode well.
The disrespect to my boy…

Dead Cert for Player of the Year
There are six headlines that I can’t read because Michael’s hand is in the way or he opens the paper too fast. I can only make out the words of one of them: “Bones” “Wreck” “Score”. Another one talks about something reaping total havoc (the Grim Reaper?) and doing something to 2 men (halving them?).
I was hoping that each of these headlines would have fully written articles, but oddly enough, all of the small text underneath each of the headlines is copy-pasted from Charles Darwin’s “The Expression of the Emotions in Man and Animals.” Interesting choice of placeholder text!
I’m going to make another post about the obituary section, specifically about Charles’s obituary. It looks like most of the obituaries have information under them instead of placeholder text, but the one that says “Dead Beat Dad Instant Local at Dive Bar” has the Darwin placeholder text under it.
There’s also a horoscope section (horrorscopes, heehee) of the paper as well as a personal ad section. I can barely read the horoscopes, but I might attempt to decipher some of the personal ads later. Why did they make all of the fun stuff so blurry in this movie?! 😫
Also you can buy the paper for $.25! Inflation hasn’t hit the afterlife yet! 😆

Trump Team Should Fund Its Own Transition
The General Services Administration abused its role and spied on the president-elect in 2016.
Federal law provides the president-elect with millions of dollars for transition activities. Donald Trump should reject it.
Ever since 1963, candidates have accepted these services, and the General Services Administration—an independent government agency—has provided them in good faith. That is until Mr. Trump won in 2016.
Reports from Congress and the Justice Department Inspector General’s Office reveal that in 2016, government bureaucrats abused their role in the transition process to spy on and subvert the Trump operation.
The Presidential Transition Act of 1963 authorizes the General Services Administration to provide major candidates office space, administrative support and other services beginning after the party conventions. After the election, the agency also pays the winning candidate’s transition team’s payroll and travel expenses, and it facilitates agency briefings. As a condition of receiving this support, the transition team must agree to certain disclosure rules, ethics requirements and a $5,000 cap on private donations.
As detailed in a 2020 Senate report, the General Services Administration’s agreement with the 2016 Trump team specified that transition records “would not be retained.” Instead, “GSA officials—at the urging of the FBI and Office of the Special Counsel—nonetheless decided to preserve and disclose those records to various investigative entities, all while concealing these facts” from the Trump team.
The General Services Administration turned those records over to special counsel Robert Mueller without requiring any legal process, such as a subpoena or a warrant. In fact, the agency, of its own accord, contacted the Federal Bureau of Investigation to ask if it should preserve the records despite the explicit terms of the agreement outlining the opposite. Team Trump wasn’t told anything. When Trump officials later learned of the unauthorized preservation, the General Services Administration refused to provide copies of the records being retained and instead turned those records over to investigators.
A 2020 amendment to the Presidential Transition Act requires the General Services Administration to provide advance notice of any intention to deviate from the agreement, but that merely means the agency has to tell you when it’s going to break the agreement; it doesn’t bar it from happening.
The General Services Administration wasn’t the only guilty party. The FBI used the cover of transition briefings to investigate the campaign. The Justice Department’s Inspector General, for example, found that former FBI agent Peter Strzok sent another FBI agent to an intelligence briefing with Mr. Trump and Gen. Mike Flynn as part of an effort to build a Russia collusion case against them.
Given this history, it would be foolish for the Trump team to trust government transition resources again. Managing it alone wouldn’t be hard. The 2016 transition effort cost about $14 million, counting both General Services Administration and privately raised funds. Relieved of the private donation cap, millions could be raised from supporters such as Elon Musk who also could oversee IT security. Transition teams typically seek background checks on prospective appointees, but those aren’t required by statute, and the campaign is already considering hiring private firms to do the vetting instead.
Biden agency officials are hostile to Mr. Trump, so GSA-sponsored briefings from them are of limited value. Instead, the transition team should rely on annual budget submissions, which contain detailed information on agency operations. That would be supplemented by briefings arranged by the transition team featuring trusted prior or current officials.
Mr. Trump’s critics will say that by shunning General Services Administration’s support, he is skirting oversight, but the retort is simple: The trust is gone.
Mr. Huff has served as a lawyer in the Trump White House and the House and Senate judiciary committees.

Act 4 Prologue (Matias Asbrink)
Translations may not always capture the exact nuances or tone of the original text. Expect grammatical errors and inaccuracies.
At the same time, in Acroite.
Large snowflakes fluttered down like flower petals, painting the traditional stone-built streets white.
The main street, illuminated by street lamps, was bustling with crowds of people. However, there were no troublemakers here, no drunken shouts or fights like in other countries.
In this country, governed by the strictest laws on the continent, those who disturb the peace are quickly apprehended and held accountable for their crimes.
Yet amidst the orderly and well-maintained streets, there was a corner where women gathered unnaturally.
Woman 1: “Please join me at the lovely party I’m having tonight.”
