movies i've watched recently and quick thoughts on them:
The Flavor of Green Tea Over Rice, Yasujirou Ozu (1952) my second ozu movie. i still struggle matching the slow pacing of movies like this, but i enjoy them nonetheless. it's simple and touching. i loved how cheeky it could get at times, you can't help but find the characters endearing in their everyday flaws. and most of all, i enjoy looking at the picture of society in a certain time and place that's being painted. it feels like observing fish swimming in the river. it's not the flashiest of spectacles, but i think we can all enjoy it.
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (2023) aha! what a fun ride! joy of this month. i wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as i did. nothing bad or emotionally complex to say about this one because i just straight up enjoyed it. among things that delighted me: 1. the paladin, in all his big titties and an even bigger heart glory. what a darling. 2. how his and holga's fighting styles were so distinct -- his clean, heroic strikes and her raw & brutish energy. 3. the sorcerer's self-confidence arc, i love him 4. druid both cute and completely brutal, love that for her and also she is so sapphic right, you guys agree 5. perhaps most of all, how seamlessly so many elements of lore were explained. i'm thinking of the dragon's faulty spark shown first, then his breath catching fire against lava so you know it's actually flammable indeed. i'm not familiar with dnd but i never struggled understanding what was going on at any point, and i think that's really impressive when so much is, indeed, going on.
Jonas, Christophe Charrier (2018) i found this one a little hard to watch, but only because it conveys the roughness of its story so well. it's sad. it's devastating how sad it is. the constant juxtaposition of the lamb-like teen and the scorched adult was like whiplash every time. it kept me on my toes. i couldn't decide if i felt safer in the bright natural light of the teenage strand of time, or in the gritty neons of the adult strand. and then, of course, the mystery of how the transformation came to be is solved, and you know why jonas has grown the way he has, like a tree that survived a thunderstrike. he's destructive, yet his warmth towards his patients made him magnetic. you want to see him get better so badly. it ends rather well, i should say. it ends with a little hope, a little tenderness. i always feel self-conscious judging acting skills, but i think they all did really well there. the one playing the younger brother, i thought, was able to convey a complex node of emotions and reactions, a hostility interwoven with empathy.

Koji Tsuruta and Shin Saburi in The Flavor of Green Tea Over Rice (Yasujiro Ozu, 1952)
Cast: Shin Saburi, Michiyo Kogure, Koji Tsuruta, Keiko Tsushima, Chikage Awashima, Chishu Ryu, Kuniko Miyake, Eijiro Yanagi, Hisao Toake. Screenplay: Kogo Noda, Yasujiro Ozu. Cinematography: Yuharu Atsuta. Art direction: Tatsuo Hamada. Music: Ichiro Saito.
Yasujiro Ozu's The Flavor of Green Tea Over Rice begins like a 1950s American TV sitcom in which Lucy and Ethel try to pull a fast one over Ricky. In this case, Lucy is Taeko Satake (Michiyo Kogure), who wants to get away for a day with Ethel, or Aya Amamiya (Chikage Awashima), at a resort spa without letting Ricky, or Mokichi Satake (Shin Saburi), know what she's up to. So Taeko decides to tell Mokichi that her niece has fallen ill at a class reunion and she needs to go tend to her. But just as she's about to depart, the niece, Setsuko (Keiko Tsushima), drops by the Satake home, so Taeko has to swiftly come up with a Plan B. What we are in for, obviously, is a comedy of marital errors. The Satakes have no children and their marriage has grown stale, which provides an object lesson for Setsuko, whose parents are pressuring her into an arranged marriage and have set up a meeting with the potential groom. Seeing that not only do Taeko and Mokichi have no passion in their lives but Aya is also insouciant about the extramarital affairs of her husband, Toichiro (Hisao Toake), Setsuko is determined not to fall into their trap. Where Ozu excels is in the presentation of the texture of his characters' lives -- Taeko with her gossipy friends, Mokichi with his daily office grind followed by visits to bars and pachinko parlors, sometimes with his young friend Noboru (Koji Tsuruta), whom Mokichi is helping get a start in life after Noboru graduates from college. (There's a wonderful little moment when a slightly inebriated Noboru sings "Gaudeamus Igitur.") At one pachinko parlor, Mokichi discovers that the owner is an old army buddy, Sadao, played by Ozu regular Chishu Ryu, whose chief role in the film is to provide a note of nostalgia for the more adventurous days during the war. Escaping from the meeting with her prospective groom, Setsuko joins Mokichi at the parlor, where she also meets Noboru, and we see a potential relationship spark between the two young people. But when Taeko learns that Mokichi has met with Setsuko when she should have been at the matchmaking session, she's furious and refuses to speak to her husband. Eventually, the crisis is resolved in a lovely scene in which Taeko and Mokichi begin to resolve their marital problems while raiding the larder after the maid has gone to bed, though the film ends with Setsuko and Noboru having what looks like their first fight. Ozu's bittersweet little comedy is sometimes dismissed as a minor work by a master director, but the mastery is very much in evidence.

