Your oppressors want you dead, and that is why you need to live, if you can- live and be free. Get that botched haircut, get those piercings, give a listen to that song, give that snack a try- live while you can, because damn it, you only have one life to live, and you are not gonna live it in pain and fear. If you can't live for yourself, find someone or something to live for- a friend, a family member, an acquaintance, a pet, a lover, someone you wish was your lover, hell, an enemy if you need to. Maybe find a song to live for, a plush, a goal, a wish, a feeling. I don't care what your reason to live is, I don't care how big or small it is, I just need it to keep you alive. And if you can’t live, despite everything, the least I can ask is for you to not die for nothing.

I know you’re terrified. Terrified of the wicked people in control, terrified of your lives getting into a twist. Terrified of the torture the following years will determine. I’m scared, too, but I need you to know something- you can’t become a part of a statistic. If you’re gonna go out, don’t go out like a flickering bulb- go out like Icarus, when he collided with the sun. Go out like the Phoenix, and rise from the ashes your oppressors created. Fight with everything you can, be it through words and speeches, through marches and protests, or through the guns conservatives swear by. If you're going down, take America’s cruelty with you. I know, I know all seems hopeless, that a heartless man as your president seems inescapable- but so did the divine right of kings, once upon a time. We've seen things like this a million times, even if it doesn’t look like it- when there's progress, there's pushback. People will fight with their blood, sweat, and tears, only to get cut short by those who were supposed to represent them. Well, guess what? The cut will scab over, and the battle will rage on, and the fire won’t stop burning until we get the lives we deserve. We declare that we have the right to live, and we will fight for it.

Feel what you need to, but frankly, I refuse dystopia, I refuse hate, I refuse control- and I especially refuse death. I have disobeyed worse than you- my friends do not die on my watch. They want America to be ‘great’ again? yeah, i am WELL aware this is very idealistic, especially for the times we're gonna be living in. all seems hopeless, i completely understand that. BUT we need to have some sort of vision for our fight to live, or we're just gonna die- if not die, then live MISERABLY.

The entire chapter was fire writing throughout but this final moment was a fucking gut punch because HE’S STILL FUCKING MOURNING!

Reading through the later chapters, part of me hoped that Uzuki would be able to redeem himself but at this point, he’s too far gone and the only thing that’s gonna stop him is death which says a lot in a series that is strictly anti-killing.

Anyways, excited to see where this all goes.

I've never been truly able to get on board with "if you go far enough left, you get your guns back" because I genuinely just don't think we should be mass producing weapons that can facilitate mass murder at the scale we do. like, sure, I'm not against the principle of "marginalised people and activists should have the same access to weaponry that others do, especially for protection in a state of fascism" but I just. we only have these things as a result of the military industry, finding the most efficient ways to kill. these things should never have been made. we shouldn't be producing assault rifles for mass consumption, we shouldn't be producing them at all.

so like. sure. if you go far enough left you get your guns back, I guess. but I think that's a short-sighted and disingenuous way to phrase it, when I would assume that the more "radical" leftist stance is something more akin to global demilitarisation and the cessation of mass-production of weapons (alongside a lot of other garbage made for mass consumption under capitalism - we need to de-industrialise production on a major global scale).

(I don't necessarily mean getting rid of guns "completely" because people will always find ways to engineer them, but I think there is a massive difference between a gun designed for responsible hunting or sport vs a gun designed to kill people as fast as possible, or to be wielded as a threat the way cops do.)

idk. obviously this is a very future-focused perspective and I guess the "far enough left etc." crowd are usually talking more in the present. I just have concerns that this particular piece of rhetoric encourages some leftists to be less critical of the weaponry industry than perhaps we should be.

Time travel AU

From the 4th Shinobi war.

Tobirama realizes there is no way to win the war. He doesn't know where Naruto's team is, everyone is trapped in these cocoons except him and his fellow Hokage. They talk it through and it's decided one of them needs to go back.

In the end it's decided that Tobirama is the best choice, he will be able to actively support the younger Hashirama earlier and can make sure Izuna survives. He knows he will be able to convince his younger self. Whereas if Hashirama goes back Tobirama's younger self would never fully trust him.

Obviously Sarutobi and Minato aren't an option, no one would know them.

They pool together their chakra and send Tobirama back.

Only he doesn't go back to the warring era, he ends up in Konoha.

They hadn't planned for this. He has no idea what went wrong here. He isn't even sure what time period he is in. Is everything doomed already?

A quick trip to a mirror reveals him to be in his early 30's, likely the same age he died at. Thankfully not in his Edo Tensei form, but the version of him before death.