Woman 2: “That’s not fair. Please also come to my party.”
Woman 3: “Where are you off to at this hour? If you’re interested, would you like to join me for dinner?”
Matias: “I have work to attend to. Please excuse me.”
Slipping smoothly out of the midst of the women, with his golden hair gathering the twilight’s glow and snow-shadowed eyes tinged with melancholy, was Matias, the guardian of Acroite’s law.
Though his appearance and demeanor were stern, there was an alluring aura about him that made the women gaze at him dreamily.
Matias: “Haah.”
With a sigh, he casually brushed back his smooth blond hair, eliciting another round of cheers from the women behind him.
A colleague, a judge, then playfully tapped his back as he swiftly walked away to escape their intense stares.
Lars: “Quite the charmer, as always, huh? Matias.”
Pushing up his round glasses, the man smiled teasingly at Matias, and his expression changed to a more relaxed one.
Matias: “Lars, if you saw that, you could’ve helped me.”
Matias: “You know I struggle with women.”
Lars: "I know, but having too many admirers is honestly a problem I envy. I wish I could trade places with you."
Matias: "You wish you could trade places with me? Did you see those women? They had the eyes of warriors determined to annihilate their enemies."
Lars: "I think they were all beauties, though."
Matias: "Whether they're beautiful or not doesn't matter. The only woman I need is my soulmate."
Matias: "She doesn't need to dote on me or stare at me like those women. All she needs to do is wish me luck, fix my tie, give me a kiss, and wave goodbye before I head to work."
Lars: "Yeah, yeah, I get it. I've heard about your embarrassing fantasies more than a hundred times, Matias."
Lars: "Are you alright, though?"
Matias: "I've been saying it since earlier, but I'm not okay. You have to back me up next time."
Lars: "I meant about the trial. The defendant this time is your friend, right?"
Matias: "Ah, yeah. We were roommates for a while back in the Royal Academy. We enlisted together and served in the same unit."
Lars: "You were close then."
Matias: "He was a good guy. Cheerful, smart, and quick-witted. He was good with women too, effortlessly handling situations like earlier."
Lars: "I see. Matias, about that..."
Matias' snow-shadow-colored eyes gaze straight at his colleague, looking somewhat uneasy.
Matias: "It's fine."
Matias: "I'm a man of the Asbrink family."
The Royal Court, which determines the nation’s justice, was filled with a solemn atmosphere tonight.
The defendant and his defense attorney, the government officials prosecuting his crimes, and numerous citizens in the gallery all watched with bated breath as the five judges, especially the guardian of the law, sat atop the judicial platform.
Matias: “I’ll now deliver the verdict on the suspicion of unauthorized leakage of classified Acroite military information.”
Matias: “Defendant, step forward.”
The defendant stepped onto the witness stand.
Though looking severely worn out, his eyes, fixed on the guardian of the law, held a faint glimmer of hope.
It was well known among some circles that the defendant had a friendship with the guardian.
As everyone sought to interpret the meaning behind the intersecting gazes, the sound of the gavel resounded.
Matias: “Death penalty.”
After delivering the merciless verdict, the courtroom fell into a brief silence before erupting into chaos.
Defendant: “Matias, are you really going to kill me!? Me, who ate, slept, and fought alongside you? We're friends, aren't we!?”
Defendant: “You can’t do this!”
While the defendant cried out in despair, Matias appeared entirely unaffected.
Matias: “That does not excuse your crime.”
Defendant: “Isn’t a death sentence too heavy for a single mistake?”
Matias: "The law is justice. If you are a citizen of Acroite, obedience is absolute."
Matias: "All you can do is comply with the verdict that has been passed down."
With a detached voice, Matias continued to gaze directly at the collapsing defendant, seemingly in despair.
Matias: "The execution will be carried out in five days, at noon."
Defendant: "M-Matias..."
As the defendant was taken away, Matias watched them with his snow-shadow-colored eyes.
To dispel the murmurs, he struck the gavel twice.
Matias: "This concludes the session."
As the people left the courtroom in silence, he stood alone.
It was unusual for him to stay in the courtroom after it had adjourned, without a clear reason.
Walking to the spot where the defendant had collapsed during the trial, he gently touched the witness stand with his fingers.
Though his snow-shadowed eyes flickered slightly, he murmured with the same emotionless voice as during the trial.
Matias: "I did the right thing."
Matias: "I'm Matias, the next king of Acroite, a proud man of the esteemed Asbrink family."
Matias: "Until all evil is condemned, I cannot afford to stop."

Have you ever considered that maybe speculations that Harry and Meghan want to use their kids for PR are wrong and they’re actually staying true to their word that they are protecting the kids’ privacy and that’s why we haven’t seen them? (Except when they showed Archie’s photos in the bath in their netflix show…) But other than that, they’ve been pretty successful protecting their kids’ privacy.
You must've missed the three times Meghan papwalked with Archie.
