i'll defend fanfic for my whole life. like the joy it brings is genuinely transformative and indulgent in a way unique to the genre. it isn't meant for a market, it isn't meant to be sold or marketed. it is born out of such care and passion for a media that one must write and must share it, so other folks can enjoy it to. for no other reason than love and joy. do you know how special that is? especially in our current social and political climate.

Demon-Indra!AU

It is rumored that the Uchiha are the descendents of demons. Well, not demons exactly, but one very old, very infamous demon, their name scourged from record. It's also rumored that the Uchiha know of their tainted blood, the name of their forebearer, and when all else fails, when the Uchiha are cornered and dying, they have a way of summoning the devil back from the depths to throw the world back into chaos.

These are not just rumors.

Our story begins when Tobirama is...I think I want him to be 10. His father, Butsuma, has dragged him away from his childhood bed, ordering his brothers to stay put and safe in the Senju Compound. Except Tobirama is not given armor, his only defense is his father and for some strange reason, Butsuma is not leading the charge against the Uchiha, but keeping to the outskirts, slipping through the ranks unseen. This time, the Senju grow bold, attempting to invade the Uchiha Compound. It's a big enough distraction for Butsuma and Tobirama to slip inside the compound's walls unseen.

Butsuma drags Tobirama to the Uchiha temple, where their most sacred relics are preserved and kept. He brings them to the hidden basement and manages to find the holy text describing the exact steps to take to summon Indra, Lord of Ruin.

[Butsuma knew this would be here cause surprise motherfucker, Senju have their own demon ancestory and records but they can't summon Asura, but the records do hint that Indra exists and can be summoned] There's a few rules to demon summoning; whoever summons the demon is inexplicably the master of said demon and it needs alot of blood.

That's why Butsuma brought Tobirama.

He slits his throat.

The entire time, Tajima and his eldest son (I don't know if I want all the Uchiha brothers alive or cherry pick who lives) are suspicious of the attack and Tajima is trying to find his nemesis. Figures out that there's an intruder and that they (most likely Butsuma the rat bastard) have broken into their most sacred holy sites. They manage to arrive after Tobirama's throat is slit, blood gushing out of the gaping wound in his neck, already too weak to stand or hold his arteries together, his blood puddling and filling in all of the magical components to summoning the Demon Lord.

Indra arrives. Butsuma is ecstatic and commands Indra to find all who bear the blood of Uchiha and rip them to pieces.

There's only one problem. Technically, Butsuma didn't summon Indra. It was Tobirama's blood that fueled the spell. And Tobirama is still hanging on by a thread of life.

Plus, Indra isn't some heartless monster. He's a 'demon' because there's actually no word in human language that is fit to describe him or any of the Otsutsuki. So he sees this tiny child who'd been cruelly used as firewood to fuel this warlord's lust for blood and goes, "What do you want little one?"

And Tobirama is 10. He's dying. He can't even think past how difficult it is to breathe and how much it hurts. In another story he may ask for retribution, vengence, or some other thing but in this one Tobirama says, "To live."

Now, there's some wiggle room with that request. Indra could very simply heal the wound as requested and everything will be as it should. But...Tobirama would still have a warlord for a father.

So Indra does something else. He tears open the veins in his arms until he is gushing black (maybe purple?) demon blood and force feeds Tobirama with it. Of course onlookers are horrified, they don't know what's happening. Things become a little clearer when the gaping wound in Tobirama's neck knits itself closed.

The boy is unconscious, sleeping, by the time Indra is done. Indra did the Dracula-vampire thing of "I'll replace most of your liquid blood volumn with my own" and in the process...kinda makes Tobirama his son. (surprise Uchiha adoption!)

With Tobirama's request forfilled, guess what; Indra is free to do whatever he wants! The Uchiha summoning spell wasn't meant to subjugate their forebearer, but kinda as a guardian angel. Butsuma is, of course, ripped to shreds and tossed out onto the battlefield for the Senju to take back home with their tails between their legs.

