16) how many fic ideas am i nurturing, share one?

"nurturing" is such an interesting word. i have a list of all my fic ideas (there are 28) then the requests i have to finish. of my 28 ideas i love them all so fucking much you can't even imagine. i do have 2 favorites, though (my greek mythology saga au, and a 1700s au epic). i'll share a different idea though because those two are special

1800s asylum au. edwin has epilepsy, and his upper class parents, unable to care for him as his seizures worsen with age (and also none too pleased with how this reflects on their family), send him to an asylum. there, he meets charles. charles had been committed by his parents for sodomy. charles and edwin really really hit it off, in a way that's more romantic than not. however, charles still asserts that he is now heterosexual, because he is trying to leave the asylum. in fact, he's so heterosexual that he is having an affair with a nurse, crystal. edwin doesn't understand this, because, a) charles IS gay, and b) he genuinely believes that the best treatment for his epilepsy is at the asylum. at very least, he knows he WILL die if he leaves, and he'd rather not. anyway i could totally keep going but that's the idea :)

i don't know if i'll ever write that because it would require a lot of research but i might! you never know

this is such a funny question. i don't think any are that unhinged?? but probably recovered in 1999. i know i forgot about that one too. it's a blair witch au and it gets batshit really quickly and we just never recover

36) how do i write kissing scenes?

i generally treat it like any other scene. i try to draw everything out, give it the emotional dues it deserves, as i always try to do. but i also try not to give it more time than it deserves. it's a kiss, and it's just a kiss. it's not there to be exaggerated, i'm not a smut writer (it isn't bad to be one, it's just not what i am). like any other scene, i try to make it visceral with details - that cross between physical details (what the kiss is like), sensory details (things happening outside the kiss), and mental details (how the character is thinking/feeling). and the mental details impact how they kiss, and what they notice.

spoilers for Manuscript below. it's easier to describe it case by case, i think

a lot of it depends on the tone of the scene, but more broadly what it represents for the characters. for example, Manuscript:

when edwin and the cat king kiss, they are drunk. so i focus on that. because the context of this scene is that they have to be drunk in order for it to happen. it's sexual, it's rushed, it's delirious. there is no emotional core to it beyond unaware self-discovery and oblivion so i focus on the oblivion of it all. juxtapose vivid sensory details and no dialogue. are they too incoherent to speak, to wrapped up in the pleasure, too apathetic to one another? all three. and more, that we can't quire understand because they don't, either

when edwin and monty kiss, it's unexpected. it's not exactly pleasurable, but it's not exactly unpleasant. so i describe it as such - "pliant" "tight" "pink lips and clutching fingers." and with this we can extract how the characters are feeling - monty is desperate, and as the kiss goes on trying to essentially make edwin want to kiss him back. edwin is trying to be a good friend and not entirely sure how to do that. the emotions of the characters are leading how they kiss and how they react

when edwin and jason kiss, it's more for show than anything else. edwin lets himself "be kissed" but he does not kiss himself. he is passive in the situation so i use passive sentence structure. until he hears crystal and charles at it, and then he gets pissed, so then he starts putting effort in. it's only a few paragraphs because time is flying to them.

tl;dr it's a normal scene so describe things

But the problem is basing that morality on patently untrue things like a god, or claiming morality is in some way unchanging because it comes from a Devine source is, at best, unproductive

As for the “you can’t disprove his” claim? Tgat kinda depends which god

Can I prove absolutely no god of any kind can possibly exist? No, because the definition of “god” can be so vague as to be as you said unprovable

But a specific god if interpretation of god? I can disprove that

Let’s say as an example a Norse pagan believes thunder is caused by Thor’s mighty hammer smashing against his enemies, I can very easily prove the scientific processes that cause thunder and lightning do not involve a magic hammer and exist entirely without Thor

One could still argue a version of Thor exists, one that has no control over lightning whatsoever. Or that Thor is actually just a metaphor if some kind. But at that point it’s basically a completely different god then the one stated to exist at the start of thus hypothetical

Same goes for the Christian god, sure, I can’t prove “a” god doesn’t exist, but I can prove Noah’s arc didn’t happen, I can point out Adam and Eve weren’t real and that humans evolved via natural processes, etc, and that like 99% of what the supposed god is said to have done in his book didn’t fucking happen. I think that we need to limit how old a person can be and be the president of the United States 🇺🇸 Joe Biden was too old, and we saw what happened to him during his term. I'm old so I can say this without feeling badly for doing so. I know from whence I speak. We make people retire at 65, but we allow people in their late 70s to be president. If they are too old to be a worker or run a company, how can we expect them to give an optimal performance as the President? It's the most stressful job in the world and it ages people faster because of the enormous pressure on them. We need younger people with new ideas and approaches to domestic and world problems. The old way of thinking isn't working very well. Have you noticed? Let's get some new perspectives and people who are young enough to employ those new ideas and who have the energy to do the job of president correctly. I really don't want another president to fall asleep in meetings or have no idea what's going on, do you?

So I've thought about how little information I gave initially and how there's a pitfall that if you figure out the main "twist" you may still be unable to figure out what I've hid in this url or how. It's kinda unfair of me. Bear in mind that it's probably too bothersome and boring and not particularly engaging to look for an answer if you set out to find this connection between yttd and rosehips (and there's nothing special anyway, it's not deep at all, you'll probably think "and that's it?"). ooh boy this is a sad but good one, i got the idea for this when watching search and rescue and rodney freaked about the complications of child birth, and i thought "well, what if...?" i'm taking your star to mean number 1 so i'm adding my favourite scene that i've written so far that's actually a bit from super late into the fic

✨ - Rodney Raises Torren

"John! Ronon! Guys, holy shit!" Rodney's voice crackled to life through John's radio, and he immediately started running towards their quarters.

"Rodney, what's wrong? Is Torren okay?"

"He's walking! All on his own, he's walking!! You need to get here right now, hurry up!" The anxiety that was rising in John was instantly replaced with pride and excitement, and he ran even faster. Ronon rounded the corner at the same time as him and they grinned at each other as they ran the rest of the way to their room.

"You're doing so good buddy, look at you go!"

John watched Torren with wide eyes, tears welling up as he watched their little boy take a few hesitant steps before finding his confidence and taking two big steps towards Rodney, who grabbed Torren right before he fell forwards.
