All this talk from Republicans about Kamala's supposedly unbearable laugh is really getting to me; it feels like a reminder of just how rampant a certain kind of ableism is. (I'm using a very loose definition of "ableism" here, but one I feel I can defend as meaningful).

Actually, this election cycle it's been more than just the discourse on Harris's laugh: there was an awful lot of equating Biden's inability to speak smoothly (struggling on a level that I sometimes have, on "bad teaching days", and I'd consider myself to be a more articulate person than average) with a senility advanced enough that he wouldn't be able to perform presidential duties in general. And now I'm starting to hear stuff about the Harris campaign adopting a talking point of saying that the Trump team is "weird", whatever that means -- I haven't looked into exactly what they're saying, but it seems slightly juvenile and plays into the general theme this time around of "hey let's (further) normalize treating someone's unusual trait as mock-worthy".

I think that we need to limit how old a person can be and be the president of the United States 🇺🇸 Joe Biden was too old, and we saw what happened to him during his term. I'm old so I can say this without feeling badly for doing so. I know from whence I speak. We make people retire at 65, but we allow people in their late 70s to be president. If they are too old to be a worker or run a company, how can we expect them to give an optimal performance as the President? It's the most stressful job in the world and it ages people faster because of the enormous pressure on them. We need younger people with new ideas and approaches to domestic and world problems. The old way of thinking isn't working very well. Have you noticed? Let's get some new perspectives and people who are young enough to employ those new ideas and who have the energy to do the job of president correctly. I really don't want another president to fall asleep in meetings or have no idea what's going on, do you?

Post-AGT Appearance 1324: Delilah November 13

The effort to boycott my album would have some success. Several stores would pull it from the shelves, some temporarily, some permanently. Many radio stations would circulate memos to not play any of the songs, play only 58-23 or not play any unless it makes the top 40. So last weekend 58-23 would be at 38, My fingers aren't the only thing that's Stiff at 64 and Yearning, Burning would have hit its peak at 94.

After voting in Nevada I would have flown to Trinidad for the November 6 funeral for a former husband of my wife's cousin. The next day I would fly back to Canada and arrive quite sick, unable to work for a week while the filming schedule fell further behind.

The Presidential election would have gone the same way except that Trump would have gotten all 4 electoral votes from Maine and the Democratic district in Nebraska for a 316-222 victory. Chase Oliver would have gotten 5% nationwide, third place, peaking at 12% in Vermont, with 10% in North Dakota, South Dakota and Oklahoma. His totals would have been more than the gap between Trump and Harris only in Maine and Michigan, but millions of people would blame me for Trump's victory. I would not need a new quote. Phillip would have woken up late Wednesday morning, heard the news and gone back into a coma. That would run as a scroll on the Colbert show the next 2 nights. As of today the Arizona Senate race would still be in doubt with the Republican (not Kari Lake because she would be Governor) leading. The Republicans would be looking forward to having 55 Senators next year with 42 Democrats and Independent Angus King of Maine starting a third term. In Vermont, thanks to ranked choice voting, Libertarian Matt Hill would have unseated Independent Bernie Sanders. With 7 House races undecided Republicans would have won 217, Democrats 203 and 8 Libertarians elected (6 in California, one each in Oregon and Colorado).

On Monday a fan of mine would have called Delilah asking to dedicate one of my songs to her mother in a nursing home. Delilah would have been aware of the album but wouldn't have it until tonight. Late in the first hour she would become the first-and almost the last-to play Does anyone remember that old Song.