But now the Uchiha have to host Indra, their strange ancestor who adopted the still slumbering Senju child. The story kinda becomes a comedy where all the Uchiha are scrambling to make sense of all these events. Is Indra now the Clan Head? If not, should Tajima still show honor to Indra as superior to himself? What is Tobirama's position in all this? Someone has to tell Indra that lightbulbs were invented whose gonna do that?

It takes 4 days for Tobirama to wake up.

From there, I have no clue what to do with the story. Found/developing family? childhood friendships between tobirama and the Uchiha sons? what happens when the senju inevitably reappear?

@doveywovy made a post about people always turning dark tropes vanilla, so I thought maybe it would be fun to throw a dark twist to a typical sweet trope.

But it's me so it ends happily anyway.

So thank you doveywovy for the idea, and I hope you don't mind me tagging you! Lemme know if you do!

Soulmate AU where Tobirama's soulmate is a Yamanaka. And he is super abusive, but their marriage is what sealed the deal with the Trinity clans joining so Tobirama is like okay gotta make this work. Gotta hide the pain. But his soulmate is a straight up sadistic sociopath. He enjoys playing mind games with Tobirama, he's sexually, physically and verbally abusive.

Izuna has been pissed about this since day one. Tobirama is way too good from some random Yamanaka. He's too old for Tobirama and he doesn't have enough status. Mahiro Yamanaka is the youngest brother of the Yamanka clan head and has no status, yet for whatever reason it was demanded that Tobirama marry into the Yamanaka clan. And Hashirama agreed!!

It's bullshit, that's all Izuna is saying.

But fine whatever, not his problem. Tobirama isn't Izuna's soulmate. Why would he care?

Except he does care. He cares a lot. And when Tobirama shows up again (he joined the Yamanaka clan last month to help them with the move to the village, it's his duty now that he is a member of both the Yamanaka clan and the clan heads family), he looks exhausted, but the kind of exhaustion he sees after a particularly bad battle. Like you've survived something.

Hashirama joyfully laughs and claps his brother on the back and asks if he's been keeping busy at night? wink wink.

No one sees Tobirama's flinch. But he does. Over the next year he sees more and more signs that something is wrong.

He brings it up to Hashirama, who thinks he's stirring up trouble because he doesn't like Tobirama, and Madara, who agrees Izuna's points are valid but they need proof.

So he decides to talk to Tobirama but he laughs it off. But Izuna sees the darkness in his eyes that seem to scream to Izuna ‘save me, save me’

For now all he can do is wait.

But the day that Hashirama tells him that Mahiro (Tobirama's husband) came to tell him that Tobirama is really sick and will be out today and maybe tomorrow, Izuna has had enough.

He's going to see first hand what the hell is going on.

Is he breaking into another clan's compound? Yes.

Does he care about the potential ramifications of that? No.

He's going to figure out what the hell is going on with Tobirama. It's stupidly easy to get into the house.

There aren't even any wards!

He isn't sure what he was expecting but Tobirama unconscious on the floor, which is covered in dried blood, with more dried blood clumping his hair wasn't it.

What the actual fuck is he looking at?!?! His first thought is that Tobirama is dead. He *looks* dead. He checks his pulse and thank fuck he isn't as dead as he looks.

But man fuck this shit, he was not expecting things to be this bad. Honestly even while he worried about abuse it's hard to imagine a man like Tobirama, who is stronger than his husband, actually being abused and then to this extent. It takes a lot to beat a man like Tobirama unconscious. He would know, he's tried many times.

He carefully hoists Tobirama onto his back and he's about to rush him to Hashirama when he thinks about what comes next. What if Hashirama values their link with the Yamanka more than Tobirama's safety? What if Tobirama says it was someone else? Na fuck that. He's going to take care of this shit on his own.

He takes Tobirama to Nami, she's an Uchiha healer, well she's an Obstetrician, but she knows how to heal and that's what he needs.

She's also like WTF, but in a OMG are you getting me into some murder plot or something? Did you kill Tobirama?!?