Papwalk #1
These photos came while Harry was away for the Sandringham Summit. They were taken by Meghan's rent-a-pap but yet it turned into paparazzi harassment and an invasion of privacy lawsuit when Harry caught wind of it.
Papwalk #2
This papwalk came right after Philip's funeral. It also came with eyewitnesses reports of Meghan walking up and down the street several times holding Archie. Which is exactly what happened on the Remembrance Day 2016 papwalk - Meghan marched up and down the street in front of the Daily Mail offices until one of the reporters took pity on her, went out to take her picture, and then she finally left.
"Papwalk" #3
This is a screenshot from a Zoom call Meghan was having about social justice work (aka nothing Archie needed to be there for). This photo dropped right as William and Kate were arriving in Boston for their Earthshot visit and just a couple of days before the Netflix docuseries promo aired. It was spun as "unauthorized" and "scrubbed" off social media.

Unauthorized Change in Priority
I’m still on a bit of a DCxDP kick right now and I have another idea. It seems to be a fairly common trope that when DP exists and the Justice league seems to be ignorant of a small town in Illinois that was actually pulled into another dimension for several days, that the blame is laid either on the GIW or John Contantine. When John Constantine is blamed, we tend toward him going ‘we don’t fuck with the Infinite Realms’ and nopes out on behalf of the entire JL, leaving a 14 year old to handle things on his own.
Let's take a slight inversion of that. Also I should probably mention, you might want to disregard any canon that contradicts this.
It is important to note going in that in this one Amity Park sits on so many intersections of ley lines that it is impossible to tell which layline is connecting to which. A bit like a natural lake bed that is fed by a bunch of little rivers. This thins the divider between this dimension and the infinite realms, substantially. So even before the portal opening the line between Amity Park and the Infinite Realms is tissue paper thin.
Constantine before he joins the JDL, at some point well before Danny is even born, finds himself in Amity Park. He realizes immediately how thin the veil is in this location and, not wanting to sneeze and accidentally drop this town into a hell dimension, backs away slowly. The veil is so thin that Constantine does not even dare putting any kind of monitoring spell but notes the town (reasoning that anything that happens here will be world ending). When he joins JLD (still well before the portal opens) he creates the Amity Park file and puts two very important notations.
First, anything Amity Park can only be handled by the JLD, preferably Zatanna or Contantine. He has a good reason for this; as most superheroes have just enough contact with death or magic to be reactive to the Infinite Realms, no knowledge of what to avoid, and next to no willingness to leave well enough alone. If there was an issue that by some miracle had not punctured the veil between realities, it is almost guaranteed that the wrong move will make things exponentially worse not better.
Second, he put a notation that any communication about, for, or from Amity Park is priority number 1, used for potentially cataclysmic, all hands on deck immediately communications. In short any call from Amity Park should have been immediately routed to Constantine.
This is what should have happened. However, the first technician to receive a call from Amity Park (during Lunch Lady’s attack) decided that this must have been a miscoding, or a data entry error, as ghosts do not exist. Not only does he mark the caller as a prank, but he also used his own access to change the second notation for Amity Park, marking any call from that location or about that location as a prank, to be ignored.
Fast forward ten years, until now nobody has caught on to what happened. Constantine had very realistic fears about tearing a hole into the infinite realms and thus never checked in on Amity Park, since no notifications came in.
We start with Batman, in the watchtower, unintentionally running into Constantine giving a royal, and deeply pissed off, dressing down to the technician in question, though the topic is not obvious.
Upon seeing Batman, Constantine goes “Good, you were next on my list. We need a full League meeting, ASAP, and all of your brood needs to attend, particularly Red Hood.”
Batman just growls out a ‘What?’
Constantine sighed “Look, I know you don’t like magic. I’ve tried to respect that, no matter how much death magic you and your brood radiate. But we have a fuck up with potentially dimension ending consequences and your undead boy might be the best shot at keeping us all from a war we can’t win.”
Batman growls to cover his own confusion.
Contantine rolled his eyes, “I will tell you everything I know, at the meeting. Going over this more than once increases the chance that someone will fly off the handle and fuck us all worse” he then turned to head toward one of the conference rooms, towing the technician. When the technician protested Constantine snapped out “Mid Case Scenario is that we have to sacrifice you to the Infinite Realms for your fuck up, you stay with me until I know how bad it is”
No more than a half hour later the Justice League has gathered, including a prickly and confused Red Hood (only there because someone-Read Red Robin- thought to use the ‘apparently this is a dimension ending trouble and we’re the assholes that live here’ argument).
Constantine starts with three word ‘Amity Park, Illinois’
Every member of Justice League Dark goes pale.
Constantine continues:
We have a fuck up of massive preportions. Possibly dimension ending, all caused by the idiot to my right. For those of you not in the know there is a dimension that lightly overlaps ours, called the Infinite Realms. It simultaneously encompasses all afterlives that ever were or will be and serves as the connective tissue between the afterlives and the mortal realm. Natural rips form, usually along the ley lines, to allow the spirits of the dead to pass on from our world to theirs and vice versa. It can also be called the Ghost Zone. This realm is made up of ectoplasm, what ghosts are made of. Semi poisonous to mortals, also technically radioactive. Mortals who have touched death in certain ways begin to resonate with the Infinite Realms, mostly by dying and being brought back by unnatural means.