He does some recon and sees familiar faces, Hiruzen is Hokage, he sees a younger Minato, so before Naruto was born. He finds Kakashi, but he's only an adorable little brat in need of affection. He also finds Itachi, the brother Sasuke was avenging. At least he assumes so, the child is only 3. There is only one Itachi in the clan so he thinks that is a safe bet.

What he wasn't expecting to find was Obito. Happy as can be, in truth, reminding him so much of Naruto. Both of them are so goofy but with such genuine smiles. And loud. He had kind of just assumed the boy was bad from the beginning.

So Tobirama decides to make a list of goals.

1. Figure out why Obito joins Madara

1.5 Steal the boy. Seriously. He is such a sweet child and everyone just seems to be over looking. And who lets children live alone at such a young age?

2. Find out what causes the coup d'etat and stop that.

3. Talk to Hiruzen, while he understands doing whatever to keep the peace in the village, that was a 13 year old boy. How fucking dare he allow that.

4. Steal Kakashi. That boy was being treated like an adult and he was 11 tops. He shouldn't be a genin let alone a chunin.

5. Find Madara, probably kill him.

6. Find Zetsu, definitely kill him.

7. Find the corruption Sasuke spoke of and eradicate it. Even if it stemmed from his own earlier choices.

He really wishes he had more information on the village and what went wrong.

It had never occurred to him the possibility of landing in any other time period than the one he intended to.

He is able to learn some key information that will help in some of his goals for sure.

Danzo is without a doubt up to something. He is often seen with that snake Orochimaru disappearing into warded underground bunkers. There is something hidden in the Hokage monument that Danzo is trying to keep hidden. He is certain this is the source of at least some of the corruption.

The Uchiha police force is definitely a problem. His idea clearly backfired and was instead causing a bigger rift in the village. Though the Uchiha weren't completely innocent in this either. He had witnessed more than one abuse of power already.

There were numerous children who graduated from the academy too early. He saw an 8 year old Uchiha boy that was being sent on courier missions already, in a war! (He might possibly be adding another goal, as he was sure that this was the grandson of Kagami, to take on an apprentice).

Sarutobi was surprisingly weak. He seemed to let others make decisions for him.

Orochimaru he knew from the 4th shinobi war could be swayed to be good if it benefited him. So he felt there was a chance at least that he could pry him away from his former student.

The treatment of orphans was going to have to change. What happened to the orphanage he set up? (Possibly another goal. His list got longer every day.)

Now he just needs to decide where to start.

Probably the most attainable. Madara and Zetsu could take years to find. He needs to focus on what he can fix today.

The children then. The two Uchiha boys and the Hatake boy.

A Guide To Revolution

It’s now or never (repost because you need this rn)

First things first, educate yourself. Read up on those who are currently in power, on similar historical events, leftist political ideologies, etc.

Make sure you find credible sources.

The next thing is to educate those around you, find your community, find other people who are willing to take action in the same way you are and radicalize the ones who aren't sure yet.

Remember, uneducated and ignorant is what they want you to be. Knowledge is power for a reason.

One of the biggest issues with starting revolution is that the masses don't know the power that we hold

Next, organize. Find your local punk scene, anarchists, environmentalists, they're often the first ones willing to take radical action. Start with smaller initiatives and expand from there. Get everyone you know involved

Remind them that this is about more than just them, this is about your future.

I'm not american, otherwise this is exactly what I would be doing, but I send you my support in the form of knowledge

Remember that you have a right to bear arms reason. The lack of gun control is a bad thing, but you can use it to your advantage.

Get connected locally and build mutual aid support networks. You do what you can. If you’re a doctor, provide people with medical help, a seamstress, fix people’s clothing for them, etc.

And if you need help, it goes both ways. Mutual aid.

Do not feed into the economy, help each other instead. Cut out all large corporations that aren’t absolutely necessary, find local alternatives.

You can't start a revolution unless you're educated, healthy, and willing to take risks.

Remember, for a revolution to be successful at least 3.5% of the population needs to be engaged in active resistance

Don’t be a narc. See someone stealing from a Walmart? Look the other way. Someone vandalizing a government building? Look the other way. Doing recreational drugs (safely)? Look the other way. Someone is undocumented? Look the other way.

Have solidarity with your fellow humans, it’s us vs the rich.

Mass civil disobedience can take many forms

Refusal to follow certain laws

Evading taxes entirely

Mass blockages of government buildings and facilities (can also take be storming and taking over)

And on the more extreme end, revolution often requires the assassination or detainment of prominent figures