Izuna is like NO! Well, I'm not plotting Tobirama's murder.

Buuuut he is planning Mahiro's. It's really easy. He just moves a couple of files around and suddenly Mahiro has an urgent mission to the land of Hot Water for a retrieval mission. If he gets murdered on the way, who could have seen it coming? No one. It's a tragedy.

Nami is able to stabilize Tobirama but he will need a real healer.

He just needs someone to help him set this plan in motion. Thankfully he has the best big brother and Madara agrees without question.

So once Mahiro is out of the village Izuna ‘discovers’ Tobirama when he goes to check on the poor sick man while his husband is away. And OMG what happened to Tobirama? An intruder? Who knows!? (Because no one would ever expect, or believe that a man like Mahiro could have beat up a man like Tobirama.)

Tobirama is taken to Hashirama who heals him and Tobirama (as expected) says he doesn't know how he came to be injured. (‘Typical abuse victim response’, Izuna thinks to himself. That's why Tobirama needed him and Madara to take care of things for him)

They (Hashirama and the Yamanaka clan head) don't want to risk Mahiro’s mission so they wait for him to get back to tell him. Only he doesn't come back. So they send a back up team to see if he needs help, but instead they find him beaten to death missing multiple teeth and dozens of broken bones. (Izuna thinks Madara went easy on the guy. Knowing what a good healer Tobirama is he can't imagine last week was the first time Mahiro laid hands on him. Not to mention the haunted look Tobirama had gained and the subtle flinches. He's willing to bet this abuse has been going on since they married)

Now they just have to break the news to poor widowed Tobirama.

A/N: I'll admit this is a very small part of a thought. If I actually write this I want to drive deeper into the betrayal at not just a loved one but the person meant for you being so horrible to you and what it says about you that they are your soulmate and how those thoughts would slowly break you.

Again the happy ending in my says that the only way for him to end up with Izuna was to first end up with his abusive soulmate and Izuna is who he is actually meant to be with.

My newest WIP. It was for a challenge using the below photo. But perspectives are hard!

Mulan AU where she does get caught by the other fresh recruits while she's bathing but Mushu helps her spin it like the lake is cursed by an evil lizard demon and will turn men into women if they stay in it for too long.

From there it's not actually difficult to get the other soldiers onboard with covering up the fact that poor Ping took one for the team and got afflicted by the vagina curse, especially since it would have been all of them if they hadn't gotten the warning ahead of time. So they agree to help him cover it up, because obviously the army's not going to understand.

Shang is... tentatively glad that the men are bonding and getting along, even if they continue to be deeply weird about it.

Izuna, walking in Tobirama's home office in the morning, hair down, wearing Tobirama's shirt: Are you busy, Senju?

Tobirama, rubbing his tired eyes: Yes, unfortunately it's important.

Izuna shrugs and turns to leave: Okay, I'll go seduce your brother.

Tobirama's eyes twitch, his fingers curling around his brush a little tighter: He is married!

Izuna, shouting back: I'm going to seduce him anyway.

Tobirama slams his brush down and goes after Izuna because he knows Izuna's going to bother Hashirama and Hashirama's going to entertain Izuna and they will go on "dates" (they are on friendly terms) and Tobirama won't be able to focus anyway because he should be the one spending time with Izuna when he is not on missions.

One day imma write a fic where Tobirama burns his house down

His house, Hashirama’s house, butsumas house, the Clan compound, he burns something that represents the established order

And it will be beautiful

1: Hashirama thought it was a childish promise and not a threat 2-3: sillies 4: Izuna gets blasted by Hashirama's thick white goo (also wear safety goggles when doing experiments) 5: Madara said you couldn't kill a man by being soft so Tobirama killed him by being soft 6-8: Dragonoid Madara and Wizard Tobirama. The Uchiha have a library that Tobirama wants access to. They're also well known for coveting soft things so Tobirama will use his big Senju naturals as a bargaining tool.