With me so far, Good.
A few decades ago I came across a city in Illinois where the veil between here and the Infinite Realms is so thin it is practically see through. Since I figured accidentally punching a hole in reality and dropping a midwestern city into some fucked up shit was not a good idea, I left but kept an eye for the name to pop up anywhere. When I joined the Dark, I put a priority alert in place. ‘Cause anything that happened in Amity Park or about Amity Park meant the damn Infinite Realms and we needed to be on top of that shit. Except the dipshit to my right, whose name privileges have been revoked, decided that the careful label of ‘Priority 1’ must have been a mistake, and changed the label to mark everything from Amity Park as a prank. 10 years ago.
Yesterday a different alert regarding the Infinite Realms was tripped and guess what I found…Over 200,000 calls from Amity Park in the last decade. All urgent cries for help. All ignored. This was the last message.
Everyone in the league looked deeply uncomfortable with the idea that they had been ignoring cries for help, the unnamed technician cringing next to Constantine. It got worse when Constantine played the last message. The voice sounded male and it sounded young (They do not know if, but it was Tucker Foley aged 24 years old), what’s worse was that there was audible pain in the voice overlaid with a helplessness.
I…I don’t even know why I am trying this. It’s clear no one is listening. That no one will listen. But…But Danny would want us to try. Would want us to give one last warning, he loves humanity so much. They took Danny. They took him two weeks ago and they are cutting him open. We can feel it, Danny’s trying to keep it from us, to keep us from feeling it but our bond is too deep. We can’t get to where Danny is being held and he’s so tired; he won’t last much longer. <The voice stops and there are several minutes of pained panting> Let this serve as a warning, should the Ghost King be Ended at the hands of the US Government, the Infinite Realms will ride to war. Amity Park stands with our Ghostly brethren. Long Rule King Phantom.
The recording cut out and a horrific silence echoed. Before anyone can rush off to try and rescue this ‘Danny’ Constantine gets to them to sit down so that this could be done right (and avoid rushing in to make things worse). He points out that the Ghost King has not yet been Ended, gesturing at the Bats. All of the bats have brushed with death in the right ways (also Gotham was Very very cursed, which also thinned the veil. Though it was not up to Amity Park Levels Gothamites tend toward liminal as well) to be at least loosely affiliated with the Infinite Realms (liminal, though that is not the term he used), with Black Bat, the current Robin, Batman himself, and Red Hood being the ones that pinged as ‘Actual Realm Denizens’ (I know most of the league has died, or died adjacent, but we’ll go with they register as slightly liminal but much less than the Bats, since Gothams curses and the use of the Lazarus pits count as additional exposure).
Had War broken out, the loyalty of those four in particular would be bound to the Ghost King. Constantine was also sure that between their affiliation with the Infinite Realms and the loyalty of those four, the rest of the bats would likely switch sides (Of the Bats, only Red Robin looked completely at ease with this prediction-Tim had long ago accepted that his loyalty was not tied to Justice but to Family). Thus the bats serve as an early warning system, should they attack then it was too late.
In addition to being the canary in the coal mine, Constantine hopes that Red Hood, having died and come back, may be able to serve as an ambassador of sorts, that having him and the other bats with them when they go to Amity Park will give them the time to talk with the residents and de escalate things.
The meeting continues as the League identifies the goals for this
Short Term: Rescue the ‘Danny’, anyone else in immediate danger, and make contact with the people in Amity Park
Mid Term Goals: Start making amends for ignoring their calls for help, ensure the residents are safe or could be made safe, figure out why they think what Danny is enduring has anything to do with the US government
Long Term: Dismantle whatever organization is the ‘They’ the caller mentioned
Of the Bats, Oracle and Black Bat would stay on the WatchTower to play canary. At the same time they would start trying to figure out the They mentioned in the call (by going through the other calls) and any research that needs to be done.
A Single jet, with the Batfam, John Contantine, and as many of the Justice League as can fit (with the Supers flying outside it) is dispatched to go to Amity Park; there is concern that more than that would spook the residents or seem like an invading party. They are able to land the Jet in the middle of Amity Park’s town square and can already see the devastation. It already looks like a war zone, with destroyed buildings and pitted roads. The sky flickers between a normal looking sky and a sickly green that they do not realize it from the Infinite Realms.
A crowd has gathered by the time the amp on the jet lowers. It is a mixture of humans and ghosts, none looking pleased to see the Justice League. The crowd is led by Fright Night, Mr. Lancer, and Tucker Foley (who looks to be in some kind of pain).
