i’m curious about the e8 sin of lust/excess, i’m an e9 and i do relate to the “self laziness” thing but i also definitely crave the sensory experience and stimulation, the satisfaction, the “adventure” and feeding of my “hunger” and to do what i want autonomously and to live life to the fullest/on “10” - but i’m also a se dom with a 7 fix lmao 😭 so i wonder where the distinction is i guess?
"hunger"
what an interesting, complex, beautiful, stimulating question 🥺🥺 mamma mia
e7: gluttony
i feel like the difference between e7 and e8 is the same difference between gluttony and lust.
lust (8) is all about intensity or "quality." gluttony (7) is all about "quantity."
up to some point, an 8 will be satisfied with what they have, but 7's don't really ever feel satisfied. an 8 will seek joy, pleasure and whatnot until they feel "powerful" or "in control." a 7 won't ever feel like they have enough no matter how much they have.
another difference is that 8's are much more focused on a set amount or specific pleasure. for example, they might have a certain vision that they really really really want to travel the world (as you say, is your "adventure"). drinking might make them happy, but they could never substitute that for traveling.
a 7 on the other hand will find a way to fulfill themselves no matter what. if the are unable to travel, they'll "fill the hole" with other things: gambling, watching tv, etc. sure, they might be small differences. but they get the same feeling from all.
the 8 seeks a "thing." the 7 seeks a "feeling"
e9: numbness
i think e9 and e8's difference is relatively clear in terms of hunger, but e9 and e7 are very very similar in the aspect of indulgences you describe- especially an sp9.
descriptions just don't do them justice when trying to tell the difference, so i will give an example:
an enneagram 7 likes to party. they come back from a night out, and they feel great! but after a while that feeling goes away and they just want more. they go to another one, and another one, and another one...and they keep thinking that each time will be better than the last. it's a constant chase, but it's as if they can never really achieve it
an enneagram 9 has already given up. they realize that parties are unfulfilling and recognize how it might harm them. but a single moment they feel happy at the party is basically enough for them to keep doing it. it's almost as if instead of chasing, like the e7, they have just "given up" and let themselves indulge. they kind of have this "eh, whatever" thinking: "i am going to seek this out anyways so might as well go"

Enneagram Type 8
An overview of an enneagram type. Not an expert. May change later.
___
Center: Gut/Instinct/Anger
Other triads: Reactive, Assertive, Rejection
Basic motivation: Be strong
Basic fear: Vulnerability, seeming weak
Wings: 8w7, 8w9
Disintegration/stress: 5
Integration/growth: 2
___
Traits
- Strengths -
Honest and direct
Protective of others
Decisive
Independent
Justice seeking
- Weaknesses -
Overly aggressive
Will never willingly be vulnerable
Can be overwhelming
Too controlling
Ruthlessness
___
Wings
- 8w7 -
8w7s tend to have a lot of energy that they use to achieve goals and grab opportunities. They especially thrive on new experiences. They are direct and straightforward in both actions and words. 8w7s can be more demanding of others and impulsive.
- 8w9 -
The 9 wing helps calm the typical 8 core. 8w9s tend to be more empathetic and a little more patient. They are inclined to help others rather than run them over. They are not afraid of conflict, but they do not like it either. However, they will confront a situation calmly if needed. They are more considerate of others but will still fiercely chase for things they want.
___
Disintegration: 5
Disintegrating to 5 causes an 8 to withdraw from the world. They can be too warped up in their minds as they ruminate over all their issues. They become preoccuppied with possible threats, resulting in paranoia and anxiety. They feel powerless and out of control.
Integration: 2
Integration to 2 causes an 8 to become gentler and more considerate of others. They are still protective but in a calmer manner. An integrated 8 learns to be more compassionate. They become more comfortable with showing their vulnerabilities with others - they don't have to burden things alone or be aggressive in order to appear strong. Strength shows up in many calmer and kinder ways.
___
Subtypes of 8
- Sp 8 -
Sp 8s focus on gaining material and financial security as a way to assert full control and power. Having success in both makes them feel confident and independent, fully free. They try to protect themselves and others close to them by taking on the roles of protector/guardian. Being in full control and power makes them feel secure as they know what to do to not get hurt. However, they can be overwhelming to others unintentionally as they believe their protection/guidance is toughening others up and building resilience.
- Sx 8 -
Sx 8 is the most rebellious; this subtype is not afraid to break the rules and forge their own path. They can be impulsive and intense. They want to show they're very strong and confident and will take on roles of leadership to solidify this image more. They want to attract others with their passionate and magnetic energy. Although intense, it is with the purpose of creating change. This subtype can be inspiring and influential while also being argumentative and direct.
- So 8 -
So 8s use their power and influence to be an act of service to their community. They are loyal and protective, ready to fight against injustice and unfairness. So 8s seek power over social groups and hierarchies, wanting to protect themselves and others. They can influence others into a rebellion with them. This subtype greatly values trust and loyalty as it's hard for 8 to genuinely trust others in general.