Today I watched The Flavor Of Green Tea Over Rice (1952), dir. Yasujirō Ozu. A housewife tries to convince her niece to follow through with her parents’ arranged marriage for her, despite being unhappy in her own arranged marriage and resentful of her husband’s character.
Ozu’s films are understated, psychologically deep, and focus on human nature. This is another great film of his, and I recommend watching it. You can watch it on YouTube here

my fav safe (and low cal) foods! <3
so im someone who shoots for 700 cals a day bc i'm a server (lots of walking, lifting, always on my feet) and im also a college student! so in order for me to literally not pass out everywhere i go, i eat in somewhat larger volumes of super low cal foods! i try to focus on protein, carbs, fiber, and low fat. here are the foods i eat almost every day, if not every single day in different combinations:
quaker lightly salted rice cakes: 35 cals per rice cake and good for energy (the flavored ones are also amazing but differ in cals)
starkist light tuna in water (the packets!): 70 cals per packet and like 17g of protein
strawberries: low cal, good for when i have low blood sugar
light n' fit greek yogurt: 80 cals per yogurt, they have the best flavors, i think like 12g of protein? and they're great in smoothies
good culture lowfat cottage cheese: 80 cals per 110g (1/2 cup) and the BEST cottage cheese texture ever
english cucumbers: crispier than a regular cuc and rly low calories for super large amounts
healthy choice soups with BONE BROTH: usually like 190 cals for the whole can and they have more protein than the progresso light soups (which i also like)
barebells chocolate dough protein bars: 200 cals per bar but they hold me over for like 6 hours during work and the chocolate dough literally tastes like a candy bar
bob evans liquid egg whites: 25 cals per 3 tbsp and the bob evans brand has no fat, no carbs, and no cholesterol!
franks red hot original hot sauce: no cals (but lots of sodium) super clean ingredients and i rly do put this sh!t on everything. im a hot sauce wh0re
kraft zesty italian fat free dressing: 15 calories for 2 tbsp and super flavorful! my go-to for dipping veggies and i also put it in my tuna??? no judgement its good
sugar free jello: 5 cals per one jello cup and lowkey i like it better than regular jello its FIRE
pb fit powdered peanut butter: 60 cals per 2 tbsp of this stuff when dry is CRAZY its literally less than half the cals of like JIF reduced fat. doesn't taste as good but add like a tiny bit of honey or concentrated apple juice sweetener and its fire on a rice cake
seasonings are SO important for me bc i like flavor. seasonings usually have very low or no cals so try them out! don't make urself more miserable by eating some bland ass chicken
for drinks, i shoot for water, bigelow green tea with mint, coke zero, zevia, and monster zero sugar (esp the peach flavor!!)
annnnnnddddd i think thats pretty much what i eat! idk who's seeing this but i hope this helps someone who's not sure what to buy @ the grocery store! also if anyone has other low cal foods that they love pls lmk cus im always looking to branch out :)
edit: i also measure all my food in grams using a cheap scale i got at walmart and i log my meals in myfitnesspal... helps me have peace of mind when budgeting cals
edit: ALSO GRILLOS DILL PICKLES SPEARS they're 5 cals per spear (i fkn love these pickles)

What is your normal grocery list? I’m about to be living at a dorm and I am looking for stuff to stock up on, I can’t really keep frozen foods though
i actually dont even cook all that much so i dont keep a lot of frozen foods either. this is my regular list when i go, usually weekly.
