questions to type yourself (enneagram edition)
how do you set boundaries with the world around you? (do you assert yourself, do you blend in, do you please others, etc etc)
how do you act during stress? (are you more positive, do you stay calm and try to be "objective," do you get emotional, etc etc)
how do you act in anger? do you experience it often?
how do you act in shame? do you experience it often?
how do you act in fear? do you experience it often?
how do you act in relation to others in conflict? (withdraw, go-with-the-flow, upfront, etc)
how do you "get what you want?" (more demanding + straightforward, believe it should be earned, focus on self, etc etc)
what is your coping mechanism? (do you distract yourself, do you try to act more neutral, stay in denial, try to rationalize, etc)

CRITICAL ROLE: BELL'S HELLS (2021–) ENNEAGRAM TYPES ★
Chetney Pock O'Pea – Type 8(w7): The Independent
Eights are assertive, self-confident, and strong. They are decisive, protective, resourceful, and straight-talking, but can also be confrontational, domineering, and intimidating. Eights typically have problems with their tempers and with allowing themselves to be vulnerable. Eights enjoy taking on challenges themselves as well as giving others opportunities that challenge them to exceed themselves in some way. Eights are charismatic and have the capacities to persuade others to follow them into all kinds of endeavors. More than any other type, they stand alone: they want to be independent, and resist being indebted to anyone. Eights are extraordinarily tough and can absorb a great deal of physical punishment without complaint – a double-edged blessing, since they often take their health and stamina for granted and overlook the health and well-being of others as well. Enneagram 8w7s are ambitious and self-confident. They always seek more and don’t settle for anything. To feel safe, they can become self-protective and eventually intensively aggressive. As they are very sensitive people that can almost smell other people’s intentions, they’re not scared of showing how aggressive they can be if they feel threatened. They also struggle for love and support: they need a safe space they can trust which provides them care and assurance.

Most assertive types (378) are not badass go getters, they are broke clowns who live in a fantasy world of their grandiosity whilst their real life rots around them. None of you who write anything about the assertive triad have lived in reality. You see the assertive triad like some sort of mythological legend instead of real people. It’s fucking insufferable.

Subtype Trait Structures: sx8
Histrionic, Possessive
The sexual subtype has a need to be the center of attention. The passion of Possession is not just the control of the partner, but the control of the room, the interest and attention of people. They know how to seduce and provoke the attraction of others, and use it as means of creating “targets” of his possessive violence and control.
“𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘭𝘦 𝘐 𝘩𝘢𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 (𝘐 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘪𝘵'𝘴 𝘢 𝘤𝘳𝘢𝘻𝘺 𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘢) 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘐 𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘥. 𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘣𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘦”

Lascivious, Unfaithful
This is the most sexual and physical type of all Enneagram (“the conservation E7 as the most openly lascivious, next to the sexual E8, of the enneatypes” - Golosos). The sexual lust intensifies their need for stimulation. This makes a lot of the most neurotic versions of the type unfaithful - there's a desire to possess the other but they do not allow thesmelves to surrender, because that's their wound. Giving in to intimacy an love would make them touch the emotional vulnerability they so desperately try to forget.
“𝘐 𝘧𝘦𝘭𝘵 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘱𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘰𝘸𝘯𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨. 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘯. 𝘉𝘺 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘐 𝘧𝘦𝘭𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘰𝘸𝘯𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘥 𝘰𝘣𝘫𝘦𝘤𝘵, 𝘮𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘱𝘭𝘦, 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘥 𝘯𝘰 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘢 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘮𝘦. Dionysian Innocence
Like E2, they carry the most powerful of the Dionysian spirit: the intoxication, the celebration of life and pleasure, losing oneself in the sensations of the world... Despite their violence and ruthlessness, they carry an innocence view in life: pleasure is seen as pure, desirable.
Vengeful, Rebellious
Related to Possession and the Dionysian spirit, they actively defend their behavior regardless of how dangerous and destructive it can be. If the self-preservation killed their father and is now alone, and if the social killed their father to protect the mother, the sexual learned there's a good taste in the act of patricide. There's pleasure in not just making things even, but creating unbalance on their favor. They go about life killing the pathernal figures of society - The father, the teacher, the laws and State, God itself.
“𝘐 𝘬𝘯𝘦𝘸 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘮𝘺 𝘧𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘩𝘢𝘥 𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘦𝘹𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘊𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘤 𝘊𝘩𝘶𝘳𝘤𝘩. 𝘐 𝘬𝘯𝘦𝘸 𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘪𝘥 𝘣𝘳𝘪𝘣𝘦𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘺 𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘴𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘭𝘴 (𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘊𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘤). 𝘈𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯, 𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘺 𝘴𝘱𝘰𝘬𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘶𝘥𝘦𝘳, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘰 𝘐 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘸 𝘶𝘱, 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘐 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘣𝘶𝘺 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘎𝘰𝘥.”
Disrespectful, Intolerant of Limits
Related to the previous trait, they feel good disrespecting norms, limits, rules. More than getting the attention of people by being charming, they get attention by being transgressors. A lot of types transgress limits (we can think of Sexual 4 Marquis of Sade's obscenity), but SX 8 uses a direct confrontation with the source of power, often getting popularity by defending what other's think but are too afraid to say it.
Exploitative, Manipulates
They use the other as means of getting whst they want, often using charm and seduction with the purpose of getting something from them. If they other doesn't give, they can forcefully take it.
Omnipotence
There's a confusion between desire and reality, carrying a sense of almighty strength that whatever they think they can do, they will. There's a delusional detachment from their own limitations.