This is an Eternal Trio (Tucker/Sam/Danny) kind of idea with Tucker and Sam having a strong psychic bond with Danny, in part due to being there when he died and the portal opened. Because of that all the ghosts see Sam and Tucker as substitute Ghost King/Royalty with Danny being in the GIW’s hands. It takes some back and forth (and Fright Knight explicitly asking Red Hood if the Justice League are to be trusted) but Tucker is willing to answer their questions if it means that they get Danny back.
It turns out that the GIW had the town basically under siege and had for the last year (by that point barely anyone was trying to reach out to the Justice League). Two weeks ago the GIW managed to capture Danny (and had since managed to capture a number of ghosts and liminal humans for experiments). They had some kind of shield up that meant that no one who was past a certain point of Liminal, as all of Amity Park were, were able to get anywhere near it. Sam and Tucker’s bond with Danny meant that they knew he was alive and could feel what Danny was going through. The Bats were too liminal to get close to the GIW facility/fortress. They would go with Tucker to Fenton Works to begin interviewing people about what was going on (finding out that the GIW was apparently a branch of the US government was disquieting). John Constantine (still dragging the techncian) was going with them, someone mentioned the stable portal to the Infinite Realms and his ulcer grew by 3 sizes. The rest of the Justice League would be storming the GIW facility to rescue anyone imprisoned.
In Fenton Works they encounter Maddie and Jack, radiating a manic crazy kind of energy as they furiously build weapon after weapon for the ghosts/AP residents to use against the GIW and/or the rest of humanity. Vlad Masters was with them, trying to keep them relatively stable. The Fenton Parents only found out that Phantom was Danny and that Danny had died a few days before Danny had been captured, though they had mellowed about Ghosts over the years (they were still shooting at Phantom, but it was more of an afterthought to making sure the GIW didn’t harm any innocents- Closer to frenemies than enemies). To be fair Danny had not been trying to keep it a secret from them for years, but after a certain point it felt like bringing up the Danny Phantom/Danny Fenton thing was a little awkward. The Fenton Parents are practically the only people in town who had not made the connection.
The knowledge that they have been hunting their baby, that they have been hurting their baby, that their inventions killed their son cracked their psyche’s a little. Before they could fully recover from that blow, the GIW took Danny and was hurting him. The GIW was using the Fentons Research as a basis for everything they were doing. That shattered their minds more than a little. Their behavior from that point on tended to remind older Ghosts of ghosts who were on the verge of having a cracked core from either an impossible Obsession, or conflicting Obsessions. Everyone is treating them very gently and lets them keep building really weird weapons to keep them from literally beating themselves bloody on the GIW shielding. Red Hood, as the most Ghost Adjacent (Everyone in Amity Park have been exposed to enough ectoplasm to sense the levels of ectoplasm in other, to a certain extent), and Red Robin, as the most engineering inclined, are immediately co opted to help with weapons development as the Fentons babble about taking out the GIW in distressingly specific terms, uncontrollable manic energy, and frighteningly blank eyes (Even Red Hood is treating them with the ‘these people are a primed grenade attached to a nuclear bomb’ kind of kid gloves).
Jazz makes a point to thank Batman for Red Hood and Red Robin indulging her parents. She is exhausted and at the end of her endurance in trying to keep everything together. She sits with Sam, Tucker, and a number of assorted ghosts to answer Batman’s questions about what the fuck has been going on in the past decade.
Back at the watchtower, Oracle has written a program to transcribe the messages from the Amity Park calls and do an analysis on the word use. From the transcripts she has been able to find a couple of important keywords: Anti Ecto Acts, Ghost Investigation Ward, the names of several ghosts, Pariah Dark, Danny Phantom. She and Black Bat begin researching. These are not fun topics to research.
The Lantern Corps are taking the research and compiling a report to take to the OA. Absolutely 0% of the people are happy with what they are discovering. While not all of it could have been prevented by the Justice League knowing about the portal opening from the beginning (The Anti Ecto Acts had been buried in a sub clause of a sub clause of on page 1,361 of 2,500 of a Wheat Subsidy Bill), there was significant preventable damage.
At the GIW headquarters residents of Amity Park, both ghost and human, stood outside the shield line as members of the Justice League, particularly members of the Super family (which has the benefit of having Clark Kent the reporter be a first hand witness if need be) pass through the Shield with only the faintest of resistance. The first priority is the Shield as no one can escape until it comes down. Superboy, the older, finds the experiment cells first. It is horrifying beyond anything he had ever experienced.
Several of the cells contained ghosts that not only had been living when they were brought in, but also were trapped in a cell with their own rotting corpse (Including both Paulina and Dash). Every possible human/Ghost experimentation and horror was present. They find Danny vivisected and pinned open with several of his organs and limbs decorating the room, while he was painfully regrowing them.