FASTING FOODS
okay so youre probably like. raine you arent supposed to eat anything when you fast. hear me out bc this is how i consistently fast a 20-4 schedule everyday, with a lot less binges than before, AND getting all of the benefits of fasting. and yeah, i still binge from time to time, but my binges are far less because my stomach actually cannot handle being fed over 1000 calories anymore, especially not all at once.
these are my ESSENTIALS so theyre pretty much the only things i consistently buy weekly.
cucumbers
chicken broth (0cal kind)
seaweed snacks
pickled ginger
tea (any, but i like trying new flavors ! my favorite is lemon ginger because it helps digestion, and green tea because it speeds up your metabolism. also a lot healthier than diet coke with the same amount of caffeine, also less likely to spike your blood sugar and kick you out of ketosis- which will make your cravings for food much worse)
...dont get me wrong i couldnt live without diet coke. but sometimes ill go for the healthier option.
why i eat these foods while i fast
these are foods that have extremely low cals and carbs (like less than 2 grams per/serving) so they wont kick you out of ketosis (which is the major benefit to fasting, where your body burns fat at a higher rate). when youre in ketosis, your body stops sending you as many cravings, which is why sometimes it feels easier to fast 24 hours after you last ate as opposed to 3 hours.
because i spend the majority of my time fasting, (and i would never be able to do that without these foods) i go through these items pretty quick.
but otherwise i only have to buy other healthy foods on a biweekly or even monthly basis, because i wont eat them as fast ! heres some things i rotate through depending on how sick of them i am lol.
regular food
built bars - essential for me. tons of protein, less sugar than other bars, and relatively low cal.
somebody on here introduced me to these and im soo glad they did. i dont remember who but if youre seeing this ilysm.
tuna creations packets - rly good for on the go, tons of flavors, lots of protein so they're really filling for only being 70-90cals depending on the flavor
blueberries + apples - so hard to over eat these two items, plus fiber
rice cakes - self explanatory
pistachios or sunflower seeds - great for curbing hunger, but im a little sick of them rn
a low cal air popped popcorn - i forget which brand i have rn, but its pretty good and has a lot of fiber.
chobani yogurt + yogurt protein drinks (50cal) - the fact that these r 50cals amaze me for how good they taste. the yogurt drinks are my favorite bc theres actually a shit ton of protein and taste pretty good without actually having to make myself a protein shake. the cookies and cream and peaches and cream are my favorites ive tried. good for breaking a fast with.
thats all i can think of atm ! sry for the fucking essay i hope this was a little helpful at least.
typing this out manically made me realize im a little crazy. i cant say with my whole chest that you should listen to me and my d1sordered thoughts, but i think everyone on here knows that already so... uh
please be kind to yourselves. take ur vitamins (even while fasting) i genuinely love you all every one of you fucked up bitches like me.
goodnight <3

culture of HAIQIN | foods + cuisine
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
date: november 9, 2024
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cuisine
Staple Foods
Staple Foods:
Key staples include grains such as rice and millet, legumes, and a variety of vegetables and fruits. Seafood is particularly prominent in coastal provinces like Valero and Naidya, while the arid northern regions favor hearty dishes that incorporate drought-resistant crops.
The cuisine of Haiqin features a variety of staple foods, including grains like rice and barley, fresh vegetables, and a wide range of fruits. Commonly used spices and herbs add depth to the dishes, which often focus on fresh ingredients.
Common Ingredients:
Grains: Rice, millet, barley, couscous
Vegetables: Root vegetables like sweet potatoes, corn, turnips, and beets; leafy greens; tomatoes; chili peppers, lettuce
Fruits: Tropical fruits such as mango, papaya, and pineapple in coastal areas; apples and berries in cooler regions. tropical citrus, berries, apples, and melons
Proteins: Game meats (roasted, grilled), seafood, meats, legumes, and dairy products (especially in more temperate regions)
Herbs & Spices: Canyon herbs, cactus flower, cinnamon, citrus, cumin, coriander, and chili pepper
Dairy & Fermented Foods: Yogurt, pickled vegetables, and fermented fish are often paired with meals for added texture and taste.
Drought-Resistant Crops: In the northern arid regions, dishes often incorporate crops like quinoa, beans, and hardy grains that thrive in dry climates. Haiqin created drought resistance crops as well, in general, using technology
Regional Dishes
Stellis:
The fusion capital of Haiqin, Stellis is known for its vibrant, cosmopolitan food scene. The cuisine here mixes influences from global trends with traditional Haiqin ingredients. Spicy noodle dishes are a common staple, alongside seafood paella inspired by coastal influences. Street food culture is very prominent, with everything from dumplings to gourmet burgers offering a contemporary twist on local flavors.
Eldariaz:
Renowned for its royal traditions, Eldariaz specializes in rich, spice-laden dishes. Royal Spiced Lamb, a succulent dish flavored with local herbs and exotic spices, is a signature offering. The province also boasts an abundance of tropical fruits, which are often used in vibrant, refreshing salads and desserts. Eldariaz is a place where history and culinary heritage intertwine.
