I just came across this photo of the goth wedding cake that I made for my son and his bride. It made me happy to see it so I thought that I'd post it. They wanted a red cake with black accents. I added the blackberries and the crows and bats because I liked the way that they looked. The creepy hands coming out between the layers are bookmarks that I found online. I used isomalt to make the crystal like formations. I was having a great time making this cake, but it needed a little something else. That's when I added the feathers. The inside of this cake was tie dyed red, purple, and black, with red frosting and raspberries in between the layers. Everything was edible except the feathers and the creepy hands. It was delicious 😋 I was very happy with the way the cake came together. I had never made such an important cake before. It was fun to make. The happy couple loved the cake!! So did I!!! ❤️❤️👰🤵‍♂️❤️❤️

Now that the Ghost Marriage event is back, I remembered this what if that I joked about with @marrondrawsalot ages ago, of Crowley deciding this is his time to actually help and try do something. So when the first and second batch of suitors fail he goes, "Well. It's time for me to turn on the charm I suppose."
Yuu: That sounds like bullshit, but please do it anyway.
Crowley: Hey, I'll have you know that women find me very charming.
Riddle: This will either work or end poorly.
So Crowley attempts to woe the ghost bride, fails, he manages to escape before he gets slapped. So he gets chased out by the ghost guards.
Crowley: You weren't my type anyway!
Yuu: Where's all that game you were talking about?
Crowley; Laugh it up while you can.
Yuu: I intend to.

i really enjoyed your latest six of crows fic!! this is probably going to sound so strange, but kaz's brief cameo was so on point that it made me wish for a concurrent fic of the other crows and what they're up to in this au
hi hello!! thank you so much 🥰 and that isn't strange at all! i'm really glad that you liked it down to all the little cameos 💙 i can't promise a concurrent fic but here's a little scene i deleted that has kaz in it (this is when wylan actually first meets kaz, a little bit after jesper reads their marriage contract for them)
"Why the change of mind?" Kaz didn't bother addressing Wylan. "All your letters until a month ago told me you despised your husband."
Jesper swallowed, and cast a guilty glance at Wylan, his fingers drumming nervously on the windowsil they were perched on. "I, uh," he shrugged, smile turning suddenly coy to smother his guilt, "was reminded of some things."
Kaz didn't look remotely impressed. He simply stood in the palace guest rooms they'd prepared for him and Inej, looking both distinctly out of place and perfectly suited to the gilded halls and carpeted floors. "I need to know I can trust your reasons, or I'll be taking my kruge on my walk to the palace vaults."
The only reason he doesn't steal from me, Jesper had told Wylan, is because good standing with the royal family is a better long term investment than a crown jewel.
"I blew someone up for him," Wylan answered before Jesper could, and that made Kaz turn to him, a hunter catching a sniff of prey.
"After I shot a guy for him," Jesper grumbled.
Kaz ran a gloved hand over the corner of a framed oil painting. De Kappel, the matching painting given to Wylan's father as part of his dowry. Stealing Wylan's flute from the mansion had turned out to be proof of concept: that it could be done.
"You didn't tell me your husband had marketable skills," Kaz said.
"I'm not for sale," Wylan frowned.
Jesper snorted at Kaz. "And if he was, you wouldn't be able to pay for him."
"Is that a challenge?" Kaz asked.
"Wylan's a sure bet," Jesper said, "Besides, it was a change of heart too."
What? Wylan didn't catch Kaz's little scowl, or what he muttered next, too busy running his mind over possibilities, turning Jesper's words around in his head. A change of heart -
"I've decided my terms of payment," the snap of Kaz's cane as he walked closer was muffled by the carpet, but it was sharp all the same. "I'd like Wylan as my consultant."
Jesper scrunched his nose. "No."
"Yes," Wylan said. He knew what Kaz had planned was likely illegal. He also knew that Jan Van Eck's accounting books never added up. "I can tell you everything you need."
"Let me rephrase," Kaz said. "I want you as a permanent consultant."
"He's a Prince!" Jesper protested.
Kaz raised a brow. "So are you. It's called career diversification."
Jesper groaned when Wylan laughed. "Wylan's already diversified into a royal mess."
Wylan sniffed. "I melted a table once, and I cleaned up the mess."
He declined to supply that he'd spilled the chemicals because he'd been a little distracted, by Jesper's little laugh, and the spin of the gun that followed.
"Melting tables," Kaz didn't allow himself to be sidetracked, his eyes taking an edge of wildness to them, a stormcloud flashing lightning. "What about melting locks and safes?"
Wylan nodded. "I just need to change the formula a little."
"See?" Kaz smirked. "Marketable skills."
Jesper groaned again, and Wylan wondered what he'd gotten himself into. Marriage, his mind supplied, and then friendship and family, and, as he thought of Kaz burning Van Eck's power to the ground, he thought, just maybe, home.

