Why Your TV Has Sound But No Picture
Tumblr media
Will your TV only play audio and not video? Is the screen on your television black? Use these fixes to resume streaming. Or call a TV servicing expert for more.
Your TV is no longer a TV; it is instead a sound system. The visual component of television has been gone. However, there is no visual information available. It's dark. Your television isn't for listening, is it? Fear not, and implement the fixes listed below.
Incorrect Settings
You may customise a wide range of settings on your TV. Some of these will have an impact on your TV's connections and influence if you will see anything. Starting with the almost insultingly apparent checks never hurts, so let's proceed.
Gentle Reset
The simplest place to begin.
● For 60 seconds, unplug your TV. Don't simply switch it off.
● After unplugging it, press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
● On those 60 seconds, count slowly or use a watch.
● Reconnect the cable to your TV and look for a picture. If it functions, you're done.
● Move on to the following step if not.
● Brightness Verify your device's brightness setting. A setting may occasionally become bugged.
Check the Inputs and Cables for HDMI
When there are issues with the HDMI Inputs, the visual signal may be interrupted but the audio will continue to work. The input sockets and the cables are the two primary points of failure.
First, disconnect and re-plug each HDMI wire from the TV and from the other connected device at both ends. Do this for each connected device to your TV.
Replace the cable from a specific source with a known-good cable. See if that is any assistance. Each source you have should be treated in turn. If this exchange resolves the issue, purchase and install a new cable.
Check the location of the source's plug-in on the TV and the source's settings. It is quite improbable that there is a mismatch between input and setting because you are currently receiving sound. In that case, move on to the next item.
It is advisable to use approved cables because non-certified HDMI cables might occasionally result in issues in this way.
Software Problems
Your TV can operate erratically if the software update feature is not enabled. A manual update is an additional action you can take to rule out a potential cause. You are not the one who can fix all you want, either. It is a good option to search for a nearby TV repair specialist.
Use a hard wired source or a flash drive inserted into a TV's USB port instead of WiFi-based updates due to their sporadic unreliability.
Factory Reset
The final step is a factory reset if the upgrade had no impact or wouldn't operate. Make a note of the numerous configurations you have changed before doing this because the reset will remove all of them.
If this fixes the no picture issue, your TV will have all factory default settings, therefore it will take some work to return to the previous configuration. Follow the reset instructions that come with your TV to complete it.
Hardware Problems
After checking the connections, connected devices, and software settings, let's examine the TV's functionality.
Check Cables
Sometimes the issue can be resolved by just detaching and rejoining each cable, even before you test the individual boards. The ribbon wires that connect the Main Board to a small board known as the T-Con board are crucial in this step.
● Make sure the TV is unplugged first.
● One by one, unplug and replug each cable.
● Before reinstalling the ribbon cables, you might even wish to use a pencil eraser to clean the contacts.
Be gentle and take your time. The majority of the wires will fit nicely in just one location, but it doesn't hurt to make a tiny mark next to each one as you finish the disconnect-reconnect process.
Plug the TV back in after you've finished this to check whether an image has appeared. If so, move on to the next step; otherwise, stop.
Defective LCD panel
Your LCD panel could have failed, especially if the test for bad back lights produced an empty screen. Single horizontal or vertical lines in the image on the screen are a typical indicator of panel breakdown. Another indication of panel breakdown is distorted pictures that only appear in one location on the screen.
Physical abuse is a major factor in many panel failures. Furthermore, the panels' design, which includes chips embedded in flexible plastic or affixed to glass, leaves them susceptible to irreparable failures in the peripheral devices.
If a panel is damaged, the cost and labour of repair suffer since replacing the panel is a labour-intensive and expensive process. If replacing the panel isn't feasible financially, you can attempt selling the TV's other internal parts.
Last but not least, take precautions while doing the task. Save your time and money by looking for Television repair near me.