Nirin:
In Nirin, the cuisine is shaped by the challenging desert environment. Nirin Stew, a hearty, spiced meat and vegetable dish, is the region’s standout dish. Cactus salad, made from locally sourced desert plants, is a staple, while floral teas from the city of Waterlight are celebrated for their unique, refreshing qualities. The emphasis on grilled meats and spicy foods is a reflection of the region’s rugged spirit, with southern American-style dishes also being popular, like grilled game meats and cornbread. The food in Nirin mirrors the Southern American style, with grilled meats, spices, and robust flavors. I'm scripting I'm from here...(i can't live without some of the foods in my cr man I CAN'T)
Primos:
Known for its mountainous terrain, Primos offers meals designed for sustenance in the rugged landscape. Roasted game meats and vegetable stews are often prepared over open flames, drawing from the region's strong connection to nature. Hiking trails and outdoor activities are integral to Primos culture, with communal meals often enjoyed in nature during seasonal gatherings, such as mountain festivals.
Mian:
The cuisine of Mian, the capital province, is known for couscous and flatbreads, which are often served with pickled vegetables. The traditional Mian communal dining culture plays a central role in local cuisine, with dishes often shared in large gatherings that foster strong social bonds. Mian’s emphasis on communal eating creates a sense of togetherness, which is further reflected in the region’s culinary approach.
Valero:
The coastal province of Valero has a cuisine centered around seafood, particularly grilled fish and seafood paella, both of which showcase the bountiful offerings of the ocean. Festivals in Valero often feature communal feasts, where families and communities gather to celebrate the sea's abundance. Tropical fruits and citrus-based dishes also add a refreshing touch to the region's cuisine.
Naidya:
Known for its tropical climate, Naidya features cuisine that relies heavily on fresh seafood and tropical fruits. The islands host vibrant food festivals where local seafood dishes and traditional cooking methods are celebrated. Sustainability plays an important role in Naidya’s food practices, with an emphasis on using locally sourced ingredients and maintaining environmentally responsible food practices.
Agrios:
The industrial heartland of Haiqin, Agrios blends traditional food with industrial influences. Smoked meats and grain-based meals are common, reflecting the region's industrial past. Agrios is home to bustling local markets, where artisanal foods are sold, including smoked cheeses, cured meats, and hearty breads. The food here is practical and filling, mirroring the hardworking nature of the people.
Dridells:
In Dridells, food combines urban influences with traditional flavors. The cuisine features river fish and vegetable stews, with an emphasis on combining fresh, natural ingredients. Stews are often slow-cooked, allowing for deep, rich flavors. Dridells has a strong focus on urban sustainability, with eco-friendly food practices and a culture that supports organic farming and local produce.
Luminiaz:
The lush, fertile province of Luminiaz is known for its commitment to sustainability. The region’s cuisine features organic vegetables, local grains, and wild herbs that are hand-picked from the surrounding ecosystem. Luminiaz cuisine celebrates earth tones and nature-inspired dishes, often incorporating wild edible plants and herbs into both savory and sweet dishes. Sustainability is a central theme, and many of the dishes celebrate the biodiversity of the province’s environment.
Food Practices
Communal Eating:
One of the most cherished food traditions in Haiqin is communal eating. Whether during family gatherings, festivals, or celebrations, food is often shared. Large platters of dishes are served, and people sit together to enjoy the meal.
Festivals and Feast Days:
Certain festivals are closely linked to food practices, where traditional dishes are prepared and shared during celebrations. For example, harvest festivals often feature seasonal produce, and coastal feasts celebrate seafood, with people coming together to enjoy the best of what the region has to offer.
Religious and Spiritual Influence:
Although religious fasting is not widespread, certain communities in Haiqin observe dietary practices in honor of deities. Some regions may refrain from consuming specific foods, such as pork, in deference to sacred animals or local beliefs.
Street Food:
Especially in urban areas like Stellis, street food plays an integral role in Haiqin’s food culture, offering affordable and diverse options for the masses. Markets are vibrant and buzzing with vendors selling everything from dumplings to skewers.

Get To Know Me
Rules: Answer and tag 6 people
Favourite colour: To wear? Black. Because it matches everything. I live in black tees and dark wash jeans with black boots or black tennis shoes. In the winter, just add a black coat over the top. But to look at? Hues of light blue mixed with a little green. Think mermaid colors. I dress in dark colors and probably look as perpetually burntout as Trafalgar Law. But if nothing mattered, I’d have everything around me in bright mermaid aesthetic, blues/greens/purple/pink and sparkle. That’s my two sides. 🖤🌈🧜♀️
Last Song: I have one ear bud in at all times with my music library on shuffle or custom stations. And yes, I can relate every song I know to Doflamingo. As I type this it’s “Love Me Dead” by Ludo in my ear. An excerpt:
You suck so passionately
You're a parasitic, psycho, filthy creature
Finger-bangin' my heart
You call me up drunk
Does the fun ever start?
