Tragic: Luigi Mangione Commits Suicide By Shooting Self in Back of the Neck While Tied Up to Chair
Tumblr media
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK - In a tragic turn of events, Luigi Mangione was found dead in his jail cell Tuesday with a gunshot wound in the back of his head while tied up to a chair. The death was ruled a suicide by authorities. This came while Mangione was awaiting trial for the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
“Cases like this are always tragic,” said Detective Roy Hansen, who was in Mangione’s jail cell seconds after his death to declare it a suicide. “He was just about to go to trial, and then boom, he’s just gone. It’s a real shame that we won’t be hearing from him anymore.”
Hansen also made note of the circumstances surrounding Mangione’s death. “He clearly went to great lengths to end his own life,” Hansen stated. “He was tied up to a chair with duct tape covering his mouth. There was a gunshot wound on the back of his head, maximizing the impact. It’s clear that this act of suicide was deliberate and not an accident. I just can’t believe it.”
With Mangione gone, he was posthumously found guilty and all evidence against Thompson and all evidence against UnitedHealthcare was summarily shredded.

It is commonly held knowledge that the healthcare system in the United States regularly gets away with murder.

You would think so, but then again they’re still allowing doctors who believe a bunch of made up nonsense/medical superstitions about black people: we’re somehow immune to pain, black lady bits don’t work like white lady bits, that we’re somehow able to just lose blood indefinitely in the ER waiting area while “more important patients” who don’t complain about losing all of their blood, and going into shock, or ask “stupid” questions when the doctor that’s supposed be using modern medical techniques suddenly gets all nostalgic about Civil War era surgical practices, are being treated.
Anyway, they’re still letting those doctors work at hospitals in a multicultural nation. Somehow they get the full force of the hospital’s legal team at their disposal when they pop a black baby’s head like a grape, then try to pin it on the grieving mother for “pushing when they told her not to push, for being angry and non compliant”. Pushing whatever narrative they have to to avoid accountability for their medically ignorant/indifferent fuckups.

Healthcare Executives Suggest That Americans Should Just Stop Getting Sick if Paying for Healthcare is Such a Problem
Tumblr media
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Telling Americans to stop complaining and think rationally for a moment, a panel of top executives from major health insurance companies and hospital chains have spoke before Congress Monday, where they told Americans that if paying for healthcare is such a problem for them, then maybe they just shouldn’t get sick.
“My friends, it’s really simple,” UnitedHealth Group CEO Andrew Witty spoke before Congress. “If paying for sickness treatment is such an issue for you, then maybe you shouldn’t have gotten sick in the first place. Don’t expect handouts just because you’re ‘sick’ and ‘vulnerable,’ because quite frankly, we don’t care. Pay what you owe, or you’re out. Period.”
When asked how poorer Americans could afford treatment for certain illnesses, Witty would elaborate, “Americans just need to better prioritize self care over hospital care sometimes. You know, eat organic kale, mediate on rooftops, and maybe invest in a personal cryotherapy chamber. Sure, it might cost you a couple thousand dollars, but that’s just life. Things cost money. And besides, shouldn’t your health be worth the investment?”
The panel of executives would go on to show off a list of what they’re calling “Sickness Prevention Strategies” to keep you out of the hospital, which includes things like:
• Walking everywhere to avoid car accidents
• Developing a tolerance for untreated infections
• Drinking more Kombucha (preferably the $20 a bottle variety)
• And if all else fails, just get a better job so you can make more money
Critics of the proposal have pointed out that the executives have failed to address systemic issues like the rising costs of prescription drugs, astronomical insurance premiums, and a lake of universal access to healthcare.
“Well, that just sounds like a you problem,” Witty responded. “If you don’t want to pay $40,000 for a routine surgery, then maybe you shouldn’t be getting that surgery in the first place. Ever thought of that?”

Yep, and the idea that women, especially young women, who dare to express their sexuality at all can’t be rational or think multiple things at the same time, or that we’re just vapid. As if a woman can’t find Luigi attractive AND engage with the serious issues that he’s brought to the forefront. As if women are just reduced to incoherent puddles of goo in the face of an attractive man. I’m sick of it.
I had a whole section of the literature review for my college honors thesis dedicated to some of these ideas, and doing research for that thesis is when I really learned how prevalent it is. My thesis was on slash fanfiction and its emotional utility to the LGBTQ+ community in the face of lacking mainstream media representation (this was in 2015; things have gotten better, but we still have work to do), as well as how bad mainstream news media’s representation of female media fans is. How it pathologizes female desire, or reduces young female fans of groups like The Beatles or One Direction to just their sexuality/desire. It’s usually done by adult men and it’s creepy. I also wonder how much of it is projection in the form of men who don’t take attractive women seriously as more than sex objects, so they assume women can’t do so with attractive men.
In cases like with Luigi, it sounds like yet another way to dismiss or silence women. ‘Oh, they only support him because he’s hot.’ It’s insulting. Yes, “pretty privilege” is a thing, and I don’t doubt that Luigi’s looks have gotten him and his actions more attention and more sympathy than he might have otherwise gotten if he wasn’t conventionally attractive, but I see that as a strategic win for his cause. Whether it was strategic on his part, I can’t say, but the result still stands, and this cause is bigger than just him. He’s merely a catalyst on a fire than was already burning.
legit so annoyed about the way the corporate media wants to paint those women waiting outside the court as crazy and as only being there because Luigi is hot. I looked up pictures of them outside the court and they all held signs and were there to send a message: "health over wealth", "denial of medical care = violence", "murder for profit = terrorism", "the United States healthcare stole my livelihood", "insurance lobbyists line politicians' pockets", "healthcare reform NOW". Yeah, they're there because he's hot for sure. Also, there were a lot of men as well but hey, that's not helping the narrative right?

The ACA changed the game for health care in the U.S., making it easier for millions to access affordable coverage. With its focus on preventive care and patient rights, we've seen the uninsured rate drop significantly. But challenges linger—29 million Americans still lack coverage, and disparities in care continue to affect marginalized communities. For real progress, we need to strengthen coverage options, tackle health equity, and invest in preventive measures. The road ahead for health care reform is a marathon, not a sprint, and we have to keep pushing for a system that works for everyone.

Been shitting blood for three days. My previous experiences with physicians and ER doctors here in Portland have been worse than useless. Unfortunately, my insurance is also state provided, they prefer you to do everything online, my online account has been deactivated, I can’t afford a phone bill, so I don’t have a working telephone number to call the number it says I have to call to reactivate my account, and I also have no car.
