I know Dc has always proclaimed Tim Drake as the best detective and the smartest Robin and he is. By conventional measurements he is the best detective and he’s very smart but I wish they would acknowledge that each Robin is incredibly smart in their own way.

Dick Grayson is a master manipulator. He’s a genius when it comes to reading people and honestly whenever I need to write young him in fanfiction I literally just do Missy for Sheldon.

He’s smart. Book smart, but also people smart and people need to acknowledge this more it pains me to see DC forget this in exchange for a far more fannon. Far less complex version of him. He’s smart! Let him be smart.

Jason Todd is also book smart, though less mathematics and science and more classical literature. That man knows his way around the collections of Fyodor Dostoyevsky and that’s not even mentioning his street smarts.

He may not be the best conventional detective but he knows how to distinguish different gangs and their territories. He knows where dealers like to run their shops and he knows when a crime is too messy to have been caused by any of the rogues in the area.

Stephanie of course is a mix of the two. She’s good with people and she’s good on the streets but she’s also for very obvious reasons amazing at puzzles. Any tricky, seemingly impossible sort of quiz she’s got it, which is especially useful when the criminals of Gotham enjoy sending their hero’s on a wild goose chase.

She’s incredibly good at seeing through riddles and word vomit and she’s an amazing detective in her own right which should be used more.

Cass has been proven to be a great detective on so many occasions and of course do we even have to mention how adept she is at reading body language?

Her knowledge of combat is obviously unmatched and I’d love to see comics take this and apply it to her detective skills. How cool would it be for her to analyse a corpse and tell the fighting style of the assailant just by noting where on the body the strikes landed?

Realistic? No, but this is comics. Let me have my fun.

Damian was obviously trained in a dozen forms of martial arts, but he’s obviously knowledgeable about other things. The LoA are eco terrorists. You’re telling me that kid doesn’t know plants?

And that’s not even mentioning his knowledge of weapons and how he knows the ins and outs of organised crimes after living surrounded by it for a decade.

Plus his undercover skills.

Duke is new to me so I don’t know as much about him, but like Jason and Steph he grew up in the narrows and was part of gang, plus he apparently survived the riddler at like age 7 (pls don’t quote me on this I know practically nothing about zero year). So I can assume he’s incredibly intelligent. Street smarts! Also his powers let him look into the past which as evidenced in WFA can be used to help solve crimes.

Like I don’t want them to be conventional detectives. Let Tim be the Sherlock Holmes of the family. He’s already shown to be very observant.

I want to see more of the batfam using their own unique skill sets to solve crimes. They’re all good detectives they just have different ways of solving crimes.

anyways YEAH megumi def inherits toji’s protective ass attitude so you bet he’s taking over when his dad isn’t around.

he's seen his dad walk around with you, the terrifying guard dog on high alert as his green eyes glare at anything that moves near you. megumi has noticed the way people hesitate to approach you bc of toji, and how toji seems to enjoy that. and soon enough megumi understands why—it's a fantastic way to keep you to himself. so absolutely he's gonna follow in his father's footsteps.

megumi will get grumpy at anyone who has your attention, glaring over your shoulder as you walk through the supermarket if he notices their eyes on you. especially if it’s a man. what can he say, his dad has raised him well. it just…doesn’t usually have the desired effect. most of the time he’s met with soft coos and squeals when he tries to mimic his dad’s aggressive behavior.

it irritates him, because he wants to be like toji in this regard.

but when he’s competing with his dad??? oh all the loyalty is gone. the two of them are always clinging to you, eager for attention like the big puppies they are. megumi has inherited toji's aggresiveness, but he's much more casual about it. even as a lil baby he will find sneaky ways to pull you away from toji, and that just irks the older wolf.

he tries saying anything and you're just like ????? which is exactly what megumi wants LMAO :33

toji just has to sit there and sulk bc obviously gumi is your lil baby and you're gonna show him all the attention he wants. just don't be surprised if your bigger wolf ends up grumpy and brooding—he hates sharing. it's so funny though bc they're both so sneaky so you'll just be caught between their schemes to get you to show them affection.

Okay so I started transcribing book 4 and I was going to save all my thoughts for the review post, but I HAVE to gush about this.

That’s delightfully not Alfonse.

Since I have written the past few books down, I can immediately compare and contrast how Alfonse and “Alfonse” talk. The differences are immediate. That little “Huh.” ended up striking me as odd, so I opened the search feature on the document and found that huh has only been uttered three times prior to this. Once by Sharena in book 1 and twice by Ylgr in book 2. Alfonse has never uttered a huh in his life, which means that’s a little Kiran speech pattern!!! Cool!!!

Kiran also tends to talk slower and meander a little in their sentences. So far, there has been an ellipses in nearly every “Alfonse” textbox. It’s because they’re thinking. They have a lot of new information to process on account of finding themselves in a brand new realm and Peony info dropping weird tidbits about how this place works with the unexpectedness of an elephant dropping from the sky. So, thanks to some multitasking, they seem to be picking their words as they say them, leading into fun little pauses. Also very cool! Then, in the line above in particular, they suddenly pick up the pace by letting off a series of rapid fire questions. Has to be cut off by Anna or they would have kept going. It does not feel like how Alfonse would question the situation at all— he’s usually very pointed and specific. This instead feels like the speed at which Kiran normally thinks. They’re pausing because they’re picking from the thirty questions their brain just asked.

Also!!! Look at that blunt ass hell “I’m sorry. I’m confused.” That’s two very modern sounding two-word sentences back to back. It’s absolutely not how Alfonse talks. No “my apologies” here their ass is confused!!!!

I don’t really got a point for this one folks, I just really like how fun Book 4 is on a reread. That’s my little guy officer! That’s the bastard that escalated FEH into a hyperfixation!!! Get them. Put them a container and give it a little shake.