You're hideous…and sexy!
Currently reading: Nothing! *le gasp*. I was an avid reader when I was younger though. It might sound basic as he’s so mainstream, but my favorite author was Stephen King. Horror all day long. I liked his short story compilations the best. But I remember Salem’s Lot actually scaring me when I was a teen, reading it alone in the dark. And Rose Madder sticking with me as well for the dark themes.
The most I read now is short One Piece oneshots that you lovely folks post either here or on AO3.
I’m trying to hold off on reading anything multichapter currently. Because my brain is super weird and strongly internalizes the character voices of whatever I read. So when I read someone else’s stuff, I can lose my own style. The word “style” being used extremely loosely here of course. I just type whatever comes out of my squirrel cage of a brain, I know. But it’s still me. And it would change if I was regularly reading anything else, One Piece or otherwise.
Currently watching: I don’t watch TV (a time constraint thing 😩). I do have Crunchyroll to stay caught up on the One Piece anime though. I rewatch arcs too on there or with the “One Pace” website where it’s a little more condensed. I’m rewatching Punk Hazard now.
Currently craving: Nothing, I ate a hibachi shrimp bowl with rice and veggies for dinner earlier. It was yum!
Coffee or tea: Neither. Seriously, I love water. Ice cold water. It’s all I want when I’m thirsty. And if I need sugar or flavor, then I want food. I drink water if thirsty, eat food if hungry. But if someone handed me a fancy coffee or tea my brain would go, “This is not food…but is just dirty water? No thank you 😅.” *goes sit in timeout for these social transgressions*
I know the larger Doffy crew has already been sharing this back and forth, but linking you guys back to share mine to you. 🦩💗@physics-of-one-piece , @saracrossing02 , @ladycrocy , @tuquidflamingo , @ohnomyhooves + anyone else that wants to interact/share

Title: The Dango Shop
Prompt: You've recently opened up a dango shop and Team 7 is excited to try it.
Pairing: Kakashi x Reader
Rating: E
A/N: This was meant to be angst and it turned into fluff lol Also, I am 3/3 on sitting down to write this week. It's amazing what a week away from the corporate world will do for your brain.
***
Dango.
160g joshinko non-glutinous rice flour
40g shiratamako glutinous rice flour
60g sugar
200ml hot water
1 tsp matcha green tea powder
red food colouring.
***
Spring
“C’mon, Kakashi-sensei,” you heard a shrill voice gripe. The commotion caused you to look up, peering though the steam emitting from the warm stove of your dango shop. When no one arrived through the felt fabric curtain, you returned to patiently kneading the dough until its correct consistency.
“You said you would buy us a treat!” Another voice spoke up from the dirt street beyond the shop. You looked up again, noticing four pairs of shinobi sandals in front of your shop. You smiled at their banter, looking back down at your work as you pushed the dough between the palms of your hand. You added more water to the mixture.
“Fine, fine,” you heard an adult voice concede, a heavy sigh in the wake of his response. “This is what you want?”
“Yes!” Two voices said in unison.
One pair of sandals turned, pulling back the cloth veil that separated the outside world from your little street shop. A bushel of silver hair emerged first, bowing his head as he entered.
Shinobi. You stood up straight, smiling as three children followed closely behind him, nipping at his heels.
"Welcome," you greeted them warmly. You slapped the ball of dough back on the wooden board, placing your hand on your hip.
"Hello," the man said, looking up at you for the first time. Your eyes met his single dark gaze and you felt your back flush, spreading to the backs of your ears like wildfire.
Kakashi of the Sharingan.
Your eyes remained locked for a beat, the commotion of the children seating themselves a distant noise between the two of you. You had heard of him, of course. Even civilians in the village had heard of such a legendary shinobi. But you had never seen him in person, let alone this close.
He was much taller - and more handsome despite three quarters of his face being covered - than the rumors had said.
Finally you blinked, looking away and greeting the children.
"We heard your shop is the best Dango shop in the village! Better than old man Chiri's down the street!" the yellow haired child said, his enthusiasm contagious. The pink haired girl grinned, following the lead of her sensei to sit at the counter.
You flushed, scratching the back of your head as you grinned.