Felt like designing Benedict and Juste's parents (the dad being Simon's son), Alexandre and Céleste... I am still thinking about their personnalities.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was going to give Alexandre a scar. Then I had the idea of Céleste having scars instead after a monster attack. And then I also got the idea of Alexandre, feeling guilty and ashamed for failing to protect her... giving himself a scar with a knife to atone, and support her, ready to give himself four as well, but she stopped him after just one. And then they hugged, probably. ❤️ Hope you like this little idea of mine, hehe

The Rabbit's Bride
"Come, maiden," said the rabbit, "sit on my tail and go with me to my rabbit-hutch."
And then the girl seated herself on the rabbit's tail, and the rabbit took her to his hutch.

On July 28, 1916, the chief of police in Louisville, Kentucky, announced the arrest of at least three people for interracial relations, or miscegenation. He also announced plans to open an investigation into the practice, which would “spare no effort” to prevent people from forming or maintaining interracial romantic relationships in Louisville.
Earlier that day, Louisville police made at least three arrests involving allegations of interracial romance. Authorities first arrested Harry Jenkins, a 34-year-old Black man, and Alice Shumaker, a 30-year-old woman who self-identified as Black but whom police believed to be white. Louisville law enforcement jailed both Mr. Jenkins and Ms. Shumaker on disorderly conduct charges, though they stood accused of little more than being found under the same roof together at the same time. Unwilling to accept Ms. Shumaker’s own racial self-identification, the local jailor forced her to submit to a blood test “to determine whether or not” she was Black.
The same white Louisville officers who arrested Mr. Jenkins and Ms. Shumaker also detained George Eaton, a 16-year-old Black boy. After subjecting George to a search, the officers found photographs of three teenaged white girls in his pocket. George claimed that the white girls had given him these photographs and refused to identify them. The officers arrested George, while the chief of police directed other high-ranking officials in his department to “make a round of photo galleries” in the city of Louisville to uncover the white girls’ identities.
Kentucky criminalized interracial marriages from the year it was admitted into the Union in 1792. At the time that Mr. Jenkins, Ms. Shumaker, and George were arrested, state law made it illegal for a Black person—defined by the Kentucky Supreme Court as a person with “one–fourth part or more of Negro blood”—to marry or live with a white person. Those found in violation of the law faced a fine of up to $5,000 and up to a year in jail. Black people charged with miscegenation faced dehumanizing treatment by law enforcement, and investigations and court proceedings were often humiliating and intrusive. Despite the fact that the Supreme Court invalidated all laws criminalizing interracial marriage in 1967, Kentucky did not repeal its anti-miscegenation statute until 1974.
During the Jim Crow era, one of the racial boundaries white people protected most fiercely was the prohibition on romantic contact between Black men and white women. Fear of intimate contact between Black men and white women was fueled by the pervasive myth that Black men were violent, sexually aggressive, and always in pursuit of white womanhood. In Kentucky and other states, these fears led to the aggressive enforcement of anti-miscegenation laws, the degradation of interracial couples, and the destruction of multiracial families. To learn more about anti-miscegenation laws and other policies enacted to maintain white supremacy, read EJI’s report, Segregation in America.

