Hey, so remember how thanks to DOGE my NSF grant on AI education got terminated? No, really, that's me in The New York Times. So I've spent some time over the past few months feeling angry and sorry for myself, but also doing this. One of the outcomes of the grant was going to be more educational content about AI for social media, created by students, actually. But I've been doing this for free for the past five years anyway.

So I've been working on post hoc curation of the hundreds of short form videos about AI, ethics, and policy that I've made. And I've also been creating new ones to fill in gaps and creating this sort of syllabus, with links to videos on multiple platforms. Further reading, explanations, these kinds of things. And my intention is for this curated archive to be more helpful, particularly for teachers, but also just for people who want to learn in a more systematic kind of way. So I would be really appreciative of any support where support is mostly just sharing about this.

My grant termination is especially ironic because the White House says that they care a whole lot about AI education. But I also suspect that why I think it's really important that people learn about AI is very different than why the White House thinks it's very important for people to learn about AI. And what I'm doing now has much more of an ethics focus than the content that would have been created from the NSF funding would have had. Because I can do what I want.