"Thank you - but I'm sure that isn't entirely true. All dango is delicious. I'm glad to have you all here though!" You looked between the group, assessing them all. "So - what'll it be?"
"Matcha flavored!" the yellow haired one exclaimed, practically crawling onto the counter. He picked up a pair of chopsticks, eager to touch anything in his site.
"Red Bean Paste, please," the pink haired girl replied calmly, her cheeks rosy from the heat of the day.
"Kibi Dango," a brooding voice from the end replied, his shoulders hunched over the countertop. You wrote their orders down, lifting your head to Kakashi, your pen poised for his order.
"And you?"
"I am good, thank you," He waved a kind, dismissive hand. "Not much of a sweets man."
"No worries," you smiled to him. He smiled in return. You began preparing the ingredients, plopping them neatly on a plate and distributing them to each customer.
"Wow!" the yellow haired boy exclaimed, "this is even better looking then Old Man Chiri's too!"
"I'm sure his is just an older recipe," you reminded him, returning to your dough kneading. "Everyone makes dango differently. Just because his may not look good doesn't mean it won't taste good!"
"She's right, Naruto. Respect your elders," the sensei corrected him.
"I'm just speaking the truth!"
"You don't have to say everything that comes to your mind out loud," Kakashi reminded him, peering over at him irritably.
"Delicious," the pink haired girl hummed, her mouth filled with the dessert.
"Thank you," You smiled happily, your lips pressed together.
"Whicha makin' back there, anyway?" The one named Naruto asked, his mouth filled with dessert. A piece of dango fell from his lips.
"Close your mouth when you eat, idiot," the dark haired boy leaned over the counter, irritated. Naruto flushed, his eyebrows knitting together as he swallowed the dessert whole.
"More dango," you told them, lifting the ball of dough.
"Obviously," the dark haired one said again.
Naruto growled, kneeling on his stool and gritting his teeth as he stared at the other boy.
"No fighting you two!" Kakashi huffed, pulling Naruto's jacket back into his chair.
"Why does Sasuke have to be so rude all the time?"
"He's not being rude, you're being rude!" the pink haired girl defended.
"Keep out of this, Sakura!"
The sensei sighed heavily, placing his chin in his palm and looking up at you - begging for sympathy.
"See what I have to deal with?" He said, his eyebrows lifted.
"I'm sure it's not all that bad," you replied fondly, cutting off the piece of dough with your hands and rolling it into a ball.
"If my hair wasn't already grey, it would be grey by now with these three," he continued to watch you, a self deprecating chuckle coming from behind his mask. You laughed as well.
"The grey suits you as a sensei," you teased, glancing up, "very distinguished."
"Distinguished?" Naruto scoffed, already standing up to exit the shop.
"Ha!" the pink haired girl followed, Sasuke close in her wake.
"No respect," the silver haired shinobi shook his head, shoving his hand in his pocket. He sectioned out his change in his palm and placed it on the counter. You noticed the hefty tip.
"Thank you," you smiled, rolling another dough ball. "And good luck!"
He laughed, looking up and catching your eye again, "thanks. I'm going to need it."

One Week Later
Sweaty and tired, the three children and their sensei walked through your shop door, shuffling their feet as they sat down at the counter.
"Oh," you smiled happily, pleasantly surprised. "Back again?"
"They haven't stopped talking about your dango since we left the last time," their master responded, amused as his students shoulders slumped from a hard days work.
"Boy, you wore them out today, huh?" you noted, watching the trio staring into space.
"They'll get used to it," Kakashi said, ruffling Naruto's blond hair. The boy swatted him away.
You watched as he pulled a familiar book out of his back pocket, slipping his thumb through an indented page. You started rolling another row of dango balls.
“Icha-Icha fan?” You asked, pushing your hair from your eyes with the back of your coated hand. Flour dusted your face and your hair stuck to your forehead like glue. One onyx eye raised to meet yours, wide with curiosity and surprise.
“I am,” he closed his book, amused as he leaned over the counter. “You're familiar?"
“I’ve got the whole series in hardcover and paperback,” you replied pridefully. You never had anyone to talk about books with and you were pleased to have a fellow literature lover in the shop. He adjusted himself to face you.
“I also have the author's commentary of Volume I as well."
“Commentary, huh?” You could tell he was barely containing his astonishment. His eye glistened.
“It’s quite good. It really ties together some of the underlying themes of the series. The drama and romance is unparalleled to anything I've read before. I could let you borrow it, if you’d like.”