Taylor Swift Songs as Enneagram Personality Types
The Enneagram is a personality test that classifies your personality in one of nine categories, each with different traits. Most of Taylor Swift's songs fall into two of the personality types: type 4 (the individualist) and type 9 (the peacemaker). The songs on these lists are mostly in album order - however, there are a few added onto the ends of a few of the lists that took me a little longer to place that come out of order.
TYPE 1: THE REFORMER
The reformer tends to be rational. This person is idealistic and principled - they live by their values. They are purposeful and self-controlled, and tend to be perfectionists. The songs I classified as Type 1's are songs that focus on the ideals in relationships and life. They're songs where Taylor has a purpose, and some of them tend to have more rational thoughts behind them.

Mary's Song (Oh My My My)
Fifteen
Untouchable
We Were Happy
Don't You

TYPE 2: THE HELPER
The helper is a caring person who genuinely cares about other people. They tend to be interpersonal and generous. These people are people-pleasing, and can be possessive. The songs I classified as Type 2's are ones where she clearly shows caring for other people, sometimes to the extent of people-pleasing. She tends to be possessive in some of these songs, too.

TYPE 3: THE ACHIEVER
The achiever is a success-oriented, pragmatic, and hard working person. This person is very driven and adaptive, and is very image-conscious. The songs classified under this category show how conscious Taylor is of her own image. They're the songs where she's trying to show herself in a positive light. These are the songs where she shows herself as a hard worker and just how successful she is, without caring about those who try to bring her down.

Shake It Off
Call It What You Want

TYPE 4: THE INDIVIDUALIST
The individualist tends to be withdrawn and sensitive. This person is self-absorbed and dramatic, and tends to be temperamental. This person is very expressive. These songs are dramatic and temperamental, the ones where Taylor is bolder about herself - she is in the right in all of these songs, even when she isn't.

TYPE 5: THE INVESTIGATOR
The investigator is intense and cerebral - they tend to think more with their brains than with their hearts. They are perceptive and innovative, but tend to be secretive and isolated. The songs classified as Type 5's are the ones where Taylor finds herself isolated and alone. A lot of these songs tend to be very intelligently written.

TYPE 6: THE LOYALIST
The loyalist is committed and security-oriented. They tend to be anxious and suspicious of those around them. They are responsible and engaging. Taylor tends to be anxious and suspicious in a lot of the songs I classified as Type 6's. They're the songs where she's seeking security and comfort, but may not always be receiving it. Things are going wrong in many of these songs.

TYPE 7: THE ENTHUSIAST
The enthusiast is spontaneous and fun-loving. They are busy and versatile, but they tend to be a bit distractible and scattered. These songs have a lot of energy and are fun. These are the dance songs, the ones that make you want to move. This is the smallest list of the nine personality types. While a lot of Taylor Swift songs could fall under this personality type, most of them tend to fall under another type better, hence why this list is so small.

They are decisive and willful, and oftentimes tend to be confrontational. The songs under this category tend to be confrontational and angry. Many are songs where she is feeling confident in herself. These songs tend to have a lot of energy, but aren't as happy and energetic as Type 7 songs.

me complaining abt dialogue encompassing 8s will get old fast, but one of the many things that grates on me is how 8w7-biased most descriptions and expectations of the type are. 8w9 can & often does look altogether different
for example, all 8s have a high tolerance for discomfort & will actively put themselves in it one way or another. but i've observed 8w7s will actively work to get out of it if enveloped by it, or get it over with as soon as possible if it's necessary. whereas 8w9s seem to like stewing in it until we've forced the broth to stop boiling, or it does so on its own (or, often more realistically, we just no longer have skin to burn off anymore...lmao)