Later the vague descriptions of what was found in the GIW headquarters, reported by Clark Kent and Lois Lane, would induce actual supervillains to come out of the woodwork to help the Justice League in taking down the Acts, the GIW, and their supporters. Ra’s Al Ghul reaches out to Red Robin (not just because Ra’s also qualifies as liminal under the acts-though he does take that personally), offering support and a cadre of assassins. Lex Luthor throws his political muscle behind repealing the Acts. Two Face is in complete agreement with himself for the first time in ages when he declares it open season on anyone in a GIW uniform.
In the aftermath it is found that even the living residents of Amity Park are all too Liminal to live in most cities. Gotham remains one of the few cities that can support them. A robust exchange program springs up between both cities; the residents of either tend to consider Amity Park as a neighborhood of Gotham. Gotham University is the first school to offer admissions to one of the ghostly residents, codifying how Ghostly enrollment should be counted. They are also the first to offer both a Psychological and Sociological Master degree program with a focus on Ecto beings.
Constantine finds that it is no longer possible to separate Amity Park from where it had partially sunk into the Infinite Realms. This has led to some strange warping of the space time continuum that gives him a headache, but by all accounts is as stable as it can be. This means that while everyone agrees that Amity Park is in Illinois, and geography does seem to support that, it is possible to turn down certain streets at certain times and be in Gotham and vice versa.

A study from The University of Texas at El Paso reveals a gender disparity in prison infractions that disproportionately affects women. The study, led by Melinda Tasca, Ph.D., an associate professor in the Department of Criminal Justice and Security Studies at UTEP, and published in Justice Quarterly, analyzed the disciplinary infraction records of more than 20,000 males and females in a large western state prison, who were released between 2010 and 2013. The researchers set out to answer three questions: 1) whether women were more likely than men to receive defiance infractions; 2) whether women received a greater number of defiance infractions than men; and 3) whether the gender differences observed for defiance were unique from other types of infractions (e.g., nonviolent and violent). Defiance acts are the most minor of rule violations and are often verbal in nature, including disrespect, being disruptive or disobeying an order. Defiance infractions can also come as the result of committing unallowed consensual contact, unauthorized altering of one's appearance, or failing to adhere to hygiene requirements. "Despite being minor violations, defiance infractions can have profound consequences," Tasca said. Individuals found guilty of defiance infractions may be subject to solitary confinement, be denied phone calls and visits with loved ones, and be negatively impacted when it comes to parole board decisions.

How re-reading Siege and Storm ruined my memory of TGT!Nikolai
Nikolai may be cleverer and more open-minded himself, but he's no better than Alina.
He's not some long-awaited benevolent otkazat'sya setting to mend the bridges between his and Grisha, he merely ignores there are any issues to begin with.
Part of it could be excused by his sources- heavily bigoted Alina and her gang of spoiled Little Palace children, young and daring "rogues", who think in terms of "freedom" vs. "serving the Darkling"... but isn't he supposed to be perceptive?
Are there no snide remarks or open animosity in front of Grisha-loving tsarevich?! Is he simply waving them off as ordinary disdain for lower classes?
What about the pogroms? Is he naïve enough to believe such cruelty can be simply a backlash against a single deed of one (1) person? Why not react to it then? Why not bring it up, and insist on justice for the slaughtered? If only to "investigate unauthorized damage to the Crown's property"?!
(Hell, ~I~ could spin it, and I'm neither charming, nor likeable like him.)
Why is he ignoring that ALL Grisha- INCLUDING the Darkling- are legally no more than just that- items to do with however their owner- the King- pleases?!
Nikolai's blind spot regarding his family made him human. His blind spot regarding crimes of First Army makes him a hypocrite. He loves his (shitty) family. He needs First Army's support.

From the era of slavery to the present day, the first full history of black America’s shocking mistreatment as unwilling and unwitting experimental subjects at the hands of the medical establishment. Medical Apartheid is the first and only comprehensive history of medical experimentation on African Americans. Starting with the earliest encounters between black Americans and Western medical researchers and the racist pseudoscience that resulted, it details the ways both slaves and freedmen were used in hospitals for experiments conducted without their knowledge—a tradition that continues today within some black populations. It reveals how blacks have historically been prey to grave-robbing as well as unauthorized autopsies and dissections. Moving into the twentieth century, it shows how the pseudoscience of eugenics and social Darwinism was used to justify experimental exploitation and shoddy medical treatment of blacks, and the view that they were biologically inferior, oversexed, and unfit for adult responsibilities. Shocking new details about the government’s notorious Tuskegee experiment are revealed, as are similar, less-well-known medical atrocities conducted by the government, the armed forces, prisons, and private institutions. The product of years of prodigious research into medical journals and experimental reports long undisturbed, Medical Apartheid reveals the hidden underbelly of scientific research and makes possible, for the first time, an understanding of the roots of the African American health deficit. At last, it provides the fullest possible context for comprehending the behavioral fallout that has caused black Americans to view researchers—and indeed the whole medical establishment—with such deep distrust. No one concerned with issues of public health and racial justice can afford not to read Medical Apartheid, a masterful book that will stir up both controversy and long-needed debate.