my hand was the one you reached for (all throughout the Great War), ch.11 ✨
Fandom: Six of Crows / Shadow and Bone (TV)
Pairing: Nina/Matthias
Tags: alternate universe: modern royalty; arranged marriage; enemies to lovers
Status: in progress???
Summary: Nina decides to enjoy her last night of freedom before her trip to Fjerda to meet her betrothed. What happens in Ketterdam stays in Ketterdam, right?
Extract:
“Oh, Nina, I can’t believe you’re back!” Jesper engulfs her into a hug, sweeping her off her feet – or at least, attempting to, before they both stumble back into the wall, Nina’s back taking the full brunt of it while Jesper guffaws, face pressed into her neck. He’s hugging her so tightly Nina reckons he might break a rib or puncture a lung, but who cares? Jesper’s hugs have this kind of magic about them, stronger than any other kind. “Only for a month,” Nina tries to remind him, but Jesper doesn’t seem to care. One minute, one hour, one day: Jesper always lives to the fullest. Nina’s never met someone quite like him, and although his fiery personality sometimes does him a disservice, Nina loves him just the way he is, always going at full speed and embracing everything with both arms wide open. She and Jesper, they’re made of the same stuff: risking everything even for the smallest inkling of a hope that something great and amazing and unforgettable could happen. They’ve both crashed and burned hard before, but neither of them can seem to settle for the comfort of routines and predictability. And perhaps it’s exactly for this reason that they were ready to face the adventure of a lifetime when it knocked on their door. Jesper has Wylan now, and he’s happier than Nina’s ever seen him, and she has Matthias, so… So far, so good. “Give her a break,” Inej lets out with a chuckle, before she’s tugging at Nina’s arms, helping her out of Jesper’s bear hug and right into her own arms. “Saints, I’ve missed you.” “I’ve missed you too,” Nina says, feeling her eyes welling up suddenly. Saints, she has. “Saints, I’ve even missed Kaz. Where is he? That little cockroach couldn’t even be bothered with joining the welcoming committee?” Inej pinches her hip, eliciting a squeal from her, but Jesper only laughs. “You know him, he’s got an empire to run and money to make,” Jesper explains as he reaches for her suitcase, wheeling it behind him as he leads the group away. “He sends all his love and most sincere affection. Actual quote.”

Fic #2 in the Marriage Material series is finished! You can find both fics on my ao3 and linked below! This concludes the main arc of the series, but I'm planning a few oneshots from other POVs and expanding the world.
Silver Shackles rated M, 39k words
In Ketterdam, marriages are just another contract, albeit a bit more permanent. They were a good way to make alliances, even between people who wouldn’t ordinarily be seen together. Which is how Wylan Van Eck ends up being married off to Jesper Fahey, in order to solidify the connections between Kaz Brekker’s Dregs and Jan Van Eck’s mercher empire. The only problem? Wylan had no say in any of this, and he enters this marriage contract expecting the worst. But Jesper isn’t as ruthless as his father warned, and even Dirtyhands might have emotions. Or, Wesper arranged marriage AU with bad parent Jan Van Eck
Paper Rings rated M, 26k words
Three months ago, Wylan married Jesper Fahey, a man he had never met before and who he was certain was going to kill him. Instead, marrying Jesper had turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to him. Wylan is happy living with Jesper, honestly. But part of him doesn’t want to just stay home, playing housewife and building bombs for Kaz Brekker and his gang forever. So when Kaz offers him the chance to take down his father, who treated him like shit and sold him into marriage, how could he say no? Kaz always has a plan and Wylan has an appetite for revenge. He just hopes it won’t all blow up in his face. Or; the sequel to Silver Shackles, wherein Wylan and Kaz (but mostly Kaz) conspire to take down Van Eck, and it all goes sideways very quickly.