Enneagram 8 Subtypes Explained
Social 8 "Complicity"
As the Counter-type of Enneagram 8 this subtype looks to fight for others and find strength in the connection with other individuals. Unlike the other subtypes of E8 they conceptualize power as a thing to be shared and enjoyed by others. This subtype is usually attracted to leader roles in which they can help others get equal treatment. This subtype tends to have a softer and less aggressive edge than the other 8s which may cause them to look like 1s or 7s.
Characters: Leia Organa, Gon, Esmeralda, Luffy, Thomas Shelby, Samantha Wilkins, Damien Wayen and Korra.
Self Preservation 8 "Survival"
The most 8 of all 8s; this subtype is focused on getting what they want. For them it's about always having the last word and doing as they please. From this description they may sound a bit like an Sp7 however, unlike the Sp7 its not about doing so because its fun or enjoyable to them but rather because its about what they want (or because they can). This subtypes can be viewed as rebellious, uncaring and unrelenting on their approach to life. It's impossible to mistype them as they usually are very on the nose about their reasoning (if you have difficulty telling them apart from SX4 and SX6 then simply make reference to the core desire of the former types).
Characters: Wolverine, Vi, Soldier Boy, Faith Lehane, Katherine Pierce, Bakugou, Nobara Kugisaki, Kazuya Mishima.
Sexual 8 "Possession"
This 8s carves nothing more than to create a strong emotional connection. They are like the inverse of a SX2; the SX8 looks to find someone who they can show their control and strength to. The intensity of desire is for the SX8 is of most importance. It's about what having that intense emotional attachment to that gives them the sense of strength and power they crave. However, unlike the SX2 they DONT look to please their partners needs or filter themselves for them.
Characters: Inuyasha, Anakin Skywalker, Rogue, Power, Nancy Downs, Ko Moon-Young, Tyler Durden and Nate Jacobs.

Can I please request a MBTI Type, Big Three, Enneagram Type and Moral Alignment for Hope Mikaelson (The Originals) please?
Hi there, I hope you like this a lot!
Hope Mikaelson's MBTI Type, Big Three, Enneagram Type and Moral Alignment
MBTI Type: ISFP [The Adventurer]
ISFP types need plenty of personal space. Though they enjoy building connections with people, they need alone time to think and recharge.
They are very observant, especially focusing on the details more than the overall view. They live in the present and tend to base decisions on what they can see right now.
Adventurers also prioritize emotion when making decisions. They prefer to follow what feels right.
They don’t like schedules, but instead prefer to keep their options open. They are adaptable, spontaneous, and like to challenge the need for strict rules.
Big Three: Taurus Sun, Pisces Moon and Scorpio Rising
Taurus Sun: The Bull tends to be drawn to a creative, indulgent lifestyle — and we wouldn’t expect anything less from a Venus ruled sign. They're also thought to have a stubborn, loyal and grounded personality.
Pisces Moon: Pisces Moons are hyper-attuned to the needs and emotions of others. They're likely to predict what's on your mind before you even say it.
Scorpio Rising: Prone to turning heads, Scorpio ascendents ooze with magnetism and dynamism. They're not known to back away from a challenge.
Enneagram Type: 8w9 [The Diplomat]
Basic Fear: Eights with a nine wing fear being hurt by others. They avoid situations in which they have less control, generally preferring to be in positions of leadership.
Basic Desire: Their basic desire is to guard themselves against threats and control their own destiny. They may express this by asserting independence at a young age.
Diplomats defend themselves by building emotional walls and denying vulnerability. They seek to appear strong, subconsciously believing that being too emotional will make them seem weak.
Moral Alignment Type: Neutral Good [The Benevolent]
These characters seek to do good, but are flexible in how they achieve it, valuing both order and freedom.