Andrew Prokop at Vox:
The left’s hopes for sweeping change from the 2010s have crashed into the reality of the 2020s. The energy of the Bernie Sanders presidential campaigns and the George Floyd protests is a distant memory. Some members of the Squad have moved toward the Democratic mainstream, while others lost primaries. Several of the progressive prosecutors elected in recent years have been ousted from office (by voters or due to scandals) or appear headed that way. In Democrat-dominated spaces — like cities and mainstream media outlets — there’s been growing pushback against the left. Ambitious progressive rallying cries of just a few years ago, such as defunding the police and Medicare-for-all, are now absent from the discourse. Politicians who assiduously cultivated left activists are now increasingly tacking to the center — most notably Vice President Kamala Harris, who has abandoned many of the positions she took while running in the Democrats’ 2020 presidential primary. Altogether, it’s seemed that progressives have moved from being on the offensive to being on the defensive — in both politics and the nation’s culture.
Of course, it’s not as if progressives’ gains over the past 20 years or so have been entirely wiped away. The Democratic Party remains significantly further to the left than it was a decade ago and certainly two decades ago (see, for instance, my recent article about the rise of the New Progressive Economics). Yet, as bloggers Noah Smith and Tyler Cowen have argued, there are growing indications that the leftward drift of the party and of the country’s culture broadly has stopped. On some fronts, there has indeed been a reversal. “No matter who wins, the US is moving to the right,” Semafor’s David Weigel argued last week, citing “immigrant rights, LGBTQ rights, climate change policies, and criminal justice reform” as issues where progressives are on the defensive. Being on the defensive is not new for the left — it’s the historical norm. Bursts of activist energy and successful reform are typically followed by long stretches where either the new status quo persists or a backlash reverses at least some recent change.
[...]
The era of rising progressive ambitions lasted from about 2005 to 2020
Historical periodization is a tricky thing, but here’s a rough attempt at it. From about 1980 to 2005, the left was mostly irrelevant to national politics. The Cold War was over, and capitalism reigned ascendant. The Republican Party moved right, while the Democratic Party moved to the center. The country cracked down on criminals, unauthorized immigrants, and non-working welfare recipients. 9/11 made patriotism mandatory. Same-sex marriage was viewed as politically toxic. But 2005 to 2020 was, broadly, a period where progressives and the left became increasingly influential inside the Democratic Party, in Democrat-dominated spaces, and in the larger culture. Call it the era of rising progressive ambitions. The disasters of George W. Bush’s second term kicked off the shift, discrediting Republican governance. This enabled the election of the nation’s first Black president, Barack Obama, whose agenda was strikingly ambitious and progressive when compared to the Clinton years. Democrats’ leftward shift accelerated in the 2010s, which saw:
The increased cultural influence of the social justice left, which transformed how much of the country thought and spoke about racial and gender issues (“the Great Awokening”)
The launch of viral protest movements like Occupy Wall Street, Black Lives Matter, and Me Too
The nationwide spread and Supreme Court’s protection of same-sex marriage rights, followed by increased advocacy for trans rights
The rise of more economically progressive and even democratic socialist politicians, as seen in the support for Sanders’s campaigns, the Squad’s arrival in Congress, and party leaders’ embrace of some of Elizabeth Warren’s ideas
A leftward move of mainstream Democrats on issues like immigration and criminal justice, where activists had made the case that status quo policies were cruel and harmful
Increased public discussion about causes like Medicare-for-All, the Green New Deal, and student loan forgiveness
Basically, on a host of issues, the “Overton window” — the boundaries of which political and policy ideas are deemed fit for mainstream discussion, rather than fringe or self-evidently absurd — opened far further left. Trump’s election didn’t stop the left’s rising influence. Indeed, it intensified it, raising the stakes of politics and heightening passions. (Trump’s rise simultaneously opened the Overton window further right on some issues, as leading Republicans increasingly embraced bigotry and flouted democratic norms.) The assumption spread among Democrats that the establishment’s approach had failed and that bold new progressive ideas were necessary. During the party’s 2020 presidential primary, most candidates — including Harris — scrambled to the left, wooing activist groups. Joe Biden, the most old-school major contender, won, but rather than a full-on pivot to the center for the general election, he embraced much of the progressive agenda. It was a political necessity for helming the Democratic Party of 2020.
[...]
The backlash and disillusionment of the 2020s
Things feel different in the Biden years. In part that’s due to the constraints and disappointments that always exist when a party tries to turn a bold campaign agenda into governing reality. Narrow congressional majorities limited Democrats’ legislative possibilities (and then they lost the House). The conservative Supreme Court, meanwhile, blocked some Biden actions like student loan forgiveness and rolled back abortion rights protections. But the trend was broader. Democrats in cities disavowed police cuts as they struggled with rising crime and complained they couldn’t handle a migrant influx. Corporations have laid off DEI workers. Mainstream media companies, increasingly influenced by progressive causes (and sensitive to left criticism) in the 2010s, are now more forthrightly asserting their journalistic independence and challenging progressive ideas. Activism in protest of Israel was met withfierce pushback at universities. Commentators started declaring that “wokeness” had peaked as social justice controversies grew less intense and frequent.
