ON GIVEN NAME AND DIMINUTIVES: while Byanka Mikhailovna Starkova is the name she was given at birth, Byanka has post her defection legally changed her name to what is essentially an anglicised form of it. Hence her current name being Bianca Mikhailovna Stark. Being of Russian/Soviet descent, diminutives are often used on a day-to-day basis to convey familiarity, endearment/affection and warmth, which also means that it is typically only appropriate to be used by friends, family and loved ones. There are also some forms of diminutives that are meant to be used more as a slight or to reflect pejorative emotions.

You may have noticed that I often refer to Bianca as Byasha. This is because Byasha is the neutral and short form diminutive for her given name Byanka which, if she still lived in Russia or in Slavic communities, is what she would likely be addressed by. If a/your character is aware of- and would like to pay respects to her cultural background, they are permitted to address her as Byasha.

Her middle name Mikhailovna is a patronymic customarily used in Slavic cultures. The patronymic is derived from the father's given name, and for women in Russian the patronymics end in -ovna or -evna. Byasha's father was named Mikhail and thus her patronymic became Mikhailovna (Михайло��на) (daughter of Mikhail).

Guide of diminutives to use given the relationship: ╰ Bianca, (anglicised — the name she passes by in modern times and will always introduce herself with if there are no prior established relationship or connection). ╰ Byasha (Бяша), (neutral, short form of her birth name Byanka — technically anyone could refer to her as Byasha if they are indeed aware of her background and birth name). ╰ Byashunya* (Бяшуня), Byanichka (Бяничка), (endearing, denoting familiarity and friendliness, used by people with whom she share a platonic relationship) ╰ Byanushka* (Бянушка), Byanusha (Бянуша), Byashenka (Бяшенька), (affectionate and denoting a certain personal intimacy and closeness. This is reserved exclusively for romantic partners, and even then she is very picky about whom ) ╰ Byashka (Бяшка), (very pejorative diminutive, it's exclusively used to convey an ill relationship or as a slight to her. Do not call her this unless you are actually her enemy/want to become her enemy—and also have a death wish).
