"In the pursuit of great we failed to do good" is a quote that, in my opinion, transcends the scene it was said in

it's applicable in almost every scene/part in the show. Vander wanted greatness and failed to do good, he noticed and stopped, which is also what caused the fall out with Silco.

The obvious with Jayce and Viktor, of course

but the council too. The entire council fails to do good but does "great" things despite that. Decisions that ruin lives, that destroy people and communities. In their pursuit of great they left people behind and are now suffering the consequences because they failed to do good. They are the city of progress with literal bodies in the basement.

The same can actually be said about Caitlyn, too. She is trying so hard to do great, to do everything to succeed she fails to see the consequences and she also fails to do good. And Vi followed her.

Well and Heimerdinger is just... like he just failed to do great and good, but I guess at least he is trying now? lmao, no but seriously I think it's terribly overlooked that he IS in fact trying now. Doesn't erase all the years of neglect and not caring but it's a beginning.

Hazelfur’s Council

Field Colony’s Council operates differently from the other colonies. An average council will usually contain the Elders, the Second, and Enovys. Captain Hazelfur has also elevated Herbalists to this rank. As a spiritual guide and the cat in charge of keeping the Colony healthy, Captain Hazelfur values any opinions a skill healer like Mistysnow has to offer.

The lack of Envoys besides Goldenpelt also raises some concern. Envoys are cats who show leadership qualities: reasonable, thoughtful, brave. And in worse case scenarios, backups in case the Captain and Second can’t perform their duties. To only have one carries some negative implications–but Hazelfur and Forestleaf are extremely selective. Anyone in the position of Envoy in Field Colony has truly earned it in their eyes.

the lanes are build upon loyalty, it's literally the vein that keeps the heart of the place standing, the way the council doesnt see it is insane.

from the very beginning they show that. Vanders first words we hear in the series are literally him showing loyalty and then, when threatened, the lanes showing him loyalty right back. betrayal always comes with loyalty, that doesnt stop it from existing though and thats what the council fails to see, always.

they see betrayal but they dont see the loyalty that has to come before that. they want to sit in their chairs up high and think they are better but they betray each other too. it's shown throughout the entire show. they just have DIFFERENT opportunities to betray and backstab.

marcus even said himself that "there is a crime behind every coin" in the undercity and the irony will for ever be that it was his crime that gave him a bloody coin.

the council is full of those coins they just have the water to wash the blood off.