[...]
All of this has happened before
Meanwhile, there’s also been a conspicuous decline of energy and intensity among progressive activists. While many certainly remain committed to their longtime causes, others have disengaged or shifted their focus to opposing Israel’s war in Gaza (an issue that bitterly divides the Democratic Party and where Democratic leaders are disinclined to embrace the left). Perhaps if Trump wins, progressive energy would surge again in opposing him — but perhaps too many people are now burned out and apathetic, and the mobilization won’t match the bygone days of Trump’s first term. And a backlash against Trump’s governance would not necessarily spur the Democrats to resume their leftward march. Activists naturally get disappointed and disengaged when major change proves elusive. “Every major social movement of the past 20 years has undergone a significant collapse,” the activist Bill Moyer wrote in 1987, “in which activists believed that their movements had failed, the power institutions were too powerful, and their own efforts were futile.” Fatigue, burnout, and organizational crisis then ensue; some move on to new causes.
This Vox article explains how the progressive left has been in defense and retreat mode since 2020 after being in the ascendency since 2005 or so.

scratching the walls, running laps, I actually barked out of excitement. ( RUFF, BARK, BARK, RUFF, RUFF, GRRR, GIMME MORE )
Okay okay, one more but that's it, I don't want to spoil anyone's appetite. 😏
u get a pickle cellar excerpt
🥒🪲✨
Prismo leads Scarab to a dim, greenlit cellar, where the air is cool and pleasantly damp. Enormous barrels line the walls, above which are equidistant embedded shelves, packed with orderly lines of gleaming, sealed jars. The faint scent of brine drifts on the air, like Prismo has brought him to a brackish tide cave.
When Scarab had begun his inspection in earnest, he had observed the trash and sundry littered about the Time Room with disdain, and had automatically sneered when he began to imagine how the rest of the Cube might look. But he hadn't expected this.
"Haven't been down here in a while," Prismo idly volunteers, which may go a ways to explaining that discrepancy.
"Is that why it's so much cleaner?" Scarab dryly inquires. He sees no reason to hide his censure.
Prismo smiles sheepishly. "I was about to clean right before you showed up! That's why I closed the doors. Wouldn't wanna sweep any 'shorts' into the bin by accident." He laughs unconvincingly.
The reminder of Prismo's strange verbal slip earlier only serves to convince Scarab of the necessity of this inspection.
"Go on, then," Scarab invites with a gesture of eloquence. "Regale me with your process."
For the first time since Scarab arrived, Prismo actually looks somewhat enthused--though it's a far cry from his usual energy. He must be incredibly hungover.
"Okay, so the cool thing about pickling is that it's totally shelf-stable..."
--
"... And the longer you wait to eat them, the better they taste!"
Scarab hums, lifting one of the jars and examining it under the acidic lights. "I was under the impression that time didn't move forward, as such, in the Time Room."
"Right?" Prismo gushes. "Just a little trick I figured out."
"Do tell," Scarab says, interested despite himself. As frivolous a pastime as this is for the guardian of the entire multiverse's continuity and continued stability, Scarab is aware that sometimes turning one's powers to unexpected purpose can yield discoveries which lend one greater control of over those powers, and greater flexibility in their use. Perhaps that is the appeal of having a hobby, he muses.
And if he is to one day be Wishmaster, then hearing Prismo opine on the nature of his powers will ensure Scarab is adequately prepared to do the job more justice than Prismo ever did.
"As Wishmaster," Prismo ostentatiously begins, "I basically have control over every dimension in the Time Room. Like, I may just be a two-dimensional being, but I can still move the walls, and any inanimate three-dimensional objects in this space."
Or me, Scarab thinks with a thread of unease--though fortunately Prismo can only hold him, not move him.
... As far as he knows.
"Making time pass in the Time Room is as easy as moving a wall, once you figure out how to manipulate the fourth dimension!"
"It's that simple, is it?"
"Well," Prismo says modestly. "It took me a while to get the hang of it. But hey! Who can argue with these results?" He gestures proudly at his crop of jars. "You wanna try some? You seem like a 'hot and spicy' kinda guy to me."
"Hm," says Scarab. Against his better judgment, he's considering it.
Then Prismo heaves a sigh, rather disproportionate to Scarab's answer, in his opinion. The god-auditor turns to look at the Wishmaster askance, and finds him staring at the floor, looking positively downtrodden. Surely he's not that invested in Scarab trying out his pickles?
Scarab almost opens his mouth to ask what in the world is the matter with the Wishmaster, but before he can, Prismo mutters dejectedly, "That's the last time I make an unauthorized universe."
Scarab goes very still.
"... An unauthorized universe?" he softly says.
Prismo's eye widens, and he looks guiltily at his god-auditor guest.
"Ah... crap."
