Discovering the Lost Art of Rhabdomancy: Understanding the History and Practice of Divining for Water and Minerals
Rhabdomancy is a little-known term that refers to the practice of divining for water or minerals using a forked stick or rod. The word is derived from the Greek "rhabdos," meaning rod, and "manteia," meaning divination.
The practice of rhabdomancy dates back to ancient times and has been used in various cultures and civilizations throughout history. In ancient Greece, for example, rhabdomancers were believed to possess the ability to locate underground water sources by holding a forked stick and walking across a dry landscape. The stick would supposedly bend or move in the direction of the water, allowing the rhabdomancer to locate the source.
Rhabdomancy was also used in mining to locate ore deposits, this time with a metallic rod.
Rhabdomancy was an especially important practice in arid regions where water was scarce and vital for survival. In these areas, rhabdomancers were highly respected and their services were in great demand.
Today, rhabdomancy is a largely forgotten practice, replaced by more modern techniques for locating water and minerals. However, the term is still used in some circles, particularly by those interested in divination and the history of dowsing.
Example sentence: "The villagers hired a rhabdomancer to locate an underground water source.

The first acupuncture treatment in my life!
by: Somaly
Namaste wonderful souls and dear readers,
In the past, I don't know why I am so afraid of needle? I was born in Cambodia. I just remember when some doctors inject needles in my body. It was painful and hurt. As result, I am very scared of needles. I did not visit doctor if I was not sick. I rarely sick when I was in Cambodia. I just remembered when I was sick I was dizzy, fatigued, and had headache.
Nowadays, when my general doctor asked for blood tests, I always feel nervous and anxious. I through in my mind "why do Australia doctors need my blood test most of the time?" Well, I have more than one hundred blood test in the last five years. I just follow the health professionals instructions. I just don't look and take deep breath every-time that a phlebotomist performs their procedure.
After I did ultrasound test and got results, I found out that my health and body is not fully healing. I still have some new lumps grow near my previous surgery. Then I decided to receive acupuncture treatments.
Acupuncture treatment is expensive, new concept for me, and can be pretty scary for a person who is already afraid of needles like me. I would like to try this new method which I believed that it might help with my healing process. I am willing to do it and I hope for a better health and completely heal my body in future. I learn and understand about health and body needs. I was not aware and recognised that I have these hidden illnesses. Now I have an opportunity to be healed and be healthy again.
In my currently situation, I face the most scary and uncomfortable things by doing acupuncture. I am really honest and open with my acupuncture doctor about my health and needles anxiety. The doctor said that I have dampness health condition. I did some research some understand the root cause and diet suggestion. I had two acupuncture treatments. I feel some improvement and manage my needle anxiety. I thought "I will be okay and I will be healing" and take deep breath every-time doctor inject acupuncture needles and cupping therapy on my body points. The doctor avoid to inject many needles in my first treatment because I could build up my confidence, and manage my needle anxiety better in upcoming treatments. This was my first treatment picture look like:
I feel that I might be emotional and have an intense feeling in my heart at moments. I am not the only person who face health issues. I hope my experiences and stories could help others who have similar situation and health condition, especially, I pray for you all with better health, better future, and completely health your life. May you feel love, peace, and comfort. I am moving forward to be healthy again, better lifestyle, and bright future. these writings and share experiences help release all intense and blockage in my heart.

