Neil grinned as he handed Todd's poem back to him. "You're really good at writing. So good. I like a person like that."

Todd's eyes twinkled. "Yeah?" he asked, hopefully.

Neil nodded. "You know, if you were a girl, I'd marry you," he said casually. "Because we get along well, encourage each other to keep going, and we could save money by doing that."

Todd stared at him. Neil brought up the "if you were a girl" a lot, but Todd always thought to himself, "You don't need to be a girl. I love you as a boy." But he knew he couldn't say that.

Instead, Todd just scoffed and said that Neil would have to do the cooking and laundry. Todd offered to clean the house and do dishes, so it evened out.

If you were a girl, I would marry you. Those words always played in his head.

But now, as he clawed at the dirt of Neil's grave, only one sentence echoed back- a reply to what Neil had said months before: If you were alive, I'd marry you.

Just this entire scene, trying to be there for Todd while he’s grieving. Charlie saying “leave him be” is making me want to jump out of a window. Also, when Todd says “It’s so beautiful” idk why but I feel like he’s talking abt Neil OR he’s prob getting flash backs to that one deleted scene. I’m prob just being stupid tho.

Mr. Keating looking at Todd while Neil is giving his performance. He just knew tbh. Mr Keating Supremacy 🛐 Todd was also mouthing all the lines during this scene which just makes my heart explode every time.

I need to know what Todd and Neil talked about on those nights they were too drunk on poetry to sleep. I need to know what stupid joke gave them the giggles so bad they cried and nearly choked trying not to wake the whole school up. I need to know if Neil ever came back from practice to find Todd asleep at his desk, a half-written poem serving as his pillow. I need to know if Neil read it, mouthing the words under his breath before covering Todd with a blanket because he didn't have the heart to wake him and see him all startled even though he knew Todd's back would hurt in the morning. I need to know if Todd ever watched Neil sleep and smiled without being afraid of anyone seeing.
