The only thing I don't like at amusement parks are the crowds...and screaming kids, I guess. Felt bad for one who lost her stuffy on a train ride from the picnic pavilions. Hope she gets it back, or something to replace it.

Having fun anyway. Here's a bunch of pretty flowers at the entrance gates. If I take anymore pictures (that don't have people in them), I'll post them.

YAY I love the chapter of Les Mis where Fantine rides a roller coaster!

About three o’clock the four couples, frightened at their happiness, were sliding down the Russian mountains, a singular edifice which then occupied the heights of Beaujon, and whose undulating line was visible above the trees of the Champs-Élysées.

The “Russian Mountains” were an early version of roller coasters. They were (obviously) invented in Russia, and then became a Thing in France when Russia occupied the country after helping defeat Napoleon in the battle of Waterloo, which resulted in a lot of cultural exchange.

Obviously at this point roller coaster technology was in its infancy (they were basically just carts that rolled down a track.)

But yeah, I wish adaptations would just let Fantine zoom around on her little roller coaster for a bit. She goes through so much later on that she deserves that. Let her have this one thing.

Two days later, Eddie sends Buck a video of Christopher's maiden ride on the roller coaster.

CowboyDiazster: The underground part was a HUGE hit. He said that my “Xbox friend” should always help build roller coasters.

Buck can't help but feel pleased. And the fact that Eddie's kid's gamertag is LittleDiazster is very cute.

Iron Gwazi — A classic coaster reimagined. The original, fully-wooden Gwazi opened in 1999, at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, and had high reviews, but due to difficulties with upkeep, closed in 2015. Using some of the original support structure, Rocky Mountain Construction rose Gwazi from the dead in 2022. Despite delays and pushbacks during the pandemic, Iron Gwazi opened as the tallest, steepest, and fastest hybrid coaster in all of North America. Iron Gwazi reaches a height of 206 feet at the peak of its lift hill, before throwing you over the edge down a 91-degree drop. Including multiple heart stopping elements, one new element that emerged from the ride is known as the Death Roll, named well after the rides theming of crocodiles. The ride reaches a max speed of 76 mph, far surpassing its original version.