The Tradition and Craft of Sesame Oil Production by Chinese Manufacturers
Sesame oil is a staple in Chinese cooking, beloved for its rich, nutty flavor and aromatic qualities that bring depth to a variety of dishes. But beyond its culinary use, sesame oil holds a deep cultural significance in China, where traditional methods of processing and manufacturing this golden oil have been passed down for generations.
The History of Sesame Oil in China
Sesame oil production in China dates back thousands of years, with evidence of its use during the Han Dynasty (206 BC – 220 AD). In Chinese culture, sesame oil is more than just a cooking ingredient; it is also valued for its medicinal properties. It has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for skin care, hair health, and overall wellness due to its rich antioxidant and anti-inflammatory qualities.
Over the centuries, Chinese manufacturers have perfected the art of sesame oil production, combining time-honored techniques with modern technology to ensure high-quality oil that is not only flavorful but also nutritious.
Traditional Methods of Sesame Oil Processing
In rural parts of China, sesame oil is still produced using traditional methods that have been handed down through generations. The process typically involves the following steps:
1. Roasting the Sesame Seeds: The sesame seeds are carefully roasted to bring out their full, nutty flavor. The roasting process is critical, as it enhances the aroma and richness of the oil.
2. Grinding the Seeds: Once roasted, the sesame seeds are ground into a paste. Traditionally, this was done using stone mills, but modern manufacturers use more advanced equipment while maintaining the integrity of the traditional process.
3. Extracting the Oil: The paste is then pressed to extract the oil. In traditional methods, the paste is placed into a cloth bag and manually pressed. Some manufacturers use hydraulic presses today, which allows for a more efficient extraction process without losing the oil’s rich flavor.
4. Filtration: The extracted oil is filtered to remove any impurities. In some cases, the oil is left to settle naturally, allowing the impurities to sink to the bottom, after which the pure oil is siphoned off.
5. Bottling: Once the oil is ready, it’s bottled and sealed for distribution. High-quality Chinese sesame oil is often unrefined, preserving its natural flavor and nutritional benefits.
Chinese Manufacturers Leading the Way
Today, many Chinese companies have expanded their sesame oil production to meet global demand, blending traditional techniques with modern, eco-friendly methods. Some well-known Chinese sesame oil manufacturers include:
- Lao Gan Ma: Famous for its chili sauces, Lao Gan Ma also produces a line of sesame oil products that are loved for their robust flavor and authenticity.
- Szechuan Sesame Oil Co.: Based in Sichuan province, this company is known for producing high-quality, traditionally processed sesame oil with a focus on preserving its natural health benefits.
- Jiangxi Hairong Sesame Oil Factory: This factory combines modern technology with time-tested processes to produce premium-grade sesame oil for both domestic and international markets.
Why Chinese Sesame Oil Stands Out
Chinese sesame oil is renowned for its distinct flavor, a result of the precise roasting process and the careful attention to quality at every step of production. Here are a few reasons why it remains a favorite in kitchens worldwide:
- Rich, Nutty Flavor: The traditional roasting process enhances the natural oils within the sesame seeds, creating a deep, nutty flavor that adds complexity to dishes.
- Aromatic: Sesame oil is prized for its aroma, which infuses food with an inviting fragrance that complements stir-fries, marinades, soups, and dressings.
- Health Benefits: Rich in antioxidants, vitamin E, and healthy fats, sesame oil is not only a flavorful ingredient but also a health-boosting addition to any diet.
Popular Dishes Using Sesame Oil in Chinese Cuisine
Chinese sesame oil is a versatile ingredient used in a variety of traditional dishes, including:
- Cold Noodle Salad (凉拌面 - Liáng bàn miàn): A refreshing dish of cold noodles mixed with vegetables and drizzled with sesame oil, soy sauce, and garlic.
- Sesame Oil Chicken (麻油鸡 - Má yóu jī): A classic comfort dish, especially popular in Taiwan, where chicken is stir-fried in sesame oil and ginger, then simmered with rice wine.
- Stir-Fried Vegetables: A splash of sesame oil at the end of cooking elevates simple stir-fried greens like bok choy or spinach, adding both flavor and fragrance.
The tradition of sesame oil production in China continues to thrive, thanks to the dedication of manufacturers who respect the age-old processes while embracing modern innovation. Whether you're cooking a hearty stir-fry or seeking a natural health boost, Chinese sesame oil remains a trusted and beloved ingredient in kitchens around the world.

Traditional Methods Of Syphilis Diagnosis
This article investigates the historical techniques of diagnosing syphilis prior to the emergence of modern medicine. Physicians employed a variety of traditional approaches, such as symptom monitoring, physical examination, and archaic diagnostic equipment.
Serologic assays for diagnosing syphilis were established in the early 1900s. August von Wassermann developed the Wassermann test, the first serologic test, in 1906, which employed the complement fixation principle to detect antibodies to Treponema pallidum. The Venereal Disease Research Laboratory (VDRL) test, developed in 1946, detects antibodies to lipids generated by wounded host cells. However, it had limitations, including false-positive results.
The rapid plasma reagin (RPR) test, developed in the 1970s, exceeded the VDRL test in terms of sensitivity and specificity.Diagnoses for syphilis have altered over time. Previously, diagnosis was based on clinical signs and symptoms, as well as laboratory studies. Today, the CDC recommends a two-step syphilis test. The first phase is a nontreponemal test such as RPR or VDRL, followed by a confirmatory treponemal test such as FTA-ABS or TP-PA if the results are positive. These innovations have considerably increased the accuracy and reliability of syphilis diagnosis.

Making Bruce the kind of guy to work through his thoughts out loud when he knows hes allowed to. This leads to him rubberducking off of anyone who will let him, including, but not limited to his boys and assorted JL members. He latches on, and suddenly, this is not Bruce's Case, its Our case.
Despite him doing this to anyone that will listen, Clark tends to be the most available victim due to his extreme patience, his investigative skills, and love of listening to people ramble at him <3
#superman#batman#superbat#clark kent#bruce wayne#dc#he has to problem solve soooooooo much; he mustve made it a habit at some point#everyones at least a little entertained by it. sometimes the brain behaves the way it wants to#if he has no one to bother he will resort to traditional methods#which include talking to himself for hours OR talking to a little duckie or bat or toy or whatever little guy is on his console for the day#which is objectively funny and entertaining when you rollback camera footage#but hes always grumpier after an afternoon with no headway#so clark is called in before Bruce gives himself an aneurysm lmao