I think now is a good time to remind people of The Internet Archive which has a metric shit ton of shows and movies for free and won't give your computer any viruses cause it's not a pirate website.
Or Tubi, which has a metric shit ton of stuff free with ads, and you don't even have to make an account or download the app. Same with Pluto, although Pluto is pretty slow.
Even YouTube has a lot of free stuff, and I don't just mean the official YouTube movie channel. I mean, there's a bunch of channels that upload movies you can watch without having to click a link to some shady website. YouTube also has a lot of audio book uploads too.
So don't worry about not getting brand new shows because there's so much media out there's that you haven't even consumed yet.

there's just... there is no reason to make yet another cop show in this day and age. copaganda is not only bullshit, it is a failure of imagination.
you want to watch brooding characters with dark pasts investigate crimes in an official capacity? just use private detectives (cops have a miserable solve rate anyway). want eccentric geniuses & their sidekicks solving mysteries? i present you with armchair detectives & neighborhood busybodies. oh, you're craving a workplace comedy-drama starring overworked protagonists doing their heartfelt best to resolve community conflicts? social worker office sitcom! bitch this is ACHIEVABLE

Peregrin Took + A Man in Armor by Rembrandt
"We have no songs for great halls... and evil times."
This is part of a series of illustrations I've done which is reimagining old oil paintings ("renaissance paintings", though not all of them are from the time of the renaissance so I will use that term sparingly haha)
Rembrandt depicted the young man in the original painting as weighed down by his armor and weapons (as they do appear sightly too big for him)-- and yet having determined thoughts about the possible battle ahead. I thought this extra fitting to portray this as a hobbit, and since I already did one with Merry, I chose Pippin!

i’m actually grateful for apple tv+ who seems to be able to believe in their tv shows despite ‘low’ ratings.
based on wikipedia, they have 76 ongoing shows (drama + comedy):
- 27 of them were ended but 13 of them had at least 2 seasons which brings us to a 18% cancellation rate after their first season
- 18 of them (23%) were miniseries so their end is justified
- 21 of them are renewed but if if you add the 13 series that had at least 2 seasons, this brings us to a total of 35 shows that were renewed which is a 46% ratio renewal rate
apple tv+ renews half of their shows and i think we should be thankful for them in a time where netflix and amazon cancels 90% of their shows

Guys, buy physical media it’s dying. They are taking it from us.
My local Meijer (a regional variant of Walmart) has stopped selling physical media. Like outright. It’s now gift cards for streaming services, and online shit. They are phasing out physical video games too. They are phasing out laptops, DVDs players, blueray players.
I know, I know, streaming services are so easy and convenient. But like, you don’t own it. You are at the mercy of the services. Once they kill physical media completely they can hike up the prices as steep as they like, $30, $40, $50 and more a month. Because it will be the ONLY way (short of pirating) that you can watch shows and movies. They will make it cable and satellite premium levels of expensive. And you won’t be able to stop them. They’ll hold your favorite shows hostage behind paywalls and micro transactions. They’ll vault up shows and movies and make them unavailable for long periods of time. You’ll have to have 7 different streaming services all costing $40 bucks a pop to watch the things you want.
You’ll have access to NOTHING without paying a premium. And remember, you already pay money to have an internet connection. Are streaming services really as affordable as you think? Internet price + the price of each service? That adds up. And they keep raising the price, and will keep raising the prices, because they know you’ll keep paying.
Having physical media means you get to watch your favorite shows and movies anytime. With or without internet connection. Broke as fuck? You can still watch it, because it’s yours. Did they lock up your favorite show or movie to make it more exclusive? You can still watch it with physical media because you own it. Want to let your friend borrow it? You can lend it to them, or burn them a copy. No need to fret about stupid services cracking down on password sharing. Want to watch the movie or show with online friends? You can stream DVDs over Discord so friends can watch with you.
(Am currently streaming Teen Titans the original animated series with my best friend over Discord. It’s mine, so neither of us pay anything to watch it together.)
Companies are writing off physical media as unprofitable. They are culling it. Taking it out of stores, making it less accessible.
People around me talk about all these movies and tv series they’d love to watch, but have to buy another streaming service to access it. And I offer to let them borrow the DVDs or Blueray, and they straight up tell me they don’t own DVDs or dvd players. Why?! WHY!? They subscribe to 4 or 5 different service instead forking out $50+ a month. But they put themselves at the mercy of these services, at the mercy of internet connectivity and access. They can’t even borrow a movie or show from me, because they are so dependent on internet and streaming.
Did you know there are literally ways to save your movies digitally and take them on the go? Streaming should be a neat little thing that’s convenient, it has its perks and uses, but it should NOT the only way to watch media.
Save physical media.
Buy a dvd player.
Buy movies.
Buy shows.
Own your media.
Stop renting it. Streaming is just glorified rental.
Stop renting it.
Because soon that’s all you’ll ever be able to do.