JuJutsu Kaisen Personality Types Part 4: Megumi Fushiguro

Megumi is my favorite character in JuJutsu Kaisen (and that's saying a lot!), yet I genuinely have no idea what his Enneagram will be. Let's find out!
Megumi Fushiguro's Enneagram
Wound: Megumi's father disappeared before he was in the first grade, so he was basically raised by his sister, who was also a child.
Wounding message: The world is reliably unfair.
Core desire: to make the world better for kind people like his sister and Yuji.
Core fear: failing to help his sister, letting Yuji die.
Defense mechanism: Megumi is extremely shut down when we meet him, and disinterested in most things if they don't serve his purposes. In middle school, he beat up all the bullies and delinquents. During canon, he's critical of others and rarely opens up or shows emotion.
Strengths: Megumi is dutiful, loyal, a quick learner, compassionate, hard-working, and reflective
Challenges: Megumi is self-sacrificing, humorless, closed-off, distant, and simmering with repressed rage.
When healthy: Megumi connects more readily with others, lets himself smile, he's relaxed, curious, adaptable, and more able to see the good in others.
When unhealthy: Megumi is closed off, self-sacrificing, depressed, angry, shut down, and fearful.
Looking at all of this, here's what connects when I go back to the Enneagram post:
Wound: could be 4, 5, 6, 8, or 9
Wounding message: could be 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8
Core desire: 6 or 8
Core fear: 5, 6, 8, or 9
Defense mechanism: 5 or 8
Strengths: 1 or 8
Challenges: 1, 4, 5, 6, 8, or 9
When healthy: 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, or 9
When unhealthy: 1, 3, 7, 8, or 9
Megumi is an Enneagram 8.
This makes a lot of sense to me, because Megumi's defining emotion is so clearly anger. I don't think he acts like a stereotypical 8 as much during canon, but the scenes of him beating up the bullies in middle school are classic 8.
From Personality Path:
Anger is overexpressed in Type 8. Experienced as a rush of energy in the body, anger can rise quickly from a wide range of factors, but the underlying trigger is usually vulnerability. Shame or Sadness is often triggered after a Type 8 overreacts to a situation, letting the rush of anger dictate their reaction. The response may seem appropriate to them in the moment, but upon reflection or due to the consequences, they may feel shameful or sad about their overreaction. Fear may be triggered when they feel they can’t control a situation. For most Type 8s, fear quickly passes through the body, transforming to anger. Vulnerability is often at the bottom of each of the three core emotions for Type 8s.
Wing
The Enneagram Institute calls 8w7s "The Maverick" and 8w9s "The Bear." Megumi has much more expression of 9 than 7, so I'd say he's 8w9.
From EnneaApp:
Exert leadership in a steady and grounded way to achieve control
is thoughtful and methodical in implementation of personal vision
Protective of inner circle; may dominate in a cool-collected way
Less aggressive than 8w7; gentle/caring underneath strong exterior
More introverted than 8w7, likes a quiet, reserved, steady lifestyle
Subtype
Since Megumi tends to focus on the people in his inner circle (Tsumiki and Yuji most clearly, but also Nobara and Gojo), I think he's most likely a SO Eight.
EnneaApp describes SO Eights like this:
Lust for friendship/camaraderie; very loyal, life-long friend; interested in fairness
Friendship is trust extended to those you protect and by whom you are protected
Friendship is a way of surviving through tested alliances and common purpose
Lavish and generous; will give a friend the shirt off their back/leap to their defense
May be the group's protector or provider; can be hostile to threatening outsiders
Outstanding leader; holds the community together, strengthens weaker members
Shows feelings within close group only; to see them vulnerable must be earned
Friendship bond can cover lust for power; gains advantage through association
More willing to apologize and/or see other perspectives than other 8 subtypes
Test friend's loyalty; in group focus on who else has power to corner authority
Loves the excitement of a righteous struggle for the truth or a quest for fairness
Feels "too much/too loud," feels dishonest shrinking down, yet desires to belong
Basic fear is of having one's intentions misunderstood in a group setting
May feel easily betrayed/hold a grudge; people are friends or enemies, no grey
The only part of this description that didn't sound like Megumi at first was feeling "too much/too loud," but maybe that's what we see when he first uses his Domain Expansion and we see how much rage was simmering under the surface that whole time.
Tritype
With Eight as his Gut type, I see Five or Six as his most likely Head type and I'm less clear on his Heart type.
After reading the various possible tritypes (258, 268, 358, 368, 458, and 468), I found 4-5-8, the Scholar, to be the best fit. From Katherine Fauvre's website:
If you are a 458, you are intuitive, knowledgeable, and protective. You want to be original, wise, and straightforward. You study what makes people tick and quickly form and share strong opinions about what you learn. Somewhat introverted, you are identified as being someone who is an intuitive, and intellectual strategic thinker. You look to the past and identify great historical thinkers and philosophers you wish to emulate. You see and focus on the interconnections that others often miss.
Megumi is a creative and tenacious opponent in battle who's quick to take in large amounts of information and make decisions.
Megumi's MBTI
Here's how I see Megumi's Type Dynamics:
Sensing: Si - "Compares present facts and situations to past experience. Excellent recall for specific details. Trusts and remembers the past. Stores sensory data that is important to them for future use."
Thinking: Te - "Seeks logic and consistency in the outside world. Concern for external laws and rules. Logical, analytical decision makers who organize the environment to achieve goals."
Feeling: Fi - "Seeks harmony of action and thoughts with personal values. May not always articulate those values. Empathetic, sensitive, and idealistic."
iNtuiting: Ne (when stressed) - "lose sight of details and facts, impulsive behaviors, worry over multiple possibilities, too many options (catastrophize the future)"
This would make his Type Dynamics Si Te Fi Ne, and his MBTI ISTJ (The Inspector).
Here's how the Myers & Briggs Foundation describes ISTJ:
Quiet, serious, earn success by being thorough and dependable. Practical, matter-of-fact, realistic, and responsible. Decide logically what should be done and work toward it steadily, regardless of distractions. Take pleasure in making everything orderly and organized—their work, their home, their life. Value traditions and loyalty.
So, to summarize:
Enneagram: SO 8w9 (The Challenger/The Bear)
Tritype: 4-5-8 (The Scholar)
MBTI: ISTJ (The Inspector)
Megumi is hard-working, private, and intensely loyal. He's a logical, strategic thinker who's nonetheless able to improvise and be creative when challenged. He likes predictability and routine, and has a fairly straightforward (if grouchy) demeanor. He's holding a huge amount of anger, but his anger is informed by his deep love for Tsumiki, Yuji, and anyone else he considers close. He truly comes alive in battle.
As a side note, I know lots of people were frustrated by the end of Megumi's arc, where he expressed interest in living for someone else rather than himself. I actually think, because he's an Enneagram 8, and therefore he goes to 2 when he's healthiest, living for someone else is something he can only do when he's in a relatively healthy place. For him, living for someone else is actually a way of expressing what's most important to him.
Anyway, I love Megumi. He deserves all the happiness after everything he went through.