The young girl beside him looked over at Sasuke, her green eyes wide as she stifled a giggle. The boy ignored her, placing his cheek in on the base of his palm and huffing as he turned away. The sensei ignored them both, his eyes fixed on you, his jaw taunt.
“That would be wonderful,” he finally responded with a grin. Your heart sped up, your pulse quickening under your perspiring skin. It suddenly felt hotter than usual in the room, despite the cooler spring temperatures just outside the threshold of your shop.
You hadn’t realized you had stopped rolling the dough balls, the one ball that was in your hand melting under the heat radiating from your palm. You felt yourself flush under his gaze. You looked back down at your work, severing the connection.
“What was your name, by the way?” The sensei asked, trying desperately to compose himself as Naruto lifted his head, observing the now obvious tense interaction between the two of you.
"Can I just have some food, please?" the boy complained loudly.
You looked up, sweating profusely from the short interaction. You glanced over at the sensei, unsure if your mind was exaggerating the interaction in your head. He straightened his back, rolling his shoulders as he cleared his throat uncomfortably.
"[y/n]," You answered, your eyes connecting again with his, "And I'll have that food coming right up, kids."
***
The trio continued to come in each week with their sensei. Every Monday well into the summer months, they would arrive disheveled and defeated, their faces covered with sweat and grime. Their master always sat in the middle, each week growing more and more attentive, it seemed.
"The same, please," he would order for them, their foreheads all placed tiredly on the counter.
Carefully, you arranged the dango on plates and passed them to each of them. One by one, they lifted their heads from between their arms and began eating.
You watched as Kakashi began to lift Volume II from his back pocket, perching it between his fingers as the trio began to eat next to him quietly. Before he could crack it open, you placed a plate in front of him.
"What's this?" He asked, a confused smile behind his mask.
"A new recipe," you replied, "It's made with a soy glaze. It's more savory then sweet. You said you didn't like sweet. I mean - I have been working on it for awhile. I didn't just make it fo- ... Maybe you could be my tester before I put it on the menu?"
He looked up at you, barely hiding a pleased smile as you stopped the string of words coming uncontrollably from behind your lips.
“Thank you,” he nodded, looking down at his plate. He placed his book back in his pocket. “This looks tasty."
"I hope you like it," you offered, feeling a familiar blush creep up your cheeks. "It's on the house."
"I'm sure I will," he winked.
***
The last week of summer was quickly approaching. The heat bearing down on Konoha more than it ever had before. Your dango shop felt like a sweat shop rather than a sweets shop.
"Ohhh, [y/n]!" You heard Naruto call out from beyond the curtain of your shop. "Where's my dangoooo?"
"Right hereeee," you called back to him.
Your relationship with the group had grown since the spring. You saw them every week, sometimes twice a week if you were lucky. You learned Sakura's favorite food was syrup covered dumplings, and Sasuke, who didn't speak much, loved rice balls. You experimented with the trio, always asking for their feedback on new desserts and treats. They always loved them. Especially Naruto.
"Oh!" you had exclaimed one afternoon, your eyes landing on Kakashi. "I have something for you."
"Oh, another treat?" he asked expectantly, his eyebrow lifted as he uncrossed his legs and faced you.
"I guess you could say that," you patted your dusty hands on your apron, retreating to the back.
"Man, Kakashi-sensei always gets the good stuff!" Naruto whined.
"You just had free dango last week," you heard Sasuke remind him.
"Yeah, but-"
You returned from the back, a beaten up book in your hand. With a smile, you passed it over the counter to Kakashi. He looked down at it, his eyes suddenly bright.
"The Icha-Icha authors commentary," you explained, returning to your dough rolling. "We spoke about it the first time we-"
"Yes, I remember," He looked back up at you, his crows-feet prominent as he smiled. He began inspecting it. "Jeez, It's almost as beaten up as my novels are. The spine is coming apart from the pages."
"Oh, hush," you waved a hand, "I better get that back when you're done! I don't want to have to hunt you down for it, Hatake," you pointed a knowing finger at him.
Kakashi laughed, ignoring Naruto as he peered over at the contents of the book. The young boys cheeks flushed as his eyes skimmed the page.
"You will," he chuckled, "don't worry."
You glanced back up at him, a soft affectionate gaze catching your eye. You averted your eyes.
***
The crisp chill of fall nipped at your cheeks as you finished closing up the shop. You tightened the scarf around your neck, pulling down the curtain in front of the storefront.
It has been a long day, your knees aching from standing for well over twelve hours. You sighed heavily, bending your spine in an effort to relieve the tension.
"Hey," you heard behind you. Turning around, Kakashi stood nearby, a smile behind his mask as he greeted you with a wave.