Hi!!! I have this character that i am sure is an 8 but it's a little hard to decide his wing, tritype and instinctual variants stacking. Do u have something that could help me?
I apologize for the bother and have a nice day/night 🌷
so you're an enneagram 8...
determining your wings
8w7:
usually estps and estjs
more excitable/excited, slightly more impulsive
"self-destructive"
more "rebellious" and moves against authority
overestimate themselves often
punches first
8w9:
usually istp's or esfp's
calmer, mellowed, "controlled" anger
hides and isolates when stressed (not anger), disengages with the world, "numbs" themself
doesn't fight until provoked
instinctual variants of an e8
sx8: loves rebelling the most, attention seeking, often use relationships to boost self-esteem, strongly opinionated about others close to them, "intense" and passionate (this is a big part of sx8's), tendency to be unfiltered, emotions tend to be displayed more obvious, often mistaken for sx 4's
so8: rebels most against social norms, most likely to disregard self, hyperaware of injustices occurring around themselves, often holds onto concepts of betrayal and sacrifice, often mistaken for enneagram types (1,9, or 2), may "test" those around them, using their aggression to protect others
sp8: often mistaken for enneagram 5's, very materialistic, often perceives the world as "harsh" or "ruthless," withdrawn and quiet, most afraid of being taken advantage of, cares about people close to themselves very strongly, may be seemingly unempathetic

IDK how to explain this in a coherent way yet but 8s and 3s, disintegrating into Withdrawn types, are not always going to confront you when stressed.
I've gained this information from observing even the most memeworthy and murderous of 8s who you could not miss as 8s. They will have their moments of being publicly extra, but they will often not do anything about a situation that pisses them off because they expect other people not to understand them and all their esoteric perspectives. they will find outlets for their rage which do not address the problem. Sometimes this outlet is the people actually making them angry; often it isn’t, because they want to keep their job or use these people later in a revenge scheme or whatever. What I'm describing is all 8 -> 5, disintegration to 5 but with total awareness of the 8 anger that actual 5s don't have.
the difference between 8s and 9s is not how willing to confront you they are, it is how aware of their anger and what is making them angry they are. 9s going to 6 struggle to be aware of what is making them angry because they are moving to an indecisive 6. 8s know exactly when and why they are angry, they are moving to the decisive individualist 5.
8-9 liners (8w9 and 9w8) have a confusing time with deciding where the line between knowing you're angry (8w9) and not knowing you're angry (9w8) truly is. because it is all a gradient rather than a 0 or 1, yes or no. there would be no wings in enneagram if anything was black and white.
8s that have had any experience and learned from it have learned to hide (all of this is 8 -> 5 stuff). the challenge for 8s is actually learning to hide less and put themselves on the line with all their controversial shit, in a way that is not imposing but truly vulnerable to the needs of others (8 -> 2). 8's controversial nature comes from the mentally isolated little 5 within us which thinks whatever thoughts it wants unhinged and does not mentally show regard for authority at all.

Subtype Trait Structures: sp8
Thick-skinned
The lustful have a deficiency in the experience to feel things, and in the self-preservation this is more pronounced by a physical resistance to pain, which often leads to risk-taking and a feeling of being impenetrable.
Insensitive
Related to the previous trait, there's the disconnection from feeling which comes from the denial of their own weaknesses and vulnerability. They wanna forget about their inner child that so deeply suffered, and are now unforgiving of themselves and others.
Existential Emptiness, «Demand»
Like all self-preservation subtypes, there's a sense of lack, a fear of being with no resources, no chances to survive. The healthy functioning of the instinct is corrupted by Lust, which craves intensity, leading into a voracity and demand that cover the fear of abandonment, vulnerability, betrayal.
Blind To The Other, Callous
The other does not exist as free agents, they're either potential enemies or useful objects for the assertion of their desires. If they ever develop a close bond, it'll most likely operate under the basis of “I command, you obey”.
Cynical, Hopelessness
The childhood was marked by aggression, humiliation, violence, and a real sense of danger. Like E5, E8 equates love with violence, and so they resign from the hopes of being loved in a world that is seemingly a jungle that goes by the law of survival of the strongest.
Masked Antisocial
As Naranjo said, they're wolves in sheep's clothing. They're the most antisocial and detached from humanity, but they're driven by personal satisfaction, so they do not intend to make their lust noticed. They prefer to walk about life without getting attention, only concerned with their own pleasure and nothing else.
Strategic
This subtype is less impulsive than the other two. There's a greater use of intellect as a way to guarantee power and the stability of their possessions, and they often use knowledge as means of ursuping what's desired (Henry VIII orientation to theology, in the process of going against the church).
Hedonist
There's the egocentric need for pleasure, especially earthly ones. Here we see a harsh, masculine looking individual, smoking a cuban cigar, carrying himself as the most important person, but without caring about what others think of them, saying to the barman “Hey! Another one.”
Independent
They don't need anyone or anything, and if they ever do, they'll get it through manipulation or forcefully steal it. Need is something they repress the most, asking is not an option.