ENNEAGRAM EIGHT INTRODUCTION (DOGO ARGENTINO)

Eight perceives the world as harsh and competitive. The objective of life is to overcome adversity and master their own life.
Their (unconscious) fear is being disempowered or vulnerable.
SEEKS: AUTONOMY By pushing their boundaries and “impulses” outward to avoid being controlled.
ASSERT : THEIR VITALITY “Hesitation gets you nowhere.” “Why should I restrain control ?“

8s are driven by a desire to live through high energy or power as a way to deny their vulnerability. They strive to assert control of their life to avoid being at the mercy of others who could restrain their desires or autonomy. They get hooked on that constant adrenaline rush of pushing limits and embracing their vitality.

Healthy 8s use their willpower to take initiative and build something meaningful and positive for themselves, while encouraging others to exploit their own inner strengths. They enjoy tackling obstacles and overcoming them, yet they also know when to step back and conserve their energy or resources.
Average 8s struggle to use their willpower effectively, often taking or pushing more than what they need. They can become too reactive and confrontational whenever something or someone is in their way. Their need to constantly assert their autonomy might push others away and create unnecessary conflicts or problems.

Healthy 8s are courageous but humble with their own limits, understanding the importance of nurturing their energy. They are quick to act when problems or opportunities arise, unafraid to navigate challenges in the moment. However, they have learned to reflect on their actions for more thoughtful decisions.
Average 8s often take too much, initially excited by the challenges or intensity they put themselves through. They end up taking unnecessary risks, disregarding warnings or rules while pushing themselves (or others) beyond healthy limits. They take their well-being and stamina for granted, often leading to exhaustion.

Healthy 8s respond calmly when they feel wronged without resorting to excessive force. They also use their assertiveness to protect and advocate for others. When they recognize their vulnerability, they are able to display immense love, generosity and loyalty to the people they care about.
Average 8s struggle to acknowledge their hurt feelings, projecting an aggressive or larger-than-life presence when feeling wronged or hurt. They have trust issues and maintain a defiant stance to protect themselves from being betrayed or disempowered. This makes it harder for them to connect or collaborate with others.

Dead Boy Detectives: Jenny Green [ISTP 8w9]
MBTI Type: ISTP Jenny is detached and analytical, but not all that interested in her tenants or what they like to do in their spare time. Provided they can pay their rent, she doesn’t care what they get up to, and has no moral judgments about it. She focuses on her one interest, which is chopping meat, as a visceral experience, but has also covered her body in tattoos as a means of…

Can a isfp be E8?
No. Reading through the e8 chapter of Naranjo’s Character and Neurosis, it almost immediately becomes clear that this type contradicts very heavily to rational types like ISFP. I highly recommend going through this chapter in your own time, but in short: e8 is a very sensory-motor dominant type, this means that their primary focus is with the concrete, present, and external, as opposed to an Fi leading type, who is going to pay more attention to their internal reactions to particular information. Even with Se second, it’s just not going to be as prevalent.