"Oh, hello," you smiled, brushing the hair that swept in front of your eyes from the wind. "It's not Monday."
He laughed, his eyes looking at you fondly, "I know."
"Come from some soy glazed dango?" you asked, chuckling.
"No. Not quite," he smiled, kicking a rock with the tip of his sandal.
"How about returning my book?" You needled him fondly. You relished in how easy it had become to banter with him.
"Actually," He paused, pulling your book from his back pocket, "Yes."
You smiled, taking it out of his hand. You noticed the spine was reconnected to its pages. The front cover had been cleaned off.
"I glued it with fabric glue the best I could," He offered modestly. You looked up with the book in your hands and smiled.
"Thank you," you replied, "You didn't have to do that."
He shrugged coyly, "I wanted to."
Slipping the book under your arm, you turned and stood on your toes to reach the "open" sign of your shop. Above you, you saw an arm reach over your head, flipping it to "closed" for you.
You turned back around, looking up at him. You laughed, flustered. "Thank you. I've been meaning to move that sign down so I can reach it better."
"Maybe you just need to get taller," he quipped. You snorted, pushing his shoulder.
"Where are your students?" you asked, changing the subject, "Did you exhaust them again today?"
"Hmm," he replied after a moment, "No. I went fairly easy on them today."
"Are you sure about that?" you teased, looking back over at him. "Last time you said you 'went easy on them' Sakura nearly fainted. Some sensei you are."
"I'm quite sure they are fine," he laughed lightly. "But thank you for the vote of confidence."
"Anytime," you replied cheekily.
A few people walked passed your shop and you smiled at them. A few moments passed where no one said anything, the awkward silence between you both growing deafening.
"Well, is there anything I can help you with?" You asked finally, adjusting your bun uncomfortably.
"Uh," he began hesitantly, "Yes, actually."
He looked down at you, cautiously. "I was wondering if you wanted to go for a walk. Together. Just the two of us."
Your felt your breath leave your lungs, feeling a cold shock to your body as your eyes meeting his. You blinked in astonishment. He smiled reassuringly.
"I -" you began, your brain suddenly blank.
"You don't have to if you don't want to," his quickly responded, his cheeks blushing in unison with yours.
"No!" you told him quickly, your hands lifted in embarrassment. "I mean yes! I mean, of course!"
You both stared at each other, rouge painted across both of your cheeks. Finally he smiled, his eye rounded as his cheekbone lifted.
"Well then - after you," he gestured forward. You stifled a smile.
You began walking. Fall foliage skidded across the cobble stone street as you bit your lip. You saw him glance at you out of the corner of your eye. His shoulder grazed yours.
"So," he began earnestly, "Tell me about yourself..."

(app: see how you eat)
had to get back on track today (& make up for yesterday- went over 1200 😞) I was sure that I was gonna gain from that, but I didn't, thankfully. I'm proud of myself for being so disciplined today! got through work on just a protein bar, energy drink and coffee, and by the time i made dinner i was a little shaky and dizzy- proof i burned enough c4ls to deserve a meal :)
black coffee & special K protein bar- I didn't put enough coffee grounds in so it was too watery, but I can try again tomorrow
celsius mango passionfruit- new flavor for me, it was pretty good but i only drank half because it was getting late in the day
rice, boiled egg (removed the yolk), baby bok choy, with my homemade veggie sauce and green tea w mint leaves- this was so delicious!! bok choy is one of my favorite veggies and definitely a nice s4fe food, only about 12 c4ls in each head! def recommend if ur a fan of spinach and cauliflower.
chocolate hommus- reaaaally had to use restraint and not have too much, only had about 2/3 tbsp but it would be so easy to eat the whole container... it's best as a treat tho <3

Thinking about eating just thoroughly unappetizing food as a turn on. Like yes, of course eating it on all fours from a bowl on the ground without hands (because is there really any better way?).
But also like, it's plain oatmeal and runny scrambled eggs that's now cold and an odd mix of textures. It's boiled chicken and spinach that's been over cooked so the water has more flavor. It's double strength straight green tea that was over steeped and extra bitter. It's rice cooked so long and with so much liquid it disintegrates at the slightest touch doused in way too much soy. It's a smoothie made by crushing blueberries and bananas with the sole of a freshly muddied boot. It's an unidentifiable grey mass that just got dumped into the bowl with a splat.
And of course the answer to making it taste like something is easy - just beg the nearest man for his preferred bodily fluid to add to the bowl and make sure he gets a proper thank you.
